Watching people free of consequence and unprompted do everything in their power to destroy the marginalized for a taste of power was the true face of people that I will never ever forget

Hi!! I reached out to you a couple weeks ago to reblog my insulin post. I am 500 away from my goal. Could you possibly give me one more boost so I can get over the hump? Thanks (again)

Nah. You got me when I was on heavy drugs from surgery, but... nah. Should have checked your archive.

idk who needs to hear this but get an adblocker for your phone. and by that i mean get a dns app, add some blocklists it suggests and thus block ads system-wide. you don't have to bother with an ad after every level you play in your favorite game. you don't have to have ads bother you in every other free app. embrace the ad-free life. you may not be able to block sponsored posts on social media if you're on apple but you can block A LOT of ads that you really don't need to stress yourself with overall. (and if you have android there are lots of modded versions of your favorite social media apps that block all sponsored posts too). just type dns into your app store and thank me later

And may we keep having Bluesky for a long time! It's better than Twitter has been for years!
bluesky is honestly so nice and wholesome. the communities there reminds me a lot of tumblrs, i’ve really felt at home 🥹 my bluesky
some of the unique things i’ve liked:
- moderation lists: massive human made blocklists. they have lists for MAGAs, Nazis, genAI users/posters, NFT bros, spammers bots etc. truly amazing.
- starter packs: again human made lists of people they recommend to follow. there’s so many starter packs, from artist to follow, musicians, writers, even shitposters lmao.
- feeds: customizable, public timelines. you can create your own or join one of the thousands of feeds out there. you can also create a feed just for your art, so if you have a messy media tab, it keeps your art posts clean and organized!!
- blocking/muting: they have an amazing blocking system. when you block they can’t see your posts or even search you o. the site. they also allow you to mute people, delete specific replies, and even let you detach your post from a quote reblog if they’re trying to cause drama. honestly the best for a drama free environment. they also have very nice post filters so you can mute or completely block posts containing specific words or phrase!
- community: after blocking all the moderation lists it really just seems like a nice oasis for artists, creatives and others to connect with each other and get new followings. i’ve had a lot of people discover my art there and immediate support. it was super sweet.
- NSFW: not really something i like but i know a lot of others will; they allow NSFW content, art and otherwise. They have GREAT moderation so if you’re not interested in seeing those types of post be sure to turn on your content moderation settings.

I saw some posts about Bluesky having block lists that automatically blocks tons of accounts with a click. And people sharing various lists of accounts to block.
And honestly? I don't agree with that. At all. I feel like it's harmful, and here's why.
The block function has a reason for existing. To block people who spread dangerous things or hate speech and harmful people that come across your feed. To stop people who are harassing or harming you from interacting with you. To curate your experience online and the people you interact with. If something or somebody harming you or hurting you or upsetting you, the block function is there so you don't see or interact with it anymore. That's the point of blocking. Stopping them from contacting you or interacting with you. Preventing harassment by barring their access to you.
But block lists? People can end up on those for any reason. This means people who are innocent will be isolated because maybe somebody decided they didn't like them so they got them on a block list. Or maybe something they posted offended somebody or maybe some context got left out. Or they got roped into some drama. Or they did something dumb in the past. If it's AI or an algorithm creating the list, maybe people who align with your beliefs and are speaking up against harmful stuff get roped in just because of a keyword. So you could get lumped in with the awful people you were speaking out against and suddenly find yourself blocked randomly by a bunch of people.
Block lists, that automatically block tons of accounts, can very much be harmful. It can isolate innocent people.
Instead of just blocking tons of random people you will likely never, ever encounter or interact with, you should just block the ones that effect you directly. Don't go out of your way to find people to block. Don't go looking. Just.... Enjoy your little corner of the internet and take out the trash if it ends up at your doorstep.
I myself have been a victim of a block list. I think. A few times over the past few years, I have gone to favorite an art piece or comment on it to complement the artist or watch an artist who has awesome art I wanna follow. And realized that I was blocked. It confused me. Because I keep my head down and generally avoid drama. I haven't done anything or been involved in anything that warrants a random block. It made me feel confused and anxious as if I had somehow done something wrong. But it also stopped that artist, who probably just mindlessly used a list of accounts to block tons of people with no reason given, to miss out on favorites, comments, and even a potential commissioner. In the grand scheme of things, it was very minor. But it still harmed both of us in a small way.
So yeah... I don't agree with block lists. I don't like them. And I don't like that Bluesky has such an easy function built in to do that. It makes me a lot less likely to actually do much there and makes me think less of the platform as a whole. Which sucks. It had potential, but it seems to be falling to the same flavor of drama that dragged Twatter down. I am gonna stay far away from that, thank you very much.

aptophilia isn't attraction to the 'traits of disabled people and the pain it causes them' by the way, the radqueer code carrd you're referring to actually links the definition of aptophilia (as coined by radqueers). it's a paraphilia for grooming others, and auto-aptophilia would be a paraphilia for being groomed. do with that what you will
Multiple links on there were dead for me and I had to rely on Google for that. Apologies for not using the right definition /gen. Thank you for clarifying!

The extension in the screenshot is uBlacklist and it's quite easy to use, both manually from the control panel to add the sites with the asterisk, or when in a search results page and clicking the "block this site" option. It's how I've gotten rid of random Pinterest site results, too.
They also provide subscription lists that keep up sites such as these and others on their github:

This game genuinely is one of the two reasons why I'm still drawing and playing roblox. The character, the story, the gameplay, EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD! Can't wait for demo 4 to come out soon, and happy anniversary to Block tales
