it's torbin' time

in order: bugbear. tabaxi (lynx), lizardfolk (komodo dragon), fire genasi, goblin, human, brownie

surprise surprise I'm also not super familiar with bugbears 🎉based on official art and Torbek's canon design, I've decided to give bugbears long, flat, and generally rectangular faces, big ass go to hell ears (WITH the lil goblinoid bump <3), and thick eyebrows and "sideburns" (more akin to fur than hair). I also like the real long teef :3

Making Torbek a lynx was a pretty easy choice bc I really liked the visual similarity between a lynx's cheek fur and Torbek's sideburn thingies. I briefly considered making him a bobcat because they overall had a browner color palette that I thought fit a better, but then I noticed lynxes have similar ear fur tufts to caracals (Gricko's tabaxi design) and I thought having both goblinoids have the cute lil ear tufts would be cute <3

Making Torbek a komodo dragon was also a pretty easy choice :3 similar to Gideon I wanted to make Torbek big and toothy, and also a little fucked up looking if possible, and imho I hit the nail on the head here bc komodo dragons are WAY for fucked up looking than I remember and they're massive and pretty dangerous iirc, just super fun :)

Torbek's human design feels a lil lackluster to me imho, not Torbek enough? idk something about him is wrong. I really wanted to keep that pathetic wet cat energy and lots and lots of hair and. I don't think I succeeded. That's fine though it's not bad enough to keep me up at night

The word "boogeyman" has come a long way, and at some point divided off etymologically into both "Bugbear" and "Boggart", which is like a very spicy "Brownie".

Bugbears and Brownies look so different now, but they came from the same boogey woogie ancestor.
