if you simultaneously

a) believe that people join the military because of economic problems, whether that be abject poverty or trying to go to college to have a decent life, and

b) understand that the us military is the most powerful military in the world with global military bases and occupies much of the world and frequently invades countries

then why is your focus on the soldiers and not helping the poor by developing communist mutual aid networks? an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Mahmoud Khalil is free, but under the condition that his travel documents are surrendered. "capitalism is natural!" capitalism didn't exist until fairly recently in human history. it had to be introduced to much of the world because it wasn't common practice. before capitalism, people traded goods and services instead of money, and many societies were collaborative to ensure the survival of the group.

"humans are inherently selfish!" then why did early humans care for people they weren't even related to? they cared for the disabled, the sick, the elderly, people who would never be able to provide the labour needed for basic survival. they lived in groups, not on their own. resources were shared, not hoarded.

"every society ends up using capitalism." there are still isolated tribes that don't use capitalism. the only reason much of the world uses capitalism is because it was forced upon them, through colonization and war. there have been many instances of societies attempting to break away from capitalism, being successful, and then another nation, often the usa, does a coup and installs capitalism again.

"socialism/communism is doomed to fail!" what system do you think people used before capitalism? sure, the terms weren't around back then, but most societies used some form of what we would refer to as socialism or communism today.

the human race would not have survived had capitalist values been natural. we would have died out long before even having the terms to describe it.

The nazis that you see in movies are as much a historical fantasy as vikings with horned helmets and samurai cutting people in half.

The nazis were not some vague evil that wanted to hurt people for the sake of hurting them. They had specific goals which furthered a far right agenda, and they wanted to do harm to very specific groups, (largely slavs, jews, Romani, queer people, communists/leftists, and disabled people.)

The nazis didn't use soldiers in creepy gas masks as their main imagery that they sold to the german people, they used blond haired blue eyed families. Nor did they stand up on podiums saying that would wage an endless and brutal war, they gave speeches about protecting white Christian society from degenerates just like how conservatives do today.

Nazis weren't atheists or pagans. They were deeply Christian and Christianity was part of their ideology just like it is for modern conservatives. They spoke at lengths about defending their Christian nation from godless leftism. The ones who hated the catholic church hated it for protestant reasons. Nazi occultism was fringe within the party and never expected to become mainstream, and those occultists were still Christian, none of them ever claimed to be Satanists or Asatru.

Nazis were also not queer or disabled. They killed those groups, before they had a chance to kill almost anyone else actually. Despite the amount of disabled nazis or queer/queer coded nazis you'll see in movies and on TV, in reality they were very cishet and very able bodied. There was one high ranking nazi early on who was gay and the other nazis killed him for that. Saying the nazis were gay or disabled makes about as much sense as saying they were Jewish.

The nazis weren't mentally ill. As previously mentioned they hated disabled people, and this unquestionably included anyone neurodivergent. When the surviving nazi war criminals were given psychological tests after the war, they were shown to be some of the most neurotypical people out there.

The nazis weren't socialists. Full stop. They hated socialists. They got elected on hating socialists. They killed socialists. Hating all forms of lefitsm was a big part of their ideology, and especially a big part of how they sold themselves.

The nazis were not the supervillians you see on screen, not because they didn't do horrible things in real life, they most certainly did, but because they weren't that vague apolitical evil that exists for white American action heros to fight. They did horrible things because they had a right wing authoritarian political ideology, an ideology that is fundamentally the same as what most of the modern right wing believes.

Horrible fact of the day: Chevron just released a new boat fuel that WILL give you cancer.

Not "might", not "could", WILL. It has a cancer ratio of 1.3:1, as in, in a group of 10 people, 10 would contract CANCER.

when i say most crime would not exist without capitalism, i don't just mean from a financial aspect. i mean that the system of capitalism breeds a society that is constantly harming itself.

capitalism is an inherently individualistic system, in that everyone's success and survival hinges entirely on their individual labour without outside support. we are all in constant competition with each other. you need to make more money than others to succeed, to be better to get jobs and promotions, and success in capitalism necessitates the failure of others. this has devastating impacts to how we interact with each other. i genuinely believe that this approach is the root of the thinking that leads to many violent crimes, as well as crimes where people are simply taking what they want even if it's not needed. the system teaches you not to care about your fellow man, and these crimes are unfortunately the conclusion to that line of thinking.

there's also the fact that capitalism does not allow for outside support which would prevent people from committing crimes. rehab, therapy, hospitalization, are all expensive. even with free healthcare, you lose time that is needed if you want to make money, since most people can't take enough time away from work or feel unable to. outside support of any kind is also seen as a failure, not of the system, but of the individual. it's seen as leeching resources, because everything costs money and even the bare essentials must be earned through labour. this leads people to spiral further into poverty and mental illness, and some end up committing crimes because of it.

a community-focused, somewhat collectivist approach would prevent most crimes. it's no longer individual, but rather a communal effort that requires everyone to help each other. people feel supported, simply because they're involved in their community and working together to achieve something. no competition, no material possessions to gain to prove your worth. everyone is valuable, simply because they exist. if you hurt someone, you hurt yourself. people have an incentive to help out. the community is strong when everyone within it is strong, so you all help each other when needed to maintain that stability.

i think humans are inherently community based creatures, and capitalism goes against our basic instincts. we want to help each other, but under capitalism, we are frequently unable to or barred from doing so. we shouldn't be competing with each other for resources.

of course capitalism breeds crime. it's what it's designed for.
