So here is Will and me having a beer and chatting business...actually we had a cup of tea first as we were so cold! Anyway it got me thinking 🤔 - From someone who has built a business on their own and who is now building a media agency with a great team of cofounders, I can tell you it’s a very different experience. - There is never going to be a definitive one is best, but building something with others who have skin in the game, who you can bounce off and who are aligned with your goals is a refreshing change. - Don’t forget being a boss who doesn’t have a cofounder is a lonely and thankless task, but that’s what you sign up for. It takes very good interpersonal skills and a strong team ethic to make it work. This is one of my traits, but even I don’t get it right all the time. - Also don’t forget you won’t have all the answers or the skills. Yes you can employ someone who does, but the challenges of recruiting good people is a tricky task. Thanks Tanya's parents for being Tanya's parents and one of my surrogate families and giving me this wine for my birthday party back in March. This White Bordeaux is really good and I had no idea how fancy it was until I pulled it out of the fridge tonight and realized it was a chateau wine. And sadly my parents who are not wine people, don't even drink wine this good, which is sad for them and good for me, since that means more wine for me. Because reading social theory can be exhausting I have to switch up my reading for planning the revolution. Thanks to my valentine yesterday for buying me this, I have been wanting to read this for months. I am only 20 pages in and I do not want to put it down. That moment when you are driving and blasting tango trying to distract yourself from being anxious about a date you're going on later and this secret service person pulls up. You think oh shit, they are going to tell me to turn it down or I am getting a ticket. And they surprise you, he kinda laughs at you jamming to your tango in your car and asks you what the music is. You tell him it's Tango and he asks you to turn it up. Then y'all jam to some awesome tango. And you think of your Uruguayan familia, and how you miss running around Montevideo and hitting the beach, since it was summer time. And yes I am that person who blasts music in their car to distract themselves from how much they hate DC traffic.
