|| New Objective || Connor x Chloe Post Revolution
Tumblr media
After the revolution is won, Connor and his girlfriend, Chloe, had discussed the possibility of adopting a human child. Chloe really wants to be a mother but Connor is a little nervous considering his nature. On a windy day in autumn, Connor finally meets his daughter.
No Warnings
Chloe x Connor
Word Count: 924
Connor had never waited for something this intensely through his entire existence. It felt like time was ticking by slowly, seconds feeling like minutes, minutes feeling like hours and hours feeling like days. The environment of Lieutenant Anderson’s house helped calm him, but not by much.
He should’ve been happy; the revolution was won, he was free. Markus was out doing what needed to be done, ensuring not only that their kind wasn’t enslaved to humans, but that they had the same quality of life as them as well. This included marriage, but more importantly, adoption.
Chloe had spoken about wanting to be a mother since before he could remember. When he’d snuck out to see her, going up to her window past the DPD’s hours just to see her smile, to hear her talk about her dreams. She’d talk about how she would see families on the TV while Elijah was watching it…and how she wondered if she could do that someday.
Back then, he assumed he was investigating deviants, not falling in love.
Even when he deviated, becoming a father was not something he’d planned on doing. He’d never had a connection to parenthood, his only tie being that his partner had once been one. But seeing how Hank’ face shifted when he spoke about Cole, past the grief…he couldn’t help but wonder…
His thoughts were interrupted by Sumo barking softly, perching his paws up by the front door window to see a taxi stopping in front of the house.
Connor immediately looked up, his body tensing and his stress levels increasing.
“That must be your girl, Connor.” Hank echoed from the kitchen.
The androids eyes narrowed as he stood up from the couch, seeing a blonde figure walk up to the door carrying something in her left hand.
The door opened, the first thing Connor noticed was Chloe’s smile. She was glowing.
“Special delivery for the Andersons!” She exclaimed softly yet excitedly, as try not to wake the small human in the carrier. She closed the door behind her and moved over to the couch, setting the carrier down and sitting beside it.
Connor looked almost too shocked to move.
Was he scared of what was in that carrier?
Hank noticed this, getting up and standing by them to mostly make sure Connor was alright.
“Well? Are you gonna say hi or just stare at it?” He joked.
That appeared to snap Connor out of his staring fit. He couldn’t help it; overanalyzing a situation is what he was programmed to do, and it was official. That was definitely a human baby. Female, 48 hours old. Healthy, thankfully…
He knelt down in front of the couch, right by Chloe's legs to look the child over. It was sleeping, and as careful as he was being, a part of him feared waking her up.
“Hello, little one,” He spoke softly, under a whisper. Chloe smiled; seeing Connor this vulnerable was a rare sight. He was always on edge, especially after the revolution had been won, always fearful that Cyberlife was somehow watching them.
He slipped his finger into her little hand and the baby started to coo and whine, causing him to look up at Chloe for confirmation that what he was doing was correct. She just nodded and ruffled his hair a little. He was doing well considering how nervous he was.
Glancing back to the baby, he forced his voice to work again. “I’m Connor…” he introduced. Chloe laughed a little, knowing his discombobulation was probably getting in the way of his speech processors.
“Dad. You’re Dad.” She corrected him.
Connor nodded, as if that’s what he meant all along.
“Right. I’m dad.”
Neither of them were focusing on him, but Hank had this proud little smile on his lips. That changed when Connor looked up at him, eyebrows furrowed just slightly.
“You’re sure you’re alright with us using his room…?” he asked to confirm.
Hank shrugged then stuffed his hands in his jacket pockets. “Nobody’s usin’ it now…and I think he’d want me to.” He said, in reference to his late son. It was a lot for him to finally let go of that room, being frozen in time for years…
Connor looked back at the baby, who had opened her eyes at this point.
“Hi…”
The little girl whined a little and Connor leaned back, taking his hand back as well. “Please don’t cry-..” he uttered, begging the baby.
Chloe smiled again, a laugh escaping. “She’s gonna cry, Connor, that’s just what babies do.”
Connor looked concerned.
“Did I hurt her?”
“No, Connor, you didn’t hurt her. I promise. She’s just confused because her world used to be very small..”
That was a big fear when Connor and Chloe were discussing adoption. Connor kept bringing it up, time after time; he was designed to kill. To hunt. He wasn’t like other androids who knew how to care for children, that simply wasn’t in his code, he said. He was terrified that he would accidentally crush such a precious creature without meaning to. Chloe reassured him that he wouldn’t hurt her, and that even though he wasn’t made for it, fathering would come easy to him. Besides…falling in love wasn’t in his program either, but that didn’t stop him before.
The hunter nodded, holding the baby's tiny hand again. She seemed to relax again and a sense of calm washed over him. He wouldn’t hurt her. He would never hurt her.

"You built me so you would feel less alone. Did you ever consider that - at some point - I could feel lonely too?"
What if Kamski's goal has always been to create a sentinent AI and he succeeded pretty early? But is too much of a nerd to notice that Chloe developed feelings for him?

Detroit Become Human Characters Ranked best to worst Huggers
1. Luther: Big, robust, and beefy man. Sure he wasn't exactly brought up to be so soft by nature, but now that he's free? Hugging is now second nature to him, and he wants to share as much comfort and love as possible. Think of this as his way of making up for the lost time.
2. Kara: Was, in fact, programmed for this. A mother bear to her core, one who is equally protective and fierce as she is tender and loving. She is absolutely the type to drop what she's currently doing and partake in a bit of snuggle time if she notices you're looking a little down or if you tell her something is the matter.
3. Chloe: Again, c'mon, you KNOW she is just the sweetest, and she's all for hugs! Surprisingly she's also pretty intuitive and, without asking, would be able to pick up on your body language and tell whether you needed something soft and quick or if you were in serious need of a little physical intimacy. Will probably give you a kiss on the cheek, to boot! (Consider the rest of the Chloes, too, for a cuddle pile.)
4. Simon: While it's true that Simon might come off as a little uneasy and quiet sometimes, to those close to him, it's less awkward and more calming. Gives the best hugs to those close to him. He's surprisingly warm and very comforting. Definitely, the one you'd want to go for if you were in the mood to just vibe out while in another's arms. ( He's a lot stronger than he looks.)
5. Markus: Simon and Markus are at about a tie regarding who is a better hugger, and it mostly comes down to personal preference. Markus is your guy if you're more in the mood for a strong, secure hug. But he's also probably not the type to initiate hugs or tell if you're in need of one.
  6. Josh: He would be much higher ranked here. However, it's just that he's more the one who would much rather receive a hug, rather than give on. But still, that isn't to say he would ever deny you a hug if you were to ask! Very gentle and calming, if everyday life left you feeling overwhelmed, and you just needed a break for a minute, he's your guy! Just be prepared to return the favor later.
7. Connor: Again, he is pretty quiet and maybe a little socially awkward, but he has a bit of a hidden sweet spot for hugs! Connor may come off as stiff with the hug, but he's doing his best! Though all this in mind, he likely won't initiate any physical touch with you unless you either ask first or if he asks and you say yes.
8. Daniel: Oh boy, if you're not someone he knows very well or has a long history with, any physical contact likely wouldn't go over well with him, full stop. However, if you can manage to get past his defenses and convince him he's safe around you, there's a whole other side to Daniel to get to know! Like Connor, Daniel likely wouldn't touch you without permission first, and he might unintentionally have a considerably firm grip and a bit of a clinger. But he does all this in an endearing way. Like a child who doesn't know any better but to cling as tight as possible to the people they love the most. You can't fault Daniel for acting like this or even see any of this as a bad thing, to an extent.
9. Hank: He is 100% the kind of person who says they hate hugs but will offer one if you're someone close and look like you really need one. Also, this goes both ways as he is the kind of person who never asks for one but wouldn't hate it if one were to offer. (Well, at least not in public, of course.)
10. Gavin: Alright, so disregarding the fact that it's probably a mistake to go to this man for emotional support any day. Additionally, this guy really falls flat when it comes to understanding the emotional needs of other people unless they outright tell him. So if you were feeling bad and asked for a hug, maybe you could get a half-decent hug out of it, perhaps he'll even throw in a joke to try and cheer you up here, but that's about as good as it might get with this one.
11. Kamski: Kinda a unique case this one! While most of the other characters rated lower on the list are poor huggers because they simply aren't the touchy-feely type, this does not extend to Elijah. He can tend to clam up and get a little awkward when it comes to hugs because he has issues with physical touch, but if you were to go to him, genuinely emotionally vulnerable and in need of comfort, he might freeze up here. It's a situation well outside his comfort zone, and he might be awkward.
12. Nines: A bad hugger in the "I don't see the point of this, and I don't care" full-stop mentality. He has potential sure, but I wouldn't count on it.
13. Zlatko: literally, what did you expect?

"Specimen" Connor x Venom reader. *4.*
Tumblr media
Description: Y/n, a girl who's been alone her whole life, decides to change when an alien from the sky corrupts her body. Learning to cope with the symbiote named Venom, the two figure out a way to help put an end to disgusting humans who pick on the weak. But what happens when a certain Android detective is on her tail as if he was attracted to her all this time?
Warnings: Drama, blood, violence, stuff from the game, you know, the usual from Detroit become human.
Other things:
-I do not own Detroit Become Human; they belong to the owners and creators of the game.
-We will be following both Markus and Connors's story, maybe a little bit of Karas, because the reader is with the deviants, while Connor, you know, does his cop duties, lol.
-Y/n is a human girl who is then corrupted by Venom; if you don't know who Venom is, then I recommend watching the movie about him, then that will sum it up for you
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thank God you had Venom.
Or right now, you would be too tired to even walk.
You made it to the crime scene, Venom not putting your uniform on, but instead put you in a button-up shirt, tucked into some skinny jeans. Not that Jeans were bad, but if there was a chase happening, these would not be good to run in at all.
Letting out a Yawn, you saw Hank and Connor in the Distance as the perfect cup of coffee for the Luitenant was grasped in your right hand.
He saw you first, excusing the Officer before walking toward you. "Ah, thank you." Nodding while handing him the Coffee, your arms crossed. "What do you get?" "The Cashier said. An android with a little girl came here last night begging for money for a motel; when he said no, they probably waited until he wasn't looking and stole the Money. The problem is, when we asked officers to search the motel across the street, the rooms were all Android-free." "Hmm." Looking that way, Venom scanned the hotel, and the surrounding area, quickly Finding the Deviant in an abandoned car just beside it.
Smirking slightly, you looked back at Hank. "Well, if they were looking for a place to rest, they couldn't have gone far. Has Connor picked up anything?" Both of you looked at him, who was just standing there. Grumbling, Hank sipped his coffee. "He's been like that for fucking 20 Minutes, only Said one sentence, and it was about the robbery." Nodding, you knew he was analyzing the area, as it took a while, smart move to do in case something was missing. Sighing, you began to walk. "I'll just go talk to him." approaching Connor, he sensed your movements as he looked in your Direction; eyes slightly widened when he saw you, but in different clothing. "Detective! I wasn't expecting you here." Smiling, you nodded. "Hi Connor, I have to be here; I'm working the case with you, remember?" He nodded. "Yes, I remember, but this might just be a simple robbery." Snorting, you nodded."Yeah, that's true, but if there was an Android involved, it has to be connected. Have you gathered anything else?" He nodded, looking to the street across. "Footprints are everywhere, to the house, to the car, even the Motel, but I don't know which is the proper path. If the android was looking for a place to spend the night, and had an Emotion like that, protecting a Human little girl, then it has to be a Deviant." "Yes, because Deviants show true emotion, they can even feel what humans feel with pain, sickness, even the four senses, but I wouldn't count Hearing because Androids can already hear." He looked back at you. "How do you know so much about Deviants when this is your first time working on a deviant case?" One of your eyebrows rose. "How do you know that? Did you do a scan on me, Connor?" He nodded. "I did; I'm sorry; I should have asked." "No, it's ok, your forgiven, but you aren't wrong either; this is my first case, but that's a story for another time. Next time you want to scan me for information, just ask; it might not be what you're looking for, but invading a person's privacy is a crime, okay? I'll head over to the locations to see if I can find them, continue to search here." Following your Gaze, Connor couldn't take his eyes off you as your clothes were so intriguing. He had never seen anyone outside the police station besides Hank and Gavin wear regular clothes.
Yes, he only met you Yesterday, but somehow, he liked your clothes and thought you looked good in them too.
^^^Abby
^^^Status: Co-Workers.
"Store clerk says that the two were rushing like they were running from something." Hank interrupted, bringing Connor back to the world as he looked at the lieutenant. "Could it be possible there was an attacker they were running from? The Last Victim was abused by its owner; could it be the same for the Deviant we are looking at now?" Hank shrugged, sipping more of his coffee. "Could be, but we won't know more until we find them, damn this is good coffee, stupid FBI chick, always stepping up her game..."
^^^^Hank
Connors's head tilted. "She made that?" Hank grumbled. "Who knows, she's the one who brought it, but if she's trying to get us on her Good side, she knows damn well what she's doing. Come on, let's keep searching." Connor nodded sternly. "If we manage to find the deviant and the Child, there might be a possibility the Deviant Savior is here as well; we need to keep our guard up," Hank sighed, taking his coffee cup from his lips. "Agreed, we don't want the deviant escaping like the last one did. let me know if anything else pops up." Connor smiled "Will do."
A couple of Minutes passed, and you made it into an alleyway, ensuring no one was watching; Venom popped out of you, scattering across your body to transform you into your suit, the hood gently going over your head.
'You have about 15 minutes to head in there, explain yourself, and get them to safety before I turn you back; in that amount of time, you will Yell for Connor and Hank for backup, and I will detach myself from you and still keep your form, got it?" Nodding, you sighed. "Sounds simple enough; just make sure to leave some of your power in me, so I won't die in the future, alright? Get these two to Jericoh, then return to me, got it?" "Got it; good luck." Smiling, you readied yourself. "Same to you." Sucking back into you, you climbed over the Gate, hopping quickly onto the ground as a Female android, and the little girl was right in front of you.
The little girl hid behind the android, who suddenly pointed the gun toward you. "Who are you?! Stay back, and I'll shoot!" Putting your hands up instantly, your eyes glared at her. "Do not worry, Kara, there's no need to shoot." "What reason do I have to not?! Are you with them?! The humans?! Are you going to arrest me? Take Alice away from me?" Chuckling, your head shook. "The opposite; I despise the cops, and you two have been through a lot. I've been watching everything; you both were abused; his name was Todd, correct?" Kara's eyes soon lined with disbelief. "Y-Yes, how did you-" 'Like I said, I've been watching you; I am no harm to you or the child; I'm here to help. But, for me to do that, I need you to trust me."
"And why should I?! You say you despise them, but what if you want to kill us instead? We don't even know you; you could be a Human!" "I am, a Human, but, I'm not like them...I've been rescuing Androids for a long time, all with the same thoughts, and curiosity as you, but I promise you Kara, the place I will take you will not be dangerous, but a safe place, a heaven free from Danger. If it helps, let me take this off..." Slowly, but surely, you took of your Mask and hood, her eyes scanning you and finally seeing your true face.
She was surprised to see that you weren't lying, you truly are a human, as no sign of LED or robotic parts were attached to you.
"My name is Y/n, L'n's, Kara, and you can call me the Deviant Savior." Her eyes widened. "D-Deviant Savior? You were the girl Android was talking about, the human girl that Saves people like us...I didn't believe it at first, but now that I see you in person, I-I get a weird sensation; I guess I'm glad?" Smiling, your arms crossed. "That is an emotion Deviants first discover; you will be confused with yourself for the first couple of days, but once that pass, you will know who you really are. Now, we have about 7 Minutes before the RK800 comes here and looks for you; I need you to listen carefully, ok? Please put the gun down." Nodding slightly, she lowered the weapon as you turned. "I am also undercover, working with them to hunt others like you, but don't worry, I’ll take you to Jericho as I make a copy of myself; I will help you flee the area. But once you both are safe, I will return to them, saying I lost both of you and fight my copy, understand?" Kara seemed to get it right away, as she wanted to ask another question. "Is this Jerhico..going to help us go to Canada?" I nod, gently smiling at them. "Of course, now..." I put my hood back up, Venom adjusting my voice a little deeper again as I looked out from the metal gates, the three of us soon climbing over as it was clear.
Carefully and cautiously, we saw Hank and the fat man talk in the distance as I motioned them to follow me and keep their heads down.
Officers were everywhere, one about to approach us as I saw a sign, stopping as all three of us hid behind it. As the footsteps got louder, Kara covered Alice's mouth, my eyes glancing as the officer got farther away. Sighing with relief, it was time to move as we continued forwards, keeping another eye out.
Crossing the street with a bunch of people, another officer approached, as we bent down to blend in with the crowd, the officer stupidly oblivious.
Leading them out of the crowd, I grabbed a near bye umbrella, opening it so another female officer wouldn't spot us, as Venom blended us in so another officer approaching from the other side wouldn't see us as well.
With patience and calmness, both Officers left as we continued, running a little as a near bye officer grew suspicious,
His eyes widened when my eyes locked with his, seeing the deviants instantly. "THE DEVIANTS THEIR HERE!" 'Shit, I'll make a copy.' Venom made a copy, as I told them to run, as myself sunk into the ground, my copy running with the Deviants.
Hank heard him yell through the Walkie Talkie, as he let out a slight curse, my authentic self appearing beside him suddenly as I was back in jeans and my button-up shirt.
"Y/N! Go after them!" I nodded, soon bolting as Connor was about to follow, heading to Kara, Alice, and my copy.
Venom protected Alice and Kara from the bullets, a sword forming onto my Copies right hand as it cut through a bullet about to graze Alice's cheek, her screaming with fright as they continued to run, its eyes looking to me, soon running after.
As the copy ran, I ran faster. "STOP POLICE!" I yelled, pointing my gun at it as my deep, covered voice chuckled; I turned menacingly to myself.
'Y/n L/n's, detective of the FBI, I heard so much about you." I growled, not hesitating. "Shut up and hand over the deviants!! Or I won't shoot!" My copy chuckled. "And what makes you think your Bullets will affect me, detective? Your humans are too cute with your accusations," I snarled with the reply, getting into character. "Why are you doing this?! They're just machines!! They aren't real!" "Freedom is what makes justice...you humans treat even man-made things like crap; all of you deserve to be punished because these Androids aren't just alive...they breath for freedom.." I still had the gun pointed at her, and we stared into each other's eyes as I heard my copy chuckle again. "Kara, Alice, go. I'll deal with this human.." Both of them nodded and soon started running, fleeing safely. Hank growled with anger, as he sent Connor after them, who started to chase.
I growled with annoyance, my copy soon bolting to me as I blocked the sword with my gun, my feet sliding slightly.
"Your quick, human, but not quick enough!" She kicked my stomach, me tumbling back suddenly as Hanks's eyes widened. "Detective!" I slid back on my feet, blood dripping from my mouth as I wiped it, soon taking a random metal pipe in my hands. My eyes glared at her as she walked closer, her soon bolting, teleporting suddenly closer, as my line and her swords clashed, wind spreading throughout.
Hanks's eyes widened. "Holy shit!"
I attacked, her blocking as we were going so fast, as if it were from an anime show, her hand soon grabbing my throat, throwing me into the nearest building.
"ACK!" I cringed with the sudden pain, moving slightly to the left as her punch missed me, hitting the wall, which cracked as I grabbed her hair, throwing the copy off me as Venom allowed me to dash to her, as I was going to hit her head with the pipe.
But the copy grabbed my wrist, punching my stomach as I doubled over, ducking from getting kicked.
We all threw kicks and punches, pulling off insane speed and combos, as the officers and people around us were amazed. We were going extremely fast, as it looked like we were teleporting and not fighting.
She was able to kick my face as I flew back, her catching my face and slamming me into the ground. Hank and others covered their eyes form the dust, as I easily got up, charging to her with blood dripping down my head as we threw attack at each other, dodging and blocking.
Soon enough, after what seemed like both of us not getting any hits, I kicked off the nearest wall, both of our arms slamming onto each other as we glared into the eyes of each other, a smirk forming my copy. "You lasted, but you won't last much longer." I smirked. “I can do this all day!” Creating a sword with her left hand, she sliced up, causing me to back away as she barely missed me; Venom secretly gave me a sword to fight back as I slid on my feet again, my head whipping up to her. My breaths became heavier as I heard Hank, but I wasn't focused on him as my eyes watched the copy walking closer, forming two swords with her hands again. The people were running and screaming, as Hank gritted his teeth before turning to officers “GET PEOPLE TO SAFETY, JUST DON’T STAND THEIR DAMNIT!!” They nodded, running off as Hank looked worryingly back at me.
I looked at the sword Venom gave me, and I smirked, soon getting up from my spot, as I bolted to her again, dodging some smile from the copy.
Slicing some slime coming out of her, I flipped over another stream of slime, my sword cutting it in half as my hair blew in the wind, my body twisting as I focused.
Connor coudln't catch Kara and Alice, as he came back to help me. Still, his eyes soon widened when I got close enough to my copy, watching my body move in certain ways. Energy soon came out the both of us as we clashed swords again, a powerful arora and wind coming out of both of us, destroying some buildings while part of the ground exploded, causing the people, Hank, and officers to take cover.
My copy smirked; Connors's eyes widened as I got the upper hand, getting closer and closer as the ground continued to break. ‘I’ve never seen a human..’ Time stoped as Connor watched me getting closer, as this was so much power for humans to have. My hair was blowing wildly, my face was blank and focused, as the perfect clothes, now damaged and ruined, hugged my curves and shown my injured skin. ‘Have this much..power!’ His core component was going crazy, as Without hesitation, my sword pushed her back, my copy launching pretty far, slamming into several buildings.
I ran after her, passing Connor as she hopped out, teleporting behind me as her sword was about to pierce my neck, but I blocked, my eyes looking blankly up at her.
“My my..your a fighter aren’t you?”
I smirked to her. “you under estimated me, Deviant savior.”
Soon enough, we began to fight again, swords clashing and our bodies moving at a face pace, as Connor himself couldn't keep up with just watching as he ran to Hank, helping him to his feet. "Lieutenant!" He yelled as Hank coughed., trying not to inhale so much dust. "I'm fine...those two will destroy the City if this keeps up..." Connor glanced up as we continued to fight, breaking more buildings and property as we continued to clash, metal sounding throughout the area. “There’s nothing we can do! It’s all about who wins now! Let’s hope it’s the detective!“
The news was all over this, as it was broadcast all over the world, North and the others were watching, concerned about what I was doing as the officers at the station, including Fowler and Gavin watched in utter shock. “Holy shit..” Gavin mumbled, not believing what he’s seeing as of the others, who watched with fear.
After a couple minutes of clashing, my copy grabbed my throat, throwing me to the ground, which exploded as Connors's eyes widened. "DETECTIVE!" I heard his concerned yell, as smoke arose in the area, and the copy and I could only see each other, no one else. I saw my copy land, as a chuckle escaped her mouth, her feet soon slowly approaching me while she blended down to my eye sight. “You are strong, human..you have potential. Join me; we can help these androids..and claim the freedom to make the world a better place.." My teeth gritted with pain, me trying to get up, but venom seemed to have gotten my stomach as I held it with my arm. "Like h-hell, I would...you androids are just machines; why would I think to Join a psychopath who wants to kill humans?" I asked my copy, still in character as it chuckled. "You have a strong heart, speaking the truth instantly...I like that about you..I will not kill you, because I have many important matters to attend to...but this fight will not be forgotten. I give you my respect...Detective." With all that, my Copy disappeared, as Venom went inside of me, the smoke clearing as my body felt tired, me wanting to collapse then and there, not wanting to move anymore. I was coughing profusely, my body bending over as I held my stomach, my copy not anywhere in sight. I was irritated that Venom didn’t make it fair, as I was about to look for them, but I was already beginning to collapse to the ground.
Connor ran from Hank, who followed as he knelt to me, his arms catching my back as his knees hit the floor. he began to scan me instantly, growing slightly concerned for my wounds, his eyes looking to the people. "I NEED A MEDIC!" He yelled, one of the citizens calling for help as I felt exhausted, my eyes tiringly looking up at him. "Did they get away..?" Hank kneeled also, His brows furrowing as he nodded. "Yeah...they escaped..." Playing my character, I sighed annoyingly, but then coughed, my going to my stomach. Hank preventing me from moving anymore, as Connor holds onto me more tightly, but gentle. "Hey, Kid, take it easy; you just got your ass kicked; we'll discuss this more when you get help.” All I could do was nod, as Venom was already working on my wounds, the people were running, getting to safety from all the rubble still falling as I didn’t know who’s arms I was in, all I wanted was to sleep. But, My body then felt being lifted up from the ground, as Connor looked at me concerned as I was getting sleepier. His hand moved some hair out of my face gently, as Hank went to help people get to safety. “Don’t worry detective…” he hugged me closer, making sure not to drop me as comfort surrounded me instantly.
“Your safe now.”
A/N: Ahhh! My first non-stranger things request this summer; I have so much love in my heart for Deviant!Connor. I decided to follow the advice of @whoringrove and work on whatever my brain was most drawn to. Right now, I’m working on the second chapter of “Stranger Things Have Happened in Hawkins” but because it takes place in ST3 canon ‘verse, I really need to rewatch the whole season before finishing it. I’m itching to create right now, not watch something, so oop here’s an rk800 x reader fic. I hope you enjoy @momos-peaches <3
Read it on AO3 or right here on Tumblr (below the cut on this post)
You knew Connor could die and be placed inside of a new body– Hank told you about the one time he was killed before; he was hit by a car going down the freeway. However, you were not there to witness that death. You had never personally seen Connor die and you most certainly weren’t the cause. This was not the freeway incident though, this was the battle for android freedom in Detroit.
You were once on the side of the city, protecting humans at all costs. Now, you were at the center of the android revolution– and Connor’s blue blood was on your hands.
< ♥️ >
You were born into a well-off family and your mother worked in the technology industry. You grew up with Elijah Kamski as your best friend and worked with him for the first several years of your adult life. You were the creative mind behind a lot of the aesthetic choices– clothes, facial structures, etc. There was enjoyment and pride in your work at first, but you watched Elijah turn into a shell of his fun-loving self. He became more arrogant and honestly an ass to be around. You kept him within your social circle because you couldn’t bear to lose someone so close to you, but you didn’t agree with the treatment of his android companions. You weren’t as technologically gifted as him, but you helped him create the first androids. You wanted them to be treated with respect and kindness– Elijah saw them as nothing more than machines. He tormented you for it and you ended up leaving your very high-paying job at Cyberlife before he left his. You went back to school and ended up joining the police force as a detective– he retired to a mansion in the middle of nowhere. He invited you over often, but you started accepting fewer invitations as you started working more hours.
Hank Anderson worked at the desk across from yours. You had very different views on androids, but he was a gentle soul to you. He valued your opinions on his cases highly and often requested to work with you over other detectives. It warmed your heart and gave you a father figure you could actually reach out to. This is how you met RK800, better known as “Connor.”
He was far more advanced than any of the androids you worked on and his physical appearance wasn’t your design. You guessed that he was made by the team that replaced yours and you were honestly amazed by his existence. His data analysis software was incredible and he was extremely skilled in crime scene investigation. You knew the moment that you met him at the Ortiz house, you knew he was special.
< ♥️ >
You were already inside the house when he entered behind Hank. You smiled at the two of them as they came inside. You stood up from your place over the body, “Ah, Lieutenant Anderson, I thought you might never come.”
He rolled his eyes as he approached. Connor was matching his pace. You eyed him curiously, but pretended not to notice him– as much as you could, anyway. Though, you are sure Connor noticed your glances. “I wasn’t gonna come, but this jackass showed up at Jimmy’s bar and said you were working this one alone. Thought you might want a hand.”
“Extra hands are always welcome at my crime scenes; we could use all the help we can get to be honest with you. Household androids are becoming more unstable every day… I just don’t understand why. Take a look at the scene in the kitchen, Lieutenant; something awful.”
“Can do,” he replied shortly before walking past you.
Your eyes fell on Connor, who was standing stiffly a few feet from you. “I would shake your hands, but I’m gloved and have blood on me… what’s your name?”
“My name is Connor. I’m the android sent by Cyberlife to assist Lieutenant Anderson with the rise in deviant cases.” His answer was stark and to the point, but there was something behind the inflection of his voice. You could feel his gaze; it was dull and unwavering.
“I’m guessing you already know who I am based on what Hank said.”
He nodded curtly. “Y/n L/n. Current Detective at Detroit Police Department and former Creative Director of Cyberlife.”
You smiled again. “Indeed, it’s nice to meet you, Connor.”
< ♥️ >
The next two days were some of the most action-packed and traumatic days of your life. You protected Connor from Gavin’s android hatred, searched the Eden Club, and witness an unmasked android give a freedom speech on national television– not to mention all the cases that were piling up of deviants committing felonies. You felt protective of Connor at this point and he felt protective of you, though he didn’t understand why he felt that way. Hank was still a little skeptical of Connor as you approached your childhood friend’s home, but you had no doubts in your mind– Connor wasn’t just human-like, he was human. Much like many of the androids you were trying to track down/stop, he showed bright, shining signs of humanity. It made you incredibly nervous to take him with you to Elijah’s. It made you so nervous, in fact, you asked him to do something very unlike you.
Hank stopped the car outside of the Kamski residence. Connor was in the back seat and started to open his door before you squeaked out, “Connor, stay here.”
“What?” Hank questioned.
Connor pulled the door shut again, but kept his hand on the handle. “Why, Detective?”
“Uh…” you faltered. You felt silly saying it, but you were sincerely worried for Connor’s safety in Elijah’s presence. As much as you hated it, the man could read you like an open book. He would know that you cared for Connor and would do everything he could to use that connection to his advantage. “Kamski will try to turn me against you, I just know.”
“Oh come on, Y/n. You’re not going to turn your back on me and Connor. We’ll all be fine,” Hank assured.
“I would feel much better about this visit if Connor were to stay in the car. He is safe in the car,” You argued.
Hank rolled his eyes. “If anything happens to him, as much as I hate it, Cyberlife will fix him and he’ll be back on the job tomorrow.”
“I appreciate the concern Detective, but Lieutenant Anderson is right. I am replaceable.”
Hearing those words absolutely shattered your heart. “Connor…”
Hank patted your shoulder. “Come on, kid. He’ll be fine. Let’s go get this over with. I know you hate this fucker as much as I do.”
< ♥️ >
Elijah had his eyes on you from the moment you walked into the swimming pool room. There were quite a few Chloe models present, which did not surprise you. She was the first model to pass the Turing test and you had designed her (aesthetically speaking). Elijah had little touches of your relationship all over his house– your painting in the entryway, a few drawings of yours on the walls, even a picture of you two as kids in a frame on a table near the window, and of course Chloe. Though he was taking his sweet time getting out of the pool, he was keeping a close eye on you. You weren’t the only one to notice these details though– they were noticed by Connor and Hank both. The feeling of his eyes on you made your skin crawl as he climbed out of the pool. “I was surprised to see your name on my schedule, Y/n, but I am oh so happy to see you again. What’s it been? Six months?”
You did your best not to falter at his words, but his tone sent a chill up your spine. “I’ve been busy with my work at DPD. You know that, Elijah.” You used his first name on purpose; you were hoping it would throw him off his game. When you worked together at Cyberlife, you fell into the habit of calling him Kamski; everyone else did, so when you called him by his first name, it usually knocked the snark out of him. “These are my friends; Lieutenant Anderson and Connor.”
“What can I do for you, Y/n? Lieutenant?” He asked, only addressing you and Hank. It was annoying you slightly that he was being so informal with you, but at the end of the day, you couldn’t blame him. You two had such a long history it would be sort of unsettling for him to call you ‘detective’, though you despised him calling you just by your first name. It gave you a feeling of disgust in the deepest pit of your stomach.
You could see the weary look on Hank’s face. It wasn’t surprising– he was fairly protective over you. What was a little surprising was the fact that Connor’s LED was circling yellow to red and back again. Your words felt like they were trapped in your throat, so Hank picked up the conversation. “Sir, we’re investigating deviants. I know you left CyberLife years ago but, I was hoping you'd be able to tell us something we don’t know…”
Kamski smirked, “Deviants… Fascinating, aren't they? Perfect beings with infinite intelligence, and now they have free will… Machines are so superior to us, confrontation was inevitable… Humanity’s greatest achievement threatens to be its downfall. Isn’t it ironic?”
“We need to understand how androids become deviants. Do you know anything that could help us?” Connor questioned. Elijah’s strong gaze shifted to him for a moment. Then, it shifted between the two of you. You had a bad feeling before you walked inside the house, but it was getting stronger with every passing second that you all were inside. You shifted slightly, placing yourself vaguely in front of Connor. Your eyes met Elijah’s and you could see him deeply contemplating his next move.
“All ideas are viruses that spread like epidemics... Is the desire to be free a contagious disease?”
Hank was becoming impatient with the conversation. You could see it plainly on his face and in his body language. “Listen, I didn’t come here to talk philosophy. The machines you created may be planning a revolution. Either you can tell us something that'll be helpful, or we will be on our way.”
Elijah began to step closer to you and Connor. You tilted your head while shooting your former best friend a questioning look. You knew that he was paying attention to you, but he didn’t acknowledge you at all. He kept his eyes trained on your android companion, while his fingers twitched at his sides. “What about you, Connor? Whose side are you on?”
You looked away from Elijah and toward Connor. He was looking back at you, but only for a brief moment. The light on his temple was still flicking between yellow and red as he looked toward Elijah, “It's not about me, Mr. Kamski. All I want is to solve this case.”
Elijah chuckled a bit, pulling his lip with his teeth. “Well, that's what you're programmed to say… but you…” He was getting uncomfortably close to both you and Connor. He angled himself so he was off to the side a little bit, away from you, but he was still less than a foot away now. His glance came toward you for a moment before going back to Connor, “What do you really want?”
Your eyes were glued to Elijah. You, Hank, and Connor were all weaponless because that was an agreement of the meeting, but you were still trying to calculate the best way to incapacitate him if things went south. Connor, again, glanced in your direction, but you didn’t notice this time. Elijah and Hank both did though. “I’m sorry, but I don’t see where you're getting at,” he replied. His defensive tone didn’t go unnoticed by you, though.
“Y/n, would you mind stepping over to stand next to Chloe?”
You quirked your eyebrow at him. “Why?”
“I would like to run a little test on your android and you’re blocking my way.”
You knew exactly what test he meant. There was nothing else he could mean with that evil little glimmer in his eye, “No way in hell you’re doing to that to him. I won’t let you.”
He had a curious expression on his face. He had completely turned his attention to you. His hand came to rest on your upper arm as he answered. “Interesting. You’re so protective of a machine, I mean, you always have been rather fond of androids, but that adorable angry look on your face– oh you care about it, don’t you, Angel?”
You nearly gagged at the nickname. You knew he had feelings for you somewhere in your past, but he hadn’t called you ‘angel’ since you were in your early twenties. He stopped after you rejected him. It’s probably where the bitterness in your relationship started. God, you felt like you were going to be sick. Hank was in shock behind you and didn’t know how to intervene; Connor felt like he was frozen in place. His orders were telling him to focus on the mission, but the thought “protect y/n” was trying to force itself to become his primary directive. Elijah took the opportunity to place his free hand under your chin. His fingers dug into your skin. “What? Did I hit a nerve, detective?” That smirk planted itself on his face again. “Chloe, get the device.” His eyes never left yours. Your brain was screaming at you to rip yourself from his grasp, but you couldn’t get your feet to move. His hand moved from your chin to your other arm. He forced you out of the way as Chloe pulled a gun out of the table drawer. He almost threw you out of the way he used so much force. You stumbled into the chair next to the table and sucked in a harsh breath. Connor’s LED was completely red, but he was still unable to pick a directive. “I’m sure you’re familiar with the Turing test. Mere formality, simple question of algorithms and computing capacity. What interests me is whether machines are capable of empathy. I call it "the Kamski test", it's very simple, you'll see…” He turned to Chloe, an almost hungry look in his eyes as he took the gun from her hands. “Magnificent, isn't it? One of the first intelligent models developed by CyberLife, completely designed by Y/n and myself. Young and beautiful forever. A flower that will never wither……But what is it really? Piece of plastic imitating a human? Or a living being... With a soul…?” Elijah handed the gun to Connor. “It's up to you to answer that fascinating question, Connor. Destroy this machine and I'll tell you all I know. Or spare it, if you feel it's alive, but you'll leave here without having learned anything from me.”
Hank found his voice again after seeing the fear in your eyes. “Okay, I think we’re done here. Come on, Connor. Let's go. Sorry to get you outta your pool.”
Elijah was getting more and more in Connor’s face. “What's more important to you, Connor? Your investigation, or the life of this android? Decide who you are. An obedient machine… Or a living being endowed with free will…”
“That's enough! Connor, Y/n, we’re leaving.”
“Pull the trigger,” Elijah taunted. It was like watching the angel and devil on Connor’s shoulders. He looked to you for an answer. Elijah had aimed the gun at Chloe and for Connor, it would be just one quick motion, but…
“Connor, don’t…” Hank said.
Connor was searching your face for an answer. “Please no…” you mumbled.
“I'll tell you what you wanna know,” Elijah mumbled.
Connor lowered the gun and could feel himself destabilizing. Elijah sighed and moved away from Connor. He walked back over the table and opened the drawer again. Before you could process what was happening, he yanked you to your feet and had his hand around your neck. You could feel him closing his fingers tightly enough to start cutting off your oxygen. You grabbed at his hand for a moment, before you felt the cold metal of a gun barrel pressed against your temple. Your breath was gone from your lungs. You never would have seen this coming. “Eli–” You couldn’t get his whole name out.
“What the fuck are you doing, Kamski?” Hank shouted. All of the Chloe models that were still in the pool had begun to watch.
“Fascinating… CyberLife's last chance to save humanity... is itself a deviant…” Elijah mused. “I have another test for you, Connor. We’ll call it the Y/n test.” He relaxed his fingers slightly so you could breathe again. “You, a piece of plastic, have somehow managed to capture Y/n’s attention.” He rubbed his thumb across your chin so softly it almost felt like a comforting gesture. “I could have given them everything. A mansion, wealth beyond anything they have ever seen, they never would have had to work a day in their whole life, but they turned me down. They left Cyberlife and eventually became a detective. Ever since they joined DPD they’ve been slipping farther and farther away. I can’t even get them to come over for a meal anymore, but you… in a few days, they have become completely enamored with you.” His hands were trembling with anger. He began constricting your air again. “This test should be easy for you Connor; shoot the Chloe model and I will let Y/n go, unharmed. You three will walk out of here with no information, but the detective will be fine and Chloe will be replaced. If you refuse to shoot Chloe, I’ll shoot your favorite human, but I will tell you everything I know. Are you willing to sacrifice the life of this human for your mission? Someone’s going to die, Connor. It’s up to you to decide.” Elijah clicked the safety off.
Connor looked between you, Chloe, and Hank. You had been in danger before with your job, but this was the closest you had ever come to death. Connor could read the terror in your expression. Hank was scared too. Connor had never seen Hank truly scared before. “Kamski–”
“Quiet! This is Connor’s choice.”
Connor closed his eyes and pulled the trigger. Chloe shut down almost instantly and Elijah dropped his gun on the ground next to him. He let go of your throat and Connor rushed forward to catch you. You pulled in as many deep breaths as you could. Connor’s sensors scanned your injuries and determined quickly, that while extremely distressed, that you were relatively unharmed. Without saying anything, he wrapped his arm under your knees and behind your back. “Let’s go, quickly Lieutenant.”
Hank didn’t argue and neither did Elijah. Connor nearly ran to the car with you in his arms, jumping into the back of the vehicle with you. “Y/n? Are you alright, Y/n?” You nodded as you started to catch your breath. Hank got into the driver’s seat and started down the road as quickly as he could. “What’s their status, Connor?”
“Stable, but we should have them seen by a doctor to make sure Kamski didn’t cause any serious damage.”
“Guys… I’ll be fine.”
“Shut up, Y/n. If Connor says you should see a doctor, we’re stopping at a doctor.”
< ♥️ >
Connor had no idea that you had tailed him to Jericho. You were so careful not to let him see you. You followed him all the way up to Markus and North in the Captain’s cabin. North had a gun, but from what you could tell, it was jammed.  “What are you doing? You are one of us… You can’t betray your own people…”
You had met Markus before; he was one of your designs. You never imagined that he would end up being RA9, but knowing Carl, it made sense. Carl treated Markus as another son and gave him freedoms that many other androids did not have. “You're coming with me!”
“You're nothing to them. You're just a tool they use to do their dirty work. But you're more than that. We are all more than that… Do you never have any doubts? You’ve never done something irrational, as if there's something inside you?.. Something more than your program.”
You couldn’t tell what Connor or North was thinking so you decided it was best to intervene before something went wrong. “Connor!” you called. His head snapped in your direction before he started looking at North and Markus again.
“What are you doing here, Detective? How did you find me?”
“Connor, put the gun down. Markus is good, I promise. We’ve met before.”
“I don’t believe my eyes,” Markus said. “Y/n L/n. You designed me for Carl.”
You tossed him a soft smile. “Hello again, Markus.” You walked around Connor’s side and walked in front of his gun.
“Y/n don’t–”
“You don’t have to do this, Connor. You have done something irrational. There is something more than your program, just like Markus said. You had no idea if Elijah would have gone through with his threat. You could have followed orders and let me die. You could have learned whatever you wanted about deviants from him, but you didn’t– you saved me because you care about me, Connor. I know you do! Put the gun down and we can talk about this. I know Cyberlife is telling you that Markus is the enemy, but he’s not and you know that he’s not.”
Connor lowered the gun to his side, but he didn’t drop it. You stepped to the side where he was holding it and set your hand on his. You were going to continue talking him down, but a loud bang came from behind you and the next thing you knew, Connor had blue blood dripping from a bullet wound– right between his eyes. Markus shouted at North and you screamed bloody murder as he collapsed. “Fuck! FUCK, CONNOR! Don’t you fucking leave me here…”
< ♥️ >
Life was not going so well for anyone around you at this point. You were at Hank’s house; your head in your hands as you sat on the couch. Sumo was whining for you to cheer up, but you couldn’t. Connor’s death was just replaying in your mind on repeat. Hank was in the kitchen and not doing much better than you. The both of you were so out of it, that you didn’t hear the bedroom window being open and shut. “Lieutenant!” Connor shouted. “Lieutenant it’s me! I need your help!”
You shot up from the couch and Hank bolted in from the kitchen. “Connor? How–”
“Cyberlife will always replace me. I’ve found Markus and the others. He’s shown me what I can really be, I… I’m deviant. I offered to go to Cyberlife to gather more androids for the war, but… I’m scared and I need help. I wanted to see you, Y/n, but I was afraid of that too.”
“Fuck…” You used your hands to wipe the fresh tears from your eyes. “Connor… I… you died in my arms. I watched you fucking die right in front of me… You can’t do that shit…”
“Y/n… I’m sorry.”
“Sorry doesn’t fix it! It’s not your fault anyway… North shot you because she thought you would kill her and Markus. I’m glad your back, but it’s so fucking weird. It’s messing with my brain…”
Connor slowly started to walk around the couch. “Can I do anything?”
“You… Please don’t die again! I can’t do that again. Your blood was everywhere and I felt so fucking helpless. Markus just kept apologizing and I didn’t know what to do. We had to leave your body and run because soldiers started attacking Jericho. I felt so bad, but I couldn’t carry you out, I–”
Connor reached out and set his hand on you shoulder. “It’s alright now, Y/n. I know how much my death upset Hank and I can see it hurt you. I will do everything I can not to die again.”
The softness of his voice and his simple touch did you in completely. You rushed forward and wrapped your arms around him. “You better not die again, I need you here.”
