This architecturally interesting 1999 house in Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba, Canada, has only 1bd & 3ba. It's 2,713 sq ft and is $849K.
Tumblr media
It also has panoramic views of Lee River & Lake Lac du Bonnet.
Tumblr media
Welcome to the angular home built on granite, and also features granite, inside. Look at the little plant sprouting out of that rock.
Tumblr media
The dining area has a door to the patio. Look at the stairs, visible thru glass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen kind of looks like a restaurant with that wall.
Tumblr media
Here's a shower room on the ground floor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a den/TV room.
Tumblr media
Then, this looks like a recreation area with a pool table, and conversation area. Plus, the 2nd fl. is visible, from the lower floors.
Tumblr media
The pool room has a fireplace.
Tumblr media
Guest powder room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the next level, there's a deck facing the water.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only bedroom is spacious and has an electric fireplace. Look at the glass wall, where the 1st fl. is visible.
Tumblr media
And, this is the en-suite, 1 of 3 baths.
Tumblr media
This addition is for guests.
Tumblr media
In the guest house there's a little sitting room.
Tumblr media
A small bedroom with a double bed.
Tumblr media
A 2nd bedroom with bunks. So, there are technically 3 bds, I would say.
Tumblr media
And, there's also a kitchenette.
Tumblr media
A 2 car garage, it looks like metal structure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Small terraces are all around the house, b/c you can't really use the yard with such rocky terrain. The real estate description says that it's low maintenance and you don't have to bother with mowing the lawn.
Tumblr media
This is the terrace for the bedroom.
Tumblr media
Tiny patio.
Tumblr media
And, here's a small area to sit. I guess you can find patches like this around the 2.27 acre property.
Tumblr media
Stairs from the house lead down to a boat dock.

"SAILING MOUNTIES BACKTRACK TRAIL BLAZED BY AMUNDSEN," Toronto Star. October 9, 1942. Page 3. ---- Conquer Northwest Passage in 22-Year Voyage Through Ice-Jammed Lanes North of Arctic Circle - Second Time in More Than Four Centuries --- ROUTE OF EPIC VOYAGE BY "SEAGOING MOUNTIES" --- Sydney, N.S., Oct. 3 - (CP)-Sgt Henry Larsen, skipper of the R.C.M.P. patrol vessel St. Roch, now in Sydney after a history-making 28-month voyage through the northwest passage from Vancouver, disclosed some details of the odyssey today.
"It was hell at times and more bay. than once we practically gave up hope of ever getting out." the skipper said. The purpose of the voyage - the first west-east trip through the northwest passage in history -was not disclosed. It took Roald Amundsen an even three years - from 1903 to 1906 - to force the passage from east to west. Larsen paid high tribute to his crew. "None of us could have made the passage without full co-operation of the others," he said. Making up the vessel's complement were Corporal M. F. Foster, chief engineer. Vancouver, Constables W. G. Peters. second engineer, Winnipeg: F. S. Foster, mate, a native of England: W. J. Parry, cook, Victoria; P. G. Hunt, seaman, and E. Hadley, wireless operator, Saskatchewan, and Jack Doyle, Campbellton, N.B.
Lost Crew Member The only thing to mar the trip, Sergeant Larsen said, was the death of Constable Albert Chartrand, 36, of Ottawa. who died from a heart attack and was buried at Pasley Bay. Members of the vessel erected a large stone cairn and cross at the grave on the shore overlooking the bay. His place was taken by Constable Doyle of Campbellton who was picked up at Pond Inlet where he had been stationed for three years. Sgt. Larsen said he and his crew had spent their first Christmas and winter at Walker Bay after setting out from Vancouver. They touched at Demarcation Point, Point Brabant on Baillie island, Coppermine, Cambridge Bay and retraced their course from Point Brabant in Queen Maud Gulf to Walker Bay after ice had hemmed them in for weeks. Pushing on early in August, 1941. they reached Pasley Bay, remaining there for 11 months before the Arctic ice again broke up to make progress possible. Storms Were Hellish "We struck a bad season. The storms were hellish at times but we managed to weather them and the ship stood up well," he said.

I get an idea for coppermin or a copperrightmin au, What if Henry really fall over edge with the truck instead of hiding under the cliff in PD(Presumed Dead)? What if TB (The Betrayed) is not real but a false memory implanted by Dr. V to get her revenge against the Toppats. Reg and RHM are both scared and confuse of why their leader want to kill Reg so badly?
I've tap danced about the idea before but Right would quickly see the cybernetics and realizes that whoever installed the cybernetics, messed with his mind. So Reginald and Right decide to "reenact" that day on the Airship where they all first met.
As Henry is chasing Reginald down, his real memories starts trickling in, memories of laughter and holding hands, of comforting hugs and talking among paper work. By the time he either reaches Right on the catwalk or Reg in the cargo bay, Henry is horribly confused on everything, finding it hard to even think.
Right pulls Henry into a hug, letting his presence calm Henry as Henry passes out from the mental exhaustion. While with Reginald, he stands still with outstretched arms, letting Henry get close before Henry passes out with tears in his eyes. Reginald gently wipes them away as he takes Henry to the medical ward.
The Toppat scientists eventually finish flushing out the fake memories from Henry's head and Henry wakes up, not on the Airship but on the Toppat Space Station, with his lover sitting by his bedside.
Henry still has nightmares, that in those nightmares he succeeds in his mission of revenge, destroying everything he cares about because he was deceived. But when Henry wakes up screaming and in a cold sweat, his loved one is there to calm him down, to chase away the nightmares and to help him back to sleep.

Time to to yell into the void about my idea for a self indulgent fix-it Temeraire/The Terror crossover
What if instead of joining the Navy, Francis (perhaps following in the path of one/some of his older siblings, particularly the 6 older sisters) decided to join the Aerial Corps? a military branch known to recruit from outside the gentry, particularly the genteel and merchant class, where being irish would not be a hindrance.
rough plot below the cut
As part of the initial overland searches for the lost Franklin Expedition, the Navy Admiralty (v grudgingly) decides to request additional assistance in the form of dragons.  The Corps deploys a Crozier’s formation to serve as advance scouting and supply transport and for the Rae-Richardson Expedition. Dragon formation was either already located at the Halifax Covert (for reasons) or sailed from england with the rest of the advance party.
the formation had previously joined JCR in searching for a dozen British whaling ships lost in the Arctic in 1835
They winter on Hudson Bay (1847-48) with the men and supplies before R-R arrival in spring of 1848.  then while the R-R overland the western portions of the north coast (the Mackenzie River to Coppermine River) with supplemental courier dragons, the Formation is charged with scouting the coast to the east.
Maybe the plan is to search from late spring to early autumn of 1848, winter on Hudson Bay again (1848-49) and meet up with Ross at the entry of Lancaster Sound in summer 1849.
and while flying the perimeter of king william island they spot the walking Expedition survivors. definitely before any scurvy get too bad but after hickey’s mutiny. Maybe Fitzjames is fully in charge at this point if his non-francis First was killed by Tuunbaq or the mutiny itself.
and given the size and number of dragons in the formation (2-3 middle weights and a few light/couriers), they can’t just up and transport everyone to the nearest outpost. so there’s a camped period where a courier is sent to get additional dragons and the formation is helping with the supplies they have. Francis and James get close while coordinating as party leaders. does he share the fact of tuunbaq stalking them?
Hickey’s mutineers were definitely following the expedition remains, so maybe he decides to try a similar lure out to nab a captain in order to ‘convince’ a dragon to fly him out.

……. 📍Coppermine Point Lighthouse (ca. 1910) After coming across information about this lighthouse I stopped and took some pictures. I’ve zoomed past it many times in the past. After reading some info and comments about it on Trip Advisor I decided not to actually walk up to the lighthouse but to take pictures from the highway so as not to trespass on private property…. 🚙 … Some history ….. The Coppermine Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1910 to watch over the entrance to Batchawana Bay, 25 miles to the south. After the light was deactivated in the late 60's a private business moved it here, to the shore of Hubbard Bay, where it stands neglected along with the now-abandoned business that moved it... 📍Directions: From Sault Ste. Marie, take ON-17 (Trans-Canada Highway) north and continue for 86.4 km (54 miles) to Hibbard Bay, where you will find Coppermine Point Lighthouse alongside the highway. *The lighthouse is privately owned. Grounds open, tower closed. Please respect private property. #lighthouse #lakesuperior #roadtrip #love #ontario #photooftheday #beautiful #photography #picoftheday #happy #follow #nature #tbt #bluecarroadtripper #explore #adventure #travelontario #travel #outside #summer #forest #highway #vacation #scenery #northernontario #coppermine #lakeshore (at Northern Ontario, Canada) https://www.instagram.com/p/Chf7IrKLb33/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“Descendants Of Raiders, Eskimos In Trouble Again,” Toronto Star. April 5, 1941. Page 29. ---- Belcher Islands Are Reported Scene of Three Murders, Believed Children --- R.C.M.P. FLYING IN --- ‘Three Eskimos murdered.’
That was the curt message that sent an R.C.M.P. airplane soaring into the north today. Headed for the Belcher Islands.
Every once in a while in the last 50 years the usually docile, stolid Eskimo population of the iron-bound group of islands in James Bay have been getting themselves into the headlines.
This time it is thought three children have been the victims, and the murders took place some time in February. The story got out when the lone white trapper on the Belcher Islands, thought to be Ernest Riddell, trekked 60 miles across ice to the Quebec shore, where he sent out the news over short-wave transmitter.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police left Ottawa by plane, stopping at Moosonee to pick up the government doctor, and by now are well on their way to the Belcher islands.
Men experienced in northern travel say a ski-equipped plane should be able to land at Belcher Islands without difficulty. They believe, if necessary, a party could be sent over the ice to the islands, which are about 300 miles north of Moosonee.
Visits by the mounties are an old story for the Belcher Eskimos. They don’t fight very often, but when they do somebody gets killed. Sometimes their fights arise out of a shortage of women. At other times food is a little scarce and it’s the survival of the fittest.
Descendants of Raiders Belcher Eskimos are descendants of those who half a century ago raided the Hudson’s Bay Co. trading post at Great Whale river and killed all but a few of the white men there.
The raid was the result of lack of food due to a bad trapping season. When the mounted police of that day caught up with the raiders they were banished to the Belcher Islands.
In The Star three years ago J. K. Doutt and Dr. A. C. Twomey of the Carnegie Museum at Pittsburgh, told of having spent four months with the Belcher Island Eskimos. They were convinced at that time that the Belcher Eskimos had a superiority complex and also had the intelligence to back it up.
These Eskimos, of whom there are 200 families, with 5,000 square miles of barren land, have as prized possessions long strings of the metal bands Jack Miner of Kingsville puts on Canada geese during their migration. The bands the women hang around their necks as jewelry. Brass cartridges are also popular. The men put them to a more practical use as metal plugs and for repairing their kayak paddles.
Can Read and Write Primitive as they are and still living as their ancestors did before them, most of these Belcher Eskimos can read and write in their own language. Despite a steady diet of fish and the animals and birds that live on fish, with a few blueberries in the summer, for variety, the Eskimos were found three years ago to be a happy, healthy race with good teeth.
The Belcher Eskimos depend entirely on the sea for their livelihood. Their clothes are made from seal skin and from the skin of the eider-duck and because they are far above the tree-line they go for miles to get a little driftwood to build a fire.
The police will have no easy task investigating the reported murders. The Eskimos may kill each other, but they don’t talk about it to outsiders, and it will probably take the R.C.M.P. months to run down those responsible.
Took Year to Trace Killers In 1915 it took Inspector LaNauze, now assistant commissioner at Regina, more than a year to find out who killed two missionary priests near the mouth of the Coppermine river to obtain their possessions.
In 1921, the late Staff Sergeant A. H. Joy arrested three Eskimos for the slaying of Robert Janes,a  trader. Inspector Phillips investigated two slayings on the islands in 1920. After a hearing before a jury composed of six members of his ship crew, Inspector Phillips made effective a recommendation for clemency and left the principals with their families who might have died had their parents been taken away.
If any arrests are made in the present case, the Eskimos will face trial in the same way as accused white men. It is likely they will be taken to Moose Factory on James Bay, for trial.
[AL: These events became known as the Belcher Island Murders, as two men, convinced their were Satan and God, killed nine other people.]
