I caught you burning photographs Like that could save you from your past History is like gravity It holds you down away from me
I saw @muzarry’s Huntlow Wedding Waltz art challenge and I wanted a piece of the action. I hope this wasn’t too far off from the initial prompt of a ballroom waltz but I imagined them having and outdoor cottagecore-esc celebration.
Some of my reference materials are below the cut along with me rambling way too much about what I’m nitpicking about the piece now that it's posted and all my mistakes are glaringly obvious (ah the power of publishing your art).
Thanks again for the fun prompt!! I already have ideas of how I’d like to redo this bc they’re just so fun to draw
Materials/references - Willow’s dress was a combination of many many Pinterest searches of embroidered flowers and about three dress ideas smushed together
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First things first how obvious is it that I hate drawing shoes? Lol if I’d planned this better, I probably would’ve just cropped the pose around their calves but then I was too far in to fix it.
This piece was really fun!! I’ve been on the procreate tutorial side of tiktok while I’m still figuring it out and I actually got to try out some lighting tips on this. Idk if I did them right but it was fun to try. I fish I'd gotten the colors a little warmer like the initial prompt image. Also still figuring out different shading techniques and styles I like. I'd like to title this piece's strategy "slap on a shading layer and then smudge the shit out of it until you get something passable."
I definitely did not draw enough flowers as a child and was running out of ways to draw leaves and petals lol. Phew that dress was a slog, but also so so fun. I have a little headcanon that it was embroidered by Darius and Camila. I've never illustrated any sheer fabrics, so this was me BSing myself throughout the entire thing, but I can't say I'm mad at the response. Clothing folds are still a headache for me, but somehow this is, better?
Also, Willow’s flower crown is made up of the red grass and flowers that Willow first greets when they get back to the demon realm — y’know, the adorable gesture that squeezes the first smile out of Hunter post Flapjack. Also, Flapjack-red tie for Hunter because obvi.
I'm afraid I made Hunter's outfit a little too close to Caleb's, but from the references of outfits and background, we ended here. So maybe his ability to wear things this close is proof of therapy and progress? y'know, if you squint past my blatant art and fashion block. I also just realized I think I was supposed to color the buttons on Hunter's vest but now I'm pretending that was purposeful
Another thing I'm weirdly nitpicky about it Hunter's hair noodle. Idk there's been something that's bothered me about it throughout the entire process but could never quite put my finger on it/fix it.
I had the idea that Willow and Hunter's rings would look like elongated versions of each other's palismen. Kind of like those little dragon rings that look like they're clinging to your finger, but I couldn't get the shape right, and Willow's ring isn't visible anyway. So maybe next time.
That may be it. Might add more as I find more and more things that annoy me. If you made it to the end of my perfectionist rambling, congratulations!! Your service and sacrifice is noted lol.
Don't forget to hydrate yourselves and have a lovely day!!

Title: Exploring Cottagecore: Origins, Traits, Variants, and Cultural Impact
In recent years, a whimsical aesthetic trend has captured the hearts of many, particularly those seeking solace in nature and nostalgia for simpler times. This trend, known as Cottagecore, has grown from a niche online subculture into a widespread phenomenon, influencing fashion, lifestyle, and social media. In this blog post, we'll delve into the origins of Cottagecore, its defining traits, variants, its remarkable growth and popularity, and its cultural impact, while also drawing comparisons to other aesthetics.
### Origins of Cottagecore
Cottagecore emerged in the early 2010s, primarily on social media platforms like Tumblr and Pinterest. Its roots can be traced back to a desire for a pastoral lifestyle, romanticizing rural living, agricultural practices, and traditional crafts. Influences from literature, particularly pastoral poetry and novels like those by Jane Austen and the Brontë sisters, played a significant role in shaping the aesthetic.
### Defining Traits
At its core, Cottagecore celebrates simplicity, sustainability, and a deep connection to nature. Its aesthetic is characterized by:
1. **Rustic Charm**: Cottagecore embraces the quaint and cozy atmosphere of rural cottages, often adorned with floral patterns, vintage furniture, and handmade decorations.
2. **Natural Elements**: Nature takes center stage in Cottagecore, with an emphasis on botanical motifs, earthy colors, and materials like wood, linen, and cotton.
3. **Homesteading and Craftsmanship**: Cottagecore enthusiasts value self-sufficiency and traditional skills such as gardening, baking, sewing, and pottery, harkening back to simpler times.
4. **Escapism and Romanticism**: Cottagecore offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life, idealizing idyllic countryside landscapes and a slower pace of living.
### Variants of Cottagecore
While Cottagecore serves as a broad umbrella term, several subgenres and variants have emerged, each with its own unique twist on the aesthetic:
1. **Grandmacore**: Inspired by the cozy nostalgia of grandparents' homes, Grandmacore incorporates vintage elements, knick-knacks, and a sense of familial warmth.
2. **Fairycore**: Infused with a touch of magic and whimsy, Fairycore focuses on fantasy elements like fairies, woodland creatures, and ethereal lighting.
3. **Farmcore**: With a stronger emphasis on agriculture and rural life, Farmcore celebrates farmsteads, barns, and agricultural practices such as crop cultivation and animal husbandry.
4. **Cottage Witchcore**: Blending Cottagecore with elements of witchcraft and mysticism, Cottage Witchcore embraces herbalism, tarot, and rituals in harmony with nature.
### Growth and Popularity
Cottagecore's rise to prominence can be attributed to its escapist appeal, especially in the face of modern stresses and uncertainties. Social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok have played a crucial role in popularizing the aesthetic, with influencers and content creators sharing dreamy imagery, DIY tutorials, and wholesome narratives that resonate with audiences worldwide. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns further fueled interest in Cottagecore, as people sought solace in domestic pursuits and outdoor escapes.
### Cultural Impact
Beyond its visual appeal, Cottagecore has had a profound cultural impact, influencing various aspects of contemporary lifestyle and consumption patterns:
1. **Fashion and Design**: Cottagecore has inspired fashion trends characterized by prairie dresses, ruffled blouses, and vintage-inspired accessories. Similarly, interior design trends have embraced a cozy, lived-in aesthetic with natural materials and handmade accents.
2. **Sustainability and Self-Sufficiency**: The emphasis on handmade crafts, gardening, and sustainable living practices aligns with growing concerns about environmental conservation and eco-conscious consumerism.
3. **Community and Connection**: Cottagecore fosters a sense of community among like-minded individuals, whether through online forums, local meetups, or collaborative projects centered around shared interests in nature and creativity.
### Comparisons to Other Aesthetics
While Cottagecore shares some similarities with other aesthetics, such as Rustic, Vintage, and Bohemian, it distinguishes itself through its specific focus on pastoral themes, nostalgia, and romanticized rural life. Unlike Minimalism or Industrial aesthetics, Cottagecore prioritizes comfort, sentimentality, and a sense of belonging in nature.
In conclusion, Cottagecore has evolved from a niche online subculture into a widespread cultural phenomenon, offering an escape to a simpler, more idyllic way of life. Its enduring popularity reflects a yearning for connection, authenticity, and a deeper appreciation of the natural world in an increasingly digital age. Whether through fashion, design, or lifestyle choices, Cottagecore continues to captivate imaginations and inspire individuals to embrace the beauty of simplicity and the charm of rural living.

Gale: He starts off trying to stick to a theme (talking about magical theory) but his inability to stick to a single topic or interest means he ends up with a more more general channel, including food and wine reviews, cooking tutorials, book reviews (both magical and otherwise), and tours of Waterdhavian hot spots (his Blackstaff Academy tour is one of his top videos!). Tara appears frequently and is extremely popular with his subscribers.
Shadowheart: Initially, it's a Sharran propaganda channel. Post-game, it's much more personal - there's a lot more content on how to move on after being involved in a cult, dealing with chronic pain and memory loss, cottagecore lifestyle stuff (especially videos of her animals), navigating grief and trauma, stuff like that. While she's initially a little shy about it, she eventually starts including some videos on her journey to refamiliarise herself with Selûnite faith, too.
Durge: Much like Shadowheart, it starts off as propaganda, albeit without showing their face - they're largely text-based, and any voiceover is disguised. After a looong hiatus, all their original videos are deleted, and while the new videos are also faceless and with a disguised voiceover, the topic is now about how to fight Bhaalists instead, and occasional, more personal vlogs (still disguised!) about their experiences in being raised by and escaping a murder cult.
Astarion: Mostly reaction videos about fashion and modern trend. Very snarky, general tone of anyone being open game to be verbally eviscerated. Has the odd video about how to not be a total fashion disaster, darling, have you tried not dressing like it's still 1485? Absolute refusal to talk about his personal life - he's had enough invasions of privacy, thank you very much.
Wyll: By contrast, very personal content, largely as a lifestyle/personal growth channel. Now that he's free of the pact, he talks openly about its dangers, talks about safety out in the frontiers, issues with body image, and estrangement from family, and is generally a very warm presence who tries to reply to every single comment he gets, does frequent collaborations, and the like. He also gets more into his personal interests as well, with dance tutorials being a particularly popular topic!
Karlach: Personal vlogs with no particular theme, rambling about whatever comes to mind. She hasn't been able to talk to regular people for so long, she really wants to make those connections! She also collaborates with others pretty frequently, and just wants to be there to make friends. Some of her vlogs can get pretty emotional, and there's probably a high chance of people developing a parasocial bond with her.
Lae'zel: So many fighting tutorials. A lot are solo, but she also does collaborations when necessary, often with Karlach and Wyll. She has a side channel where she does vlogs (fairly succinct ones, only a few minutes long, and generally months apart) about new experiences she's having in Faerûn, with Shadowheart and Gale appearing occasionally.
Halsin: A good solid channel on nature in all its aspects. He's a natural haha teacher and talks to the camera like he's sitting there with the viewer personally, going through aspects of animal behaviour, plants, the ecosystem as a whole, druidic rites and rituals, stuff like that. He also has a small series of whittling tutorials. That said, he freely acknowledges he's not great with technology, and the channel is run by his editor, Nettie, who often prints out comments for him to read and react to in a vlog series.
Jaheira: Ambiance videos of the few natural areas around Baldur's Gate, plus tutorials on urban gardening (along with Jord, who loves adding in information about symbiotic fungi and the like). Like Astarion, she remains quite tight-lipped about her private life, and sticks entirely to the topic of nature in urban environments.
Minsc: It's just ever so slightly out-of-focus videos of Boo being cute.

they have discovered algorithm (durge hasn't posted a while, bhaal temple really needs the revenue) (feel free to leave me ideas for other characters!!)

Viewing Your Giant CAS Closet by ANY Theme/Style
Tumblr media
do you want to be able to switch between viewing your grunge and lolita cc in CAS? maybe you made a fairy and you want to limit their closet to your cottagecore and plant themed cc? or maybe you just really want to track down that specific victorian era dress you downloaded...
i figured out an easy way to view cc in CAS by ANY themes or styles you choose and i wanted to share bc i haven’t heard of anyone else who does this! i have 40gb of CAS cc of all styles and this helps me find the cc i need for any style of sim.
the simple explanation is below the cut and requires a basic understanding of how to change tags for an item in sims4studio, as well as viewing items in CAS by tag. if you don’t know how to do either of these, i am linking an in-depth beginner’s tutorial here and i’m always open for questions :3
ps this doesn’t work for certain categories (skin details, tattoos, body hair, scars)
basically, in sims4studio, instead of tagging individual swatches by their actual color, i use the color tags to sort items based on theme(s). each color corresponds to a theme or style, or even multiple styles.
the colors available in CAS are red, orange, white, black, blue, yellow, pink, brown, green, purple, and gray. i have a sticky note on my computer that lists the colors and the themes/styles i organize by and i actually assign multiple themes to some colors. for example, i color tag space-themed cc as purple, or emo and vampy cc as black and apply to all swatches for that item. in CAS, when i want to view space cc, i check purple and custom content and i can see all my space cc. even better, swatches can be tagged as multiple colors and you can view multiple color categories in CAS at once. the result is a quick and easy customizable CAS closet
some categories you can organize by: historical, goth, y2k, fairy, fantasy, grunge, island, kfashion, basics, lolita, modest, western/cowboy, etc. literally whatever categories help you the most!

Witchcore Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Witchcore is an aesthetic centered around the themes of witchcraft. It often involves how to perform spells, magic, or gem collecting. It has some elements of Cottagecore or Naturecore since some of the aesthetics revolve around the outdoor setting.
Visuals
Tumblr media
Witchcore visuals vary by type of witchcraft; however, there are patterns of objects and places frequently involved in witchcraft and witchcore as an aesthetic. Here is a general list of such items:
⦁ Glass bottles ⦁ Smaller potion bottles ⦁ Plants, especially flowers ⦁ Succulents ⦁ Bouquets ⦁ Herbs ⦁ Dried plants ⦁ Mushrooms ⦁ Moss ⦁ Forests ⦁ Fields of flowers ⦁ Seashells ⦁ Candles ⦁ Lanterns ⦁ Tarot cards ⦁ Wands ⦁ Books, especially aged, leather-bound, and/or related to witchcraft ⦁ Crystals ⦁ Crystal balls ⦁ Potions ⦁ Smoke ⦁ Tea ⦁ Butterflies ⦁ Cats ⦁ Owls ⦁ Frogs ⦁ Skulls, human and animal ⦁ Moon, sun, and planet imagery ⦁ Old buildings and architecture
Fashion
Tumblr media
Witchy fashion is pretty noticeable upon seeing it, though there is not one uniform witches must follow. Witchy fashion utilizes a variety of darker hued, natural colors and black. Vintage wear from thrift stores or hand-me-downs are often seen in this aesthetic, as well as some gothic/goth/nu-goth themes and hippie/boho themes. When in doubt, google Stevie Nicks. Keep in mind that searching for witchy clothing on Google is not reflective of the true aesthetic, search tags on social media for more relevant examples or see the Pinterest boards and photos on this page. Examples of witchy fashion are below:
⦁ Vintage white wedding dresses and nightgowns ⦁ Cloaks (usually for formal rituals) ⦁ Black laced camisoles ⦁ Homemade flower crowns (see Rookie tutorial) that are often adorned with leftover craft materials such as pipe cleaners, alphabet beads, googly eyes, etc. ⦁ Comfy shoes ⦁ Barefeet ⦁ Creepers and laced boots ⦁ Shawls ⦁ Maxi dresses and skirts ⦁ Wide brim hats
Interior Decor
Tumblr media
Decor for witches are typically very natural and have some kind of use. Decor is usually either foraged, thrifted, or made but there are certain items that must be bought from small metaphysical shops. Some things like crystals, flowers, and incense can have a purpose for the craft while others can be for the aesthetic and for happiness. Key items include:
⦁ Crystals ⦁ Fresh or dried flowers ⦁ Grimoires/notebooks ⦁ Books relating to the craft ⦁ Stones ⦁ Mason jars ⦁ Plants ⦁ Sticks ⦁ Wands, drying racks, etc. ⦁ Trinkets you like ⦁ Found items in the wild, from thrift shops, or anything that has personal, spiritual, or symbolic meaning ⦁ Altar clothes and tapestries ⦁ Meditation corners ⦁ Canopies, floor pillows, etc ⦁ Incense and candles
Why We Love It...
Tumblr media
The witchcore aesthetic is another one we were exposed to in our youth. While we are no longer pagan, we were a practicing Wiccan for nearly 10 years. Even though we no longer practice, we take great comfort in the aesthetic itself. Perhaps it's nostalgia, having spent a large portion of our youth in magick shops, and bookstores. But we still find comfort, and beauty in the symbols and imagrey of witchcraft.

TDA Characters on TikTok
Julian: doesn’t post very often because he is a father but when he does it is always him painting or drawing something with lofi music or him sharing a tidbit about one of the children or other family members (Kieran, Cristina, Diana, Emma and Aline included and always with their explicit permission).
- He’s very popular without even trying and most assume he is a young single father (which isn’t wrong).
-  Mostly finds himself on cottagecore or parent side of tiktok.
- doesn’t understand all the thirsty comments he gets because “I don’t even show my face, Emma, why would they think I’m attractive?” but always shares them with Emma because they make her laugh.
Emma: Does it for the girls and the gays, that’s it. Posts nearly every day and page is generally a mixture of self defense videos, vintage makeup/dress tutorials, and videos slamming the patriarchy but also always does the latest dancing videos and other trends.
- always tries to get others to join in on her trend videos, mostly joined by Mark and Cristina when she can rope her in.
- Nearly broke tiktok when she got Julian to do the “You could have been nicer to me” trend because NO ONE KNEW THEY WERE DATING  AND EVEN THOUGH THEY COULDN’T SEE HIS FACE EVERYONE RECOGNIZED HIS VOICE AND HE WAS SO SWEET WHEN HE OFFERED TO TAKE HER TO HER FAVORITE THRIFT STORE AND BUY HER SOME DRESSES AFTER HE PUT THE “BABY” DOWN FOR HIS NAP.
- - everyone knows the “baby” is actually at least seven but no one ever said his name because he’s too young so everyone collectively knows him as “the baby”
- solidly on gay tiktok even though she’s straight.
Mark: Daily blogs. Everyone thinks he’s shit posting because it’s all wild things like standing in a middle of a circle of flowers and talking about “this pixie named Aelia lives here and she’s a BITCH”. Often shows videos of him cooking or baking wild concoctions that range from “Okay, I’d try that” to “this is why God has abandoned us”.
- Does dancing videos with Emma all the time and often acts as the “creeper” in her self defense videos.
- Caused a meltdown on tiktok when he casually mentioned his “partners” and started creating videos to raise awareness for polyamory.
- Revealed Julian was his brother when he posted a video of Julian yelling at him for a solid minute because “the baby is covered in honey, why is the baby covered in honey, Mark? We don’t let the baby bathe in honey even if he really wants to Mark -”
- solidly on cooking and gay tiktok, often takes a sharp left into “crackhead” tiktok
Kieran: Posts videos of cats he finds and rates them. The lowest ever was a 9.5/10 because “she bit me fairly hard but I scared her and I deserved it for trying to pet her without permission”.
- does not do any trends or reveal much personal information.
- Was always considered wholesome until he (on a dare from Dru) posted a video joking about choking a bossy sub that rounded up on kinktok.
-- everyone went through a brief freak out trying to figure out if he had a partner but it was never solved.
--- No one noticed that Mark posted a video joking about how “one of his partners was absolutely in the doghouse” accompanied by someone sitting in a cardboard ‘doghouse’ around the exact same time.
- solidly on animal tiktok but occasionally veers into kinktok with more (less explicit) dom/sub humor.
Cristina: Does not have her own tiktok but often appears in videos with Emma and occasionally shows up in Mark’s.
- Absolute sweetheart always, even when she is demonstrating a self defense move with Emma, and is always commended for trying Mark’s foods.
-- especially commended when trying the foods while, offscreen, their other partner yells about “Hell food”
- is flattered with all the comments begging her to start her own tiktok but doesn’t feel like she has the time to fully commit to one properly.
Livvy: (She’s alive, don’t @ me) Does absolutely all the new trends and also does various acting POVs
- her soulmate POVs are most popular but she also is known for dueting act-along POVS with other popular creators
- also occasionally posts videos rating the best male actors/superheroes and once got into a long drawn out back to back war with someone on whether or not Captain America really had “America’s ass”
- had a very popular multiple-part series about being a girl in the MCU dating the various Avengers but ended it abruptly after Endgame because “Natasha Romanoff deserved better and it hurts too much”
-she used to post occasional videos where she laments on being the “only single person in the family” but she started getting some very creepy duets and comments from actual adults so she told Julian and they both agreed it would be better for her to stop them
-- Julian did take the time to duet the people being inappropriate and explained very clearly that their actions were wrong and directed towards a LITERAL CHILD and shamed multiple accounts into flat out deleting
Ty: Posts literally whatever interests him. Has two animal series - one where he shares facts about his favorite kinds of animals and one where he showcases various animals he’s found in the tidepools or around the house.
- has done several video series of rescuing animals and has at least one where Julian could be heard lecturing him on trying to raise wild animals in his bedroom again
-- tiktok freaked out because this happened right around the same time as Julian calling out all the creeps on Livvy’s tiktok and no one knew that the twins he talked about were them
- also does videos about his favorite literary works - notably Sherlock Holmes - and true crime/mystery videos
-- he always makes sure to carefully put in warnings for anything remotely violent or triggering and has never had a single video taken down for violating the rules even when he did a multiple part series on the Black Dahlia and how her crime was ‘absolutely solved but because the man who did it was rich and white, he got away with it and probably also killed at least two other women, one of whom was killed in the Philippines”
-  sometimes does twin videos with Livvy because she likes them and it makes her happy.
Dru: Queen of witch/horror/true crime tiktok.
- got in trouble with Julian for showing actual runes in videos but everyone just thought they were for the aesthetic so it was fine
- most popular videos is a series where she rates horror movies on how they do on the bechdel test
- sometimes duets Ty’s or Livvy’s videos just to drag them (with love)
- Has a very popular series on “women who snapped” and is known for almost rarely during part 2s (and therefore having to speak very very fast)
- also complains constantly because her videos will get taken down even if they aren’t that violent and includes clips from far worse videos from male creators to point out the double standard
- occasionally dives into tiktok drama just to dabble and then sits on the sidelines and watches it happen
-- 100% built a balloon arch to flex on That Balloon Girl
- solidly on witchtok and horrortok
Kit: King of petty/messy tiktok who also posts random videos about crime and occasional blogs
- switches from either sharing no information to borderline oversharing childhood trauma
- shares videos on borderline illegal ways to get back at exfriends/expartners/exfamily members/general enemies
-- putting fish in people’s vents, subscribing them to magazines under various similar names, sending them glitter in the mail, opening their oreos and taking out the middle of all of them, putting baby locks on their cabinets and in the outlets they can’t see (like under the bed so they can’t get plug in their cellphone charger at night), etc.
- is always eating some sort of snack, no matter what he is doing
- also posts videos about personal safety like what locks will actually keep people out and what ones are easy to break into
--caused several minor freakouts when he casually mentioned his father taught him how to do it
- occasionally posts videos with an adorable toddler and a young couple who he refers to as “mom and dad” even though they look at MOST five years older than him and he often makes parental abandonment jokes/comments
- no idea where he lives because he speaks in an American accent and talks constantly about American/California life but everything around him looks very British
- absolutely dives head first into every tiktok drama and will go for the throat for anyone who makes ableist/sexist/racist/homophobic comments without hesitation
-- his drags are legendarily savage and he has caused numerous problematic accounts to just straight up disappear
- duets videos from Livvy, Dru, Mark, Emma and Julian ( with lots of savage drags) but no one knows how he knows them because he is absolutely somewhere in the UK and all of them are based in California/US
-- he also notably NEVER duets Ty
--- the mystery is finally solved when Kit does a livestream and reveals that he met all of them because he was briefly living with them before getting placed with his family, the young couple who actually are his mom and dad
---- he is very vague about the living situation but everyone assumes he was a foster child
- he once caused a mass freakout on Tiktok (that actually spilled over to twitter and buzzfeed) when he announced he was going back to the US to visit friends and then posted a video with the caption “when you see your boyfriend in person for the first time in MONTHS but he’s too distracted by some wet 🐱”
-- the video panned out from Kit’s unamused face to Ty gently rubbing a tiny wet kitten  with a soft cotton towel

Hi friend! Sorry for sending so many requests but I just keep getting ideas and your blog is like my favorite 😅 anyways how about Kita and Tendou and osamu with a s/o who wears like corsets and just overall has that cottage core vibe! Thanks love ❤️
the way you and i share the same brain and you request the best things 🥰 also ahsjsk don’t apologize for requesting 🥺 you’re always welcome here lovely!! i’m glad you enjoy my bloggg
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Absolutely adores it
Doesn’t exactly know what ‘cottagecore’ is but he thinks your clothes are so precious. Especially the corsets
Loves when you explain the differences between your corsets and their eras
One day when you were struggling to lace it up yourself he volunteered to help, he loves little intimate moments like these
Whenever he sees a cute plant he buys it, if you want a cottagecore house then of course he wants to make that happen
Plans lots of thrifting dates
Fiddles with lace bits, ribbons, anything really on your clothes, didn’t even notice he was doing it till you mentioned it
“Shin you’re blushing! So cute~”
“A little. Now I found a new bread recipe, would you like to try it out?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Asks a million questions about your fashion, it fascinates him and he wants to learn all he can
He now has a very keen eye when you go shopping
Saw you endlessly scrolling on pictures of cardigans with small embroidered plants and flowers. He went straight to tutorials on how to do and stores searching off the perfect cardigan.
“Satori how did you know! This is amazing, where did you find this?”
Couldn’t get enough of your praise when he told you he did it himself
Tries to tickle you over your corset...it never works but he’s dead set on it happening
Offers to braid your hair when he sees you get frustrated trying yourself, sometimes will put little flowers in it too
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Osamu doesn’t know what cottagecore is but he thinks it’s pretty cute how you dress
Really likes the corsets; really likes them
Once asked you to wear one to bed but got really frustrated trying to untie it. Got pouty and gave up, doesn’t like to talk about it at all
You got him a flowy dress shirt and had a little photo shoot, it went quite viral. He got a bit flustered reading all the comments about how cute you both were
He planned a gardening date, nothing too crazy just planting a small herb garden
Accidentally ended up in a lolita shop, he spotted some frilly socks that reminded him a lot of your style so he picked them up for you

7 Plus Size Cottagecore Sewing Patterns: Dresses
"Before I go into the patterns, I want to say that many basic sewing patterns can be "cottagecore-ified" haha. Much of the romantic feeling of the aesthetic comes from design elements that can be added to any pattern: lace trims, ruffles, tiers, shirring, smocking, pintucks, large collars, etc. (See my post "7 Cottagecore Essentials") Even sleeves can be altered to be larger and flouncier, etc. There are blog and video tutorials available all over the web, if your goal is complete customization of your handmade wardrobe...”

“Core” aesthetics, however, are just the tip of the iceberg. Many TikTok style tribes are amalgamations of past musical subcultures, like #EBoy which marries grunge and emo fashion with anime and video game influences. The look, which typically includes black nail polish, mismatched earrings, split-dyed hair, and black and white striped clothing, inspired Celine’s SS21 campaign last year. Other groups are inspired by nostalgia for specific time periods, like the Ed Hardy, Von Dutch and Oakley clad members of the #McBling community, who recreate the bedazzled, flip-phone fashion days of the early aughts. Subcultural styles that were once unique to specific countries, like Japanese #Decora (a childlike and cartoonish aesthetic based on excessive “decoration,” in the form of layered, rainbow accessories and jewelry), are thriving in the digital sphere, where national borders are obsolete.
These communities, which manifest as a “channel” of themed videos united by a hashtag, are not only readily accessible to all TikTok users, but also dramatically inclusive. Many include helpful tutorials, which explain how to style or align yourself with the aesthetic of your choice. A search for #Darkacademia, a subset of fashion inspired by Harry Potter and the mid-century collegiate style of prestigious universities, yields videos of literature students who advise viewers on where to find vintage earth-toned turtlenecks, sweater vests, and loafers. And inclusivity has lent itself to unending specificity. If dark colors aren’t your thing, there’s always #Lightacademia. If you’re studious, but also creative, there’s #Artacademia. And given the popularity of hilariously precise subsects like #Pastelgoth and #Birate (short for bisexual pirate) there’s clearly no such thing as too niche on TikTok. “What makes TikTok so special is the ability for people to discover, interact with and even join niche communities they didn’t know about before they joined the app,” said CeCe Vu, who leads TikTok’s fashion and beauty partnerships.
These style tribes are more than entertaining cultural curios. Their global reach, youth appeal (Gen Z makes up 60% of the platform’s usership), and rapid innovation have helped make them some of the fashion industry’s most powerful trendsetters. “Just a few hashtags that demonstrate the reach of niche communities include #Cottagecore (5.8 billion views), #Altgirl (1.3 billion views) and #Femboy (779 million views.),” Vu said. These popular style tribes aren’t only changing the way people dress, but also inspiring a broader cultural shift in our perception of the value (and acceptability) of alternative style.
Niche aesthetic communities are not unique to TikTok, but their power and popularity on the app do feel unprecedented. The staff of the Aesthetics Wiki, a digital “encyclopedia of online and offline aesthetics” said that although niche aesthetic communities tend to do better on image-sharing websites (given that video creation is far more time-consuming), fashion aesthetics are a notable exception. “TikTok actually tends to be one of the better hubs of aesthetic fashion on the internet,” the Wiki staff said.
So why do style tribes thrive on TikTok in particular? As is the case with any TikTok phenomenon, all roads point to the algorithm. The app’s crown jewel is its For You page, which inverts the typical user-selected feed building process that happens on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. On the “FYP,” users are shown an endless stream of recommended videos based on their individual preferences and past activity. With the ultimate aim of increasing watch time, the app is constantly linking users with like-minded creators, who make content that viewers are expected to enjoy. For this reason, TikTok has become an incredibly “safe” digital landscape for sartorial experimentation. By only showing users content to people that (typically) share their interests and values, the algorithm allows TikTok users to bypass the gawking and ridicule that countercultural looks can often incite in the analog world.
The algorithm does more than just create a risk-free environment for non-normative dress—it actually incentivizes it. The For You page is dictated by an internal rating system, which is based on a video’s ability to command and hold attention. In fashion, this is best done with eye-catching and extreme looks. “Instagram created and rewarded visual homogeny,” Napoli said. “And while that does still exist within aesthetic communities on TikTok, the users that break through and achieve viral fame tend to have a unique creative perspective.”

If there was some instance of time travel or alternate universes, what would the main cast dress and/or look like in the modern era? Modern AU’s of non-modern set storylines always fascinate me, so I was just wondering!
Honestly, to answer this q fully it would take a whole evening of brainstorming. But, at first impression, I imagine Anna as a v normcore late millenial girl, maybe half a step behind current trends. But she's also got some power suit jackets now, Shiv Roy style pants, for Queen purposes.
Elsa goes for fashion *aesthetics*, like high femme cottagecore would have been her vibe during the Fifth Spirit period. Does the Jameela Jamil thing where she'll just show up to coffee in a floral gown, and this is normal. She runs a vlog for make-up tutorials.
Kristoff could not care less, he just wears clothes. He has had the same shirts in his closet for eight years. I don't think his hair is any different in an AU. Ryder is developing his taste, and I could see him sort of defaulting to athleisure, for comfort, with a stylish bent - like, he has discovered sneaker culture and has opinions about shoes.
For Marie, she's obviously *very* fashion conscious, and since her transition, rather experimental. Like, look up the stuff that SOPHIE would wear, and then make it a bit more punk and butch.
Will say, for Marie's period when she was trying to comphet seduce Kristoff, the Dorian Electra Christian Starbucks Girl look is exactly the mood.
