Hey everyone it seems there a malicious individual trying to hack the sims cc community again and fill it with malware you need to stay vigilant as a creator and a downloader so
i have some tips for both to stay safe while downloading:
1- sims cc file extension is always .Package never download anything that is .exe
2- do not auto unpack zip files and rar files into your mods folder directly, open each zip or rar individually check the file extensions and drag them to your mods folder one by one
3- the only mods that have a .ts4script extension are ones that affect gameplay or how the game works, understand that if you are downloading cas or bb items you shouldn't have a .ts4script file
4- if you are downloading gameplay mods that do have .ts4script make sure that A) the creator hasn't announced on their pages that its infected B) you are downloading from a link provided by the creator of the mods themselves not something off of google or a link you got sent and make sure dates of upload match dated of announcements
5- if the mod or cc creator has retired and hasn't posted for a while LOOK AT THE DATES OF THE UPLOAD if it has been "updated recently" after the creator has left the community its most likely re-uploaded by a hacker and infected
6- download mod gaurd by Twisted mexi and keep it updated and keep your windows defender or malware detector Program up to date and always running do not disable it
7- make sure everything you download comes from a direct link from the cc creator, in this day and age do not trust link shortners, adfly, linkverse, etc get the universal bypass extension and ublock extension to stay safe but genuinely NEVER CLICK ON THOSE no matter how much the creator reassures you its safe it. is. NOT.
8- this is more of a general saftey precaution but, create a system restore point weekly before you run the game with new mods that way if anything happens you could have a chance to restore your windows to an earlier date before you downloaded anything.
9- BACK UP YOUR SHIT im serious right now either weekly or monthly put your files somewhere safe like a usb a storage card a hard drive even an online cloud if you dont have any of the previous.
10- files you should back up are your media from games and media everything else, any mods, games saves, work files, passwords, saved bookmarks, any documents txt files word files pdfs, links you saved, brushes or actions for Photoshop if you have any, any digital bills or certificates if you have any, and keep a physical list of all programs you have installed and where you installed them from
11- turn on any 2 factor authentication and security measures for any account you have
12- google and firefox have the option to check your paswords and emails against any data leaks USE THIS FEATURE and change any leaked passwords
13- regularly check your logged in sessions to make sure all the logged in devices or computers are yours and log out any that aren't and any old devices or unused sessions do this for every website and app you have an account on if available
14- change your passwords often. I know this is a hassle i know its hard to come up with new passwords but changing your passwords every few months will help you against anything mention previously that wasn't detected.
15- and as a cc creator check your cc and the accounts you host cc on and its uplaod and update dates make sure nothing has been changed without your permission :(
16- generally try not to get swept up in the "i must get it" fever you do not need to "shop" for mods weekly or monthly you do not need to download everything by that one creator you do not need to download new cc everytime you want to make a sim, im guilty of this so i know how hard it is to resist but take a breath and think "do i want this or do i need it" before downloading.
These are prevention methods i cant claim they are 100% will prevent any hacking but its better to be safe than sorry and these do keep you safe so
Brought to you by someone who has had their laptop ruined and data leaked from downloading cc once upon a time

When your Character is Sleep Deprived
Tumblr media
Sleep Deprivation - occurs when you don’t routinely get sufficient sleep at night.
Seven to eight hours of quality sleep time is the baseline for most adults, yet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that one third of American adults suffer from measurable sleep loss.
This lack of sleep can lead to disruptions in everyday life, from grogginess and delayed reaction times to serious medical conditions.
Causes of Sleep Deprivation
Many factors can prevent you from getting a good night's sleep. These include:
Sleep disorders: Certain conditions like sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome can interfere with healthy sleep.
Mental health conditions: Depression and anxiety can be sources of severe sleep deprivation.
External stimuli: Loud noises, bright lights, and hot temperatures can all prevent you from getting enough sleep.
Work schedules: Shift work at night can clash with your natural circadian rhythms and trigger sleep deprivation.
Physical activity: Exercise can inhibit sleep onset if scheduled too close to bedtime.
Effects of Sleep Deprivation
The consequences of sleep deprivation can be serious. A person operating on insufficient sleep may face increased risk of the following effects.
Daytime drowsiness: A poorly rested person can go through the day feeling groggy. This can lead to drowsy driving, car accidents, mental slip-ups, and poor cognition.
Microsleep: In addition to general drowsiness, a person running on very little sleep can experience microsleep—very short bursts of unconsciousness that feel like blacking out.
Mood swings: A person overcome by sleepiness may be cranky and irritable, and they may also experience headaches that further sour their mood.
Memory issues: Poor sleep patterns that cause a person to get less sleep have the potential to affect memory recall.
Tips for Avoiding Sleep Deprivation
To ensure you get consistent and sufficient sleep duration, consider the following strategies.
Stick to a bedtime routine. Sleep difficulties can stem from inconsistent schedules and routines. Improve your sleep hygiene by creating consistent sleep habits and a bedtime routine. This may involve stretching, an evening shower, or a cup of tea.
Avoid digital screens before bed. The blue light of electronics can mimic the effects of sunlight and prevent your body from entering its natural sleep cycle. Keep digital devices out of the bedroom, and when you must use them before bed, use a blue light filter that keeps the most disruptive light out of your eyes.
Consider a natural sleep remedy. Supplemental melatonin can help you fall asleep when your routine sleep schedule has been disrupted. Take care to not build reliance on sleep medications that may dampen the restorative effects of REM sleep and non-REM sleep.
Lower the temperature of your bedroom. A nighttime room temperature of 60 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit signals to your brain that it’s time to sleep.
Practice mindful relaxation techniques. A bedtime ritual of deep breathing exercises and slow exhales can promote progressive muscle relaxation. Mindfulness can also eliminate tension while allowing your body to drift into drowsiness and get enough hours of sleep.
Monitor your health conditions. Certain medical conditions, like sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome, can impair sleep onset and deprive you of sleep over the course of the night. Seek medical advice for handling such conditions, and work with your healthcare provider to develop treatment and coping strategies.

My Gender is [NOT] Human Zine is Now Accepting Submissions!
Xenogender: A gender that cannot be contained by human understandings of gender; more concerned with crafting other methods of gender categorization and hierarchy such as those relating to animals, plants, or other creatures/things.
This zine will be a collection of artwork, writing and more created by alterhumans and nonhumans to express both their species identity, gender, and how they intersect. While this zine will have an xenogender slant, everyone who has something to share about how their species and gender overlap are encouraged to submit pieces! Similarly, if you are currently questioning, you are still welcome to participate. Anonymous submissions are accepted.
What Can I Submit?
Both fiction and nonfiction pieces are accepted. As long as what you have in mind fits the theme, it’ll probably be a-ok.
Off the top of our head, we’re thinking of:
Essays of your personal experiences
Short stories
Poetry
Advice columns
Artwork
Fictional advertisements
Comics
Mock interviews
This is far from an exhaustive list, we welcome you to think outside the box!
How to Participate
Please email your completed submission to ruffledgryphon(@)gmail(.)com and title the email My Gender is Not Human Zine Submission.” Also make sure to include the following information in your email:
A name you would like the piece attributed to
Title of your submission
Any content warnings that you feel are necessary for the piece
Any social media handle or personal website you’d like listed in the contributor section
A logo or icon for the contributor section
**If you would like to stay anonymous please let us know
Members of systems are welcome to submit individually or collectively. Please let us know your preference when it comes to attribution.
Once the deadline has passed, the submissions will be crafted together into a single zine and it will be posted on our itch.io as a free PDF.
Submissions are due by May 1, 2024.
Our itch.io: https://ruffledgryphon.itch.io/
Submission Guidelines
Each individual may submit up to 3 works to be featured in My Gender is [NOT] Human. Comics and multi-image works count as one piece. Individuals within a system may each submit up to 3 works. All work must be your own! Anyone caught plagiarizing or submitting AI-generated work will be barred from entering My Gender is [NOT] Human and any future zines from us.
Written submissions should not exceed 30 pages and multi-part art entries should not exceed 10 pages. Please keep in mind the zine’s pages will be 8.5x11 and entries will be scaled accordingly to fit that size. We request all art submissions to be sent in either .jpg or .png file formats.
For stories that use multiple different fonts, we will do our best to preserve the general “feel” of your piece but cannot guarantee we will be able to use the exact fonts or sizes due to restrictions in what fonts we have access to, readability and overarching zine style.
Submissions must fit the thematic criteria of
About the intersection of gender and species identities
If you’re not sure if you count, feel free to reach out to us. However, we will be leaning on the side of “Yes! We’d love to hear from you!”
FAQ
Q: Where will the zine be hosted? What will it cost? A: The zine will be hosted digitally on our itch.io and will be free to download. Our itch.io can be found here: https://ruffledgryphon.itch.io/
Q: Is there a cap on submissions? A: There is none, as long as the file doesn’t start getting too big for our computer we’ll do our best! If there are an unprecedented amount of submissions, we may have to delay the release. In the event that happens, we would communicate that through updates on our tumblr.
Q: Can I update my application after it’s been submitted? A: Yes you may, as long as that is communicated to us before the submission deadline.
Q: Can I rescind my submission? A: Yes you may, as long as that is communicated to us before the submission deadline. This is because once we begin work on the zine, having to remove content mid-way through would throw off the formatting of everything else after. Please take this into account before submitting.
Q: Will this zine allow NSFW entries? A: No, nothing 18+ will be accepted.
Q: What is your timeline for the project? A: Our submission deadline is May 1, 2024. We are then planning to spend the next month compiling all of the entries. Our goal is to have the zine live by June 1, 2024. If something unforeseen happens and we are unable to make that deadline, we will post an update about it on our tumblr.
Q: I have another question! A: Feel free to reach out to us at our email ruffledgryphon(@)gmail(.)com or here on tumblr  with any other questions you have about the zine.

HOW I PERSONALLY ORGANIZE MY DIGITAL ZINE MASTERCOPIES!
Hey zineovators, hello every'all. I am here to note down how I (PERSONALLY) fix around and assign my digitally-made zine mastercopies for easy access. This isn't meant to be a guide and it surely isn't the "correct" way to file zines, nor is this necessary, it might even be redundant for a lot of people, but this is just the way I do it. I have some really crappy guides throughout my yap session, BUT I will provide a REAL example using my own zine at the end! anyhow, let us begin! WHY DO I BOTHER?
because it makes my personal zine creation process more manageable
organization makes it less daunting for me to actually go through with the creation process
It tickles my fish brain to file and sort things, and it makes me happy to do so
so yeah, it all boils down to personal preference. I like making my digital process cleaner and a bit more streamlined, but you really don't have to follow me or use me as a standard. I just do what I do best.
That aside... TERMS I COINED AND WILL BE USING AND EXPLAINING (LIST) (yes this is based off of A/B/O but also coding)
ALPHA Mastercopy (A-Copy, Alpha copy)
BETA Mastercopy (B-Copy, Beta Copy, Physical Mastercopy)
OMEGA Mastercopy (O-Copy, Omega Copy, Assembled Mastercopy)
PRELIMINARIES!
A master copy in my own words is the original mother version of your zine that you can use to duplicate or create more copies for distribution purposes. You usually do not give a master copy away especially if you plan to make more prints of a specific zine design in the future! Also, I'm using the classic 8-page mini-zine format as an example here because...I specialize in mini-zines, lol. With that in mind, here is the portion you are waiting for.
ALPHA MASTER COPY (i.e.. RAW DIGITAL FILE)
Tumblr media
The Alpha copy is the version of your zine that you made/scanned into a digital format. Typically I would use a PDF along with the zine design that I pre-formatted for this due to the clarity and easy access of PDF files. I avoid .png or .jpg because flattening my zine files tends to crush the text quality, by a LOT.
The Alpha copy doesn't have to just be the formatted version already. It can be individual panels, single pages, artwork or scanned pages, etc. That's also an alpha copy, but in its own way. The version I'm talking above is print-ready copy that is already prepared.
Tumblr media
^ THIS counts as an alpha copy as well.
Now down below is an example of my own alpha copy in PDF format, featuring my DAVID SYLVIAN zine (I'll try to upload it on an archive soon, it will be completely free! Pls tell me in advance if you'd like to reproduce and distribute it irl since I dont want to get sued </3)
Tumblr media
btw the tagline "be seen, make a zine" was taken from brattyxbre on YouTube. I would gladly recommend her for zine resources, discussions and zine-related topics, especially if you are a beginner!
BETA MASTER COPY (i.e.. PRINTED TEMPLATE)
Tumblr media
Your Beta copy is a version of your zine that is printed on paper with the proper formatting for folding/cutting already. The only difference with this version and omega copy is, well, you DON'T fold or cut this copy.
The primary purpose of a B-Copy is to check:
print quality (text visibility, color vibrance, ink bleeding, etc.)
graphic size and an overview of your zine's general physical appearance.
And the other, marginally vital role of your B-Copy is to serve as:
the physical print that you can use for XEROX (photocopying) or other copying services and tools
scannable output that you can scan/copy for distribution, especially if the person who wants your zine would like to assemble it themselves, if you do not have a final version of your zine on hand to share, or you yourself do not have your A-Copy for reproduction.
A printed copy that you can catalogue or archive, especially if you are the sort of person who retires zines, or are just deeply sentimental (like me, lol!).
Down below is the B-Copy of my example zine. Ignore the fact that this is literally my omega copy that I just dismantled because I don't have my Beta in hand lol. But approximately this is how it looks like.
Tumblr media
I personally store B-copies (alongside O-copies) inside a dedicated clearbook or binder to safeguard against weathering or chemical ink deterioration, alongside some information and stuff about the zine itself. This is useful especially if you want to showcase zines and zine content to others, apart from safekeeping purposes.
I might make another longform infodump about digital and physical zine storage and archiving processes (because as an aspiring librarian I feel it is my duty to rant about that) but that will be for another time.
OMEGA MASTER COPY (i.e., FINAL EXAMPLE PRINT)
Tumblr media
Okay this is kind-of self explanatory, but I will elaborate regardless.
If you are the sort of person who handcrafts zines (aka make, draw, write or assemble them traditionally) you likely know what the O-Copy is, because your original finished zine is what I am referring to as the Omega copy. That is, the ACTUAL "Master Copy" itself.
Omega Master Copy is what most zinesters and zine creators refer to as just the master copy. But seeing from this post, you KNOW I had to make it fancier (read: unnecessarily complicated)
The Omega copy serves as your first official print, and you can use this version to store or show around. The only difference is, if you end up using my organizing format (good luck!), you'll end up using the O-Copy more as a finished product display to show how it looks when finished as an assembled copy, and the B-Copy as the actual thing you use to reproduce or duplicate your zines for distribution.
Here is the example of my O-copy for my example zine. (again you will be able to access this through an archive soon, maybe I will announce it later on or just post about where I store them digitally.)
Tumblr media
I used the software development jargon ALPHA, BETA & OMEGA because it kind of fits(?) lol. I am not a coding aficionado but I know loosely enough to utilize the words. But also, live laugh omegaverse. hopefully this helps(?) but also if you reached to this point, hi. I'm glad you indulged in my little rant. EDIT: here's the Internet Archive Link for the specific zine featured in this post! Have fun! Communicate, create, zineovate! Until next time.

Star Trek: Discovery might have wrapped its fifth and final season, but it’ll never truly be over!
I’m currently seeking submissions for the first annual Celebrate Discovery Zine, a collection of art, fanfic, essays, poems, how-to’s, and photographs.
Submissions are open August 1-September 1, with publication scheduled for September 24. At this time, only a digital release is planned; however, a high-res, print-ready version will be available for anyone wanting to print the issue for themselves.
Submissions can be sent as attachments (rtf, doc, docx, pdf, jpg, or png) or in the body of the email to jordanlafordan [at] gmail.com. Please do not send links.
Nothing created using AI generative tools will be accepted.
Unfortunately, this is not a paid opportunity. Reprints (meaning the piece already appears elsewhere, like AO3, your blog, Tumblr, etc.) are welcome!
For all pieces:
- Star Trek characters, settings, timelines, etc, from other series are fine, but it must include something/someone from Discovery.
- Original Characters are welcome, as long as they’re Discovery-related.
- Don’t worry about canon, and any Discovery timeline is welcome.
- While thoughtful critique of Discovery is welcome, the intent of this zine is to celebrate the show.
For written pieces:
- Nothing over 3,000 words will be published, though if your piece is longer and available elsewhere or if you’re submitting one chapter of fanfic, we’ll provide a link to the rest of it.
- Content warnings will be included at the beginning of the piece, if applicable, though we won’t accept anything that includes sexual violence, violence toward animals or children, or “open door” physically intimate scenes.
For art and photographs:
- No depictions of sexual violence, violence toward animals or children, or nudity will be accepted.
- Please only send non-blurry, high-resolution images.
If you have any questions, please send an email to jordanlafordan [at] gmail.com, or send an ask!

i love your art so much i can't even describe it!! for the past year, every time i see it, it inspires me to create and improve so much i can't be jealous; i can only work harder hoping i can invoke the same feeling in someone else one day. your masterful use of loose lines and cozy colors never fails to make me happy on the rainiest day. do you have any tips for establishing such atmospheres, such as color selection or particular poses or expressions? (i don't write very well, sorry if this seems confusing) -an anon who appreciates your work to the fullest
Oh my god anon, you are so sweet, thank you so much (ಥ﹏ಥ) It means so much to hear I inspire someone to draw and I'm happy I can motivate you! <3 Please keep it up and I would love to see what you are making if you ever feel like sharing it! x) I'm so happy to hear my art has such a positive impact on you!! Okay so regarding your questions! When it comes to colors I recently made a coloring tutorial where I also went a bit into how I select colors, how I shade and what my go to effect layers are, you can find it here but it's also currently pinned at the top of my blog! I explained it in my tutorial but I will say it here again, I rely a lot on effect layers. That isn't wrong by any means and is what I would argue most digital artists do but if you want to learn actual color theory that goes beyond what colors compliment each other I unfortunately cant help with that on my own nor do I have any guides at hand to redirect you to :") Speaking of complimentary colors though, knowing your color wheel and which colors contrast each other already helps a lot! My favourites are green/red and orange/blue! To give some examples: green/red
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are less about an atmosphere achieved through lighting but more about the general subject matter of the piece. They are both more ominous and uh, bloody and threatening. And for Orange/Blue
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The orange and blue combination is something you see in a lot of movies, for example Mad Max Fury Road or Blade Runner 2049 and many many more which have likely influenced me on what colors I chose in my art to some extend. Paying attention to media other than your own helps a ton and can totally improve on how you approach you art! Like, obviously I draw mostly anime/manga esque art and I get most of my inspiration from manga and video games, but I also try and look at buildings when Im outside, look closely at shot compositions in movies and so on! Other inspirations that have helped me are artbooks from my favorite games/shows/series, if you enjoy those x) Theres probably PDFs to be found of a lot of artbooks online if you don't want to spend money on them. I know you didn't directly ask what my inspirations are lol but they absolutely helped me! OKAY SO now about poses and expressions. Since you mentioned my loose lines, I have very good advice for that: Draw without erasing. Get a scrap book or some lose paper, cheap paper! And a pen you cant erase, such as a fineliner or a ballpoint pen and then draw. Do not go into it with the intent to make an actual good drawing, just. Draw! Draw half finished faces, hands, bodies, cats, whatever you feel like. Fill up the entire page. If you don't want to waste any paper, do it digitally but don't erase! Do that a lot. You will train yourself to draw loser and loser as time goes on. I've always had the habit of doodling onto everything mindlessly and I still do so I never had to actively practice drawing lose lines but thats most likely the reason why I draw the way I do! I actually have some examples from today because I got distracted at work:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just draw whatever comes to mind until the page is full. I usually don't even keep these pages :") It has helped me a lot though. Uh yeah thats pretty much everything?? Thanks so much again for sending this ask, it was a very sweet thing to wake up to and I hope my rambles here can be of any help and to you good luck in your art endeavors!! :) <3

How big will the park be?
The park size will scale with the amount of contributors, but we are looking to create at least 5 main areas with a few activities each, and a lot of smaller features tying the areas together and representing a wealth of fandoms!
Will the park attractions and features need to be canon, or can they be derivative?
We are hoping to make a park with a lot of derived content! Inspired by real-life themed attractions, a ride or building can be based on any canon concept or story beat, and we encourage transformative work.
What content is allowed in the zine?
Content guidelines will be specified in a future information post for applying contributors. As a baseline, all content must be MCYT and theme park-related in medium and context, and SFW, with a maximum rating of PG-13. This is by no means a comprehensive or even useful post. I’m just ranting.
If AI is bothering you
-Consult books published before 2023. This goes for pretty much any field. If you’re an artist, picture books and photography journals. Visit your local libraries. Consult digital collections and archives if local libraries are inaccessible.
-Be strenuous in your search for information. Don’t rely on Google to provide you an offensively inaccurate summary. Read discourse, essays, journals. Watch archival footage. Listen to testimonies. Discuss it with someone, write your findings down. Evaluate them, consider what your research is missing and fill in those gaps.
-If you’re an artist, draw from observation. Don’t consign yourself to digital imagery. Get out there. Draw your pets, draw your family, draw in cafes or wherever you find yourself. Draw yourself. Draw what’s in front of you.
-Consider owning physical copies of art. Support artists in a way that is tangible. Indulge in CDs, vinyls, cassettes, DVDs, artist books, prints, so on. It can be expensive but there are routes; online second-hand, thrift, local stores, PDFs, etc.
-Keep making art. Breathe. Do not stop. Everything that you do can be an art. Write your lists, write your thoughts, draw, paint, sculpt, knit, crochet, sew, collage, dance, sing, compose. If you’re struggling to find patterns in online spaces, consider buying patterns from charity shops, or consult Internet Archive and other spaces similar. Heck, consult the oracle! (an old or relative or kindly elderly who is bound to knit or crochet, or even learn from your friends! Share!!)
-Support each other. Do not give into fear, do not withdraw.
-Consider and revel in the fact that you exist in a way that is tangible, breathable, real. You impact the world around you and the lives of others. Consider how you want to impact people and your environment. You have every right to leave your mark upon this world and upon the memories and consciousnesses of others in a way that is meaningful and significant. Keep making art, because if nothing else it is the way in which one lives and processes life. Those who use AI, those who acknowledge it as being a challenge to us in such a way that it can replace us are ignorant and weak. They want to replace us, to displace us. We must not let them. Disengage with them. You have the gift of articulating something intrinsic to the human experience in a way that is unique and personal to you and that can connect with others. Art is an extension of our minds, souls, experiences. Do not let these be unaccounted for, unspoken, unwritten. Artificially generated content, as it is not art and we should cease to refer to it as such, is the detritus of a sick and loathsome machine. Any system that gladly hails and receives it is a sick, inhumane system. Do you want to be a part of it?
Do not partake in it and do not let it have power over you. You make art because you exist. All that you do is art. You are a human being, a real human being who refuses to consign that which makes you so. The most powerful and most significant thing that you can do is to retain your humanity. Connect with the physical, keep breathing, keep making art. You are alive, and you must cherish that fact. You are alive, and that is reason enough to create.

Jude's World is now LIVE on Kickstarter. But should you back it? Read on to find out more.
Jude's World is a solo journaling game about a precocious preteen trying to get their parents back together. It's a coming of age story and an exploration of different kinds of love. It's bittersweet and comedic in tone, with a healthy dose of 90s nostalgia for those who partake. The game has taken a year to develop, including extensive play testing. You can find out more about all that from my development diary posts on this very website. Including the inspirations and ethos behind the game, if that's of interest to you.
To play you need a tarot deck, a journal, and 2d6. I've also produced a bespoke workbook to help you keep track of the people you meet and the keepsakes you find throughout the game. A physical copy of this comes with one of the reward tiers, but you get a printable pdf version with the digital tier as well.
It's a simple play loop, easy to generate story and super fun to create your own version of Jude and walk around in their head.
More details, including a short video of me talking through the game, can be found on the campaign page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/buttonkin/judes-world

HEY YOU!!!!!!! RECITE THE NUMBERS OF PI (/nf!)
I appreciate your use of the /nf tone tag, which I am to assume is short for "not forcing" -- doing so is very thoughtful and reduces the pressure to answer a question. I will, however, gladly answer this one as I have memorised quite a few digits of pi, though it would be impossible for me to know the whole number with every decimal place because even today's computers have been unable to find an end to the number. I have always been rather good at memorising numbers -- for example when I watched Star Trek: The Next Generation I was able to memorise a security code said by Leitenent Commander Data which was fifty two characters long and went, 173467321476C32789777643T732V73117888732476789764376. The number can be heard in the viral song "Data and Picard" which sampled dialogue from the series to create a rather catchy tune. The song is, of course, in English, though I originally watched the show with Japanese subtitles. I can speak English but it makes watching a TV series slightly more laborious as I have to translate every line of dialogue in my head before understanding the communication between the characters. It can provide a bit of mental stimulation, though, so when I am in the mood I sometimes watch foreign films or TV shows without subtitles. Anyway, you asked me to recite Pi and I still haven't done as you requested! You can find Pi by calculating 22 divided by 7. As you probably know, 7 fits neatly into 21 (three times to be exact) but does not fit so perfectly into 22, and this is why we are left with such an awkwardly long number. Since 7 fits into 21 three times, the first digit of Pi is of course 3, but there are many decimal places that come after that. If you look online you can find a downloadable PDF which shows the first million digits of Pi. When I first heard of the number Pi I was rather confused, as I thought that surely many calculations would result in an awkward number that had no foreseeable end -- at the time I did not realise that Pi was an important factor of several mathematical formulas, such as the one used to calculate the area of a circle. I sometimes wonder how these incredible things are discovered -- I suppose when someone is incredibly proficient in mathematics it must become enjoyable to play with numbers until one stumbles across a startling discovery. Mathematics may seem abstract and, in some cases useless while learning it in school, but if it weren't for those knowledgable in the subject we really wouldn't be where we are today, and even those who are not mathematicians often need a basic knowledge of the subject.
