Random Naruto rewrite ideas bc tumblr is my journal now and im feeling creative but lazy.

{Inspired by the original premise of the story (or maybe it was just an in-show rumor, memory fuzzy)} Genderswap Naruto's parents, have Kurama actually be Naruto's dad, and give Kurama a human form. His mom is the Kazekage who at first kept having to fight Kurama until the fox spirit developed a scheme to seduce her into lowering her guard. It ended up back firing bc he actually fell in love with her, but, long-story short it doesn't end well for either of them.

When Kurama's chakra leaks out it's usually linked to rage and muddies Naruto's own emotions with Kurama's hatred for Konoha and humans in general.

Naruto uses his knack for transformation jutsus to "become someome else" so often that its practically a habit. He even tries to introduce himself to his team under a guise that quickly gets blown, amd is often caught entering a village in a different form or shifting when he gets in trouble.

Overtime Naruto learns to live as himself and exercise his right to live his own life in Konoha. He also learns to accept both the good and the bad about his origins, as he learns to do the same for others.

Also he grows out his hair over time. no way this wild child is gonna mind cutting his hair. So he ends up resembling Jiraya in that regard, like, Jiraya with a beard or somethin.

Sakura is a plain old normie, who's more down to earth. She still starts off a bratty know-it-all, but once she gets out of her social competition mindset, her virtues as an intelligent, adaptible, hard worker with a knack for genjutsu and medical ninjutsu start to shine. I actually like the idea that she occassionally goes off and does her own thing to accelerate her improvement without Sasuke or Naruto there to do all the heavy lifting, not only so that she's better help to her team but also so she stands a chance against more vicious ninja if she ends up on her own. Her fighting style is inspired by the Black Tiger Fist. She also takes after Kakashi in learning many different kinds of jutsu, even finding ways to pull off chakra-heavy jutsu by basically performing a lesser version. Her fireballs may not be as hot as Sarutobi's but she can still do them, and it comes in handy.

Shiore and her team are reoccuring characters, could be any role tbh. I just wanna see more of them. Maybe they end up "conveiniently" bumping into certain teams during missions or training. They exchange information through careful small talk to track the worldly news, influence eventsin their favor and watch their own backs, but they aren't necessarily friends or enemies.

Rock Lee is the main character, and wears black or dark green/blue clothes that resemble historical ninja attire. On top of being a taijutsu specialist he also is a history nerd who is very proud of Konoha.

Mix up their Adult heights ya? Like, some short folks and some tall folks. Built folks and lanky folks. Choji and Hinata should not be the only ones with a distinct body types.

Sasuke, as a kid actually wants nothing to do with ninjas, he's enrolled bc he's an orphan, and an Uchiha, but he's "scheming" to somehow get out of it, and in the meantime makes sure he's really good at his job so that he can rank up faster and have more say in where he goes/what he does.

Has PTSD.

Kakashi, unintentionally ends up being like an older brother or father figure to Sasuke, they have a falling out at some point bc Kakashi is also an actual mess, but they reconcile eventually and help eachother get through the bullshit of the ninja world.

The Sharingan is a lot more limitied, like, it just tracks faster movements and effects people's perception of reality (genjutsu). That's it.

Hinata and Neji wear kimonos at first, like the rest of their clan, then wear more deviating clothing later (or maybe Neji keeps wearing the kimono)

The Byakugan is like rolling a 10 on perception. They're the eyes of Konoha, and on top of seeing physical weak spots and points to exploit, the Hyuuga also tend to attack their opponents psychologically. Some even think they're telepaths. In general, its very difficult to hit a Hyuuga, genjutsu a Hyuuga, and stay indifferent to a hyuuga when they try to get in your head. It makes them hard to trust even when they're nice. so their members are easily socially isolated from the rest of Konoha.

Neji was actually planted on Tenten's team to gather info on the Senju Clan. (I love the Tenten is Senju theory) but he ends up learning more about them from Lee.

Hinata has black hair.

Kiba's and Akamaru are inspired by the Shiba Inu dog breed. Members of their Clan don't normally become ninjas, they're more or less just doing their own thing , but Kiba's calm and reserved personality and skills made him ideal for spying/tracking, so some Konoha officials pull some strings to get him on a reconnaissance team. He's still very dog like, but he's a silent deadly dog and ends up adopting his team as his packmates- very protective of them.

Akamaru is a normal sized dog... with a shiba inu based design.

The sand siblings start out as evil bullies and end up as friendly bullies, but they keep their rough edges well into adulthood bc why wouldn't they?

After Gaara gets beat up by Naruto, at first he's pissed. But then, as he's processing the encounter he ends up misinterpreting it as "use other people for your own gain" its only after some life happens and mayne a few more bumps into Naruto that he actually understands that the point is wanting to protect people you love.

He also ends up becoming more expressive since he develops an interest in actually interacting with people beyond killing people and following orders. Gaara still comes off as an asshole but that's just his Suna accent (yes I headcannon that Suna are generally a bunch of disconnected assholes- like, Kankuro was about to beat up a toddler for fun just for bumping into him. And he's the Kazekage's son lol.)

There would be more elaboration on Suna's rag-tag nature and instability. They may even go through a political recession/collapse after the failed attack of Konoha- especially if other enemies-- the ones that put pressure on them, see it as an opportunity to scamble them like eggs.

Um... *twaddle's fingers*.

Juugo's power isn't a Clan thing, but an anomoly. Like a mutation or some sort, probably caused by some spirit or jutsu gone wrong. Like a tragic wish story or somthin.

UUmm.

Itachi's deal is that he left Konoha after processing the fact that he was so indoctinated as an Anbu that he actually killed his own family just to stop a suspected uprising. So he goes "eyo fuck this" and leaves Konoha with a deep hatred for his home village.

The Akatsuki are just a gang of rougue cimminals who agree not to bother eachother or rat eachother out, most end up teaming up for common interests and its usually an ironic pair. Itachi didn't want to join at first, but his fish pal happens to be part of the group and when confronted by them he ends up accepting the ring begrudgingly.

UM...

Occasionally senseis exchange footnotes or team up/temporarily swap out, to allow certain members to bemefit from a sensei that specializes in their stregnth. Like Kurenai being a good genjutsu teacher for Sakura, or Asuma being a good kaijutsu teacher for Tenten, Might Gai could help Sakura with her taijutsu. it would also contribute to the theme of interconnectedness. This wouldn't even be a formal process, just something the senseis figure to do on their own bc its good for their students.

this month's monthly f/f discourse on twitter just made me sad but now im thinking. how is there meant to be change in attitude if the people who are up in arms monthly over this.... don't want to lead by example? they just want to make hot take posts and scathing critiques of "misogyny" but they aren't doing the leg work associated with fandom by, well, writing fic. like, no one wants to be lectured in a leisure space but they don't want to get the ball rolling by inventing tags because.... its cringe??? then why do you care??? or because theres no engagement??? yeah no shit, but that's not unique to f/f ships

i imagine its because at the end of the day, feeling superior over other people through tweets is much easier and much more addicting than staring at a blank google doc trying to remember what the word your thinking of is

2. My student nearly fell asleep during class today and it was not great but she was very cute

3. I made two scrunchies yesterday (which was my first time making scrunchies period) and my little sister liked them enough to steal them (??? uncertain if this is bc they’re good or just bc she likes stealing my things)

4. You don’t have to wear socks at home! You can just be barefoot! Yeahhhh

5. I got this really lovely series of comments on ishte and I’m just. Yeah that fic is my baby. Also we’re somehow almost at 70k with that fic. How.

i'm helping out at a creative writing workshop for uhhh i think 10-12s? 10-14s? idk. but that age range. and anyways

a) i forgot how fun this is

b) it's really hard not to like, re-write for them and stick to just "hey add descriptions here, change this grammar, really cool ideas!" bc i'm an adult and not trying to talk over/railroad these kids, but i'm just so excited for their ideas!!!

c) little boys write cool stuff like "what if we went to mars but it sucked so we left, but left behind all our technology and the technology rose up and created its own society and then went to war with us for abandoning them? what if transformers had 100x the war crimes? what if the earth blew up. what if we were the robots all along?"

d) little girls out here writing like "aunt melanie's skin was sloughing off the bones as her beloved dogs tore her apart, turning on her in blind animal instinct. the second she stopped providing food, she became food." and a lot of body horror and dark themes about group pacts and betrayals and ritualistic murder/sacrifices. like a lot

Mhor Dhona. Shortly before the awakening of omega and the events that would liberate ala mhigo

A gentle breeze washed through mor dhona, carrying the smells of the nearby lake with it. The skeletal like remains of the mighty dragon looming over the small town the scions called home

Haellen had recieved a request from the man she didn't realise she would became such a trusted friend, and fellow enthusiast within the allagan history fields. The man formerly known as nero tol scaeva, requested to see her outside the walls of mor dhona in private in the early hours of the morning, past midnight. He wished to talk to her about something

The corrospondences the two had over letters after the crystal tower had brewed quite the friendship between the two. And in haellens case a budding love interest, though she did not realise it yet. She of course happily accepted the request to meet nero, arriving early and waiting silently as she read through some of her research notes on allagan ruins she had studied

The sounds of bootfalls against the ground brought her attention up as the tall blonde head of nero came into her view. Clearly visible over her book, she stood straight up and smiled "Ah. Mister scaeva"

"You're early aren't you?" Nero responded with a smirk as he approached "Couldn't wait to bask in my presence once more could you?" He smiled smugly

"I feel it more accurate to say bask in your smell, when was the last time you washed these tatters?" Haellen said with a smirk as she pulled at the tattered brown coat he wore. Teasing him with a joking tone and smile "Its good to speak face to face again mister scaeva"

"I too share the sentiment haellen" Nero responded with a friendly tone and smile "I'm sure you're wondering why i called you out here at this hour of the night?"

"I assume it wasn't to talk about allagan history or technology. There's no need to hide our shared interest at least, so i assumed it was something on a more personal matter..." Haellen fell silent as she shoved her notes back into her pocket "Mayhaps our... More personal letters of recent?"

"Your deductive skills never fail to amaze me. Though i suppose i should expect such skill from the famed warrior of light yes?" Nero chuckled quietly

"Yes. I wanted to talk to you in person about our more personal writings of late" He continued "Tone can often be lost in ink and writing. So i wanted to... See where we stood" He said simply "If one did not know better you could perceieve our writings as romantic" He chuckled softly at the thought... After all, he would never have a chance with the warrior of light. He'd sooner take his chances returning to the empire than confessing the interest he had at persuing a relationship, something about her had captivated him

"Oh" Haellen's cheeks flushed a gently pink "Right. That" She laughed a soft and nervous laugh "Yes i too noticed that. I cannot deny the undertones my ink carried. Loathe i am to admit such a thought did cross my mind"

"Is it a simply idle thought or more than that?" Nero added

"...I'm unsure" Haellen responded with her usual casual demeanour "How would one even confirm such feelings when they barely entertain them? between my job and work. And then the hobby of being the warrior of light" She chuckled softly "Well i've barely time to consider my social circles let alone my romantic interests"

Nero raised a brow "Are you..." He chuckled softly, shaking his head "Well. I'd like to think that you do think about me sometimes, maybe in the cold nights where you'd appreciate warmth in your bed?" A half joke, a half hearted attempt at shooting his shot

"The cold doesn't bother me you know that" Haellen said simply "I'd rather be cold than warm. Lest i wake up drenching my sheets when the warmth of morning comes in" She laughed softly. Completely ignoring his attempt at romance, internally screaming as her heart fluttered at the thoughts of sharing a bed with him

Nero of course. Mentally sighed, unsure if that was her turning him down. Or being her usual self and not noticing it "Well. I suppose drenched sheets aren't very comfortable to wake up to" He said with a slightly defeated tone, trying to hide it with a smirk as he placed his hand on the wall "Well. That's all i wished to talk about. Full glad am i to clear the air"

He smirked "Well. I suppose we have appearences to keep up tomorrow yes?. It would be best if we pretended this conversation never happened. To save any pain pretending to not be friends might cause" Yes... That's why he wanted to forget this happened

"By the fury i had completely forgotten" Haellen smacked her forehead gently "Yes you're supposed to be arriving tomorrow to broach your findings to the scions and hopefully rope them into something aren't you?"

Nero shook his head "You forgot when that was our last letter? it was very recent" He pouted playfully "I'm wounded by you haellen"

Haellen punched him in the most gentle way in his sternum "Shut up" She laughed softly "I suggest we turn in for the night if this conversation is over. We've an early start don't we?"

"That we do" Nero nodded "You arrived here first. You should leave first, it looks awfully sketchy otherwise"

Haellen nodded "Well. Goodnight mister scaeva, i look forward to your proposal tomorrow" With that, haellen left. A rather hasty pace in her step

Nero was left there. His smile fading as she finally rounded the corner out of his sight, sighing slightly "Mayhap its best to let those feelings go scaeva. Before you get yourself hurt hm?" He mumbled to himself

Haellen returned to her private room in mor dhona and began to hyperventilate a little "Was that a confession? did he... Why is it-" She clutched her heart. It hadn't stopped racing since he mentioned her thinking about him when she felt lonely... Why did that spark such an intense emotion?

And better yet... Why was it that the more she thought about that. The more she liked the idea of it?

🗣️Eddie Munson Fic Recs

This is gonna have a sappy start before I get into the fic rec portion: but I just wanted to say that at the end of May 2022, I was finishing up my first year of law school. It was rough, challenging, lonely, and basically everything you’d expect and I was in a bad place and the fandom I’d been in was slowing down just naturally. I truly wish I could remember how I even became aware of Eddie Munson because stranger things wasn’t really on my radar anymore and whoever I followed at the time that started to veer off into Eddie-mania, thank you. In the two years since then, I’ve graduated and become the worlds babiest lawyer and I genuinely owe a lot to this fandom and community on here for giving me a fun, usually safe, creative place to escape to when it got rough.

I’m just hoping to maybe remind people that there are already an incredible, incredible amount of existing stories to read and talk about that deserve your attention and love if you’re looking to read some Eddie stories. Some of these will be fics I’ve recommended before but I’m going to try my best to pull together writers and fics that I love and think everyone should read in the hopes that someone like me who still scrolls through eddie tags looking for my nightly bedtime story can find something new to them to read! ✨

It’s a really lovely story of unplanned pregnancy and two characters not realizing they’ve been smitten for each other the whole time and I love it

@carolmunson I’m sharing another Eddie Masterlist here because I’d be making this post far too long but Carol’s stories are all incredible, complex, and honest. “Let’s go, don’t wait” just got updated and I had to read it like 3 times last night because it was too good to just read one and done

@rebelfell I just discovered Sarah’s blog after reading the most recent “Frenemy” fic and idk what I was doing wrong to not already follow her and not have already read her whole Masterlist but I’m linking the whole thing bc she’s so good!!
