I really liked the Ahsoka show but it also felt kinda weird to me idk what did you think of it?

I have the same feeling as you, anon. Overall I liked the show, but I didn’t love it. There was a lot going on mythically/symbolically, but it didn’t all land narratively for me. 

First of all, there was a big Lack of Backstory™ problem going on through the whole thing. 

There was a lot of telling and not nearly enough showing. Ahsoka and Sabine are supposed to be the emotional heart of the story, but we don’t know anything about their history besides vague references. 

We see in the first couple of episodes how much Sabine loves Ezra, but the general audience doesn’t have a clue who he is and once she finds him, it’s just business as usual. Their hug was great but for those who don’t know their backstory (and even people who do), it doesn’t really hit emotionally because there wasn’t enough time spent on showing their relationship in live action and them getting to know each other again after a decade apart. 

We didn’t learn anything about why Morgan is so desperate to bring Thrawn back despite the fact that the Empire eradicated her people. We didn’t learn anything about how they knew each other before he was yeeted to another galaxy. 

We don’t know much about Baylan and Shin’s relationship either. They’re cool and mysterious, and that’s about it. He tells her he trained her to be something more and then decides to leave her on her own in the very next episode to take her place in the new Empire. Why wouldn’t he take her with him if he wanted her to be something more?

I understand that this is part of a larger story, but every season of any show should have solid character arcs that tie into their series character arcs. I just personally didn’t feel like the character arcs were developed enough this season, largely due to Filoni not delving into anybody’s motivations beyond surface level. 

I think having flashbacks between Ahsoka/Sabine and Ezra/Sabine would’ve helped a ton. It also would’ve been a good idea to have a Rebels recap at the beginning of the first episode for those that didn’t watch the show. Kenobi had a Prequel recap that was gorgeously edited and summed everything up before diving in.

As far as the cast:

EMAN ESFANDI IS THE LOVE MY LIFE!!! I adored every single scene he was in, every single mannerism and facial expression he made, his smile gives me butterflies, and his curls are to die for.

Natasha as Sabine was really good, but her character needs work. She didn’t translate nearly as well as Ezra did into live action imo, which is not Natasha’s fault at all. It was 100% a writing problem for me. The first two episodes nailed her character, but as the series progressed she started to flatten out.

Rosario feels really stiff to me. I don’t know if it’s her or the writing or both. I’m not familiar with much of her work, so I can’t really say. She just seemed really apathetic about everything despite her dialogue saying otherwise. I really love Ahsoka, so I hope her live action portrayal gets better, whatever the issue is! 

Hera was given crumbs, but MEW absolutely crushed it! I’ve seen a lot of people complain about her portrayal, but I thought it was amazing. I need to see more of her immediately!!

Lars is spectacular as Thrawn, but the writing didn’t quite make him as intimidating as he was in Rebels. I want to see Lars get to chew the scenery in the future!

Other thoughts:

I feel like the Baylan/Shin dynamic is kind of what Maul and Ezra would’ve had if Maul found Ezra before Kanan did. I really hope they expand on that, especially since it was mentioned twice that Ezra is like Shin. It’s super interesting!

I want to know why Thrawn is so pro-Empire without any mention of the Ascendancy. I hope they don’t turn Thrawn into a generic mustache-twirling villain. He isn’t AT ALL, and that’s the main reason he’s a fan favorite in the first place. 

I need Ezra to be in every Star Wars project going forward! I can’t wait to see him interact with all the other characters in the Mando Era!!

Anakin was awesome, but I needed him to have a deeper conversation with Ahsoka considering the last time they each other, he tried to kill her. 

I need Leia and Ahsoka to interact, or at least a reference that they know each other! Ahsoka telling Luke and Leia about their parents (especially their mother) is really important to me! 

Jacen is the cutest! Ezra and Jacen are going to be the most cinnamon roll master and apprentice duo of all time!!

Your tattoos are amaaaaaazing, which one was your first? so my first one is one that is very rarely seen for a couple reasons. it’s on the back of my shoulder so it’s just not in a place i photograph a lot and the other reason is that it’s shoddy work and also hp themed. i probably won’t get it covered because it’s more about my friendship with my longest friend who has a matching one, but not something i want to show off.

i pride myself on sitting like a fucking rock during tattoos 😅 like i get it’s dumb and macho to say but i will never complain or squirm during a tattoo. also lowkey i enjoy the pain of tattoos EXCPET IN TWO PLACES: my ribs and back of calf. both are pretty excruciating and ribs/sternum specifically make me feel nauseous af. also the line thickness makes a fucking world of difference. the thicker and darker the lines the more painful it is. my forearm sword tattoo was my piece that took the longest but it was a breeze both because of placement and that it doesn’t have bold thick lines.

in my experience easiest placements have been thighs and arms, although inner wrist is a bitch

Something that really sets Wille and Simon apart from other queer ships is that when we say their love language is physical touch, IT REALLY IS PHYSICAL TOUCH. And I’m not speaking of just sex. Over the course of the show, the amount of touching between them is astronomical. And that’s really something rarely seen in queer media. john's so shy at first, so scared of intruding because he's anxious gale feels obligated to take him in out of guilt and out of worry about where john will stay if he doesn't, because they're really not in enough of a serious relationship to warrant moving in together at that point.

he's probably also got a lot of insecurities regarding stability and consistency in men from being raised by an angry, unpredictable father, and hasn't ever experienced home feeling like a safe place, as well as not having a lot of relationship experience in general, so it's a slow adjustment, and he always feels like he's waiting for the other shoe to drop, or for gale to get tired of him.

but slowly he starts to believe gale when he continuously and patiently assures him he wants him there, that he doesn't want him to go worrying about renting somewhere, he wants him to focus on college, he likes having him around, etc etc. gale is so sweet and patient with him, he knows he's just had his life uprooted and he knows he struggles with feeling wanted and feeling secure. he wants him to feel safe and comfortable and to be able to do well school, so he does everything he can to make sure it's a good environment, subtly establishing little routines that involve both of them so john can ease himself into some sort of stability.

once the reassurance and consistency really sink in with john, he gets to properly start enjoying the domesticity and comfort of living with gale, and then he is glued to gale's side, and he's so fascinated with how gale lives and what he gets up to when they aren't together. if gale's in the kitchen cooking, john is either right next to him 'helping', or he's sat at the table studying. if gale's on the couch watching tv, john is draped over his lap or curled up at his side. if gale's in the driveway working on his bike, john's laid out on the lawn with a book (though not much reading gets done because he can't stop staring and borderline drooling as he watches gale sweat in the sun.)

when gale's at work (thinking maybe his day job is something mechanic–adjacent? will sort all that stuff out eventually) and john's lecture ends before he gets home, john either ends up studying in gale's spot on the couch in one of gale's hoodies, or he raids the kitchen and attempts to cook them both dinner, giggling when gale gets home and finds him in the kitchen and wraps his arms around his waist from behind and calls him "my little housewife, hm?"

it's definitely an adjustment for gale too, not coming home from work to an empty house, not running on his own schedule, used to being a lone wolf, but he finds he really does like coming home to john. his quiet house feels alive, lived in for the first time, little pieces of john scattered around once john gets over the initial fear his home life has instilled in him of ever leaving the slightest bit of evidence that he even lives there.

of course there are points of contention occasionally, little bouts of bickering and angst, but they're almost always caused either by john pushing a bit too much when his brain urges him to self sabotage and 'prove' to himself that gale will snap at him/abandon him one day, or by gale not realizing he's being distant when he's stressed, or has said something in a thoughtless/blunt way. it's stuff they both work on together, and sometimes bad habits rear their heads, but it's nothing that communication can't fix.

and there are always... alternative methods of stress reduction they can turn to. gale's watching tv one evening and he can see john getting progressively more frustrated with whatever he's trying to study at the table, the telltale rapid bounce of his leg, chewing his lips to hell, cheek slumped into his hand. so he says john's name to get his attention, waits for him to look up and tells him "come sit, baby. take a break." and as if john can say no to that.

john crawls into his lap to straddle his thighs with a smile and a "this seat taken?" and gale watches him with amusement, can't help but laugh quietly at the way he makes himself right at home before gale can even respond, teases, "you think you're my lap dog, now?"

john hums like he has to contemplate it, hands resting on gale's shoulders, head tilted a little. says, "maybe. you gonna give me a bone?" with the cheekiest lopsided grin and a lazy roll of his hips, all proud of himself for his quip.

I won't spend a dime on the game till at least a year has passed, but the game's playable. #FixTF2 did what it needed to. It feels super weird to say, but the game is essentially fixed. There's the obvious fact that he's the "old" mentor to group of young protagonists, but what else do you think would count?

OHH BOY ok so I'd think I'm a crackpot for this but since we're talking about Zack "Foreshadowing" Morrison. I have some thoughts

No harm in leading with the (chronologically) first thing that jumped out at me:

This one IMMEDIATELY made me antsy whenever I came back to it after my initial read, and considering Zack has referred to it on twitter in the past as one of their favorite jokes it's definitely not been forgotten about.

Second, the sheer amounts of near-misses, jokey or not, of Spender narrowly avoiding specifically lightning

Again, not much, but it's weird that it happened thrice, latter two of which had real gravitas rather than an one-off joke.

And third, Spender himself. He's repeatedly shown himself to be kind of a self sacrificing idiot, as well as prideful to a fault. Granted, it's both him and Mina trying to take on all the responsibility of saving Mayview and its inhabitants from their fate.. But Spender is exactly that right measure of doesn't-value-himself-enough (chest footprint aftercare or lack thereof), having an obscene amount of power (enables his loner act + pride) and poor judgement that has the capacity to put him at great risk. And it has!

Spender has not only shown low enough self-esteem to view himself as the de-facto scapegoat for the safety of the town, but also prideful enough to make very bad calls that end up in people, often himself, hurt (COUGH FORGE INCIDENT COUGH)

This is all conjecture, but it's definitely enough to make me worried about him :') Even if all this doesn't mean he'll necessarily die he's definitely getting (even more) seriously injured at some point. I love the guy but he's so far doing a horrible job of convincing me he wants to live bad enough to circumvent at least that
