i've seen some people bringing up the parallel of how tim told lucy that they were worth the risk to how tim broke up with her... this is a great parallel don't get me wrong and it is so painful and i feel so sad for lucy

HOWEVER i've also seen people absolutely railing on tim and calling him a coward for leaving her and saying that this is unforgivable. i get being upset with him, i'm not saying that's wrong. but i just want to offer my take:

tim is absolutely broken down. this is the lowest point he's ever reached and it's been building and building since before we even met him. everything that happened in his childhood, in the army, with isabel, the trauma we've seen from the job these last 5-6 seasons. and now this, which has brought everything he's never dealt with to the surface. he truly believes in his bones that lying to lucy was what he had to do to protect her. even when lucy (rightfully) told him to stop, he said he can't because it's who he is. it's all he has right now because if he's going to lie and break the rules and compromise him morals, he is damn sure going to do whatever it takes to protect the people he loves.

he grew up with an abusive father who made him believe that he doesn't deserve to be loved, let alone unconditionally. he had no control in his childhood so he got that control by joining the military, and when he finally had that control?? he screwed up and blames himself for getting his teammates killed. he tried to gain back that control by becoming a police officer/to but never felt like he needed to move up any higher than that and now we know why. he didn't want to be a leader again because he didn't think he deserved it. he was terrified of losing lucy with the UC work and didn't even realize it, because when she's gone, he doesn't know what's going on and can't back her up. he has no control.

and now this? he compromised everything he believes in, as he said, "to save his career" but it's not that simple. if he told the truth, that angela and lucy knew about everything and still helped him, they would still lose everything he tried to protect them from. he can't even look at himself in the mirror right now.

he's not a coward for breaking up with lucy. he's not walking away because they had a fight and he doesn't want to work through it. in fact, she validated everything he did!! she showed him that she still loves him no matter what he did, that she would've done the same thing. but to him, that's even worse because he doesn't believe he deserves unconditional love, so when lucy gives it, he thinks that he's dragging her down because how could anyone love him after this. giving their relationship a shot was worth the risk because she is worth the risk. but him? he's not worth it

it's not cowardly to take yourself out of a relationship that you're not mentally okay to be in.

Hot take but personally I think making huge, detailed introject lists showing off your stats like you're pokemon cards is not a great idea and is Actively Dangerous at worst. sorry

Whatever you do don’t imagine years in the future, after they’ve worked through their traumas, and both have healed together, Kaz and Inej lying by each other, and definitely don’t think about Kaz waking up in the mornings and the first thing he sees is Inej and he smiles, because she’s there with him, and they’re safe and happy. There’s no gloves, no extra layers, no knives, or tightly coiled hair. The armor has been removed. It’s just them. Some days are still hard, but it’s okay, because they have each other to bring the other back when one of them is drowning.. vanishing.. the other lifts them up, reminds them who they are. Don’t imagine Kaz mumbling her name, in the softest voice, because he’s still half asleep, so it comes out just as ‘…Nej’ and don’t imagine Inej stirring at the familiar sound of his voice, meeting his eyes, and smiling so brightly that Kaz’s breath catches, just like it does each and every time. Don’t imagine him making her laugh as they lie there, and he hears the sound of it and marvels that there’s once again magic in his life, because he’s with her and she’s with him, and all is right in their world. Don’t you dare.

I hope the people going “durrrr lol billionaires are dead” and sharing bad taste memes are proud of themselves. You do realize that among the lost were renowned Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet (a French Navy veteran who led the first human expedition to the wreck in 1987, two years after its initial discovery by Dr. Ballard and his team, and who had visited the wreck site more than 35 times, helping to recover over 6,000 artefacts) and a 19-year old student on a Father’s Day trip with his dad?

These people were explorers, experts, amateur enthusiasts, and wealthy patrons whose money and interest fuel the progress of risky human endeavors like space travel and deep-sea exploration and make continuing technological advances possible in the first place (because we all know the government can’t be bothered to do it unless there’s a Cold War on - the Titanic’s wreck was only discovered in the first place as part of a cover operation to find nuclear submarines).

Yes, it is entirely appropriate to criticize the company for ignoring safety standards and cutting corners, and by all means be pissed with the CEO, whose hubris and cavalier attitude towards a very high-risk and serious activity ultimately cost all five men their lives at the bottom of the ocean.

But if you think it’s hilarious that people who genuinely loved Titanic and were really excited about seeing the ship died in the course of their adventure - that the Titanic community has lost one of its great experts, and that the youngest passenger never made it to his 20th birthday - then you’re a complete asshole and you shouldn’t interact with my blog in any way.

Please go and take some time to contemplate your life, and why your envy and hatred of the rich has led you to think that a scared teenager literally imploding two miles below the ocean’s surface in the icy, ink-black, crushing depths, is fucking funny and should happen to other people.

People who don't know dog body language who have pushy sketchy dogs are so awful to be around. I told our housemates that their dog Klaus doesn't like me when we went out to watch the eclipse earlier today because I didn't want to go in the fenced yard with him out and they were like "oh no he's fine don't worry." When he saw me he charged up to the fence, high flagged tail, snorting and barking and jumping at the fence and they still were like "oh he's friendly, he just wants to smell you, see his tail is wagging". Like my dude... tail wagging does not mean friendly, and what about the noises he's making rn sounds friendly to you?

Selene's sister grabbed him and I thought she was going to take him inside because she acted like she was going to, but instead she stopped halfway and just held him back while I came into the yard and then let him go to run up and sniff me, which he had very stiff body language the entire time he did so. For a while after that he ignored me because of the kids calling him away and was chill, but still kept coming over and sniffing me occasionally and was very tense each time so I just tried to stay calm and sweet talk him and didn't try to touch him to help defuse the situation.

Then I walked a little away from the group to point out a plant in the yard to Selene's mom which was a mistake because once I was out of the little circle we were standing in he started body blocking me, tense face, stiff body, whale eyeing, and then jumping at me and barking. They tried to call him away and were like "oh he's just trying to get you to play, sorry he's so demanding of attention." I started trying to walk toward the gate to leave because he very much was NOT trying to get me to play and I did not feel confident in their ability to control him, and he immediately did it again. And again they tried to call him away. And I got maybe another two steps before he turned right back around and did it again. And they called him away again saying he was just trying to play. Rinse and repeat for a total of like six times of him body blocking me, tense and whale eyeing, and then jumping at me and barking. All while they're just laughing like "Sorry, Klaus just really loves playing". Dudes your dog is actually behaving aggressively toward me right now, please get control over him so I can leave he is NOT TRYING TO PLAY WITH ME.

This is the second time I've been invited into the yard while Klaus was out and the first time they kept telling me the same thing but he was actually following me around growling at me then and they were still like "oh it's just cuz he doesn't know you yet, he'll warm up to you, he's friendly". YOUR DOG IS SKETCHY. I DONT WANT TO INTERACT WITH HIM. HE DOESN'T LIKE ME. PLEASE JUST PUT HIM INSIDE WHEN I'M IN THE YARD WITH Y'ALL. And PLEASE learn some dog body language because nothing about his right now says "friendly" at all!!!!! Not even a little!!!! TAIL WAGGING DOES NOT MEAN FRIENDLY, ESPECIALLY A HIGH FLAGGED TAIL.
