Van D is such a good teacher it, quite honestly, makes me kind of emotional at times. It feels unnecessary to point out, but LISTEN!!

He teaches at a public school that certainly appears to be on the low end of funds (this generally applies for a majority of public high schools in the United States since there has been a legitimate crisis with education that certainly stems all the way back to the 90s and even before).

Despite these odds he is still passionate about his work and all of his students. He's always taking them out for field trips which is nuts! Maybe this is just my experience, but aside from one or two special trips, I don't recall going on many trips during high school as he somehow gets away with. And my school would probably be considered on the "better" end of the spectrum compared to the majority in the country. Let alone Highland High.

Even with really "troubled" students like Beavis and Butt-Head he is always patient with them and has never taken out his frustration on them. He continues to be their strongest defender even when everyone else in the school couldn't give an ounce of crap about them. Of course, yeah. This facet is played up for laughs. There is a degree of optimistic ignorance on his part. The inherent nihilism of the show can't be ignored. BUT I think his determination and passion is very heartwarming. Even if it results in him getting, idk, thrown off an entire bus and down a cliff lmao.

Truuuuue! I also realized right as Fox pointed out that was he most likely referring to them not holding onto their idyllic sunset moment if and when we get season three. Meaning, they'll still have challenges and hurdles to leap over and what have you, which WOULD indeed be on par.

Because yes, they're now on the same page, but still have so much personal growth to do, as well as growth together as a couple. And then the world beneath their feet is still indeed shaky. Ricky's still at large (Ricky when I CATCH YOU, RICKY. WHEN I CATCH YOU, RICKY), Zheng still wants revenge, the entirety of the Republic of Pirates is displaced, The Revenge itself could sail into issues, etc etc.

Soooo yeah. I let out a SHRIEK only to immediately be like "oh lol." And even still, you're right; David is the Captain on this ship anyway.
