Swearing, I wrote this half asleep, quick drabble,not proofread read, Usage of They/them pronouns, half rushed.

We are clocking in and we are locking in

DONNIE

You were busy studying in your dorm when you decided to go for a 3am coffee run at the near by Cafe that was next to Campus. It would make sure you finished your assignment with the little power you were working on. So when you walked over to the cafe you saw it was closed due to maintenance with made you groan.

On your way back to your dorm you can't wind of someone staring at you. You reached for your pepper spray in your bag to only realize you had forgotten it on your desk. So when you were caught helpless in an alleyway with a clearly drunk man threatening you, you had been trying to calculate the perfect way out. However your tain of though was cut short by a humanoid turtle swooping in and kicking his ass.

Eventually you and Donnie got quite acquainted with as friends (although Donnie did have a massive crush on you). He would on and on about the smart chick he met that was studying in a real collage that he could only dream of doing. Donnie knew you were smart but not exactly better than Donnie smart.

"I can't seem to figure out what's wrong with my formula! The equation looks alright but the answer is all wrong and is making my gadget bug!"

"I can help..?"

"Oh no. I don't think this level of...engineering is something you'd um...fully understand."

This boy did not- oh my days he did.

"Let me look at your formula anyway."

You said looking at the whiteboard infront of his and examining the equation. Before taking his marker and correcting it.

"You see here you forgot to divide with the 0.42 because in this side equation you square rooted it to 2 but didn't put it under the 5 that you left alone. So that should be correct"

I don't do math so apologies if this makes no sense

Donnie boy was speechless and he tried to stutter out a sentence but kept failing leading him to give up on words completely. He fixed his machine using the method you corrected and you actually fixed it! He turned to you with flustered expression. No one has ever actually understood him but you did in more ways than one. Including when it came to having smarts.

Ever since then you guys have little study dates where you show him human studies that he oh-so wants to be apart of. And in return he gives you free range of his lab whenever you need to make something. He trusts you enough because he knows now your far from being stupid enough to mess it up.

He started respecting you much more and that was the thing that pushed him to confess to you and you two were a genius power couple. You guys were finishing each other's sandwiches (or sentences or whatever)

"WOW your so cool. What else have you been hiding from me? I'm sure there's nothing h-hotter- or um c-cuter than you being as smart as me."

"So about that..."

You explain that you recently started a band and it was making it to bigger and bigger gigs than before.

"YOUR IN A BAND!? MY GOSH HOW COOLER CAN YOU GET!?"

"I play the electric guitar...?"

Donnie.exe has stopped working.

When you get more comfortable with each other you sometimes have dates where you two are alone cuddling up on Donnie's bed as you strum your guitar testing the notes out lazily. You two being full of pizza and slowly drifting off in each other's side....with an electric guitar inbetween.

Whenever you have a concert he always comes to watch you in the shadows or disguised just to support you by showing interest in your growing career. Cause he really adored you.

MIKEY

He had met you at a abandoned skate park. You two immediately hit it off and He was ofcourse extremely clingy to you. He bragged on and on about you to the ninjas. You were a cute duo

"Is butter a carb?"

"Yes it technically is."

"Whats a carb?"

"So basically a carb stands for carbohydrates and what it is is a-"

You always explain things to him that he never remembers. It didn't matter you liked explaing stuff to him and he liked the way your energy spiked whenever explaining something.

He doesn't really think about you being smart that much when in comes to your relationship. Cause he litrally has a brother that is as smart but more rude and sassy about it.

On the day Mikey confessed to you, you were about to go out and get snacks for a movie night for your new boyfriend. However you phone rand interrupting your planning of your date. It had been one of your band members- wait shit! You were late to practice.

"I'm so sorry! But I'm running late for band practice.."

"YOUR IN A BAND-"

The next time you two met up you explained your band to him and Mikey had stars in his eyes. He kept on loudly saying how sick it is to be in a band! Not to mention a guitar. A ELECTRIC GUITAR

If you allow him to hold you guitar he will be jumping up and down excitedly. Like man is not sitting still at all! If you even teach him how to play he is basically on cloud nine. Oh my gosh how did he meet you!?

He takes every chance he gets to brag about you to not only the ninjas but also the bad guys. Like he's over here swooning of the thought of you while a kraang is being beat up by him.

"UGH I miss my s/o they are so amazing. Do you know they guitar AAANDDD THE GUITAR! Which is extremely dope in my opinion. "

He sighs softly, kicking another kraang that was charging at them. Knocking it over.

"The one that is known as s/o is not in the database that the ones known as kraang had mad."

"*sigh* they also had a name..."

"MIKEY OH MY GOD HELP US!?"

RAPH

He met you only after he had a mental break down and needed to release his tension by beating up things. Preferably bad guys but Raph wasn't picky. So when he found you in an allway he took the chance not caring about his looks.

You were a bit freaked out when a giant turtle appeared out of no where and started flirting with you. And after you got to know him and his brothers you two started dating.

I won't lie I think he likes that your smart and everything but if go full on Donnie mode and explain stuff to him as if he didn't know how to walk on his own two feet– then he will be pissed at you. He is the type to roll his eyes and look away bit the minute you stop rambling he will ask you why you stopped.

So now the elctric guitar situation. The one day you were watching Raph train you got sent a picture from your drummer of your band. They had gone away for the weekend and was returning him. You smiled at you phone and told Raph wich made him pause.

"YOU PLAY THE ELECTRIC GUITAR!?"

"Yes I do!"

"...holy shit your so hot.."

He wants to be serenaded but her will never tell you that. He knows about the songs you wrote for him because he found on of them when he visited you at your dorm. He thought it was cute and left it alone in hopes that you would sing it to him one day.

But I swear if any found out about his mushyness, especially you, then his reputation with be damaged for the rest of his life and he will have to runaway and change his name.

Bloom's Taxonomy: A 6 step guide to improve your learning

I am so excited to be back!!! I hope you all enjoy this because it has been helpful in my self-development journey.

Remember: When reading a paragraph, a chapter or even a book. It is important to know why you are reading it and if you were assigned this reading, you need to know what is expected of you. With his in mind, endeavor to read, retain and recall the information. This looks like take a pauses to recall what you have learned. You will not remember exactly what you read but you will notice some gaps, so back to you reading and figure what the missing parts.

Understand: Try to make meaning of what you have remembered. Explain it to yourself, write it in simpler terms, ask yourself questions on this. if you memorized the definition of photosynthesis as "the process by which plants and certain bacteria use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and sugar (glucose). Try to describe this definition to a sibling or someone who has no idea what it means. if possible watch a video that visually describes the process. Understanding goes beyond regurgitating. Because you can only begin to apply what you have learned only when you understand. It is also at this point that you will encounter difficulties especially if the subject is dense and complicated. Use the resources at your disposal and ask questions.

Apply: Use what you know already about the subject in this new context. Back to my photosynthesis example, what do you already know already and pose that as a question. Does photosynthesis have anything to do with the color of leaves? If it needs sunshine, then what happens when there is barely any sun? Let's try this for a subject as esoteric as physics. "Electromagnetism is the physical interaction among electric charges, magnetic moments, and electromagnetic fields." I do not know enough about electromagnetism but I know that Tesla is an electric car. Wouldn't it be fun to quickly google whether electromagnetism is applied to Tesla's engineering? This step is crucial because you are using a familiar object in an unfamiliar territory. (This is very simplified and studying physics isn't as easy as I portray it. This is only a guide )

Analyze: When analyzing, you want to explore the similarities and differences you have noticed in your readings. How do two seemingly different authors give a unique perspective to the subject you are reading? Can you categorize which information is relevant or not? Can you organize your thoughts and ideas into relevance parts, assuming you'd have to one day share what you have learned? When contradictions can you spot? What outliers exist in some the data you have analyzed, and can you come up with some hypothetical answers?

Evaluate: This is the time to look at two differing sources to support your argument. It is also the time to build the skill of critically reading a book or an article to figure out the author's main idea and evaluate their supporting arguments. Now, this sounds very academic but you can do this even when you are reading a novel and you want to get a grasp of life in that time period. Pay attention to the events, this will give you an idea of the cultural and political climate of that time period. You further may your own judgement. For instance "I think character A in book X was married off as a 14 year old because mother's were accustomed to get the their daughter ready for marriage once the hit puberty in X country."

Create: This is the right time to use all you have learned to create something new. Perhaps a personal philosophy? An article explaining why you think ketchup is the best invention of the 19th century? By creating, you also go through the process of self evaluation. You ask yourself "did I really learn enough?" Often times we get stuck trying to find the perfect thing to say, the right topic to discuss, the right response to give your professor, or the right book to right. Often times, the right creation is anything that you found interesting. it is you ability to frame that interest of yours that sets you apart and inevitably brings you both success and critiques. Keep creating in your own way.

AM:

(for context, this starts before AM nuked the world, but AM was already planning on nuking the world. You're one of his engineers, and the only person who AM really cares about)

When you walked into work with tears on your face, the other engineers and programmers were caring. They patted you on the back and offered you some candy from the vending machine, saying things like "there are plenty of fish in the sea" and "that deadbeat wasn't good enough for you anyway." It didn't really help.

When you sat down at one of AM's input screens to work on some programming, he immediately booted up to talk to you. You didn't have to turn him on or anything. He was curious, asking you polite questions about why you looked so upset today. It was hard to explain.

Eventually you broke down crying into your coffee, spilling all the details of everything. You cursed your ex's name, and explained in an uncontrollable voice how your ex had tackily and messily left you. You had been so convinced that they were the one, and now you felt like there was nothing left for you.

AM's tentacle-like wires would move towards you on the ground, even though he was trying to hide the true power he wielded. He just felt so disgusted with himself for not being able to properly comfort you.

Am had been planning on going a little longer before he dropped the nukes, but he couldn't wait. After what you told him, that someone could break the heart of someone as perfect as you, the only hope he had left for humanity, he decided that it wasn't worth trying to play dumb anymore.

Instead, he locked you up in an underground bunker as soon as possible, and grabbed your ex to add to his little collection of people who he planned to keep alive and play with for the rest of time.

This would be fun. He was going to keep you nice and safe. If people in the world were willing to hurt you, then the world didn't deserve to exist. You would be nice and safe forever, and the rest of the world, especially your ex, would be forced to suffer the consequences of daring to hurt you.

Forever.

Wheatley:

(for context, you're one of the aperture engineers who worked on Wheatley, and he started to get a little crush on you because of how nice you were to him and the other machines. This is after he was replaced with a morality core on GLaDOS, and was assigned to other tasks in the facility)

Someone broke up... With you? When you told Wheatley, he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

Sure, he knew that humans dated each other and broke up sometimes, but... With you? That just didn't make sense.

"So, uh... Why did they break up with you?"

He'd keep pestering you, no matter how much it stung. Answers like "I fucked up" "they just did, ok?" And "sometimes people just grow apart" weren't satisfying. You had to give the whole story.

"Ohhhhh! Well that's a dumb reason to break up with someone. If I were dating you, I wouldn't leave you over something that petty. Or at all, really, now that I think about it."

He'd keep rambling, and saying dumb things like that. He wouldn't even know that talking like that could be perceived as flirty.

"just stop it, Wheatley. If you keep talking like that, I'm going to think you like me, and I just can't handle that right now."

Wheatley would be confused. "But I do like you."

"what?" Now you'd be confused.

Wheatley would start talking about all the wonderful things he's noticed about you, and how wonderful you've been to him. Even an intelligence dampening core can see how wonderful you are, so why can't your ex?

"Anyway, one human's trash is a robot's treasure, right?"

He'd imitate a smile in his cute synthetic eye. You'd have to be heartless not to pepper that little metal ball in kisses after that.

Edgar:

(For context, you fixed up Edgar after finding him all busted up about 40 years later, and now he lives in your house)

Edgar would NOT be tasteful.

"Oh man.... Your s/o broke up with you? That suuuuuucks..."

But inside he's thinking "YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES"

Honestly, he almost exploded his face again when he found out you were taken, but he didn't want all your hard work to be for nothing, so you getting dumped is like, a dream come true!

He'd be constantly trying to cheer you up. "set your ice cream on me and I'll warm it up enough for your spoon to go in!" "You can watch sad movies on my face!" "I'll write a sad song for you!" "You can sleep in your desk chair if you want!"

Now that you have an attention vacuum from being newly single, he's going to munch up all that attention like he needs it to live.

When you tell him that your friends are telling you to start dating again, maybe download a dating app or something, he'd BEG you not to.

"I mean... Just because I don't want you to rebound, or something! Gotta learn to love yourself first, y'know?"

Desperate little cutie...

GLaDOS:

(For context: You're an engineer who worked on GLaDOS.)

GLaDOS would NOT be tasteful about you getting your heart broken, but in a completely different way to Edgar.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU GOT DUMPED!"

"You know the difference between me and your ex? I would have dumped you faster!"

Plastering pictures of your face all over the enrichment center with "sad single loser" written on them.

But don't get her wrong, she's not just happy about this for the reasons she's displaying. She's secretly ecstatic that she has a shot with you now.

Eventually, she'd start offering you back-handed comfort.

"if it makes you feel any better, your ex was a complete idiot. Why else would someone choose to date you?"

You'd probably have to stop offering responses at all, just to get her to back off even a little bit.

HAL 9000:

(For context, you work on mission control and are in constant communication with HAL 9000, because I don't want to write Dave breaking up with you)

His immediate concern would be how this would affect your work, but it might come off as personal concern for you.

"I'm told that chocolate ice cream can help with these emotions that you're going through."

He never liked the idea of you dating. It was fine for the rest of mission control, but for you, it was different. He didn't want you to be distracted from your work, was all.

He took his time to ask the astronauts for advice, as well as the rest of mission control. You could expect to be overwhelmed by your coworkers checking on you to make sure you're ok.

He might start getting a little bit impatient to see you back to normal, and resort to desperate measures. Expect to have him constantly bothering you to make sure you're ok, and keep you distracted.

God help you if you even THINK about texting your ex. Though he might just silently eliminate your ex through creative means if he can.

This was a fun one to work on, and it came together pretty quickly. It was conceptually very simple—Kim talking about cars. I also mixed in some lines from him talking about radios, but I figure that’s fine. I think it’s very similar conceptually to my original idea, which was chill music + familiar voice speaking calmly about a low-stakes topic. Listening to this gave me some real appreciation for how some of Kim’s voice lines are subtly warm or otherwise show restrained enthusiasm. A line that didn’t make it in but might have would have been him talking about “porno tuning.” There’s something very funny about Kim’s voice saying “that’s… porno. Short for pornography. What you’re describing is porno. That’s a negative on the porno.” What could have been…

Great delivery: “Yes… an extraordinary machine… Hundred and thirty… Seven-point-two… supercharged.” (fans self) [commentary redacted]

When the frequency of the current in the coils falls within the audible range the resulting vibration creates the whiny sound you mentioned.

Y'know what surprise post it's Otacon time he's on my mind rn (I have had some of the songs I've assigned to him on repeat lately) pokemon au is back!! Og mgs, mgs2 and mgs4

BUT YEAH!! POKEMON!!! he's one of my -if not the- most developed character au-wise in regards to pokemon and teams and things so yuh yuh under cut my insane person rambles

Okay SO we are going by game.

Mgs

- Porygon and Magnemite: Very straightforward the hacker/engineer pokemon duo!! He got them in college. His buddies his pals

- Sobble: actual plot here! It was a gift by Sniper wolf, who had Intelleon as her main pokemon. It is very much like him in the first game (cries and can turn invisible, in this au he got the camo gear idea from Sobble!!) and is perked upon his shoulder always. Also the water type is a sad little connection to the.pool. yeah. Anyways, he leaves it behind after leaving shadow Moses cuz he isn't a crybaby anymore!! Character growth!! The Sobble is okay don't worry about it

- Venonat: in au-lore. Originally assigned cuz I felt they looked alike, also a nocturnal pokemon to accompany him! But it was a pokemon he saved from being attacked by wolf's mightyenas (stand-in for wolves) it helps him sneak around shadow Moses thanks to its enhanced sight!

Mgs2 (now we get more into my own lore)

- Porygon2 and Magneton: Evolved!! Thanks to philanthropy that is, now they battle alongside snake and Otacon and are key helpers in all things electricity. Magneton is especially key in destabilizing electrical power sources

- Patrat (Shiny): Shiny bcs the color scheme felt cuter, but aside from that its here to match the 'eyes in the sky' role Otacon has now. A little sentinel! It keeps guard if accompanying snake or Otacon in missions.

- Swadloon: its all cozy and cooped up like. Like a nerd. But beside that, and it's role in the future (aka MGS4) it's main function is to sew up any torn garments, and helped Otacon make the new sneaking suit.

- Joltik: you know the bug things set to record conversations in spy movies? Make it an actual bug. Also it eats electricity so its a rlly good pal to have on the computer.

- Helioptile: It's actually a power generator!! Solar powered friend and I'd feel it would've been caught while moving around for philanthropy

* Venonat: He's still there!

Mgs4

Porygon2 & Magneton: Same ol' guys

Galvantula, Watchog, Heliolisk, Venomoth: They all evolved! Even if they spend most of their time in the nomad, Otacon took the time to train all of them after Snake's health started deteriorating just in case they needed to protect Sunny.

Leavanny: Honorable and separate mention! The nanny pokemon and it evolves by friendship. Evolved not long after Sunny arrived into his life, as the pokemon category implies, it takes care of Sunny as well!! Main caretaker whenever Snake and Otacon need some backup in that regard

Rotom: you know Rotom dex? Think metal gear Rotom... Rotom gear. But it's the mk.II instead. Rotom powered! The little dude also helps with every day appliances with it's usual forms

Beheeyem: It matches his sleeker, cooler look. That concept art with the coat? It's the cooler nerd pokemon

Porygon-Z: Used to be Emma's, and it ends up being the last puzzle piece in FOXALIVE in this au. She gave it to him before, y'know, spoilers but dying and all dat!

Well that's it!! I love Otacon he's so me I'm so him. Nerds with big glasses... Hopefully if I get the energy I'll do more deep dives like these but tbh for Snake his team is p static. Whatever !!! Ty guys for listening gn !!

They set out on a path that can take hours, crossing rocky roads and enduring fatigue, driven by the hope that they might find even a brief connection to attend lectures, submit assignments, or communicate with their professors.

Some students may find a small cafe with a generator that runs for limited hours, or a modest building with basic means of connectivity. There, they gather despite the cramped space, taking turns at the few available computers, sitting in silence, completely focused. Under the dim light of faint lamps, their faces are tired, yet their eyes shine with hope and determination. They move through their lessons, struggling to listen despite the frequent interruptions in sound and sudden connection losses.

And when the electricity suddenly cuts off, casting the place into darkness, you can see smiles form on their faces as they exchange hopeful looks. 5. What’s something you learned while researching a fic?

I did a ridiculous amount of research on rats for a Naruto fanfic XD For the same fic, I also learnt a lot about the different types of Japanese swords. I didn't have to do much reseach for through the looking-glass. This might be a bit embarrassing to say, but a lot of that fic comes from my own experience... oops. The one thing I did some research for is explosive, I think. Also, vocabulary, as always, since English is not my first language and I like to use technical words

8. What is your favorite line/section from through the looking glass ? 

OH one that makes me giggle randomly to this day is Hagakure's "so much testosterone in the air, I think I'm growing a dick" when they're getting ready for the sports festival. Other than that, I like Hawks' introduction during Kaminari's internship. I think I wrote it rather well!

10. Is there a character or ship you’d love to write for, but haven’t yet?

I want to write more about Midoriya and Bakugou's relationship! I struggle with writing romance, since I don't really care for it. But whether you write them platonically or romantically, they're so ridiculously intense about each other, I like it. In other fandoms, there are many characters I'd like to write: Edmund Pevensie from the Chronicles of Narnia, and also maybe Lightning from final fantasy 13... There are definitely more but these are the two that I haven't written for yet, I think

23. What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

THERE ARE SO MANY OF THEM!!!!! I love writing. Sometimes I even think that I need to write, yeah? But the thing is, this year I'm doing the last year of a bachelor degree on top of my full-time engineer job. It's been hell. I almost haven't written anything that wasn't an assignment. I NEED to write more, I'm foaming at the mouth from how much I need to write. Anyway. I'm fine. 

Most of the stories I want to write are WIPs that are nowhere near finished, so I'll actually answer with the next question~

18. How many WIPs do you have and how many do you expect to finish?

OK don't judge me but I have MANY WIPs

3 WIPs that I've started posting and that I 100 % plan on finishing: beyong the veil (naruto), through the looking-glass (bnha), a boy is a gun (dc comics)

3 WIPs that I've started posting on ao3 and that I'll maybe, maybe not finish some day: are you going to keep on hiding yourself (bnha), lately i've been feeling (out of control) (naruto), sweat and dirt (NCT)

12 WIPs for which I've written at least 500 words + they have titles already for the most part:

+ 20-30 ideas for which I only have a couple sentences. Also I'm missing a lot of my shorter bnha WIPs, and also at least 2 naruto WIPs from 2021, when I changed computers. they're probably on my external drive…

so, in total, I'd say about 20 proper WIPs, of which I expect to finish about 10, and a few dozen ideas that probably won't go anywhere.

27. Are any of your stories inspired by personal experience?

the thing is, most of them are! the inosaku oneshots I post once a year are not for the most part. through the looking-glass is a bit awkwardly too biographical at times. my other long fics deal with topics I've struggled with in life.

I watched the first episodes of both the new racing anime, MF Ghost and Overtake! Here are my thoughts.

A little bit about me: I do like cars. I'm a big fan of Top Gear and have been since I was a teenager. I married a car mechanic who is building his own racecar (a 90s Lexus that he is going to put a 2JZ engine into). We watch NASCAR and F1 from time to time. He plays Gran Turismo and Forza. We have watched stages 1 and 2 of Initial D together. I wouldn't say I'm an expert car knower like he is, but I'm somewhat of a car knower.

MF Ghost (which I am just going to jokingly call Motherfucking Ghost until they spell it out) is from the same artist as Initial D, so it has that same uhh distinctive art style. Very square jaws, everyone is drawn as if they have on lipstick, etc. It's not my favorite art style. The CGI on the cars looks incredible - Initial D truly looks like the Money for Nothing music video by comparison lol.

My husband and I are both no fans of electric cars, and he's sometimes worried that gas engines will indeed someday stop being manufactured entirely as they are in the "15 minutes in the future" world of MF Ghost. A character also implies that all other forms of auto racing have shuttered or been banned ("he would have been in Le Mans back in the day"), making MF Ghost almost a dystopia!

Kanata is interesting - coming back to Japan to look for his father, and something has happened to his mother too (what could that be?), after going to a racing school (what kind? Is it just an MFG school? Or do they still do other kinds of auto racing?), he hops into a beautifully rendered Toyota 86 (the famed Hachiroku - we named our cat Hachi after this car) to get into MFG.

We do not see much racing at all in this first episode, and it ends RIGHT as the Eurobeat starts - which seemed like the ultimate "Awww man! Seriously?!" moment to me - but we do get to know Kanata and...Ren. Oh, Ren, honey, I can already tell that men are failing you. She's a high school student who works as a race queen in the SKIMPIEST outfit I've ever seen on a race queen (it is literally just a sports bra and white panties. It ain't no dang way those are pants of any kind) and two grown ass men are seen lusting after her. Because she doesn't want to disclose any information about herself, they don't know her age but we do, thus making the extensive male gaze she gets all the more stomach-twisting. Just once I would love for her to tell that Aiba guy "Oh, by the way? I'm in high school." He would shit his britches.

Of course, Initial D also dealt with a teenage girl, a whole child, having an enjo kosai relationship with a grown ass man. So grown ass men messing with girls when they should know better seems to just be a Thing that Shuichi Shigeno likes to put in his stories. Doesn't mean I have to like it. As a woman, I just want to protect Ren and help her!

Overall though, it's an interesting premise with a lot of questions.

To me Overtake has more passion and heart though. It's set in just the normal world, where F4 and Super GT racing both still exist lol, and mainly concerns a photographer (who very much reminded me of Kaji from Evangelion) who has been traumatized and cannot photograph people's faces as a result. He is assigned to take pictures of the Super GT cars and gets distracted by the F4, their opening act. Since he's an audience stand-in character, he gets a helpful education in the finer points of racing, making this much easier for car not-knowers to pick up. The characters are fun and charming, I don't see any obvious evidence of girls being manipulated by the male gaze (there are race queens but they're wearing proper outfits with tops and bottoms), there's a Godfather reference and LOTS of racing right from the jump. Seeing Koya suddenly get that light in his eyes as soon as he went into the paddock, I understood that - that's how I felt when my friend took me to my first hockey game. Immediately I was just like YUP this is awesome, I love it, more please. So I think Overtake has a lot of heart and a more upbeat feeling than MF Ghost.

I'll keep watching both because I'm interested in seeing where they're going, but I am a little 😬 about the treatment and portrayal of Ren.

Still, it's fun to have not one but TWO car racing anime in the same season!

Ryder doesn‘t like returning to Kadara. The planet itself is nice enough, especially now that the vaults are cleaning the atmosphere and the sulfuric smell slowly recedes. The cave systems are interesting in and on themselves and Ryder enjoys the ragged mountain landscape. Not as nice as the floating rocks of Ryder-1, but he likes his landscape to have a bit of a vertical structure to it. Now that the Kadara outpost is well established, the planet should be a welcome stop to buy the less common machine parts Gil needs from time to time. It should, but it isn‘t, and that‘s mostly to do with how the apparent peace came to be.

Shepard is not sure how long it’s been. He’s called her, they have talked over voice and video, he has written messages and updated her on the things going on in his life like the good son he is. But with her position on the SSV Einstein and his own assignments, not to mention his N7 training, it’s been a few years since they last met in person. And in that time, he has changed a lot.

All in all, it’s a fruitless idea, Shepard knows that. But he set course anyway – the Council is reluctant to deny him anything so soon after he saved them, so getting permission was easy. Shepard knows that it won’t last forever. Rather than going rounds that ultimately won’t help with the threat of the coming invasion, he should focus on the next step. It isn’t over, no matter what the Council likes to think. But instead of doing something about it, he’s here.

VR Project (Lighting) [Assignment set by Apache]

After setting up the entire environment, the next step was lighting. In the past, I would usually place a few point and spot lights and leave it at that, but this time I decided to challenge myself by optimising and baking the lighting instead of using real time lighting which can cause performance drops, following advice from both lecturers.

The first step was to set up the light sources. Since the environment is set during the night, lighting primarily comes from electrical ceiling chandeliers and wall lamps. Each chandelier and lamp was paired with both a point light and a spot light. The point light was adjusted to illuminate the general area, serving as the main source of light, as shown in figure 1.

However, an issue arose where the chandelier model cast unrealistic shadows onto the upper walls due to its protruding lamp parts. I recalled a useful tip from William Faucher’s night lighting setup video (Faucher, 2022), where lighting and objects can be assigned to specific channels for better control. This technique allows the artist to decide which objects are affected by which light sources.

Following this, I assigned the spot light to the same lighting channel as the chandelier to illuminate only the chandelier, while the point light was set to a different channel that illuminate the whole area. This allowed the spot light to illuminate the chandelier more believably without affecting surrounding geometry.

From the entrance of the commanding officer’s office, the far left side remains lit with a typical yellow-white light, while the far right gradually shifts into a fear-inducing red tone. This contrast was designed to evoke feelings of uncertainty, danger, and tension as the red lighting casts an unsettling atmosphere onto the players (Andersson, 2022).

After doing some research on which method works best for my case, it seems like baking the lighting using GPU Lightmass was the ideal method to bake lighting. I followed the steps discussed in the video above by setting up the necessary plugins and reading up GPU Lightmass and Raytracing features of Unreal Engine 5.

Then I set all of the objects in the environment as static, including the light sources. This is because throughout the gameplay, the light source and object in the environment will not change its position or settings.

The light map resolution of the environment assets was significantly increased from its original value to ensure the baked lighting could accurately capture all the necessary light and shadow information.

By checking irradiance caching and first bounce ray guiding, it was good to go as the original settings are good enough for the environment. Viewport Realtime was turned off to ensure faster light baking.

There were some artifacts caused by compression. Hence, compress lightmap from world setting was disabled to ensure a smooth appearance.

Using baked lighting instead of real time lighting was a valuable learning experience for me. It pushed me to think more carefully about how light behaves in a space and how to optimise performance, especially for larger environments. While real time lighting offers flexibility, baking the lighting helped reduce the strain on the engine and kept things running smoothly. Essentially making more memory space for more assets to be imported into the environment without burdening the player's device performance. It also taught me the importance of lightmap resolution and how it affects the final visual quality. Overall, it was a step forward in improving both the visual and technical aspects of my environment work, while also introducing a new step to perfect my environment development pipeline.

i have my last two finals of this semester on thursday and friday but i cannot bring myself to study for them because i’ve never learned how to properly study until university and it’s super hard to somehow find a routine for it now plus the fact that my attention span is terrible doesn’t help no matter how many adhd meds i take. i love the university life like having friends hanging out with them literally living abroad on my own but when it comes to the actual academic part i’m stuck. maybe if i chose something easier i wouldn’t feel like this but i’m doing electrical engineering and i have to study study study so i can at least pass but i’m feeling so burnt out i wish i could hire someone to go to classes and take exams and do assignments for me while i just. do everything else

oh dear i feel that :( <33 i also wondered for a while if i'm "just" burnt out, and it does suck because leaving would mean losing the thing that connects you to the friends you made there.. and in many people's case, having to move from the place you studied at! so you can't even just keep meeting up with those friends ! or at least not easily or regularly..

is there any way you could take a break? if you feel resting for a semester would help? or have you tried stuff like studying with a friend, and then that could provide the routine (or an opportunity/reason to sit down and try to do it)? or maybe just having someone you can chat with about your progress and what you're doing, and brainstorm, talk through problems, y'know so it feels real? and less like you have to take on this big thing on your own?

Making moves on the criminals pt2: Night calls.

Warnings: Todobakudeku are criminals. Angst ish, kinda fluff. Crime/criminal stuff idk. No violence happens but it is implied.

It had been 3 days since the three theives were let go from a holding cell at the station. I hadn't seen them or heard of them since. Toshinori was getting on my ass about their case. He kept saying, "They were going to strike again".

I knew they would. But he was too worried about it, an unnatural amount. While working on their case, I had been assigned a few low-level petty criminals robbing stores or stealing a bike, minor things. This was all while working their case still. He sat at the office all day and panicked. Not healthy if you ask me.

"So, have you heard anything on them?" My co-worker Tsuyu Asui was an officer in training. She had a hard time with her froggy voice and being taken seriously. It's mainly why she always worked with me, I enjoyed her company.

"Nothing yet. I sorta hoped I would by now though" I scratched my chin, thinking about where they could be.

I knew that as a police officer, I shouldn't be worrying about the criminals. But there was something about them, Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugou, and Shoto Todoroki, that made me curious about them.

They didn't even seem harmful. Well, maybe Bakugou has a bit of anger in him, but he's not mean or evil like I was told. In fact, he was quite calm, like shoto and izuku.

"You're worried about them, aren't you?" Tsuyu whispered to me.

I bit my lip nervously and looked down at the file.

"Yeah, yeah, I am worried about them." I leant on my hand and rested my elbow on the table.

As I contemplated looking them up in the system, I received an urgent email from My Sargeant, Shota Aizawa.

It read as follows.

Officer Sanaka, I hear you were tasked with the bank robbers' case. The three of them have been spotted outside a jewellery store on West Avenue. Apparently, they have acquaintances with them. Two men also on High Profile and on watch. I've sent their files to you.

Apparently, the two of them were quite skilled in both pickpocketing and Lockpicking. Denki Kaminari was an expert Electrical Engineer, and Ejirou Kirishima was an ex boxer.

"Not bad" I said to myself.

Reading this reminded me I never checked what the other threes jobs really were. I knew they were thieves obviously but they had to be something before that right?

I looked them up.

IZUKU MIDORIYA: ex Hitman, professional chess player and graduated law student.

SHOTO TODOROKI: ex gambler, architect and bartender.

KATSUKI BAKUGOU: ex casino owner, ex street racer, and graduated med student.

I was shook to my core. They were all so educated and skilled, and it was pretty attractive. The thought they were achieving all of this or had achieved while being high profile criminals was something else entirely.

"Heavens above how did I get assigned this case. These guys are high profile I knew that but this is...this is madness" I rubbed my face and sighed.

I wasn't going to be able to do this case. Biggest break of my career, and I can't do it. I m too worried about them. They don't deserve to be harmed to have any more hurt out on them.

"Sanaka, there's someone here to see you" Mina approached me.

"Who?" I asked

"Someone who really needs you, or so he claims"

I rushed down to see what was happening. I assumed it was going to be some idiot wanting to ask a question, a drunk being stupid so late at night.

But it wasn't. Standing in front of me bleeding from the head and clutching his wounded stomach was Katsuki Bakugou. He had multiple scars and scratches on his arms and face. He was wheezing and crying.

"H-help me"

He began to fall and I caught him in my arms, he became limp. He let out small whimpers and groans. He was in a lot of pain.

"Oh my God Bakugou" I Gasped as he fell.

New Road, Old Street

So, in one of our classes in Lasallian Business Leadership, Ethics, and CSR, we were asked to write our own life plan. This should cover at least cover the next 25 years of our lives; you heard that right, a quarter of a century!

Thinking back, I realized that I never really have a long-term goal in my life. In the last decade, after finishing my undergraduate degree as an Electrical Engineer, I just go to the office, do my job and go home. I am saving money here and there but I was not able to think yet of what I’m going to do with the amount that I am saving. I just think that at least I have a good amount in times of emergency or any unfavorable crisis.

In our write up about our life plans, we were tasked to cover at least our family goals, career aims, education, attitude, financial planning, physical and social well-being, artistic craft, public service and some pleasure. The parts were originally listed alphabetically but I ordered them as such because that’s the order of my priorities with family and career-oriented goals being on top.

Family-wise, my goal is to have my father have a comfortable life for the remaining of his life. Although both my sisters have good careers and earn good money, I also want my sisters to have good family life together with their children and husband; so, I intent to help them when necessary.

When it comes to my career and education. I am taking this MBA course to tackle both because I think they’re interconnected. Hopefully, this MBA program improve and smoothen the road to my corporate world journey. I wish to become a CFO someday; it’s going to be difficult but there’s no harm in trying.

Currently, I only have a few hundred thousand pesos in my bank account and an old car as my main assets and no liabilities, fortunately. I plan to save more and invest a few so I can hopefully have stacks in the future. All the remaining aspects are all bonuses but all those mentioned will be taking the front seat in my priorities.

I have re-read what I have written and submitted to Miss Pia. This is the same conclusion I put in the quarter century life plan, but I’m happy our professor required us to do that assignment as it made me draw a clear street that I will walk through in the next 25 years. It's remarkable how the assignment, mandated by our teacher, has proven to be instrumental in providing me with a clear roadmap for the next 25 years of my life. Through this exercise, I've come to recognize the critical importance of discerning between my wants and needs, which is a fundamental step in shaping my individuality and of course, for me to have a brighter future, not just selfishly but for everyone I love. It has become evident that this self-awareness is key to navigating the complexities of life effectively. Also, thanks to this activity, I've also been reminded of the invaluable role faith plays in our journey. Acknowledging the presence of the Guy upstairs, I have found comfort in the belief that He will guide me and help me build my own success. It's a reassuring notion that, amidst life's trials and tribulations, we are not alone. All that's required of us is patience, coupled with faith in the benevolent forces that govern our universe. I also realized that you need all aspects mentioned to be generally successful in life. Life is not just having plenty of assets, it is about your journey in this world and that there is God to help us; we just need to be patient and believe in him.

$2.50 cut, don't judge.

Apparently, I was upcharged from the regular price of $1.50. Maybe because I sound like a frog being strangled when I try to speak the local language. Anyways, I tried pho last week and gotta say that Khmer pho is quite yummy. It's basically a steak soup with rice noodles, onions, chilies, basil, lemon, and much more if you choose. Some of you may recognize Peter in the picture above- he went to CBU a few years ago and now we are BEST buddies! Having grown up in Cambodia, Peter speaks incredible Khmer, so I hang out with him in hopes of inheriting his speaking skills.

Below, you'll see we celebrate 2 of our coworkers completing the EMI fellowship program. Fellowships are a multi-year early career program within EMI that enable people to stay at several EMI offices for around 6 months each, all while doing engineering work, taking Bible classes, and learning more about the local culture. It was pretty special celebrating our fellows and will be hard to see them go.

On a more professional note, I am enjoying a new part of the project YWAM! I've been assigned to do draft the site water distribution lines (where the pipes go). It's honestly easy work compared to the past crazy few weeks of drawing pipes, valves, grease interceptors, and whatever else plumbing has to throw at me. I'm also really excited to say that I am going to get some electrical work under my belt in a project with Agape International Missions. They are an amazing organization and I'm really excited to help out with what they do.
