Klaus Mikaelson x Reader!Soulmate x Elijah Mikaelson PART 4
Word Count- 3.1k
Warnings- Swearing, spoilers obi.
My fingers graze the texture of my history textbook. My eyes read through each line. Before I know it I’m at the end of the page, and yet I can’t recall a single sentence I had just “read.” I let out a loud sigh and closed the book, placing it back in place on my desk. Ever since the day I got kidnapped this has been a problem. Without being on edge, I can’t focus on school work, the people around me, or myself. Every time I walk by someone I instantly tense up to the idea of them being something supernatural. I know that Elena has told me everyone in town that she knows is a part of that world but she can’t possibly know when a complete stranger is.
Worrying about who is supernatural isn’t the only thing that’s been plaguing my thoughts, either. All night I was tossing and turning with the thought of Elijah. Damon and Elena knew as much as I did about how he was still alive. Elena had told me that a vampire could be killed with a wooden stake, and yet it had only affected Elijah temporarily.
“He’s going to destroy you.”
Kathrine’s words ring in my ears. Stefan had told me not to believe a word she says, but given that these people don’t seem to know what the hell is going on either, I’ve let her words get to me. The look of fear in her eyes at the thought strikes me to my core every time I think back to it. If a vampire that is magically locked up is afraid of this Elijah guy, then I sure as hell will be too.
I jump slightly in shock as I hear knocking on my door, I untense when I hear my mother’s voice on the other side though.
“Y/N, you have a friend here to see you,” I stand up and open my door to talk to her but freeze when I see Damon standing behind her. His lips curve up into a smirk and moves his fingers up and down in a wave as he stares at me.
“Your friend Damon here is so kind to drop in to check on you. I had no idea you were feeling under the weather.”
I glance at my mother and fight the urge to roll my eyes. Although we look so much alike I couldn’t be more different from her. Where I actually take the time to listen to people and try to understand people my mother seems to only care about what benefits her. I’m not surprised at all that she hasn’t noticed my change in attitude these past few days since she never seemed to care before.
She clears her throat at the silence she gets from me, “Well, I’ll let you talk. I have to be going anyways,” She turns to Damon who fakes a smile at her, “I have a work trip this weekend.”
“Work on the weekends, well that’s no fun,” Damon responds with a flirtatious tone that makes me want to gag. My mother on the other hand turns red.
“No worries, I always find a way to liven things up,” She leans closer to him, “Even though it would be more fun with some company.”
“Mom, you should be going now,” I interrupt before I throw up on both of them.
My mother nods and says her goodbyes to both of us, mostly Damon, and walks back down the hallway. I let out a sigh of relief but then tense up when I realized that Damon had just entered my room.
“What are you doing here,” I watch as he looks around my small room. After my mother and father’s divorce, my mother wasn’t left with very much money so we had to make do with what we could scrounge up. After moving and divorce costs we left with a tiny 3 bedroom 1 bath single story home here in Mystic Falls. It looks like a shoe box compared to the other houses in this town, but I don’t really care since I plan to move away from here the second I graduate.
“I need a favor,” Damon says to me as he picks up the stuffed frog I have on my bed and tosses it around in his hands.
“What kind of favor?”
Damon places the frog back on my bed, “Well, after your and Elena’s little suicide excursion yesterday we’ve magically locked her in her house, and I need you Pukerella to go babysit.”
I send him a glare at the nickname, “If Elena’s locked in her house why do you need me to babysit her?”
Damon rolls his shoulders and walks towards the door, “I don’t need you to do anything. I want you to go to Elena’s and let me know if she plans on calling the big bad vampire to come sacrifice her.”
“So you want me to be your spy?”
Damon thinks at the question for a moment before shrugging his shoulders, “Ya, pretty much.”
I shake my head, “I’m not going to spy on my only friend.”
Damon lets out an annoyed groan and pinches the bridge of his nose as if this is the most annoying conversation he’s had, “Fine then you won’t be my spy, you’ll be the babysitter I hired for Elena. There happy? Now come on I got other stuff to do today other than arguing with you, people to go kill and stuff like that you know?”
Damon grabs me by my upper arm and practically drags me out of my room and down the hallway toward the front door. He ignores my yells of anger as he opens the door to his car and pretty much pushes me in. I huff as he speeds over to his side and starts the car.
“Oh and by the way,” I slowly turn my head to glare at him as he starts talking, “You might want to get some vervain for yourself and your family. It was too easy getting your mother to invite me into your quaint home.”
—-
“We could watch Pretty Woman?” Elena asks Jeremy and I as we sit on the couch. Jeremy lets out a loud groan at the question making Elena laugh.
“Guess not,” She flips through some more channels before she lets out a sound of excitement, “Oh! Grease!” Elena goes to play the movie but Jeremy snatches the remote from her hand.
“No way, not happening. I have seen that movie far too many times because of you and Mom. I’m going to decide.”
It takes Jeremy another 10 minutes to scroll through the channels deciding on a movie. Every time he picks one Elena disagrees and they start arguing over it until they start searching again. This has pretty much been what we’ve been doing for the whole hour in which I’ve been at the Gilbert residence. After Damon kicked me out of his car and drove off I’ve just been listening to the Gilbert siblings argue. It’s not that bad though. Jenna, Jeremy and Elena’s aunt, supplied us with snacks a bunch of snacks before she had to leave for something she had to go do.
“Aha!”
I turn to the TV to see what Jeremy picked and cringe as I see the beginning credits for “The Human Centipede.”
Elena’s sound of disgust mirrors mine as she stands up, “This is no use. Y/N do you just want to go up to my room?”
I glance at the TV again momentarily and nod my head, “Defiantly.”
“You’ve got to read this book I just got,” Elena jumps up from her spot on the floor next to me and goes to her bookshelf, “The romance in it is so steamy and the main male character in it is so hot!” She stops and blushes at what she just said.
“Don’t tell Stefan,” She points at me.
I laugh as I bring my fingers to my lips and pretend to lock them, “You’re secret is safe with me.”
Elena and I had been making small talk until I had mentioned that I liked reading, which caught her attention. She had told me she does too and we began talking about our favorite books and genres. To which we found out we’re both fans of romance, jumpstarting an hour-long discussion.
Elena sits back down next to me and hands me her book. I strum through the pages.
“I’ll make sure to read it and let you know what I think.”
She nods and looks away as if in thought, “I can’t believe we didn’t become friends earlier. Why is that?”
Her question has me stirring uncomfortably, “Honestly I’m not that surprised. I’m not that noticeable.”
This comment has Elena furrowing her eyebrows and shaking her head, “You’re joking right,” At my look of confusion she continues, “Of course I noticed you. I mean when you come to a small town like this it’s hard not to be noticed but what I mean is that I always thought you were cool.”
I can feel my cheeks warm up at her compliment and I glance down at my fingers to hide it.
“You thought I was cool?”
“Ya of course,” She responds instantly, “You’ve got great style and you’ve got this mysterious aura about you. I just never approached you because I thought you didn’t like me.”
Her confession has me looking up and frowning, “Why would you think that?”
She shrugs her shoulders, “You just kind of sometimes look like you don’t want to be approached by anyone. I just assumed. I’m sorry.”
I shake my head at her apology, “Don’t apologize! And no, I never hated you I always thought you were the cool one. I just think I have that look on my face all the time.”
Elena laughs and smiles at me, “OK, good.”
“Good.”
We’re about to start talking about books again when we hear the front door open.
“Jenna must be home,” Elena says as she stands up and reaches her hand down for me to grab. I grab it and pull myself up and we walk downstairs.
We turn the corner and we both give each other a look as we see Jenna on the ground rummaging through some boxes.
“Hey. What are you doing,” Elena questions her Aunt.
“Oh perfect timing,” She grabs a cardboard box and hands it to Elena, and then gives another to me.
“Whoa. Oh. What is this stuff?”
“Your mom’s files from the historical society. I got roped into helping Mrs. Lockwood,” Jenna grabs her box and stands up, “And by roped, I mean very excited to participate.”
I silently laugh as I try to balance the heavy box in my arms, the laughing stops though once Jenna closes the door and I lock eyes with the man who’s been haunting my every waking thought.
“Hey, I’m Elijah.”
Elena and I stand there frozen as we watch Jenna interact with the vampire.
“Elijah’s in town doing research on Mystic Falls,” She introduces us not knowing we’ve already had the displeasure of meeting.
I freeze up and grip the box I’m holding tighter to my chest as Elijah walks closer to us. He quickly greets Elena, skating her hand before turning his full attention onto me. I’m visibly shaking right now and it only worsens as Elijah reaches his hands up and grabs the box from my hands. His fingers grazed mine for longer than needed.
“Here let me take this,” He places the box back down and reaches his hand up to me in greeting.
We both stand there looking at each other for what seems like forever as he waits for me to shake his hand.
“I don’t like being touched,” I blurt out. Elijah slowly lowers his hand and I might be mistaken but from the look on his face, he almost appeared saddened by that.
Jenna joins us again telling Elijah that he can stay here and rummage through the boxes, to which he turns down. I try to find the wall behind Elena interesting to keep my line of sight away from the vampire, but I can still sense him staring at me. After another moment he tells Jenna he’s going to have someone pick up the boxes tomorrow and bids Jenna and Elena a farewell. I almost think he’s left us but when I look back over I find that Elijah has moved even closer and he gives me a warm smile and leans down.
“I hope to speak with you again soon, Miss Y/L/N.” My chest starts moving up and down rapidly, which he seems to have noticed, as I nod at his words. He doesn’t seem to get that I won’t be saying anything back to him because he stands there staring at my face. After what seems like a lifetime I watch as he moves by me towards the front door, but not before he lifts a finger and grazes the end of my sweater.
I watch with bated breath as he shuts the door behind him. Elena doesn’t waste any time before dragging me up the stairs and banging on Jeremy’s door. As she goes to open the door I feel a hand grab my waist and pull me. My back hits something strong and I go to squeal but it comes out muffled as a hand moves over my mouth. I look up and freeze as I stare up at Elena to whom he motions to be quiet. I hear Jeremy open his door but I can’t focus on any of the words he’s saying as I watch Elijah’s face. I make note of the light stubble that runs across his jawline and the practically flawless skin he has. Lucky ass vampires. My staring must’ve caught his attention, as his dark brown eyes meet mine. Once again the corners of his lips turn upwards into a small smile as he watches me watch him.
Jeremy walking by us catches my attention and Elijah drops the hand from my mouth, but not before leaning down, and what I could’ve sworn was sniffing my hair. Elena quickly grabs my hand and pulls me away from Elijah and for a second I almost feel annoyed at this. Clearly not as annoyed as Elijah though was lets out a snarl, making Elena go rigid.
“What do you want?”
Elijah composes himself once, “I think it’s time we three at a little chat.”
—-
“Forgive the intrusion. I mean your family no harm,” Elijah tells Elena as he walks around her room.
“Why did you kill those vampires when they tried to take me,” Elena questions him as she comes to sit down next to me on her bed.
“Because I didn’t want you to be taken,” Elijah says confusing both Elena and I, “Klaus is the most feared and hated of the Originals but those who fear him are desperate for his approval. If word gets out that the doppelganger exists there’ll be a line of vampires eager to take you to him and I can’t have that.”
A cold feeling runs up and down my spine at the mention of Klaus.
“Isn’t that exactly what you’re trying to do,” Elena questions him again.
“Let’s just say that my goal is not to break the curse.”
My eyebrows furrow in confusion at the confession. Elijah looks at Elena and then brings his eyes towards me for a moment before turning back to Elena as she begins speaking.
“So what is your goal?”
“Klaus’ obsessions have made in paranoid. He’s a recluse. He trusts only those in his immediate circle.”
“Like you?”
“Not anymore.”
“An old ass paranoid vampire, how much better could this be,” I whisper out loud to myself sarcastically. I look up and see Elijah looking at me with a small smirk on his face as he must’ve heard my comment.
“You don’t know where he is do you,” Elena questions but he doesn’t turn his gaze away from me, “So you’re trying to use me to draw him out.”
Elijah lets out a sigh as he turns his attention back towards my friend, “Well, to do that I need you to stay put and stop trying to get yourself killed.”
He gives her a smile and I have to stop myself from smiling at it.
“How do I know you’re telling the truth?”
“Well, if I wasn’t being truthful, all your family would be dead and I’d be taking you to Klaus right now. Instead… I’m here and I’m prepared to offer you a deal.”
And the smile was instantly gone.
This grabs Elena’s attention, “What kind of a deal?”
Elijah stands up and starts walking around, “Do nothing. Do nothing, live your life, stop fighting. And then, when the time is right, you and I shall draw Klaus out together and I shall make certain that your friends remain unharmed.”
“And then what?”
“Then I kill him.”
“Just like that?”
Elijah smirks at her, “Just like that. I’m a man of my word, Elena. I make a deal, I keep a deal.”
“How are you going to be able to keep everybody safe?”
“You know, I notice you have a friend, Bonnie, is it? She seems to possess the gift of magic. I have friends with similar gifts.”
“You know witches.” Elena nods her head to which I fight the urge to say “duh” to. This guy is oldddd, of course, he knows witches.
“Together we can protect everybody that matters to you.”
I watch silently as Elijah walks over to Elena and reaches his hand out for her to shake, “So do we have a deal?”
“As long as you keep my friends safe,” Elena looks over to me, “Y/N is one of those friends.”
Elijah looks over to me and smirks, “Trust me deal or no deal. No one will be laying a finger on Y/N. That I give you my word on.”
I fidget under his intense stare.
“I need you to do one more thing for me.”
Elijah turns back to face Elena with an incredulous look, “We’re negotiating now?”
Elena tells Elijah she’ll accept his deal if he gets his witches to free Stefan from some vampire tomb he’s been trapped in. Why has no one told me this yet? Elijah reluctantly agrees and they shake hands, cementing their deal. With one last glance toward me, Elijah nods his head and speeds away.
Elena and I both let out shaking breaths as we stared at each other.
“Any chance you want to spend the night,” Elena asks me hopefully with a sheepish look.
I nod my head quickly, “My mom is out of town and my brother’s at a sleepover. There’s no way in hell I’m going back to that empty house tonight.”

One of Those Days

Sometimes, you wake up, and can immediately tell it’ll be a hard day. The sun has barely risen, yet there’s already a million noises coming through your window. Chatters of people having their morning walks, car horns from those too impatient to let them cross, the distant clang of a dropped pot, and-
“REBEKAHHH!”
-Klaus, yelling for his sister. At seven in the morning.
“What the bloody hell are you shouting for?! I’m right here!”
You sigh, glad that mystery solved quickly.
There’s probably a few more minutes until your alarm rings, so instead of getting up a little earlier, you opt to enjoy your last minutes of peace. Though you soon realize that’s impossible, given your circumstances. On top of the city sounds, there’s a bird right outside your window, and when you try to turn away from it, the tag on your blanket itches the inside of your thigh.
“Ugh!” You toss the blanket off.
Your alarm sounds not a second later.
With a slap to your phone and then another to your forehead, you decide to just get ready for the day. Luckily, not much is planned. Marcel still has control over the city, and with you being human, your Mikaelson hosts don’t want you outside at all.
See, you live with the family of original vampires. You used to be a Mystic Falls’ resident, but then after developing a close connection with the siblings, decided to move to New Orleans with them and get a fresh start. You were tired of the small town life, and while the big city can be overwhelming at times, you’ll never get sick of the culture it has to offer. Besides, living with the most powerful family makes you happier than you ever believed you could be.
As much as you love them, though, they can be a pain. Like when Klaus can’t find his sister, but forgets a whisper would summon her just as effectively. Instead, he has to wake up the whole quarter, and inconvenience you with a headache. When you reach the dining room that day, you slump your head on the table.
“Everything alright, darling?” Kol’s voice floats over your head, making you aware of his presence.
“Tired.”
“Is your bed comfortable enough? Do you need more blankets?”
You haven’t been in the city long, and his consideration warms your heart.
“Oh, I’m okay. I’m very comfy. Just haven’t gotten used to the city yet.”
“Ah, I understand.”
His attention drifts to his sister. You busy yourself with a plate of food and ignore how tired you feel. When Elijah sits beside you, you offer a smile, but don’t say anything. The man, polite as ever, does the same. Though while two of the siblings are quiet, the other two aren’t. Klaus and Rebekah are still on the same topic from earlier. They bounce off each other quickly, childish banter turning into an argument.
You try to eat in peace and ignore them, but it’s difficult. And it doesn’t help that you’ve been feeling down lately, anyway. It’s rather unexplainable, the way you feel. Some days you’d rather stay in bed all day than face the world. Your whole body could be begging for you to get up and get things done, but you just can’t. No matter how hard you fight your own mind, sometimes there’s no winning the raging war.
To make matters worse, you’re always hypersensitive when you find yourself in these low moods. Every little thing is overstimulating and there’s no pause button. This morning, you didn’t even get a chance to wake up before the sounds started. (Thanks, Klaus.) You roll your eyes in your head, annoyed.
“Hey.” A poke to your shoulder startles you, making you jump. “You okay?”
“Ooh, you caught me off guard.”
“Sorry,” Kol smiles, “you in deep thought, or rolling your eyes at Klaus’ statement?”
“Uh…” You bite your lip. You were rolling your eyes about Klaus, but missed whatever statement it was that he just made. “What did he say?”
“That he was on his way to have a little chat with Marcel. That will go swimmingly.”
“Oh.” You snort and decide to joke. “Both.”
Kol grins at you, but then, thankfully, leaves you alone again.
After breakfast, you retreat back into your room, not in the mood to face the day. If Klaus is really going to start shit with Marcel, it’ll be an intense day. You’ve never met the current king of the French Quarter, but Elijah’s told stories. Marcel and the family used to be close, but then, like all their other relationships, ties ended drastically.
“But not with you, of course,” he had promised. “You’re our girl.”
You were skeptical for a moment. Who wouldn’t be, knowing the Mikaelsons? But then Klaus approached you from behind with a kiss to your hair and confirmed his brother’s words,
“As long as we have your loyalty, you’ll always have ours.”
You could see the truth in his statement. Everyone who ended up on their bad side had betrayed them in some way. So, as long as you didn’t repeat others’ mistakes; as long as you kept your trust in the family, you would be considered family. And ever since the day you first grew close, you have been their family.
You’re close with all of the siblings. Elijah, first, when you couldn’t take your eyes off him at Damon’s dinner party. Then Rebekah, and then Kol, when he undaggered. Even Finn, before his untimely death - thanks to Matt, your good friend now worst enemy. Klaus took the longest to trust you, and you can’t blame him for having trust issues, but once he realized how much his siblings adored you, he was quick to accept your place with them.
Now, the five of you live together, nine hundred miles from your hometown. It’s certainly a change, but every day with them is an adventure.
Like today, you suddenly think, overhearing Elijah’s footsteps in the hallway. Today has definitely been one of those days.
“Y/N?” He stops outside your door.
“Mhm?”
“Can I come in?”
“Sure.”
Elijah opens the door, but doesn’t fully enter your room. He looks you up and down before smiling. “I just thought you seemed sad earlier and wanted to check on you. Is everything okay?”
“Oh!” You put on a brave face to mask the tiredness you feel internally. “Yeah, I’m just out of sorts today. It’s nothing.”
“Are you sure? Because if someone’s bothering you, that’s something we can take care of.”
“No, no, I promise. It’s all just me. Just having a day.”
“You’re positive?” He asks for confirmation again.
“Have I ever lied to you, ‘Lijah?”
He looks down at his shoes, embarrassed. “No, you haven’t. I apologize for doubting you.”
“It’s okay,” you step closer to him, resting against the door frame. “No need to apologize. But I swear, I just… woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something. New Orleans is a loud city. I’m still adjusting.”
“Okay. Well, call if you need anything. Even the smallest thing.”
“I will.”
“Oh, and be careful in the off-chance that Marcel storms in here. There’s a fight brewing in the quarter.”
“I’ll keep an eye out.”
“Better yet, stay inside for the day. So you’re not in harm’s way at all.”
“Okay, ‘Lijah.”
He smiles at you, then kisses your hand. “Now, I need to neutralize my brother. But I needed to make sure our girl was okay first.”
“She’s okay. Go deal with him.”
Elijah straightens his collar before speeding off to no doubt defend his brother in a fight. You love Klaus, but man, does he get angry. And then from anger, comes pure rage, then absolute chaos. Once situations escalate that far, the whole block better hide if they want to keep their hearts in their chest.
You sigh, thinking of the carnage that may come. You’re not sure you can deal with his anger issues today, especially not coupled with those of Marcel. Of all the days they have to fight, it’s the one that you might snap, too, if he raises his voice one more time.
Suddenly, your bed looks like the perfect oasis away from the mess behind your door. A good pillow over the ears might prevent an impending meltdown. You crawl into it at once and let your body melt into the mattress.
You hadn’t lied to Elijah, though you hadn’t given him the full truth, either. Yes, you are, in general, okay. Not necessarily today, but at that moment, you were. Also yes, you’re not feeling great today, partly because of all the city noise. And, finally, yes, most of it is just you and your body not in the mood to be awake. Though Klaus is contributing, just a little bit, to your mental distress today. Elijah would understand, of course, but then he’d have a talk with his brother about it, and you really didn’t want to burden either of them in that way, so you put on a smile and didn’t mention it. You’d bet Elijah knows the full truth, and knows why you won’t admit it, but he respects you if you don’t want to talk about it. That’s one of the reasons you love him so much.
You get a couple hours of rest until your slumber is interrupted by a new knock on your door. It’s not soft, like Elijah’s, so it must be one of the younger two.
“Oh no,” you mutter, wondering what it must be now.
“Y/N?” Rebekah’s voice comes from the other side. “Are you awake?”
“I am now.”
She opens the door as you reply. “Oh what the bloody hell are you still doing in bed?”
“Sleeping.”
“Obviously! Come watch a movie with Kol and I! We’d love your company.”
“An actual movie, or the public display of violence happening outside in the quarter?”
“We haven’t decided yet!” She grabs your hand. “Come on!”
You yawn. “I’m gonna pass today, I’m not up for it.”
“Awh, Y/N! It won’t be as fun without you!”
“I have a headache, Bex,” you fib.
“Do you want some blood for that?”
“Does that even work like that?”
She shrugs, “not sure.”
You cuddle into your pillow. “Another time, okay?”
The girl smiles, then leans forward to kiss your head. “Okay. If you change your mind, come find us.”
“I will. Thank you.”
“Dinner’s at seven. Will you be there?”
“Yeah,” you promise, “I should be better by then.”
You are not, in fact, better by then. If anything, your foul mood progressed into an actual headache within thirty minutes of Rebekah leaving. Shouts throughout the city managed to penetrate the thin glass of your windows, and you could hear almost everything as Klaus heckled the current king. For hours, it went on, until the sun went down and they assumedly put it off for another day. By seven o’clock, you were able to sneak in another nap, but you still felt way overstimulated from the day’s events.
Not to mention the fact that you spent all day in bed. Sometimes, you’re overstimulated by too much going on, but today you partly did it to yourself by hiding away all day. The guilt of avoiding everyone weighs on your chest. Rebekah had invited you to a movie; Elijah went out of his way to check up on you, and you had more or less dismissed them both. A bitter taste sits in your mouth when you think about it. Water doesn’t wash it out.
Hopefully dinner will.
For the first ten minutes, the night passes peacefully. Most of the conversation is focused between the meal and the movie the two had watched. The events of the day, seemingly, are left in the past.
But then, of course, Kol has to make a comment on something he overheard that he thought was funny. And that set Klaus off into a spewing of anger. He’s pissed at Marcel, but now, also, at Kol for bringing it up. Elijah puts his face in his hands, and Rebekah sends both a huge eye roll.
What was a moment of much-appreciated silence is now a yelling match. After five minutes, you reach your breaking point.
“Why do you feel the need to comment on that, Kol? It was so insignificant, but you’ve felt the need to bring it up, and now I’m reminded of how much Marcel has done to piss me off!”
“I didn’t mean to make you upset, bloody hell! I thought it was funny!”
“It wasn’t funny to me when he was spitting in my face! I-”
“Oh my god! Are you ever not arguing?!” You suddenly shout.
The table goes silent and all eyes are on you. A needle could be dropped and it would be heard across the quarter.
“I’m sorry,” you apologize quickly, embarrassed.
“Love,” Elijah puts a hand on your shoulder, “are you alright?”
At his touch, you flinch. He retracts his hand quickly, but doesn’t move his body away from its proximity to yours.
Klaus, although upset at the interruption, notices this and calms a little. “Everything okay, Y/N?”
“I’m fine. It’s nothing.”
“That little outburst didn’t sound like nothing.”
“I’m just stressed.”
“Darling, what’s got you all upset? Tell us and we’ll sort it out now.”
“It’s no one, Kol, I’m just not feeling well.”
“Still have a headache, sweetheart?” Rebekah asks.
“You have a headache?” Klaus butts in.
The assortment of questions makes you drop your head. It nearly hits the table, but Elijah grabs your frame before you can fall. Tears form in your eyes, visibly.
“I’m just really overstimulated today. I woke up weird and this city is loud, and then there was all the fighting all day long, and then I hid in my room all day, but then I felt bad about hiding, and now I’m making you all worried because I can’t get my shit under control!”
“And that’s your fault, how?” Elijah asks, “you cannot blame yourself for the way you feel.”
“But I need to handle my emotions better. I’m sorry.”
“No apologies necessary, love,” Klaus adds, “I certainly haven’t helped, fighting with children all day.”
“Niklaus,” Elijah warns, but Klaus doesn’t argue with him this time.
“I should’ve stayed with you when you said you had a headache.”
“Don’t blame yourself either, Bex. It’s not your fault.”
“But we could’ve cuddled,” she frowns.
“It’s okay. I got a nap, and it helped a little. I just need to get used to my life being different now. None of you are at fault.”
“Nor are you,” the eldest reminds, “it’s been quite a day for us all.”
Kol clears his throat, “say, after dinner, if you feel up to it, we could all watch a movie and cuddle around you? I think some comfort is much needed.”
“Sure,” you agree, “but I might fall asleep during it.”
“That’s quite alright,” he smiles. He then stands up to hug you, but when his arms wrap around your neck, you freeze.
“Not yet, please. I’m still a bit stressed.”
He gives you a wink. “Of course, darling. Let me know when you’re ready.”
Klaus flicks his napkin across the table. He’s folded it into the shape of a heart. “We love you. You know that, right?”
You take the heart, kiss it, and put it in your pocket. “I do. I love you all, too. Thanks for understanding.”

heartbreak feels so good (part 2)
Pairing: Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw x Reader Word count: 3861 CW: Shitty ex-boyfriends, slow burn, angst, fluff
Part One Part Three
Your boyfriend's callsign is Viper, which is fitting. Bradley doesn't know how much longer he can watch this man destroy you, but luckily for him, he doesn't have to wait too long.
Use of Y/N, but no description of reader. THIS IS A MULTI-PART FIC.
Tumblr media
The eerie silence of your apartment woke you that morning. Either it was never usually this quiet, or you just hadn’t noticed it when Elijah stayed over. There had been a few occasions over the weekend where you’d noticed differences like this, and you wondered when and if it got any easier to deal with.
You had awoken with your childhood teddy bear tucked beneath your chin. Somewhat disoriented, you sat up and glanced around the room. Your phone was charging on your nightstand with a glass of water and a Post-It next to it. That’s when it hit you that Bradley had been here the night before. You must have fallen asleep on the sofa during your wallowing sesh, which meant he’d carried you to bed. Ted was staring at you accusingly as though he’d noticed how your heartbeat stuttered once, twice, and then righted itself.
Burning with curiosity, you reached over and grabbed the orange Post-It, reading what you could only assume were Bradley’s words hungrily. His handwriting was atrocious, as wonky as his voice was raspy.
Getting Starbs. Be back soon x
Well, that explained that one. For the second morning in a row, you’d woken up feeling rough, although you didn’t feel as bad as yesterday. Yesterday, crawling out of bed had felt more like crawling out of the pits of hell. Today, you knew that Bradley was coming back with coffee—after having slept over—and while this was confusing, it gave you something to think about aside from Elijah.
You took a cold shower to reset your central nervous system, using all your fancy products in an attempt to make yourself feel better. It only partially worked, so you decided to put on one of your favourite outfits, which had the tendency to make you appear more confident than you actually felt. Now seemed as good a time as any to buy into the fake it till you make it movement.
When you ventured into the living room, you noticed that the nest you had built on the sofa was still intact, although it had been moved around slightly to serve as a makeshift bed. This must have been where Bradley spent the night after he’d tucked you in. Something about this was hard to accept, and as you stood there staring at the pillows and duvet, you tried to come up with an explanation as to why he’d stayed. As you cycled through the possibilities, the same part of your brain that believed you weren’t worthy of anyone better than Elijah started trying to convince you that Bradley was going to do the same thing he had. Or worse, he was just pitying you.
These were the kinds of tricks your brain liked to play on you, and usually, it was successful, but this time you were interrupted. Someone was knocking on your front door, presumably Bradley, who didn’t have a key. It dawned on you too late that you’d given Bradley your spare yesterday evening when he’d told you he might go out and grab coffee in the morning, and you were turning the handle before you could really register what this meant.
It had only been a few days, but you’d forgotten just how disarming Elijah was. He was standing in the hallway with a bunch of beautiful red roses, dressed in your favourite outfit of his: black cargos, one of his band tees and his beat-up Docs. You could smell his aftershave from where you stood, and he’d obviously had a haircut and beard trim before coming to see you.
Both relief and dread flooded you simultaneously, and you were torn between slamming the door in his face or collapsing into his arms, flowers be damned.
‘El,’ you croaked. ‘What’re you doing here?’
He smiled sheepishly, holding out the flowers so you could take them. They smelled like second chances and summer romance. ‘Went to that market we used to go to this morning and saw these. They made me think of you, so I thought you should have them.’
‘T-thanks?’
‘I know it’s out of the blue, but I thought we should talk.’ He said all of this so calmly— cool as a cucumber—as if this were the most natural thing in the world. As if you were going to discuss the weather and not his narcissistic tendencies. ‘I might have overreacted.’
You scoffed. ‘What was your first clue?’
Elijah rolled his eyes. ‘I didn’t come here to fight. I came to apologise, Y/N. Maybe there’s something here worth salvaging.’
And didn’t this happen every single time? He fucked up on a monumental scale, only realised because of your reaction, and apologised because he knew that’s what he was supposed to do, not because he saw any issues with his behaviour. He’d promise to work on it, you’d believe him, and then the cycle would start all over again. After dealing with it for a year, you were only just becoming aware of the ways he manipulated you, ways that would probably still work if you gave him enough time.
The scary part is that you were considering letting him despite the newly reawakened, sane part of your brain screaming at you not to.
‘Y/N?’
Oh God. No, no, no, no.
Bradley Bradshaw had materialised behind Elijah in all his golden glory, two coffees in hand, aviators perched on the tip of his perfect nose. He was wearing shorts and a black tank top, so clearly, he’d popped home to change clothes. To top it off, he was doused in a light sheen of sweat that glistened underneath the lights in the hallway.
The sane part of your brain was relieved to see him, but the part that Elijah controlled was about to implode. Your hands felt clammy, and your throat was thick with nerves, making it incredibly difficult to talk.
Elijah spun around. Even though he now had his back to you, you had a pretty good idea of what his face looked like. His shoulders tensed up and you watched him squeeze both of his hands into fists.
‘What the fuck?’
‘El, it’s not what it looks like, he-’
Elijah spun around. His anger was an almost tangible thing. He’d always struggled with it, what with having undiagnosed and unmedicated ADHD, and it could be terrifying. He also liked using it as an excuse when he acted out, claiming he couldn’t help it.
Bradley seemed relatively calm. You knew it was a front, that he wanted to rip Elijah’s head off, but that would end up hurting you, so he was reigning it in for your benefit.
Elijah was glancing between you and Bradley, nostrils flaring and jaw set with anger. Briefly, you locked eyes with Bradley but couldn’t determine what emotions were hidden there.
‘Not that it’s any of your business, Viper,’ Bradley started. ‘But I’m here helping Y/N through a tough time. We’re friends, and that’s what friends do.’
‘Not sure why she’s having a tough time.’ Elijah spat. ‘I’m the one getting sent pictures of his girlfriend walking down the beach with another guy. Do you have any idea how that made me look?’
‘Maybe it should’ve been you, then. Oh, wait,’ Bradley smiled sarcastically. ‘You were too busy ghosting her because she went out with her friends.’
‘I don’t need to stand here and listen to this. Who the fuck do you think you are, man? This has nothing to do with you.’
‘Elijah.’ You warned.
‘And you’re defending this guy now, Y/N? What the fuck is wrong with you?’
‘That’s enough.’
‘No, I’m not done. Because I wanna know what you think gives you the right-’
Bradley sidestepped Elijah and handed you the two iced coffees. You stood there dumbly, unable to do anything.
‘I’m her friend, that’s what gives me the right. I’m the one who’s gonna pick up all the fucking pieces.’
Elijah was trying to square up to Bradley, but he was a fair bit shorter, so it just looked pathetic.
‘Pick up all the pieces of what? Her broken heart?’ Elijah laughed bitterly. ‘Boo fucking hoo. If she weren’t such a slut, we’d still be together. It’s her own fault.’
Bradley Bradshaw wasn’t a violent person. It was a last resort for him, so when he slammed Elijah into the wall, you knew it was because he’d been pushed way beyond his limit by that last comment.
Elijah shoved Bradley off him and swung, clipping the side of his face and causing him to stagger back. Bradley took a second to right himself and, with a great heaving breath, swung back hard. You squeezed your eyes shut, but the sound of Bradley’s fist meeting Elijah’s nose was loud enough that you could still picture it vividly. It reminded you of the sound of gravel getting crushed underneath the tyres of the Bronco or the eggshells you’d spent the last year walking over to spare Elijah’s feelings.
The sound seemed to snap you out of your helpless daze.
‘That’s enough!’ You yelled.
The bin bag containing Elijah’s belongings was next to the front door so you’d remember to take it to work the next day. You grabbed it and threw it at Elijah, who just about managed to catch it before it hit him in the face.
‘I don’t wanna see your face around here again.’ You said bitterly. ‘And I don’t want any rumours going around base about Bradley and me because this breakup is all your fault. You’re the one who couldn’t get his act together.’
‘And if you ever call her a slut—or anything else—again, I’ll make sure you never fly for the navy again.’
You meant every word of it, but it was still difficult to look Elijah in the eye one last time before he walked out of your life for good. It was hard because you’d still loved a version of this man, laughed, cried, and talked for hours with him. And if he’d managed to admit to a few of his shortcomings, work on them and maybe go to therapy for his unhealed trauma, you’d probably still be laughing, crying and talking with him.
You would have probably married him.
But he would never admit to having shortcomings, never take the time to work on things, and therapy was out of the question. Love is only a small part of what makes a relationship work, and when it came to your relationship with Elijah, your love for him was the only thing keeping it going. Most days, this wasn’t even enough.
You half expected him to say something else, but he seemed to know better. Clutching the bin bag full of his belongings, Elijah skulked off down the hallway, and you watched uneasily until he disappeared around the corner, finally leaving you and Bradley alone.
You released a shaky breath, and Bradley pulled you into a hug so comforting that you just about melted. He smelled of sunshine, clean cotton, and Bleu De Chanel, and you had to refrain from inhaling.
‘I leave you for half hour, and that dick shows up.’ Bradley murmured.
You could hear the smile in his voice, which was also a comfort. After a scene like that, the last thing on Elijah’s mind would have been comforting you. Even though Bradley was the one physically hurt, his priority was still taking care of you and keeping the mood light so you didn’t start spiralling.
Reluctantly you pulled away from Bradley, not because you wanted to, but because you thought he deserved some breakfast after his morning heroics.
‘Did he get your eye?’ You asked, concerned.
‘No,’ Bradley smiled reassuringly. ‘Almost, but no.’
Once back inside, you set about making breakfast. Bradley was glancing around, somewhat disorientated, and you briefly worried if he had a concussion.
‘You good, Roo?’
‘Yeah, what happened to the coffees?’
‘Oh, they’re on the side where I keep my car keys. By the door.’
Bradley fetched the coffee and sat in his usual spot at the kitchen island. He was unharmed, but it was evident in the way he wouldn’t meet your eye that something was on his mind. While you cooked the bacon—having deja vu from yesterday—you thought about the best way to approach the situation. Bradley was entitled to feel some type of way about what had just happened, and he was under no obligation to share said feelings with you if he didn’t want to. After all he’d done for you, he was entitled to a few private thoughts. But something about the brooding look on his face made it hard to leave well enough alone, and all of a sudden, you found yourself wanting to know every thought—good and bad—going on inside his pretty little head.
You lowered the heat on the stove and turned around to grab your coffee, making a point of trying to meet Bradley’s eye. The contact lasted about three seconds before he refocused his attention on his coffee cup, which had suddenly become very interesting. This man had tells, and you were going to learn them all.
‘What’s wrong, Bradley? You can talk to me, you know?’
He shook his head slightly. ‘Nothing.’
‘Bullcrap. You can tell when I’m not being honest about how I feel, and guess what? It’s a two-way street. And just like you encourage me to talk about what’s bothering me, I’m encouraging you to do the same.’
‘I’ve created a monster.’ Bradley grinned.
‘You have. It’s your own fault, Bradshaw.’
‘It’s not a big deal,’ he said, sipping his iced latte. ‘I’ve just been trying to imagine what would’ve happened if I didn’t come at that exact moment.’
Your stomach twisted. ‘What do you mean?’
‘You were holding roses. That look on your face, Y/N… I think if I didn’t come back when I did, you would’ve let him in.’
‘That’s…’
He was gazing at you expectantly.
‘...Ridiculous.’ You finished.
‘See, I really wanna believe that,’ he smiled sadly. ‘But I know you well enough to know that you’re lying.’
You turned back around to face the stove, partly because you needed to flip the bacon and get started on the eggs and partly because you couldn’t keep the agony off your face. Because Bradley was right as usual—as much as it pained you to admit it, you would have eventually let Elijah in.
‘It’s not as black and white as that.’
Bradley’s eyes were burning holes in the back of your head. It was extremely off-putting.
‘I know, Y/N. Nothing is.’
This caught your attention. You spun around and pointed the spatula at him accusingly.
‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ You asked.
Bradley held his hands up. ‘Nothing, doll. I’m just agreeing with you.’
‘Nothing in life is simple,’ you murmured, opening the cupboard above you and taking the packet of bagels out. ‘No matter how much you wish it was.’
‘Just to be clear, I don’t blame you for wanting to let him in. He’s a manipulator, and he’s good at what he does. And you love with everything you have.’
‘Even when I shouldn’t.’
You heard Bradley sigh. ‘Y/N, I’m gonna tell you something, and I want you to really take it in, okay?’
‘Okay?’
‘Loving hard is never a bad thing, and you should never shrink your love to make it easier for people to digest. If you find yourself doing that, then the person you’re doing it for isn’t meant for you. The right people will always take your love as it comes, and you won’t have to change anything.’
 You couldn’t help but smile to yourself. ‘Like you. And Nat.’
‘Yes,’ he breathed, seemingly relieved that you were beginning to understand. ‘Just like me and Nat.’
Tumblr media
Bradley Bradshaw was not in the business of denying you of anything, which is how he found himself curled up on your sofa for the second afternoon in a row, watching reruns of Gilmore Girls. The two of you had watched so many episodes that he knew the theme song by heart, and as catchy as it was, he only liked it because you sang it each time without fail. This was the happiest and calmest he’d seen you all weekend, which was surprising after Elijah’s surprise visit earlier that day. After quite the internal debate, he’d come to the conclusion that you needed to see him after the breakup, no matter how briefly, in order to start the process of moving on.
Bradley was starting to fancy himself a love and relationship expert despite not having experienced it many times himself. Something about you and your particular situation made him feel he needed to monitor it, as though it were his job to make sure you emerged relatively unscathed.
He glanced at you sideways, wrapped up in a pumpkin-covered throw with a mug of tea keeping your hands warm, and felt this innate need to protect you from the world and everyone in it. Especially Elijah. He couldn’t explain it, but it went further than friendship, possibly even further than love.
Bradley was just about to suggest going for a walk to stretch your legs and get some air, but then the intercom started buzzing, causing the both of you to jump out of your skins.
He reached and took your tea from you so you could get up without ending up wearing it. Whoever was waiting to be let in was pretty persistent, constantly buzzing until you managed to get to the front door and click the intercom.
‘Who is it?’ You asked, panting from the exertion.
‘Natasha Trace, you know, the best friend you’ve been blanking all weekend.’
You cursed under your breath, pressing the release for the door. ‘Sorry, Nat. Come on up.’
It suddenly dawned on Bradley that he hadn’t updated Nat since sometime yesterday and that she was probably worried sick. She knew nothing about Elijah showing up at your apartment or the fact that Bradley had stayed over. The fact that he’d slept on the sofa wouldn’t matter to her when she found out. He’d never hear the end of it.
You were hovering nervously by the door, clearly anticipating the same telling-off as Bradley. ‘I was supposed to call her last night,’ you told him. ‘And then I passed out on the couch.’
‘We’re both done for, Y/CS,’ he grinned. ‘It’s been super nice knowing you.’
Somehow—in the time it took her to get up the three flights of stairs to your front door—he managed to convince himself that she wouldn’t be that mad at the two of you. But when you opened the door, he could almost feel her anger, like heat rolling off her in waves. Before you could get a word out, she was pulling you in for a rough but well-meaning hug.
‘I was worried sick, Y/N.’
You relaxed into the hug and put your arms around her middle, squeezing reassuringly. ‘I’m sorry, Nat. I should have called.’
‘Yes,’ she agreed. ‘You should’ve. Last time I saw you, you were half-cut and running away from us at The Hard Deck.’ You stepped aside so she could come in. ‘You’ve got some explaining to-’
When Natasha noticed Bradley reclining comfortably on your couch, she stopped speaking. Bradley had a shit-eating grin plastered across his face, and he wiggled his eyebrows at her teasingly.
‘Hey, Nix.’
Briefly, she glanced at you and then back at Bradley. Then back at you, then back to Bradley.
‘Don’t ‘hey, Nix’ me, mister. You’ve been here all weekend?’
He shrugged apologetically. ‘Pretty much.’
‘No text? No call?’
‘Sorry. We were kinda preoccupied with wallowing and fighting Viper off.’
‘What do you mean fighting him off?’
With a great sigh, you traipsed over to the couch and collapsed back into your spot. ‘He showed up this morning with roses and the usual fake apology.’
Natasha was incredulous. She didn’t sit down, she just started pacing in front of the couch, Gilmore Girls still playing on the flat screen behind her.
‘Are you serious?’
‘Yup, and it’s lucky I came back when I did,’ Bradley chimed in. ‘Y/N was gonna let him in.’
Natasha stopped pacing to glare at you. ‘You were gonna do what?’
You launched a throw pillow at Bradley’s head, which, fortunately for you, he didn’t manage to dodge.
‘Hey!’ He huffed. ‘I’m not blaming you! We talked about this earlier.’
You rolled your eyes. ‘It wasn’t my finest moment, okay? I’ve been drinking his Kool-Aid for so long it’s gonna be a while before it’s all out of my system. So I guess Bradley really did come back at the right time.’
This didn’t seem to satisfy Nat, so you launched into a more detailed account of the past weekend, filling her in on everything except a few details about Bradley. Those you would save for when it was just the two of you. Halfway through, she perched herself on the edge of the coffee table, facing you and listening intently to what you had to say. By the end of it, she was literally seething with rage. This time, directed at your now ex-boyfriend.
‘He ought to watch his back,’ she said through gritted teeth. ‘Cause if I see him on base, he’s gonna wish he’d never been born.’
Tumblr media
The three of you ended up ordering pizza. At one point, you got up to go to the bathroom, and Natasha took the opportunity to grill Bradley some more. He wasn’t surprised in the slightest. Only surprised that it had taken her this long.
She started the interrogation by smacking the back of his head.
‘What was that for?’ He hissed.
‘That’s for going after your best friend when she’s just had her heart broken.’
‘What makes you think I’m going after her?’
Nat pretended to think about this. ‘Hmmm, let me see… Maybe because you’ve slept here two nights in a row, and I walked into you cuddled up on her couch drinking fucking cocoa!’
‘It was tea, actually. And I slept out here both nights. Just didn’t want her to be alone.’
She relented, but only slightly. ‘Still, you need to cool it. She’s probably feeling all kinds of confused right now, and she doesn’t need you and your big puppy dog eyes making things even more complicated.’
He smiled despite himself. ‘You think I have big puppy dog eyes?’
She glared at him witheringly. ‘Is missing the point a personality trait of yours?’
‘Nix, will you calm down? I’m not going after her, I’m not confusing her, and I’m not making things difficult with my big eyes. I’ve been giving her advice, helping her through the worst of it. That’s all.’
Natasha softened, satisfied that Bradley was telling the truth. The toilet flushed, and the bathroom door opened, so they’d have to finish this conversation some other time. But before you came back, Natasha whispered one last thing…
‘I know you love her, Bradley. I know you always have. But you have to give her some time.’

Baby female Mikaelson reader x Katherine Pierce x Elijah Mikaelson
Warnings: none
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Nik, Bekah, you guys have to come with me right now. You'll never believe what I just saw" Kol rushes into the living room, not even closing the front door.
"What did you do now?" Klaus glares, while Rebekah rolls her eyes. All she asks is for one day of peace with none of her brothers barging in and ruining it.
"Nothing! I only saw something that if I told you what, then you wouldn't believe me. So come on, get up off your butts and follow me" Kol explains, both his siblings hearing the whining in his voice.
"Fine, but it better be good" Rebekah sighs and gets up off the couch, answering for her and Klaus.
It's Klaus' turn to roll his eyes, but follows his younger siblings anyway. Might as well see what Kol is yammering on about.
They follow the youngest sibling, ending up on a street right out of town. They're in front of a house, and they look over at the smiling baby brother.
"And we're in front of a random house. Kol?" Rebekah sighs, crossing her arms over her chest. "Just look through the window, and see what's going on in there" Kol points to the big window.
Kol walks up to behind the massive bush in front of said window, and the siblings follow him, exasperated. "Look!" Kol whispers excitedly. Klaus and Rebekah look through the window and their eyes shoot wide open at what's playing out in the house.
In the living room, Elijah is cradling a baby, 8 months old at the most from what they can tell.
Elijah looks down at you in his arms, and softly smiles as he walls around the living room. You're big eyes look around your surroundings before giggling and nuzzling your head into his chest.
He softly smiles and kisses the top of your head. His arms secure you tightly to his chest, making you snuggle up to your Dada.
"My sweet girl" he whispers before sitting on one of the navy coloured couches.
"What the bloody hell" Klaus says. And as if it can get any weirder and more confusing, Katherine freakin Pierce walks into the room. She obviously came from another part of the house. The kitchen is a good bet because she's holding a baby bottle filled with milk about halfway.
Katherine walks over to her husband and daughter and sits next to them. Elijah and her had gotten married long before you were born. 1958 to be exact. They've kept it a secret and killed anyone who had found out about it. You were definitely a surprise, but a great thing that happened.
"You want to feed baby girl?" Katherine smiles. You turn your gaze over to your Mama, hearing her voice. You immediately coo, and reach out the best you can for your Mama.
"Well, I think we know the answer, don't we?" Elijah passes your over to Katherine. "Hey, sweetie, you wanted Mama?" She hands Elijah the bottle, which he takes. And she adjusts you to cradle against her chest. You babble along to your parents, having no clue what their on about.
Elijah hands Katherine the bottle back when she's ready, and wraps his arm around her shoulders, having her leant against his side comfortably.
Kol, Klaus and Rebekah watch as Katherine feeds you your bottle, and Elijah watching you and Katherine with adoration in his eyes.
"Now are you guys glad you came with me?" Kol turns to them, smile lighting up his face, knowing what his siblings answers are even though they won't say it out loud.
"What are we going to do about this?" Rebekah says. "Without killing anyone please" she glares at Klaus, knowing his thoughts about Katherine.
"I'm sure they wouldn't mind visitors now would they?" Klaus smirks after a minutes of silence. "Great idea" Kol says, already walking up to the front door. Either way, if his siblings cared or not (which they obviously do), he would've disturbed his big brother and his apparent wife and child anyways.
He knocks a couple times, Klaus and Rebekah aside him.
Elijah gets up carefully from the couch, as your almost asleep, and heads over to the front door. When he opens it, he's not expecting to see his siblings on the other side.
He swears under his breath, bringing a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose. This is going to be one hell of a thing to explain to his siblings without having zero death in the process.
Why just why did his siblings have to bud in his business now, why not during any other time. This is going to be a long day.
"If it makes you feel better, we didn't just barge in" Kol says, cheeky smile on his face. "Kol" Elijah sighs and looks at his younger siblings.
"When exactly were you going to tell us you have a child, Elijah?" Klaus asks, face stone cold.
Katherine's eyes widen and she freezes when she hears his voice, and other voices as well. Before she can unfreeze and even think of what to do, Elijah walks back into the room with his three siblings following behind him.
She has no idea what to do, Klaus, her technically brother in law, is standing across the room along with Rebekah and Kol. He's wanted to kill her ever since she ran away from him the day she found out about the moonstone and his true purpose for her.
"Do not worry, they're not here to cause any harm" Elijah stands beside where she's sitting with your now sleeping form in her arms. He sets a glare on Klaus. Not any glare he'd give kol for disrupting something, but a death cold glare that no one dares crossing him, even Klaus, when he's smart of course. And right now he's definitely going to be smart. He's never seen Elijah this serious in his entire life, and that says something.
He slowly starts explaining what has been happening in his 'secret life' that kol called when he first starts. As he goes deeper in, Katherine explains some things as well. She feels a bit better now, knowing Klaus is standing down and only listening, not planning to do anything. And Elijah's right beside to protect her if the time comes.
The explaining goes smoothly. No one's hurt, and you haven't woken. The only thing that happens next is Rebekah asking to hold you.
She's always wanted kids, and since being turned, it has been snatched away from her, but she still dreams about having kids. When Elijah and Katherine both slowly nod, having a discussion with their eyes, Katherine stands.
Rebekah walks over to her and carefully takes you into her arms. Her grin is large as she holds you against her chest.
"I think we can manage, for now" Elijah looks over at both Klaus and Kol, who are still on the other side of the room.
Woe out the Storm (16) - A War You Cannot Win
Tumblr media
Wednesday Addams x female Reader
Summary: It took some time, but eventually you came to realize only Wednesday Addams could look at the raging storm of chaos and destruction and make a home out of it. Only she could listen to the cacophony of the roaring thunder and hear a melody.
Story warnings: Wednesday Addams, violence, slow burn
-Said no, hell no, I am not yours to rule, I won't be your fool-
It came out of nowhere, like lightning out of blue. Your dad hit the brakes, so hard the car stalled, and grabbed you, blasting the back of the car and jumping out. “Dad?!” he ignored your yell, yellow lightning engulfing him as he shifted into his bear lightning beast form and began running. All your confusion and the question that died on your lips vanished as a loud explosion destroyed your dad’s car.
You dared to look behind, seeing the remains falling onto the road as a figure emerged from the smoke and flames, and you recognized him immediately, just by feeling alone.
The Raijin, the thunder god, returned.
Your heart stopped for a moment, that fear, that despair returning. You trusted your dad, you knew he was strong, but not even he could go up against Raijin. He ran off the road, jumping down the hill and enhancing his speed through lightning. You were a raiju as well, but his lightning was much stronger, and you felt it electrocuting you bit by bit, but you gritted your teeth, you could deal with some numbness as long as you got away from the monster. He wasn’t running after you and for a brief, naïve moment you thought he just meant to scare you.
And then the birds flew up abruptly, each and every one of them fleeing. You saw other small animals you were running past fleeing in any direction, the entire forest being engulfed in existential panic and something primal within you, an instinct born from being a raiju told you there was no escape.
Then it happened. Everything around the two of you just exploded in a burst of blue lightning and you only survived because your dad managed to jump into the air and shift back into his human form, grabbing onto you and hovering in air with lightning.
“What the…?!” you couldn’t believe what you were seeing, an entire area, easily a mile in radius, was just destroyed. The ground cracked, trees burning and uprooted, the smell of smoke and burnt flesh of the animals that failed to flee engulfed your sense, what somehow survived was left to die a painful death, screeching, crying in pain as smoke rose above you and your dad.
You were dead. Both of you. You couldn’t even hope to match this. Your body went limp and you saw several teardrops falling from your face to the scorched ground. Wednesday told you Diego, Goody’s raiju was no match for Raijin, but you didn’t think the difference in power was this large. And you doubted he was even trying.
“Damn monster. If he took his time to charge that up he could easily destroy entire Nevermore grounds, school included,” your breath hitched as your dad said that, and this monster had something to do with Laurel’s plan, or so you and Wednesday guessed. You couldn’t even tell Wednesday to run, to find a way to get out of that mess, your phone was in the car, all you had left was the knife you got from Wednesday, strapped to your back.
“That’s your kid? Elijah?” you heard his voice, booming, powerful voice and dared to glance to the side as your dad lowered the two of you back to the ground. The monster took the hood of his cloak off, and he was exactly the way Wednesday described him. Spiky blue hair, long, flowing behind him, animalistic, angry-looking face, and pale blue eyes that sent chills down your spine. He still looked like he was around forty. And he looked like a giant, tall, easily taller than two meters, muscular, he towered over your dad.
“Raijin,” your dad spoke through gritted teeth, not even trying to attack, he just lowered you down to the ground and stood in front of you, your one last line of defense as you remained on your hands and knees, frozen. “I’ll do whatever you want, just let my daughter live,” he suggested, bargained, desperate, and the thunder god knew that.
He tilted his head to the side with a raised eyebrow. “Your arrogance amuses me. What could a beast ever offer to a god?” he raised his hand and you saw blue lightning gathering around his palm. “On second thought, you could die for her,” he lowered his hand and sat down.
“You promise you’ll let her live?” your dad asked and you stumbled to your feet, only for him to hold you back before you could get in front of him.
“Yes. There is one catch though. I choose how you die,” he vanished in a burst of lightning and appeared behind the two of you, just several feet away.
You didn’t even dare to look behind you. You kept your mouth shut, your brain desperately trying to come up with a way out of this, but nothing, absolutely nothing came to your mind. He was faster, stronger, even if you were as strong as your dad there would be nothing you could do.
“Tell me?” your dad requested, just as still as you.
“Easy. She kills you.”
The entire world shattered as those words registered in your mind.
He took a step closer to you and leaned down and you saw your father flinching, of all the things the monster could have asked for, he asked that of you. You watched as your father relaxed, he wasn’t even going to try to fight, this was it. “You hear that? You just have to kill your dad, and you’ll live. How lucky is that? Getting spared for the second time?”
You survive the second time, but the cost of your survival is your father’s life? Your eyes narrowed and you nodded. “It is lucky,” you said, took a deep breath and your eyes met his. “Let me shift. I want to make it as painless as possible. Dad’s lightning is stronger than mine, it’ll take a while to kill him unless I even things out by shifting,” from the corner of your eye you saw your father turning to look at you with a smile on his face. It was like he was already forgiving you, like the only regret he had about this was the fact that you would have to kill him.
Raijin laughed, genuinely laughed as he stepped away from you. “Of course, I shall grant you that wish. Say, child, how about you come with me. Work for me, do my biddings, be what you were meant to be! My beast!” he offered, clearly serious, seeing as your dad once more went stiff.
“Do I die if I say no?” you asked, just to be sure.
Raijin shrugged. “No, you don’t. You just get to live a long life, instead of dying the next time you see me. Besides, a tiger would fit in well with my beasts,” so, he wasn’t alone. Somehow you expected that.
“I won’t join you,” you rejected him, red sparks circling you as you prepared to shift.
“Y/N, forgive me for getting you in this situation. Don’t let this affect you, think of everyone else. Your mom, your friends, unless you kill me here, they’ll all suffer,” your dad said, his arms spread wide, accepting of your attack. Accepting this as his grave, this ruined, scorched remains of a forest.
You did think of them. Of your mom, of Enid, Thing, of Wednesday. Flashes of something you couldn’t remember came to your mind, her body leaning against yours, her eyes, the smile on her face, calling you ‘Mi Rayo’ and you wished you knew what it meant. You understood that was what happened the night after Crackstone was defeated, while you were depleted of electricity, the two of you nearly kissing. Her lips so close to yours, you could almost feel them brushing against your own. That’s what you forgot, that’s what hurt her, and you would apologize to her.
The red lightning turned orange and your body changed, shifting into your tiger form.
You were aware this time, for the most part, you understood what was going on around you, you knew what you had to do, and you gathered all of your lightning around your right paw. You watched as your father smiled and Raijin smirked right next to you.
And you swept your paw, claws out, lightning bursting from it, and slammed it right into Raijin’s chest.
“What are you doing?!” you heard your dad yelling as you discharged all the lightning you had and roared, putting more strength into your attack and sending him into a fallen tree. “Y/N!” your dad screamed your name as you charged at Raijin at full speed, lightning engulfing your body as you slammed into him and bit down on his arm before tossing him up and blasting him with several lightning strikes.
Yellow lightning burst from behind you and you saw your dad, once again in bear form zapping up and hitting Raijin from above, smacking him into the scorched ground just as you slammed your front paws on the ground in front of you and made the earth Raijin just landed on explode from a burst of lightning.
Your dad let lightning engulf his body entirely, easily looking three times as large as before as he struck Raijin, closing his jaw around the monster’s neck and trying to kill him while constantly electrocuting him and trying to paralyze him. But a single swipe of Raijin’s hand ended the struggle.
Your eyes widened as the golden lightning vanished, consumed by blue lightning, and you saw your dad falling toward Raijin, still in his bear form but clearly unable to zap out of the way. You zapped forward, slamming into him and getting him out of the way of blue lightning. You skidded across the ground, your legs not giving out despite the weight of the huge bear on your back.
“I have to admit,” Raijin sighed, opening his cloak and touching his chest. You could smell blood. “Though it wasn’t caused by lightning, the pure strength behind your attack was mildly impressive,” he was looking at his fingertips, at the drops of blood you managed to draw from his chest.
You roared, lightning bursting from your body. You would fight until your very last breath. Your dad could no longer fight, you just noticed his back legs were completely useless, burnt by the initial blast, and Raijin probably neutralized his strongest attack as if it was nothing. You were nothing as well, by that logic, but you would keep going.
You saw blue sparks and jumped above the ground, dodging a blast from the ground, the same kind of attack you used just now. You kept jumping, just barely dodging the bursts of lightning with your father still on your back. At least he shifted back into his human form. “There’s no use, you’ll tire yourself out,” he gave up, he completely, entirely gave up.
How you wished you could talk in this form, instead, all you could do was roar at him, and that split second of distraction was enough, your dad took the burnt of the damage by jumping of your back and in front of the blast, but you still got hit, and the pain so intense you instantly went back to your human form consumed you. You felt lightning ripping through you, leaving deep wounds on your chest as the two of you fell to the ground. Mortally wounded, bleeding out, and at Raijin’s mercy.
You had it easy though, you saw your dad’s left arm was gone, as well as a good portion of his chest. He was no longer breathing, he couldn’t be saved! “Damn it!” you slammed your fist on the ground as you stumbled back onto your feet.
“Passing grade for effort,” Raijin told you, not even taunting the two of you, just genuinely praising your attempt to stay alive. You watched as an orb of lightning gathered in front of his palm and gritted your teeth.
You still had some strength left, if this was going to obliterate you, you’d at the very least give it one last try. You raised both of your hands, an orb of red lightning forming in front of you.
“Ridiculous. I guess you are still somewhat human, you just won’t give up,” he smirked and threw the ball of lightning toward you.
With a defiant roar you hurled your own lightning right at it and sent several lightning bolts after it. The two orbs of lightning collided, but yours wasn’t consumed right away, they clashed in the middle, lightning crackling around them, ground splitting as red and blue mixed together and you felt your own strength skyrocketing. You felt lightning bursting all around you, consuming you, burning your wounds closed, strengthening you, as you pushed back against Raijin’s blue lightning. And bit by bit red absorbed blue, turning purple in the process. The lightning between you and Raijin exploded and you stumbled back and fell onto the ground.
~X~
He sighed, the few scratches from the explosion stinging for an entirely different reason. “In the end your body couldn’t handle it,” he approached you, your wounds closed, but you couldn’t survive the sudden increase in power. “Your fang did reach me, stubborn tiger. Rest easy, I’ll let your loved ones grieve in peace,” he crouched down next to your body and closed your eyes. “How tragic is it, to see potential squandered for the sake of dogged ideals of love,” he took out a phone, not to taunt the girl, but to let her know she lost her raiju, and he sent the video, proof of your demise.
~X~
Wednesday heard her phone beeping again as she stepped inside her home. It was dreadfully familiar, the smell, the sound of her footsteps, the entire house looked just the way it did when she left. Not that it surprised her, the house was more or less the same as it was years ago, let alone the brief time she spent at Nevermore.
She pulled her phone out of her bag as she took her shoes off, you would probably reach your own destination by now. And you did promise to send her a text and though she refused to be a slave to technology she did figure this was a convenient way to handle brief communication. Instead of a text message she saw some kind of media attachment and clicked on it.
Her eyes widened as her family came into the hall to greet her. But her eyes were glued on the phone and she just barely felt Thing on her shoulder. He froze on her shoulder, and she realized she wasn’t seeing things.
“Wednesday?” her mother spoke up, but Wednesday didn’t respond.
She just watched the video, your body, covered in blood, next to your father, both of you clearly dead.
“Lurch get back in the car!” she yelled, putting her shoes back on and rushing outside, her bag forgotten on the floor as her family went after her.
~X~
Elijah managed to roll onto his stomach and drag his body closer to you once Raijin was gone. He was dead. His heart stopped, he wasn’t breathing, he bled out, his body was completely dead, and he couldn’t move anything aside from his right arm and head.
Everything in the body functioned through brain signals, and those were electrical impulses, so as long as his brain still worked he could somewhat function. But he was running out of time. Once heart stopped beating he only had three to four minutes left, and with each passing minute his capabilities would be severely worsened. He still needed to keep you alive. You wouldn’t bleed out, your wounds were for the most part closed, he just needed to get your heart beating again. So, with what little time he had left he raised his bloody palm above your heart and sent lightning to your heart.
He looked at you, at your unmoving body. No matter what you weren’t dying with him here! He was your father, he was supposed to protect you, yet even with him there you still got this hurt! He failed as a father, but he would not let you die, his lightning gradually restarted your heart, slowly forcing your brain to send signals to the stopped organ once more, until your heart began steadily beating and he saw you breathing, each breath was shallow, but you were alive.
Raiju resilience would do the rest, you’d recover, stronger than ever before. He only wished he could speak and tell you how proud of you he was, how much he loved you, and how much he wished he could have given you a normal family, with both parents present in your life instead of the way things ended up.
In the end, him fleeing, hiding from Raijin didn’t keep you safe.
He raised his hand, brushing some dust from your face with the back of his finger. You’d be fine, you were stronger than loss. ‘Grieve, cry, process all the emotions however you want, but then get up and keep on living’ if he could have, that’s what his last words to you would be.
He pushed away from you and his right arm fell onto the ground, about a foot away from you and he closed his eyes, his brain shutting down completely. His life flashed in front of his eyes. His childhood, his first shift, his time at Nevermore, meeting Anna, your birth, it was a good life, he wished for more time with you, with your mother, but he was content knowing you were still alive.
And so, Elijah, raiju that shifted into golden bear, died, the last act of his life saving the life of his daughter.
A/N: I need season 2! Until then 3 or 4 chapters of Woe out the Storm, just to resolve the cliffhanger from the chapter 15. Gimme thoughts!
THIS IS PART FIVE GO READ THE OTHERS FIRST OK
"SHE'S sick again?" remi asks, scooting herself further into the booth.
"yeah, i think it's her sinuses or something. she seemed pretty bummed about staying home, i feel awful." andrea pouts while glancing at the menu.
"she's the only person to ever be sick this often in june," remi giggles.
"we should order something to-go for her then. maybe soup?" erin suggests.
"that sounds nice, i'll text her- hopefully she's awake."
౨ৎ
"i can't keep telling my friends i'm sick." you huff as you walk back into your room to find matt redressing.
"why not?" his voice is muffled through his shirt as he tugs it over his head, leaving his hair ruffled.
you lay yourself on your bed lazily, "because they're smart enough to stop believing me soon."
"and why can't they just mind their business?" he looks over to you before reaching down to adjust the white shoes on his feet.
you stretch an arm out to grab your phone from your side table, mumbling, "you must not have friends who worry for you.”
he shakes his head then sighs, “sure, my friends care about me, but they also know when to leave me the fuck alone.”
“right, and my friends know me well enough to know i’m never asking to be left alone.” your comment comes out with more sass than you intended but you know he doesn't understand (or care to understand) your friendships enough to comment on them. then again, you were the one who brought this up in the first place.
"mmm...right. forgot you're just a little insane," he tsks, looking into your mirror and adjusting his shirt some more.
"shut up, matt," you continue staring at your phone, though it's only open to your home screen because you're far more engaged in the conversation than anything your phone could give you. "okay actually, what should i dooo?" you whine.
"i sure as hell won't know?!" his face twists up as he turns to look at you, "you're a smart girl, i'm sure you can figure it out."
you roll your eyes, "'kay... well maybe i've picked up a hobby...like, i dont know, painting! and i just really enjoy painting all alone, 'cause it helps me...focus?"
matt sarcastically laughs through his words, “you’re weird as shit,” he throws your plush throw blanket (that fell on the floor when you pushed matt on your bed just an hour ago) at you. “alright, i’m headin’ out.”
you don’t even give him a second look, “bye.”
౨ৎ
a few cheers of “ayy” and “look who made it” echo out from across the small alley as matt tucks his keys in his front pocket.
he looks over to see chris excitedly pointing at him with an arm hooked on nathan’s neck and another close friend, elijah, sitting on an oversized couch with a smile.
matt chuckles under his breath and walks closer to them, taking in the rowdy and neoned atmosphere of this downtown bowling alley. “what’s good?” he greets his group of friends.
“what’s good with you?” nathan counters with a grin as he moves to dap up matt.
matt shrugs into the handshake as eli begins to speak and stand up, “yeah, where the fuck are you comin' from?”
“home. don’t worry about it,” matt defends as his tongue guides over his hidden smile with a loose shrug of a shoulder.
“nooo! just say it how it is, matt,” chris says through a bite of nachos, “you slept in late and forgot about boys night, big fucking deal. you’re here now!” he throws his hands up before letting them fall to his sides dramatically.
matt slowly nods his head in sarcastic agreement as he faces his friends, "he's right."
he almost wants to laugh at the fact that chris actually believed his fake-sleeping enough to let him off the hook for "forgetting" their group hangout.
cameron wanders over to the group after taking his turn bowling, “‘kay, nate it’s your turn.” he then quips his chin up with a sudden grin, "hey, matt! about time you showed."
"better late than never," he breathes before joking, "you know i had to let you guys get at least a round in before i got here to start dominating."
“the word choice is a bit insane,” nick exaggerates as he approaches with arms full of bottled water and soda cans, "how about you go get your fucking shoes before you make that kind of claim." he moves around matt to place drinks on the coffee table (decorated with various bowling ball and pin themed clutter that made nick way to happy when first seeing it).
elijah places a hand on matt's shoulder, "i'll come with you, matt."
౨ৎ
"sick baby, i'm home nowww!" andrea yells from the front door.
you mentally gather yourself to continue your deception. you add weight to your eyelids, purposely making them droop and make your voice extra scratchy, as if you'd only just awoken.
andrea's at your door quickly, only tapping it slightly open, not wanting to blind you with the harsh yellowed lighting of the hallway. "hi, you up?"
you tussle under your comforter and give a small nod, "mhm."
"do you think you're like, contagious? i have your soup here and really wanna tell you some shit about tonight." she smiles warmly.
"no you're fine. please come in, i've been all alone and bored as hell," you rub your eye softly for effect.
you feel pretty guilty about this whole thing but you aren't hiding anything tragic from her. and this "illness" hasn't ruined that many hangouts...only the one's that happen to fall on days matt texts you.
"i hate to see my favorite bitch down like this, this soup better make you feel better immediately." she sighs as she comes into your room, noisy plastic bag in hand.
"i know," you lift yourself to sit up against your headboard as she sits next to you, "think i should be all better soon. i can't miss another shift at the bakery."
you were never missing work for matt, but to cover your ass you did miss a day or two of work to show your friends just how "sick" you were. if you were sick enough to stay home from work you surely were sick enough to avoid a girls night or two. but you guess it technically does come down to matt...unfortunately.
"yeah, i'm sure mr. houffman will lose it of you call off again," she giggles, sifting through the bag for your soup and silverware.
౨ৎ
barely a week later and you're feeling the best you have in a while, with the guilt of pretending to be sick no longer following you.
it's the fourth of july so there was absolutely no way you'd be continuing that act. you weren't missing out on a holiday with as many parties as this one.
and when chris asked andrea to get the girls to come party hop for the night, you told her yes immediately.
you're currently sat atop a random kitchen counter as nick moves around to make a concoction cocktail for you. you lean back on your hands to watch as he uses a knife to slice a small lime as garnish. "wow you really have an eye for this shit, nick," you laugh at his focused stare (he tries to compensate for any drinks he's had so far, not wanting to slice a finger off).
"i guess i'm just a natural!" he exclaims as he places the lime on the rim of the plastic cups, "okay, one for you," you take it from him, "and one for me." he grins at you.
"cheers!" you motion your drink towards him and he echoes you before you both take large sips.
your eyes pinch before they grow wide, "...why's it actually...good?" you laugh.
"you bitch! you thought i'd give you a shitty drink?!" he giggles and goes for another sip of his own.
"it's not that-"
you're cut off by matt's voice, "alright, time to dip. everyone's sayin' this place is really weird."
you both look over at him with his mellow attitude and perfectly organized outfit (so that he'd 'have all the colors but not look like a walking american flag'). "what? this place has been a good time so far! right, nick?"
"suppperrrr fun. maybe it's a you problem, matt." he jokes.
"come on, chris is the one who sent me to get you two. you know i would've left you both a few houses back." he teases.
you slide off of the counter easily, "okaaay," you look into his eyes and pat his chest twice mumbling, "someone needs a smoke break," before walking off in search of the door.
"wait y/n!" nick grabs a few sealed jello shots from an ice bucket nearby before rushing after you.
though he doesn't catch up to you before matt does, grabbing your hand, "you don't even know where the fuck you're going."
you breathe out defeated, "i'm sure i could've figured it out. i don't need you bossing me around."
matt pouts with squinted eyes and his head tilted, "sure."
nick comes up to you, continuing to stuff the shots into his jort pockets, "do these shorts make my ass look fat?" he turns to show you his side profile (already giggling before the punchline of his joke lands) that showcases the multiple items shoved into his back pockets and protrude out in awkward shapes.
you and nick both fall into a laughing fit and matt only ghosts a smile at his brother's stupidity before tugging your hand towards an exit. "wait! here, hold this please," you hand your drink to matt and reach your hand out for nick's. when he takes your hand willingly you raise your conjoined hands with a smile, "aw, we're like a little train!"
nick adds to the joke by pretending to be a conductor, exclaiming all the cliche lines he knows to make you laugh.
matt finally pushes a front door open, the warm summer air finally surrounding you once more. the rest of the group chatter along the sidewalk across the street. "my friends!" nick yells.
the three of you make your way down the wooden stairs (that seem to be steeper when going down than they were to walk up), and once you're in the grass your hand drops from matts's as nick drags you across the street quickly to crash into your friends.
remi's face is annoyed and confused at first but changes immediately when she recognizes your face. she throws her arms around you for a hug, "y/n! you were found!" you laugh into her neck as she sways back and forth.
"okay guys i'm thinking we hit up the place that the end of this block, right there. they've got some crazy lights goin' on so it should be fun." chris points in the direction and looks to the group for opinions.
"yeah! let's do it!" nate encourages.
the group begin to walk down the sidewalk (and slightly into the grass) lined with miniature american flags and past the many houses full of people and decorated with fairy lights and expensive garland.
naturally, everyone gravitates into cliques due to the amount of small conversations happening at once.
"that's unreal!" erin adds while hanging her arm on your shoulder, as you both listen to remi's dramatic retelling of some guy's awful flirting with her.
"i''m so over these trash ass men," remi shakes her head.
"tell me about it," erin sighs, rolling her eyes.
just as you begin to add your own opinion, matt taps your shoulder. he seems to always find a way to interrupt you. you glance behind you and see him holding your cocktail from earlier up.
"oh thanks, i forgot you had that," erin leans off of you to give you space to turn around and grab it.
though her eyes linger on matt for a second too long causing him to send her a smile and raise his eyebrows slightly in awkward question.
you feel the tension bite at the air around you and in hopes of escaping it, you turn back around and prompt remi with a new topic to discuss.
only, now you miss when erin gives matt a second glance back- and this time she offers a gentle wave and smile to him, in truce.
౨ৎ
after a few more stops at parties (you all got a little greedy about the free drinks and food which brought three extra "one more"s before deciding to cut it off), you all head to a nearby park to end the night with a firework show.
it was surprisingly well organized, with blankets already laid out around the large grassy area so that anyone could sit and watch whether they'd planned to or not.
the night has started to get the slightest bit cooler which was much needed after such an eventful three hours, leaving everyone exhausted in their comfortable spots; chris resting his head against andrea's full thighs, you next to her with your legs sprawled and arms extended behind you, nick and nathan both sat with their legs crossed, admiring the bright fireworks despite nick's flinching every-so-often.
the blanket next to you hosts erin, remi, matt, and cameron. all laying out as they laugh and talk, which you assume comes from a combination of the edibles they'd all taken at one of the parties and remi's addictingly outgoing nature that can force anyone to want to talk to her.
the booming fireworks go on for another twenty minutes before dying down and leaving the crowd in the dark, smokey air.
as you adjust to standing and take out your phone to use as a makeshift flashlight, you read the most recent of your many notifcations:
MATT - 12:36 AM
you down to paint after this???
you bite at your freshly chapped bottom lip before looking over to matt, who's currently using his hands obnoxiously to explain something he's clearly passionate about to cameron.
you sliently sigh before replying:
YOU -12:47 AM
sure
ILLINOISE. 🦋
A Full Run Down of the Show (From my memory) :
The show opens with Prologue (or, a Conjunction of Drones…) On stage we see Henry and Douglas sleeping peacefully until Henry eventually awakens. He gets up and walks over to a few things hanging up I believe and starts putting on his clothes, occasionally looking over at Douglas to make sure he’s still asleep (that’s just what I picked up from the moment) before finally leaving and leaving Douglas sound asleep and alone. (I also remember my sister literally getting so upset over this moment and being like “he just left him:(“ and her boyfriend having to calm her down, she was NOT having it)
We move into Three Stars (or, Concerning the UFO Sighting near Highland, Illinois.) which is Henry being haunted of the thought of Shelby, Carl, and Douglas. They had taken over and absorb his mind so much that the thought of them scares him and just makes him sick. Especially Carl and Shelby I believe. They move around him and he just stands there helplessly and it’s a chilling moment and I don’t remember the rest but I do remember that vaguely.
From there we move onto the Long Hike where each character comes up from the long journey and walks towards either center stage or right stage and just looks around in pure amazement at the journey they just did and eventually take a photo together which was so cute to me.
From there we move into Come On! Feel The Illinoise! which I must say WOW. (elijah vocals r crazy can we all agree on that???) This number was a mixture of amazement and silliness. The choreography in it is just WOW and im sure we’ve all seen a clip a couple of times. But there is some silliness!! Once they get camp set up, the dancers in the background walk around and act all silly while meeting other people in the background while Henry doesn’t say much or interact, rather just standing there and looking out. (I had to stifle back a giggle or two watching the dancers though.) There is also moments of Henry being haunted by the thought of Carl, Shelby, and Douglas (this is in my opinion and how I interpreted it.) They have lights held above their head symbolizing the ‘three stars’ (which is also made clear in Henry’s journal that they ARE the Three Stars) and approach him slowly while he just looks at them in this horror because he just can’t stop thinking about them and the thought alone haunts him. And WOW. It was definitely a little crazy
From there we move onto the storytelling bits! I believe it was either Marion, Knox, or Jeanette who picked up the journal first and held it out for the others. I think they tried Henry but he refused immediately. Just shaking his head and they moved on a moment after until eventually Morgan picks the hook up and there we start Jacksonville.
Jacksonville is described by Henry in his journal as ; a shared story about the attempts to understand a lineage, and find the lessons left by those who came before (or ; ancestry is more than DNA, it’s how we see, how we move, and how we talk to god.) He also describes Morgan as a griot & expert debater to which I think fits her PERFECTLY??? We already know a lot about this number and how it looks from their performance on The Late Show. But every-time Cass (Byron) started tapping, the crowd was CHEERING. It definitely got everyone hyped up. And I didn’t see Rachel play her role but I must say Tyrone absolutely KILLED IT!!!!!!! We love our swings 🩵
Next, Jo Daviess takes a turn in telling her story about ZOMBIES!!!! Henry describes her story as ; a shared story about the hood the founding fathers have on American imagination and also describes Jo Daviess as a historian and horror enthusiast. And let me just the say, this number brought me CHILLS. Jeannette absolutely KILLED it in her role and from the running in place from the zombies, fighting them, and I believe even crawling away from them was AMAZING and she displayed it PERFECTLY. I was in SHOCK after the number and was just like HELLOOOOO????!!!!! She did amazing and I just love her even more for it. 🩵 The number is crazy and when I heard Zombies I didn’t really like it as much and preferred Sufjan’s version but after seeing the show, I absolutely LOVE the number.
After Jo finishes her story, she tries to get Henry to tell his story, bending down in front of him and placing a hand on his shoulder, holding the book to him but he refuses just like before and Jo backs down and holds the book out to everyone before eventually Wayne takes it and decides to share his story.
Wayne shares the story of John Wayne Gacy Jr. but Henry described it as ; the damning cycle of exclusim borne of outcasts forced to sympathize with monsters to which ive stated I LOVE because it ties with the song so much. He also describes Wayne as a poet and murder balladeer. I believe Craig Salstein played Wayne and was dressed in a clown costume while Wayne traveled through the stage with the flashlight. They made the story very clear and anyone who knew about John Wayne Gacy knew what was going on. The dancers played families and kids and eventually each dancer was killed and it was definitely chilling! I expected it to be a solo dance and just told through movement from Alejandro (Wayne) but it wasn’t and it was still good I just WISH the number was longer!!! Everything happened really fast and I couldn’t fully absorb it.
Towards the end of the number, Wayne spirals out of control while Henry is present on stage (I believe he was present throughout the entire number or majority of it and was watching the entire thing) and once he sees Wayne start to spiral he is quick to jump into action and starts to calm him down. Becca did amazing with representing the panicked and rapid breathing that comes with panic attacks and then slowly calming down. Everything was just in sync and it was such a heartfelt moment, I wanted to CRY!!!!
Next we move onto Clark who shows his story through the Man of Metropolis which is described by Henry as ; a shared story about a Vulnerable Superman ( or ; the seductive fiction of the individual hero ), again this is another number I won’t get into too much as it was performed on the View and a majority have already seen it. But the number was definitely a crowd favorite. Brandt did amazing with the dancing and getting everyone hyped up. Each time the picnic blanket was brought out to represent the cape, everyone was laughing and when he threw his shirt out into the crowd, everyone was literally LAUGHING and CHEERING. It was AMAZING and such a beautiful number!!!!
Clark finishes his story and eventually turns to Henry and gets him to share his story and I think only Clark could have done this. They interact a lot on stage and it seems like Henry was really comfortable around Clark and definitely considered him a friend.
Act 2 starts here which is all about Henry’s story.
We start with Decatur which introduces a younger and more energetic Henry with his best friend and love, Carl. They did amazing with representing the friendship which also was most likely easy and fun for them to do considering Gaby, Ben, and Ricky are all close friends in real life. It starts with just Henry and Carl playing around. Skipping rocks across the lake, balancing on logs, looking up at the stars, and just playing around and having fun!
Eventually, Shelby comes onto stage and immediately Carl is drawn to her. It’s clear they like each other as they flirt on stage and the believe kiss once or twice or a couple of times. Very sweet moments while Henry just watches and tries to be supportive but definitely has a hint of jealousy and loss. I know and remember a moment where Henry and Carl are resting for a moment and Carl gets a little close to Henry, leaning in and it was LIKE they were going to kiss before Carl just moves away which I don’t know if it was because Shelby came on stage or because he was just teasing and messing with Henry.
My personal belief of what goes on between Henry and Carl and why they never got together or could’ve worked is because :
1). Henry stated in his journal he was always afraid to tell Carl about his feelings from him. Scared he’d freak out on him or throw fists.
2). Some people have said there could be religious trauma within the show and have said Carl is bisexual in denial and just some of this to which I could see how it works but don’t believe it’s true as much. I think Carl was just never aware of feelings or how he felt with Henry. He might’ve felt something there but never brought it up. He just was unaware of all this and such and didn’t think much into it and just brushed it off. He understood his feelings with Shelby but not with Henry because it was different. I don’t think Carl was ever homophobic or anything. He was just lost and never knew how he felt about Henry.
In Decatur I believe, Carl goes up to the set and spray paints NYC next to Chicago and taps the set. Showing they want to travel from Chicago to New York and Henry lets out this little cheer that was SO SILLY and made everyone laugh. They try to convince Shelby to come with (mainly Carl, Henry stands back and just watches.) Trying to guide her over and talk with her to which eventually Shelby gets tired of and pushes him away before storming off stage. Leaving Carl and Henry alone. Eventually though, we transfer into Chicago.
I’ll try my best to piece up Chicago in my mind from my memory. I believe it started off with Carl holding out the wheel to Henry and they start their journey, driving and talking and being silly as the dancers form a car with props and have these lights to represent headlights and everything. It was SO COOL. There is so many sweet moments throughout the number and represents more of their friendship and it’s just BEAUTIFUL. I absolutely love it. It was a great number. On the Instagram there is a clip of Chicago and that’s the main repeated Choreo that happened throughout Chicago.
Eventually, I believe they arrive in New York. This is where we meet Douglas, an artist who was trying to sell some of his art on the street. He starts to place it back in his bag while talking before him and Henry bump into each other. The art falls and scatters everywhere to the floor and Henry is quick to start helping him pick up the art. They touch hands I believe and I think it was right then and there Douglas fell in love. I’m unsure with Henry and I think he sensed the love coming from Douglas and decided to just take it and try it out. I don’t think he fell in love with Douglas right away, no, but I will explain this eventually.
Meanwhile, while Henry and Douglas are interacting, the focus shifts to Carl who gets a phone call from either Shelby or the hospital and is told about Shelby’s diagnosis with cancer. Immediately, Carl wants to go home. He needs to go home. He needs to see the love of his life and help her. She needs him. He quickly goes to Henry and tells him they need to leave and starts the car. Holding his hand out to Henry. Henry stands there for a moment before walking over to the set and pointing where New York is spray painted and stomps his foot on the ground too. He wants to finish the trip. He wants to finish what he started. What they started. But Carl doesn’t side with that. He offers one more time I believe but Henry refuses again, being stubborn and I do think he probably later on regrets this.
Carl starts the car and drives away, heading back to Illinois.
We transfer into to the Workers of the Rock River Valley Region, I Have An Idea Concerning Your Predicament. This is Shelby I believe after getting her diagnosis. Being unhooked from wires while doctors and maybe her mother or father comforting her while she gets up and just has this hopeless sense like she’s already given up. Eventually she sits down in a chair and that’s when Carl comes in and we got into Casmir Pulaski Day and immediately when I heard the switch. I started to cry because that song makes me SO emotional it ruins me.
Throughout Casmir Pulsaki Day, it shows Carl’s support for Shelby. Being there with her every step of the way and desperately trying to keep her going while Shelby just pushes him away each time and it’s clear she’s already given up. She’s accepted that she has this and she doesn’t think anything can be done. Carl doesn’t give up though. He keeps and keeps trying. Doing everything for his girlfriend, the absolute love of his life. Nothing works though and eventually, Shelby passes. There’s this moment and I think when Shelby was dying, she didn’t realize she wanted to give up. No, she wanted to keep fighting but she couldn’t now. She’s torn away from Carl and once she passes, Carl spirals completely. People try to help him but ultimately he pushes them away. He doesn’t want help. He wants his girlfriend. He wants his love back but she’s gone and he can’t get her back.
We go into Prairie Fire That Wanders About and im not 100% sure what happened but I know it was something to with Carl, either driving to Seers Tower or something. I’m not 100% sure.
We go into Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out To Get Us! which is a duet between Douglas and Henry and really shows the love they have for each other. Douglas is gentle and sweet with Henry. He’s what Henry needs and wants and I believe Henry started to fall in love with Douglas. Whether it was him or the idea of him, he started to realize he loved some part of him. And he feels guilty at times because he doesn’t know if he’s taking advantage of Douglas love or not. Is he what he wants? He doesn’t know but with Douglas. He feels content and safe. He loves him. The duet shared between them is beautiful and I absolutely bawled like a baby. But diving more into the number.
I remember it starts with the two sleeping before Henry eventually wakes up, grabs his journal and starts writing while Douglas wakes up and stops him. Then the dance carries on from there. And eventually Douglas heads back to sleep. I believe (I could be wrong) either Henry sees Carl or he calls him and says some sort of goodbye message and it panics Henry and he starts having this panic attack. And Ricky does so well with representing the movement through dance and I was just wow. It was crazy. Douglas wakes up and quickly rushes over to Henry. Calming him down and breathing with him, comforting him sweetly just like Henry had done for Wayne earlier in the show. He learned through Douglas. Douglas has helped him so much and has never once given up on Henry and I love him so much for it. It’s a clear message that despite the struggles someone has, we can still love them and help them through it. Don’t give up on them. Be there for them and love them through and through.
Eventually, Seers Tower comes along and starts with a dancer I believe to be Alejandro first leading and coaxing Carl up to the top of Seers Tower. Luring him in before dropping which caused a gasp from the audience. More and more dancers come, each luring him in before eventually dropping. Carl just watches. Debating. Is this what he should do? Is this his fate? Will he finally see his love if he does this? And eventually, he jumps off. Henry comes into stage right after and stands there in horror. His best friend just did that right in front of him. Then, we go back to the beginning of the show.
We go through a Conjunction of Drones, again which shows Henry leaving and the Hike all over again.
We then go into Act 3 which starts with Chicago (Reprise) which I took as Henry explaining the story to his friends and I believe eventually they all gather around and comfort him because they realize this story is real and how tragic it is. It’s a heartfelt moment.
Eventually, we shift into a more happy setting. Douglas comes on stage and once Henry sees him, he seems different. He’s happy. I think that’s when then and there, Henry realized how much he loved Douglas. Not the idea of him or the thought of him, he just loved Douglas. As a person, as his lover. He loved him.
We go into The Tallest Man, the Broadest Shoulders which is a silly and playful number and I don’t fully remember much but it IS a fun number and kinda that stress reliever!!!
We go into the Epilogue which is just the dancers moving around and dancing on stage with the lights from my memory and that is truly all I remember.
HOPE YOU WNJOTED MY YAP SESSION AND AGAIN ONCE I HAVE THW BOOTLEG, ILL DIVE INTO MORE BUT!!!!
Hi. I was wondering if you would be willing to write something for me?
I was thinking a sub!Klaus where Mikael shows back up in their lives and the siblings have to all kill him and once they do Klaus kind of falls into his headspace because it was all so much on him and he was scared and worried for his Mommy. He does it right there in front of his siblings for the first time, he’s just really clingy and babyish and needy? I think it would be adorable!
Tumblr media
Don’t be sorry
“Y/n?” Elijah’s voice came from my phone as I sat up and turned my lamp on
“Elijah? Is everything alright?” I asked while getting up and out of my bed
“I know it’s late and I’m sorry if I woke you but it’s Niklaus” he began and I frowned
“Is he okay? Did something happen?” I questioned quickly now fully awake
“Our father was in town, he’s gone now, we killed him but it seems to have taken it’s toll on Niklaus. I believe he may need you” he explains and I quickly pull a sports bra on, throw a t-shirt over the top and pulled a pair of joggers up my legs
“Is he with you? Can you put him on the phone?” I asked hurriedly while shoving my sock clad feet into my trainers and rubbing down the stairs with my phone in hand
“He’s with Rebekah at the moment, she’s trying to calm him down but….” He trailed off and I knew he had slipped
“Just tell him I’m on my way, I wont even be 5 minutes Elijah, just don’t let him leave” I directed before hanging up and throwing myself into my car and speeding to the abattoir.
The second I arrived I was on my feet and shoving the door open, nearly tripping up the stairs before pushing his door open.
Rebekah looked almost as distraught as Klaus himself as she rubbed his back and looked to a panic filled Elijah.
Nik was curled up into himself, his knees to his chest and his face in his arms as he let sob after sob shake through his body.
The second Elijah saw me he was pulling Rebekah away for me to get to him.
I pulled him tight against me and my fingers went straight to his hair “Niklaus” I whispered “can you look at me puppy?” I asked gently, my hand helping to lift his head up to turn to me. Tears stained his cheeks and his eyes raised to mine while his lips formed a pout. “Hi baby” I cooed as my hands came up to cup his face “how about we get up off the floor a moment?” I suggested with the tilt of my head
“Im sorry” he whispered with a sniff making me shake my head
“Whatever for? You have done nothing wrong, nothing” I told him. His eyes glanced behind me to his siblings and I stroked his cheek with my thumb, “they’re not upset with you Nik, they just want to help. Everyone here loves you, no more death” I murmur kissing his cheek
“He’s gonna come back” he whimpered while leaning against me, his head tucking under my chin
“I promise you he will not come back. He’s never gonna hurt you again, you’re safe now baby, you’re going to be just fine.” I promised but his head shook
“He always comes back” tears hit my collarbone as he spoke and my arms went around him
“Next time I’m gonna be right there with you okay? I’ll keep you safe” I whispered kissing the top of his head
“No” he whimpered “no he’ll kill you” he cried “please don’t” he cried as he crawled further onto my lap, his face nuzzling up into the crook of my neck
“He wouldn’t dare” I mumble “He would never hurt me, he knows I would drag his ass straight to the fiery pits of hell” I half joked making him let out a breath against my shoulder and clung to me tighter. “He’s never gonna lay a hand on you ever again, I promise you” I whispered.
I kissed his temple and turned my head to Elijah “can you come lift him for me?” I asked and he quickly made his way over, we got him onto his bed and back in my lap. I stroked his head as my other hand unclipped my bra and pulled it off. “Nik, come here” I murmured to him lifting my top. He complied and went underneath, his lips finding my breast quickly. “Good boy, we’re all so proud of how strong you were today” I praised as he began to suck at my nipple. “You’re my angel” I whispered and he whimpered
“I’m sorry” he mumbled again and I scratched at his head lightly
“You shouldn’t be sorry, you were perfect” I reminded “you saved your family”
I looked to Elijah and Rebekah as they approached and sat on the end of the bed “We love you Niklaus” Rebekah told him quietly
His hands held onto my torso as he nuzzled my chest
“He’ll feel better in the morning” I whispered to them and they both nodded before slowly leaving the room. I rubbed his back leisurely and hummed a tune as his lashes fluttered against my skin. “I love you puppy” I muttered brushing my fingers through his curls
“I love you mommy” he whispered and I let out a soft sigh and gave him a little squeeze of my arms around him
“I love you too” I breathed
“Please don’t leave me” he whispered and I frowned
“Never”
I have been violently gripped with the idea of a CODxAC Crossover, where Ghost and the 141 stumbling across an Isu facility. They spread out to search the ruins and Ghost ends up in a vast open room containing pods. There are hundreds of them in neat rows, but only one seem to contain something. Infant twins bearing the numbers 16 and 17 on their right and left shoulder respectively. On the side of the pod there is some text carved into the metal itself. '16=Clay 17=Desmond. TRUST ONLY 141'. Reading it gives Ghost a deep chill. Before he can think further on it, the pod starts to empty and open. The kids open their eyes and stare at him with eyes he swears glow, but in a blink it's gone. Must have been his imagination. The place suddenly rumbles and his radio comes to life.
"Ghost, get out of there! Think we might have activated a self destruct sequence!"
Before he can think too hard about it, Ghost grabs the kids and starts running while chunks of the ceiling falls down around him. Strangely enough the kids don't make any noise at the rough treatment or the violent shaking and noise.
---------
So yeah, thanks to Saberamane, i have gotten into reading CoD fanfics. XD I remembered your fic on it and then i was just violently gripped with the image of a baby Desmond reaching his little hands up at Ghost and when he holds Desmond up to his face, the baby just places his hands on the mask and stares at it while smiling. Anytime anyone, besides 141, tries to take Desmond or Clay they start to fuss and/or scream bloody murder, so the gangs kinda stuck baby sitting. Well, more like Ghost with Soap's help. Price is busy trying to figure out why the General(idk enough about the lore, so unnamed General it is XD) is really interested in taking the kids. They lied about them being found inside the pods and said they found the dead body of a woman with the kids, so the interest in them is strange. Plus the ominous message written in the pod seems important. Ghost hates him, gets a strange sense of... Red??? from him.
So yeah, another hyperfixation it is. XD
If this is the reboot, he started as Lieutenant General and ends up as a General. In the OG though, Shepherd was Lieutenant General until his death.
We can set it up that Desmond and Clay are testtube babies Elijah created but Abstergo was hot on his tail so he ‘tipped off’ 141 of the location and lying of its connection to a secret terrorist organization.
Well…
It wasn’t necessary a lie because 141 is trying to find the Brotherhood. In the eyes of the world, the Brotherhood is a terrorist organization and 141 is tasked with finding their operations and stopping them.
In this one, Shepherd could either be a Templar, an ally of the Templar or (use the setup of The Shadow’s Endgame) a disillusioned Assassin gone rogue.
He doesn’t immediately clocked the babies Ghost took in as Desmond and Clay. Hell, Ghost knows well enough not to officially call them Desmond and Clay, instead going nicknames like ‘D’ and ‘C’. Soap and Gaz had been calling them different names to try and find out their actual names and they haven’t hit any jackpot yet.
Shepherd is interested in taking in the kids because he learned that the facility they attacked (which was nearby the supposed village that got wiped out during the operation) was Elijah’s secret lab.
Although they all believe Elijah to be dead so the place is actually for an unknown ‘third party’.
Abstergo believed that person is the current Sage, having awakened Aita’s memories after Elijah’s death.
So the question becomes why did Elijah decide to entrust Desmond and Clay to 141?
Because he was planning to infiltrate 141 later on.
As the new recruit of 141: Gary "Roach" Sanderson
Little Witch (Pt 2/5)
Tumblr media
Klaus Mikaelson x Reader
You begin trying to piece memories of what happened to you and Elijah together. Will it be enough to make Klaus believe the two of you did not betray his trust
The day had long since given way to night, letting shadows creep over the buildings and alleyways as you walked the streets of New Orleans. You'd gotten a hotel room but couldn't sit inside the four walls attempting to push against the heavy barrier within your mind blocking you from remembering just what exactly happened between you and Elijah.
You couldn't go back to the compound so you'd been forced to buy a few changes of clothes. Once you'd gotten the room you'd showered three times and threw away all the clothes you'd been wearing. You felt dirty, something had happened. You knew it to your very being that nothing on earth would have driven you and Elijah to hurt the very people that meant the most to you both.
You needed help but was unsure where to turn. Davina was with Kol, she may very well turn you away. Freya was a laughable option even if she'd been on the same continent. It had been years since you felt so damn alone.
You hadn't realized how blindly you'd been wandering until you slammed into a hard chest. Arms caught you before you could fall and only then did you realize it was Marcel. “I haven't seen you in ages without Klaus attached to your hip” he teased with a smile. Maybe Rebekah didn't know yet? Or maybe she'd kept it from him?
You forced a smile onto your face “He's at home with Hope. I was just out doing some shopping” his eyebrows furrowed together in disbelief “Alone? Normally Rebekah or Hayley would be with you” you shrugged “Maybe I'm shopping for them” he seemed to either buy it or chose to let it go. He nodded and squeezed your shoulder closest to him gently “Well do us all a favor and pay a little better attention. I'd hate to see something happen to you beyond the fact that New Orleans may not survive his wrath if something happened to Klaus’ little witch”
You promised him to be more intune with your surroundings before walking away. You took a breath, uncurling that string inside of you that held the spark of your magic just below the surface. You needed to calm down. You let it seep out just enough to make you aware should a threat be nearby but even then it felt heavier than usual. Like it took effort to touch the spark when it should've been as natural as breathing.
Maybe you just needed some sleep? You decided to head back to the hotel.
Tumblr media
After a sleepless night you were up early the following day. Another round of showers and you'd changed into fresh clothes. You needed to chase down answers even if you were alone in it.
You were just heading to the door when a knock on it pulled your attention. You slowly walked across to it, as your hand hit the knob you heard Rebekah's voice “Just open the bloody door. We need to talk”
Great, was she simply going to snap your neck to save one brother from daggering the other or worse? You opened the door, feeling every muscle inside of you tense. She let her eyes track over you then shook her head “Calm down and tone down your magic. I'm truly just here to talk”
You stepped back and let her into the room before you closed the door then turned to lean against it “Rebekah you've got to know I love Klaus” she nodded before a smile slipped onto her face “No one knows why exactly but yes the love you have for my brother is clear. I just want to know what happened. Klaus is raging, Hayley won't look at Elijah and he's not exactly being chatty either. I've caught the basics but I'm still confused. You have never been more than friends with Elijah, how the hell did you two wind up in bed with each other?”
You shrugged, feeling yourself deflate “I have no idea. The last thing I remember was the two of us walking out of an antique shop. I'd gotten the owner to track down something for me. The next thing I know I hear Klaus calling my name and it was like his voice broke through a dark wall around me. When it burst Elijah was on top of me looking just as confused as I felt”
That barrier inside your head seemed to double in weight when you once again tried to remember what happened. “Sounds like someone messed with your heads. I mean I'm not well versed in magic but it's almost as if you were compelled but your magic prevents that and Elijah is an original. No one could compel him”
You met her eyes with a small smile “Do you believe me?” She nodded “Of course. I've questioned the why of you loving my brother not the fact of it. If you need help I'm here” you nodded slowly feeling a tiny bit lighter than moments before just to be believed “Do you think Hayley will talk to me?”
She shook her head “No but I could get Elijah to meet me at one of Marcel's places. Neutral ground. The two of you can compare memories and see where that takes you” you felt a flicker of your magic swirl up without you calling it. It slammed violently against that barrier in your head blocking your memories from you. Your magic demanded answers as much as you did. “I can't thank you enough” she waved her hand “Please don't take this personally but me intervening is selfish on my part. I can't stand dealing with Klaus’ tantrum for long”
Tumblr media
You walked into the bar Marcel had secured for this meeting and froze when you saw Rebekah sitting at the bar drinking a glass of wine while it appeared the glass in Elijah's hand was barely withstanding the pressure from his fingertips while he stood on her other side.
They both glanced up at your arrival but you noticed how quickly Elijah dropped his gaze. Rebekah plucked another glass from behind the bar and poured it halfway with wine and slid it towards you. You sat next to her and stared down into the glass. After a moment she sighed heavily “I'm moving now to give you two the illusion of privacy to talk”
She stood and walked across the bar to a table. You took a sip of the wine before Elijah spoke your name gently. You turned to look at him as he said “I apologize for whatever happened”
Did he think you blamed him? Whatever occurred you were both victims of it. “I don't blame you, hell I truly don't think either of us was to blame” he tilted his head to signal you to go on with the explanation so you explained how it felt inside your head trying to remember and even told him how sluggish your magic was being. He listened intently then nodded “If what you're thinking is correct what is the reasoning?”
You shrugged “I'm not sure yet but I feel like maybe you were used as a weapon to hurt Klaus. He loves you, no matter what's happened between you two you are his big brother. I was being challenged by a lot of witches for taking the side of your family in the fight when Hayley was pregnant before Klaus invited me to move in. I can protect myself but the original hybrid saying I was his? That sent a message. I thought I'd killed all of my old coven but if someone survived this could be revenge. Rip me away from the man I love, the family that claimed me. The safety of having reinforces to back me up should it come to a fight. I took on the strongest spell they had and I'm still standing. They couldn't take me down as a witch so now they're aiming to take me down as a woman. Make heartbreak heavy on my mind so I don't see it coming”
Elijah was quiet for a moment and you could see him thinking of what you'd said then he nodded “They used me to hurt you, to hurt Niklaus. When you find them you have my word you won't be alone to face them”
You smiled slightly “Thank you Elijah and I hope this doesn't affect our friendship because you mean a lot to me” He finally gave you a small smile “It won't simply because we won't let it. I'll get Rebekah to help me speak to Hayley. Perhaps she'll see logic but as for Niklaus..” you cut him off by saying “I'll talk to him”
You started to stand up but Elijah caught your arm and when he met his eyes once again he gave you a gentle smile before slipping a dagger into your hand. “I know you love him and I want to trust in the love I know he still has for you but he is angry”
“I can't dagger Klaus” you whispered and Rebekah spoke up “The dagger is reversible but if he kills you in a fit of rage to discover later that all of this wasn't yours or Elijah's fault the guilt will never leave him”
Tumblr media
The dagger felt heavy where it laid in the inner pocket of your jacket as you walked into the Mikaelson compound. Klaus didn't know you were coming, Rebekah had called him with the pretense that she thought he'd killed a couple wolves and he'd told her he was at home.
You knew this could possibly be a death sentence but something wasn't right. Both yours and Elijah's memories were spotty at best. The last thing sticking out to both of you was walking out of that antique store but hours passed between then and the moment Klaus and Hayley found you two together. What exactly had gone down in that time frame?
You froze the moment you felt him. "Klaus" you turned to see him standing not far from you leaning against the very doorway you'd just crossed through into the sitting room "I told you to not come back here or have you come to ensure I don't kill your lover?" You felt a surge of anger at his words. You loved him as did Elijah, neither of you would've hurt him or Hayley intentionally. "I've come to talk to you Klaus”
He took a step towards you and it took everything for you to not step back. You could sense the anger and betrayal rolling off of him in waves. "About what exactly, love? About how I trusted you despite you being a witch? About how Hayley trusted you? About how our daughter keeps asking for you and neither of us can give her an answer as to where you are? About how it felt to find the woman I love, MY little witch, spread out beneath my brother?”
So many emotions hit you at once. The love you had for the man in front of you, the indignation at knowing someone managed to get in yours and Elijah's head, the worry about if something else had occurred between the two of you, the guilt at knowing you'd hurt Klaus and Hayley and now the added guilt of Hope asking for you and not being able to go to her.
“Yes, if that's what it takes for you to talk to me then by all means yes” you could see the surprise in his eyes at you answering like that even if he'd swallowed the emotion the moment he felt it. He took another step forward causing you to unintentionally take a step back.
A flicker of a smile passed his face “What's wrong love? Scared of me now?” Despite his calm demeanor you could see the anger rolling off him. Betrayal and pain stained his aura as he spoke. “I don't want you to do anything that you'll regret later” he laughed and took another step forward and it wasn't until your back hit the wall that you realized he'd done it on purpose. He wanted you pinned between him and the hard wall.
He braced his palms on either side of your head before leaning down where you could feel the warmth of his breath on your ear. Your mind was working to remind you of the bigger picture at hand but damn your body it was reacting to Klaus’ close proximity. A whimper all but tumbled from your mouth when you left the warm flick of his tongue over your pulse “You're breathing hard and your heart has sped up. What's wrong little witch?”
You swallowed hard trying to find your voice but what he said next reignited that anger in your belly “Or are you wishing I was someone else” you reached down for your magic, using it to aid in the process as you shoved both hands hard against his chest. He backed up but kept a smirk firmly in place. You shook yourself to clear your head, feeling the weight of the dagger against your side.
“I want to talk” he waved a hand “Go ahead then. Tell me how it wasn't what it looked like. How Elijah somehow knew where on your neck you like to be kissed and how you were moaning his name but you somehow say it wasn't leading to you sleeping with him”
You forced the tears down that wanted to spill at his words “We can't remember Klaus. Neither of us have any recollection for about a three hour span. The last memory was us walking out of an antique shop together”
“Such convenient amnesia” he gasped and you had the urge to slap him. You never should've come here without proof. You shook your head “Forget it. You're not wanting to talk rationally or to see logic”
You took a few steps towards the door but the reality of the fact that if you were fighting someone strong enough to get into yours and Elijah's head you may not survive it this time. You paused with your hand on the door then looked back at him. He was frozen where you'd left him but this time he was looking at you at least “Rebekah knows which hotel I'm staying at. When I find who's responsible I'm tearing them apart. If something happens to me… she has a letter for you and one for Hope. Know I love you Niklaus Mikaelson and that I will until I draw my last breath”
When he didn't make a move to come closer you shook your head, feeling tears form in your eyes before walking out.
Yandere!Elijah Mikaelson NSFW Headcanon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A stands for AFFECTION: how would they show affection?
•Elijah worships you
•He would give you, quite literally, anything you could ever want and spends every moment of quality time with you he possibly can, in fact he doesn’t ever leave your side unless absolutely necessary
B stands for BLOODY: how bloody are they willing to get for their object of obsession?
•Elijah, while not as enthusiastic as his younger brothers about getting bloody, it’s not a problem for him
•Elijah will kill anyone he needs to, to keep you safe and happy, even getting into quite a few fights with his brother to protect you when Klaus tries to hurt you
•When you have a conversation with Elijah about past relationships he makes a mental note of all of your ex’s names and the next time he’s forced to leave your side for whatever reason he begins working his way down the list, killing them one by one in the most painful ways he can think of. You belong to him and he doesn’t want anyone on this planet knowing you in such an intimate way, no one but him, Elijah will not allow anyone to know you more than he does or even close to as much
C stands for CRUELTY: would they ever hurt their object of obsession?
•Causing you pain is not something Elijah would ever want to do, however if you push him too hard it may be inevitable
•The only time he would ever actually hurt you would be if you ever tried to run from him. His hand wrapped around your throat, pinning you to the wall would be the first time he ever truly hurt you
D stands for DARLING: would they cross their object of obsession’s limits?
•Elijah does not cross your limits often
•He would never force you to do anything you don’t want to do. The only thing that makes you uncomfortable at first is how often he insists on holding you. He loves to hold your hand whenever possible or hug you to his chest when you watch movies or read a book or literally anything else
•He also enjoys giving you massages which you were uncomfortable with at first but you warmed up to it very quickly, his hands are very strong and he is great at working knots out of your sore muscles
E stands for EXPOSED: how much do they expose their own feelings to their object of obsession?
•Elijah is a very guarded person, after so long of taking care of everyone else it takes him time to get comfortable talking about himself but he opens up to you fairly quickly
F stands for FIGHT: how would they react to their object of obsession fighting back?
•He understands your want to fight back, and he’s quite understanding about how much you wish to go home however he will quickly shut you down
•You learn very quickly to just do as Elijah says
G stands for GAME: do they think this is just a game?
•This is not a game to Elijah at all
•You are his everything and he does Not play games when it comes to you, not with anyone
H stands for HELL: what would be their object of obsession’s worst experience with them?
•Your worst experience was probably the time you tried to run away. You got out of the house and all the way into town before he found you trying to steal a car
•You found yourself pinned to the car by your throat, his hand cutting off your ability to breathe and you felt the pain in the back of your head from where it collided with the metal of the old car, it was the first time you were afraid for your life in his presence
I stands for IDEAL: what are their plans for their object of obsession?
•Elijah plans to keep you for the rest of eternity
•He will change you into a vampire and never again spend another day alone as he has for so long
J stands for JEALOUSY: how they react when jealous? Do they get jealous?
•He never shows his jealousy to you, you have never seen Elijah in such a way and can never imagine him any kind of jealous of anyone
•He does get jealous however and he would never let you see it but as soon as you’re not there to see it he will slaughter any man who believes he has a chance with you
•Whether a man is touching you, flirting with you or just staring at you, if Elijah notices, he’s dead, and Elijah notices everything
K stands for KINDNESS: how they act around their object of obsession?
•Elijah is very patient with you
•He does understand that you need time to adjust to your new life and he respects that, he does what he can to make you more comfortable
•His kindness will only go so far though
L stands for LOVE LETTER: how would they approach their object of obsession?
•Elijah would definitely interact with you before he kidnapped you
•The first time you met him he ‘accidentally’ bumped into you and he bought you a new coffee after he spilled it
•The Original tried to suppress the need to take you but he wasn’t able to after watching a man take you on a date and take you completely for granted
M stands for MASK: how different are their public persona from their true selves?
•Elijah is a fairly genuine person, what you see is what you get
•He’s a gentleman in and outside of the house and the only real difference is how completely obsessed he is with you
•He was very good at covering up his obsession, you never would have guessed how he really felt for you when you sat and had coffee with him and you actually really liked talking to him which is why you had said ‘yes’ to a date in the first place
N stands for NAUGHTY: how would they punish their object of obsession?
•Elijah never wants to cause you harm, he loves you too much, seeing marks on your skin and knowing he put them there would make him sick to his stomach
•The only time he would physically harm you is when you try to run, his hand around your throat cutting off your oxygen is the first real time you’re actually afraid of him, you fear the man that kidnapped you, sure, but you hadn’t really feared for your life before that day
O stands for OPPRESSION: how many rights would they take from their object of obsession?
•You don’t have the ability to leave the house but you mostly have free range in the home unless you try and run
•He wants you to be comfortable in your new home and enjoy your time with him, you can do whatever you want as long as you don’t leave the house or try and communicate with anyone outside
P stands for PATIENCE: how patient are they with their object of obsession?
•Elijah would be the most patient of all the Mikaelsons, he knows he’s uprooted your life but he also knows if he gives you time then you’ll come around and give him a chance
Q stands for QUIT: if their object of obsession died or escaped, would they ever be able to move on?
•Died- He would be a human basket case, he would never move on
•Escaped- You won’t get far at all. He will find you and he will bring you home, and you trying to run from him is the only real way to make him angry
R stands for REGRET: would they ever regret harming their object of obsession? Would they ever let them go?
•Elijah does feel bad about harming you when he makes the mistake
•He would storm out after hurting you and when he cools down and comes back he heals you immediately. He can’t stand seeing marks on your flesh that he created.
S stands for STIGMA: what made their yandere tendencies bloom?
•Elijah was obsessed from the moment he first saw you
•You had spoken on several occasions and he even took you out for coffee but his Yandere impulses exploded when he saw you out to dinner with a guy only a day after you had gotten coffee with him and the man, in Elijah’s opinion, was not treating you right
T stands for TEARS: how would they react to their object of obsession crying/breaking?
•Elijah doesn’t want to see you sad and if you cry he will be there to hold you
•He would snuggle you against his chest and let you get it all out, if you need to cry then you need to cry but he will be there for you no matter what
•He loves you on your good days and bad days just like he hopes you will be for him when you get more comfortable being with him
U stands for UNIQUE: something different they would do compared to others yanderes.
•Elijah’s patience is probably the biggest difference, he doesn’t rush you in admitting your love for him
V stands for VICE: what weakness their object of obsession could use against them?
•Elijah is very trusting of you which makes it easier to escape but actually manipulating the suited Original is nearly impossible
W stands for WIT’S END: would they hurt their object of obsession?
•Elijah would never truly hurt you, however he has choked you
•The only other way he might hurt you is biting you, though odds are that would be more pleasurable than painful
X stands for XOANON: would they worship their object of obsession?
•Elijah already treats you like his angel
•However once you completely embrace being his girl he will go all out! He will worship the ground you walk on. You’ll be getting gifts left and right, and hearing everyday, multiple times a day how much your vampire loves you!
•You won’t live another day on this planet not being told how loved you are
Y stands for YEARN: how long would they pine after their object of obsession before they snap?
•Elijah would watch you for about a month before he finally snapped seeing you on that date
Z stands for ZENITH: would they ever break their object of obsession?
•You will eventually give into him
•Elijah will wear you down and after he shows you what kind of life you will have being with him, you can’t exactly say you don’t want it
•He spends his time making you feel pretty and happy, you can’t say in the end that you’re unhappy being with the Original vampire
Klaus Mikaelson x Soulmate!Reader x Elijah Mikaelson Pt. 17
Word Count- 4.3k
Warnings-swearing, pain
a/n- idk if i like this one
“Say something please, Theo,” I beg my little brother as he stares emotionlessly at his hands.
When I began telling my brother about how his father wasn’t my father I expected my loud and obnoxious little brother to make snarky comments or even yell at me. But I didn’t realize just how much worse him not saying anything would be.
“What do you want me to say, Y/n? What could I possibly say in this situation,” Theo looks about to me with tears building in his dark eyes and I have to swallow the sob that is building in my throat.
Theo stands up and I mimic his actions. I watch wordlessly as my brother runs a hand roughly through his hair and over his face in exasperation.
“Three months! Really Y/n? You knew this for three months and you didn’t tell me. Why,” Theo whips around to me and he shakes his head, “I know I’m kind of a dick but I thought you trusted me.”
I quickly shake my hands and try to step closer to him but he instantly backs away. Memories of the night my mother told me this news flash in my mind as I realize Theo is reacting practically the same way I did.
I stop walking, “Theo of course I trust you.”
Theo shakes his head as if he doesn’t believe me, “Then why keep this from me!? Did you think I couldn’t handle it or,” His voice cracks and tears fall down my cheeks, “Did you think I wouldn’t love you the same? Do you really think that low of me?”
I stare at my brother wordlessly and sit back down at the kitchen table. I press my head into my hands and let out a sigh.
“Is that what it is? Did you really think that, what? I’d hate you or something?”
“I don’t know, Theo. Okay. I don’t…I just…I don’t know.”
My answer doesn’t seem to be enough for my brother because he lets out a sound of annoyance.
“Fine. If you don’t have an answer for me then I’ll just leave you alone,” I hear his retreating footsteps and I quickly pick up my head.
“I was scared you’d throw me away just like he did,” My voice comes out shaky and I see Theo stop and his back straighten, “I thought that…if the man that raised me couldn’t love me why should anyone else? I love you, Theo. I just didn’t want to lose you too.”
My blurry vision focuses slightly as I see Theo's figure turn around and make his way over to me. Within a second my brother is grabbing me and pulling me into him.
“You could never lose me, you idiot. I mean, you’re the one who has called me a roach on multiple occasions,” Theo pulls back and his teary eyes meet mine, “I could never hate you either. When Dad left… it wasn’t Mom who stepped up and took his place, it was you. When Mom was always away at work, who was the one who would make sure I got to practice on time, did my homework, and made sure I was always fed? You, Y/n. It was you. When Mom and Dad didn’t want to raise me, you did. I’m who I am because you raised me this way. I owe everything to you.”
I finally let out my sob as I pulled my brother back into me.
“And besides,” My brother pats my head like a dog as he hugs me, “Every Batman needs their Robin,” Theo pulls back and then raises an eyebrow at me, “Just so we’re on the same page, I’m Batman. You Robin.”
I let out a shaky laugh as I nod, “I can live with that.”
—-
3rd Person POV
“Okay, so we all know the plan now,” Damon looks to Elena, Stefan, and Rebekah as they all nod.
“We dagger Mikael to get Klaus into town, and then Mikael kills Klaus,” Elena reminds everyone.
Rebekah frowns deeply at the plan but nods nevertheless.
“Wait, where’s the other half of you,” Damon points to Elena who rolls her eyes.
“Y/n’s with her brother doing some sibling bonding time. And besides I don’t want her involved in this.”
Damon frowns, “Why the hell not?”
“Because whenever Y/N gets involved in supernatural business it gets her hurt. And with Klaus already terrorizing her I don’t want him using her as leverage. Thankfully enough Y/n already said she’s not going to the dance.”
“Fine. Whatever,” Damon huffs as he downs his drink.
“Fine by me,” Stefan says, “Fewer people to screw this up.”
“Ho! Why haven’t you been answering my calls and texts.”
I sigh into my phone as Caroline Forbes bites my head off over the phone, “Hello to you too, Care. How can I help you on this splendid Saturday?”
I hear Caroline yell at some people around her and I laugh to myself.
“Elena’s getting ready with Bonnie’s help, so I thought I’d let you know you and I are getting ready together at your place.”
I freeze up at Caroline’s words and my brother who is glaring at me for pausing the video game we are currently playing raises an eyebrow in question, “Getting ready for what?”
I hear the line go silent for a moment and wonder if the blonde vampire is having a stroke, “The homecoming dance! Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n don’t you dare tell me you’re not going tonight.”
“I’m not going tonight.”
“I’m not accepting that as an answer!”
“Well, I’m sorry Caroline but I’m putting my foot down. I’m not going, Theo and I are sibling bonding.”
“Forget Theo! What about Caroline and Y/n bonding time?!”
I laugh at her dramatics, “We can bond tomorrow.”
“Y/n I can’t-’’
“I think you’re cutting out,” I gesture to Theo and he makes static noises with his mouth, “Oh would you look at that! Well bye! Have a fun time!”
I quickly hang up the phone before my blonde friend can harass me more and I look over to my brother who is laughing his ass off.
“Thanks for the help,” I put my fist up and he bumps it with his own.
“Happy to help. Now can we please play so I can kick your ass,” Theo says as he gestures to his Xbox.
I roll my eyes at him and grab my remote, “The only one getting their ass kicked here is you, dumbass.”
“Ya, whatever you say nerd.”
“You’re going to hate me,” I turn around at my brother’s comment and see him standing in the doorway of the kitchen with a sheepish look.
I put the piece of pizza I’m currently eating down on my plate and let out a deep sigh, “What did you do?”
“Well you know how I’ve been getting Tyler to warm up to me so that he’ll put me on Varisty,” Theo says in a hopeful but also weary tone.
“I recall…”
“Well, Tyler just called me and said he’d talk to the coach and get me that varsity jacket on one condition.”
I look at my brother and narrow my eyes, “What did you do?”
“He kinda told me to make sure you come to the homecoming dance tonight to appease Caroline and I told him you’d go,” Theo quickly spits out his sentence and we stare blankly at each other for a moment.
I grab my pizza again and take a slow bite as Theo stares at me with wide eyes wondering what I’m going to do.
“Looks like you aren’t making varsity,” I simply say as I grab my plate and walk around my brother and towards the living room.
I hear my brother’s footsteps behind me, “Come on Y/n! Please do this for your favorite brother.”
“You’re my only brother,” I respond back blankly.
“I mean technically we don’t really know that,” He says out loud and I turn around and glare at him.
` He raises his hands quickly and mumbles a sorry.
“Please Y/n! You know how hard I’ve been working for this. Just show up and then we can leave after Caroline sees you!’’
“You know most people get their varsity spots because they show good athleticism. Not because they like to sweet talk the captain,” I stop as Theo runs in front of me.
“You know a pretty face like mine can’t work too hard!”
I roll my eyes at his comment and move around him. He doesn’t say anything and for a second I think he’s dropped it.
“I just,” My brother’s shaky voice makes me turn around. And I roll my eyes as I see him wiping a fake tear off his face, “I just really wanted this you know,” His fake sad voice is making a migraine start to form, “After finding out my sister isn’t my father’s child I just needed some good news.”
Well played, Theodore.
“I hate you,” I growl at my brother and his “sad” face instantly brightens.
“So you’ll go?!”
I close my eyes and sigh, “We go in, find Caroline, say hi, and then leave,” I point at him, “Got it?”
Theo practically starts hopping in excitement, “Got it!”
My brother quickly walks past me and I try to fight back a laugh as he starts talking to himself about what color tie he’s going to match to his eyes.
I hear Theo’s door shut and slowly make my way to my room. I throw myself on my bed and then finish my slice of pizza. Eyeing my closet the entire time. What the actual hell am I going to wear?
I stand up and quickly eye the bags upon bags of designer clothing that Alastair had gotten me for my birthday. Ever since I found out about his betrayal I haven’t touched anything he had got for me. I’ve tried to give them back to him on the many occasions in which he just “accidentally” bumps into me. But he always refuses and says they’re mine to keep. Asshole. Scratch that, Rich asshole.
I rummage through the clothes I have in my closet and frown when all I come across are, in Theo’s words, “clothes that not even a dead nerd would be seen in.” I pick up the dress I wore to the tea party in which Elijah threatened Damon but quickly put it back when I realize Theo’s words were right. I do dress like a nerd.
I’m about to throw in the towel and tell Theo to suck it up when something on my top shelf catches my eye. I reach up and grab the clothing box and instantly blush when I remember what’s inside. The dress Caroline bought for me. The very tiny dress Caroline bought for me. I hold the box in my hands and eye it for a moment.
“Am I really going to do this?”
I close my eyes and rip off the ribbon and open the box, “Fuck it.”
“Shit,” Theo swears from his position in the passenger seat of my car.
“What? What happened,” I look over at him worried, as the traffic light in front of us flashes red.
“The gym flooded,” Theo says and I instantly smile.
“So no dance? How sad,” I fake a pout.
I watch Theo’s frown turn into a smirk as he reads another text on his phone, “Nope, My Captain came in clutch.”
“What the hell,” I say out loud as my ears are assaulted by the rock music being played by a live band in Tyler Lockwood’s backyard. A backyard that is somehow beautifully decorated with streaming lights, a dance floor, and filled with hundreds of people. Some who I don’t even look like teenagers.
“This is awesome!”
My brother stands next to me with a beaming smile on his face as he looks at everything like a child on Christmas morning.
“Something feels off,” I tell him and he doesn’t seem to hear me.
Some people pass me and I grow self-conscious of the dress I’m wearing. It’s a beautiful dress but with the hem that ends mid-thigh and the extremely low v-neck that seems to put my chest on full display for anyone who wants to oggle it, it makes me feel highly uncomfortable.
“Let’s just find Caroline and then leave,” I yell to my brother over the loud music and he nods to me.
We start walking through the crowds but a wave of people comes past us and I lose sight of my brother.
“Theo! Theo!”
I try to call out but all I receive is a few looks from people walking past me. I groan when I realize I’m going to have to go find my dumbass brother in this hoard of dumbass people.
I push through the hoards of drunk teenagers and wonder just how the hell no cops have been called and also where the hell is the Mayor? I personally feel like having a bunch of underage teenagers drinking on my property would interfere with any future campaigns.
 I move around a couple as they dance to the end of the song and sigh as everyone around me blocks me in as they clap for the band. I decide to just push past them to get to the front but the sound of a British voice halts me in my tracks.
“Good evening, everyone!”
Oh, you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
I look away from the people around me and up to the stage where the devil himself stands smiling down at everyone.
“I want to thank you all for being here with me to celebrate. It’s been a long time coming,” Klaus addresses the cheering crowd and I feel my heart drop to my ass as his eyes scan the crowd. My shaky breathing is covered by the claps of the crowd.
I watch as Klaus seems to lock eyes with someone in the crowd and it gives me time to really look at the hybrid.
Klaus is the devil. No doubt about it. But I would have to be blind to not think he’s beautiful. The dark suit and the polished hair he’s sporting tonight only seem to make him more heart-wrenchingly stunning.
Fucking Mikaelsons and their God-like gene pool.
I watch wearily as Klaus descends the stage and I hear the band start up again. The people around me start shoving me with their dancing and I let out a painful hiss as one of them jabs my left shoulder with their elbow.
I quickly push through the crowd to the side where a table of cups is set up. I clench my eyes together to try to block out the searing pain in my shoulder.
“Y/n?! What happened?”
I open my eyes when I feel a soft hand grabbing my right shoulder.
“Not you too,” I groan out as my eyes meet Alastair’s.
“Is it your shoulder? Tell me how to help,” I lean away as Alastair comes closer to me trying to help me.
“You can help me by leaving me the fuck alone,” I bite out and watch Alastair watch me for a moment, and then his attention shifts to the table of drinks. I watch cautiously as he leans down to the cooler on the ground and grabs a handful of ice. He then takes out the handkerchief in his suit pocket and wraps the ice in it.
“Here,” He reaches out the ice to me, “Take this it’ll help.”
I shake my head defiantly, “I don’t want anything from you.”
Alastair lets out a low huff and then pushes the ice into my right hand, “Just for once, let someone help you.”
I look at the ice in my hand and then practically growl in annoyance as I softly place it on my scar. A scar that is sadly on clear display, thanks to the tiny straps of my dress.
“See, was that so hard,” Alastair tries to joke but I just glare at him.
“Are you glad your boss is back in town?”
Alastair’s smile instantly drops and he glances over his shoulder momentarily. I follow his eye-line and see Klaus walking with Stefan. As if he heard us talking about him, which he probably did, Klaus turns his head and looks over to Alastair. He stares at him for only a moment before his eyes lock with mine. I inhale deeply as Klaus’ blue eyes devour my own. I feel like I can’t breathe as his eyes move from my face to my shoulder. I watch curiously though as his eyebrows slightly furrow.
He looks cute when he’s confused.
I know I did NOT just think that.
Klaus’ confused look drops when his eyes move from my shoulder to the rest of my body, more exactly, my dress. His eyes narrow for a moment before they seem to lose their brightness and then darken. It’s my turn to be confused as I watch his features turn into ones of anger as his jaw clenches and he practically glares at me. I can’t stand to look at him so I quickly turn back to Alastair who is now drinking a beer.
“Your boss really hates me doesn’t he?”
I quickly step back as Alastair chokes and spits out his beer.
“Dude what the hell?!”
“Sorry,” Alastair coughs out loudly and he quickly wipes his face with his sleeve.
“Your first time drinking or what,” I ask him and he looks up at me and sighs deeply.
“You two stress me out so fucking much.”
I fight back the urge to hit this bitch, “Really! You’re the one stalking me, and yet I stress you out?!”
Alastair stands to his full height and then pinches the bridge of his nose, “You’re blind and he’s stubborn!”
“I’m not blind!”
“Yes, you are!”
“Alright, asshat! Blind about what?!”
Alastair begins to open his mouth.
“Alastair,” A short dark-skinned woman in a black dress yells to him as she approaches us. She glances at me wearily for a moment before looking back to the vampire, “Klaus wants you inside…now.”
I turn and look back over to where Klaus and Stefan were once standing but they’re gone. I look back to Alastair and he gives a bitch face to the girl and then turns back to me.
“I’ll see you later,” Alastair turns around to follow the girl but then stops and looks over his shoulder at me, “You look beautiful by the way.”
“Y/n?”
I whip around and let out a sigh of relief when I see Bonnie standing by a keg holding a red solo cup. My relief is instantly gone though when I see the scared look on her face.
“Bonnie, what’s wrong,” I walk up to her and she quickly grabs my hand. She eyes the icepack that I’m holding to my shoulder for a moment but shakes her head.
“What are you doing here?! You’re supposed to be at home!”
I frown at my friend’s anxious tone, “Theo made me come. Tyler texted him saying Caroline needed me to come so badly.”
Bonnie’s frown somehow deepens even more, “What are you talking about? When did this happen?”
I shake my head, “Uhh, I’m not sure maybe like 2 hours ago.”
Bonnie stares at me for a moment, “Caroline didn’t ask you to come, Y/n.”
“What the hell are you talking about Bonnie? Tyler said she did.”
Bonnie’s worried expression makes my hands start to shake.
“What’s going on Bonnie? You’re starting to freak me out.”
Bonnie walks closer to me and leans in, “Caroline wouldn’t have told Tyler to have you come. I told her 3 hours ago that you needed to stay as far away from here tonight as you possibly could.”
My eyes narrow at Bonnie’s quiet words, “Why Bonnie? What’s going on? Klaus is here I know that. Does it have something to do with him?”
“There’s no time to explain. You said Theo is here as well?”
I nod.
“Where?”
I shake my head, “That’s what I’m trying to find out.”
Bonnie sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. I’m really just stressing everyone out tonight, aren’t I?
“You need to find him and leave, now!”
Before I have a chance to ask any more questions Bonnie quickly leaves and I groan in annoyance.
I’ve been searching for my brother all over this stupid mansion and have come up with nothing. I passed some of his friends who told me Theo was trying to find me so somehow we just keep missing each other.
A cold liquid drips down my chest and I shiver. The culprit is the makeshift ice pack that is now completely melted and dripping down my chest. Fantastic.
I make my way through the living room of the Lockwoods and walk through the hall trying to find the kitchen. As I turn the corner, I let out a huff as I’m knocked into someone.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t-”
Blue eyes narrow into mine.
“Of course, it’s you,” I growl out at the Hybrid.
“Pleasure to see you again as well, Princess,” Klaus’ snarky words make me bite back a growl as we glare at each other.
With a roll of my eyes, I go to move around him but a hand on my arm sends shocks through me. I look down and see Klaus’ hand grabbing my upper arm, Klaus’ who seems to have realized what he just did brings his hand back down to his side quickly.
“What,” I snarl at the man who stands only a few inches away from me. Making it hard not to breathe in his woodsy scent.
Klaus stares at me for a moment as if he’s trying to think of what to say and for a moment I think he’s just going to walk away. Or kill me. He could kill me as well.
“Your shoulder…what happened?”
I’m taken aback, not just by his question, but by his tone. Where I’m usually met with his usual snark, this time he sounds almost, not mean???
“Why? Want to push a finger into my scar to make me hurt some more,” I jab back and the man rolls his eyes.
“You may not believe this but I don’t take pleasure in seeing you in any pain.”
Klaus looks down at me and then at my scar and for a moment I think he might actually mean it.
“I got shot,” I say and look away from him and to my nails, “Not that it’s any of your business.”
I can see Klaus narrow his eyes from my peripheral, “You got shot?”
I turn and deadpan him, “Is that not what I said? Anyway, I’m fine now. Doc says I’m the fastest healer he’s ever seen.”
I don’t know why I told him that last part. But as I stare at the man I feel a bit of confusion when something unreadable flashes in his eyes.
“Is that so?”
I nod to his odd tone. Klaus just eyes me and I try to ignore the weird feeling that builds in my stomach as we stand there watching one another.
“Mister Klaus?”
A low growl leaving Klaus’ mouth startles me. He turns and glares at the short woman who interrupted Alastair and I before.
 “What,” Klaus practically snarls at the woman and I feel bad for her as she starts to shake.
“Someone named Mikael is here to see you,” The girl pretty much whimpers and I let in a deep breath at the mention of the asshole Original.
My eyes go wide in fear as I look at Klaus waiting for his reaction. I expect to see fear on his face, but instead, he almost seems excited.
“Great. Wouldn’t want to leave him waiting then. Would we?”
The woman walks away and Klaus buttons up his suit jacket.
“Mikael’s here?”
My question quickly gains Klaus’ attention as he looks at me oddly.
“Isn’t this what you and your little friends planned?”
At his accusation, I glare at him, “You don’t know this about me Klaus, or actually anything about me, but let me make one thing clear. I will never and have never taken part in helping some abusive asshole. So I don’t know what you think my friends are planning, but I had no part in any of it.”
Klaus’ gaze softens for a moment and changes into an unreadable expression. Certainly, one I’ve never seen on him before. I find myself freezing when he reaches his hand up. I hold in a breath waiting for him to rip off my head for bitching at him but frown when all he does is grab a stray hair of mine and place it behind my ear. His touch lingers on my hair for a moment before he practically jumps away from me.
“I believe you,” He says to me and I raise an eyebrow at him.
“I don’t care if you believe me or not.”
Klaus just lets out a sigh and turns away down the hall. He doesn’t get far because he turns around and his eyes go back to my dress.
“Did I tell you how you look tonight?”
I raise an eyebrow and place a hand on my hip, “I’m excited to hear whatever insult you have for me.”
Klaus just smirks, “Damning. You look damning Y/n Y/l/n.”
I stand there speechless as Klaus gives me one last look before he exits the hallway.
“Nerd! There you are,” Theo jumps into my view, shocking me. He narrows his eyes at me.
“Are you having an allergic reaction?”
I frown and shake my head, “No? Why would you ask that?”
Theo raises his hand and then puts it in my face, “Cause your entire face is like REALLY fucking red.”
My eyes widen and I clear my throat, “I’m fine.’’
Theo thankfully just shrugs his shoulders and smiles, “Great! Let’s blow this popsicle stand.”
It is Kol that sees you first. He is standing in the town square, observing how people are in the twenty-first century, and how much has changed since he’d last been undaggered. He hadn’t really planned on being out that day, but Klaus was getting unruly in the mansion, needing quiet time to paint. Kol wasn’t in the mood to be on the receiving end of his anger again, so he scurried out the door and decided to explore the town.
It’s peaceful and no one bothers him. No siblings, nor vampires, nor townspeople. For once, the inhabitants of Mystic Falls mind their own business.
By nearly three o’clock, he still occupies the square. Klaus was probably over his anger hours ago, but Kol finds he quite likes the scene. Despite enjoying the time away, though, he knows he should go home soon before a sibling catches up to him. One cannot escape the family for too long; that’s the blessing and curse of family. With a sigh, he stands up to leave, sparing one last glance to the park before him.
Thank god for that last look. Had he not taken it, he wouldn’t have noticed you. That would be a missed connection never known, but to secretly haunt him forever.
You, with your gentle smile as you look at the girl to your left. The way your eyes roll at something she says. The way you walk gracefully towards him, though he knows that’s not where you’re headed. Suddenly, something inside him wishes it were. Something fluttering in his chest; something that starts to beg for your attention. He stares at you as if his gaze would somehow attract yours.
“Are you daft? Kol! Hello?!” None of the words register to him. However, the swift hit to the head does.
Kol whips around to see his sister. Her hands open to him in frustration.
“I’ve been calling you for ages, standing right beside you. What are you even looking at?”
“Nothing,” he says, almost stutters.
“Certainly not nothing to have your attention like that.” Rebekah scoffs, then tries to follow his line of sight.
By then, you had dipped into a store. Kol secretly curses his sister for the distraction.
“That bird over there, you were seeing?” There’s a bluebird standing where you just were.
“No.”
“Then whatever in the name of-”
“Just a girl, Bekah. So like I said, nothing.”
“Oh? A girl’s caught your attention?” She snickers, “tell me, is she pretty?”
“Can you bugger off?”
“Why don’t you just answer?”
“Because I-” he stops upon seeing you again. You and Caroline tumble out of the store laughing, clutching onto each other’s shoulders. He listens to the words he sees leave your lips.
“That was so weird,” you mutter.
“People here are so strange sometimes,” Caroline agrees with your statement.
“Because you what?” Rebekah’s voice cuts back in. When Kol doesn’t answer, she follows his gaze again. “Caroline Forbes?”
“No, the girl beside her.”
A tease is prepared on the tip of her tongue, but upon seeing you, it’s gone. The two Mikaelsons are quiet for a moment as they watch you and Caroline continue to laugh.
“My, she is pretty,” the blonde finally admits. “Go talk to her.”
“Do you really think it’s wise for me to go over there with Caroline Forbes right there?”
“Well if you don’t now, you could lose her forever!”
“Or I could lose my life when her blonde friend rips my head from my neck!”
“You never know until you try.”
“I think I have a pretty good idea what will happen if I do that.”
“Caroline won’t kill you because then she’ll lose brownie points with our brother.”
“Fair point, Bekah, but-” He’s interrupted by two ringing phones. Specifically, his and his sister’s. “Bloody hell. Almost went all day without a summoning.”
“Who’s calling you?”
“Klaus.”
“Elijah’s got me. Guess we have to go back now. Wish your pretty girl farewell.”
Kol rolls his eyes at her words. He steals one last glance at you before following his sister to what he hopes isn’t some new brand of chaos.
◇◇◇◇
“So is it true?” You turn to your best friend.
“What?”
“That Klaus has a thing for you?”
She slouches in her next few steps, “really?! Y/N! As if I hadn’t had this conversation so many times.”
“Well, is it?”
“Ugh. I don’t know! I think he does, but trust me, I don’t feel anything for him back!”
“Aw,” you joke, “why not give him a chance? He could be your soulmate for all you know?”
She lets out a sharp laugh, “no way! In fact, Klaus has no soulmate, and do you know why?” She doesn’t give you a chance to answer before saying, “because I don’t think he even has a soul.”
“Caroline!”
“Am I wrong?”
“I- I don’t know, I’ve never met the guy!”
“Well good. Avoid him. He can be charming, I’ll give him that, but it doesn’t take away the fact that he’s a killer.”
“He can’t be that bad. We’ve all killed once or twice.”
“First of all, yes, he is. Second, no, we haven’t. I have. You have not, and that will stay that way.”
“Maybe I have, you don’t know that.”
She snorts, “You’re too sweet for that. And besides, even if you have, you’d tell me right away with your guilty conscience.”
“I do not have a-”
“Keep telling yourself that.”
“Fine, I might. But don’t mistake that for me not having fire, because I can assure you, I do.”
“Oh I know you do. That’s what makes us such good friends. But you need to remember that you’re human, so you still need to be careful.”
“I know, I know!”
“Which includes talking about Klaus, because he could be listening.”
“Sorry,” you try to hide your smirk, “I won’t ask about the big bad vampire again.”
“Good.” Caroline’s not at all convinced that this’ll be your last question about them, but at least it’ll be the last for today.
Ever since the Mikaelsons have arrived in Mystic Falls, you’ve been curious about them. It’s hard enough keeping you out of the Salvatore drama, but that difficulty increased tenfold when the original family came into play. With you and Matt being the only two humans left in the friend group, they’re very protective of you. You, even more-so than Matt. Matt’s met most of them by working at the grill, but the girls do their best to hide your existence from the four siblings. They all swear that if they ever find you, nothing good would happen.
◇◇◇◇
“You two have been out all day, where could you have possibly gone?” Elijah questions as soon as he sees his two youngest siblings enter the mansion.
Kol already has his answer ready, “well seeing as Klaus was about ready to kill us all this morning, I decided it would be in my best interest to get away from him.”
“He’s been steady since one. It’s past three now.”
“Lost track of time, I guess. Tell me, what is it you wanted?”
“Why? Have something to get back to you?”
Rebekah, who had left to fetch a glass of bourbon, replies, “yes, actually. I was quite occupied before you called.”
“You two? Together? Sounds like a recipe for disaster,” the eldest raises his eyebrows. “Hopefully not planning a kill in the square?”
“On the contrary, dear brother. But unfortunately for you, it’s none of your business. So again, what is it for which you called?”
“Ever so fiesty, Rebekah. Worry not, we just wanted to make sure you weren't starting anything."
"What? That's it?"
"What kind of older brother would I be if I don't check up on my younger, more troublesome siblings?"
"You called us both home for that?"
"What’s got you so bitter, sister? Mystic Falls isn't so interesting that you should be so upset."
"Not to you, but this time, we actually did find something interesting, thank you!"
"Oh, do tell, Rebekah," her other brother asks as he fetches his own drink.
"Doesn't matter now that we'll never see her again," Kol mutters, sharing an annoyed look with the blonde.
"Her?"
Rebekah glares, "yes, a girl. But Kol's right, doesn't matter." She swallows down the rest of the liquor in one gulp.
The two eldest brothers are too confused to question further. Kol takes this as a chance to retreat to his room, while Rebekah, after one more look at Elijah, leaves to hers.
"What girl could have stolen the attention of our two siblings so quickly?"
"Doubt there is one at all. They just wanted a reason to get away," Klaus snaps with a tone full of anger.
Elijah detects a hint of jealousy, but says nothing. Nor does he share about his curiosity for this supposed girl that infatuated them both.
◇◇◇◇
Two days later, you’re spotted in the square again, this time, by Elijah himself. At first glance, he makes no connection between you and whomever his siblings saw, but rather takes in the sight of you. You are sitting by the fountain, legs crossed on the cement, and a hand reaching into the water. A stack of books are in front of you, the one on top open, and a notebook to your left. You pay no attention to them, though, and keep your eyes trained on the small waterfall. The sight of a human so seemingly relaxed in such a busy and perilous town has him unable to draw away his attention. He watches you carefully from the square’s metal bench, far enough that you could not catch his eye.
Only a mere five minutes pass before you have company. A girl Elijah recognizes - April Young - touches your shoulder lightly. You turn to her with a smile as she starts to speak. Curiosity kills him, so Elijah tunes in to listen.
“If someone finds you out here, they’re not going to be happy.”
“I don’t care, April, I’m so bored. I can’t be inside all day just because they’re scared I’m going to encounter vampires.”
“Shh! You know they could overhear you, right?”
“It’s fine! They have no reason to hurt me, I’m just minding my own business.”
“They don’t need a reason to hurt anyone, Y/N, they just do. They drink blood, remember?”
“Okay, sure, point taken. But since I apparently have a team of protectors, I should be fine, right?”
“Yeah, but-”
“And, hey, you’re human. Why are you allowed to talk to them? Who’s the girl again? Rebekah?”
“Y/N, be quiet! Yes, I talk to them, but it’s because they found me first and dragged me into all this. And Matt’s been dragged in almost since day one. You haven’t been discovered by them yet, and we all need to keep it that way.”
“So boring! I want to be in on the fun.”
“It’s not fun, Y/N. I’m serious. None of them will be gentle if they find you; they’re all dangerous.”
You sigh, giving up on arguing with the girl.
“You know what they say, ‘curiosity killed the cat’,” April says.
“Okay, but they also say, ‘satisfaction brought it back’,” you finish, eyebrows raised.
April rolls her eyes, “stay out of it. In fact, I’m texting Caroline right now that you left your house if you don’t go back right now.”
“I’m not going back, I’m studying here.”
“Study at home.”
“No.”
Immediately, she starts to dial Caroline. In an instant, you pack your books back into your bag. “See you later, buzzkill.”
The girl hangs up, but doesn’t leave until you do. You know better than to try and win a fight against both of them, so you head home, missing the square already.
Elijah knows he shouldn’t follow you. Caroline could be on her way; April’s in the distance. Yet, he can’t watch you walk away, either. He must at least know your name, or else it might kill him. At the very least, he could compel the conversation out of your mind as soon as he hears it.
He waits until you’re alone to approach. Probably not the best way to do it, but he doesn’t know how many there are keeping you hidden in your supposed “team of protectors”. And this way, it would be easier to compel, should it come to that. So, as you travel down the sidewalk, humming to yourself, he suddenly calls out to you,
“Excuse me, miss.”
You turn quickly towards the voice. Your breath catches in your throat at the sight of the handsome stranger. “Um, hi.”
“I mean you no harm, but I saw you in the square just a little bit ago, and I have to know your name.”
You hesitate, unsure if you should give it.
He continues, “I know this is quite random, but I truly do not wish to frighten you. I saw you by the fountain, unbothered by the world around you. The screams of children, the barking of dogs, but nothing disrupted your focus from the gentle flow of water. I could tell it brought you peace, and I could see the secret you harbored to jump in and enjoy it. It was beautiful, not to mention the beauty that you are, yourself. So, apologies if I am crossing a line, but I can’t help but wonder what name to put on this delicate soul that has imprinted on my own.”
You stare at him, speechless from his words. Never has anyone said such beautiful things to you, and in such an alluring accent, no less.
“My apologies, love. I fear I have said too much.”
“N-no! Forgive me, I’ve just never had a man tell me I’m beautiful before.”
“That is quite a shame. Sure they just have never told you out loud.” He walks closer to you, feeling a bit more confident that you’re not afraid.
A blush rises to your cheeks, but you’re still unable to form a response. “I-I, um… Y/N. My name.”
He repeats your name, tasting it on his tongue. “Lovely name. Lovely name for a lovely girl.”
“Thank you. And what’s yours, may I ask?”
Elijah hesitates. It hurts his heart knowing he’ll have to compel this conversation from your mind, but at least, he can give you his name before he does. “Elijah Mikaelson.”
“You- you’re a Mikaelson?”
“Afraid I am.” He scans your face for fear, which he wholeheartedly expected. However, nothing.
“You’re the first I’ve gotten the pleasure to meet. I’ve been curious, I’ll admit, but my friends tell me to stay away,” you pause, “which you probably found out from my conversation with April a few minutes ago. Oops.”
“It’s alright, love. I won’t tell a soul of your secret.”
“Thanks,” you smile, “I hate being cooped up in the house all day. You were right - I did want to jump in that fountain.”
“You should’ve. I bet the joy on your face would have been unmatched.”
You swallow hard. You’ve never been good at taking compliments. Especially not those given to you by a handsome man who has lived long enough to see thousands of beautiful things. Never would you have expected to be one of those things. “I think I should’ve, too.”
Suddenly, you get a text. In a brief glance, you see it’s Caroline. “Oh crap.”
“Is everything alright?”
You sigh, “it’s Caroline, asking me to send a picture of myself in my kitchen, with an egg in my hand, and a spoon on my head. I guess I have to go.”
“Such an odd request,” he wonders out loud.
“She likes to put me up to things like this to prove I’m at home. It’s something I won’t have in my pictures already, and have to do that instant. If I don’t get it done in five minutes, she comes over.”
“Well I guess I better let you leave, then.”
“Unfortunately, yes. But I liked meeting you, Elijah.”
He smiles, “you too, Miss Y/N.” He steps forward and takes your palm to kiss it. In a deep breath before he starts to compel you, you suddenly interrupt him.
“Wait! I’m way more than five minutes away. Crap! She’s gonna catch me.”
He shouldn’t offer. He shouldn’t know where you live. Yet, the idea of you getting caught out of your house worries him. He may never see you again if that happens. “I could, perhaps, take you home? Could get you there much quicker than if you were to walk.”
“You would do that?”
“I owe you that little, being the reason you might get caught otherwise.”
You blush at the thought of him picking you up, but try to force it away. “If you don’t mind.”
“Of course.” He picks you up bridal style, and before you know it, you’re on your porch.
“Thank you.” You smile, then check your phone. “Oh, shoot! Two minutes left.” You’re quick to unlock your door and throw it open. “Come in and help me find an egg!”
Surely you know the rules about those words pertaining to vampires and one’s home, yet you said them without hesitation. You didn’t stick around for him to question you, either, and instead ran to complete the quest. Slowly, he tests the entryway, and enters with no resistance. He then finds you in your kitchen digging through the fridge, then pulling out an egg. As quickly as you can, you take a selfie and send it to Caroline.
“Whew!” You breathe out, then notice him, “hi.”
“You completed your challenge?”
“Hopefully! But she might still come by because it was April that called her.”
“So I should probably leave.”
You bite your lip, not wanting him to go.
“Y/N?”
“Hm?”
“Why did you invite me inside?”
“Because I needed you to find an egg. Which I found myself, so thanks,” you joke.
He smiles, but only for a second, “I’m serious.”
“I don’t know, I trust you.”
“Why? I’m a Mikaelson. The very family that your friends told you to avoid.”
“Well maybe I don’t like being told what to do. And maybe you don’t seem so bad to me.”
“I would like to prove your feelings right. I wish I could.” He says truthfully, catching your eyes.
You start to look back, but then his words hit you. I wish I could. You straighten, then look away from his gaze. “Don’t compel me.”
“What?”
“Don’t you dare compel me to forget this. I don’t want to forget this. I don’t want to forget you. You, or your smile, or the things you’ve said. Please don’t take it away from me.”
“Y/N-”
“Please.”
He takes a deep breath. It must be done, but he hates it. He doesn’t want you to forget. In fact, he wants to know you deeper. “I have to.”
“No, you don’t. I won’t tell, I promise. If anything, compel me to never forget.”
“Y/N-”
“‘Lijah, don’t.”
The nickname you’ve already given him weakens him. It renders him unable to finish the task; there’s no way he can force himself to compel you now. “Alright.”
“Wait, really?”
“If you’re sure you want to remember, but you’re sure you’ll never tell.”
“I promise. And I won’t say that I invited in a Mikaelson, either.”
He chuckles, “that would be wise.” He kisses your hand again. “I hope to see you again, Y/N.”
“You too. And thanks for taking me home.”
“Of course, love.”
After he leaves, you collapse on your couch, head swirling with thoughts of him. The words he said: how he described your time at the fountain, the beauty he saw in you. His own appearance: kind eyes, small wrinkles under them from a lack of sleep or hundreds of lifetimes lived, or both, a perfectly neat suit, the dark blue ring fitted on his finger. The way he watched you take Caroline’s picture with a smile on the edge of his lips. How he kissed your hand gently as a parting.
Your cheeks are hot with blush, not to mention the heat you feel throughout your body. Butterflies are alive in your stomach. It all makes you feel so silly, but some part of you whispers that it’s love at first sight.
◇◇◇◇
The minute Klaus hears the door open, he’s already yelling, “another sibling spending hours out and about in Mystic Falls. Where in the bloody hell have you been all day, Elijah?”
Elijah enters the room to find Klaus standing beside another painting, while the two other siblings sit on the couch. All three have glasses of bourbon and are sipping carefully. “What’s going on?”
“For once? Nothing. We all just happen to be here.”
“Where have you been, Elijah?” Rebekah turns around in her seat to question him.
Before he can answer, Klaus chuckles, “let me guess! Out with a girl. You only wear that smile when you’ve found a girl to fancy.”
“Niklaus, I have not-”
“Oh don’t try, I’ve known you for a thousand years!”
“Better not be my girl, mate,” Kol mutters, though his tone isn’t rough like Klaus’.
“Your girl is my girl, too, Kol. Remember that.”
“Heaven’s sake, you all are idiots.” Klaus turns back to his work, ignoring the three.
Elijah ignores him right back, and instead looks down to the others. “Describe this girl you saw. Everything you remember.”
So, Kol and Rebekah do. Everything from your appearance, to the sound of your voice, and to the way you walked. The more they described, the more it sounded like the ‘you’ Elijah was with all day. When he admits this, their faces pale.
“There’s no way all three of you idiots have fallen in love with the same girl,” Klaus mutters, still listening despite his annoyance.
“It’s happened before, brother. Remember Mary?”
“I remember, Bekah, but that doesn't mean it’s plausible to happen again.”
“I think it is entirely plausible,” Kol admits, “in fact, I think this goes deeper than it did with Mary.”
“Whatever are you talking about?”
“Something draws me to her. And it’s like I know her, yet I don’t at the same time. Do you guys feel this too, or is it just me?”
“No, I definitely feel it,” Elijah says, “and spending time with her today felt so natural. Like it was something I could never tire of.”
“You three sound so stupid. Talking like this girl, that two of you have never actually met, is your soulmate or something.”
“Well maybe you need to see her, Klaus. You’ll be in love instantly, I promise.”
Klaus rolls his eyes one more time at his youngest brother before going back to his painting. He refuses to admit the curiosity he feels towards you, and instead plays on animosity. His siblings don’t give up, though, and continue talking about their feelings for you until they all part to go to bed.
The following day, Elijah, Kol, and Rebekah actively seek you out in hopes of inviting you to dinner. They spent the morning planning that they’d find you and convince you to come over, where they could all gain your trust and get to know you better. The difficult part of this was getting you alone to talk. Elijah had warned his siblings about what you had said and told them to keep a close eye on their surroundings. He did also mention how excited you were to meet a Mikaelson, though, and said to use this to their advantage if one of them finds you instead of himself.
So, in three different parts of the city, the siblings fan out and keep their eyes peeled for your presence. Shouldn’t be that hard to find; they’ll just follow the pull of their hearts.
◇◇◇◇
For ten minutes, you’re able to sneak away, just long enough to visit your favorite store on the street corner. After meeting Elijah yesterday, the thought of being stuck in your house all day sounds miserable, and you are prepared to risk your friends’ wrath to see him again. Granted, inside the little shop is probably not the place you’d find him, but being out in the open at least makes it seem possible.
You are looking at a row of necklaces when a man comes up beside you. You don’t see his face, yet he doesn’t seem threatening to you, so you’re not too worried.
“That color would look beautiful on you,” he says aloud.
“Me?” You glance around to see if he’s talking to someone else.
“Yes, darling. I mean you.”
You blush instantly. “Thank you.”
“Let me get it for you.”
“Oh, no, I couldn’t. It must be expensive!”
“Not a problem for me. I happen to come from a well-off line.”
“Oh do you now?” You turn to face him fully. “And what line would that be?”
He smiles at you, then plucks the necklace from its place and brings it to the counter. Immediately after buying it, he’s fastening it around your neck. “As expected, you look beautiful.”
“You didn’t have to do that.”
“How could I not? It was made for you.”
“You’re too kind.” You reach your hand out for him to shake, “Y/N L/N.”
Instead of shaking it, he presses a kiss to the back, “Kol Mikaelson.”
He watches your eyes light up, just as Elijah said they would. “Mikaelson?”
“So you’ve heard of me?”
“Heard of you? Definitely.”
“And I heard you met my brother yesterday. God, he would not stop talking about how beautiful you are.”
You blush deeper at the thought of Elijah talking about you to his family. Either that, or it’s because Kol’s still holding your hand gently. You’re not sure.
“Say, Y/N, would it be possible I could invite you to dinner? I would love to get to know you better, and I know Elijah would love to see you again. Bekah, too, has a curiosity.”
“I, um…” you so desperately want to, but fear your friends finding out. “I want to, but I don’t know if I can.”
“If it’s Caroline Forbes you’re worried about, I bet we could fake an alibi.”
“It’s not just Caroline, it’s all of them. But, if we could think of a good enough alibi, I bet I could escape for a little bit.”
“Perfect, I will let my siblings know. This is our address, but if you need one of us to pick you up, my number’s on there, too.” He slips you a piece of paper. “I look forward to seeing you again, darling.”
“I do, too, Kol,” you smile.
With one last kiss to your hand, he disappears from sight.
You show up on the Mikaelsons’ porch at seven in one of your best outfits, playing with your hair nervously after ringing the doorbell. When the door swings open, the girl - Rebekah - is on the other side.
Before you can greet her, she looks you up and down, “wow… you are gorgeous.”
The redness rises back to your cheeks, “thank you.”
“No wonder my brothers are smitten with you.”
“Don’t lie, Rebekah,” Kol’s voice rings through the house, “you know you are too.”
She rolls her eyes, “come inside, dear. We promise we won’t bite.”
You follow her into the house, smiling as you pass the threshold into the mansion. “It’s beautiful in here.”
“Not as beautiful as you, darling.”
You’re starting to pick up on the affectionate nicknames that each gives you. Elijah calls you ‘love’; Kol calls you ‘darling’; and Rebekah just used ‘dear’. It’s one thing that they’ve all called you beautiful, but they all have nicknames for you, too. If they get any more romantic, your heart will flutter right out of your chest.
Just as you think that, they do. Elijah and Kol both kiss your hands as they greet you, making you weak in the knees.
“Thank you for coming, love. I’m glad you could join us.”
“Thank you for inviting me. About that alibi, Kol, I’m gonna need it tomorrow. No doubt I’ll get some kind of spoon-on-head, one-nail-painted-black kind of challenge that I’ll fail, and have to find an excuse for.”
The boy laughs, having been told by Elijah about Caroline’s antics. “We will certainly come up with something. But for now, are you hungry?”
“Yes, actually. And I’m excited to know what you guys eat when you’re not drinking blood,” you joke. The giggle fades out once you see the kitchen table, though. From end to end, it’s covered in dishes. “Holy crap.”
“Only the best for a woman such as yourself,” Kol sends you a wink.
Rebekah pulls a chair out for you. “Stick around, and you’ll find we actually have quite the appetite for more than blood.”
“Oh that was just a joke,” you say, afraid you’ve offended her.
“No worries. I know it was.”
Soon, you’re all seated, except for the head of the table. “Um. Don’t you guys have another brother?”
“Niklaus, yes,” Elijah smiles at you, “he’s painting at the moment, but he should be here shortly. I apologize for his absence.”
“It’s okay! I was just curious.”
Speak of the devil, Klaus enters the room not a minute later. Elijah gestures to you immediately, introducing you. Klaus, still skeptical as to why his siblings are so obsessed with you, has a threat prepared that sits on his tongue. The three wait for it to come out, expecting it, and ready to defend. However, as soon as he looks at you, his mind is wiped of all things foul and offensive.
“Hello, love,” he says instead.
All four of you are caught off guard. The tension in the room was thick; you were expecting an insult, too. Not to mention how Caroline speaks so poorly of the man.
“Hi,” you respond, voice smaller than you’d like, “nice to meet you.”
“You as well.” He sits down with a newfound attitude towards you. “Tell me, how do you like Mystic Falls?”
After you answer his question, the five of you talk for the next two hours, sharing every bit about yourselves. They learn how you’ve lived in Mystic Falls your whole life, and have barely traveled out of the town. You discover they were born in Norway, but were turned in this very town, some thousand years ago. You find common ground in the parents’ department, none of you having the best relationships with your parents, especially your fathers. Though you get a glimpse into the abuse that they all faced from their father, and feel an indescribable rage towards the man you’ve never met. This part of the conversation helps you understand each of them better, including how that fear and anger has made them into one of the most dangerous families - a term they admit describes them well.
“Dangerous,” Rebekah says, “but fiercely protective over those we love.”
“Quite exactly the reason we are so dangerous,” Elijah adds to her statement, “we will do anything to protect whomever we love.”
Hearing the word from their lips makes your body shiver. A thought passes through your head wondering if you’d ever be someone that they’d protect that much. Something deep in your soul tells you that you already are.
After the childhood topic, conversation moves onto lighter subjects. Everyone’s favorite foods, shows, and pastimes are shared. You learn the birth order of the four siblings in front of you, and discover that there’s three others not present. One of them, alive, but so disgusted that they’re vampires that he refuses to associate with them. This, in turn, gets a truth out of you,
“Well you don’t have to worry about me, I think vampires are sexy,” you say before covering your mouth. Too much wine, you suppose. “I mean, I just think they’re cool. There’s a reason the gang tries to keep me in the dark about everything that goes on in the town.”
Eyes go wide, but maybe for the sake of your embarrassed gesture, the topic moves onto the so-called perfect group of miscreants. After, it shifts to your alibi that will be used to explain your disappearance.
“You were bored and went to a restaurant to study. Lost track of time,” Kol tries his best.
“Ran to the store for a much needed grocery trip,” Klaus provides after his brother’s failed idea.
“Or,” Rebekah rolls her eyes, “you just fell asleep.”
“Watching a movie and falling asleep,” Elijah finishes, “so that you have about an hour to be engrossed in the movie, but then you nod off into a deep sleep.”
“I think Caroline would buy that. She always does get after me for not answering immediately.”
“Perfect,” Klaus concedes, “now I would like to know more about what you think makes vampires so sexy,” he says, smirking at you.
You blush for a second, but then can’t help spilling the truths stacked on your tongue.
◇◇◇◇
After that night, you stay in contact with the Mikaelsons, and even visit their mansion for several more dinners. In time, you find yourself getting close with each one. Most nights, Rebekah walks you home, and always kisses your cheek before leaving. Sometimes, too, she’s in your kitchen, making coffee or tea when you wake up. Kol visits you everytime Caroline puts you on “house arrest”, and tries to help you study to the best of his ability. That, or he distracts you completely, begging you to watch a movie with him instead. You almost always give into him. Elijah keeps up his charms of kind words and gentle touches. The moment he learns what your favorite flower is, he brings you one every time he sees you.
Between the siblings, Klaus is the least trusting and the last to give into his desire to know you. Though the more he sees you with the others, the more jealous he becomes, and eventually, he cracks. His first gesture towards you is a painting of you standing in the Mikaelsons’ ballroom. He says he could picture you dancing in it, someday, in a beautiful dress made tailored just for you. After that, he’s now just as smitten as his siblings.
You love being with all of them, separately and together. One thing though - you find your heart being torn in four different ways, and it scares you. You can’t break one of their hearts, nor do you want to, but there’s no way you could be with all of them. Look how that went for Elena and the Salvatores.
Oh, and speaking of Elena… you still haven’t even told your friends that you’re even hanging out with the Mikaelsons, much less that you’re in love with them. You feel bad keeping secrets from them, but you know how they’ll react if they find out. Even if you can prove the family has been nothing but kind, they’ll be overprotective and most likely try to ban you from seeing them entirely.
“Maybe I can just tell one of them,” you wonder out loud one night. Tonight was easy to get out of your house; everyone went to the grill to drink and you played the ‘too tired’ card. Little did they know what you were actually going back to the family’s mansion.
“Who would you start with?” Rebekah asks from behind as she plays with your hair.
“Caroline, maybe? I’m closest to her. But with Elena, I could use the excuse that she’s dating a vampire who’s almost just as dangerous.”
Klaus scoffs playfully, “almost as? Love, he doesn’t come close.”
“Well I know that, but some people think he’s pretty dangerous.”
“Oh he certainly is. But when it comes down to it, my family will always come out on top.”
You remember the conversation from your first night meeting them. How you wondered if you’d ever be one they’d fight to the death to protect. Klaus answers this for you now. “Like we said before, we protect those we love. That includes you, little one.”
Your eyes snap up to him. “Me?”
“Isn’t it obvious? We open our home to you; share our deepest and darkest secrets. We don’t do that with just anyone. There’s something different about you.”
“He’s right,” Kol comes beside you on the couch to sit down, “you’re one of us now.”
Elijah clears his throat, a little worried the two will scare you away, “if you’re comfortable with that, of course. Do not feel pressured in any way. We will not be upset.”
As he’s talking, you reach your hands out for Kol to lean against you. The youngest boy does, putting his head on your shoulder, while you wrap your arms around his neck. “Pressure? No, I don’t feel pressured. I love hanging out with you guys. I love-” you pause, blinking. You’re not sure what to say.
“Y/N?” Elijah starts.
“I’m… I don’t know… I’m confused, and I feel awful for it, but I… I don’t even know what to say.”
“What’s wrong, girlie?” Rebekah kisses the top of your head gently. The boys focus their attention on you fully. “I promise, whatever you say, you don’t have to feel awful.”
“Bekah’s right, you can tell us anything.”
“I just… I love you guys. I love being with you all as a family, but then, I don’t know, I love you all separately, too.” They say nothing, so you continue. “And it’s not just a friendly thing, either. It’s like blushing, butterflies in the stomach, wanting to be with you kind of love. Which would be okay if I fell for only one of you - well, actually, it wouldn’t, because then I’d hurt the rest of you - but it’s not just one. I love all of you like that.”
Elijah’s first to speak. “Why do you think that would be wrong?”
“What?”
“Why is that a bad thing to you?”
You stare at him, “I can’t have a thing with four different siblings. That’s crazy, right?”
You can’t see her face, but Rebekah’s smiling wide. “Are there any rules when it comes to love?”
And before you can answer her, Klaus follows up, “crazy pretty much defines this family, I don’t know what you’re worried about.”
“Hold on,” you put up a finger, even more confused, but now for a different reason. “You are all okay with this?”
“We may have had a talk,” Elijah says, sitting down, “the night after you first came here. You see, we’ve all shared lovers before, so this is nothing new to us. However, usually they rotate. Start with Klaus, move onto Kol, have a fling with Bekah, start something with me, and then they go. But, as you’ve heard us say plenty a time, you’re much different.”
You nod, “so what was the talk?”
“Well, dear Y/N, none of us can quite keep our feelings about you to ourselves. Nor do we ever think we could tire of loving you.” Elijah’s slow and cryptic talk is making you antsy. Apparently, it’s frustrating Kol, too.
“Do you believe in soulmates, darling?”
“Soulmates? Um, ish? I mean, Caroline and I used to entertain the idea as kids.”
“Would it be absolutely crazy to entertain the possibility that you’ve met yours? And perhaps it to be in the form of four siblings to whom you’ve just admitted your love?”
“I-” slowly, it hits you. His words sink into your head and your heart at the same time. A fire burns, heating your palms, reddening your cheeks.
“Because polyamory was a thing with the Ancient Greeks, though it’s not too common anymore. But then again, here you have four siblings who love you just as dearly. In that same ‘butterflies and a warm feeling’ that you described.”
“I, um…”
“If you had let me explain it, you wouldn’t have scared her,” Elijah chides his brother.
“You were taking too long. I’ve been waiting a thousand years to tell this girl I love her.”
Hearing the three words finally broke the dam. Whatever fear you did have melts away instantly. “It’s okay,” you mutter. “It’s clear to me now. I do love you. All of you. As crazy as it sounds, I can’t deny my feelings; I don’t want to. I love you.”
Immediately, Kol spins around so he can kiss you properly. You kiss him back, relaxing into his hands which hold onto your face. As soon as he breaks it off, Rebekah mutters that he needs to move, and then she kisses you, too.
“I just have one question,” you pant, out of breath from the excitement.
“And what is that?”
“How do I know this isn’t going to end terribly, like how Stefan and Elena’s relationship did ever since she fell in love with his brother?”
“Because,” Klaus zips across the room to put less distance between you two, “we all love you and are quite capable of sharing. We’ve lived thousands of years together, and have been looking for you for thousands more.”
“Besides, there’s this cool thing called communication that we do that the Salvatores like to ignore. Take it from someone who’s slept with both,” Rebekah adds.
You crinkle your nose at the information, “no more sleeping with Salvatores.” You pull her back in for another kiss, “you’re mine now.”
When you let go of Bex, Klaus steals his turn, and then Elijah. It’s a little overwhelming, but your worries are overpowered by how much love you feel from them, and by how much you want to give them in return.
After you all settle down, you let out a giggle. “I had nearly given up on the idea of finding my soulmate. Little did I know I’d be so lucky to have four.”
“Not as lucky as us,” Elijah claims the last word, “to have found our girl after thousands of years of searching.”
To be an elder Mikaelson sibling you had to be strong, resilient...patient. You have to be ready for anything, your back mustn't touch the wall lest the foundation crumbles and you are right back where you started. ... Sacrificing anything to provide your family with everything. Anyone.
And that's when the lines get blurred and you start to question if family is even a thing that exists, is there a family at all if you're at each other's throats, a dagger just itching to imbed itself in your poor beloved siblings, but do they deserve it? Had they ever not?
𓆰♡︎𓆪♡︎𓆪𓆰♥︎𓆪𓆰♡︎𓆪𓆰♥︎𓆪𓆰♡︎𓆪𓆰♥︎𓆪𓆰♡︎𓆪𓆰♥︎𓆪𓆰♡︎𓆪𓆰♥︎𓆪𓆰♡︎
Elijah Mikaelson was a very stubborn individual when he needed to be, he had to be if he were to keep his family safe from any and every threat posed to them. To be a Mikaelson was to command respect the second you should enter any room. The quarter was growing more tense by day and there was nothing he wouldn't do to keep his people alive and healthy.
Elijah believed in the principles of familial relationships, they meant everything to him, if he had to lose it all he would do so all in the name of saving his family, he had done so before and he'd do it again.
That didn't mean family was easy, nothing about being a Mikaelson was anywhere near. Being an Original vampire was something that came with a target on your back, especially with so many bridges built and then subsequently burned, bodies left behind, and bloodshed.
Niklaus Mikaelson was a testament to how complicated family ties could be. A product of adultery and lust, condemned to a lifetime of abuse, and far far worse when the truth is exposed his claws begin to lengthen, and the first hybrid is born. Vampire and Werewolf.
The man he thought was his father shuns him, calls him a beast, a bastard, hunts him to the ends of the earth armed with a white oak stake to take his life more times than can be counted in one therapy session. So the hatred and anger...It festers. Brews. Until a beast is truly born, one that takes on his 'father's' traits more and more by the day and still...Elijah has hope for his brother, and in some ways, he envies him, in one very specific sense of the word.
You see, vampires cannot procreate but werewolves, they can and do. Niklaus is a hybrid with a penchant for an affair or two, such is one case with a little wolf so special she held Elijah's heart in her hands from the moment they met even as she'd carried his younger brother's child.
And that brings us to Elijah's sudden hesitation on his principles, his own rules becoming sour on his tongue when he thinks about them any further.
When baby Alyssa was born, her mother and father barely got a moment with her before she was sent off with Cami to be kept safe when the factions started going to war, and the witches specifically had taken a liking, more so a hatred—to the first hybrid having a child they were told he could use as a weapon to make more like him. They needed to kill her.
Instead, the family killed her. As far as anyone knew baby Alyssa had died an hour after she was born, mourned by Y/n, the wolves, the Mikaelsons, hell the entire town felt the loss. Others were happy to be rid of the potential threat.
Only the trusted knew the child was still alive, but her loss in the household was felt nonetheless...especially by Y/n. The birth was traumatizing, she'd been murdered, her baby had been kidnapped, and she'd woken up feeling brand new. — A hybrid.
When they'd gotten Alyssa back before Genevieve completed the ritual, she knew she'd sacrifice anything for that little girl, even if it meant handing her over to Cami and being away from her.
It was for the better.
Elijah had held her tightly in his arms as she sobbed into his chest after they'd returned to the compound without her daughter.
It was midnight in the compound when he heard a soft knock on his bedroom door. Despite himself, he feels a smile tug at his lips, he knew it had to be only one person and it took everything in his bones not to snatch the door open just to see her face a little quicker, but he refrained.
Met with those familiar almond-shaped caramel eyes, a deep brown freckled complexion framed with sandy brown butt-length soft locs, lips parted slightly suggesting she was just about to call for him when he opened the door turning her cheeks a rosy pink when she's caught, there's a hint of amusement in his eyes which begin to wander her being, noting the ponytail her locs are in, to the oversized shirt she wore to her glasses sat on her nose and the expression that told him she'd just woken up.
"Y/n." He begins, only to be cut off by the feel of her arms wrapping around his neck and a little sob meeting his ears. He feels it turn on instantly, that protective instinct he'd always felt around her is switched the second the slightest whimper reaches him.
❦ ⌫ ❦
"I had another nightmare." She whispers, leaving me no time to answer before she's inside my bedroom and I begin to tow that invisible line. Temptation on my mind, but my concern for her outweighs.
This has become quite the routine since Alyssa's 'death'. The little wolf had a way of tugging on your heartstrings and with those puppy dog eyes, I can't even begin to unravel the mystery of how more aren't utterly addicted. She bats those lashes and suddenly nothing matters. She speaks like a siren and suddenly I'm weak in the knees. Jelly. If the blood were to pump through my veins, it would pump solely for her. My heart beats solely for her.
I take her into my arms without hesitation though I know there should be some distance and boundary. She's the mother of my younger brother's child. Yet...
I reel in my emotions and keep my composure but the battle within myself is one I continue to lose when it comes to her. When I see the mascara tears streaking her cheeks, I become but a fool; as always, I break.
...
...
...
She needs me.
The little wolf's beauty is simply unrivalled, and more often than not do I find myself entranced, lost admiring her and ensuring every detail, down to the smallest becomes engraved in my mind so much so that I'm sure I could identify her by beauty mark alone.
As she sits in front of me and I watch her wiping away the streaks of black tears, her eyes focused in on the handheld mirror she'd told me once belonged to her grandmother. — You see, I inevitably notice everything that goes on with the wolf. I always have; the slightest shift, the newest look, expression, what have you.
My eyes are still on her, and as they roam, my sights are occupied when I come to the sudden realization that the shirt the wolf wears, one that had caught my eye from the moment she stepped into my bedroom and set my undead heart aflame, was in all actuality, one of mine.
I'm sure my jaw has dropped but I pay no mind to my expression, all too enthralled in what the little wolf had going on, I find myself unable to look away. Who would want to? She's a creature crafted by the Gods and Goddesses themselves.
I guess I was a bit overzealous in my efforts to admire the beauty that she is; She breaks me free of my stupor, eyes directing that chocolate brown gaze my way and I find my stomach churning and tightening all with the thought that she might be the one thing to make me forget all my principles. — The possibility of angering Niklaus seems so worth it when I look to the art that the world hasn't proved itself worthy of revelling at; It seems even further worth it when that honeyed angelic voice of hers finds its way into my psyche and takes home there.
Siren to sailor. I find myself lured, and there's not much effort on her part. There doesn't need to be. Not when I am ready and very willing to fall into the many pieced puzzle that Y/n Y/ln was turning out to be.
"You're staring." I hear her sigh, we're sat face to face. Her in front of me on the sofa; Me, sat in the chair across from her. I feel myself growing a tad hot under the collar when she scoots herself forward a little closer, those hauntingly beautiful eyes of hers staring directly into mine. — There's a look in her eyes that I can't quite read, and though we'd grown closer, and I'd become quite the expert in all things Y/ln; Right now, and still, she was quite the mystery.
All I know is how that stare made me feel...She'd weakened and buckled my knees without me ever needing to stand up.
"Ah." I clear my throat, I wish to respond but my mouth moves not with my mind. She has rendered me defenseless in such a short period of our knowing each other that it feels as if I have known her a millennia.
"Do I still have something on my face, Lijah? You're worrying me. So zoned out..."
I have lived through and survived wars, I have watched famine and plagues kill off entire villages. I have seen the wickedness of man, I have existed and survived, myself, as the wickedness of man. I have torn through villages, leaving blood and carnage behind, killing in the name of family and letting nothing stand in my way, all in the name of protecting my loved ones.
To be a Mikaelson is to be fearless, confident, strong, ruthlessly loyal, and commanding; A leader, and in so many aspects I humbly admit to embodying just that. Yet as I sit here, staring into her eyes, struggling and stumbling over my words like a schoolboy with a crush, I am met with the knowledge that I might've just found the one thing, one person that both makes me weak, renders me speechless.
No, no this is something I am sure of. I have found the one person capable of knocking me down a peg, reminding me that I had once been human; Fragile, meek, and susceptible to a beautiful woman's charms.
I don't think she knows exactly how deep her powers reach. She has the ability to make an Original a nervous little boy.
"No, no. Nothing at all." I muster, but I don't even believe my own words and by the look on her face; She doesn't believe them either and at first I hesitate, wondering if I should let it slip that when I look at her I see a masterpiece. A work of art in my midst.
The little hybrid is one otherworldly creature, never had I ever met a woman as elegant, and ethereal as she. My lips parted, words silenced as I argue with two sides of myself; One so ruthlessly loyal to his family he'd do anything, lose anything for them and though it's normally the former…I find the other side winning me over.
The side that is tired of not living for me. The side that sees me as deserving of love and the little hybrid as worth every consequence.
I finally find my voice. "My apologies, you are just...something else. A vision of empyreal elegance. While I apologize for marveling, I recognize that in your perfection...You are something to be marveled at in all your glory...Gods woman." The words stumble out before I can attempt to hit the brakes. My bed is made.
She flashes that pretty little smile. I am ready to lie in it.
"You sound awfully smitten, Mr. Mikaelson."
A chuckle rumbles through me if only she knew just how much. This storm had been brewing for far too long, and I was no longer willing to try and stop it. Fighting seemed futile.
I find myself moving to sit beside her, my hand reaching out to tuck a few stray locs behind her ear, and I revel, I completely and utterly revel in the way pink dusts those beautifully high cheekbones of hers with a soft blush.
I don't want to fight.
"And what of it, little one? That a bad thing?" My voice is a mere whisper, lost in those eyes of hers. It feels as if she's ripped my heart from my chest and claimed for her own, and I, a willing fool; allow it.
"No...I just see the way you look at me. It matches my gaze when it falls upon...you."
Their eyes remain locked on one another and the world drifts, it simply drifts away when the lovers fall into one another, ready and all too happy to drown. Elijah simply can't hold it in anymore, his attraction to the hybrid. Niklaus could be angry later, he'd handled his younger brother before, he could do it again. But no longer would he wait. His Persephone sat only inches away, he could feel her breath hitting his skin. He leans in closer, tilting her head up to look back into his eyes.
"May I trouble you for a kiss, sweetheart? It seems I can no longer control my urges. You- You are too tempting." His voice is soft and breathy, and Y/n can feel herself falling all the same. Just like she'd been doing from the moment they'd met. Locked eyes.
This had been building up and it was bound to explode. She nods, her forehead pressing against his. She lets out a breath she didn't know she'd even been holding, a hand resting on his cheek. "I- I have been waiting for you to ask since that night on the balcony."
It was like a switch flips in Elijah because suddenly he wraps an arm around her waist tugging her closer towards him, impish grin spread across his lips, eyes searching hers for any sign of hesitation; He finds none, and that's all he needs. His lips meet hers and by no means is it rough or sloppy, their lips a choreographed routine filled with a tender, gentle, and romantic passion. One that set fireworks off in the room and butterflies off in the pit of Y/n's stomach.
When they part from the kiss, at last, Elijah once again tugs her closer until she's sat in his lap with his arms wrapped tightly around her to ensure she was secure and protected, as if she were the most delicate thing he'd ever come across. "Allow me to apologize for my tardiness. I assure you I see the error of my ways, and I assure you no longer am I able to deny myself the pleasures the little goddess in my lap brings. You...You are something so sinisterly entrancing, Y/n Y/ln."
Elijah Mikaelson has a way about him that no one can quite resist, a charm that shines through and blinds you to his last name. There was a reason the factions of the quarter were more open to forming alliances when it was him speaking on behalf of his family. The noble gentlemanly way in which he carries himself could charm the panties off the toughest of Mikaelson critics, and Y/n, herself for that matter.
Perhaps it was a little somber to say but she's never met anyone quite like Elijah before, a man so romantic and passionate she was sure she'd stepped into a fairytale starring a Prince Charming so handsome he could stop hearts with a simple glance. "My, you have such a way with words. You're gonna make a lady's knees week."
That rumbling chuckle once again reverberates through the woman's body, sending a shiver down her spine. She's once again forced to look into his eyes, and this time it almost stops her heart. That half-grin that shows he knows his power, those chocolatey brown eyes filled with love; filled with lust.
"And what happens, little wolf, when you realize that that is precisely my intention? My dear, you see, when it comes to you...that has always been the end goal. Not only do I wish to take claim of the intelligence that is your mind and the heart I hear beating so very loudly for me...No. I am a selfish greedy man, and I want it all." Elijah leans down to whisper gently into her ear, no longer would he take into account those who merely disregarded him in turn. He was so...hungry.
One could define his behavior as obsession, greed, gluttony. Maybe it was all of the above when it came to her. He was mad for the little wolf, and more than anything he needs to feast; His eyes linger on her neck for a moment too long until she's looking up at him through those lashes of hers with a look that speaks nothing but trouble into the atmosphere. —Her next words become a beacon, his fangs can no longer control themselves.
"A sample?" The way she presents her neck to him is all too erotic though vampirism had always been nothing short of, and the male feared his hunger would not dissipate with a 'sample' nor was he sure he'd have the self control to pull himself away, and yet...
He brushes her locs from her shoulder exposing more of her neck to him; leaning down, he inhales deeply and the scent of her. The mere scent. It was enough to have his trousers feel three sizes too small. "Stop me now, dear. I'm not sure I can stop myself." He whispers, breath kissing her neck with a gentle blow.
Y/n, god the minx — She merely tilts her head even further, eyes flickering back over to him. "A sample, Elijah."
The universe was testing him. It had to be so. His breath hitches, eyes flickering over from the spider tattoo that rests on a pulse point to the beauty marks and freckles scattered about the very surface. He looks into her eyes for one last chance. One last chance to stop him where he sits.
In case he ever thought he couldn't find more reason to think the wolf the most attractive creature to him, she'd always been there to prove him wrong. He feels himself letting a silent chuckle escape, his eyes turning black and fangs descending the moment he sees that look of challenge cross her features. "You are a dangerous one, Miss Y/ln...The day you take the Mikaelson name. Dear...You'll fit right in."
She lets out the sweetest moan and it's like music to his ears, something that rivals and trumps the greats. If he were to hear nothing more than her voice for the rest of his eternities, he would live a contented life. And her blood...
Why it's like nothing he's ever tasted, something so sweet, so delectable; He'd be a fool to allow it to be shared with someone else. No. This was his. She was his. When he finally regains his self-control and pulls himself away, his lips are immediately on hers, and lying her down — His body hovers over hers.
His tone is breathy and strained with desire when they break for air, looking down at the little wolf with such lust in his eyes it'd make the strongest fall to the knees in front of him. "It seems I was right in my assumptions...I need more. Much more. And I...Sweet wolf..."
He brushes the hair from her eyes and leans down so they're eye to eye, lips close enough to steal another kiss. He continues. "Don't think I possess the self-control needed to not simply take it, so I again implore, darlin'. Do you wish to go any further?"
As he says this, she watches his hands move to the buckle of his belt and her eyes stick to the scene for a brief moment neglecting to give an answer right away until her eyes meet with his again and her own hands move to help unbuckle his belt.
"Nous sommes toujours jeunes, ma douce...and I could spend all my eternities...drowning in you." She finally speaks, one hand helping unbuckle his belt whilst the other tugs him in by the tie for another kiss.
They say you only live once, though I have found such to be untrue. My family and I have died a million deaths, hunted, persecuted, making enemy after enemy as we go but I swear. In this moment, I am sure I have never experienced anything coming close to the wolf's soul-piercing, hypnotic, stomach-churning gaze.
No, no, I had never experienced anything coming close to the wolf. End.
My hands run from her chest to her stomach to those deliciously built hips that I had endlessly fantasized about within those quiet nights, fingers roaming to the hem of her lace white panty. I can feel the goosebumps on that beautiful caramel complexion of hers when I slide the lace down her smooth long legs; She busies herself with removing that damned shirt and soon before my very eyes is my every dream.
Her body is a temple and I am here to worship, her cunt stares back at me glistening and dripping onto the sheets immediately in such a way I can't help myself to tease, "You're gushing sweetheart. So soon?"
This, this is what makes the little wolf so alluring. She bites back, and she bites back in a way that makes you want to make her absolutely eat her words, and that alone puts the vivid image of her pretty lush little lips wrapped around your cock, drooling and gagging with tears in those beautiful eyes, mascara streaking down her cheeks.
"And you? That looks painful. I'm surprised you haven't cum in your pants yet." She gives me this smug little smirk as if she's gotten one up on me, and in a way, she has. Hell, in multiple ways, but there were ways to rectify this, and I would rectify this.
I chuckle at her attempt to provoke. No dear, all you've done is provoke me since we've met. It is time I finally allow you to see what exactly wakes up when you do so. "No, no, my sweet doll, I? Oh, I desire to relieve my woes in something far better, in fact? I intend to do just that. You see..."
I take my slacks and boxers down with little regard for where they're thrown. My grip returns to her hips and I can't help to admire the sweet thing I have beneath me, so damned beautiful. So damned inviting. "I intend to breed this pretty cunt until I'm satisfied, and sweetheart I hope you think no less of me when I say this but...Foreplay is the last thing on my mind right now. I need to bury myself in you. I need to drown myself in you. Say the word."
Gods. Gods. The wolf never fails to give me a goddamned run for my money. She wraps her legs around my torso and uses her strength to pull me in, those soft plush lips of hers curling into that same smirk that seemed to want me damned to hell. She's a succubus, and it's only made clearer when her hand entangles itself in my hair and I'm pulled closer, her breath hitting my skin when she breathily whispers into my ear, sending a shudder down my spine.
"The word."
Before I can even blink my body moves before my mind is able to catch up, a growl thundering within my chest, nails slightly digging into her hips whilst the other aligns myself with her cunt hole, sliding in slowly...
I hear her whimper, I hear it dissolve into a pretty little moan, I feel her clench, I feel the way her cunt hugs my cock, and yet all I can focus on is how much better she feels than my fantasies of her ever envisioned. I attempt to give her time to adjust but I can feel my hips twitching ever so.
I attempt to wait, I do. It's my hips that have a mind of their own.
The first thrust into her heat nearly has my body stuttering, her warmth is tight, and the little wolf is so drenched it helps me set a delectable pace. "Elijah..." She moans my name, and I swear I've never heard it sound so good. I watch her face, eating the way her eyebrows knitted and her lips parted in pleasure. She's like no woman I've had the pleasure to bed with, there's something so different about how I feel with her that it feels like I've reached the end of the red thread and am now face to face with my soulmate.
"Listen to that...How pretty you sound when you moan my name."
I hoist her legs over my shoulder to get a better angle, only to slide deeper into the addictive drug that her heat is turning out to be. My pace is nowhere near slow but at the very least I am in control, no, allow me to rephrase. — At the very least, I hold onto a string's length of control and the string threatened to snap with every thrust into the little wolf's cunt.
I see a blush rise to her cheeks, which only serves to rip a grunt-tinged moan from my throat. She looks so beautiful underneath me. Delicate with a slim thick figure, curves in all the right places, it was absolutely no wonder I couldn't keep my hands off of her.
Her nails run themselves down my chest the moans of my name becoming an echo that livens me more than I initially thought possible. She is the perfect definition of a succubus and I, oh I've become a willing victim. A fool for her affections. "I need more. I need you deeper, Elijah." She compels me, and I for once, fall under the spell. I allow my mind to be hers. My body to be her toy in any way she needs it to be. Her hands move to my rear and before I can even think she's pulling me closer, deeper, and I am human again.
My hips thrust with the wildest of abandons and my head is soon buried into inviting neck of hers as I push my way to my final goal; the puppy beneath me was just begging to be bred.
There are such simple pleasures that I take joy in, the ones that remind me of a humanity I'd long since lost, and this. This was one of those simple pleasures. You see, as I bury myself to the hilt in the little things cunt, I inhale the scent, the pheromones she so naturally exudes. I hear her every breath shudder and her walls flutter around me. I smell the scent of her jasmine shampoo. I feel the smoothness of her flesh, the warmth of her body against mine and the feeling of chest pressed to chest.
There was nothing more real. More human than how her body embraced mine, moulded together, moving in perfect harmony. I grunt into her ear with each hard, rough thrust. "Deeper is what you want? Well, sweetest. I think we can come to an agreement. Our wants are aligned."
I can feel myself getting closer to the edge and by the way her walls tighten, I gather she's close as well. I grab onto one of her legs, my lips meeting every inch of skin from calf to thigh, my moans hoarse and strained as euphoria steals me away. I let out a breathy whisper.
"Y-yeah?"
The stammer in her voice is enough to nearly send me flying but I manage to ground myself. I need this to be special, to take my time. To take my time... “You want deep. You want more? Good. You wanna know what I want, pretty one?"
The look on her face only gets me further worked up, I can tell she's about to climax so I stop my movements for a moment just to lean in and get a good look at her face. "I said...Do you want to know what I desire, little princess? Let me hear how pretty you sound all flush and breathy, sweetheart and I promise...We both get what we want. So?"
Ah, there it is. "No- NO. I wish to know what you desire."
There we go. Such a good girl, I don't think I've given in to anything faster than I have now. My hips resume their movements and for a moment all I can do is grunt and moan so primally it reminds me the beast that lies underneath, until I look down to her and I am broken free of my daze. "Me, dear? I want to breed you full of my bloodline. Is that too. much. to. ask?"
My teeth grit together and her nails dig into my back, all that is heard is skin-to-skin and the soft words of two lovers embracing the night.
Have I mentioned how the little wolf continuously surprises me? I am hanging on by a mere thread and soon is my collapse when I feel her lips latch onto my earlobe that voice of hers a melody when she whispers my undoing, "Drown yourself in me. Let all your worries go as your seed spills into me, Elijah. We figure out the rest later."
My pace quickens, my thrusts more erratic and uncontrolled chasing a high I never wanna come down from. It's as soon as those lush lips part, and her eyebrows knit, her heat clenching so tightly I could barely move an inch, the moment I feel her cross that edge? There's a low groan of her name, strained, hoarse, and raw. My hips stutter and I bring our heads together, intertwining our hands, my eyes running over that beautiful face of hers until I am finally too taken to focus, my seed spilling into her and my grip getting tighter on her delicate hands, I take joy when I feel that second orgasm rocking through her body. I find myself laughing a little when I look down at her.
"Again?"
She blushes in embarrassment and it's like another switch is flipped in my head the moment I pull myself away from her and lie down with the little wolf taking no time to come lie in my arms. "Shut up. It was-."
"Cute." I finish for her and pull her closer to me, "It was so damned cute."
I do as she says, I drown in her. I let her take me away to sea. We could figure out the rest later.
Niklaus Mikaelson, the beast of the compound, merciless and ruthless is he. Elijah had high hopes for his youngest brothers redemption but that had been before the objectification of the wolf had begun shortly after finding out she was carrying baby Alyssa. Niklaus had become more than possessive over the poor woman and Elijah knew there was only one way this would end when it came to the hybrid.
The sun begins to rise but Elijah himself hadn't slept a wink, he'd been too energized to do so with the little angel by his side, head resting on his chest and light snores heard whilst she sleeps peacefully. He had almost been too afraid to move but the jitters find him soon enough and he's carefully removing the tired thing from his embrace, jonesing for a mug of tea to help calm his excitement. He hadn't felt so happy in such a long time.
Unbeknownst to him there were far too many people in the compound for his dealings to be kept secret, a head peeks out of a nearby bedroom with a smile of genuine happiness for the Original all the same. — But not everyone could be so.
He's stood in front of the tea kettle, his back turned until he hears a boisterous clap and his eyes roll so far back into his head he's almost discovered the secret to life when the familiar cocky English accent belonging to his younger brother hits his ear. Tea time would have to wait, he disappointed-ly supposed before turning around to deal with Niklaus's already felt anger.
"So I see the little wolf has woven you into her webs. Splendid brother." Niklaus sarcastically speaks up, his hands falling to his sides eyes scanning his elder brother in utter contempt. Only this time, Elijah feels himself struggle to care for Niklaus's hotheaded-to-be-expected mood swings.
Elijah lets out a breathy chuckle, lips wrapping around the rim of his mug with a finger up to signal Niklaus to wait whilst he takes a sip. He sees the hybrid's jaw clench. "You know brother, I never really cared for your taste in women but that one upstairs? Oh, she's the best decision you've ever failed to make."
"Failed. She is the mother of my heir, my legacy. That is not a failure, no. No, the failure is yours for neglecting to keep your promise, dear brother and all for the likes of..."
Elijah puts his mug down when he feels the disrespect towards Y/n on his brother's tongue, stepping up to him with no hesitation; He gives him a smile with zero joy beneath it, only a calm, levelheaded warning. "Think carefully of your next words before you speak them Niklaus. I plead this for your sake."
Niklaus laughs in disbelief, clapping his hands together before taking a mimicked step forward as well. "You would fight your own over a woman you've barely known a year?"
"You've killed your own for less."
Niklaus's glare falters when Elijah speaks, he dares not refute the truth but oh it stings his ego to hear his flaws thrown back at him, Elijah isn't the least surprised when he's pinned to the wall with Niklaus's hand wrapped round his neck. "Well then, since I am the bastard son. The beast. Maybe I should live up to my title. Tell me, brother, are you prepared to die behind the little wolf? I simply can't allow my own sibling to be with the mother of my child so it seems I'll simply have to fix this...My way."
"Oh drop the victim complex, Niklaus. No one is calling you a bastard, nor a beast but you are acting like one, no? Yes, I'd die for her, and so so much more because you see to me she's more than a walking incubator. Tell me Niklaus...Do you think she feels safe around you? Happy? When all you've done is treat her like a possession to be had? Or is she afraid? Terrified of the monster you're turning int-."
Niklaus is seething, throwing him into the nearest wall with a growl, his eyes turning that familiar black and silver, fangs popping out as he rolls his neck, fury absolutely steaming from his ears. "Oh, the little wolf has you in the palm of her hands. Wrapped around her finger. But you know, I get it. The whore was a wonderful lay."
It was like a switch flipped in Elijah's head the moment he heard the disrespect towards the woman he cherished more than the air he breathed, his eyes mere voids in contrast to their natural chocolatey brown. "Y'know Brother, I've always prided myself on my love and loyalty for my family so hear me when I say this," He clears his throat, cracking his knuckles and taking a page from Nik's book when he rolls his neck, "Because you are family I will give you one chance to right your wrongs, you're allowed to repeat yourself, but I surely and strongly advise against it."
Niklaus growls, a rumbling sound that feels as though it may shake the compound without so much as a care or thought for the survival of those who inhabited the rooms or roamed the halls. "Well I wasn't planning on it but maybe I should go upstairs, find your little wolf and truly make the whore my, what was it you called her? Ah yes, my possession."
It was then that Elijah could feel himself lose it the moment the words were uttered once more, and it's at the moment Niklaus says the word possession that Elijah makes his move, pinning his younger brother to the nearest wall and landing a punch to his jaw.
Always and forever be damned. There were so few siblings other than Rebekah and Freya that actually used the oath wisely, and Niklaus had gotten away with the opposite so many times with his "woe is me" act — turning his traumas into a crutch that had held the Mikaelson clan hostage for decades; Millenniums. No more.
He should've listened to Rebekah from the very start when she'd told him that Niklaus was simply too far gone to be saved. Still, it tears at his being that it has to come to this.
"You should be thanking me for not snapping your neck where you stand, dear brother for the words you speak are so disrespectful I'm not sure I wish to stop myself."
Niklaus pushes him back only for Elijah to slide back with a hiss tearing through his throat, ready to fight for his happiness. Ready to fight for her. Nik runs at him, wielding a piece of white oak in his hand that Elijah dodges just barely, the stake mere centimetres from his neck stuck inside the compound walls. They struggle and fight for the stake but in the end, no one wins for something stops the men where they stand.
Freya stands exhaustedly next to Keelin and Rebekah who didn't look too amused themselves, all in matching states of unrest. Then and only then is it noticed that Niklaus's free hand held a dagger which pierced into Elijah's stomach.
An agonized scream is heard so gutturally and before Niklaus can take another breath, he and the blade are both pushed away from the Original, a familiar head of sandy brown locs coming to Elijah's aid. “ELIJAH!!”
Niklaus looks between the women and his brother; all he can muster is a scoff. "You dare betray your own flesh, your own blood for the little wolf? How noble." He licks blood from his lips just as Freya pulls the stake and dagger from his hands with no more than a wave of her hand.
"Niklaus, listen to yourself for a second." Freya finally speaks up, ushering her girlfriend behind her in case the hybrid gets any bright ideas.
"You drone on about family and loyalty without knowing what either mean." Rebekah swallows, tears in her eyes; she gestures to Y/n and Elijah, the wolf wrapped in his arms whilst the vampire groans from the pain but dares not pull away. The agony seemed more than worth it when it's her causing it, "You were about to end our brother's life, and for what? Your ego? Pride? Insecurities that run so deep now that you're a father? Is that it?"
Niklaus's face falls, and that's when Freya tells Keelin to head back upstairs before she takes part in the conversation. "You know nothing...nothing. She is the mother of my heir and he..."
"He's treated me more like a person than you ever have since you found out Alyssa was to be born."
"You will no longer blame Elijah for your losses, Niklaus. Your tendency to do so is a flaw that's been ignored too long." Freya whispers fully prepared to snap her own family's neck if need be.
Niklaus is stunned. He's frozen on his spot at this point, looking from gaze to gaze and seeing nothing but disappointment and fury.
"Elijah has done nothing but fight for us, our happiness...your redemption. And all that you give him in return is control over his life. Over ours. Have you ever thought, Nik...That- You'd be a better father if you stopped behaving like ours?" Rebekah is nearly pleading with him now, her hands shaking like never before. She walks up to Niklaus, grabbing his hands in hers. "You starved me of my love, my family, my happiness. I am begging. Begging. That you not do the same to Elijah. I will never and I mean never trust you again if you don't."
A tear falls down his eye, breath shuddering as he once again looks around the room incurring the wrath and sorrow that lie within it. His eyes fall to his bleeding older brother and his child's mother, embraced safely within each others arms. He looks back to Freya and Rebekah and his hand lifts with his final words.
"I'll go. A family should stay here. I fear I must relearn what that is before I trust myself enough to be apart."
I sit in front of him, my hand dabbing away at the wound which would no doubt heal in only an hour or two, but still, I get lost in my thoughts blaming myself for he and his brother's fallout tonight. I guess I'd been more out of it than I thought.
His hand catches the wrist that held the towel I use to clean his wound, and suddenly I'm brought a breath apart, my hand on his chest. I feel his heartbeat beneath my fingers, his index and thumb coming to tilt my chin up. Our eyes meet.
"Always and forever, Little wolf." He whispers, breath tickling my cheek as he leans in to press a sweet, slow, and gentle kiss to my parted lips. — I feel my breath is stolen. I feel my chest is tightening.
When he pulls away, all I can muster is a weak nod, those five special words close to follow. My eyes close, our foreheads pressed together. "Always and Forever, My lover."
