It's a team effort. I provide the outline and they decide how messy getting from point A to point B is going to be.

"you're the writer, you control how the story goes" no not really. i wrote the first sentence and then my characters said "WE WILL TAKE IT FROM HERE" and promptly swerved into an electrical fence.

absolutely love abusing the power that comes with 3rd person limited pov and just ignoring things and being vague sometimes. does the character know all the details? no? then I don't have to either.

grammar this. grammar that. sometimes 'grammatically correct' just doesn't hit the spot. the vibes are telling me to laugh in the face of the english language and that's exactly what I'm going to do, one incorrectly structured sentence at a time.

kudos to writers with dialogue-heavy works, I got mad respect for y'all. love using dialogue as a tool, but my default settings are non-verbal (dialogue) and non-stop yapping (description).

writing in the middle of the night is always such a gamble. who knows what I'll come up with? a masterpiece, so gut-wrenchingly beautiful that it'll leave you questioning the meaning of life? indecipherable gibberish, sentences so oddly structured that there's no way to tell where tf I was trying to go with them? best of luck to future me, she's gonna have one hell of a time finding out.

first drafts are a necessary evil, but that knowledge doesn't make it hurt any less. like, what do you mean it can't be perfect on the first try? what do you mean I wrote all this just to rewrite the whole thing? rude.

ah yes, the 5 love languages: quality time (putting the character through unimaginable horrors), acts of service (hurting the character for the sake of the plot), physical touch (hurting the character physically), words of affirmation (hurting the character emotionally), and gifts (you guessed it, pain, the gift is pain for the character)

removing distractions isn't enough anymore, I need to be sent to the seaside like a sickly victorian woman in order to get some writing done
