PLEASE HELP!!! CALCIFER IS VERY SICK!!
Tumblr media
I am so sorry to have to do this, but my cat Cal is very sick. We found him this morning in a lot of pain, and we rushed him to an emergency vet clinic. They are wanting $3000 to treat him. He has a urinary block, and they are saying that he’s going to be put down if we do not give them the money. They do not take payment plans. Only ScratchPay and CareCredit.
The urinary block is going to require 36 hours of treatment with a catheter and fluids. Just the emergency exam fees, and the pain medicine they gave him alone cost $950, so we are tapped out entirely.
SPREAD AND DONATE AT THE LINK BELOW
PLEASE SPREAD THIS IF YOU CAN’T DONATE!!!

okay cool i have your attention
a friend of mine really needs help gathering up the money for vet care for his cat. we’re very worried about both of them, this kitty means the world to him and we’re not sure how long he’ll stick around if something happens to him. (not to mention, kitty doesn’t deserve to die just because capitalism is hell.)
we estimate he’ll probably only have a few days if lucky so this is URGENT. it’s most likely liver failure. please spread this around!!

Our apartment was broken into today while we were at work and one of our cats was injured.
We had enough cash from tips to take him to the emergency vet, but we may need help paying for diagnostic and treatment. We're not sure yet what everything will be as we're still at the vet but please consider donating towards vet costs or sharing as rent will pretty much wipe us out completely. Feel free to dm for information or proof

Luca has a little indent on his nose from when he injured it early in the year. I'm glad it regained all the nice black colour though.
I didn't do anything for his birthday because it was in the middle of puppy stuff (and to be honest I don't celebrate dog birthdays because it's not like they care or notice and I do lots for them on a daily basis), but Luca turned 8 on August 1st.
I decided to purchase pet insurance for all three dogs as the cut-off age was 9 years so Luca just scraped in. It's expensive and I've never had it before (I've been lucky) but I figured it was worth doing now because three dogs feels like a major risk with potential health issues. Especially with Luca now considered "old" and with no pre-existing conditions, it seemed smart. Hopefully I won't really need to use the insurance, but now I'm covered for at least some of any future emergency or illness bills.

I adore that your bitchy characters *stay* bitchy. I tried to have a relationship fairly recently with someone who I couldn't be bitchy around (I wanted to impress them, and they found my compassion impressive but not my bitterness) and it eventually sucked the energy out of me to maintain the dream they had of me not being a bitch. Seeing Leonis and Victoria be simultaneously bitchy and loved is just really refreshing. Thanks. For that.
i'm writing the huge bitch representation i crave and i'm glad i'm not alone in this

Hemophiliac Dog in Need of Donations
Hi all,
Any of you who know me in real life know that animals are a huge part of my world, and I tend to take on the ones who need a little extra TLC.
A little over a year ago, I posted on here asking for some assistance with an emergency situation with one of my dogs, Rufio, who ended up getting a diagnosis of EPI. I’m happy to report that we now have his situation under control and he is doing so much better!
Unfortunately, we have had another emergency come up with Patrick, my hemophiliac dog.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was Patrick as a baby. Animal control brought him in after finding him wandering on the streets with a large lump the size of a potato on his back between the shoulder blades. When I was fostering him, the vets initially thought it might be a tumor or something and sought to operate. It turned out to just be a giant hematoma (basically a bruise) instead and he nearly bled out from the surgery. It took three blood transfusions to get him stable. Hemophilia, however, isn’t super common in dogs so that’s not immediately where their minds went.
Tumblr media
Fast forward a few months to when the rescue did his neuter…and he almost bled out AGAIN. Neuters are usually quick and simple and heal up easily. He bled for three days. I had pee pads soaked through with blood. Parts of my house looked like a murder scene. This was even AFTER the vets had tried cauterizing and stapling the area. It just WOULD NOT stop bleeding. His entire underside turned BLACK from all the bruising. (The pic below is from a later bruise but you can get the idea.)
Tumblr media
Patrick has been fortunate in that since we adopted him, most of his issues have been manageable at our local vet up until this point. A few days ago, however, my hyper, lovable goofball who usually will dash for a piece of food the second it hits the floor decided that he did not feel like getting up for breakfast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He went from “I am going to drag mom after this squirrel across the yard” to “I don’t want to even get up to pee unless I REALLY have to.” And then he stopped showing interest in CHICKEN. And even though there weren’t any outward signs of a bleed, I knew something was VERY wrong. We rushed him to the emergency vet yesterday where they did a bunch of imaging (x-rays, ultrasounds, and a CT) to determine the possible cause of the bleed in his abdomen and gave him some much-needed blood transfusions and cryoprecipitate.
Tumblr media
He’s on the mend and will hopefully be coming home soon…but the total cost for this is going to be somewhere between $6,000 and $10,000. Fortunately, the rescue we worked with when fostering him—Too Broke Girls Dog Rescue basked out of upstate South Carolina—has been willing to help fundraise. If you can help donate ANYTHING we would be incredibly grateful. You can donate directly to the rescue’s PayPal ([email protected]) or Venmo (@toobrokegirls) and specify that it’s for Patrick. You can also go to their Facebook page and use the donate button on a post they shared about him.

This is my cat Hank. He's 9 years old and I love him like the stars.
Tumblr media
Hank was diagnosed with lymphoma this week. It took about a month of blood tests, ultrasounds, a cytology, and an oncology visit.
Tumblr media
I adopted Hank when I was in the middle of a mental health crisis, and I just needed something to give me a reason to be here. I drove from Los Angeles to Riverside CA because I had seen a gorgeous long-haired lilac pointed kitten that was going to be at a rescue event. By the time I got to the event, that kitten had already been adopted, but I stuck around to look at the others. My sister had come out to help me choose a kitten, and she was actually the one who picked up Hank. He crawled all over my sister and I and sat on my shoulder purring, and that's when I decided to take him home.
Tumblr media
My sister is also the one who named him. We were both watching The Vlogbrothers together, and she named him Hank because he was curious, friendly, and loved "talking". He hates being alone, and you can always find him in a five foot radius of me or mom.
Tumblr media
It doesn't matter what you're doing, he needs to be the center of attention. Which is only fair, I mean look at him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hank has seen me through a severe mental health crisis, my mother's stroke, two years of treatment for an autoimmune disorder that wrecked my body, the worst of the pandemic, and my bother's suicide. He means the world to me. The fact that a bunch of imaginary numbers in a computer somewhere can determine whether he even gets a CHANCE to beat this cancer is a horrific, awful thing that is tearing my heart apart. I can't do this alone.
Tumblr media
Please reblog this.
Please share it.
If you're in a place to do so, please consider donating.
I know he's just one small cat in a world full of people and animals in need. But I'm the only voice this little furball has, so I'm pleading on his behalf: please help me help him have a fighting chance. There's no guarantee he can beat it, but without treatment then there's no chance at all. I am doing everything I can, but I can't do it alone.
Thank you.

Hi, do you have a sec to talk having a cat for a pet? I've been wanting to hit up the shelter and see if I can't take one (or maybe a pair) home for a good while now and while I have a smidge more money than even a few months ago, I'm still arguably Poor Enough that I've also been checking and rechecking to make sure I've thought about all/most the costs that are connected to cats.
Is there anything that you think people often forget about when they try to do the budget maths that's a bit more past the regular upkeep and standard stuff like surprise vet bills, insurance, 'fuck you I'm not eating this brand of food anymore', and periodically replacing stuff that either breaks or wears down?
I would hate to commit only to realise I don't have the funds after all, y'know?
ummm not really? remember to budget for regular yearly vaccinations. even if cats are 100% indoor you can still bring stuff in from outside so they could still get those illnesses and a lot of insurance doesn't cover routine care
honestly i don't have pet insurance at all because most of them cover fuck all for the first like... year (and 2 years in the case of dental which like. what) and the list of things they don't cover is ridiculous. if you're in the UK and financially struggling (you do not have to be unemployed or on benefits) you can register with the PDSA for reduced cost vet treatments. otherwise just hit up the least extortionate one and keep a separate savings account for potential vet bills.
(insurance won't even insure 2 of my cats because bean is FIV positive and siouxsie has a slightly dodgy kidney. i mean slightly. she doesn't even have to take meds for it that's how slightly. but these are "pre existing conditions" that invalidate them like again. what. is the point. of you)
but no you've not forgotten anything. outside the initial "buying everything" expense cats really aren't that spendy as far as pets go. if you can afford it i'd recommend buying food in bulk and larger bags of litter. it normally works out quite a bit cheaper to get like... 120 pouches of food once every 4 months than getting a small box every 12 days yanno (by the time the next shipment rolls around you'll definitely have enough if you just keep x aside a week for it it's just that first one that gets you) oh. boyfriend pointed out having a little treats budget too. sweeties.
good luck also please show me the baby i need to see the baby

I need help. I need to get stuff to get fluid in bean because he's constipated. I need help with rent. I'm trying not to have a breakdown on a Monday morning and failing. Rent was only going to be 3$ but I spent 87 on cat stuff because we needed food and litter so now it's 90. I'm almost out of food. I'm trying to get comms and failing. Bean's issue just started in the last 24hrs. I have 165 left in care and that's definitely not enough for a bowel obstruction surgery so I need to get fluids in him fast which means I need to get purees which I can do but that's. Coming out of my rent money at this point. I'm falling apart and I don't know what to do. I keep e-begging and I know that's really irritating but I don't have another choice.
Jelly Bean is 18 years old and any ailment could be the end for him and I'm just not doing ok I'm not in just crying here trying to to keep an eye on him and listen out for the other two who are compensating by being chaos gremlins. I dont
I'm not ok I'm breaking down this is the worst spring of my life I'm weathering it completely alone and I don't know
What to do
I can't open a GoFundMe that wouldn't get here fast enough (and my id is out of date why does an ID cost money??) at this point for rent, food, and the puree for bean, I need about 200$ total.
I have a card for my Venmo and the ability to quick transfer to PayPal ($rosesinclover for both) I'm offering art but if you just want to donate or just want to see my boys I'd be grateful for the ease on my situation.
Definitely not sobbing like an overwhelmed toddler

hi, bitches!
i just got a new puppy (literally yesterday) and long story short, he didn’t want to eat anything for over 24 hours and is now staying overnight at the emergency vet because he was SO hypoglycemic. he should be fine and should come home tomorrow—but the emergency fund i had saved over a year for his vet care before i got him is basically gone. what should i do?? i don’t want to go into credit card debt but i’m not sure i have another option if something else happens? do you have any advice?
We believe temporary credit card debt can work as a secondary emergency fund. This animal's life is in your hands and you are responsible for doing whatever you can to keep the puppy alive and healthy. Worry about the debt later, worry about the puppy's life now.
You can rebuild that emergency fund--and you used it exactly right!

Kinda re: my last post... *sheepish grin* SO UHH. I like lots of different ships, for various characters.
Twst does such a good job of worldbuilding, and making every character so well developed, any and all character interactions end up interesting!
*sheepish grin intensifies*
Re: my last post, though... imagine Azul using all 10 of his arms to force a sick, grumpy Jamil into bed.
Simultaneously holding him down, feeding him soup, and reading him a bedtime story. While Jamil flails uselessly and tries to scream invective... but there's an octopus arm covering his mouth.

Emergency Vet Money Needed (Sorry to Have to Do This)
Last week, a girl of mine had a lumpectomy and it was successful, but in the same night we rushed one of her sisters to the vet and lost her despite our efforts.
It was heartbreaking.
Tonight, one of our other girls is in need of a vet visit as we suspect something may be wrong with her digestive tract, maybe a blockage. In rats this is dangerous within a short time frame.
Due to last week, funds are practically non-existent so here I am and here is my [PAYPAL.ME] link.
I am also offering these candles for £15.
It you'd like to order one and help out please DM me and I'll send the invoice via PayPal.

Want to help Minmo grow strong and healthy? Then please consider donating to help out my sweet child! Can't/don't want donate? Then just sharing around is more than enough to help! Full details can be found here as well.

Tldr Minmo’s been to the vet twice, third time will be today. She’ll have an x-ray at the least which is more expensive than the last two visits. Will possibly need further treatment. I am a disabled person living off of disability payments alone which are far below the poverty line, making it hard to get by day to day without any extra expenses.
