I don't always know what I'm drawing or why. I think this thing is closest to a visualization of some subconscious imagery of the oc — or maybe I was simply inspired by how hookahs resemble balusters, and therefore are visually appealing.

Establishing a healthy relationship with ritual purity
Ritual purity is one of the many ideas that perennially appears in most religious and spiritual paradigms throughout the world. Many people struggle to integrate it into their daily lives, and some even disregard it altogether, so here I'll elaborate on some points concerning it, give some practical advice, and the theory behind it.
Why is ritual purity important to the Gods?
Preparing a pure body, space, and mind before a ritual is a sign of respect, first and foremost. As you'd never invite an important guest into a messy house, you'd also not invoke a deity into a messy room. If you went to an important dinner and the other person appeared dirty, underdressed, and overall in a state of neglégé, you likely wouldn't see that as polite or respectful in that setting. Thus, preparing a pure space and body are outward symbols of devotion and respect.
Why is ritual purity important for you?
Taking the time before a ritual to neaten up your room, take a shower, pefrom and ablution, perhaps even perfume yourself, and the space helps you get into the proper headspace for the ritual. It takes away the mundane thoughts by the virtue of having you focus on a task that is inherently related to a divine matter. I also found that it motivates me to maintain cleanliness even when I'm not otherwise feeling well.
How to ritually purify a space/yourself?
Depending on your tradition, you may already have specific ablutions and requirements in place for doing this, and if this is the case, definitely stick to those. A general method, however, would be to set the intention to cleanse on both a physical and spiritual level and then just clean/declutter your space as you usually would. After this, it would also be good to perform some kind of a banishing ritual (the LBRP always does the trick, but stuff such as spritzing with moon water can also work).
As for your body, make the same intention as you did above and take a shower.
When is ritual purification necessary?
If you have recently washed yourself or cleaned your space and altar, obviously, you don't need to do it again. You should, however, symbolically do a gesture of cleansing, such as waving away the stagnant energies with your hand, declaring an already clean space pure before ritual, etc. If you have recently showered, washing your hands and face with the intention of purification would also work fine.
How to avoid the common pitfalls?
The first and most important thing to note is that, if you are, for some justified reason, unable to purify yourself and your space, you can still say your prayers or make your offerings. The Gods will always hear you in your time of need and will always help you. A good way to compensate would be to just pray for them to cleanse your space and you. HOWEVER, this doesn't mean that you should just go lazy and not try and make yourself purify before a ritual. This is an important branch of discipline and health, and neglecting it in the long term will have negative consequences for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is important for you to establish a good relationship with spiritual hygiene and to make a good regiment and schedule for getting it done. It is one of those things many people struggle with, but upon doing it, you will inevitably see the benefits in the long run.
Beginner Guide to Automatic Writing and Channeling Deities
One of the ways in which you can open up to the Gods is by channeling as well as automatic writing. I know the gut reaction for most people is to think “only some people can do that but I can’t.” I assure you that it is easier than most people think it is and if only because it is a part of our innate nature as humans.
The process is simple yet there are a lot of things that you need to let go of to get started.
It is important to note that not every automatic writing or channeled message in the beginning is going to make sense. It takes a bit of work not just for you to get used to hearing what the message is but for the Gods Themselves to use your brain and use language that makes the most sense to humans.
Considering Deities do not have a tongue nor do They have language, They have to use the words that you have stored in your brain. They do not pluck Them from outside of your brain, though it is possible the further you get into channeling and possessory work, the more language you don’t normally use may come up in Their response. So if you are only getting images, words, or feelings in response to your questions, do not worry – you are not incapable and you are not doing it wrong. In fact, the feelings are going to help you in knowing when a Deity is actually speaking to you versus when your brain is making stuff up.
The Master Jesus, more than just embodying a figure to worship or to follow, represents something very deep within our consciousness. This is why in our Gnostic studies we explain the physical personages of the past, from diverse religious traditions, came to represent principles. They lived in their flesh and bone a state of being that we need to cultivate. Therefore, Christ as the human individual represents in us the principle of the inner Christ, our inner divinity, that light which can shine within the depths of our very heart, to illumine the mistakes of our past and the state of our suffering.
Our focus today is to learn how to develop that principle in us, to understand what it means psychologically, and to know how to apply methods to develop greater insight in our daily life, especially in terms of how we approach problems, how we cultivate virtue, and also how we conquer vice.
We will learn how to awaken, develop, sustain, and expand the intelligence of the heart, the wisdom of the heart, the ability to understand, very deeply, how to negotiate and navigate the great crises that are afflicting our contemporary humanity.
We will also learn that the heart must learn to balance the mind if what we really seek is genuine peace.
Honestly, I feel like I was not productiv today, but at the same time I do? It is a weird feeling. Anyways: Todays topic was Chaos Magick. Even though I am not at all focusing on the 19th-20th century it is interesting to take a look at later forms of magical believes. That timeperiod in particular is interesting, since psychoanalysis became a thing, what also shaped the view on magic itself.
Key figure for CM was Austin Osman Spare, who was a "critic" (that might be a far to nice word) of Freud, Jung but also Crowley. His philosphy/religious view mainly focused around the Idea of KAI as the unfiltered source energy of all. All in the sense of literally everything as one conected being and us as humans as part of that one thing. ZOS is more or less the lack (?) of KAI or having it blured by something like the ego. To reconect to KAI Sigil Magick is used as a tool.
For more Information I recomend Angela Puca's talk about Chaos Magick at Witchfest. Justin Sledge did a good video on the topic as well.
Here's a brief prayer you can say to honour your ancestors during the Samhain season:
May your soul take a soft-footed journey, on a soft-floored path through the old forest to the Land of Comfort, where the only tears are the drops of rain falling from leaves, the only moaning deep ocean swells, the only sighing light evening breezes. Rest in that land, with the peace you have earned.
(This prayer isn't mine, it's from the Pagan Ritual Prayer Book by Ceisiwr Serith)
Welcome to The Inner Altar
Hello, fellow seekers!
This is The Inner Altar, a space created for those of us yearning to explore the deeper truths of life, faith, and spirituality. Whether you're a recovering fundamentalist, a spiritual wanderer, or simply someone who feels there’s more to the story than what you were told, you’ve found a safe place here.
For years, I lived within the confines of rigid religious dogma—afraid to ask questions, afraid to explore, and afraid to doubt. But something inside me knew there was more. As I began peeling back the layers of fear and tradition, I uncovered a depth and beauty in scripture and spirituality that transformed my life.
Here on The Inner Altar, we’re going to dive deep into the sacred mysteries, reimagine scripture with fresh eyes, and embrace a spirituality that is both grounded and expansive.
---
What to Expect
Unveiling Symbolism in Scripture: What if Genesis 1 isn’t just a history lesson, but a profound reflection on the creative process within us? What if Adam and Eve’s story isn’t about failure, but about awakening?
Mystical Practices: From meditative prayer to journaling prompts, I’ll share tools to deepen your connection to the divine.
Healing from Fundamentalism: Together, we’ll explore how to release fear-based beliefs and find a faith that nurtures and empowers.
Community Reflections: This isn’t a one-way conversation. I’d love to hear your thoughts, your journey, and your questions.
---
Why "The Inner Altar"?
The name comes from the belief that we all carry a sacred space within us—a place where we meet God, wrestle with questions, and find peace. It’s not about what’s external, but what’s within. The journey inward is the journey to transformation.
If you’re here, it means you’re ready to explore. You’re ready to open your heart to the deeper truths and let go of what no longer serves you. You’re ready to step into the mystery, the wonder, and the beauty of the sacred.
---
Let’s Begin the Journey
Thank you for stopping by. Follow along for reflections, resources, and discussions that will inspire you to uncover your own inner altar.
Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments or ask questions—I’d love to connect with you. Together, let’s discover the wisdom, peace, and divine presence waiting just beneath the surface.
In grace and truth,
Michael
