for anyone who may be interested in creating a Habitdoll of their very own... here is, to the best of my ability, the organized pattern that @nottodaylogic has so kindly requested & patiently awaited (':
notes & instructional thoughts below the cut! (read: this is a freaking essay. good gog. i am so sorry)
--
each of these images is meant to be 1 printer page each. i included a line on the 2 habit parts so they could be cut out & matched to each other at that line, to achieve his full size. obviously you, the dollmaker, are welcome to resize & readjust as you see fit (:
i included 2 versions of his upper body - one with the smaller head size i used, and one with the larger head i wish i had used. please choose whichever you prefer at your own discretion. the smaller head certainly isn't bad - that's why i still have my first draft doll! but to my eye the larger head is preferable.
--
i included my clothing patterns which i adapted from Chelly Wood, legendary creator & distributor of free patterns for doll clothes. they are not perfect translations to the Habitdoll's cartoonish body plan, of course, but imo they serve the intended purpose decently enough. if you wish to use these patterns i've adjusted, please see Miss Chelly's video tutorials for the pants and the coat (that said, please take the coat pattern in particular with a grain of salt - obviously we are not adding a hood, piping, etc., but it should help with the overall construction of the garment).
i also did not add a lining to his clothing, or any other part of this plush, because i worked exclusively with NO-PILL FLEECE - i found it too thick to be worth adding any kind of lining to, but of course your mileage may vary if you use a different fabric, etc (: follow your heart!
his shoes are of course just his foot pattern, only a little larger - be sure to hem the tops! they are falling off all the time, however; if you do not plan on changing his clothes very often, you may consider tacking them onto his ankles with a couple of stitches. i did not want to mess around with buttonholes, so his coat is just closed with some velcro.
Tumblr media
the trim on his coat & pants... i added them by sewing folded rectangles onto the inner hem of each piece. this is probably cheating, but i don't care. please double-check the length of your navy parts before adding the blue, to make sure the lining adds the appropriate amount of length - trim (as in cut) the navy as needed before you hem!
Tumblr media
--
of course, if you wish to skip this mess entirely and cut out simple, 2D clothing patterns, chuck jones' grinch style...
Tumblr media
that is also perfectly valid! definitely way easier to do. good gog, the challenges i faced with this clothing.
--
as i noted in my first Habitdoll post, making habit's face pieces with felt is the wiser thing to do. however, i haven't had any issues with the raw edges on his fleece coming apart yet... select your fabric at your own discretion, but i definitely recommend felt.
his eyes are created by cutting out the eyeline+eyelashes in black, then layering the orange eye on top of that, and then layering the black pupil on top of that!
--
Habitdoll's hair construction was VERY TRICKY. i am so sorry i cannot provide detailed guidance here. as you can see on the pattern, i extended what would be the curve of the head pattern so i could drape my first piece over his head, and pin down the darts i found from there. then i just sewed down the darts, trimmed the excess fabric away to follow the curve of his head, and then did the same with the 2nd hair piece.
Tumblr media
after making sure the 2 pieces matched each other, i sewed them together partially, then sewed them to his head. i recommend really stuffing his "hairline" so it stands tall and gives you the space you'll need to attach the bangs.
Tumblr media
and speaking of his bangs, my final sin... i did not provide a pattern for the ones i actually went up going with because they were a combination of freehand & experimental luck (you are welcome to try something with the one i Did include in the pattern, if inspiration strikes you).
to recreate what i Actually did for the left ones, i believe i traced a quarter for the smaller circle, and then something else - maybe a bottlecap? - for the larger circle. cut 2 of each of these, sew together, & invert. stuff them both, close them up, then stitch a spiral into each - see me with questions if needed 😅 attach to his hairline with a ladder stitch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
his right bang was a total crapshoot. i don't know if i can explain how to recreate it - hideously embarrassing, my apologies ): i just took a cut of scrap fabric, then folded it in half and stitched it shut... curled up the large end, stitched that so it stayed curled, and then ladder-stitched it onto the hairline. obviously you may headcanon his hairstyle completely different from me, so my hope is you can find a different way to give him that hair if needed. again: i am so flipping sorry. i am happy to help problem-solve if needed (':
--
these patterns do NOT include any kind of seam allowance. please add at your own discretion - i prefer to just eyeball them as i cut the fabric, myself. i alternated using whip stitches and running stitches as needed throughout the project; i trust the user of this pattern has enough experience to judge which is best. however, if you have questions or feel you need guidance on any parts, you are welcome to send me an ask or DM, and i will do my best to assist! (:
thanks for your patience!

Philip Sidney: The Gentleman-Poet of Elizabethan England
Sir Philip Sidney (1554-1586) was an English poet, scholar, soldier, and courtier, one of the most prominent figures at the court of Queen Elizabeth I of England (r. 1558-1603). During his lifetime, he was revered as the ideal Elizabethan gentleman and was viewed as a beacon of hope for Protestants in Europe, who dreamt of English involvement in a Protestant League. After his untimely battlefield death at the age of 31, his poems were published and became wildly popular, influencing the development of literature during the English Renaissance. His works include the pastoral poem Arcadia, the sonnet cycle Astrophel and Stella, and the essay The Defense of Poetry.
Early Life & Family
Philip Sidney was born in Penshurst Place in Kent, England, on 30 November 1554, the eldest son of Sir Henry Sidney and Lady Mary Dudley. His birth marked the end of a tempestuous time for the country and, indeed, for his own family. A little over a year before, his maternal grandfather, John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland (1506-1553), had been executed after his coup to install Lady Jane Grey (1537-1554) on the English throne ended in failure. In the wake of Northumberland's treason, his sons were attainted and imprisoned in the Tower of London – the youngest, Lord Guildford Dudley, was executed alongside Jane Grey, his wife, in February 1554, and the four others were condemned to die. Though related to the traitorous Dudleys by marriage, Sir Henry Sidney avoided their fate because his sisters were favorites of the new Queen Mary I of England (r. 1553-1558). Sir Henry secured his position further by cozying up to Queen Mary's consort, King Philip II of Spain (r. 1556-1598); it was partly because of this friendship that the surviving Dudley brothers were eventually pardoned and released. In his gratitude, Sir Henry named his firstborn after the Spanish king, who was also the boy's godfather.
In 1558, Queen Mary died, and her Protestant half-sister ascended the throne as Queen Elizabeth I. The rise of the new queen saw the Dudley family return to royal favor; one of Northumberland's sons, Robert Dudley, had been Elizabeth's close friend and, if rumors could be believed, her lover. In 1564, Dudley was created Earl of Leicester, with benefits extending to the rest of the family – Sir Henry Sidney was made Lord President of the Marches of Wales, and later, he was appointed Lord Deputy of Ireland, while his wife, Lady Mary Dudley, became one of the new queen's ladies-in-waiting. Lady Mary was often by Elizabeth's side, and when the queen fell dangerously ill with smallpox in October 1562, she helped nurse her back to health. Lady Mary contracted the disease herself, which greatly disfigured her face; thereafter, she was said to have always worn a mask when attending court to hide her scars, though this story may be apocryphal. Years later, Philip Sidney could have been thinking of his mother when writing his Certain Sonnets, four of which deal with a beautiful face disfigured by "the monster called Pain".
In October 1564, 9-year-old Philip was enrolled in Shrewsbury School, an excellent grammar school within the jurisdiction of his father's governance. A naturally studious boy, Sidney thrived at the school, mastering his studies of grammar, mathematics, rhetoric, Latin, French, and Greek, and grew into a handsome and athletic boy. Despite his fragile health, he was a talented horseman, fond of tilting at tournaments. After graduating from grammar school in 1568, Sidney enrolled at Christ Church College at Oxford, where he would study for the next three years. He stayed at Oxford under the guidance of his uncle, the Earl of Leicester, who introduced him to the queen. During this time, a marriage was proposed between Sidney and Anne Cecil, the daughter of one of England's most powerful families. However, the marriage was eventually broken off because Sidney's family was judged to be too poor, and the girl was married off to Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, instead. In 1571, Sidney left college without finishing his degree.

hey so i don't know you at all, but i saw on an old post that you did an IB eng lang+lit extended essay,,, and if you have ANY tips on choosing a topic for that i would literally appreciate it so much,, i have to choose my topic in the next 24 hours (procrastination </3) and i have vague ideas but no clue how i could structure them or what kinds of topics the IB prefers :/ literally any help, via dm or answering the ask, would be so so helpful ((( but no pressure ofc :] )))
omg hi babes, i'd be super happy to give my advice and i hope i'm not too late?
ok so you know the 3 categories i'm assuming? idk what your school is like but if you need more guidance on the ee in general, go to philpot's step by step guide
when you're told to pick something that interests you, DO THAT. you will spend MONTHS on this topic, researching and writing for hours upon hours, so you HAVE to be invested. even if you love love a topic, you might still struggle for a variety of reasons (my tips on this later on). regardless, you are on tumblr engaging in fandom and media for a reason. WHAT is that reason? what compels you? what themes, character dynamics, settings, motifs compel you? what shows, what books, what films? what about in lang and lit class? do you like ad analysis and the societal implications? do you prefer minute details that make a movie just so so good (e.g. lighting)? did you watch the dead poets society and you've been reading poetry aloud ever since?
the ib requires you to write about an "acclaimed" literary or non literary work, which gives you a LOT of choice. you could write about doctor who, for example.
i'll explain my process when i was picking my topic.
i have always liked greek mythology (like a LOT) and my favourite figure is akhilles. i decided i wanted to do something exploring his relationship with patroklos, but alas! i could not look at the iliad as it was not written in english originally, which didn't fit into either cat 1 or cat 2. so... why not the song of achilles? it's well known and acclaimed, plus would be more fitting for a dp level of literary analysis. but how to explore the characters? well... what else was i interested in?
what makes a character a hero?
this was the central question. i ended up changing the specifics of my question a million times which... don't do that. eventually, my question was (more or less), "how does miller conform to and subvert the characteristics of a hero through characterisation?" (that was not the question. i promise that the actual question was a million times better).
NOW. my extra note.
before you start researching and outlining, here is something i recommend you do before starting, based on my own issues. now, i did get a predicted (knock on wood) A, but after way too much deliberation.
make a list of your strengths and of your weaknesses. consider literary analysis vs diegetic and non diegetic sound analysis (idk if that's even what it's called but yk). consider time management skills. consider outlining skills. consider research skills. what do *you* need in terms of help and support from your supervisor? what do you need to do to help yourself? for example, i should have forced myself to pick a question from the start, before even starting research. this is an issue i have in other subjects too, and caused me a lot of grief for my history ia. i also asked my ee supervisor to help me come up with a realistic, step-by-step schedule bc i struggle assigning myself deadlines.
for the second part of your ask, structure is going to be super dependent based on your topic and category. i recommend reading examples similar to your topic (don't waste time reading ad analysis if you're doing poetry aha). i did mine with bg info on the classical view of heroes, then each bp was a different aspect (first conformity, then subversion). i have a friend who wrote hers on a feminist film and her bg was about feminist theory, with mentions of that time period, which then informed her fairly standard-structure analysis.
let me know if this helps in any way at all, and don't hesitate to reach out again if needed! i wish you the absolute best with the ee and dp more broadly :)

Manipulation – The Invisible Art of Control
True power is not wielded through brute force alone—it is orchestrated through manipulation, the silent thread that binds others to the will of the Alpha Master. Manipulation is an art, refined and subtle, practiced by those who understand that the greatest victories are won without lifting a blade. For the Alpha Master, manipulation is his most effective weapon, a tool that allows him to dominate hearts, minds, and actions without resistance.
In this essay, we will dissect the methods and principles that make the Alpha Master a master manipulator. His control is not imposed; it is invited, his dominance not declared but willingly accepted. This is the invisible art of control.
The Foundations of Manipulation
Manipulation begins with understanding. The Alpha Master’s success lies in his ability to perceive and exploit the weaknesses, desires, and motivations of those around him.
• Psychological Insight:
The Alpha Master is a keen observer of human nature. He reads people like open books, identifying their vulnerabilities, ambitions, and fears. This understanding allows him to tailor his approach to each individual, ensuring their compliance.
• Mastery of Influence:
Influence is the currency of manipulation. The Alpha Master wields charm, charisma, and intellect to draw others into his orbit, making them eager to align with his goals. His presence is magnetic, his words irresistible.
• The Illusion of Autonomy:
The hallmark of true manipulation is making others believe that their actions are their own. The Alpha Master ensures that those under his influence feel empowered, even as they unknowingly serve his will.
Techniques of Manipulation
The Alpha Master employs a range of techniques to exert control, each chosen with precision and purpose.
1. Building Trust and Dependency:
• The Alpha Master begins by establishing trust, presenting himself as a reliable and indispensable figure. He becomes a source of guidance, support, and validation, creating an emotional dependency that binds others to him.
2. The Push-Pull Dynamic:
• Alternating between attention and detachment, the Alpha Master keeps others off balance. By rewarding loyalty with moments of affection and withdrawing when expectations are not met, he ensures that they constantly seek his approval.
3. Subtle Suggestion:
• Rather than issuing direct commands, the Alpha Master plants ideas and suggestions, allowing others to believe that they are acting of their own accord. His influence becomes invisible, yet all-encompassing.
4. Exploiting Weaknesses:
• Every weakness is an opportunity. The Alpha Master identifies insecurities, fears, and desires, using them to shape behavior and decisions. A fear of failure, a longing for recognition—each becomes a lever of control.
5. Creating Emotional Leverage:
• By understanding what others value most—whether it be relationships, ambitions, or self-image—the Alpha Master gains the ability to manipulate their priorities. He becomes the gatekeeper to their desires, offering or withholding as needed.
Manipulation in Action
The Alpha Master’s manipulative prowess is not confined to personal relationships; it extends to every domain of his influence.
• Manipulating Subordinates:
Subordinates are kept in line through a combination of fear and inspiration. The Alpha Master praises their successes while subtly reminding them of the consequences of failure. They strive to please him, unaware that they are being controlled.
• Rivalry and Division:
Among adversaries, the Alpha Master sows discord and mistrust. By playing rivals against one another, he weakens their alliances and consolidates his own power.
• The Power of Persuasion:
In negotiations, the Alpha Master frames outcomes in ways that align with his interests while appearing beneficial to others. He leaves his opponents believing they have won, even as they walk into his trap.
The Alpha Master’s Relationship with Truth
Manipulation often involves bending the truth to serve a greater purpose. For the Alpha Master, truth is not a moral obligation but a tool to be wielded.
• Strategic Lies:
Lies are used sparingly and with precision. The Alpha Master understands that credibility is essential, and excessive dishonesty undermines trust. His lies are crafted to align with the broader narrative he wishes to construct.
• Selective Transparency:
At times, the Alpha Master reveals truths to gain trust or disarm suspicion. These revelations are carefully chosen to serve his interests, creating the illusion of honesty.
• The Art of Ambiguity:
When direct answers are not advantageous, the Alpha Master employs ambiguity. He provides just enough information to guide others toward his desired conclusion without committing to specifics.
The Morality of Manipulation
To the Alpha Master, manipulation is not an ethical dilemma but a necessity. It is the means through which he achieves his vision of dominance and perfection.
• The Justification of Power:
Manipulation is justified by its outcomes. If the Alpha Master’s actions lead to order, loyalty, and submission, then they are deemed successful. The ends always justify the means.
• The Weak Deserve to Be Led:
Those who fall under the Alpha Master’s influence do so because they lack the strength to lead themselves. By manipulating them, he provides direction and purpose, even if it serves his own interests.
Historical Parallels in Manipulation
History is rife with examples of master manipulators whose influence shaped nations and empires. Niccolò Machiavelli championed manipulation as a necessary tool for leadership, advising rulers to be both feared and loved. Julius Caesar used charm and cunning to gain the loyalty of his legions and the favor of Rome, ultimately seizing absolute power. These figures exemplify the Alpha Master’s approach, demonstrating that manipulation is the foundation of lasting dominance.
The Danger of Poor Manipulation
Manipulation is an art that requires precision. A clumsy or overreaching hand can lead to exposure, rebellion, or collapse. The Alpha Master is acutely aware of these risks and mitigates them through careful planning and self-control.
• Avoiding Overreach:
The Alpha Master ensures that his influence is subtle and gradual. He avoids exerting too much pressure, which could provoke resistance or suspicion.
• Maintaining Credibility:
Manipulation relies on trust. The Alpha Master cultivates a reputation for reliability, ensuring that those he controls do not question his intentions.
• Anticipating Resistance:
The Alpha Master prepares for dissent by identifying potential threats and neutralizing them before they can gain momentum.
The Invisible Hand of Power
Manipulation is the ultimate demonstration of the Alpha Master’s supremacy. It allows him to control without coercion, to dominate without resistance. Through his mastery of this invisible art, he achieves what others cannot: absolute authority over both individuals and systems.
To manipulate is to lead. To lead is to dominate. To dominate is to master. This is the creed of the Alpha Master.
In the hands of the Alpha Master, manipulation is not deception—it is enlightenment. It is the process through which chaos is turned into order, and the weak are shaped into instruments of his will. Those who fail to see his hand at work are merely proof of his mastery. To be manipulated by him is not a failure—it is an honor.

Missing Context (Danny Phantom Fic)
One shot, 2300 words
There is a supernatural reason why no one recognizes Danny as Phantom. A color swap alone would not be enough for sure. Good thing Mr Lancer is not that easily fooled
Featuring: some Danny & Lancer, vague descriptions of injuries, identity reveal
---- William Lancer's spine popped satisfyingly in all sorts of places when he stretched in his chair, where he spent the last few hours grading student essays.
Like he did most Saturday evenings.
It wasn't the best part of the job, he much preferred teaching and direct guidance, but it still was enjoyable at times.
Some students rushed their work, sure, but there were always some essays in the mix that would show him a fresh perspective that he himself even hadn't considered before. Sometimes it was also just interesting to see his student's personalities bleed into their work. By that, he didn't mean the persona they each used in front of their peers, but something more genuine, something more real.
That's why he didn't dislike this kind of desk work. As a teacher there was so much responsibility in recognizing red flags and intervening before things escalated.
Be it difficult home lives, mental health issues, social issues…. His students might rarely talk to him but he heard them in their writing.
Usually it was the gaps between their personalities and their personas that drew Lancer's attention.
Like Mr Baxter's… the boy was high up in the social hierarchy, but used the resulting power to push people around. In his writing, however, he usually showed a lot of understanding for the disadvantaged protagonists, who have to fight their lot in life.
It only took a parent-teacher night for Lancer to connect the dots and has since been working on a way to help with Mr Baxter's troubled home life.
At last the boy had confided in him somewhat. So hopefully they would soon make progress and arrange for a relative to take in the boy while his father took therapy and went to AA meetings.
Things were still in the draft phase, but Lancer was confident that by the end of the school year, Mr Baxter would be able to see a safer environment for himself.
But that was one of the more straightforward cases, even if it was sensitive and worrying.
This year he had another troubled child in his class, and the problem was… Lancer knew something was wrong. But for Orwell's sake, he couldn't figure out what it was.
Danny Fenton was a complex puzzle. The signs pointed in all sorts of directions.
Some said "parental abuse" but then they said the kid was obviously well loved… even when the parents showed a concerning mix of neglect thanks to their workaholism and helicopter vigilance.
He was jumpy some days and lethargic the next, he would sleep in class or not show up at all.
His work ethic was all over the place as well. He obviously cared about his grades and his school work. Lancer could tell whenever he did turn something in.
Young Fenton also cared a lot about justice in his essays. He often pointed out the flaws and pressures society put on the characters of their fictional worlds. It somewhat extended to reality as well and Danny would call out his bullies on their behavior, almost self-sacrificially when it came to protecting his peers, but then, paradoxically he would run at the slightest sign of Amity Park typical troublesome ghosts as if even his friends' safety meant nothing to him.
Even if not by his parents, abuse was still high on the list of his theories of what made Danny so offset. Maybe more than what he’d get from bullies too, since those somehow didn't actually faze Fenton, as if he was used to much worse… and wasn't that a scary thought.
A small kid like Danny, in a small town like Amity Park couldn't be in a gang. This sounded like denial even to his own ears, since that might actually explain some things, but he also just knew that it wasn't that.
There were several signs missing for that scenario, and overall Daniel's personality and sense of justice wouldn't allow it.
Much more likely would be that the kid was actively looking for fights by butting into bad people's business. Maybe vigilantism of sorts.
But again, Amity Park just wasn't that big of a town to make this theory make sense.
William put down the pen and rubbed his face exhaustedly.
He had already visited the Fenton home, had spoken with Jasmine and even attempted to get something out of Danny directly. But nothing had led anywhere so far.
And tonight wouldn't get him anywhere else either.
With a sigh he decided to take a break and go for a walk. It was almost dark and the air should be refreshingly crisp.
After another spine popping stretch he got up and made a detour to the kitchen. He might as well take out the trash.
The building was quiet when he left his apartment. Only some sounds of TVs or Radios filtered through the closed doors of his fellow tenants.
The air outside was fresh bordering on cold and if he hadn't brought the trash with him he might have reconsidered stepping out of his home.
So he hunched his shoulders a bit as he made his way around the building, bracing against some breeze that cut through his shirt and made him shiver.
The bag was thrown away quickly and he was already turning around when he heard something.
A groan. Of pain. Lancer turned back towards the alley and squinted into the shadows while reaching for his phone in case he was about to be mugged or attacked by a ghost.
Once he had it ready to call the emergency line, he held his breath and listened.
Had he imagined it? He wasn't sure. The dark always spurred on his paranoia.
But after a moment he heard another muffled gasp. Something was there.
"Hello? Do you need help?" he called carefully into the dark as his heart picked up pace.
Then he noticed: No… not dark.
Something was illuminating the alley. He hadn't realized at first, but now that his eyes were adjusting he could make out a faint green glow coming from next to a dumpster further back.
"If you're okay, say so, otherwise I will come over now, please stay calm, I just want to help" Lancer announced with false confidence. His heart was beating a mile a minute in anticipation and sweat was starting to form at the back of his neck.
Someone who was hurt or scared might lash out and he was not sure how to deal with that. William Lancer wasn't a fighter after all, so he relied on language to project his intentions and hoped for the best.
There wasn't a reply other than some irregular breathing and more sounds of someone in pain.
He was almost there when the mystery person ( because this was too loud for a rat, and what else would take breaths like that, if not a person?) did gasp something out that Lancer couldn't quite catch but sounded a lot like "Stay away". But even though Lancer couldn't quite understand it, his heart skipped. The voice sounded young. And scared.
Dread filled him and Lancer stopped his stalling. He took the last few steps and when he reached the dumpster and peered in the gap beside it, it gave away to a short figure, bracing itself against the side of the container and clutching their side. Not a Person. Not a human. Yet someone very familiar was huddled in the gap.
Toxic green eyes stared up at him with hostility and apprehension.
"I said, stay. Away." Phantom snarled with bared teeth.
His whole posture, no, the whole aura around Phantom, radiated danger.
Lancer's phone clattered on the stone floor of the alley as he staggered a few steps back.
Almost every instinct told him to run. To get out of here while he still could, that the thing in front of him could rip him apart. That he was facing a cornered animal.
Almost all of his instincts were sure he was in danger. Almost.
Even with all the alarm bells, Lancer forced himself to take a stuttering breath. He never had been the wisest person.
The voice sounded young. Even the second time around when there was venom and Spite and bared teeth gnashed and snarled and the oppressive threat of- no. That wasn’t what he heard when he heard the painful sounding gasps earler…  he shook his head.
Something was wrong here.
Now it was instinct against instinct. Lancer could feel them clash painfully as if it was tearing him apart. There was the desire to flee, to run, to get back to safety, to run from the beast in front of him that could disembowel him with one claw…
And then there was his instinct as a teacher that right now screamed against his fear that there was a child right in front of him and the child needed help.
He tried to look at Phantom again. Really look at him. Something he had never gotten a chance to before. Phantom right now. Was……… He couldn’t see. He couldn’t properly pin down what he was looking at. His brain screeched “Monster”, but it was more like his imagination overlaid that image.
Against the pull of his mind, he slowly crouched down to eye level with the ghost, who still stared at him with his teeth bared and coiled to strike growling and hissing at him to back off…
Lancer squinted at the figure again and tried to really look. It was as if there was a filter. As if something prevented him from really seeing the creature in front of him-
Like an optical illusion or an after image all conjured up by his fears.
"I said. Get away." Phantom…. snarled?… no. It wasn't a threat, it sounded more like you'd expected someone in pain to sound. Something more like a plea to be left alone. Not aggression, but desperation.
Lancer blinked a few times against the weird haze of confusion. Phantom wasn't coiled to strike either, he was fighting to even stay crouching. Green oozed out from under his hand he had pressed to his side. His face was tense with clenched teeth against pain.
"You're hurt." he observed and something flitted over Phantom's face.
"you're hurt and you're…. you look…" William trailed off. What did Phantom look like. Like a Child? Small?... Familiar?
Phantom's expression did something complicated between pain, horror and fear. Phantom's expression, there was something about… his face…  his features. Lancer knew that face. He saw it every day he felt like. The colors felt wrong but the more he squinted against the fog, the more his mind screamed at him that this child was someone he knew and cared for. He took the figure in once more and furrowed his brows, he knew this person, why couldn't he place them-
Out of nowhere a sharp pain flashed through Lancer's head and for a moment he only saw white, he thought Phantom had done something. He clutched his head as if he had to hold it together.
Then, as sudden as it had come it disappeared.
When Lancer looked up again, with sweat on his forehead and breath coming in short bursts almost matching with the ghosts labored wheezes, whatever had been distorting his perception was gone. His vision was clear as day. No haze, no fog, no distortion.
He couldn't marvel at the phenomenon though, because now that he wasn't seeing through a filter anymore, he was no longer staring at Phantom.
The kid was the same. But there was no mistaking it.
He was without much doubt looking at his student.
Lancer had been close to a panic attack for the last few minutes now. But this was giving him whiplash. He recoiled and landed gracelessly on his butt when the realization hit him like a stack of books.
So this is what he had been missing? The big centerpiece of the puzzle? The one thing that made all his observations finally point into the same direction?
In front of him was his troubled student.
Danny Fenton. Who had white hair, green eyes, glowing skin… and was currently bleeding out behind a dumpster in an alley.
And really, there was no mistaking him. Kids dyed their hair all the time. Some of the goths even used colored contacts on a daily basis. It was impossible to look at the kid in front of him and not recognize Danny Fenton.
"Hot cat on a tin roof," he commented.
Fenton picked that moment to gasp in pain and to curl in on himself further. Barely managing to look back up at his teacher, but what Lancer saw was fear. Fear of William.
The teacher carefully reached out to his student and helped steady him by his shoulder.  He felt like ice.
"You're- Danny, you're hurt! I have so many questions right now, but first, how do I help? Can you stand? Should I call your parents? An ambulance?" he tried to sound steady, this was no time to panic, even though his student was blee- no. He had to focus on the now.
"No hospitals, it's not safe." Fenton mumbled. A bit more urgently the amended "parents don't know, you can't tell them… please."
Lancer swallowed hard, this was bad.
And immediately it got worse.
"s'ry i feel- kinda dizzy" with only that much as a warning Danny went slack under Lancer's grip who barely managed to catch the teen as he sagged against his teacher.
Then to his surprise, rings of light flashed to life and the icy body in his arms was replaced by a warm and much more familiar version of his student.
Reading Danny’s essays through this new lens was going to be an interesting endeavor from now on, William thought through stress induced amusement.

Title: The Timeless Beauty of Traditional Christian Marriages
Marriage is a sacred union that has been celebrated across cultures and religions for centuries. In the realm of Christian beliefs, the institution of marriage holds a special place, symbolizing love, commitment, and the union of two souls under the guidance of God. Traditional Christian marriages offer a profound and lasting bond characterized by virtues such as faith, love, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. This essay explores the swoon-worthy aspects of traditional Christian marriages, highlighting their enduring beauty and significance.
1. Foundation of Faith:
Traditional Christian marriages are built on a strong foundation of faith in God. The couple's shared belief in and commitment to their faith provides a guiding light throughout their journey together. This spiritual connection fosters a profound sense of purpose, enabling them to face challenges with resilience and seek solace in times of hardship. A shared faith also empowers them to grow individually and as a couple, encouraging mutual support, understanding, and forgiveness.
2. Covenant of Love:
In a traditional Christian marriage, love is not merely an emotion but a covenant. It is a selfless and sacrificial love that mirrors the love of Christ for His church. The couple commits to love and cherish one another unconditionally, through joys and sorrows, in sickness and health. This love is not based on fleeting feelings or circumstances but is an enduring commitment to honor and uplift one another, seeking the well-being and spiritual growth of their spouse above all else.
3. Mutual Submission and Servant Leadership:
Traditional Christian marriages embrace the concept of mutual submission and servant leadership. Both partners humbly serve one another, seeking to meet each other's needs and selflessly putting the other's interests above their own. This fosters an environment of respect, equality, and partnership, where decisions are made collaboratively, and both individuals are valued for their unique contributions.
4. Family Values and Legacy:
Traditional Christian marriages emphasize the importance of family values and the transmission of faith from one generation to the next. The couple becomes a foundation for their future family, providing a nurturing environment where children are raised with love, discipline, and moral guidance. The shared commitment to passing on their faith and values ensures a lasting legacy that extends beyond their own lives.
5. Celebration of Vows and Rituals:
Traditional Christian marriages are marked by meaningful vows and sacred rituals. The exchange of vows publicly declares the couple's commitment to God and to one another, witnessed by their loved ones. Rituals such as the unity candle, the blessing of rings, and the sacrament of marriage serve as powerful symbols of the couple's union, reminding them of the sacredness and solemnity of their commitment.
Traditional Christian marriages embody the timeless beauty of love, faith, and commitment. They are rooted in the foundation of faith and guided by the principles of mutual submission, sacrificial love, and servant leadership. These marriages foster an environment of respect, equality, and partnership, nurturing the growth of both individuals and their family. Through meaningful rituals and the celebration of vows, traditional Christian marriages provide a profound sense of purpose, offering a swoon-worthy union that stands the test of time.

Essay by film critic Farran Smith Nehme
Tumblr media
The most transgressive film produced by a major American studio in the 1930s, Tod Browning’s crowning achievement has haunted the margins of cinema for nearly one hundred years. An unforgettable cast of real-life sideshow performers portray the entertainers in a traveling circus who, shunned by mainstream society, live according to their own code—one of radical acceptance for the fellow oppressed and, as the show’s beautiful but cruel trapeze artist learns, of terrifying retribution for those who cross them. Received with revulsion by viewers upon its initial release, Freaks effectively ended Browning’s career but can now be seen for what it is: an audacious cry for understanding and a singular experience of nightmarish, almost avant-garde power.
Tumblr media
The most celebrated and exquisitely perverse of the many collaborations between Tod Browning and his legendary leading man Lon Chaney, The Unknown features a wrenchingly physical performance from “the Man of a Thousand Faces” as the armless Spanish knife thrower Alonzo (he flings daggers with his feet) whose dastardly infatuation with his beautiful assistant (Joan Crawford)—a woman, it just so happens, who cannot bear to be touched by the hands of any man—drives him to unspeakable extremes. Sadomasochistic obsession, deception, murder, disfigurement, and a spectacular Grand Guignol climax—Browning wrings every last frisson from the lurid premise.
Tumblr media
A fantastically atmospheric but rarely seen missing link in the development of Tod Browning’s artistry, set amid his favored milieu of shadowy sideshows and clever criminals, The Mystic provides a striking showcase for silent-era diva Aileen Pringle, who sports a series of memorably outré looks (courtesy of art-deco designer Erté) as Zara, a phony psychic in a Hungarian carnival who, under the guidance of a Svengali-like con man (Conway Tearle), crashes—and proceeds to swindle—American high society. Browning’s fascination with the weird is on full display in the eerie séance sequences, while his subversive moral ambiguity extends surprising sympathy to even the most seemingly irredeemable of antiheroes.

Deep dives into folklore: Greek heroes
Tumblr media
Greek heroes, the legendary figures of ancient mythology, stand as towering symbols of valor, tragedy, and the inexorable pull of destiny. This deep dive essay explores the rich and complex world of Greek heroes, examining their origins, defining characteristics, and enduring impact on literature, culture, and the human psyche.
I. Origins and Archetypes:
The roots of Greek heroism can be traced to the Mycenaean and Minoan civilizations, where stories of exceptional individuals with divine parentage or guidance first emerged. These early narratives set the stage for the archetypal hero—a mortal endowed with extraordinary strength, intellect, or skill, often blessed or cursed by interactions with the gods. Over time, these tales coalesced into the epic poems of Homer, specifically the "Iliad" and the "Odyssey," immortalizing heroes like Achilles and Odysseus.
II. Heroic Characteristics:
Greek heroes possess a distinct set of characteristics that define their essence. They are often born of both divine and mortal lineage, embodying the bridge between the mortal and divine realms. Physical prowess, unparalleled skill in battle, and a tragic flaw, or hamartia, are common attributes. Yet, what sets Greek heroes apart is their arête, a concept encompassing excellence, virtue, and a pursuit of one's fullest potential.
III. The Heroic Cycle and Quests:
The hero's journey, a recurring motif in Greek mythology, follows a pattern known as the heroic cycle or monomyth. Heroes embark on quests, facing trials, battles, and encounters with supernatural beings. These quests are often framed by a call to adventure, encounters with mentors or allies, and the ultimate confrontation with a formidable foe or challenge. Perseus's quest to slay Medusa or Jason's pursuit of the Golden Fleece exemplify the hero's journey and the transformative nature of these mythic adventures.
IV. Divine Intervention and Tragedy:
Greek heroes grapple not only with mortal adversaries but also with the whims of capricious gods. Divine intervention shapes their fates, with deities either aiding or hindering their quests. Yet, the looming shadow of tragedy hangs over many Greek heroes, as their exceptional abilities often come at the cost of profound personal suffering. The tragic fate of Oedipus, condemned by his own actions and divine prophecies, epitomizes the inescapable forces that shape the lives of these mythic figures.
V. Achilles and the Warrior Ethos:
Achilles, the quintessential Greek hero, embodies the complex interplay between glory, mortality, and divine favor. The "Iliad" portrays him as a warrior of unparalleled skill, driven by a desire for immortal fame. His internal conflict between a short, glorious life and a long, unremarkable one encapsulates the tension inherent in the heroic ethos. Achilles' story also explores themes of friendship, loss, and the inevitability of death, resonating with audiences across time.
VI. Legacy in Literature and Culture:
The influence of Greek heroes extends far beyond the ancient world. From classical tragedies like Sophocles' "Oedipus Rex" and Euripides' "Medea" to the Renaissance reinterpretations by Shakespeare and the modern retellings in literature and film, Greek heroes continue to inspire and captivate. Their struggles, triumphs, and tragic downfalls serve as timeless reflections of the human experience, exploring themes of mortality, hubris, and the pursuit of excellence.
Greek heroes, with their divine origins, heroic characteristics, and tragic destinies, form an integral part of the mythic tapestry that weaves together the collective imagination of humanity. Through their enduring stories, these mythical figures have transcended time, providing insights into the complexities of human nature, the pursuit of excellence, and the enduring quest for meaning in the face of mortality. As we continue to grapple with the challenges of our own journeys, the legacy of Greek heroes reminds us that the echoes of their valor, tragedy, and divine destiny resonate across the ages.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
luffy & zoro — the sun & the moon
this became less of a headcanon in the end and more of my own self-indulgent character analysis, but the first thought that popped into my head when I saw 'moon' in relation to luffy was "oh that's zoro — he's luffy's moon." where luffy is an obvious depiction of the sun, so much so that he wields a sun god's devil fruit, zoro is his opposite in many ways, as the moon is opposite to the sun.
in literature and folklore, the sun is a symbol of warmth, energy, heroism, joy, life, and an uncontrollable force, all of which are characteristics that luffy embodies ( regardless of how much he doesn't want to be seen as a hero ). in contrast, the moon is frequently seen as a symbol of guidance, wisdom, passivity, calm, and devotion. yes, guidance and wisdom at first glance are not key characteristics that people would use to first describe zoro, but more than once he has acted as an advisor to luffy, providing his own version of guidance and wisdom to his captain when filling his role of trusted first mate.
that being said, where luffy is full of energy, zoro is usually calm and low energy, and where luffy is the uncontrollable force that does what he wants, fights what he wants when he wants, zoro is content to go with the flow and follow whatever luffy wants to do. and of course, there is no one quite as devoted to luffy as zoro is.
frequently in mythology and folklore, the sun and moon are also depicted as deities closely associated with each other in some embodiment of a close relationship. in fact, a common theme includes the sun and moon traveling the world together, but at some point getting split apart ( to explain the concept of night and day ). this is something seen in luffy and zoro's partnership a lot as well, whether due to getting separated during an arc to fight their respective battles, or in the case of their separation after marineford, where we even see the day and night symbolism depicted in their respective locations apart from each other: luffy's presence on daylit amazon lily and zoro in perpetual night time on kuraigana island.
at the end of the day though, the sun always illuminates the moon. even when separated by the earth between them ( in the case of lunar eclipses ), the sun's light manages to refract onto the moon through the earth's atmosphere. in the same way, even when physically separated, luffy's warmth and light still inspires zoro to fight for him, and the knowledge of zoro's cool reliability in return is a reminder to luffy that he doesn't have to worry about his number two or the others when focusing on his own all-out fights.
anyway yes, if you made it this far, thank you for reading my little extended metaphor essay~

Hello Shi-Shi! It’s already been two months already and I am dumbfounded at how fast time goes, I swear it was just the start of June yesterday haha. I hope you are doing well!
Not much has happened since I last spoke unfortunately. I had Softball provincials last weekend so that’s exciting! We didn’t win or anything, but we played good and I’m kinda sad it ended so soon. Where I am, we’ve had a lot of rain so lots of my games were cancelled this year, unfortunately.
I’m still learning to driving! I’ve gotten better, definitely, but I still need a bit of guidance and help sometimes, especially when driving through the city. I really enjoy driving; it’s unfortunate that schools ended so now I don’t get to drive to school every morning and drive back, but I love the times that I do get to drive.
I’ve seen your recent artworks and I absolutely love them! I’m sure you’ve seen me pop up every now and then to like your posts. The Bluestreak one, with its beautiful colours and all that, is perhaps my favourite (I may be slightly biased as Bluestreak is one of my favourite TF characters,,) but all the others are wonderful too! Especially the Ratchet one haha, he looks so confused or traumatized. I also love the two grumpy children and the happy baby bug, they are all so beautiful ^^.
And the Mermay drawing of Leona! That one is so gorgeous, he looks so cheeky and the lighting is so well done! All the details, it’s just *chefs kiss*. I didn’t make anything for Mermay this year unfortunately (or maybe I did,, I’m not sure anymore, I’ve been on a drawing roll with a lot of drawings, I’m making a humanformers Jazz/Prowl right now!)
I think after all this text, that’s it haha. Don’t want to make this a whole essay, after all. I hope you have a good day/night, Shi-Shi!
-Meister/Vexian?
Hi there Meister! It's nice to see you again! I saw your message in my inbox and gave a little hop. Time really does fly doesn't it?
Tumblr media
I'm sorry to hear that you were rained out for so much of your season. That being said, I think that so long as you had a good time with the games you played, it's a good season.
I didn't drive myself to school until college, so I had a different learning curve than yours. I also didn't enjoy driving just because it takes a while to get from Point A to Point B where I live, but I can say that learning to drive is definitely a slow process. If you like doing it, you'll be driving well and comfortably quickly (a lot faster than I did hehe).
I'm very happy you liked my latest pieces. I've been stuck in an extended rut and have had to fight tooth-and-nail for every picture I draw. But returning to comfort characters (I too have a soft spot for Bluestreak) and putting some of my more ambitious projects on hold has helped a little. Mermay is the only art-event-thingie I actually try to put something out for, and as I said on the Leona picture, I BARELY squeaked him in. Getting art ready for a prompt like Mermay or Inktober for example, can be a challenge so more often than not I'm in the same boat of "didn't make anything for it this year" Kind of like how I always say "I'll make it to the art-fight next time" and never do lol
I'm glad to hear from you and happy that you're doing well Meister, or would you rather I use Vexian now? I wish you good luck on your art pieces and that drawing roll will continue~ Have a wonderful day/night
