but beyond the active hate or condescending attitudes, the actual ignorance towards like… how fat bodies work and look despite a large number of americans fitting some definitions of fat is so funny
cause like tell me why every time i donate blood or need bloodwork done, the person trying to find a place to stick the needle in always asks me for tragic backstory for the marks on the inside of my arms as if i had an awful inner arm accident

like… sir and/or ma’am those are stretch marks. it doesn’t matter what weight i’ve been at, whether it has been at my skinniest or fattest, the sight of stretch marks is literally baffling to them?? including to my regular doctor, who on the whole works very hard to not be fatphobic and literally never brought up my weight as a concern beyond asking if I felt happy with myself.
like i do not understand how COMMON fatness is and yet even the most basic things that come with being fat are confounding to medical professionals??
and then you begin to realize why some doctors, even “well intentioned” ones, back out of doing medical procedures on fat patients. like they literally do not have the knowledge or skill set for even the mildest difference in body types
