You loved the frat brothers of Nu Chi Theta, you really did. They had welcomed you with open arms, they made sure to clean (kind of) when you went over, at least one bathroom was left spotless for your use in the frat house, most, if not all, of them were friends for a life time, and they treated you like you were one of their own. Which meant that frat outings, fundraisers, events, and bonding activities also included you.

Most of the time you loved being included, you loved the camaraderie, you didn't feel left out or out of place in any way, but sometimes, like today, you wished they could just leave you out. Realistically speaking, why did you, Fratboy!Jaehyun's girlfriend, have to be on the frat bonding hike that started at six in the morning? Did Taeyong, Johnny, Haechan, and Jaehyun all technically emotionally manipulate you into coming? Yes. Were you promised a large coffee and a huge breakfast for free after the hike? Also yes, but that didn't mean the act of hiking so early was going to suck any less.

Honestly speaking, everything was fine. Once you woke up with the cold air and got your muscles, moving you were doing fine, but it was summer. That meant that the cool air lasted for all of an hour before the sun started to heat everything up and make everyone sweat and stink. Plus, Jaehyun looking absolutely yummy in a backwards baseball cap motivated you enough to keep going. Luckily, before it got too hot, you had all reached the peak and were making your way back down.

You and Jaehyun were at the back of the group, Haechan and Mark just a few feet ahead while Johnny and Doyoung led the crew back down the trail. It was more leisurely heading back down, and you took this opportunity to admire the beautiful nature around you. The trees were huge and towered over all of you and led up to the right blue sky. Luscious shades of green surrounded you all, and the fresh air mixed with the earthy scent of dirt and pine filled your lungs. You had also slowed down since you and Haechan had a little prank up your sleeve...

Jahyun's hand was clasped tightly with yours as he led you over a rough patch of the trail. "God, it's so beautiful out here," you exhaled dreamily which led to Jaehyun mumbling out an agreement. You kept your hand tightly encased with his, keeping your voice light and happy, "no one would hear you scream." You even slow your gait so you fall behind from the group just the slightest bit.

Jaehyun's eyes widen as he stumbles over a hole and picks up his speed, "what the hell did you just say?"

You smile at him, squeezing his hand, "I said it looks like a dream."

You hear Mark and Haechan laughing, the latter wheezing and stopping in the middle of the path. You try to keep your own laughs in as you both come to a stop behind Haechan. Mark stops a few feet ahead of you guys, taking a sip from his water before grabbing Haechan's and handing it to him.

"He's taking up the path, want to take a short cut back?" you ask Jaehyun in an all too happy tone.

His eyes widen and he struggles to pull his hand out of your hold, "fuck no, I mean- no. No, we better stay with the group. I need to stretch my legs some more. Let's get going. Mark! You're with me now, you and Haechan in front of us. I need eyes on you at all times, sweetheart."

You shrug nonchalantly and begin walking ahead of Jaehyun and Mark. Haechan walks beside you for a few minutes, all of you enjoying the serenity that comes with being out in nature. You inconspicuously lean into Haechan, keeping your voice low, "did you get it?"

"Absolutely," he answers while showing you the video in his camera roll, ready to be sent to you to post.

For the rest of the day, Jaehyun keeps an uncharacteristic amount of space between the two of you. He doesn't even get annoyed or upset that you and Haechan are attached at the hip. At breakfast, he gulps as he watches you pour everyone their coffee at the diner and then waits until everyone has had a sip before he even thinks about drinking from his own. He makes Mark take a drink from his mug and when Mark doesn't react strangely, he breathes out a sigh of relief, finally drinking his own coffee.

By the end of the day he's been so weirdly on edge around you that he just feels his nervous energy changing his overall vibe. You enter his room, wrapping your hair in a towel as you toss your dirty clothes into his hamper, mumbling something about doing the laundry before you head back to your place.

"You wouldn't actually do anything to me right? Like anything scary?" Jaehyun asks you suddenly.

You freeze, turning to him with furrowed brows, "not unless you asked me to and we both agreed to it, why? Or maybe if it was like Halloween or a prank."

Jaehyun feels a weight off his shoulders, and replies with a deep exhale, "no reason, sweetie."

Sleeping is supposed to be something pleasant. It usually reduces stress and improves your mood. It’s the favorite activity of many people—in fact, it used to be yours too.

Until insomnia and nightmares began. At first, they weren't that bad; they scared you a bit, but nothing more. Then they became terrible, making you feel so awful you wanted to throw up, which led to unstoppable insomnia.

You used to sleep maybe 3 hours a day at most, and it was killing you. Not only were you unbearably tired all day, but you also had a mood so bad that even you couldn’t stand yourself. As a result, you started treating people around you poorly, which made you feel awful, but at this point, it was beyond your control.

You hadn’t told anyone either—you didn’t want to worry anyone unnecessarily. It wasn’t needed. You were probably just going through a rough patch. Maybe Mercury was in retrograde.

“Hey.” Spencer’s face greeted you when you opened your apartment door to let him in.

“Hi,” you replied with a small smile.

“I really missed you,” he said as he walked into your apartment, planting a kiss on your forehead.

You smiled. “Really? I missed you too,” you said sincerely. “You were gone for a few days.” Spencer’s job often required him to be away, and you handled it pretty well.

“Yeah, the case was tough,” he explained as he placed some bags in your kitchen. “How’ve you been?”

“Me? Well... good, I guess. Nothing new,” you shrugged.

“Are you sure?” He raised his eyebrows, questioning you.

“Yeah, don’t worry.” You looked away, feeling uncomfortable.

Again, you didn’t feel comfortable telling anyone that you hadn’t been able to sleep properly for weeks. There was no point in saying it.

“What’s in the bags?” You pointed at them, trying to change the subject.

“Oh, I read that green tea increases the body's relaxation capacity and helps with sleep. Plus, the amount of L-theanine is higher than caffeine, so it’s a great option to avoid insomnia,” he explained while taking the tea out of the bags.

“You think I need that? Why would you think that?” you said, your mood shifting a bit.

“What? No, I don’t think you need it. I just thought it’d be good to have to relax a bit. Personally, I’m sleeping fine, but I don’t see any harm in drinking it,” he said, looking at you.

“Well, I’m sleeping great too, so I don’t need it, okay?” There it was again. You had no idea why you were treating him this way—he hadn’t done anything wrong.

“I never said otherwise,” he said, frowning.

“Good.” You looked at the floor, feeling uncomfortable.

“Hey, are you sure you’re okay—”

“I’m perfectly fine,” you interrupted him and walked out of the kitchen.

You entered the bathroom in your room and splashed some water on your face, hoping it would refresh you. You looked at yourself in the mirror. You were a bit pale, with dark circles under your eyes that you hadn’t had in years, and your lips were dry. You felt terrible—like a completely different person.

But you decided that if you stayed there any longer, Spencer would come looking for you, and you’d have to give explanations you weren’t willing to share.

When you got back to the living room, you saw him sitting on the couch with his cup of tea and another cup next to him that was probably cold by now.

And you felt horrible.

Horrible wasn’t even enough to describe it.

He had bought and made tea just to help you relax a bit, even without knowing that this was the very thing driving you crazy.

And you had responded terribly.

“Spencer, I—” You tried to start.

“I think it’s better if we just go to bed, don’t you? It’s been a long day,” he said, getting up from the couch.

“Uhh... yeah, sure,” you whispered, staring at the floor.

Your heart was racing, sweat was running down your forehead and neck, and your head was spinning as you tried to push away the dreams that had been tormenting you.

“Hey,” you heard a voice in the distance. “Hey, listen to me, love, hey,” the voice repeated in your head.

“Hey!”

You suddenly sat up in bed, completely disoriented.

“Hey, you’re okay, right? You’re here with me,” Spencer said, looking at you while placing his hand on your knee. But you couldn’t really hear him. Your head was ringing so loudly it felt like it was going to explode.

“Sweetheart?” Spencer stroked your cheek, concerned.

Suddenly, you regained a bit of awareness. You looked at him and his worried face, then around the room. The clock read 12:38 AM. Your hands were sweating, and you were cold.

All of a sudden, everything you’d been carrying for weeks collapsed. It just fell apart, and you started crying like you hadn’t in a long time.

“Oh my God,” Spencer whispered as he wrapped you in his arms, holding you tightly.

“I’m so tired,” you sobbed into his neck.

“What’s going on, love? I need you to tell me, okay? So I can help you,” he whispered in your ear, his voice soft.

“I haven’t been able to sleep for a few weeks now,” you mumbled against him. “I have insomnia and lots of nightmares. I can’t take it anymore.”

“Why didn’t you tell me anything?” he asked, gently cupping your face in his hands.

“I—I don’t know,” you sobbed. “I didn’t want to bother you, and I didn’t want to seem weak, I—” You stumbled over your words.

“Don’t say that. You could never bother me, especially not with something this important. It’s serious, and I don’t think you’re taking it seriously enough,” he said, looking at you with his kind brown eyes, caressing your cheek with his thumb.

“I thought I was just having a few bad days, I don’t know—” you tried to explain through your tears.

“It’s okay, we can work through this. Tomorrow, we can see your therapist and check on how you’re doing, alright?” he said, kissing your forehead.

You nodded without saying anything, feeling safe.

“Let’s get that tea, yeah? I’m sure it’ll calm you down a bit—unless you don’t want it now either, hmm?” he teased you a little.

You let out a small laugh. “I want it.”

“Good, because I was going to make you drink it anyway,” he laughed with you.

“Hey!” you frowned.

“Don’t give me that face,” he said, kissing your furrowed brow.

“Thank you,” you said genuinely.

“For what? For making you drink tea?” he laughed.

“No, silly. For helping me, even though I didn’t treat you very well tonight,” you said, looking at the floor.

“Are you kidding? Of course, I’ll help you. It’s the least I can do. I love you, okay?”

So, I was trying to think of something to req before dropping the MerMay one... but I couldn't think of anything, plus May is less than ten days away, so I've decided to say screw it and just get right to the Mermaids!!!

Took some time figuring out who was gonna be the muse of this req, but I've been feeling the pull towards Clorinde. Might start out a bit angsty, but it gets better!

Clorinde's out in the wilderness, taking some time to herself, maybe doing some training to hone her skills, when she hears a cry. Not a call for help per say, but definitely the sound of someone in distress, and so decides to investigate, coming across the reader tangled up in some kind of net, and seemingly injured, especially around her tail.

After calming Mermaid!Reader down and convincing her that she wasn't their to hurt her, Clorinde cuts her free, and not wanting to just leave her where she is, in her condition, sneakily brings her back to her place so that she can patch her up and look over her while she recovers.

Clorinde rarely ever had day's off from work.

There was always something to do, something to fight, something to take care of. Her life was never quiet and calm, the hectic chaos always following her around one way or another. But she wasn't the one to ever complain. Taking everything in elegant stride, she easily completed every task, no matter the difficulty.

But today... well, today was the one calm day she did allow herself. Not necessarily completely by choice, but after some pressure from her higher ups to take a well-deserved break, she decided that it wouldn't hurt.

That's how she ended up calmly walking alongside the shore near the sleeping city she called her home, the moon brightly lighting up the way before her.

Clorinde had no real destination in mind. This was just her way of winding down, as she thought of what to do tomorrow. It was always so hard to figure out an activity if it didn't revolve around work or direct orders. Should she maybe just sleep in? Ah, no, she needs to stay disciplined. What about training then? That sounded more enjoyable... but was that really a break from work then? Not necessarily... Should she maybe just take another walk at noon around the bustling city instead? Or perhaps visit one of her friends? Although... they could be busy with their own line of work and she wasn't the one to ever get in the way of that.

Hm.

This was hard.

Sighing to herself, she came to a stop, conflicted eyes finding the stars that spread out across the nightsky beautifully. She needed to learn how to live in the moment. But it was hard, when all she was used to was the chaos of other people's worries and wrongs. It was always this way and yet... her discipline hid a restlessness in her that she couldn't shake no matter how many years passed.

This is why she hated taking day's off... these thoughts were really pointless.

Shaking her head idly to herself, she figured it was time to go home, when she suddenly heard it. A small, frail noise, that sounded like the cry of a wounded animal. Her hand came down to rest on the hilt of her sword, knowing that poachers enjoyed to crawl around the shadows at this time of the early morning hours. But she wasn't afraid, if anything only concerned for the poor animal that may have gotten hurt.

And so, the woman carefully made her way towards the noise, eyes narrowed in distrust at anything that moved. The sound seemed to come from behind a large rock formation, hidden away from plain sight, which forced her to lean over it with slight difficulty. What she saw left her in awe.

There, weakly attempting to flee a tight fishing net, was a... Mermaid? Is that what you would call a half human, half fish? Well, it's the best thing her mind could come up with, as she stared at her in absolute confusion. This is definitely a first. Despite everything the woman had seen before, unnatural and natural alike, it never crossed her mind that mermaids could exist. They were simply creatures from legends and old folklore to her, even with the existence of dragons and Melusines.

Clorinde only snapped out of it, when the mermaid let out a frightened yelp at the sight of her, eyes wide in terror. Said woman was quick to raise her hands in response, hoping it would signal that she was no threat. "Hey... don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you..." Clorinde's eyes trailed to your clearly injured tail, the blood dying the water around you read. It seemed like you were attacked, potentially by the poachers she suspected to be around earlier. Had they attempted to capture you? Seemed likely, from the net that wrapped itself around your frail form in a tangled mess.

You pushed your body closer to the rock you were trapped against, as you curled yourself away from her. You were shaking and trembling, clearly horrified by her mere existence. This made Clorinde wonder if you even understood what she was saying.

Probably not.

Now that she finally had recovered from the shock of seeing you, she was able to somewhat think analytically again. The first things she definitely had to do, was take care of your wound and free you from the net. Sighing, she slowly kneeled close enough to you to grab the net, uncaring of the water that drenched her uniforms tights and skirt. "I'm just going to cut the rope so I can take of your wound, alright? You'll bleed out otherwise." Again, no verbal, human response, except for a scared and pained whimper.

Would it really be that unbelievable, that mermaids couldn't speak human languages? No. But it definitely made things harder.

Reaching for a simple dagger on her hip, she held it out for you to see, eyes locked onto yours with a comforting glint in them. "I'm going to use this now. Just hold still, so you don't get injured further." When she lowered the blade and began cutting off the rope, you seemed to slowly relax under her focused gaze. "Good job." She hummed, hoping you can understand the praise in her voice at least. By the time she had finally finished cutting away the last of the net, you were just calmly staring at her, albeit with a heavy breath. Most likely from the pain of your injury.

Taking off her jacket, she ripped off a part of her white sleeved dress-shirt underneath, as she needed something to stop the bleeding. You flinched, when her fingers touched the beautiful scales of your tail, small chirp like sounds escaping your lips. Is that how you communicated? It sounded foreign and odd, but then again, your existence was bizarre enough as is. "I have to stop the bleeding. It might sting, but you'll be okay." Clorinde hummed, as she slowly and carefully began to wrap the fabric around the injury. It would definitely need better medical attention later... which means that can't let you go back into the ocean like this. You wouldn't survive the night at this rate... and the poachers may still be out there looking for you.

So... she needs to take you home with her. That was the only realistic solution she could come up with, mainly because there was no way she could explain your existence to anyone without sounding crazy... and because she felt like she owed it to you, after you've given her your trust. She could only imagine how scary it must've been to be taken care of by a strange human... but at least it was her and no one else, she supposed with a tired sigh.

Chaos really did follow her everywhere. But the hardest part of this task hadn't been completed yet. How was she supposed to smuggle in an entire mythical creature? For most, this may have been an impossible challenge, but Clorinde knew her way around the City perfectly even in the dead of night.

Sitting up, she looked around, eyes finding the glimmering surface of the ocean further away. Did you have family members? Would they be looking for you? If she was able to heal you fast enough, she hoped to release you back to them soon... if you even had anyone else in this vast body of water.

"... I have to take you back with me, so you need to stay quiet... Oh." You had fallen asleep from the exhaustion, leaving Clorinde to ponder on her own. "That makes things easier, I guess." She muttered, as she placed her jacket over your damp shoulders and carefully picked you up with ease.

She was holding a real life mermaid... was she dreaming? Or was she losing it from the lack of breaks from work? Archons know. But she was quick to make her way back to her home, before dawn arrived, lest guards caught her with you out here.

Where does one place a slumbering mermaid in their home?

A question one would expect from a children's book was now her reality, as she successfully made it back home with you and now stood in her living room, dumbfounded. Her eyes slowly drifted to her bathroom door, the first rays of the morning sun near blinding her, when she entered the room in uncertainty.

In the bathtub, ofcourse.

Trying her best to not wake you up, she placed you in the white tub and carefully filled it with some lukewarm water. You seemed to breathe air well enough at least... but all fish need water somehow, right?

As she began tending to your wound with more suitable supplies at hand, she attempted to plan out her next moves. Did she need to tell anyone about you? Some help would definitely go a long way, but the last thing she wanted was for someone to disturb you or worse... experiment on you. Not that she believed that mad scientists were running around Fountain, but she'd rather not anyone get their hands on you further than she has. As much as she didn't want to, she saw you the same way one would see an endangered species.

The stool she sat on wobbled a little as she wiped down the injury and began bandaging it tightly to stop it from bleeding any further.

Ofcourse, she could maybe only get some people involved. People she trusted. People she considered her friends. Especially seeing as she only had one day off. This one day being today too. She wouldn't be able to take care of you fully on the days afterwards and she doubted you'd be able to survive on your own like this. You can't even get up and walk to get some food... which now begged another question...

A terrible joke, and yet she could hear her old friend Wriothesley grinning widely at it in triumph as she rolled her eyes. That wasn't a helpful thought either... was it even right to treat you like a goldfish? Or were you just as human as she was? Completely unsure if your mental capacity, she decided to leave that to be a problem for later.

Since you were sleeping for now, she decided to rest herself. Clorinde could figure everything out further later, when she wasn't so terribly exhausted.

Groaning quietly, the navy haired woman rolled over in her bed, eyes cracking open as they found her turned off alarm clock.

9:34 am.

Just what was that sound? Sitting up, she rubbed her eyes, as she tried to make sense of it. Deciding to investigate, albeit practically still half asleep, she uncharacteristically stumbled to the source of it. Carefully pushing the bathroom door open, she immideatly sobered up from her previous slumber, when she saw your wide, curious eyes stare back at her.

"Ah... yeah... I remember now." She muttered in disbelief whilst leaning against the doorway. You were actually real... so she wasn't going crazy AND she wasn't dreaming? She couldn't find any relief in even that now.

"... Good morning. Are you feeling any better?" She asked, as she cautiously approached you, hoping to not scare you that way. Her eyes looked over the bandages on your tail and was quick to change it for new ones, whilst you let her with a tilt of your head. At least you weren't scared anymore, she figured with a sigh once she was done.

A grumble suddenly escaped from your stomach however, and you didn't need to use words to tell her that you were hungry... but once again, she had to wonder what you could even eat. "Wait here, okay?" That felt silly to say, she realised whilst she made her way to the kitchen. It's not like you could... walk out of here.

Opening her freezer and fridge, she began scouring for something you could potentially eat. A couple frozen fish and some fruits and vegetables she cut up for you. She asked, although she knew you couldn't really answer her even if you did have one. "... My name is Clorinde." She continued, yet sighed as you tilted your head at her. Talking to you was pointless and yet she couldn't help it. Shaking her head, she was about to get up and leave, when she heard your soft voice speak up next to her.

"Cl... Clor..." Sitting up in surprise, she watched your confused face attempt to pronounce her name "Clori...nnnn...de? Clor... inde?" Not exactly. But it was still fascinating to hear. You were able to speak after all, albeit with extreme difficulty. Speaking and speaking however and you were just attempting to say her name. "... Yeah, Clorinde. My name is Clorinde." She repeated, the ghost of a smile on her lips. You grinned widely, a happy chirp leaving you in triumph as you continued to eat as though nothing happened. As if you hadn't just achieved something she didn't think you ever could.

The day was getting weirder and weirder to say the least.

But there was still one thing she had to do, before she got ready to go and call one of her friends for help. Clorinde was determined to give you a name at least.

"... I guess (Y/N) will do for now."

When you gave her another happy chirp and grin, she considered that task completed successfully.

a tip for people with trichotillomania: if youre looking for an alternate activity to replace hair pulling, you should consider getting into textile art, something like weaving - especially forms of weaving that you can do anywhere:

crochet

lacemaking (crochet, but smaller)

hand weaving

weaving on a hand loom

ive been struggling with trich for a long time and none of the many alternate activities and stim toys ive tried have helped or stuck for long - but weaving has been a huge game changer for me because by weaving i'm giving myself the "pulling" sensation that i'm seeking without pain or shame, PLUS i get the satisfaction of having a lovely art piece at the end!

despite what the internet will tell you, weaving is actually very cheap and easy to pick up if youre physically able to do it, have access to some kind of yarn, thread, paper, or grass, and if youre willing to make mistakes.

this fall/winter im planning on making a guide on how to get started weaving for beginners, and i'll post it on here when i do. in the meantime feel free to send me questions and i'll respond when i can :)

Cyn (the original Cyn)'s conciousness is there, but is suppressed and dormant much like Doll's was when the Solver ate her core.

Yes! Doll and Cyn will get their own bodies when the Solver is defeated again and they rescue Uzi's core. A single body couldn't handle their codes once they activated (and for Uzi's sanity) they extract Doll and Cyn's codes and place them into new cores and bodies. However, the Solver's code is permanently intertwined with Uzi's code, so Uzi is still stuck with it lol

Doll, and even Cyn, still have their Solver powers as well.

The new bodies they receive are preloaded with the patch, so they are all virus free!

This is a pretty good summary and explanation of what the hell has been going on in Infinity Nikki, if you have any interest but aren’t in the thick of it.

After a lot of discussion on the IN reddit, I think what happened at Nikki HQ was something like:

Devs: We have a really fun update in the works for 1.5, a new group of stonetree islands to explore with new Esselings to fight and a rich story quest all about the Pieceys. We know players are eager for more about them! Also we’re introducing dyeing and patterns for clothing, plus a special new evolution free to any fully glowed-up outfit!

Suit: What about the Steam launch? This isn’t cool enough for all the new players signing up. We want the wow factor. You know what the kids like? Multiplayer co-op. Doesn’t that Sea of Stars thing you’re working on have that?

Devs: Yes, but it’s not ready for launch yet, it’s still buggy and we haven’t created all the activities we want to offer. We would be really concerned about player experience. Trying to rush this out at the same time as Bubble Season would compromise them both. We’ve made a lot of promises about this patch and we -

Suit: Don’t worry! It’ll be fine! Think positive!

UnderSakit Chapter 1

-Continuation-

  As the flowers swayed, their petals twisting and turning as the wind changes course. The grass following shortly, each blade having their own way with the wind, the place was peaceful. However, inside of the church was bustling with activity and liveliness, the choir were practicing their voices for clarity, musicians rereading and trying new tunes, the priestess preparing for the morning prayer, whilst some prepare by either cleaning or arranging the area, cooking food, decorating, and more. The halls were constantly filled with whispers left and right, their steps light as they made their way to their own stations for the day had just started. The sun started to rise and everyone was getting ready for the special occasion, except one. Amidst the numerous patches of flowers in the garden behind the church, was Sugat. His eye lights focused more on the bouquet he held. His thoughts wondered off as if he were in a daze, his face of mixed emotions, unsure of what he was truly feeling…

Was it GUILT? Or was it PITY? He didn’t know…

But before his thoughts got the better of him, he heard a familiar voice calling. He wanted to ignore it for he didn’t know who he was calling at all, his hand moving from the bouquet and to the porcelain surface of what he sat on, the cold surface never bothering him whilst the voice grew louder. Deciding to look up at the figure approaching, he saw him. It was a skeleton that held almost no difference from him to looks, he watched as the older skeleton drew near, after some thought, Sugat decided to stand up while letting out a sigh. Looking at the skeleton across him, thinking of the appropriate response to his antics, “Brother, why have you come at this hour? Don’t you have to help the priest setup the podium?” his voice was as calm as possible, trying to not be bothered at the fact his brother was even there. “Ah, I finished it up early so we have some free time to chat!” he spoke with such enthusiasm that Sugat couldn’t ignore, still annoyed with his child-like tone. “Really now? You know the punishments to those who disobey or skip the morning prayer…”

“Oh hush! I already did that at dawn. Plus, I assume you like the flowers I gave you, right? I grew them myself so I was sure they’re of the best quality.” Sugat shook his head at this, finding his remarks amusing. Looking down at the bouquet, seeing more roses than the other flower species in the bundle, his curiosity growing by the second as he attempted to figure the situation out, his eye lights flickering from the roses to the other flowers. The older skeleton looked down at him, finding Sugat’s questioning face cute, comparing him to a cat. He held down a chuckle before hovering his hand over his head, gently patting the top as Sugat slowly looked up, confused by his actions. Smiling down at him, his gentle smile reflecting his joy. “Roses match you.” He spoke softly, his hand still on the other’s head.

Sugat’s sockets widened at his words, his eye lights glowing in the sun as his robe ruffled against the breeze. His smile was comforting, almost like an embrace to Sugat’s soul. However, he did not want to falter to the feeling, it was a sign of weakness he shouldn’t give in into or else he’ll regret it in the future, so he shot a cold glare at the other skeleton, facing away from him whilst throwing the bouquet to the side. The skeleton stared in silent shock as the flowers hit the pavement, their petals falling off while some suffered damage to the stems. “I do not need your opinions, Sans.” And without another word, he walked away. His eyes focused on the path ahead as the other’s smile faded. A frown replacing it as watching Sugat leave in silence. He was contemplating what to do and what to say, his red marks glowing slightly in frustration, but he knew anger wouldn’t help him at all. With a heavy heart, he took the bouquet that was thrown to the side, his eye lights looking down at the assortment of flowers. Each one was grown with love and devotion and he even spent all night checking for any thorns that may prick the younger brother he treasured. And now, it is nothing but a pile of trash, the petals dull now that he saw no use of them, the ribbons that decorated each end… all a waste. He silently cursed himself before turning his head up to look sky. Watching as the clouds form different shapes, the birds flying freely as petals of that flower blew past him. The rustling of leaves as the warm rays of the sun seeped through the branches and foliage whilst the bird bath nearby splashed as a pigeon flapped its wings.

Everything was peaceful at the garden… yet he cannot find himself to smile at it all. He knew his brother wasn’t usually this grumpy or even annoyed, he knew him more than anyone else did. But somehow, he felt like he wasn’t enough for Sugat’s change of attitude, he wished it was because that he was growing up and not because he did something wrong to upset him. His only hope for now is that, if his brother hated him or not, he’ll be sure to help them. Plus, Sugat was turning five this year and-

“Sans! There you are, everyone was looking for you!”  He turned to see Chara, the adopted child of Priestess Toriel and Asgore. His sockets softened as he gave them a smile, hiding the bouquet behind his back. “Greetings Chara, what brings you here?” Sans tilted his head curiously as he looked down at them, noticing that he was still a few inches taller. Chara panted of exhaustion whilst looking up at Sans with a smile, but before they could tell him the reason, they saw his obvious smirk which confused them. “Why are you staring at me like that?”

“Hehe… shorty pants~” he teased lightly as Chara shot him a glare, unamused by his antics at all. Suddenly, a thought crossed their mind, aggressively pulling Sans by his robe and basically left him to freeze in the harsh cold. “CHARA!” Sans exclaimed in surprise as he tried to cover himself, watching as Chara ran the opposite direction. Leaving Sans in a daze due to how fast these events occurred, but after getting his bearings, he gave chase. Following them as they climbed the apple tree, their eyes full of triumph as they looked down at their friend, laughing at him as they tauntingly rubbed their face against his robe. “So warm~ I bet I can survive the cold without it. heheh…”

Anger flashed across Sans’ face at the taunt, his fists balling in rage at Chara’s audacity to even take his robe from him. He frowned at them, then a thought passed through his head which made him give Chara an evil grin, his eye lights burning with determination whilst the marks on his face glowed brightly, wanting to make the other pay back. He held his hand out as the star-like gem on his robe came to him, the gem turning into pure light then a long bone. Starting to laugh by himself as he hit the tree’s base with the weapon repeatedly, causing Chara to slowly slip as they growled at Sans’ actions. “No fair! You’re cheating!!” They protested as their eyes and the heart-shaped mark on their left shoulder glowed brightly.

“hehehehe… HAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHA!” Sans laughed as he took one last final hit, watching as Chara finally lost their balance and fell hard on the grass below.  He towered over Chara, a cruel smirk on his face as he bent slightly to take his robe back with a smirk. “I win.” They stared at him with pure rage, a scowl on their face but ultimately decided to face away and close their eyes.

"Meanie..." Chara mumbled under their breath, Sans laughed once more, smiling brightly as he sat next to Chara. "Don't be upset, we'll still be friends, right?" He held out his Pinky finger to Chara. Expecting them to twist their own pinky with his as a sign to promise, although they were hesitant, their pout slowly fading. "You're always acting like you're forcing me..." Sans flinched, holding his anger back whilst his other hand ball into a fist. Clearly irritated by Chara's remarks about his actions. "But I won't mind." They twisted their pinky with Sans'.

They both laughed at eachother. Just happy to be friends.

you were there when Souya lost his cool, and you stressed to Nahoya every time they left "do not let him get overwhelmed."

of course you send your vice commander to check on them, it's a visit that Mikey and Draken know about and approve every time

considers himself lucky that he has help with Mana and Luna, you didn't have any and you had the girls plus him to take care of

he didn't mind you running off when you needed, he understood the gang responsibilities

you often try to plan your stuff around his duties if you can, though sometimes there is a bump in the road

You used to give him rides on your motorcycle, you're the reason he rides often

Mikey allows you to show up for some of the meetings, since you like to be informed of what's going on in the turf next to yours, besides, it's good to have a relationship with the other gangs

if you're in the area of a fight between Toman and another gang, you make your guys stop and you all watch, making sure that once it's over everyone is okay and patched up

You scold Mitsuya while you wrap him up, slapping bandages on a little rougher than needed

"You do the same thing?" "I'm older! It's different!"

Please, for the love of everything on earth, ask him to mend your clothes after a fight. He wants to help.

growing up, Draken would try to keep you from arguing with them, but as a third year he'd come out of his room and just swing at you

that's a whole new problem for the brothel, aside from the cheers your guys are screaming

"Shut up, brothel boy!" "Says you, ya' titty watching bike rider!"

its funny to everyone but you two, who end up on the floor with bloody noses, he learned to fight from you after all

you'd do anything for him though, even dismantle your group

(OG timeline) when Kenny died you only slept in his room, only wore his kimono shirts, only visited his grave, there was no more of you being a leader

(Past) When Emma was killed you went with him to the funeral, gave Mikey your condolences, and waited for your brother. you even took it upon yourself to send guys to check on Toman turf and keep losers from moving in on it

Huzzah! I wrote 29 things for Fluffy February (ok, 28 things plus one very fluffy chapter for my bigger fluffy fan fic).

Highlights: I developed my canon for both Lenn Teraan and Cole Cantarus. I wrote another Akaavi/Mako piece (someone needs to write them an epic Carbonite Years fic). I posted my most explicit work so far (is that a low light?). Dr. Oggurobb has decided to weigh in a lot lately.

Apology -- 28 ATC (Between Elom and 7.3) -- Theron liberates Arcann from his job at a fast food join in Dromund Kaas by punching him in the face. No, I will not elaborate (I will totally elaborate).

Kiss -- 21 ATC -- Theron thinks about the his views on good morning kisses in the early days after Eva's return.

Rain -- 21 ATC -- Theron finds Eva out in the rain after Koth is worried about her. It's not as bad as it looks.

Protect -- 14 ATC -- Dr. Oggurobb meets the Voidhound on Makeb.

The Super Smash Bros Player a guide for Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2

This is a draft for an upcoming video I'm working on!

With NASB2 being a year old now and going through a boat load of patches people are starting to regain interest thanks to events like platfight, heatwave 7, and Hungry games. If you'd like to hear why, watch this video I linked above (platfight one). But simply its due to how well the game is balanced nowadays compared to its launch and later builds.

Due to these changes some general guides and definitely most character guides are completely obsolete. So first let's discuss some examples of engine changes in nasb2 that have taken place over the past year:

For example:

Release parry being removed with only perfect shields being a thing

Ex Strongs no longer adding additional knockback

Slime Cancel Reduction

These are a few examples of how the game has been altered that most will notice if they previously played.

Now I’ll get into some ways nasb2’s engine differs from Smash bros and other fighters.

Shields don't get poked

Shield dropping is shield plus special

Shields can't be tilted or poked but can be broken and “powered shielded”

When a shield is broken you are stunned in place and mash all buttons but jump to escape. This punish is 99% of the time devastating

Air Dashing

Taunting inputs are slightly different

The biggest and most obvious way NASB2 differs is the genre changing inclusion of Slime. Slime in NASB2 is the key that unlocks a boatload of options for players.

Slime grants you a bunch of options that we’ll first go over in bulk here and I’ll likely bring them up again during other segments of this video.

Slime Cancel: This option is extremely flexible and allows you to cancel any move at any point during its duration.

Offensive options for this allow you to extend your advantage state to chain even more options together. For example, as spongebob you normally finish an up air ladder combo with up special or forward air. But, with slime canceling you can potentially end it with a strong up air and net yourself a kill off the top. Slime canceling a move that has hit an opponent results in them being frozen briefly allowing you to hit them if you're in position to do so.

You can also use slime to cancel a move to act sooner than you normally would. This can allow you to do options like canceling an up special to grant you different options like air dodging to ledge, rather than being stuck in free fall. You can also use canceling to cancel an end lag on a whiffed move that otherwise would get you punished in neutral.

This option has plenty of character specific techniques and combo routes associated with it so you should play around with this where possible.

Slime EX Specials:

EX Specials or Slime Enhanced Specials are one of the ways you can use slime to alter or upgrade your current specials. Every EX Special grants something extra to the move you use it on. This can be as simple as more distance and damage on a recovery special option or literally a completely new option that is locked behind a meter. Slime specials are coded as entirely different moves so some of these options may look wildly different and mechanically act like entirely different moves. This usefulness of this is entirely character and even option specific so play around with this as you learn new characters. To perform an EX special, hold down the slime button then press special. You’ll see a green flash and then your enhanced special will activate.

Slime Enhanced Strongs:

EX Strongs follow the same principle as EX Specials but are unfortunately far less useful than EX specials. For the most part EX Strongs generally only do have the property of dealing additional damage. This can be useful for potentially getting a kill with a combo that normally wouldn’t kill just yet, but this option isn’t widely used as the use of a meter for something like this is currently seen as not very useful. To do this you hold down the slime button and then press the strong button.

Slime Burst:

is a mechanic that when you’re in hitstun, allows you to cancel any knockback, hitstun, and break an opponent's combo or string. Its a pretty important feature of slime as without it this game would turn into touch of death simulator due to its fast and explosive advantage state. Burst requires 2 bars of slime to activate to do so, you need to also be in a form of hitstun or knockback then press shield plus slime. The move does also have a hitbox so you actually can get a kill from bursting in very specific scenarios. While it seems like a strong option to constantly use for at lower levels it does have its drawbacks. Using slime for burst means that you’ll lose slime that could be made useful for your advantage state, recovery options, or other ways to help net you more kills quickly. It is a strong option when used at the right time and a very hurtful option when used incorrectly so play around with when you should and shouldn't use it.

Slime Dash:

Slime Dash is as of the time of making this video the most overall useful option when using slime. Slime dashing is another branch of enhanced slime moves like strongs and specials before them. This option allows characters to move further, faster, and act sooner than a traditional air dash. It can be used for recovery, chasing opponents for new combo routes, and kill confirms, and be used for other options as well. This option, while powerful, does have its drawbacks. One major one is that Slime dashes lose their iframes that the regular air dashes have. This means that your character when slime dashing is vulnerable to hitboxes your opponent throws out making this risky to use during an edge guard situation. Use this option constantly in the training room or in casual matches to learn all about it. It's one of the greatest ways to use slime both meta wise and coolness factor wise.

Slime Block:

A defensive mechanic that essentially allows you to reduce shield pushback taken from an opponent's attacks. This mechanic is tied to the slime meter and can be activated by pressing slime + shield when you have any amount of meter. This mechanic acts as this game's version of “power shielding”. It’s a pretty important feature to get used to using and can single handedly change how hard or easy matchups can be. So I’d recommend learning this aspect of slime first above all others.

Slime Super:

Super is a mechanic that is one that universally works the same across all characters. You build up three bars of slime and then get access to a move that when successfully landed activates a cutscene that across the cast does 40% and also stops a players DI from working as well as negates their ability to use Slime Burst. This makes Super a high risk and high reward option that can net a kill in exchange for all your slime. To do a slime super you will press your attack and slime button at the same time when you have 3 full bars of slime.

That’s everything you’ll need to know about slime. Lets talk now about Defense.

Part 2: Defensive Mechanics

Shields in NASB2 are similar to other games but they do not get poked. no shield pokes but unlike nasb1 there are shield breaks. When your shield is broken you are dizzy in place and very punishable.

Slime block & Shield Push back & Teeter

Moves in this game have pretty noticeable pushback. The longer you hold shield the more you’ll be pushed backwards as an opponent continues to hit your shield. This can make it hard to have the right positioning out of shield to punish an opponent for an unsafe option. Using slime block counters this by negating your shield push back and keeping you in place. This allows you to safely punish moves that are unsafe on block.

Slime blocking also helps you avoid one of NASB’s biggest changes from smash, and thats Ledge teter.

Ledge Teeter:

is a state your character is put into when while shielding you are hit with an attack that pushes you onto the ledge. Your character will drop shield and become put in a helpless animation indicating you are free to be punished. To avoid being teetered, use slime shield at ledge or avoid shielding when at ledge vs an opponent unless you know they won’t swing.

Platform push off

When shielding on a platform when an opponent hits your shield. You will be pushed towards the edge of the platform until you eventually hit the edge. You will be pushed off and be put into tumble. You can slime shield to stop this from happening. You will not be put into teeter on a platform ledge.

Parries In nasb2 do not work like they do in smash ultimate. Instead they are based on reaction not on release of the shield button. This means Parry is a perfect shield.

DI & SDI

Di is more similar to Melee than it is Smash Ultimate. What this means is this:

Survival DI consists of altering the knockback direction towards the upper corners of the screen so that more distance is required to reach the blast lines, effectively preventing a KO if the knockback was high enough to push the character into them with the original trajectory, but not enough to do so with the new trajectory created by the DI. Usually, if the attack's trajectory is almost entirely vertical, merely holding the control stick horizontally is needed, while if it is more horizontal, it must be held in a diagonally upward angle.

General DI to escape combos is similar. Hold up down left right to alter your launch angles. Holding out is generally a common option to make it harder to be combo’ed

SDI not to be confused with survival di, SDi or known as Smash Directional Influence is a mechanic that can help by allowing you to slightly alter your position while in hitlag.This can be used to escape from combos among other options.

To sdi in nasb2, it is slightly different than other games. You’ll tap the stick in 1 of the four cardinal directions, (UP, Down, Left, right) then you can wiggle or tap the stick in any direction to begin sdi’ing to escape combos.

Part 3: Grabs and Throws

Grabs

Grabs can be done by pressing the grab button or by pressing shield plus attack.

Grabs can be escaped via mashing buttons or spinning your stick

Mashing does not work if you mash jump

Jump Cancel Grabs:

This game has jump cancel grabs, this lets you do a standing grabs out of dash. To do a JC grab out of dash simply press grab and jump at the same time or briefly after you press grab press jump.

Simultaneous Grabs

They cause a grab clank similar to smash bros both players are pushed back equally.

Throws:

Forward throw

Back throw

Up throw

Down throw

Pummel pummel will look familiar. Grab an opponent then mash the grab or attack button to continue to add more damage on to your opponent before throwing them.

Opponents can mash to escape grab, however one difference is mashing jump does not work for escaping a grab.

*Chain Grabs there is nothing stopping you from being chain grabbed by a particular throw besides your di smarts and stage choice. Not all characters can do chain grabs.

Mashing Defense:

Mash out of grab is a tried and tested defensive mechanic from smash bros. It was brought on for both nasb games but functions differently in nasb2 slightly. To perfom a mash, press any button or use direction inputs on your stick. Any option works out of grab except jump so keep this in mind as its a key difference from how smash mashing works. (Attack button Mashing any button except jump)

Part 4: Air Movement and Other Techs

Air Dodging

in nasb2 gives you iframes briefly and you are actionable after each air dodge finishes. You have the ability to do Neutral air dodge, diagonal air dodges, and up down left and right. : 9:59-11:21

Wave Dashing

If you can air dodge in any direction you can wave dash. NASB2 like other games has what's called a wave dash macro. Pushing dodge and jump at the same time + a direction will always give you a wave dash. This makes movement via wave dash incredibly easy and accessible for those who want to do it.

Shield Dropping:

Shield Dropping is a mechanic that allows you to shield and drop through a platform while still shielding. You never need to drop your shield. Do do this, it's quite a bit simpler than in other games with the feature. All you need to do is press shield and special at the same time. No input direction wise required.

Drop Cancel: you become airborne a frame after pressing B, so you can use an aerial the frame after (if timed correctly)

it's actually faster to plat drop with B, rather than holding down on the control stick. holding down requires you to hold the input for 3 frames before you start falling, compared to shield dropping which is just 1 frame

Crouch cancel (debating on even including this)

like 4th-hand information here, i haven't seen any direct testing of it myself

but I've heard its ECB shenanigans where the transition from their crouching ECB > taking damage ECB re-grounds them faster than usual

Part 5: Ledges and Wall Jumps

*Ledges

:* 12:03-13:15

Ledge Dashing is performed via the old fashioned way by manually holding down

Lab what Nasb2's ledge regrab invulnerability is

NASB2 Only grants you ledge invuln once per ledge grab. You can however regain ledge invuln off stage after already having it if you are hit by an opponent OR hit an opponent off stage even after you already used your 1 extra invuln.

(Rivals invuln on regrab: Invincibility for the first two ledge grabs without landing)

Mention invuln from dropping off ledge

Wall Jumps:

All characters to varying degrees have unlimited walljumps

How to perform a wall jump

Wall jumping in nasb2 is fairly unique. You are granted essentially unlimited wall jumps as long as you can retouch the wall with your character. To wall jump hold away from the wall as you graze it with your character, then press jump. Drift back towards the wall and repeat the process to wall jump again.

Part 6: Grounded Movement

Fox trotting:

That consists of moving along the ground by repeatedly executing characters' initial dash animation, as opposed to using their full dash. To fox trot simply tap the stick forward and then let go and let it return to neutral.

Wave dashing:

If you can air dodge in any direction you can wave dash. NASB2 like other games has what's called a wave dash macro. Pushing dodge and jump at the same time + a direction will always give you a wave dash. This makes movement via wave dash incredibly easy and accessible for those who want to do it.

Dash dancing:

Simply move the stick left and right quickly and you’ll start dash dancing.

Rolls & Spot dodging:

There are 3 types

Left Roll

Right roll

Spotdoge / neutral roll

Part 7: Conclusion and Recommendations

I’d reccomend getting this game on a modern console or pc if you have the option. If you’re looking for guides, coaching, practice, and a bunch of resources, I’d reccomend checking out the Nick Brawl Grind server. It has a ton of resources to help you imrpove including top players willing to give advice, coaching, or just play matches. Theres plenty of casual players and general 1-2/2-2 level players looking to find matches as well and its generally better to use this server to practice and improve over ranked.

This tournament channel has both archived vods and cut up individual matches from weeklies, majors, and regional events. Wait I just realized something. For any au that includes Nicaise in hell first, how does she meet Niffty and Husk and their relationship?

To be honest, I'm not sure Niffty would have attached to Nicaise the way that she did Alastor. I'm about 50/50 whether Alastor actually owns her soul or not, but either way I get the impression that she was drawn to him because of his bad boy vibes. And, well, Nicaise is a woman, not a bad boy.

So instead of Niffty coming to Nicaise, it makes more sense for things to be the other way around. Niffty could have accidentally antagonized some dangerous demons, like when she stole those guys' drinks at Consent.

Nicaise was just passing by when she smelled the blood - a lot this long before extermination day - and glanced down the alley out of idle curiosity. She saw Niffty being held down by her neck, face pressed to the asphalt, laughing weakly despite being drenched in blood. Her attacker was a man several times her size whose hand dwarfed Niffty's skull. Nicaise didn't give so much as a warning before removing the guy's head.

Afterwards, Nicaise brought Niffty home and patched her up. Once Niffty had regenerated she gave Nicaise a cheery goodbye and just... left. Skipped right on out the door without a care in the world.

So yeah, Niffty was pretty disinterested in Nicaise at first, but Nicaise at least kept an eye out for Niffty when the little bug was in her territory. Slowly over time, Niffty got used to Nicaise and began to hang around. And Nicaise noticed that Niffty was actually quite useful in some ways. Not just the fact that she was a good housekeeper, but that she was small, able to get into places other people couldn't, and easily overlooked. After she'd saved Niffty multiple times, she leveraged the number of favors Niffty owed her and took possession of Niffty's soul. Niffty's okay with this arrangement, as Nicaise's Overlord activities puts her in close proximity with a number of bad boys.

With Husk, it was more targeted. Husk's Overlord reign was still going strong when he made the unfortunate mistake of crossing her. Husk had won the soul of someone Nicaise had under her protection, someone who lived on her territory in exchange for some favors. After they'd lost their soul to Husk, this person begged Nicaise to save them from Husk, and after some negotiation she agreed with the stipulation that she would keep ownership of the soul. They agreed, since they were already loyal to Nicaise.

So Nicaise went into Husk's territory and instantly he was on edge. By this point Nicaise had developed some abilities of her own. I imagine she would have been a singer much like Alastor and Charlie, and so some of her powers are based around her voice as well. Husk was wary, but he figured he could use her. So when she asked to play a game with him he accepted, planning on taking everything from her and before taking her soul.

But instead, the exact opposite happened. Nicaise started small, only betting some wealth. After she'd won a substantial amount of money from Husk, she wagered it all back in exchange for the soul of the sinner who she'd come for. Figuring this was all she was after, Husk agreed, but only if Nicaise bet a soul of her own. He wagered souls for souls, after all. Nicaise agreed, but she wouldn't bet any of the souls under her control. Nor would she bet her own soul for a single sinner's. After some negotiation they came to an agreement; the pot plus her soul for a number of Husk's souls and a portion of territory. Both of them cheated. Nicaise won, but only just. Nicaise offered him the chance to win everything back and his gambling addiction plus his pride wouldn't let him turn her down.

The game went on like this for a while, with Nicaise chipping away at Husk's wealth, territory, and power little by little until she'd won everything but the shirt off his back, and his soul. Husk could have walked away, knocked down to the level of a common sinner, but free. He didn't. In the final game Nicaise wagered everything she'd won plus her own soul against Husk's soul, and he lost.

In the present, Nicaise's relationship with Husk is rather cold. As an Overlord he was exactly the sort of man she hated; a greedy alcoholic who traded souls like they were poker chips. She still sees him this way even after decades of being on her leash wore him down.
