Find the Right Professional Development Coaching on a Budget
Are you feeling stuck in your career and unsure of how to progress? Are you struggling to develop the skills necessary to achieve your goals? Would you like to receive guidance, support, and accountability from a professional coach to unlock your true potential? If so, investing in professional development coaching may be just what you need.
While it can be a powerful tool for personal and professional growth, the cost of traditional coaching services can sometimes be a barrier. But don't worry, there are affordable options available to help you achieve your dreams.
At Gateway of Healing, we understand the importance of making professional development coaching accessible. This article explores various affordable options for coaching, empowering you to find the right fit for your budget and goals.
Why Consider Professional Development Coaching?
The benefits of professional development coaching are well-documented. Here are some key advantages you can expect to reap from working with a coach:
Clarity and Focus
A coach can help you identify your strengths, weaknesses, values, and long-term career aspirations. This newfound clarity allows you to set meaningful goals and develop a focused action plan.
Enhanced Skills and Knowledge
Through targeted coaching conversations and exercises, you can develop essential skills for career advancement, such as communication, leadership, and time management.
Improved Goal Setting and Achievement
Coaches equip you with effective goal-setting strategies and hold you accountable for achieving them. This support system significantly increases your chances of success.
Boosted Confidence and Self-Belief
Coaching empowers you to overcome self-doubt and limiting beliefs. Through guidance and encouragement, you gain the confidence to tackle challenges and pursue your ambitions.
Greater Emotional Intelligence
Coaches can help you develop your emotional intelligence (EQ), equipping you with the skills to manage your emotions effectively, navigate workplace dynamics, and build strong relationships.
Exploring Affordable Coaching Options
While traditional one-on-one coaching can be expensive, there are several budget-friendly alternatives that can still provide valuable support:
Group Coaching Programs
These programs offer coaching sessions to a small group of individuals with similar goals or challenges. This format allows you to benefit from the coach's expertise while sharing experiences and insights with others, often at a significantly lower cost than individual coaching.
Peer Coaching
Consider partnering with a colleague or friend for peer coaching. This involves setting regular check-ins to offer each other support, accountability, and constructive feedback. Peer coaching can be a valuable way to gain different perspectives and develop your coaching skills.
Online Coaching Platforms
Several online platforms connect individuals with coaches offering various coaching packages and hourly rates. These platforms allow you to compare options, find a coach specializing in your desired area, and often benefit from introductory discounts or free consultations.
Coaching Apprenticeships
Some coaches offer apprenticeship programs where aspiring coaches observe coaching sessions and assist with client materials in exchange for reduced-rate coaching. This can be a fantastic option for gaining valuable firsthand experience while receiving coaching at a lower cost.
Free Coaching Resources
Many websites and organizations offer free coaching resources, such as articles, ebooks, and webinars. While these resources cannot replace the personalized support of a coach, they can provide valuable insights and strategies for self-directed development.
Additional tips for finding affordable coaching
Define Your Needs and Goals
Clearly identify the areas where you seek coaching support. This allows you to target your search for coaches specializing in your specific needs.
Consider the Coaching Format
Decide whether individual, group, or peer coaching aligns best with your learning style and budget.
Research and Compare Options
Take time to research different coaches and coaching programs. Compare pricing, coaching styles, and areas of expertise before making a decision.
Leverage Free Consultations
Many coaches offer free initial consultations. Utilize this opportunity to discuss your goals, ask questions, and assess fit.
Beyond Cost: Qualities to Look for in a Coach
While affordability is an important factor, it's crucial to choose a coach who is a good fit for your personality and coaching style. Look for a coach who possesses the following qualities:
Expertise
The coach should have relevant experience and qualifications in your desired coaching area.
Communication Style
Ensure the coach's communication style resonates with you. Do they listen actively and provide clear, concise guidance?
Positive and Supportive
A good coach cultivates a positive and encouraging environment to promote your growth and development.
Results-Oriented
Choose a coach who focuses on goal setting and developing strategies to achieve tangible results.
Strong References
Seek recommendations and read testimonials from past clients to gauge the coach's effectiveness.
Investing in Yourself: A Rewarding Journey
By exploring affordable options and prioritizing the qualities you seek in a coach, you can find the perfect fit to support your development journey. Remember, coaching is an investment, but the returns can be significant.
Here are some additional points to consider:
The Power of Self-Directed Learning
While coaching provides invaluable guidance, personal initiative is key. Be prepared to actively participate in the coaching process, set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound), and dedicate time to implementing your coach's recommendations.
Building on Your Coaching Experience
Coaching can be an ongoing process, or it can be a targeted intervention for a specific challenge. Consider the duration and frequency of coaching sessions that best suit your needs and budget.
Adopt the Growth Mindset
A core principle of effective coaching is the concept of a growth mindset. This perspective emphasizes that skills and abilities can be developed through effort and perseverance. Approach coaching with a willingness to learn, adapt, and step outside your comfort zone.
Investing in yourself through professional development coaching or other learning opportunities is a wise decision. By taking charge of your growth, you can unlock your potential, achieve your goals, and create a more fulfilling and successful life.

Quick tip from the art/lit world
Drop the need to impress and shock people with themes or bad words and porn. Not only because of how deeply desensitized our society is: drama, horror, gore, sex, drugs & rock'n'roll and similar genres or other tragic, violent themes do not hold any inherent value, not on their own.
The reason a director from Czechoslovakia will talk about the horror of war using pigeons on a mushroom trip and it's going to be exceptional is because it makes sense to him first. I can use all the same elements he did and my work will be shit. There is always reason and context for creation. Reason and context. Why and how you make what you make.
The worst thing you can do as an artist or writer is try to impress others. It will show. Mature people can spot that miles away. Drop the hard themes you know nothing about. Stop listening to the internet 13-year-old kids who never leave their rooms trying to help you (or charge you to help) you write about such a complex and stigmatized theme as drug abuse, for example.
Go inwards for wisdom. Go to your own heart chambers, be quiet and listen. It will tell you what you need to write about. Be honest, raw and wild. But first, try to understand what those words really mean in the current context.
With all my love, Iva.
#i dont usually give advice but this particular theme was burning inside my mind for weeks now#writers on tumblr#writers and poets#writeblr#ivatalks#this is not exactly advice tho is more of a perspective on creative work and how we sometimes ought to go after more knowledge about#the craft itself and the process of creating because that can open your eyes for the fact that you have precious things inside you#you dont need to give your money to a coach you need to focus on yourself#your life and experience and what you need to say about that#and the more i think about it and write about this I know I'm always speaking to myself first#writing advice#writing tips#how to write#creative writing#fiction#original fiction#original fantasy#writing community#tumblr writing community#tumblr writers#tumblr writing society#writing help#writing resources#art#creative minds#be free

Why Rural Sales Training in NZ Is Essential for Your Business Growth
Struggling with Rural Sales in New Zealand? You’re Not Alone.
Selling to farmers and rural businesses is nothing like selling in the city. The rural market is built on trust, long-term relationships, and a deep understanding of the industry. If your sales team is struggling to connect with rural clients, failing to close deals, or facing stiff competition, you’re not alone. Many sales professionals in agribusiness face these challenges. The good news? Rural sales training in NZ can help turn things around.
What Is Rural Sales Training, and Why Does It Matter?
Rural sales training goes beyond basic sales techniques. It’s about understanding the unique mindset of farmers, contractors, and agribusiness owners. These customers don’t just want a sales pitch—they need someone who understands their daily struggles, business challenges, and long-term goals.
Without the right approach, even the best products and services can get overlooked. A strong training program teaches sales professionals how to:
Speak the language of rural clients
Build trust and long-term relationships
Address customer pain points effectively
Close deals without being pushy
With the right skills, your team can stop chasing customers and start having meaningful conversations that lead to sales.
Which Rural Sales Training Providers in New Zealand Are Worth Considering?
If you’re looking for rural sales training providers in New Zealand, here are some options:
Rural Sales Success – Offers specialized training, including the Rural Sales Manager Mastery Programme, focusing on sales leadership, team motivation, and productivity.
Agrarian – Provides sales coaching and rural CRM solutions to help businesses improve their sales strategies.
Rural Coach – Focuses on leadership, communication, and team culture within rural sales teams.
How Do You Choose the Right Training Program?
Not all training programs are created equal. When choosing a provider, ask yourself:
Do they understand rural New Zealand? A training program tailored for urban sales won’t cut it.
Are their strategies practical? Sales teams need real-world techniques, not just theories.
Do they offer ongoing support? Sales success isn’t built in a day—it requires continuous learning.
How Can Rural Sales Training Benefit Your Team?
Many businesses don’t invest in sales training because they assume their team will learn through experience. But this often leads to frustration, lost opportunities, and wasted time. Investing in the right training can:
Boost sales conversions by improving communication skills
Help teams confidently handle objections and customer concerns
Strengthen client relationships, leading to repeat business
Reduce the stress and frustration of unsuccessful sales efforts
Is Online Rural Sales Training Available in NZ?
Yes! If travel is a challenge, many providers offer online training options. Rural Sales Success, for example, provides flexible online modules so sales professionals can learn at their own pace while applying the skills in real-life situations.
How Can You Measure the Success of Rural Sales Training?
To know if training is making a difference, track these key factors:
Sales growth before and after training
Improved customer engagement and trust
Higher deal closure rates
Positive feedback from clients and team members
What’s the Cost of Rural Sales Training in New Zealand?
Costs can vary based on the provider, duration, and level of customization. Some programs offer one-off training, while others provide long-term coaching and mentorship. It’s best to reach out to providers directly for pricing and funding options.
Ready to Improve Your Rural Sales Strategy?
If your team is struggling to connect with rural clients, investing in rural sales training NZ could be the game-changer you need. With the right training, your sales professionals can build trust, close more deals, and stay ahead of the competition.
Don’t let missed opportunities hold your business back. Find the right rural sales training provider in New Zealand today!

Free or Cheap Spanish Learning Resources So You Can Run at Windmills in Fluent Spanish
I will update this list as I learn of any more useful ones. If you want general language learning resources check out this other post. This list is Spanish specific. Find lists for other specific languages here.
For the purposes of this list "free" means something that is either totally free or has a useful free tier. "Cheap" is a subscription under $10USD a month, a software license or lifetime membership purchase under $100USD, or a book under $30USD. If you want to suggest a resource for this list please suggest ones in that price range that are of decent quality and not AI generated.
WEBSITES
Dreaming Spanish - A website that is also a YouTube Channel. This is a comprehensible input site with videos about a variety of subjects with multiple hosts from multiple countries. It has content for learners from absolute beginner to lower advanced. It lets you sort videos by dialect, subject, length, etc. The free version has a lot of content. The paid version is $9 a month and has many more videos and allows you to track your listening hours. The website is in English but all videos are entirely in Spanish.
Lawless Spanish - A free website with resources to learn Spanish relating to grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. The website also has worksheets, charts, an AI chatbot, and reviews of different learning resources. The website is in English.
Spanish Boom - A free website with beginner lessons and free readings with audio and visual aids. They're also associated with a service called Esidioma that provides paid courses with tutor help for around $23 and also sells books. They also have a blog that hasn't updated in a while but there is an archive to read through. They have a paid tier with access to their podcasts, vocab lessons, and their Spanish learning app which is $10 a month or $120 for a lifetime membership. The website is in English.
Speaking Latino - A website marketed at Spanish teachers but it's in English and has guides to colloquial Spanish and slang in a lot of different countries and a free blog with tips on sounding like a local in different countries. It has a paid tier but that's mostly useful for Spanish teachers. They also sell slang dictionaries for various countries that are usually less than $10.
UT Austin Spanish Proficiency Exercises - A bunch of free grammar, vocab, and pronunciation guides for various tasks you should be able to do in Spanish at various levels from one of my alma maters, the University of Texas at Austin. It's got videos of people from different countries pronouncing things. The podcast links often don't work for some reason but the grammar, vocab, and video links should work fine. The website is in English.
SpanishDict - A free dictionary website and app with a search feature that also has curated vocabulary lists on various topics and articles. They have a paid tier at $13 a month with a writing coach and subscriber only curated lists and articles. Personally I don't think their paid tier is all that special but it's up to you. The website is in English.

There's also dialogue books specific to Mexican Spanish and Spanish used on social media. The books usually go from $5-$20 new depending on how old they are and whether or not you bought a digital copy. These are really easy to find at used bookstores for cheap though, especially in the US.
Conatilteg Digital - This is a mobile app that provides digital versions of the free textbooks for children provided by the Mexican Ministry of Education both historic and current. The link I provided is for iOS but the app is also available on android and the app is available in multiple countries and not just Mexico. Although it's aimed at native speakers, the language used is clear and understandable and transcripts are available. They're also aware that a lot of intermediate and advanced learners use them for listening practice and they have developed a free app that helps with comprehension and vocabulary when listening to their podcast.
SELF STUDY TEXTBOOKS
Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish - A self study textbook written in the late 80s that still mostly holds up for beginner to upper beginner Spanish. A paperback edition of the textbook is about $25 and used copies and ebooks are also usually available wherever you like to buy books. It's also half off on Amazon pretty often.
Complete Spanish step-by-step by Mcgraw Hill - This is a complete version of the McGraw Hill budget option, the spanish step by step series that focuses on the most frequently used words and grammar. It's $25 new but the individual books in the series usually cost less than $10 and used versions and ebooks are available.
Complete Spanish Grammar from Mcgraw Hill - This is a workbook as well as a textbook that usually costs around $20. The complete Spanish all in one version of the book costs about $40. Used versions of these books can be difficult to find because people tend to write all over them but ebook versions are available. You can also find their beginner workbook for around $18.
Practical Spanish Grammar - This book is usually around $25 but because it's not a workbook it's fairly easy to find used copies. An advanced grammar textbook is also available.
SERIES FOR LEARNERS AND KIDS SHOWS
Destinos - This is a series of over 50 episodes of a telenovela made for Spanish learners. The plot revolves around a group of siblings searching around the world for their long lost half sibling they just learned that they had so the series includes a lot of different Spanish dialects.
Extra Spanish - A 13 episode sitcom made to show in Spanish classrooms that revolves around a group of friends in Spain and a student that just moved there.
Dora la Expladora - Yeah if you remember Dora the Explorer from your preschool days it also unsurprisingly exists in Spanish. You can watch clips and some full episodes on YouTube and buy full seasons for around $8 each on Amazon.
PBS Kids in Spanish - A few PBS Kids shows like Cyberchase and Daniel Tiger have been dubbed into Spanish. The link I've given goes to a place to buy them on Amazon Prime but if you go digging on their YouTube channel or the PBS Kids website you also might be able to find them for free. They don't always make it easy to find though.
Plaza Sésamo - The Spanish language localization of Sesame Street for Mexican audiences with its own unique characters. The YouTube channel has a huge amount of content on it and often has episodes streaming live.

"Cody Two Bears, a member of the Sioux tribe in North Dakota, founded Indigenized Energy, a native-led energy company with a unique mission — installing solar farms for tribal nations in the United States.
This initiative arises from the historical reliance of Native Americans on the U.S. government for power, a paradigm that is gradually shifting.
The spark for Two Bears' vision ignited during the Standing Rock protests in 2016, where he witnessed the arrest of a fellow protester during efforts to prevent the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline on sacred tribal land.
Disturbed by the status quo, Two Bears decided to channel his activism into action and create tangible change.
His company, Indigenized Energy, addresses a critical issue faced by many reservations: poverty and lack of access to basic power.
Reservations are among the poorest communities in the country, and in some, like the Navajo Nation, many homes lack electricity.
Even in regions where the land has been exploited for coal and uranium, residents face obstacles to accessing power.
Renewable energy, specifically solar power, is a beacon of hope for tribes seeking to overcome these challenges.
Not only does it present an environmentally sustainable option, but it has become the most cost-effective form of energy globally, thanks in part to incentives like the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
Tribal nations can receive tax subsidies of up to 30% for solar and wind farms, along with grants for electrification, climate resiliency, and energy generation.
And Indigenized Energy is not focused solely on installing solar farms — it also emphasizes community empowerment through education and skill development.
In collaboration with organizations like Red Cloud Renewable, efforts are underway to train Indigenous tribal members for jobs in the renewable energy sector.
The program provides free training to individuals, with a focus on solar installation skills.
Graduates, ranging from late teens to late 50s, receive pre-apprenticeship certification, and the organization is planning to launch additional programs to support graduates with career services such as resume building and interview coaching...
The adoption of solar power by Native communities signifies progress toward sustainable development, cultural preservation, and economic self-determination, contributing to a more equitable and environmentally conscious future.
These initiatives are part of a broader movement toward "energy sovereignty," wherein tribes strive to have control over their own power sources.
This movement represents not only an economic opportunity and a source of jobs for these communities but also a means of reclaiming control over their land and resources, signifying a departure from historical exploitation and an embrace of sustainable practices deeply rooted in Indigenous cultures."

Content: Jason Todd x Reader, timetravel, swearing, mention of injuries, blood, more to come :)
ANywaayyss! Hope you like it :)
Word Count: 2k.
You’ve been daydreaming again. A third - no, fourth cup of tea, left to turn bone cold.
Fuckin dipshit
It’s a warm day for Gotham. City of recurring nightmares, for some. For you, it’s home. A chaotic, fucked-up, yet charming-in-it’s-relentlessness home.
At 22, you’re at that crucial stage of your 20’s where it feels like you’ve seen it all, and yet done nothing of note. Job-hopping, relationship-failing, nothingness. Anxious to make something of yourself, yet not quite sure what that something would be yet.
Ambition currently took a backseat to survival. You worked for a federal community services program, which helped your clients find and access vital resources, like housing, healthcare, and food. You were a jack-of-all-trades for many in this role; a big sister, a life-coach and a friend, all in one. A soft landing. It was hard, but rewarding work.
But damn if it didn’t drain you.
You let out a huff as you pour the cup into the sink, letting the stale chamomile brew be swallowed by the drain. You’re alone in your sharehouse, with all four of your housemates all out and about, taking full advantage of the sunny weekend. It’s a rare occasion. You gaze up, over the sink, through the window in the kitchen. Outside, sunshine beams down through silvery clouds.
It is a nice day.
Oh shit. What’s the time? And why do I feel like I’m forgetting something?
You rush back to your room and glance at your phone screen. 12:48. Oh shit!
Coffee! With your coworker, Matthew! Damnit!
Rushing around the house as quickly as you can, you damn near turn into a blur as your grab the necessities haphazardly. Jacket, keys, wallet, phone…. Where’s the damn phone, you just had it, dumbass!
Slamming the door to your townhouse behind you, with your belongings all shoved into a low-slung leather shoulder bag, you rush three blocks down to the bus stop that will take you further into town, managing to just catch the bus before it leaves. Slotting yourself behind the other passengers from your stop, ignoring the glare that the bus driver gives you, and squeezing through the sea of patrons, that’s when you spot it. A seat. Yes! Perfect!
Collapsing into the plastic seat with a soft thud, your head tilts back and you exhale, catching your breath. You close your eyes in relief. Phew! At least now you’ll make it to coffee with your friend and former colleague Matthew on time.
Glad I got this seat. Free seats on buses in Gotham, especially on sunny days like this, are few and far between.
Come to think of it…. Free seats in Gotham, on PACKED buses like this one, are exceedingly rare…
You glance to your right side, towards the side window. The man who sits beside you is, and there really is no way to put this lightly, huge. He looks straight forward, and it’s like he hasn’t noticed you at all.
A hulking presence, you can see he lurches forward ever so slightly. Broad shoulders that filled a dark brown leather jacket to the brim. Arms that squeeze into the worm sleeves. You glance away, folding your bottom lip into your mouth as you are prone to do when nervous or awkward. Inhaling, you steal one last glance up at his face, before quickly looking forward, and inwardly cringing.
Now it all makes sense. That scowl. Fuck me. This man might be a local crazy.
None of the other passengers are anywhere near him. Well, near either of you, since you foolishly decided to take the empty seat without first looking to see who it was you’d be sitting next to. Dickhead.
His face is a storied one. The first thing you notice are his eyes. Cliché, you think to yourself, Noticing the handsome stranger’s eyes first. But in all honesty, it’s quite hard not to. They’re a bright, piercing green. Almost…. glowing? Well, the left one is. You can’t see the right, as he’s facing forward. His disinterest in you is such that you think if you were to drop dead in front of him, he’d hardly blink.
His face, side on, is straight and chiselled, but aged. A large thin scar reaches from his left jaw, pointing like an arrow towards his green eye. And his hair, oil black, voluminous and wavy, with a streak of platinum white in his cowlick. It would be adorable if you weren’t so bloody mortified right now.
His thick black brows are furrowed in deep concentration, or frustration. You can’t tell which. His glowering face, tense and focused, betrays the deep thought he is in. It’s not clear what exactly it is this man wants to stab the life out of right now, but it is clear that this man does not want to be spoken to right now. Hence the empty seat, you figure.
You squeeze your arms around your brown bag, the soft leather a small comfort in this awkward situation you now find yourself in. Oh, if only you could sink through this shitty plastic bus chair and splat onto the road below.
You take a deep breath, finally steading yourself. Finding yourself in close proximity with an unstable person in Gotham is like finding yourself in an enclosure with a lion. No sudden movements, and you might find yourself walking out of this with all limbs intact.
Without warning, the bus lurches forward, and you with it. Your arm shoots out to steady yourself on the metal pole in front of you, a small groan escaping your lips. You remain seated.
The man beside you, seemingly weighed down by rocks, doesn’t budge, but grunts softly. It’s probably all those damn muscles keeping him locked in place.
You look to your side, observing the other patrons with mild curiosity. Across the small aisle from you, sits a small child and her father. Hand in hand, and she can’t be older than four. Blonde hair sticks out in tiny pigtails, and in her hands sits a stuffed giraffe toy.
She looks over at me with large brown eyes, and smiles. You smile back, and offer a small smile. “I like your giraffe! What’s his name?”, your chirp, just as the bus enters a dark underground tunnel.
She opens her mouth to speak, a bashful smile on her face, but is interrupted by the bus skidding to a halt. You don’t even have time to turn my head forward, when, quicker than you can comprehend, hands move. Her father’s hands, and your left arm, both reach towards the small child. Your hand instinctively spreads out to cushion her small body, whilst your right reaches out for the pole in front of you. And completely misses it.
But you don’t flip head over heels onto the bus floor. A large arm has blocked you, reaching in front of you like a human seatbelt. The man beside you, still facing forward stoically, stopped you from breaking your teeth on the bus floor.
You softly curse, mouth agape. Your fingers find your bag, which has dropped unceremoniously to the sticky floor. That was quick. The bus doesn’t move. There isn’t any movement outside the bus, as far as you can tell. Instead, you hear chatter and confused mumbling from the other patrons on board, who lean and peer at something you can’t quite see.
But you feel it before you see it. A human body slams into the front window of the bus. One of the layers of glass completely shatters, sending shards of glass propelling towards you and the other passengers.
You don’t get a chance to gasp before you are squished under the chest of the stranger beside you. His arms cover your back and you feel one of his hands on your head. You hear a thick heartbeat and a rumbling pair of lungs, and feel the warmth and softness of his black hoodie.
Seems like the weird stranger beside you had the same instincts as you; to protect people.
The bus rocks back and forth for a second, but once it has steadied, the stranger is gone. You see a flash of dark leather slip through the ajar bus door, and he is gone.
Holy shit.
The body that landed on the front window of the bus is gone, a large indent of curved window glass in its place.
You hear screams, close ones and distant ones. To your left, the giraffe girl is tucked into the lap of her father, screaming in terror. You glance over at him, and he meets your gaze. Both of you, wide-eyed, communicate without words. We gotta get outta here.
You reach out a hand to help him up, as he clutches his baby girl to his chest. A wave of patrons exit the bus. There’d probably be more injuries through the panic and distress of getting off the bus, if not for the complete shock that everyone is now in.
Your hands reach up to rub your face, and you quickly check yourself, then others around you, for injuries. Other than a light scare, and a few cuts and bruises, the bus of about 40 people seem to be mostly unscathed. You allow yourself a breath, and release a bit of fear.
Glass crunches underfoot, and patrons usher each-other through the doors. It’s like organised chaos. It’s Gotham, so as with every weird and horrifying event, there are naturally leaders and carers who always step up. Good people. Kind strangers whose motivation is just to get everyone home safe that day. The unsung civilian heroes of Gotham, along with the nurses and doctors, you think to yourself.
As the last few people exit the bus, you stand, leaning a hand on the backrest of your bus seat. Giraffe-girl dropped her little giraffe toy in the chaos, and you slowly stooped down to pick it up.
Slowly picking shards of glass from the yellow and brown fur of the toy, you cautiously step towards the exit of the bus. Outside, there’s a fair amount of darkness, and you can hear distant gunshots and sounds of violence and chaos.
Just before you reach the exit, the bus lurches violently once again, and as if possessed, you are tossed to the stick bus floor, landing amongst the glass shards. Crunch! Your thin jacket does nothing to stop the damage, and it’s like a thousand tiny knives have plunged themselves into your skin. You groan and cry out. Fuck!
The giraffe toy is still in your clutches, when you can feel the bus begin to lift into the air. It’s like that feeling of an elevator rising, you can just tell. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.
You crawl and clamber to the door of the bus, clutching the sides and peering out below. You’ve been lifted barely six feet in the air, but you can’t see who’s doing the lifting. There’s a loud jarring scraping noise that comes from above you, and you glance upwards. It’s the roof of the bus, touching the concrete ceiling of the road tunnel above you. Metal pressing against concrete isn’t a wonderful sound, but at least you can’t go any higher.
But the crushing sound doesn’t stop, and the roof buckles. You are jolted around, as the bus begins to fold in on itself like paper. That’s when you cry out for help, as loud as you can.
“Hey! HEY! Stop! Please, somebody help!”. Your voice calls out, but there’s no immediate answer. “PLEASE, HELP!” You desperately cry out. Your heart pounds like a drum in your chest, and your head feels heavy with fear. Your eyes stretch wider than you thought was possible, and you begin breathing quick and shallow breaths.
Clutching at the sides of the bus door frame, you peer out below you. The gap between you and the ground is getting bigger and bigger. If you’re gonna jump, you’re gonna break your legs. But if you stay here, you’ll break… well, you’ll break your everything.
Fuck it.
With a panicked grunt, you launch yourself downwards… and lend somewhere soft. In someone’s arms.
It’s the guy from before. Wait - no… is it? He looks older now. Grayer hair. More scars. And he looks at you with a grin and a glint in his eyes, almost like he recognises you. His red muzzle rests around his neck, low enough to show his black stubble.
That muzzle.. looks a lot like the one Red Hood wears....
He looks at you and smiles warmly. “Hey, honey!”.
A/N: AHHHH HE MAKES ME FEEEEEL. Hope you liked it? Also, reader kinda hinted at being neurodivergent, like myself, very forgetful and distractable and high energy.
Let me know if you have any feedback!
