This fic idea has been in my brain for few weeks now and since I'm definitely not gonna actually write it (mostly because English is my second language and I feel nervous writing in it, so sorry if some of sentences are wired) I wanna put it here

Basically, it's les mis au where instead of police inspector Javert grows up to be doctor. He still was born in prison and still has that fucked up mentality of "everyone who ever broke the law is a horrible person with no exception", but instead of "I'll make sure that everyone of them suffers the consequences of their actions" it's "I'll make sure they live long enough to suffer the consequences of their actions". So he's still an asshole, just in a slightly different way

It's a valvert fic obviously, so even though the main plot point are the same, there is a big difference between how Valjean and Javert actually interact with each other. Under read more I'll put basically the entire plot of this fic (each paragraph is different chapter), so if any one actually likes this idea, feel free to take it, just let me know

So it's all starts with Javert working in Toulon as doctor for a few months now. He gets a new patient who was crashed by a boulder and then he asks the guards about what happened, they tell him about a prisoner who lifted the boulder with his bare hands. Intrigued, he asks the guards to bring this prisoner to him to "make sure he didn't injured himself and can continue his work tomorrow". So they bring Valjean to him. For Javert it's a normal check up there he asks about the accident, how he's feeling right now and prison related questions (like for his real name, why he's here etc.), but for Valjean it's the first time in years someone talks with him like he's a person and not a beast. And, because Javert doesn't talk about how he hates every single lawbreaker, Valjean thinks that he actually cares about his patients and is a nice guy. It's the only time they actually talk in Toulon, but they see each other on few occasions.

Because Javert is a doctor, then he moves to m sur m, he has no idea that Valjean broke his parole and on the run. So then he meets mayor Madeleine, even though there is something familiar about him, he doesn't think much about it. Valjean on the other hand immediately recognised him, but decided not to tell him the truth for now and get to know him first. So instead of constantly avoiding each other, they actually become almost friends and start to develop mutual crush, but they don't act on it.

Then the accident with Fauchelevent carriage happens, Javert sees for the first time how strong is Madeleine and after tells him to visit the hospital to make sure he didn't hurt himself. Then they're in Javerts cabinet alone, he tells Madeleine how he heard stories in Toulon about a man, who was as strong as mayor himself. And just then Valjean decides to tell the truth, Javert is like: "But that man was a convict and we both know, that every person who broke the law is horrible and can't change for the better. You're saint in comparison to this man and I'm sorry for disrespecting you like that, monsieur le maire." Valjean then asks why he thinks like that, Javert tells him his backstory and his world view, so he decides not to tell him the truth again. After few more months, they both slowly realise they have feelings for each other, but because they unsure if the other feels the same, they still don't confess.

Then Fantine gets arrested, Valjean orders to release her and this time police officers let her go free with zero objections. Then he brings her to the hospital, he tells Javert that he found this woman unconscious on the street, because he's afraid that Javert might treat her different from other patients if he knew she was arrested. They now spend even more time together, because Valjean visits her every day and they both trying to safe her life. Few months later Javert gets a latter, in which he's ordered to go to Arras so can identify a convict who broke his parole and recently was captured. He gives this latter to the mayor and explains that he will leave for two days. Valjean asks what will he say to the officers and Javert is like: "I'll tell them the truth. If I'm sure that this man is Valjean, I'll tell them that. And if it's not him, I'll tell that they got the wrong man." Javert leaves and Valjean panics.

Then Javert returns, he tells the mayor that it was definitely Valjean and that his trial will be tomorrow. Just like in canon Valjean gets to Arras on time, tells the truth about his identity and returns to m sur m. He goes to the hospital and tells everything to Javert in hopes that, because they are friends, he'll understand and help him escape. But their dialogue goes horribly wrong and while they're fighting (or more accurately Valjean's trying to explain himself and Javert is furious and doesn't want to hear him out), Fantine dies. Valjean escapes to go for Cosette, while Javert tells the officers, where he might run. After all of this, Javert thinks that their whole friendship was a lie and that Valjean only wanted to make fun of him.

Valjean and Cosette both move to Paris, just like in canon. Javert get invetation to work in the most prestigious hospital in Paris, because he's one of the best doctors of his time (not because he's much better than any body, but because he likes to clean his work place after every patient and has much lower mortality rate). I'm still not sure, how I want them to meet in this chapter. It's either: Valjean gets injured, goes to hospital because Cosette forced him, they see each other from a distance and recognise each other, Valjean escapes; or: they both in the park listening to les Amis, Javert sees him from afar and tries to get closer to make sure it's really him, guards arrive to arrest the students and they get separated. Both versions lead to the same conclusion: Javert now knows, that Valjean is in Paris, and wants to put him behind bars.

Then the barricades are build, Javert is ordered to go there to help injured guards. There he sees Valjean in uniform, but before he can do anything, the guards go to attack the barricades and Valjean goes with them. Then they come back, Javert doesn't see him with them and checks every corpse, but still can't find him. He then learns from other guards that one of them joined the side of rebels, he decides to see who it was himself. He gets to the other side of barricades and then confronted by rebels he just insults them so they take him hostage. That's where they finally meet again and Valjean asks permission to kill him. Once they alone in the alley, Valjean frees him and breaks his world view like in canon, but he also confess his love for Javert and they kiss. Valjean gives him his new name and address and Javert leaves very confused.

After the barricades fell, Javert goes there and can't find Valjean. He realises, that he left through the sewers, but doesn't tell anybody about it. He returns to the hospital to help injured guards. There he gets a message from m. Gillenormand (who is his regular patient in this fic) about medical emergency. He goes to the mansion, guesses that Marius was injured on the barricades and learns that Valjean brought home. After that he goes to the address that Valjean has given him and finds him waiting. They finally talk, Javert has his mental breakdown, but this time Valjean helps him sort out all his thoughts: "Even though your motiv was wrong, you still saved countless of lives. And now you can continue your work but with compassion towards everyone, no matter who they were or who they are." Valjean convinces Javert to stay in his house for the night.

They start to spend more time together taking care of Marius. After he recovers, Javert tells Valjean that he decided to transfer from the prestige hospital to the one for people who can't afford proper medical care. Valjean is very happy with this decision (this is the place where I would have written smut, but you don't have to imagine that I'm not your boss). After Cosette moves out to live with Marius, Valjean asks Javert to move in with him and he agrees. Javert convinces him to tell Cosette the truth about his backstory and of course she forgives him and still loves him. The end.

God, looking through all these posts by aromantics is making me cry.

All my life I’ve been told that you need/should find someone to love. I had “crushes” sure but it was really only one when I was like 7 and I don’t remember much from then so it was most likely aesthetic attraction or wanting to be him. All of my more recent “crushes” have been someone I thought was interesting. That’s what I always thought crushes were. A cool good looking person. Now a little while later, I’m realizing that all of my like 3 crushes I’ve had my whole life have just been people I wanted to be friends with.

Realizing that I’m probably never going to be romantically in love with someone was honesty so hard for me. It was like I was mourning a version of myself that I hoped to exist but I knew probably never would. I honestly didn’t know how to feel. Over the years I had gone through many labels for myself. Bisexual, pansexual, and now aroace.

After reading all these people who share like experiences with me, it’s making me realize that I’m not alone and that this isn’t going to ruin my life. Even though I may long for romance I know deep down that I probably wouldn’t enjoy and that I probably don’t experience it.

Seeing people talk about their happy thriving qprs also helps a lot as I didn’t know that was an option up until recently.

Whether this post reaches just my mutuals, some fellow aroaces, or anyone, I hope this helps someone or at least teaches them a tiny little part about my aroace experience that I probably share with many people

I'm curious why Sam would accept such a dangerous role.

I assume there are other characters from the books, what are her interactions and relationships with then like if she meets then frequently? Does she spend more time in the human world or Wonderland?

✦ Howdy! So...

Sam accept this role not because she wanted to but she needed to. If she wanted to live peacefully and be freed from these Jabberwocky Creatures and keep the realms safe and balanced, she needed to accept that role. In the beginning she didnt agree on this, since she isnt ready for such responsibility and thinks she is not the best person for it (and she also thinks everyone on the Wonderland are completely bonkers, which she isnt so wrong about it). but slowly she started getting used by it and accept it, and kinda started to enjoying her magical and mad adventures between the two worlds a little bit. And of course she doesnt enjoy when she almost dies in a big fight between a jabberwocky creature--

✦ AND HOHOHO!! LETS TALK ABOUT THE OTHER CHARACTERS A LIL BIT!!!

In fact the "Into the Borderland" world got the characters from the books! And got other characters I've created because... oh, well, why not? :3c

Mostly of Sam interactions with the Wonderlandians are almost similar with the Alice interactions with the Wonderlandians in the original book. Almost. I cant explain it without showing some examples, so how about I say how it is like Sam's relationships with two Wonderlandians and their personalities?

Let's start with the first Wonderlandian she meet with, and surprisingly it wasnt the white rabbit. It was the Jack of Hearts!

♥️🃏 Jack of Hearts are a member of the royalty of hearts in the kingdom of hearts, call him Jack or just Hearts. He is kinda the adopted son of the Red Queen of Hearts (The Queen of Hearts got three children if we count with Jack).

Jack was the person who saved Sam from a Jabberwocky Creature attack after she crossed into the borderland (eyy) between the two worlds accidentally, so she didnt even had any idea of what was going on and who was him. He knew that Sam wasn't no ordinary human so he convinced her to go to the wonderland with him so she could figure out what was going on. He teached her how to survive around wonderland and understand it's rules, and yadda yadda. He is always helping her to fight and make plans against the creatures in a way to defeat them.

Jack's age is around Sam's age. They dont got much age difference, its probably about a year or 2. He is very proud of himself, full of self confidence but he is a gentleman and a really sweet dude with a good heart. He is kinda of the theatrical kid, always looking for the dramatic. Sam find him a little annoying and a few times reckless, but she doesnt mind much tho. They two are good friends.

A funny thing about him is that sometimes when he tries to look cool and then fails successfully, he tries to hide it by faking it all was a part of his plan and have a winning smirk on his face. He also got feelings towards Sam and acts a little romantic towards her but she doesnt even notice him.

Sam: "Oh my god! Did it hurt when you fell???"

Jack: "When I fell over my knees for you?"

Sam: ... *inhale.*

Sam: "... HEARTS YOU LITERALLY JUST FELL DOWNSTAIRS—"

And now... let's go to the most mysterious and smiling Wonderlandian, the Cheshire cat.

💜☁️ The Cheshire Cat is a normal looking cat, well, if you assume a pink cat with a big wide smile as a normal cat characteristics then, yes! He is a normal looking cat.

Remember that in wonderland you dont find Cheshire, he is the one who finds you.

When someone is lost in the Wonderland, the Cheshire cat appears and tries to "help" the lost person to find their path (Well he actually makes the person confused and in the end the own person finds their own way, so... I guess he helps a little bit???). And one time when Sam lost herself from Jack and doesnt know how to leave the woods, the cat showed up to her. They two had a interaction very similar to the books and the classic disney animation version of it. Sam doesn't seem to understand what is up with that weird cat but she tries to not to think too much about it, after that everytime Sam is feeling lonely or is "lost" (In both meanings, like losing herself from her path or not knowing what to do) Cheshire shows up to her and helps her in his own kinda way. He also randomly shows up just for funsies because he can.

Cheshire: "He went that way."

Sam: "...Who?"

Cheshire: "The white rabbit."

Sam: "Really?? Where did he go?"

Cheshire: "He who?"

Sam: "The white rabbit."

Cheshire: "What rabbit?"

We dont know much about his magical abilities or his real power, we only know he can change his form, teleport around and be invisible.

And that's all for a few relationships she got with the Wonderlandians, in the future I can tell about her relationship with others.

✦ And for the last and not least... I would say she stays in the two worlds like the same much? I guess so. :'3c

a kiln god is a small clay sculptural creature that stays on/in/near a kiln while it’s firing, to watch over the pottery inside and protect it

mine are all vaguely humanoid and holding pottery, but they can be anything

a lot of people leave their kiln gods unglazed, and only ever make one or two. because I work with a shared kiln, my kiln gods have to be inside the kiln so they don’t get bumped or broken, so it makes more sense to glaze them and keep making more

people have lots of little traditions around kilns and pottery. there are so many variables to successfully finishing a piece of pottery, and many of the steps are out of our control. it’s nice to have a kiln god watching over our work

if you take a pottery class, your teacher might mention the kiln gods. for some potters/studios they’re more of a concept than anything physical

I've been thinking a lot lately about how Kabru deprives himself.

Kabru as a character is intertwined with the idea that sometimes we have to sacrifice the needs of the few for the good of the many. He ultimately subverts this first by sabotaging the Canaries and then by letting Laios go, but in practice he's already been living a life of self-sacrifice.

Saving people, and learning the secrets of the dungeons to seal them, are what's important. Not his own comforts. Not his own desires. He forces them down until he doesn't know they're there, until one of them has to come spilling out during the confession in chapter 76.

Specifically, I think it's very significant, in a story about food and all that it entails, that Kabru is rarely shown eating. He's the deuteragonist of Dungeon Meshi, the cooking manga, but while meals are the anchoring points of Laios's journey, given loving focus, for Kabru, they're ... not.

I'm sure he eats during dungeon expeditions, in the routine way that adventurers must when they sit down to camp. But on the surface, you get the idea that Kabru spends most of his time doing his self-assigned dungeon-related tasks: meeting with people, studying them, putting together that evidence board, researching the dungeon, god knows what else. Feeding himself is secondary.

He's introduced during a meal, eating at a restaurant, just to set up the contrast between his party and Laios's. And it's the last normal meal we see him eating until the communal ending feast (if you consider Falin's dragon parts normal).

First, we get this:

Kabru's response here is such a non-answer, it strongly implies to me that he wasn't thinking about it until Rin brought it up. That he might not even be feeling the hunger signals that he logically knew he should.

They sit down to eat, but Kabru is never drawn reaching for food or eating it like the rest of his party. He only drinks.

It's possible this means nothing, that we can just assume he's putting food in his mouth off-panel, but again, this entire manga is about food. Cooking it, eating it, appreciating it, taking pleasure in it, grounding yourself in the necessary routine of it and affirming your right to live by consuming it. It's given such a huge focus.

We don't see him eat again until the harpy egg.

What a significant question for the protagonist to ask his foil in this story about eating! Aren't you hungry? Aren't you, Kabru?

He was revived only minutes ago after a violent encounter. And then he chokes down food that causes him further harm by triggering him, all because he's so determined to stay in Laios's good graces.

In his flashback, we see Milsiril trying to spoon-feed young Kabru cake that we know he doesn't like. He doesn't want to eat: he wants to be training.

Then with Mithrun, we see him eating the least-monstery monster food he can get his hands on, for the sake of survival- walking mushroom, barometz, an egg. The barometz is his first chance to make something like an a real meal, and he actually seems excited about it because he wants to replicate a lamb dish his mother used to make him!

...but he doesn't get to enjoy it like he wanted to.

Then, when all the Canaries are eating field rations ... Kabru still isn't shown eating. He's only shown giving food to Mithrun.

And of course the next time he eats is the bavarois, which for his sake is at least plant based ... but he still has to use a coping mechanism to get through it.

I don't think Kabru does this all on purpose. I think Kui does this all on purpose. Kabru's Post Traumatic Stress Disorder should be understood as informing his character just as much as Laios's autism informs his. It's another way that Kabru and Laios act as foils: where Laios takes pleasure in meals and approaches food with the excitement of discovery, Kabru's experiences with eating are tainted by his trauma. Laios indulges; Kabru denies himself. Laios is shown enjoying food, Kabru is shown struggling with it.

And I can very easily imagine a reason why Kabru might have a subconscious aversion towards eating.

Meals are the privilege of the living.

So I’ve been enjoying the Disney vs. DeSantis memes as much as anyone, but like. I do feel like a lot of people who had normal childhoods are missing some context to all this.

I was raised in the Bible Belt in a fairly fundie environment. My parents were reasonably cool about some things, compared to the rest of my family, but they certainly had their issues. But they did let me watch Disney movies, which turned out to be a point of major contention between them and my other relatives.

See, I think some people think this weird fight between Disney and fundies is new. It is very not new. I know that Disney’s attempts at inclusion in their media have been the source of a lot of mockery, but what a lot of people don’t understand is that as far as actual company policy goes, Disney has actually been an industry leader for queer rights. They’ve had policies assuring equal healthcare and partner benefits for queer employees since the early 90s.

I’m not sure how many people reading this right now remember the early 90s, but that was very much not industry standard. It was a big deal when Disney announced that non-married queer partners would be getting the same benefits as the married heterosexual ones.

Like — it went further than just saying that any unmarried partners would be eligible for spousal benefits. It straight-up said that non-same-sex partners would still need to be married to receive spousal benefits, but because same-sex partners couldn’t do that, proof that they lived together as an established couple would be enough.

In other words, it put long-term same-sex partners on a higher level than opposite-sex partners who just weren’t married yet. It put them on the exact same level as heterosexual married partners.

They weren’t the first company ever to do this, but they were super early. And they were certainly the first mainstream “family-friendly” company to do it.

Conservatives lost their damn minds.

Protests, boycotts, sermons, the whole nine yards. I can’t tell you how many books about the evils of Disney my grandmother tried to get my parents to read when I was a kid.

When we later moved to Florida, I realized just how many queer people work at Disney — because historically speaking, it’s been a company that has guaranteed them safety, non-discrimination, and equal rights. That’s when I became aware of their unofficial “Gay Days” and how Christians would show up from all over the country to protest them every year. Apparently my grandmother had been upset about these days for years, but my parents had just kind of ignored her.

Out of curiosity, I ended up reading one of the books my grandmother kept leaving at our house. And friends — it’s amazing how similar that (terrible, poorly written) rhetoric was to what people are saying these days. Disney hires gay pedophiles who want to abuse your children. Disney is trying to normalize Satanism in our beautiful, Christian America. 

Just tons of conspiracy theories in there that ranged from “a few bad things happened that weren’t actually Disney’s fault, but they did happen” to “Pocahontas is an evil movie, not because it distorts history and misrepresents indigenous life, but because it might teach children respect for nature. Which, as we all know, would cause them all to become Wiccans who believe in climate change.”

Like — please, take it from someone who knows. This weird fight between fundies and Disney is not new. This is not Disney’s first (gay) rodeo. These people have always believed that Disney is full of evil gays who are trying to groom and sexually abuse children.

The main difference now is that these beliefs are becoming mainstream. It’s not just conservative pastors who are talking about this. It’s not just church groups showing up to boycott Gay Day. Disney is starting to (reluctantly) say the quiet part out loud, and so are the Republicans. Disney is publicly supporting queer rights and announcing company-supported queer events and the Republican Party is publicly calling them pedophiles and enacting politically driven revenge.

This is important, because while this fight has always been important in the history of queer rights, it is now being magnified. The precedent that a fight like this could set is staggering. For better or for worse, we live in a corporation-driven country. I don’t like it any more than you do, and I’m not about to defend most of Disney’s business practices. But we do live in a nation where rights are largely tied to corporate approval, and the fact that we might be entering an age where even the most powerful corporations in the country are being banned from speaking out in favor of rights for marginalized people… that’s genuinely scary.

Like… I’ll just ask you this. Where do you think we’d be now, in 2023, if Disney had been prevented from promising its employees equal benefits in 1994? That was almost thirty years ago, and look how far things have come. When I looked up news articles for this post from that era, even then journalists, activists, and fundie church leaders were all talking about how a company of Disney’s prominence throwing their weight behind this movement could lead to the normalization of equal protections in this country.

The idea of it scared and thrilled people in equal parts even then. It still scares and thrills them now.

I keep seeing people say “I need them both to lose!” and I get it, I do. Disney has for sure done a lot of shit over the years. But I am begging you as a queer exvangelical to understand that no. You need Disney to win. You need Disney to wipe the fucking floor with these people.

Right now, this isn’t just a fight between a giant corporation and Ron DeSantis. This is a fight about the right of corporations to support marginalized groups. It’s a fight that ensures that companies like Disney still can offer benefits that a discriminatory government does not provide. It ensures that businesses much smaller than Disney can support activism.

Hell, it ensures that you can support activism.

The fight between weird Christian conspiracy theorists and Disney is not new, because the fight to prevent any tiny victory for marginalized groups is not new. The fight against the normalization of othered groups is not new.

That’s what they’re most afraid of. That each incremental victory will start to make marginalized groups feel safer, that each incremental victory will start to turn the tide of public opinion, that each incremental victory will eventually lead to sweeping law reform.

They’re afraid that they won’t be able to legally discriminate against us anymore.

So guys! Please. This fight, while hilarious, is also so fucking important. I am begging you to understand how old this fight is. These people always play the long game. They did it with Roe and they’re doing it with Disney.

We have! To keep! Pushing back!

Focus this time was less in my usual figurative and more realistic when it came to the clothing (as if live action) — carefully considering what practical things and uses each person would have at the start of the apocalypse

At the same time using my artstyle the best I can to make otherwise mundane clothes interesting through how it is worn by each person, what silhouette and implications does it evoke.

TME and TMA as intersexist terms: as written by an intersex transfem

I’ve had a few different people in my inbox asking me why I view these terms the way I do. In particular, why I claim it’s intersexist. So, I thought I’d lay out a few examples, so everyone can understand where I’m coming from.

Imagine an intersex woman. She was assigned female at birth by her doctors, and was able to go about her childhood as a woman with no inclination that anything was amiss. Sure, she didn’t experience certain parts of puberty, but puberty was different for everyone, right?

But, later in life, she learns she has Turner syndrome. This is an intersex condition where a woman has only one X chromosome, rather than the usual two.

Soon after she learns this, she finds that laws are being made to attempt to keep trans women out of women’s spaces (often specifically sports) which use chromosomes as a defining factor of womanhood.

Would this intersex person be considered “transmisogyny affected”? She has been raised as a cisgender woman with no problems regarding being ‘clocked’, but she is also a direct target of transmisogynistic laws. She lies in a gray area.

Now, let’s go to another intersex person. Imagine an intersex man with PAIS. AIS is an intersex condition where babies are born with testes and XY chromosomes, but their body is immune to or can’t respond to androgens (which includes testosterone). Intersex people with partial AIS (PAIS) often develop a vulva and clitoris during puberty.

This intersex person identifies as a man, and he was assigned male at birth. However, his body does not produce testosterone, and he went through a feminizing puberty. To the average eye, he appears to be a woman now because of this.

Would this intersex person be considered “transmisogyny affected?” He was assigned male at birth, and now appears to be a woman, much like many transfems. However, if many saw how he looks now, stating that he is a male, they would probably clock him as transmasc. He was raised as a boy until puberty, and then faced astrozcization from his peers when he began a puberty that feminized him. What he was facing was a form of intersexism where transmisogyny was playing a huge part. Does his childhood matter? Can one become TME over time, when they were TMA as a child? Again, he lies in a gray area, where the answer is not quite so simple.

What about the “opposite”, per se — an intersex woman who had a masculinizing puberty? She has aromatase deficiency, which means that many ‘male’ hormones (which would usually be converted to ‘female’ hormones) would remain unconverted. She identifies as a woman, and was identified as a female at birth and was raised, until puberty, as a female. But now, she would be clocked as a trans woman upon looking at her. What does that make her? Is it different from the previous example? How and why? This intersex person also lies in a gray area. How she should be described with these terms is not clear.

And keep in mind, these are all relatively simple examples. All of the examples I listed self-identify as cisgender. But there are intersex people who are trans in any direction you can imagine.

If that last example identified as a trans woman, because she is now clocked as one, would you be able to say she’s wrong for that? What about if she identified as transmasculine, because of her experience with puberty? What if she’s multigender, bigender or genderfluid, and says she’s both transmasc and transfem because of her complicated experiences? Would that make her a TMA transmasculine person? But I thought that transmascs were all TME? That’s how it’s so often framed, anyway.

The reason why these questions are so difficult to answer is because these terms were not made with intersex people in mind. Very real intersex transfems were pushed to the wayside in favor of centering the perisex view of transgenderism. Intersex people are nothing but an inconvenient little afterthought, annoying perisex people with their demand for “inclusion” and “consideration”. (As per usual.)

You cannot simply make a new gender binary and say, “No, really, this time everyone fits into these two categories! Forcing people to confine themselves to these two rigid labels which are shown as opposites, and as never interacting, will definitely include everyone this time!!” No matter what the contents of the new binary is, it’s not going to work, because sex and gender alike are too complicated for that. There will always be people in the gray area.

This isn’t even getting into the fact that these terms, for all intents and purposes, seem to have been popularized by and associated with the Baeddelism movement around 2017, which was essentially “Radical Feminism 2: We’re Trans Women, So It’s Fine!” This movement is known for chronic villainization of trans men and non-binary people who aren’t transfem. (They act like this with cis people too, but noticeably less so than they do with non-transfem trans people. How curious.) Think along the lines of how regular radfems treat all men (and who they deem to be men) as inherently morally disgusting scum who deserve to be attacked.

Methinks that maybe these terms aren’t the neutral, fact-based descriptors of oppression that many people nowadays tout them to be, considering that.

So, yeah. “Transmisogyny exempt” and “transmisogyny affected” as terms: not even once. Listen to intersex people, stop trying to make sex and gender into binaries, and for the love of God, stop drinking the queer seperationist koolaid!

Im already seeing really bad takes that the show didnt make Gabe “abusive enough”. First and foremost, there are so many different forms of abuse, not just physical abuse. When we first see him, he is instantly belittling Percy. You can see how much of the space he takes up in the apartment. He has a single recliner, a jersey on the wall, and a side table all for him while he gambles with Sallys money. He is immediately financially abusive and verbally abusive.

Second, he answered Sally’s phone and spoke to the principal at Yancy. He is trying to control how Sally raises her son and is giddy at getting another person to bully again. Also, he controls the car. Sally has to negotiate with him and manage his reaction to her taking her son to Montauk. In this scene we see her sass him back and tell him to ask her nicely which I think is a great way to show that Sally still has some agency in the situation. She is able to say she doesnt want to be spoken to disrespectfully.

Lastly, in The Lightning Theif, Percy states “For the first time, I realized something. Gabe had hit my mother. I didn’t know when, or how much. But I was sure he’d done it. Maybe it had been going on for years, when I wasn’t around.” This was in the second to last chapter of the book. People are mad they didnt see him hit her in the first EPISODE??? Be so for real. Give the show time to flesh everything out.
