It’s rare for me to able to see a show in my neck of the woods anymore, even though I live significantly closer to this venue than The Borgata in Atlantic City, which is where I last saw Jerry play. I haven’t been to too many shows lately; but outside of my last time seeing Black Label, most of the shows I’ve been to required me to travel. And keep in mind again, I didn’t attend too many shows…

at first, I thought that his chain has something to do with shadow travelling/teleporting (to put it in very simple terms) but turns out that it isn't his but Sharon's chain that has to do with shadows that makes this all the more funny

because it obviously means Sharon is fully in cahoots with his pranks and that under the mask of a well-bred, educated, highly cultured, tea-sipping elegant noble lady, Sharon is as chaotic as Break, or maybe even more

❝ ...I can’t believe I’m letting this get to me. I have more pressing matters to be worrying about. And yet-- ❞

This would be... the ninth time now. Or was it the tenth? As Duke Barma had recently reminded him. He had already quit trying to quit smoking, seeing himself completely unable to do so on so many occasions. But he had been far too busy as of late to restock his supply of his preferred brand of cigarettes. And neither was he gifted any since he also put off returning to the Nightray Manor whenever he could, meaning any pleasantry offered to him as a fellow noble would also be waiting on his return there. So he had little choice in the matter. If he was to quit, now would be the time.

It has weighed on his mind since it had been pointed out, really. He truly did smoke an awful lot these days didn’t he... now more so than before, he noted when he had tipped the last cigarette from the box he kept in his breast-pocket into his hand. He ultimately sighs, returning it to the box and back to his pocket. Instead he digs into another of his coat’s pocket in search for something Break had given him earlier. A single lollipop... The gift was more likely an attempt to tease to his situation, but Gilbert had accepted it nevertheless, mostly so Break would stop jiving him. But also because he’s curious if Break’s idea would work for him, as they often somehow did.

Perhaps the perpetual jokester of a man was onto something, Gilbert allowed himself to believe; if only slightly. He was spinning the lollipop stick between his thumb and forefinger, trying to convince himself it would suffice as a suitable replacement.

As if needing to force his own hand, he jams the candy into his mouth, nearly knocking a tooth out in the process. His muscle memory leads him to attempt lighting the end of the stick before realizing he shouldn’t do that. Then he sat there, on one of the benches outside Pandora Headquarters, giving the candy time to work it’s magic, at Break’s suggestion. Gilbert soon waves the man out of his mind though, feeling himself growing increasingly embarrassed as if Break himself was there watching over him, poking fun at his futile attempt.

❝ ...No, I don’t think this is going to work. That man... He was just messing with me, surely. ❞

He felt ridiculous, but admits the candy busied him in a way much like the cigarette would. The overly sweet flavor in place of the usual smoke in his lungs made it obvious this was not the same though. He felt an odd sort of emptiness in him without the burn... But at this point it’d be a waste to abandon the candy, would it not?

But truly, what would be the difference in quitting with sweets? He mulled. Both in excessive amounts could cause one problems. Honestly...! Break should be the last person he should be taking health advice from! He’s just about to trade the candy out for the cigarette waiting in his pocket when he drops the pack in his hurry, his hands visibly trembling. Gilbert then kicking it by accident when he attempts to pick it back up-- and right into the walking path of someone passing by too! This was truly just not his day, was it...?

I'm imagining a scenario where Oz asked Sharon or maybe Ada how to style hair for the soul purpose of helping Gilbert look his best, how adorable would it be if a Caucus Race 4 was released and it explored Oz spending countless hours on learning the techniques, and maybe even doing research on Gil's hair type- Gil being the type who doesn't fuss about his appearance anyway- but Oz being the little fuss pot he is, demands Gil sits down whilst he practice, and from the look on his face, he really enjoys playing hair stylist, even singing/humming... and just look at Alice's face, full of wonderment whilst Gil is just happy that Oz is happy.... my heart!

God I miss these 3!

Also quick note, Oz has an earring very similar to Gil and on the same ear placement, imagine Oz wanting to get his ears pierced but Gil begged him not too and just took him to the same jewelers he went too and now they're matching ☺☺

So I’m reading Pandora Hearts seriously this time and hopefully i don’t decide to take a break only for that break to be indefinitely long because i have new content anxiety and get scared when i enjoy things, ( as seems to happen with many things i start.. ) But anyways wow these bitches are all so damn cute, I love Alice Oz and Gil so much. I love Gil and Alice’s bickering and, i can tell they will definitely get to care about each other a lot in the near future. I always find it really sweet observing how much affection is displayed between Jun Mochizuki’s characters. And its subtle and not always made a fuss about but i notice it and it makes them all feel that much more real and connected to each other. Silly things like Gil putting his hat on Oz or Sharon drying Gil’s hair is important to me and i appreciate that sort of subtle relationship building especially when i know I’m in for a series with a bunch of characters and interactions. If i had to pick a favorite so far, Break is definitely stealing the show as the absurd and morally questionable weirdo. He’s insensitive as hell and i love it, very old man of him. And despite his coercing i trust him simply because he’s a very honest manipulator. He’s a watch it play out and explain later kind of guy cause it would ruin the fun otherwise, he is the ¿mad hatter?…after all so he’s chaos for the sake of it. Alice and Oz are tied for now but i have a feeling Alice is gonna win my heart. Its the impression of a girl who really needs a hug and i have a soft spot for that sort of destructive loneliness i sense in her. Oz intrigues me to no end because he’s trying to be the typical optimistic smiley main character except he’s just a little more aware than i’m used to seeing and i love it. It’s the kind of attitude that’s not completely fitting for the world circumstances and even tho its used to liven up the mood it fails to convince you or the other characters. I don’t get the sense that he’s like that for other people as much as it’s for himself. His optimism is disturbing to everyone and that’s something i love to see be leaned into for a main character. “I’m curious about what it was that warped you so,”. I know there’s going to be a lot to him and i am not ready. As for Gilbert, he is so incredibly sweet that it almost guarantees immense suffering in his future. If someone has not drawn him bargaining gum with Alice and Oz like Aki from csm i might have to because they’re both in the big brother club to me. Or Oz might even be the gum dealer just to get the two to stop fighting lol.

Thats enough for now and I’m really enjoying everything so far, i will update again when something rattles me. I’ve started avoiding fan content like the plague and its real hard considering how many ph artists i’ve followed beforehand. Now that i have context for things spoilers are harder to fly over my head. There’s a lot I’ve had spoiled since forever and am aware of, just not in how its applied in the story. I’m the worst spoiler dodger ever because i convince myself i don’t care until it’s something i care about but that’s on me, and i usually enjoy stuff regardless.
