I love your blog! I think this will be a safe space to talk and i will start this discussion in english but i can’t stand international groups mainly english speakers who occupy the ancient greek space whether it is online or academically. We greeks are taunted and patronised about everything, i don’t see people acting the same way to germans or norwegians when they know barely of their pre christian religions or why they arent vikings like the old times, even countries like india who they aren’t anymore like their great past yet get a pass. And in the end of the day they don’t even know anything else aside from the big three as i call them aka Athens,Sparta and Macedon occasionally Thebes but then again ignore many other smaller city states, kingdoms and islands that existed at the same time and had their own unique cultures. I mean even our name “Hellas” came from a funky epirotan tribe that foreigners would deem as un-greek because greekness to them is antiquity period.
True, for the colonizing nations and the empires who wanted to claim ancient Greece as theirs, Greeks can never win. It's been like this for centuries at this point, because arguments like "Greeks are uneducated therefore they don't deserve this heritage" or "they don't look the same is their ancient super idealized statues, so they are not ACTUALLY Greeks by blood, therefore not having a right to Greek heritage although they're culturally Greek" have been already used since the 19th century at least. Another "argument" that servers the same purpose is "Greek culture belongs to everyone", meanwhile they never say this about Norwegian, Egyptian, Indian, Afghani, Chinese, and other cultures 🙄
I think the same argument of the locals lacking some knowledge has also been used used for India and Egypt at some point, when Western Europeans were doing excavations and research there and considered themselves better than the locals who "dared" not having a perfect knowledge of what those buried things in their country were.
Locals don't have an obligation to have perfect knowledge of their heritage in order to have a right to it.
Those who you can expect an almost perfect knowledge from are scholars, who are specifically getting paid to devote most of their time in the subject. And, of course there were always Greek scholars who studied their antiquity. Not to mention, even scholars can't know everything and have to devote their attention to certain periods.

Hey there kids..
Just wanted to stop by and give an update on all things life.
I have some new fic ideas that are floating around in my notes app and I definitely intend on getting back to writing, potentially over the holidays when I will have some more free time.
Also, somewhat related to my "vacation era" from writing, is that I have been focusing as much of my free time as possible on trying to spend time with my girlfriend.
Today is actually our 3 month anniversary, so props and kudos to us for tolerating one another so far 😅 (that is a joke).
But that's really all that is going on over here these days.
Would love to work on a few one shots or something similar, so if anyone has any prompts they are interested in (for monos, of course), just drop them here or message me and I will see what I can get done in between the times where I'm waiting to see my lady.
Stay well and stay safe!

Dc x Dp Prompt #6
“I’m a twin”, Damian said one night. He could feel the narrowed eyes of his family drilling holes on his back in disbelief. Not that he could blame them. Damian had never so much as implied being raised with a companion, much less a sibling.
“I had a brother”. Damian paused to recollect himself. He had not said his brother’s name out loud in over 8 years.
“His name was… Danyal”. Damian hated the way his voice wavered, but he could not help it. Danyal was everything to him, his other half. Their heart beat as one and when one heart stopped beating, the other one died with it. At least until his family put his heart on metaphorical life support without ever realizing.
“Where is he now?” His father asked, voice filled with knowing grief and a hint of betrayal. It had in fact been 6 years since Damian first showed up on his doorstep.
“Up there”. All eyes shifted towards the specific star he was pointing to. “Right before he died, he promised me he’d guide me from the stars. Unfortunately, the stars are not visible in Gotham, so my brother is unable to be of much help unless I leave the city.”
“Your brother is Polaris, the North Star?” Tim questioned warily, most likely in attempts to not offend him. Damian was aware of how stupid it sounded, but Danyal had promised, and his brother never broke his promises.
“Yes. Danyal is with the stars now, just as he always wanted”

not normal about orpheus and eurydice. you loved someone so much it opened the stones of the underworld. so much that death had to listen. so much that everything stopped for your love. so much that you turned around. so much that even when you did wrong. she forgave you.

Brennan really took Ally accidentally naming a goddess after a Greek mythology figure and ran with it this season. Fabian and his whole Narcissus thing with Ecaf. The dance bard teacher having the same name as the Greek muse of dance. The place where the shards went back to being essentially Tartarus (body of a god used to house/torture the worst sinners or in fantasy highs case, dead/forgotten gods). Ambrosia being needed for devils nectar when it originated as food for the gods in Greek and Roman mythology. I’m seeing a pattern here

for once I would like to see a depiction of a greek god who looks like my local priest or my papa or yiayia or my friend kostas who works in his family's taverna or something. greek nose, thick eyebrows, dark hair everywhere, tan olive skin. i don't see any greek i know in the hades character designs... maybe odysseus? but ultimately its whatever im used to it and i'll still play the game, just waiting for some great representation one day from somewhere
True, it's rare to actually feel you're watching your own people because all these years Greek figures were played by Anglosaxons (despite of the existence of people or Greek descent) and now in the more "progressive era" the Greeks are played by.... still Not Greek People. Eh..thanks for nothing I guess? That's still erasure of 99.9 of Greeks appearance-wise and culture-wise??
(And if we're talking about not established figures whose appearances we don't know, there there's room to hire Greeks of different "races" and they don't even do that! But they don't even care calling the light-skinned ones for casting so I don't expect much)
You can see this since Westerners still don't know how we look as a result. They'll see the average looking Greek and be like "that's too light / that's too dark / that's too much hair / not enough hair / that's not a Greek nose ... Like, Jesus... They've seen like 2 Greeks in the dozens and dozens of productions they've made

Option 1: apollo has a greek accent
Option 2: Apollo as a god can speak any language, and as the god of music can perfectly replicate any sound. Therefore he can speak any language in a number of native accents.
Option 3: apollo puts on a greek accent
