Y’all, the Archive admins are made up of VOLUNTEERS. And they have been working for 12-13 HOURS STRAIGHT.

I better not hear any complaints when donation period comes around. OR ELSE.

EDIT: How do we show appreciation to the volunteers? For me reading these deep dives on OTW issues u guys apparently it's been said multiple times that one of their objective statements is to have paid staff for ao3 and there's a surplus of donations they haven't used up or the other community solutions that needs to address. For those more financially literate feel free to analyze, snipe me or add to the discussion etc. linked here by deepa. They’re cool and these yearly analysis they did aint no joke.

But Seriously what can we do for these volunteers? The probable burn out from this entire fiasco would be no joke. @ao3org

Current AO3 news from Facebook group:

ADMIN: “Just a few things. Yes, the attacks are still happening so site availability will be spotty at best. This is NOT an attack on the actual content. All stories, user data, etc are safe. DDOS attacks basically overwhelm the servers with requests to the point they cannot handle the load and failover. DDOS attacks last until one of two things happens, either the person/group gets bored and moves on to a new target. Or the site owner finds a way to fortify the servers against the attack. That means this could last for a while. With that in mind, let's all try to keep the panic, humorous or otherwise to a minimum. It's annoying and frustrating, certainly, but it's not the end of the world. The site will eventually be back, it's just going to take time and patience.” In short: - Our content is safe. - Our user data, stories etc are safe. - It’s a DDOS attack meaning it’s basically an attempt at overwhelming the servers, meaning: - DON’T KEEP REFRESHING THE AO3 PAGE!!! - It will last for a while, but there is no need to panic. Anyway anyone have an idea why BigKVids made us count the redstone torches, what the hell man (I know how the redstone torches relate to the gameband video, it's just a strange thing to ask in universe for viewers to keep track of. What did Kevin know, if he knew anything up to that point. Or was he just joking around? Who knows!)

AO3 is currently under a DDoS attack (Distributed Denial-of-Service attack: a group of hackers is trying to overwhelm the website with superfluous commands, taking it down temporarily or even indefinitely - it's akin to a group of people blocking the doorway to a shop and stopping legitimate customers from entering). The voluntary techs at AO3 are working hard to resolve the problem. So, don't panic, AO3 is here to stay. There is nothing you currently need to do on your end but be patient with them. I hope this helps!

Chapter 15 - Froissement is up on A03

Summary:

The Diamond had descended into chaos, terrified spectators rushed toward the exits fleeing for there lives. Caterina could only watch on in horror, the explosion had sent the mezzanine above crashing down onto the competitor booths below. Spite, Viago, & Illario desperately dig through debris, hoping to save their friends.

Snippet:

Caterina's eyes widened in horror, the explosion still ringing in her ears, spectators were screaming, rushing for the fire exits in panic, the staff trying to assist were pushed aside as the crowd moved like a cornered animal, pressing through the doors in a rush to get outside and away from danger.

The mezzanine over the competitor Booths had exploded, crashing down to the floor below. The booth Altara and Lucanis had been sitting in was buried under a pile of rubble. She let out an anguished scream, her throat raw as she fell to her knees in despair. "LUCANIS!" a man screamed, rushing past her down the steps, nearly stumbling in there haste.

Illario threw himself at the rubble, shoving chunks of concrete aside, his muscles straining as he pulled at it, trying to dig his way to his Cousin, his eyes wet with tears, a look of desperation on his face.

She could only stare in mute horror, her heart breaking as Viago rushed down the steps to join him, another man she did not recognise joined seconds later, calling out to Lucanis and Altara as they dug with their bare hands, heaving blocks of concrete and wood to the side desperately trying to reach them.

A touch on her shoulder shook her from her stupor, Teia offered what she hoped was reassuring look. "Don't lose hope, they could still be alive." Caterina let's out a bitter laugh, what hope could there be, there was no way they could have survived that, survived this.

They both watched as emergency paramedics and fire crews rushed down the steps towards the chaos. most of the spectators had fled and the hall fell eerily quite, only sounds of pain from the injured and the people working to free them from the rubble.

Teia's hand never left Catarina's shoulder, offering what little comfort she could. The Matriarch clung to her hand with a death grip, her face twisted in grief as she watched them digging.

Illario's hands were bloody as he pulled another block of concrete out of the way. Viago assisted him, his lips set in a grim line as they tossed another piece to the side.

"Lucanis!! Altara!!" Spite cried out desperately trying to get to them, they had to be alive, not after all they had been through, it couldn't end like this.
