Strong arms wrapped around your waist and pulled you flush to her front. It was impossible not to melt against your girlfriend. Her face buried into the crook of your neck, warm breath tickling your skin. “Coffee is almost ready,” you spoke softly, not wanting to ruin the morning’s tranquility. “And I ordered your favorite; it should be here soon.”
“‘M sleepy,” she grumbled. You smiled and turned around in her arms. Kate returned late last night from a mission. Normally, she would spend the next day in bed or lodging around her apartment with you. However, today was Yelena’s birthday, which meant dinner at the tower and bar hopping tonight to celebrate the blonde.
“I know, baby,” you ran your hands through her hair and massaged her scalp. A smile graced your lips as Kate hummed happily. “Once you have breakfast, coffee, and a shower, you’ll feel better,” Kate smirked.
“Are you going to join me in the shower?” You couldn’t say no to that smile and her incredible blue eyes.
“Yes, sweetheart,” she kissed you quickly.
“Go sit on the couch. I’ll make your coffee and wait for the food,” you wanted to protest since Kate needed her rest, but you preferred how she made your coffee. Stealing another kiss, you walked over to the couch and sat down. Immediately, Lucky jumped next to you and rested his head on your lap. You had to thank this little guy for introducing Kate into your life. You were a veterinarian technician and walked the one-eyed golden retriever’s first check-up. It was a little embarrassing how quickly you fell for the archer; her energy matched Luck. The duo came into your life exactly when you needed them to. You found out your girlfriend of 4 years was cheating on you. Kate was everything Ryan wasn’t. Ryan was controlling, manipulative, and easy to anger.
Your phone buzzed, and you groaned, picking it up. You heard your girlfriend chuckling from the kitchen. Knowing it was Yelena’s birthday celebration, you took today and tomorrow off, but they could call you in if they were short-staffed. However, it didn’t work. It was a text from a number you still need to save. A simple hi with a smiley face. Odd. “Is it work?” Kate asked, managing to carry two mugs of coffee and the breakfast. Quickly, you stood up to help her and pushed Lucky off the couch. She gave you an amused smile at your pointed look when she knew you were annoyed she didn’t ask for help.
“No,” you sipped your coffee, moaning at the taste. You loved teasing your girlfriend that she could make an excellent barista if the whole Avenger gig didn’t work. “It’s a wrong number. I’m going to ignore it.”
*
You were a disgusting, sweaty mess. A mob of bodies surrounded you, and Kate’s arms were around your waist, holding you close as you danced against her. After a few rounds of shots, Kate pulled you to the club’s dance floor. This was the group’s third bar of the night, and you were feeling the effects of the drinks. There was a buzz flowing through your veins. It was a mixture of the alcohol and Kate’s lips on your neck. You moaned, her lips attacking a sensitive spot underneath your ear. “Fuck,” she groaned. “I’m so close to ditching everyone and taking you back to my apartment.” You were surprised you heard her over the song’s bass and the voices of the other people in the club. Giggling, you turned around to face her. Your arms moved behind her neck.
“I don’t think Yelena would be pleased,” you yelled over the music. “She may kill you.”
“Worth it,” she kissed your cheek. “You’ve been killing me all night in this outfit.” It was why you wore it. Teasing your girlfriend was your favorite pastime. You pulled her closer, placing your lips against hers, and she quickly depended on it. No one else mattered. She consumed all of your senses; the fruity drink she just finished was on her lips, and the faint scent of her perfume and the callouses on her fingers gripped the skin underneath your shirt. It was over too soon as a hand-pulled you away from Kate.
“I have to pee,” America whined, dragging you towards the bathroom. You laughed at the defeated look on Kate’s face. There was no one in the bathroom and no line. America stumbled into the stall and let out a sigh. “You and Kate look good out there,” she yelled as if she was still on the dance floor. You rolled your eyes and pulled out your phone. A few messages were in the group chat, and a picture was sent to you. It was you and Kate dancing together. The picture was a little blurry, but you could see your smile, and how Kate looked at you made your stomach flip. You quickly saved the photo and made it your lock screen. America left the stall, cleaned her hands, and dragged you back out. You had enough time to put your phone in your pocket.
*
“Someone is popular,” you entered the veterinary clinic with your bag over your shoulder and two iced coffees; one was for you, and the other was for Ashley, your best friend and the receptionist at the clinic. “You got some gifts over there.” You handed her the coffee and walked to the table with boxes, flowers, and stuffed animals. A majority had your name on it, while others had the names of your colleagues. It wasn’t rare that patients sent gifts in the form of gift cards and chocolates to show their appreciation. You preferred the chocolates over everything. Carefully, you picked up the stuffed animal resembling Lucky, even missing an eye.
“Can you divide it up between all of us?” You asked Ashley. “I don’t need all of this.” She nodded, wrapping her hands around the coffee mug, and took a sip.
“Are you keeping Lucky 2.0?” She teased. You nodded your head excitedly.
“It’s so cute!” You cooed, squishing its face against yours. “It has no name. I wonder who sent it. I don’t know who to thank.”
“Probably went with one of these gifts,” she shrugged. “Just ask the patients you see. Someone will take credit for it.”
*
“Honey, I’m home!” Kate’s sing-song voice rang throughout the apartment. It made you smile. Usually, it would put you in a good mood, but not today.
“I’m upstairs,” you called out to her. You heard her take the stairs two at a time to reach you quickly. When the door opened, you refused to move from the cocoon of blankets with Lucky at the foot of the bed. You found yourself spending more and more time at Kate’s apartment than your own: an extra bathroom toothbrush, clothes in her closet, and your shoes by the door. Her apartment was your safe space, so after a brutal day at work, you made your way to her bed and waited for her to come home. Her scent in the blankets tricked your mind into thinking her arms were around you. You were sure Ashley texted Kate to inform her of the day you had. A life-saving surgery went wrong, and you had to consult a grieving family that quickly turned to anger directed at you.
“Hi, baby,” you felt the bed dip under her weight. “What can I do?” You merely shrugged. She sighed, carefully putting her arm around your waist and pulling you into her chest. There was no energy in your body to fight her, and you allowed her to maneuver you until your face was pressed against her chest. Her hair was damp; she must have showered at the tower before rushing over here. “I got you, baby girl. Let go.” You weren’t used to this soft treatment. Kate was always there to pull you into her arms and allow you to fall apart. “I’m so proud of you. You did everything you could,” she praised. You shook your head. The praise felt bitter. You were undeserving of it. “None of that,” she kissed your head. “I know you, sweetheart, you did your best. We can’t save everyone no matter how hard we try.” The tears escaped your eyes, staining the fabric of Kate’s shirt. But she held you tight.
When you arrived at work the next day, a beautiful bouquet of flowers was at your desk with a note. ‘I’ll be thinking about you today.’ There was a heart at the end. You smiled, slipping the note into your wallet. You weren’t sure how Kate had enough time to set this up, but you were grateful. Texting your girlfriend to thank her for the flowers you got to work. It was during lunch that you learned Kate wasn’t the one to send you flowers. Who was it?
*
Something was happening. More gifts were being sent to the clinic and even your apartment. The notes that were attached had a tone of possessiveness to it. They wanted you; to them, no one else could have you. It was scary. At first, you kept it from your girlfriend, not wanting to worry her, but she found out when gifts were being sent to her apartment. All addressed to you. She arranged her Avenger duties to walk you to work and pick you up once your shift was done. During lunch, she delivered food to you, so you didn’t have to leave. It was a little suffocating and restricting, but you knew she was doing all this to keep you safe until the Avengers could figure out who was behind it.
Ashley was on her lunch, so you were asked to watch the front desk. It was a relatively slow day. Therefore, it was a no-brainier for you to help your friend get ahead on administrative tasks, reaching out to patients to confirm appointments, answering emails, and reminding them about billing issues. You were on the phone when the door opened. “I’ll be right with you.” You said, not taking your eyes away from the screen.
“Take your time,” your stomach dropped at the voice. Ryan. You glanced over the counter and saw your ex. She looked like she hadn’t slept in a few weeks, her clothes a little messy, and dark circles under her eyes. “Finish the call, sweet cheeks,” she smiled, leaning against the counter. Now you saw it, the pistol in her hand. “Go on.”
“Sorry, ma’am,” you went back to booking the appointment. “Yes, we have availability at 2 PM on Thursday.” Could they hear how your voice shook? Ryan was flipping through a calendar the clinic had set up on the counter. “Right, of course. We’ll see you then. Have a great day.” You hung up, saved the appointment on the computer, and wrote on a sticky note letting Ashley know about the call. You added Ryan’s name to it.
“What do you want?” You asked and faced her.
“I’m disappointed, sugar,” she closed the calendar and looked at you. Her smile once caused butterflies in your stomach, and now it scared you. “Everything I’ve given you and not a single thank you.”
“What-?” It hit you suddenly. The gifts. The random text messages. Was the photo her, too? You reassured Kate that it couldn’t have been Ryan. You changed your phone number, address, and even the place you worked when you ended it with her.
“You’ve always been so smart,” she smiled. “Come with me, or I’ll start lighting this place up.” You had no choice but to follow her out of the clinic. To the average eye, you and Ryan looked like a loving couple. Her arm wrapped around your shoulders, bringing you closer to her, but those who walked the streets couldn’t see the gun pushed into your side. Ryan opened the passenger door, helped you in, and kissed your hand before closing it. It took a lot of self-control to keep yourself seated. The fear of the unknown of that pistol she had. Would she use it on you? Soon, she got in the driver’s seat and let out a sigh. “Baby,” the pet names were making your stomach twist. It was sickening how much you graved them from her at one point. “Safety first,” she reached over you to buckle your seat belt. You felt paralyzed.
“Where are you taking me?” You finally found your voice to ask.
“I’m taking you home.”
*
Ashley was surprised to walk back into the clinic to find the waiting room filled with patients. Victoria, the other vet tech, was trying to soothe angry humans with equally emotional pets. “What happened?” Ashley asked, walking behind her desk. “Where is Y/n?” She dropped her bag to the floor instead of hanging it up.
“I don’t know,” Victoria said. “But it’s not like her to just leave without letting one of us know.” Ashley frowned but focused her attention on a woman with a very yappy Pomeranian. She smiled, apologized with her best customer service voice, and tried to put out fire after fire.
“Yes,” she said on the phone. “We can reschedule your appointment.” Ashley looked at her calendar and saw the sticky note with your handwriting. It explained that you added another appointment to her online schedule, but Ryan was written at the end of it. Why would you write her name? Unless. “Yes, sorry, I’m here.”
*
Ryan’s hand rested on your thigh, nails digging into the scrubs. The radio was on, filling the empty silence, but you weren’t able to listen to whatever song was playing. Your skin was on fire, and all of your nerve endings were fixated on her hand on you. “Are you excited to go back?” She asked. “It’s been a while since you’ve been.” You were watching the mileage signs, and the exists she was taking. She was driving towards Cape May, New Jersey. It was a 2-hour drive from the city, and her family owned a few properties out there. During the warmer months, you would take the drive and stay at one of the vacation homes. “Come on, sweetheart, why are you so quiet? You love this drive.” You did. Ryan always drove, so it forced her to spend time with you. You cleared your throat.
“How - how have you been?” You asked. “How’s the business?” Ryan’s family was wealthy. Her family owned resorts in a few tropical islands built long before Ryan was born. High-profile guests and celebrities frequented the resorts due to their impeccable service, stunning locations, and commitment to creating unforgettable experiences. But when Ryan’s grandparents inherited Heritage Luxury Resorts, the business began to take a darker turn. They were too focused on maintaining their luxury lifestyle and took advantage of the indigenous population and the land the resorts were built on. Ryan sighed, tightening her hold on you, and winced from the pain.
“Complicated. Mother and father are being difficult.” Before you broke up with Ryan, you overheard a rumor from the staff working in her house that her parents would kick her out of the will. The business would go to her younger brother.
“I’m sorry,” you placed your hand on top of hers. “I know how hard it is to please them.” You had to keep her happy and please her whenever you could.
“See, I knew you would understand,” she picked up your hand and kissed the back of it. “I missed you so much.”
“Missed you too, Ry Ry,” you had to be strong and wait until Kate came to save you.
*
Kate’s blood was boiling. It had been since she received the call from Ashley, and Yelena drove her and America to your work. She watched the security footage of your ex threatening you with a pistol, and you left with her. Her anger was simmering in her stomach, and all she saw was red, but there was lingering guilt. She should have pressed harder for you to take time off, but you loved your job. America placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “She must want to know she is responsible,” Yelena said. “With her money and resources, she could have hired someone to do it for her.”
“I’ll have FRIDAY flag her and Y/n’s passport,” America added. “Keeping them in the states limits the number of properties Ryan could take her.” Kate nodded.
“We have to find her,” Kate said. “Ryan is deeply unhinged.” You spent one night explaining every awful thing she did to you. “I don’t know what she’ll do to her.”
*
Ryan opened the front door to the house for you to walk inside. You could hear the sound of the ocean and smell the salt. It was once senses that provided you comfort. “Go sit, and I’ll make you something to eat.” She kissed your forehead and laced her hand with yours. She led you to the kitchen island and helped you sit on the bar stool. Round the corner, she began to cook. The pistol was on her back. “I can make your favorite. Shrimp scampi.”
“Sounds great,” you forced a smile. It wasn’t your favorite, but it was the only meal she could cook halfway decently. You looked around the house. It has mostly stayed the same since the last time you were there. “Is this where you’ve been staying?” You asked. Ryan nodded.
“I left for here after you broke up with me,” she flashed you a smile. It scared you. “Which was partly my fault that we broke up, but you also allowed your emotions to get in the way.” Was that her half-ass attempt at an apology? Gaslighting you to believe you acted irrationally. Once upon a time, you would have compromised and taken the blame to keep the peace. But that was before you met Kate, the other Avengers, and learned your worth.
“You’re right,” set a bowl in front of you filled with pasta and shrimp that looked like heated-up leftovers. “I should have stayed and not run.”
“See, like I said, so smart. Now enjoy!” you are as you listen to Ryan droning on and on about the legal battles her family was facing. Never stopped to ask how you were doing. It wasn’t always like this - she showed a loving and caring side for the first year and a half. When you were robed in, trapped, she showed her true colors. She made it impossible for you to leave and broke you down, believing no one could ever love you except her. Once you were both done, you washed the dishes and put the leftover food in the fridge. “I have a surprise for you.” She put her arm around you and brought you upstairs to the master bedroom. She gestured at you to open the closed door, but you hesitated. “Open the door, sweetie.” You wanted to refuse, to be stronger than her, but you needed to keep her calm. You had to make her believe you were on her side. Opening the door, you felt sick. The food you ate turned in your stomach; bile moved up your throat. The windows were covered with blackout curtains; the light bulbs were replaced, so the room glowed red. But the walls were covered with pictures. Most were solo pictures of you going to work, walking Lucky, or shopping. The other photos were of you and Kate. However, Ryan photoshopped her face over Kate’s—the dates Kate took you on, Ryan or someone she hired was there. The worst photos were the ones she somehow got you and Kate in bed. You turned to face her. “Do you like it?”
“How? Why?”
“Oh, sweet girl,” she cupped your cheek. “I told you. You are mine. No one can take you from me. I love you, and I know deep down you love me.” No. No. No. At one point, you did. You loved her so much, but now you hated her. You resented everything she did to you that broke you down.
“No,” you mumbled. Ryan hummed in question. “I don’t love you.” You pushed on her chest and ran for the door. She was quick to react and grab your waist. You fought against her, but she was still stronger than you.
“Pretty girl, please, I don’t want to hurt you,” she threw you on the bed and covered your body with hers, pinning your hands above your head. “Stop struggling.” You kept fighting. You couldn’t give up when you had people waiting for you.
“Please let me go, Ryan, please,” you whimpered, tears forming in the corner of your eyes. “I wanna go home.”
“You are home,” Her voice was sickly sweet, and she kissed your cheek dangerously close to your mouth. “You are mine. Now and forever.”
*
“They cross into New Jersey by the Vincent R. Bridge, and that is where FRIDAY loses them,” Sam explained. Kate found it hard to believe anyone could avoid detection from Tony Stark’s AI. They had footage of you being forced into Ryan’s car and then driving to the bridge. After that, the trail goes dark.
“The Heritages have a few properties in New Jersey,” Maria said. “A few in Newark, Secaucus, and Cape May.”
“Why do you need that many properties in New Jersey?” America mumbled. It was a far point, but Kate was stuck on Cape May. She remembered you telling her stories about a vacation home they owned there. Ryan would take you there after a fight.
“Maria, can you pull up the properties they own in Cape May?” Kate asked.
“If we limit apartment buildings and restaurants,” Jesus, Kate thought, were they trying to create a monopoly? “That leads us to four rental properties.” The front of each house was pulled up on the screen. “Satellite imagining shows vehicles at all 4 of them,” Ryan was brilliant but dangerous, and if they chose the wrong house, she should get tipped off.
“What’s going through your mind, Kate?” Yelena asked.
“She told me that Ryan would bring her to one of these houses after a fight,” Kate explained and stood up. “I just have to think. Give me a second,” she stared at the images, racking her brain for any detail.
‘I know I should hate that place,’ you told her. Your head rested on Kate’s lap with your eyes closed as you told her about your time at Cape May. ‘It was a band-aide that was placed on a serious wound. But I loved being able to walk right on the beach.’
“Remove any of them that don’t have direct access to the beach,” one house was removed. Good. It was a start. Think. Think.
‘There was a pool too. I found myself there when she was off doing god knows what.’
“Do any of them have a pool?” All three pictures remained. “Shit,” she rubbed her hands across her face and crossed her fingers behind her head. It had to be something unique.
‘My favorite part was when we would stay in the master suite, there was a fireplace. I’d love to start a fire and read by it.’
“What house has a fireplace in the master bedroom?” She saw Maria smile, and only one house remained. “That’s where Ryan took her.”
“Are you sure?” Sam asked. Yes. No. Maybe.
“Yes, she’s there.” You had to be.
*
Your body ached as the door opened to Ryan with a glass of water and a wet cloth. She had your arms bonded above your head. Your legs were chained, but she undone them before she had her way with you. Ryan whipped the tears off your face and cleaned between your legs. With even more care, she put on a pair of sleep shorts. “Here,” she held the glass to your lips. “Drink,” you refused to even though you desperately wanted to soothe your throat. Your ex sighed and placed the glass on the nightstand where the pistol was. “What’s wrong, sweetheart? Are you not enjoying our time together?” You closed your eyes, lips quivering. “Hey,” she slapped you on the cheek, and your eyes shut open. “I asked you a question, and I expect an answer.”
“No,” you answered honestly. “I want to leave.” She stood up and rolled her sleeves to her elbows.
“I gave you everything,” she said. “You are nothing without me. You left me,” she banged her fist against her chest. “For a wannabe Avenger. For a washed-up aristocratic.”
“Don’t talk to her like that,” you said. “She is everything you aren’t. You are a -” You let out a shaky breath. “You had your chance, and you blew it. You ripped it up, chewed it, and the more talk you prove it.” Ryan straddled your chest, hand gripping your throat.
“Keep talking. I fucking dare you.” Something snapped inside you. There was so much rage in your stomach.
“You’re such a.” She grabbed the pistol and put it to your temple. “Did you think I would let you crawl back into my life after everything we’ve been through? I’m finally doing better without you.” You spit in her face. A sheering pain rippled through your head. The face before you became unfocused, and it was getting harder to keep your eyes open—a ringing formed in your ears. You couldn’t tell if it was the concussion or if you heard the door was forced open. Suddenly, Ryan’s body was ripped off of you, and different hands grabbed onto you. You knew these hands. Warm, calloused hands. She was saying your name, and your arms were freed.
“Kate?” You whispered.
“Yeah, baby, it’s me,” you choked out a sob and put your arms around her neck, pulling her closer. “I know. I know.” Her voice shook. “You’re safe. Let’s get you home.”
*
For the first time in the Heritage family’s history, their money and power couldn’t protect them. Ryan was sentenced to prison, and you helped the prosecutors bring down the Heritage family and gave the land back to the ingenious people they stole it from.
Recovery was slow. The injury on your head from Ryan hitting you with the pistol healed, but you would flinch at every loud noise whenever someone touched you, and your nightmares made you believe Ryan was coming back for you. Work allowed you as much time off as needed, so you spent your days locked away in Kate’s apartment.
You were sitting on the window ledge, head resting on the glass. Your hand was running through Lucky’s fur. “Hi,” Kate said, sitting down in front of you. The archer put her Avenger duties on hold until you were better. You felt a little guilty for it.
“Hi,” you whispered, grabbing her hand and interlocking your fingers with hers.
“How’s today going?” She never asked how you were doing. You grew tired of everyone asking you, so she changed the wording but meant the same thing.
“Today is good,” you answered honestly. It was good. There was no nightmare last night that woke you up. You joined Kate on her walk with Lucky. “Katie,” you hummed in question. “You are,” you paused. Was there a singular word to describe her? “Everything. I don’t think I could get through this without you.” The archer smiled.
“Of course you would have,” she said. “You are so much stronger than you think you are. So much more than whatever lies she told you. You are my beautiful, wonderful, brilliant, and strong girlfriend.” You whipped away a few tears that escaped your eyes. “And I will remind you every single day.”
“Yeah?” You smiled. “Every single day?” She giggled, kissing the back of your hand.
“You are stuck with me, baby. I sincerely apologize,” her eyes widened slightly. “Unless you want to get rid of me, then I would understand, but I would be sad.” You giggled. With a roll of your eyes, you moved to sit between her legs. She rested her head on your shoulder.
“I love you,” you whispered. She squeaked but covered the surprise noise with kisses on your neck.
“I love you too,” she softly spoke. In your apartment or hers or at the Avenger tower, with Kate’s arms around you, you were home.

Silent Treatment- Kate Bishop
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kate Bishop x Reader
Characters: Kate Bishop
Warnings: N/A
Request: Anon- Hi, are you taking requests right now? If so could I request female (avenger?) Reader giving Kate Bishop the silent treatment one-shot??
Word Count: 488
Author: Charlotte
“Come on Y/N,” Kate huffed. “Talk to me.”
You rotated yourself in your seat to turn your back to your girlfriend as you had been repeatedly doing over the last quarter of an hour. Although as a whole you loved Kate dearly, she had annoyed you beyond reason currently and the silent treatment seemed like a fitting punishment for her. It wasn’t something you pulled from your arsenal often, but it was certainly one of the most effective ways to get your point across to Kate.
An exasperated sign escaped Kate, frustration consuming her. Maybe it was immature for you to keep up the silent treatment, but you couldn’t deny the amusement you felt when it came to riling up Kate. Her annoyance had finally bubbled up to her tipping point and she was going to retaliate with an equally heinous response.
Without warning, she leapt on top of you, forcing herself into your lap so that there was no way for you to turn around from her this time- you’d have no choice but to face her. Kate began her onslaught on your sides, tickling you without any remorse. You screamed out for help between pained laughs, no longer able to be silent, rather having to beg her to release you from her heartless attacks.
“Are you going to talk to me?” Kate asked, using her body weight and position to pin you down onto the sofa without any way to escape.
“Whatever,” you screeched. “Let me go.”
She offered you benevolence and stopped tickling you but continued to sit on top of you to make sure that she could restart attacking you at any moment if you didn’t comply with her terms.
“It’s really stupid that you’ve refused to talk to me all day,” she frowned.
“I haven’t got anything to say to you,” you said, scrunching up your nose at her. “You know what you did.”
Kate rolled her eyes at you. “I don’t get why you’re mad at me. I got a chance to be a superhero, it was hardly something I could pause and come get you first.”
Your eyes darted away from hers. It may have been petty, but it was something that had bothered you more than it should have. The two of you had been enamoured with the avengers and how much good they did, you had had dreams that you would be able to do the same and she had been able to live that dream without you.
“I’m not annoyed that you got to be a superhero, I’m annoyed that you didn’t even consider me being your sidekick.”
She laughed, moving a hand to cup your cheek.
“Honey, I was the sidekick. I could hardly have one of my own.”
“I’m still annoyed,” you pouted.
Kate pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead. “I promise next time I get to be a superhero I’ll give you a call.”

April Fools - Kate Bishop
Pairings: Kate Bishop x Fem! reader.
Warnings: Fluff, romantic comedy, cuteness overload because I miss Kate, reader is Spider-Girl.
Word count: 1765.
Tumblr media
Kate looks up from her place on the couch to see Y/n in the kitchen with Yelena teaching the blonde how to make her favorite dessert, Brazilian brigadeiro, after they made the whole dinner by themselves. Both were entertained as Y/n made little balls of chocolate and rolled on the sprinkles, completely unaware that Kate is observing Y/n’s every move.
“You look like a stalker,” Clint said next to her, making her, reluctantly, look at him with a questioning look. “Have you ever realized how much you stare Y/n? Every time move she makes is caught because you look at her like a motion detection camera.”
Kate opens her mouth to say something, but it closes quickly. There is nothing she can tell Clint to get out of this position, he caught her, and both know it. The raise of his eyebrow is enough evidence.
“Don’t you think it would be easier if you just talked to her?” He continues to question.
“She is my best friend, Clint.” Kate sighs, looking over her shoulder and seeing Y/n hand Yelena one small chocolate ball, the blonde caught it looking for a few seconds as if inspecting. “I don’t want to ruin our friendship, it’s better if we stay like this.”
“I think that’s stupid.” He bluntly says, shaking his head and sighing. “And you’ll just keep looking at her like a puppy waiting for an owner?”
“Yes.” She said without thinking much, before turning to him quickly. “Wait, that’s rude!”
“It’s the truth.”
“Oh, this is good!” Yelena says in the kitchen, and Kate looks back at them. Yelena has her eyes wide, one hand holding Y/n’s forearm and the other throwing the rest of the chocolate in her mouth. “This is very very good.”
“Right? Now you understand why it’s my favorite.” Y/n replies with a cute small laugh that makes Kate look at her yearning. “Now c’mon, help me make the rest.”
“She will find out, you’re very bad at hiding.” Clint was vocal again, but this time he was getting up, about to stop the commotion in the kitchen due to Yelena making another brigadeiro just to throw in her mouth. “Hey, get out of there, Yelena.”
“Shut up, these are made to be eaten.” Yelena narrows her eyes at him, challenging him.
“Go sit with Kate, Yelena, I will make some extra for you.” Y/n sighs as she points to the living room. “But only if you sit there and don’t steal more brigadeiros.”
“Fine.” She fake complains and gives Clint a hard stare as if saying ‘don’t you dare eat my damn chocolate’.
“Can you make little balls for me, Clint? I’ll make more for Yelena before she kills someone because of chocolate.” Y/n asks before showing Clint what needs to be done.
“Smart girl, I would not hesitate,” Yelena replies as she sits on the couch where the older archer had been before. “You were staring like a creep, Kate Bishop.”
Kate almost chokes on her saliva as she hears it. Not only her mentor, and best friend, had noticed, but now Yelena had noticed too. And maybe Clint was right, it wouldn’t be long until Y/n realizes as well.
Okay, she was a bit slower at noticing romantic advances and Kate would often give really good excuses for her staring, but she wasn’t stupid.
“Is it that obvious?” Kate asks and Yelena nods with a funny face.
“Maybe not to her yet, but she is a superhero. Quick thinking and all of that.”
“Goddamn it!” Kate complains putting her hands on her face with a sigh. “I’m doomed, Yelena.”
“Tomorrow is that day,” Yelena says, trying to remember. “April Fools, use that!”
Kate looks at Yelena clearly confused.
“Do I have to do everything? A prank, that is not a prank.” She rolls her eyes at Kate. “Jesus, Kate Bishop, love made you slow.”
“I’m both offended and grateful.” Kate said as she shook her head.
As the archer leaned her back into the sofa thinking about what she would do tomorrow. Yelena was right, she could use this opportunity to put up to test the strong chemistry between them, but Y/n didn’t make it much clear if she actually felt something romantic for Kate or just as a friend.
Yelena had left Kate’s apartment late at night, Clint went to sleep on Kate’s bed while Kate and Y/n had left early to go to her apartment. Y/n had inconveniently forgotten her Spider-Girl suit charging and the other one was still drying from when she accidentally fell at the lake. But it allowed Clint to have a better night’s rest with Lucky and no unstoppable laughs coming from the girls.
Kate woke up in the morning confused as to why Y/n was screaming her name in desperation, she sat up trying to open her eyes and focus on her distressed best friend.
“I’m up, what’s going on?” Kate asked shoving the covers to the side and getting up, almost falling in the process, vision still blurred.
“I lost my powers!” Y/n said and to make her point she tried to shoot a web and miserably failed.
“What?!”
“Exactly!” Y/n ran her hands through her hair, which was very disheveled. “I have no idea why this is happening, oh my god.”
Kate is still trying to process as she gets close and puts a hand on Y/n’s shoulder. “Is there something stressing you up? We will get to the bottom of this!”
“I mean, yes… My ex texted me saying they want us to get back.” Y/n sighed as she revealed.
“That little shit-“ Kate breathes in angrily. “I have excellent aim Y/n; I will shoot them!”
“Kate, there’s no-“ Y/n interrupts herself and scrunches her nose up, her mouth opening as she is clearly about to sneeze. “A-a-atchoo!”
Y/n sneezes and Kate’s face is suddenly full of webbing. Her best friend laughs out loud, helping to take out all the webbing covering her eyes, nose and mouth.
“Oops, I think it was webbing constipation.” Y/n defends herself poorly. “April fools!”
“Oh, you-!” Kate says as both manage to take the web out of her face, and she goes to the bathroom to take out the rest and brush her teeth, ignoring how Y/n’s cute smile released the whole zoo inside her stomach.
“Sorry, I couldn’t resist!” Y/n defends herself, leaning on the door. “You always do something, so I wanted to get you first!”
Kate silently brushes her teeth taking the rest of the web and Y/n helps clean her hair. Kate finishes brushing her teeth and suddenly pulls the other close, pressing the spiderling against the sink, one hand on each side of the woman. Y/n’s demeanor changes immediately, eyes widening, breath hitching, cheeks burning crimson and making it very visible to the archer her frustration.
“You shouldn’t play with me like that, Y/n.” Kate says slowly, and Y/n visibly gulps looking deep into her dark blue eyes.
Kate’s fall comes quickly after that, Y/n forcefully changes their places and now the archer was the one being pressed against the sink, eyes wide in surprise at the overconfident way her best friend had done that.
“You accepted that the day you turned into my best friend, Bishop, you were very aware and if anything you think I'm funny as hell.”
Kate gulped, before blurting out. “I like you.” Y/n rolled her eyes as the other one added. “Romantically.”
“Haha, Kate, I already know it’s April Fools.” The spiderling answers, shaking her head. “C’mon I thought you could be more original.”
“I am being original; this is reverse April Fools.” Kate defended herself. “I’m telling the truth instead.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Y/n still didn’t believe her as she pulled away.
Kate then put both hands on the sides of Y/n’s face and pulled her in for a long peck. She felt Y/n get rigid, then sigh slightly as she relaxed, however as if a sudden bucket of cold water was thrown in her head, she gently pushed Kate back.
“Katherine!” She said with wide eyes and crimson cheeks.
“I am being serious now; I didn’t know how to tell you and Yelena suggested doing a prank that was real.” The archer started to talk, looking away a bit embarrassed. “I was planning on a more elaborate prank to see if you felt something for me too, but… I kind of lost my cool.”
“I…“ Y/n was speechless, finally downing on her what was happening.
“I am in love with you, reverse April fools!” Kate sings shaking her hands a bit as silence fills the room.
The other woman suddenly scoffs, shaking her head as she clearly cannot believe her ears. But it’s Kate that is shocked when she speaks again.
“It fucking took you long enough, Kate, seriously. Yelena had to suggest that? Jeez.” Y/n rolls her eyes as she gets closer and kisses Kate’s cheek. “I’m also in love with you, idiot.”
“I swear to god if you’re playing me right now-“ Kate narrows her eyes, getting distrustful.
“I will kiss you to prove it.” Y/n shrugged.
“A real one, no bromancing!” The archer raises an eyebrow, defying Y/n to do that. “Bromance without the bro.”
“…Mance?” Y/n asks in confusion.
“I meant romance actually.” Kate corrects herself, sheepishly.
“I think you should stop talking.” Y/n laughs as she shakes her head.
“I am trying to, but you’re taking too long to kiss me!” The other one defends herself yet again.
Y/n makes the last step and kisses Kate, first a long peck, but then both deepened the kiss putting all their bottled-up feelings into it. When they separated, breathing hard, both laughed.
“Okay, this really isn’t a prank.” Kate said, breathless as she looked lovingly into Y/n’s eyes.
“I’m not sure yet, I think you need to keep kissing me to try and convince me.” Y/n says, clearly not meaning it, but making more excuses to kiss Kate.
“Oh, how dreadful.” Kate replies, smiling. "Normally I'd say you need to put more trust in me but... I don't know, we need to really make sure this isn't a prank."
She had to remember to thank Yelena later, maybe pamper the shit out of her with some brigadeiros and spicy food as a thank you. She would definitely be happy with that.
In the meanwhile, Kate would take her time kissing her best friend, current lover, and future girlfriend. They obviously needed to make sure it wasn’t a prank (an excuse they would use even in the future).

Mihawk x Fem!reader
Part 2
Summary: You make a living as a thief, stealing for your own benefit and working alone. One day you will cross paths with Mihawk and they will declare themselves bitter enemies.
Warnings: Enemies to lovers trope, not proofread, very poor conection to op universe, canon divergence, the reader makes judgmental comments towards men, mention of blood and and injurie
Word Count: 2k
A/N: This is purely and exclusively inspired by the Puss in Boots movie, why? I don't know, don't ask me because I don't have a clear answer lol
Tumblr media
You were squatting at the top of a terrace hidden behind a tower, from up there you could see your objective with shining eyes. You smiled and raised your scarf until it covered your nose and mouth completely. You slowly slid across the roof while adjusting the front laces of your black cape where you wore your pirate look underneath it.
Discretion had always been your greatest strength and you always had to go unnoticed if you wanted to achieve everything you set out to do. The life of a pirate thief has its rewards: adrenaline, treasures, etc. But also its cons, many people were after you, especially the government, there were even posters searching for you and capturing you, luckily no one knew who you were since you always wore your cape and your scarf, plus the added bonus that your hair was hidden in your hat.
You always used to say that if you wanted to do a job well done you had to do it alone, that's why you didn't have a crew or assistants or anything and even less men, you felt like you couldn't trust anyone. Do you remember the afternoons at your mother's house always saying the same silly saying: "Actually Columbus's wife was the one who discovered America, because the man couldn't even find his shoes." You laughed softly, repeating her words in a low voice, in the end she was right, men are useless, you discovered that when your father abandoned you both.
You approached the ledge of a balcony with your entire body against the wall and hidden behind some tall palm trees but without losing sight of your objective. Near a market a sailor had poorly stored a devil fruit that he had found. You had followed him closely to see what he would do with it, the middle-aged man looked everywhere nervous of being discovered while he put the fruit in a wooden box and covered it with a worn blanket. The poor fool didn't know that a shadow was lurking from above ready to attack, that fruit had to be yours no matter what. Smiling under your scarf, you were about to go ashore when you saw something that left you frozen. A tall individual dressed in a cape and a wide hat with feathers was approaching with long, slow steps towards where the fruit was blocking your objective. The man didn't seem to realize that a devil fruit was hidden there, he just looked around indifferently. Shit, you thought. Surely the government had sent him to capture you and now he was looking for you, although luckily he had not seen you yet.
Cursing quietly, you climbed back up to the roof without losing sight of him and went down the back, hiding in some leafy bushes, analyzing each of his movements as you slowly approached the stand where the hidden fruit was. You had heard about him before, if you didn't they would say you lived under a rock. Mihawk known as the lord of war was the most popular and skilled swordsman, everyone was afraid and respected him but you didn't care, you were also quite good at your job and until now you had not been discovered, the only thing you had fear is that he would discover your plans or that he would discover you. Now Dracule had his back turned and only his long cloak and wide-brimmed black hat were visible. You crept even closer stealthily like a cat while still hiding behind bushes or barrels without being seen.
You kept drilling Mihawk's back with your eyes so as not to lose sight of him. He seemed to sigh boredly as he looked into the distance. When you were close enough to the crate and the sailor was out of sight, you removed the dirty blanket, uncovering the fruit, and were about to grab it when the sound of a sword being drawn and hitting the edge of the fruit crate near your hands as a warning to you. you stopped When you looked up in surprise you found Mihawk's amber eyes boring into yours.
"I could feel your gaze on my neck, although I thought it was an annoying mosquito"- The man said, raising an eyebrow curiously.
You looked at him furiously, feeling your blood boil, you were always careful with all your movements, but apparently this Mihawk guy was not a fool at all. Had you underestimated men, perhaps, this one? Slowly growling, you moved your body away from the fruit with your hands up even while crouching.
"Very well, what you will do now is withdraw without tricks"
You pretended to bow your head in defeat but with a quick movement you took your hand behind your back and unsheathed the sword that you had hidden under your tunic. With a blow you decided to attack Mihawk but he already saw this coming and simply clashed his sword against yours to avoid the blow to his chest. He looked at your saber and laughed lightly, your sword compared to his was smaller (or rather his was abnormally larger than any other). He raised an eyebrow again, visibly amused by your attitude, not many dared to challenge him but he delighted in the few people who had the courage (or stupidity) to fight him.
"So the little brat knows how to defend himself, interesting"
His peaceful attitude in contrast to yours made you more furious than you already were, he prevented you from taking the fruit but when you attacked he barely defended himself? Was he doing it out of boredom? Gritting your teeth, you attacked again, putting your foot forward and extending your arm, but Mihawk dodged your blow and you clashed your sword with his again. Several attacks followed where he only defended himself and never started the attacks as if he knew he already had the battle won before he even started. Your body was almost shaking with rage and your breathing accelerated while he remained calm as if it were child's play. Bastard. You wanted to shout at him to attack and not be a coward but you restrained yourself and started running to buy time.
"Do you want to play cat and mouse then? As you wish"- He sighed
You ran trying not to burn all your energy so quickly, you avoided boxes by jumping over them and you passed between people without touching them as if you were as thin as a noodle. You felt like you were already quite far from your pursuer so you smiled satisfied and turned your head back. And that was a mistake. Shocked you saw that Dracule Mihawk was hot on your heels, it didn't seem like he was running but rather he was flying. You began to run faster and turned a corner of a house and climbed the balcony to reach the roof just when he hit the heel of your shoe with his sword, although without hurting you. Without looking down you ran along the roofs of the houses and jumping over the tiles while he followed you below and did not lose sight of you.
It was a wild chase where your strength already seemed to begin to abandon you slightly while his was still intact. Feeling your thighs burning, you jumped onto another roof further away and fell with a somersault to get back on your feet and go down a ladder and continue along another path. This time it seemed that Mihawk had given up and had not followed you, you laughed satisfied looking back as you continued running but suddenly something large collided with you and with a groan you fell to the ground while the tip of a sword was pointed at you. You raised your head and saw the tall man with yellow eyes staring at you with one corner of his lips turned up slightly.
"The game is over little mouse, the cat won"
You were not one to give up easily, so with your sword still in your hand, you took his sword out of your sight and jumped up, pushing him and running towards the only exit that he was covering with his back, preventing your escape route. Mihawk was just as fast and grabbed your wrist firmly to spin you around on your trunk and pull you towards him like it was a dangerous dance. You collided with his bare chest with a loud noise, you tried to get out of his grip by twisting like a worm but he wouldn't let you go. Being so close to him you could feel the heat emanating from his skin and you could hear his heartbeat which was fast, apparently the race had tired him out.
"I told you, you should have given up when you had the chance."
"And what are you going to do now, huh?"- You spat angrily, forcing a grave and deep voice to preserve your identity.
"Mmh" -He pretended to think- "What I do with you now is none of your business, in fact it's not even my business."
You didn't want to hear him talk anymore so you stomped his foot hard with your heel. Mihawk growled and let go of you as he bent forward slightly and closed his eyes. He didn't seem as calm as before and his muscles tensed a little. You walked away from him and shouted in a deep voice.
"You work for the government right? They sent you to capture me?!"
Dracule stood up straight and regained his composure. "Oh I just took this little job because I wanted some entertainment. I didn't even know why they were so obsessed with you although after seeing you in action I think I can understand it.."
He seemed amused by the situation, he kept looking at you with those hawk eyes that seemed to hide mischief and mockery towards you. It was more than you could tolerate and you moved your sword again to hurt him but he simply with a quick movement of his wrist not only pushed your sword away but also made a cut on your cheek. You closed your eyes tightly as you felt the itch of the wound on your cheek and fell to the ground in surprise. The force of the blow caused your hat to fall forward and some strands of long hair could be seen. You had your back towards the swordsman so he couldn't see you well yet. You took off your handkerchief to touch the wound with a grimace of pain, seeing your fingers were stained with blood.
"Enough. You're wearing out my patience."
You stood up slowly in pain and grunting but this time with your normal voice which surprised Mihawk a little since it sounded slightly higher pitched. When you stood up completely your hair fell completely behind you and he frowned. You turned around to face him angrily, now your scarf was no longer covering your face and the man could see that you were clearly a woman.
"Well, well" -He said low, looking at you from top to bottom- "This is a pleasant surprise"
Mihawk closed the distance between him and you with his long, slow steps while you tried to walk away but seemed rooted to the ground. Dracule was a few centimeters close to you and since he was incredibly taller than you his face was slightly downward. You avoided eye contact but you still perceived his yellow eyes traveling over your face as if it were the first time he had seen a woman. Suddenly Mihawk's soft fingers traveled to your jaw and slid under your chin to lift it up and force you to look at him. His threatening, yellow eyes burned your retinas and you felt intimidated. The man let out a low laugh.
"You have guts ma'am. I didn't expect to find an opponent as good as you."
You closed your fingers around Dracule's wrist and moved it away, closing your eyes, trying not to look at him, but his amber eyes were still in your head. Remembering the reckless woman you were, you challenged him by raising your chin.
"So? I asked you what you were going to do with me now, Dracule Mihawk."
The tall man narrowed his eyes slightly upon hearing her full name. He went from your lips to your eyes analyzing you. He would never admit it but deep inside he was greatly amused by your cheeky attitude and how you had dared to face him.
"You know what? I'll set you free. And you better hurry because they're probably coming."
You opened your eyes and were speechless as your lips parted slightly. You expected him to hand you over to the authorities, even stab you, anything but that. Was Mihawk going soft…for a woman? Seeing you frozen and unable to speak, Mihawk raised an eyebrow and smiled a small smile that seemed almost invisible.
"Didn't you hear me? Go now, if you value your life."
Mihawk turned around adjusting his hat and putting his sword back away as he climbed the ladder you had used to get down there. You shook your head and regained movement. You bent down to grab your hat and put it on while you covered your face with your scarf and walked away at fast steps trying to find another hiding place and then run away. Before losing sight of you, Mihawk turned his head with a look of satisfaction towards where you had fled to see you for the last time… or not.

World’s Greatest Archer
Kate Bishop X Reader
Summary: Your part time job as an archery instructor, one of the many jobs you had to keep you afloat, just so happened to allow you to come across a pretty new face. After inviting her to a class of yours, she invites you to dinner the following night. What’s the worst that could happen?
Warnings: afab reader, mentions of exercise, suggestive physical contact, blatant ogling, canon level violence, kissing, allusions to smut, swearing?
Word Count: 1.5K
Tumblr media
You lived a life of many dreams, that’s why you were living alone in New York City. That’s why you were simultaneously trying to make your childhood broadway dreams come true, going to school to get a degree and consequently a real job if need be, and working a few part time jobs to keep the lights on and your refrigerator stocked occasionally.
Regardless, one of your jobs you looked on more favorably was your part time gig as an archery instructor. Archery was another one of your passions growing up, and getting to practice it to this day was so fun. Also, the gym where you teach includes a membership with your employment. So you got to stay in shape too, and even sometimes, meet a new face.
You had just sat down at a machine that had been empty for a while to do some chest presses. Feeling particularly hot after the previous machine you had just used, you looked around to see the gym sparsely occupied and decided to take off your oversized modesty workout shirt. Leaving you in just some skin tight biker shorts and your sports bra that may have been a size too small for you, but it was in your favorite color!
Purple.
Someone else noticed your spilling breasts out of your tight purple sports bra, but you never noticed her. She stood quietly, having made her way back to the machine you were currently at about 30 seconds ago upon realizing she forgot her water bottle there. When she sees you, she quickly thanks lesbain jesus for this opportunity she’s been presented with. Her eyes traveled from your chest to your arms, caught on the subtle way your bicep flexes when you lift the bars. As your arms come down completely and she realizes this is her chance, she makes her move.
“Hi, sorry. I left my water bottle at this machine earlier on accident, it’s right behind you.”
A woman your age said as she appeared before you, wearing a cute purple and pink fitted jacket with a zipper brought down just far enough for you to-
“Oh, let me grab that for you!” you say immediately as you process her words. Leaning back with your left arm as you grab the water bottle. Not meaning to, you stretch your chest out and forward as you reach. It’s only for a moment, but it’s a moment she catches and indulges in. Then just as quick, you pulled forward and extended your arm with her water bottle in hand.
“Here you go. . .” you paused, intrigued to learn this beautiful woman’s name.
“Kate, Kate Bishop. . . where’d you get that bruise on your arm?” Kate said with a bit of a tone, was someone hurting you?
“Oh yeah, I got to teach an archery class of mine what happens when you don’t wear an arm guard.” you said simply and the pretty woman looked so confused, some people weren’t too familiar with the sport so you figured that was her case based on her reaction.
“You’re uh, you’re an archery teacher?” her mouth was running dry.
“I mean, I’m an instructor here. Just part time. But you should come to one of my classes! If you want, or whatever.” you spoke softly, getting shy at the end, but Kate was quick for a rebuttal.
“I’d love to!” Kate agrees instantly.
“Great! I actually have a beginners class in about 15 minutes. Would you come?” you offered eagerly.
Of course Kate agrees, she wants to spend more time with you as soon as possible.
No matter the fact that she had to feign ignorance about everything. But that was just it, the more she didn’t understand, the more confused she got; the more attention she got from you. Maybe you caught on when Kate was asking you for a lot of physical help, like what position to stand in, how far apart her legs should be, how high she should bring her arms.
Not that you weren’t basking in it, getting to run your hands all over her body to guide her was tantalizing. Small, intimate questions shared throughout the class as you repeatedly checked in on Kate. Getting to know each other a little better, might as well anyways since she’s pressing into you as you stand behind her to align her form with your body. If others weren’t in this class today, the lesson plan would’ve looked very different.
Just like that, class was over; and the tension was cut. But only for a moment, until Kate came back up to you after racking her bow. “Y’know, I think I might need some kind of verbal discussion to get a better handle of this sport, think we could do dinner tomorrow night? My place?”
Damn, she’s good; and bold. You smirked at her “I thought you’d never ask.”
//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\
She’s totally done this before, it’s got to be a bit or something. You thought to yourself as you looked at the beauty in front of you. A beautiful woman, and a beautiful charcuterie board. Kate claimed she’s never made one before, and just grabbed the works from the grocery store like two hours before you arrived. Did I mention she bought a delicious bottle of red wine as well?
You two enjoyed a lovely dinner (yes, a charcuterie board counts as dinner.) and as you watched Kate take in her last bite in somehow in a very elegant, attractive way. She noticed you lingering stare and bit her lip playfully in response. “See something you like?” Kate teased, but before you could form a response there was a loud crash at her balcony window and she was in front of you in a second. “Stay behind me.” she whispered in a soft yet firm tone.
Kate took a few steps forward, reaching under her dining room table first removing a small model of a compound bow followed by a leather quiver of arrows. Latching the quiver to a belt on her hips, and knocking an arrow as she continued to tiptoe to her balcony to find the source of the crash. When she rounded the corner and saw two ‘old friends’ (if you can even call them that) from the tracksuit mafia, Kate immediately told you to go run and hide underneath the kitchen table.
Running as quickly as you could, you slipped underneath the table with ease, shaking slightly behind the chairs that surrounded the table and simultaneously kept you covered. But also gave you a perfect window to see how Kate was doing. You did not expect to look up and find Kate forcefully kicking one man back and then perfectly shooting the other one in the thigh. Fighting them both with such skill and such ease. You were amazed, entranced, absolutely enamored.
Kate rids the intruders of her apartment and then immediately drops everything and comes back to you, getting you out from under the table and bringing you to her bedroom. She inspects you all over looking you up and down a hundred times “Are you okay? Please tell me you’re not hurt.”
Maybe it was watching her fight, maybe it was the classy meats and cheeses, but something was making all of Kate’s words unintelligible soft melodies as you just looked up at her dreamily and wiped a bit of blood from her lip. Kate stopped fretting over you and froze upon your touch, her eyes flicking between your own and your lips. It’s a moment and not much more except this time Kate seizes the moment and her lips are on yours.
It’s a relieving feeling, a ‘this is how it should be’ kind of feeling when you kiss. Her soft pink pouted lips perfectly slotted over yours, the faint taste of brie and malbec on her tongue as she gently swipes at your lips, asking for entrance. Easily, you part your lips and kiss Kate with a certain wholeness that felt so right. It’s quick, your breathing is getting heavy, her hands are at your knees, traveling higher, and higher, and then-
“Wait a second.” you said pulling away abruptly. Kate immediately pulled back as well to listen to your concerns.
“You were absolutely clueless at my beginner’s archery class last night, and tonight I find out you’re The World’s Greatest Archer?!”
Kate’s cheeks went pink “Yeah. . . and? What about it?” she said in a small voice, all shy trying to play it down.
“Aaaaaaand, you lied to me?? Used me even!” you said with a touch of dramatic spunk, not actually minding if she took your class just to get close to you. At this point Kate got a sinister smirk on her face.
“Oh honey. . .” Kate trailed off, pushing you back onto her bed and climbing on top of you “I’m gonna use you alright, in fact I’m gonna use you just right.”
A/N
(SPOILERS FOR ‘The Marvels’ AHEAD)
Well when I walked into the movie theater to watch ‘the marvels’ the last thing I expected to see was a Kate Bishop cameo, or to develop a thing for her character. But here I am!! About time I wrote fic about a female marvel character considering I’m a queer ass bitch who won’t date men irl 🤩🤩 anyways Kate is definitely one of my new characters I’m totally in love with so if you want to see more fics about her send me a request!! G-d knows I need to get back to writing more often…

starting this rant off with the fact that i love RA. i adore Rangers Apprentice and i have since i first read it at age 8, but holy hell does Flanagan have a lot to answer for in terms of the archery.
Flanagan was in no way an archery expert, and neither am i, but i have been shooting recurve bows since i was old enough to hold them (my first time shooting was hysterical, the bow was bigger than me) and i know a bit about the differing types of bow, arrow, fletching, etc. and how different bows are designed for different people.
my first issue is that fact that Halt, who is canonically Short As Hell, uses an english long bow. this has nothing to do with strength and everything to do with the fact that the bow is bigger than him. he MIGHT be able to bring it to 3/4 draw with his arm length. i’m 5’4 and cannot possibly shoot more than 30” (apologies for the imperial, i’m north american) arrows, and long bow arrows are usually at least half a foot longer than that.
we stan one Short King but it doesn’t matter how buff you are, shooting a longbow is basically pointless if you can’t even bring it to full draw

A thank you for saving me
Tumblr media
Summary:  Yelena and Kate found you on a mission to free a Widow still under Red Room Control. You soon find yourself in a relationship with the archer and Black Widow but Thanksgiving spent at the Barton's farm makes you worried that your not enough for them. Laura is there to help.
Word Count: 3.6k
Warnings: Past abuse, torture, mention of Natasha’s death, Reader was with HYDRA, fluff
The outside world was confusing. It was loud. It was exhausting. But you were grateful to be alive. Yelena and Kate found you in a warehouse in Germany while they were trying to free a Widow. You were tied in a chair; bleeding, bruised, and your arm broken. Well, that was what they told you. You didn’t have memories of how you got there but you woke up in their safehouse. After you healed, you helped them save the Widow that they were after. Once the Widow was saved, Kate invited you to their shared apartment in New York City. That was 9 months ago. For the first time in your life, you had a safe place to live because of that your mind and body began to heal. You remembered that your parents gave you to a man that you met a park. They were after you because of your ability to manipulate sand particles. You were forced to work for the organization. It was hard trying to put all of that behind you but Yelena and Kate were very helpful.
*
You were laying on the couch mindlessly watching the snowfall as you ran your hand through Fanny’s fur. Lucky was laying at your feet. You were the first one awake in the apartment. Truth be told, you awoke from a nightmare and couldn’t go back to sleep. You heard boards creaking as the other residents in the apartment awake. It was Yelena. She was lighter on her feet than Kate. Fanny didn’t stir when Yelena walked into the living room. “Good morning, dorogy.” You gave her a tired smile. “Another nightmare.” She said, sitting down next to you. You nodded. “Why didn’t you wake us up?” The Russian asked. You shrugged looking back out the window.
“Didn’t want to bother you.” Your voice was rough from disuse. Yelena took your free hand in yours.
“We are here for you.” You nodded. “Do you want to help with breakfast?” She asked. You nodded again. Yelena kissed the back of your hand. You blushed as she stood up and walked into the kitchen. When you first met the archer and the Black Widow you knew right away that they were dating. You didn’t know a lot but picking up clues and body language was part of your training with HYDRA. The relationship between you, the Black Widow, and the archer was new, about 4 months. It was another thing you had to get used to. Fanny whined as you got off the couch and joined the blonde in the kitchen. She handed you a bowl to mix. Pancakes were a go to breakfast food in this apartment.
“When are we leaving for Iowa?” You asked, mixing the batter. For Thanksgiving, the Bartons invited Yelena and Kate to their home. The invite extended to you, which you were a little nervous about.
“We are leaving at 5.” You nodded, passing the bowl to Yelena.
“Are you sure you're okay with going?” She asked. “We can have Thanksgiving here.” You shook your head.
“No, it’s fine. I’ll be okay.” You didn’t want to change your girlfriend’s plan because you were a little anxious to go somewhere new and meet new people. You heard Kate walk around and downstairs. The dogs immediately ran over to her to say good morning. She gave them equal amounts of attention before making her way to the kitchen.
“Good morning,” she said, kissing you and Yelena on the cheek. She turned on the coffee pot. Coffee wasn’t for you but both of your girlfriends loved it. Once the coffee was on, she came back and wrapped her arms around your waist, resting her head on your shoulder. “How did you sleep?” She asked. You knew you couldn’t lie because Yelena knew the truth. The Black Widow turned her back to use the stovetop. You sighed, enjoying the feeling of her arms around you.
“I had a nightmare,” you mumbled. “I’m sorry I didn’t wake you up.” You felt her shake your head against you.
“You’re okay. I’m proud of you for even telling us.” You smiled, even though she couldn’t see it.
“Breakfast is ready.” Yelena said. “Break it up you two.” Kate let go of you and you turned around to see the archer roll her eyes. “Can you grab the syrup, solntse (sun)?” Yelena asked. You nodded, opening the fridge and grabbed the syrup. You joined your girlfriends at the table as they told you about Barton’s Farm. You were excited but your nerves were all over the place.
*
You determined that Thanksgiving was the strangest holiday, all in the name of some guy that killed and conquered a bunch of people. According to Lila, it was more about family than the history behind it. The Bartons were nice and welcomed you into the family without hesitation. Nathaniel was fascinated with your ability and wouldn’t leave your side. Once food was eaten, you helped Laura with the dishes. You joined the rest in the living room. Kate and Yelena were on the couch and sat on the floor in front of them. Right away Nat sat on your lap. “Squirt, leave the poor girl alone.” Clint said to his youngest.
“I don’t mind.” You smiled, taking off the necklace you had. It was a gift but you weren’t sure who gave it to you. He held out his hand and you dumped the sand in his palm. “What do you want?” You asked.
“A star,” Lila said before her brother could answer. You nodded, waving your hand over the sand. The particles began to move and you carefully crafted the sand into a star. Once it was solid, you flew the star around the living room and around Lila. You brought the sand back to his hand. The next hour was filled with requests and you were happy to fulfill them because for once your powers were used to make people laugh instead of hurting them.
*
A nightmare woke you up. You quietly got out of the bed but you heard Kate wake up. “Where are you going?” She asked, her voice low from sleep.
“Just the bathroom,” you whispered, pushing some hair behind her ear. “Go back to sleep.” She nodded, closing her eyes. It wasn’t a total lie. You went to the bathroom first to splash cold water on your face. You wanted to go back to bed and curl up against your girlfriends. But you knew you’d slip back into another nightmare and you didn’t have the energy for that. Plus the room felt too small. On quiet feet, you walked down the stairs and into the living room. You walked over to the boxes that Laura had Clint bring down. Laura wanted to decorate for Christmas. Christmas, another holiday you didn’t understand.
You opened the top box and found old Christmas pictures. It was dated last year, the year Yelena and Kate met. The archer and Black Widow told you their story. You flipped through a few of the photos, most only having the small Barton Family. Until you came across a patch with a new addition. Someone you only met through stories. Natasha. You smiled as you looked through the photos. They all seemed happy.
“I wondered when you’d be up.” The sudden voice caused you to drop the photos and turn around with a quiet yelp. The mother of 3 was standing there with a smile. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. Do you want some tea?” She asked, walking to the kitchen. It took a minute for your brain to register her sudden appearance but you followed her into the kitchen.
“How did you know I was going to be up?” You asked, sitting down. She placed two cups on the kitchen island while the water boiled.
“You aren’t the first person to be plagued by their past to be brought into this home.” She put tea bags into the mugs. “And something tells me you won’t be the last.” You smiled
“Your family does seem to attract strays.” She playfully rolled her eyes.
“Don’t remind me.” She poured the boiling water over the tea bags and set out sugar and honey. “So a nightmare.” She guessed. You nodded, mixing in some honey in your tea. “Do you want to talk about it?” Did you? Kate and Yelena always asked you about them.
“I don’t know how.” You whispered. You stared into the tea. “Kate and Yelena want me to talk about it and I try but this is all new to me.”
“What is?” She questioned. You were quiet for a moment. Most of the times you don't remember the nightmares that plagued you at night, only the feeling.
“A family.” you said. “People that care about me.” You sighed, shaking your head. “Sometimes I think I don’t deserve them. They’ve done so much for me and I feel like Ive done nothing for them.” They saved you. They gave you a home in the city. They showed you everything you missed.
“Have you ever thought they don’t want anything from you?” Laura asked softly. “They just want you and that’s enough for them.”
“What if that won’t be enough one day?” You voiced your fears. “What if one day they really see what I am?” You shook your head. “Then I’ll have nothing all over again. I want to do something for them.”
“And what are you?” You didn’t answer. You were a lot of things. A killer. A monster. Hell your own parents gave you away because they didn’t want you anymore. Laura sighed. “If you want to do something for them, maybe I can help you plan a Christmas outing.” You perked up at them.
“Yes, please.”
“Alright, here’s the plan…”
*
Phase 1: Decorations and Christmas Tree
Laura said the first part of the plan needed to be timed carefully. It had to happen before December 3rd because of Natasha’s birthday. So you decided on the 1st, the day after you got back from the Barton’s. You woke up early, made a fresh pot of coffee, and began getting the Christmas decorations they’ve collected. You didn’t trust yourself in the kitchen so you figured you could go out for breakfast, something you’ve never done. You went back upstairs to your shared bedroom. Yelena woke up from the door opening. You gave her a smile and slipped back into bed behind her. “You are in a good mood.” She mumbled. You buried your face in her neck.
“I thought we could go out and get breakfast then maybe pick out a Christmas tree and decorate the apartment before Kate leaves.” The archer was assigned a mission while you were in Iowa, leaving tomorrow. Yelena rolled over on her back to look up at you.
“That sounds wonderful, solntse.” She paused. “That’s a lot of social interaction, are you going to be okay?” You really hated how caring they were.
“I’m the one who suggested it. I’ll be fine. Now,” you kissed her cheek. “Go get ready. I made coffee.” Yelena smiled and got out of bed. You turned your attention to the archer. You cuddled up against her back. “Katie, wake up.” She groaned, burrowing her head deeper into the pillow. “Come on, we got a Christmas filled day.” She opened her eyes at the mention of Christmas.
“Christmas.” You rolled your eyes.
“Yes Christmas but you have to get up.” She groaned.
“Fine since a pretty girl is telling me to get out of bed.” You blushed, slapping her on her chest.
“You are such a dork.”
*
Kate decided on bagels for breakfast. It was quick and easy so you could make it your next destination, a Christmas tree farm. Yelena held your hand as you walked through the pine trees. Kate led the way since she was the only one that had any real experience of picking a tree. “Why are you doing this?” The Black Widow asked. You looked at her.
“I’m not doing anything.” You said. It was mostly Kate that planned your outings. “I just wanted to have a fun day with you guys.” Before Yelena could say anything, Kate called out, “Hey guys, what about this one?” You dragged Yelena to where Kate was.
“Good pick malen'kiy yastreb (little hawk).” Yelena said, kissing Kate on the side of the head. The archer looked at you.
“It’s perfect.”
*
You and Yelena were in charge of getting the tree into the apartment while Kate ran to the store for a surprise. You set up the tree and Yelena started the batter for sugar cookies. “What do you think Kate is getting at the store?” You asked as you pet Lucky. Yelena sighed.
“You never know with her.” You laughed and went into the kitchen. You helped cut the dough into shapes and put the cookies into the oven when the door opened. Kate was wearing a Santa hat and carrying shopping bags in her arms. You went to help her as the dogs ran to greet her.
“What did you get?” You asked. She snatched the bags out of your hands.
“It’s a surprise.” Her surprise was plaid matching PJ sets for you, Yelena, her, and the dogs. Once everyone was dressed, the tree and apartment was decorated and the cookies were made. Kate even bought you a stocking while at the store. Everything was done and you were exhausted. Home Alone 2 was on the TV as you laid on the couch, your head rested in Yelena’s lap. Her fingers running through your hair lured you to sleep.
“Today was good,” Kate said.
“Yeah,” Yelena whispered, looking down at you. “It was.”
*
Phase 2: Dealing with Grief
Dec 3rd, 2026
You were home alone with the dogs all day. Kate was on a mission and Yelena was well you weren’t sure where she was. She left early in the morning and turned off her phone. You worked on their Christmas gifts, played with the dogs, finished a few books that you started but still your mind was on the Black Widow. You even called Laura and she talked you off the edge. It was 10:30 when the apartment door opened and the Black Widow walked in. Fanny was the first to greet her. You stood up from the couch watching as Yelena petted the American Akita. She closed the door. “I was worried about you.” You finally said. She took off her winter jacket and hung it up.
“I can take care of myself.” She said, walking into the kitchen. She opened the fridge, pulled out a bottle of vodka, and began to drink straight from it. Patient. It was the advice Laura gave you when dealing with an emotional Black Widow.
“I know you can,” you said. “You're the strongest person I know.” She stopped at your words for a second but she continued to drink. “But you don’t have to be strong alone. I’m here.” The Russian stared at you as you walked over to her.
“I’m fine.” She said.
“The drinking straight from the bottle says otherwise.” You said, putting your hand on top of hers. “You have been there for me every step of the way; the good, the bad, the ugly.” Her bottom lip started to quiver. “Let me be there for you.” She didn’t say anything. “Please.”
“I miss her so much.” You nodded as her green eyes started to fill with tears.
“I know you do.” You said, pulling her into a hug. She cried against your shirt. You brought her down to the kitchen floor and rested your back on the counter. You held your girlfriend as she cried and cried. Soon her breathing evened out and you looked down to see her eyes closed, her fist gripping onto your shirt. You smiled and let her sleep.
*
Phase 3: Ice Skating and Christmas lights
“On a scale of 1 to 10, how busy will Bryant Park be?” You asked, looking up from the book you were reading.
“About 25.” Kate said. She was finishing a mission report for Sam. You thought about it. Your choices were Central Park or Bryant Park. You’ve been to Central Park already and you wanted to see the Christmas village set up in Bryant. But you did not want to deal with crowds. You sighed.
“Do you guys want to go?” You asked. Yelena stopped working on her Widow Bites.
“What?” She questioned. You put your bookmark in the spine and stood up, stretching your back.
“Yeah, let’s go!” You said. “Apparently, it’s the place to be in New York City for Christmas.” Kate closed her laptop.
“Are you sure you want to go?” You weren’t but you nodded.
“Yup!” You smiled, popping the ‘p’. “Let’s go.” You missed the way Yelena and Kate looked at each other as you ran upstairs to change.
*
It was busy. Maybe not a level 25 but a 16. You held on tight to Kate as you voiced your want to go ice skating. The weather was a little overcast so the ice wasn’t as busy. “Have you ever gone ice skating?” Kate asked as you sat on a bench to put on your skates. You nodded.
“Once for a HYDRA assignment.” You said. “I went on a date with a scientist they were interested in.” Yelena put a confronting hand on your shoulder. “They had me kill him after the 3rd date.” You rarely opened up about your missions with HYDRA.
“We’ll make better memories today.” And you did. You spent hours on the ice and at the park. You drank your weight in hot chocolate and eat just as many sweets. After you were done, you walked the streets of New York to look at the Christmas lights. You were buzzing with sugar running through your veins. But you were happy.
*
Christmas Eve
Yelena knew something was off with you. She was happy that you were leaving your comfort zone of the apartment but she was hoping it was for the right reasons. The plan was to spend Christmas in the city this year. The Barton's and Alexei and Melina were visiting. But tonight it was a quiet night. You were upstairs getting dressed while Yelena and Kate were putting the final touches on dinner. “Should we say something?” Kate asked. The Russian sighed.
“I think we need to.” Kate nodded. “I’ll take the lead.”
“Probably for the best.” The archer admitted. Yelena smiled as you walked into the kitchen. You were wearing a red dress with black leggings. “Whoa.” Kate mumbled.
“You look beautiful, solntse.” You blushed.
“Thank you.” You helped set the table. Dinner was amazing and desert was a simple cheesecake. After everything was cleaned up, presents were passed around. Christmas Day was going to be busy. You got Yelena a new vest and knife with the Russian words yubov', zdorov'ye, and schast'ye which translated to love, health, and happiness. For Kate, you got her a necklace with a bow and new arrow heads. They got you new books to add to your collection, two new sweatshirts because you were always stealing theirs, and a new locket to hold the sand.
“Solntse,” Yelena said, once you returned from changing out of the dress into one of the new sweatshirts. “Is there something you want to talk to us about?” The sudden question made you freeze.
“Yeah because you were different this month, not a bad different.” Kate added quickly. The Black Widow glared at the archer.
“We just want to make sure your okay.” Yelena clarified. She watched you play with the string. Finally, you sighed.
“It was hard.” You admitted. “But I did it all for you two.”
“Why?” Kate questioned. “We would have been happy just sitting in the apartment.” You throw your arms to the side.
“Exactly for that reason,” you said. “Sometimes I don’t think I deserve you guys.” You sat down on the couch with a huff. Yelena and Kate walked over to you, hoping you would continue on your own. “You guys literally saved my life and I look at everything you’ve done for me and I compare it to what I do for you; it doesn’t add up.”
“You don’t have to do anything for us.” Yelena said.
“You just being here and healing is enough.” You frowned.
“What if I when one day that’s not enough and I lose you?” Your voice cracked at your confession. “I can’t lose you. I-” you paused, letting out a shaky breath. “I love you both too much to let you go.” It was the first time you said those 3 words.
“We aren’t going anywhere, okay?” Kate said, grabbing your hand and Yelena’s. Yelena took yours to complete the ring. “It’s us three against the world.” You finally smiled.
“You are a light, solntse. It’s why I call you sun. Never doubt that for a second.” Yelena said, squeezing your hand. “And I love you too.”
“I love you.” Kate said, bring you into a hug. You ended up falling backwards onto the couch, laying mostly on Kate. But the archer didn’t seem to mind. “You are stuck with us. I sincerely apologize.” You laughed, hiding your face in her neck.
“Merry Christmas.” Yelena said.
“Merry Christmas.” You smiled. You remembered what Laura said to you after you planned all of this, ‘All of your life you’ve experienced pain and everything given to you had a double meaning. But Kate and Yelena love you. And that love has no double meaning. That love is special and you should cherish it forever.’

Warnings: N/A
Request: Anon- Hi 👋 I was wondering if I may be allowed to request being a nurse and dating Kate Bishop? Or a nurse in training and just taking care of all of Kate's wounds when she goes out with Clint or if she ever gets hurt during archery or fencing practice??
Word Count: 500
Author: Charlotte
“Babe!” Kate screamed, as she flung the front door to your apartment open, letting it clang against the wall behind it.
The loud collision of door and wall sent you jumping from the sofa, your highlighter drawing a haphazard line across the page as the textbook and notebook tumbled from your lap, narrowly missing your sock covered toes.
“Bloody hell Kate,” you said, attempting to catch your breath. “You scared me half to-“
Your words fell short when you entered the hallway and saw the state of your girlfriend. Kate was there, holding herself up with help from the doorway but her body was trying to double itself over. You didn’t know if all the blood that was on her was her own but you could see several visible cuts on her face and a growing blood stain on her shirt below where her left hand grasped.
“What the hell happened?” You screamed rushing to her side to help support her as she stumbled into the house. “We’re you jumped?”
“Something like that,” she groaned as you swung the door closed.
You shot her an impressed look. “You were playing hero again, weren’t you?”
Kate tried to give you an innocent smile, but the pain of hobbling along got to her too quickly.
You managed to haul her into the living room and with a loud cry of pain, she was laying on the sofa still gripping onto her side. Without a second thought you gripped the hem of her t-shirt and ripped the material up until you could see the waistband of her bra. Her abdomen was smeared with blood but there was one main wound on her lower left side that was about an inch deep and spitting out blood as she breathed.
“Fucking hell, Kate,” you said, your breath catching in your throat as you observed her injuries. “We need to get you an ambulance.”
You reached out to grab your mobile, but Kate swatted at your hand, stopping you from moving any further, forcing you to look back to her.
“You’re a nurse,” she stated.
“A nursing student,” you corrected. “I’m not even allowed to take someone’s blood pressure unsupervised, let alone stop you from bleeding out.”
“I trust you,” she said with a weak smile. “If I go to the hospital, not only will it bankrupt us, but they’ll also ask questions and I do not want to explain how I was stabbed with an arrow.”
You let out an exasperated groan, running your hands through your hair, not caring that you were smearing blood through them. You overlooked her wound again and tried to make a plan; it wasn’t going to be perfect but hopefully it would work.
“I fucking hate you sometimes,” you huffed standing up from examining her wound. “Don’t hurt yourself whilst I go find stuff.”
Kate called out a weak laughed thank you as you rummaged through your belongings to find anything that could assist you in treating her wound.

Post Hawkeye Series - (Female Reader X Kate Bishop)
Summary: You get saved by Clint Barton... or so you thought.
Word Count: 3.3K
TW: Guns, Men
Tumblr media
You don't know why you moved to New York.
Okay, that's a lie. Yes, you do. You got a nice fancy job in the old Stark tower that paid you slightly more than you were qualified for.
Plus, you were determined to make it on your own. To prove to everyone back home, including your mother, that you could make it. Be someone. Look adversity in the eye and say fuck you!
But fucking adversity left you drained. Tired every day after working way longer than should be legally allowed. No time to socialize or find people with your interest. Not that you had much besides keeping up with the Avengers and binge-watching your three favorite sitcoms. You thought about getting a cat. One named Liho you saw on an adoption website, but a day later, the cat was snatched up.
Regardless, you wanted more from your life.
So here you were, walking home alone late on a Friday night after your numerous train stops.
Now, the part of the borough you lived in wasn't bad; it just had too many things going on with insufficient outlets. Speaking of that, there was another item on your list: find a new place.
As the late winter air nipped the sidewalk, you started making your way to your place when you turned the corner, finding yourself at the sight of a half dozen men in tracksuits.
You crossed your arms over the front of your cream-colored sweater and put your head down. Maybe if eye contact was lost, they would miss you.
If only.
"Hey, where are you going?" You didn't dare to look up as your Doc Martens hit the ground a little faster and harder. "Hey! Lady! We're talking to you." A second voice called out from behind you before a third one stopped you. Physically. With your head down so well, you didn't see the man until you fell on your butt on the dirty sidewalk.
"Now, now. We're not here to hurt you. We want to get to know you." He spoke, sending chills down your body. You began fumbling with your bag while doing your best to keep an eye on the ugly man with the funny voice. "Hey!" A fourth guy reached down and snatched your brown leather bag. "You won't be needing this!" The man laughed as he held up your pink can of pepper spray.
You were probably about to do something dumb when it happened.
THUNK
You watched as an arrow came and shot the can of pepper spray the guy was holding up. It sent the contents of the can directly into his eyes. Blinding him and leaving him a burning mess as the guys around you ducked in shock. You kept her head low, too. Not wanting to get sprayed or accidentally hit with an arrow.
But wait. Why would you get hit? That's when you smiled. An Avenger!
You crawled away from the crying man and lifted your head to look in the direction the arrow was fired but saw nothing on the rooftops.
The man behind you still screamed in pain as another one decided he was done and started to take off. But that's when you saw another arrow being fired from the laundry mat rooftop. You couldn't make out the shape of the person, but a bow and arrow gave away the identity. Clint Barton.
You watched as the arrow flew in front of the guy before it broke apart and formed a giant net. Wrapping the guy up and taking him down into a store window, knocking him out.
2 down. 4 to go. You thought.
But the tracksuit guys must've thought the same thing as one of them ran up to you and grabbed you. Pinning your right arm behind you. You tried your best to fight him off, but your slaps and swings didn't do anything, especially when he started to bend your arm.
You silently cursed yourself. You really should've taken those self-defense classes Collen Wing told you about.
"Show yourself, and we won't hurt her!" The man spoke in a heavy, accented voice. You winced as he tightened the tight grip he had on you. "Ow!" The man told you to shut up as the three other guys started forming a circle around you.
Safety in numbers and whatnot.
"Come out!" One of them yelled, making you smile. You knew an Avenger wouldn't give themselves away. Right now, they have the upper hand. The element of surprise they lose that and they-
"Alright! Here I am!"
Huh? You widened your eyes as a female voice loudly spoke from that same rooftop. Shit. You thought. This wasn't Clint Barton. This wasn't an Avenger. It was some girl playing vigilante...
But then the voice stepped into the glow of the moon.
You took back what you said.
This wasn't some dumb girl playing vigilante while risking both of your lives. This was some beautiful dumb girl playing vigilante, risking your lives.
Her pretty black hair and sharp jawline had you hooked.
Just wait till later when you got close enough to look into her eyes and take in her figure.
"Don't hurt her!" The voice called out as they took more steps on the rooftop before she was at the edge. What was she doing?
"Shoot that one!" The guy with his hold on you yelled to the other three guys. But as the three readied their guns, it was already too late because when you looked back to the rooftop, she was gone. "Fuck!" The guy to your left yelled. "Where did she go?!"
They were now growing more panicked, and you were loving it from being scared to amused in a couple of minutes. Don't get it twisted. You were still greatly concerned for your safety and well-being, but watching the guys who appeared to be tough now start freaking out over a girl with a string and two sticks was a little funny.
"Wait, I think I see-" Before the guy to your right could finish, an arrow was fired from an unknown direction, hitting him in the right arm. Like the guy before him, he was out like a light. When you squinted your eyes at the arrow, you could see it had a label on it. A label!
'Zzzzz,' you internally laughed and slowly couldn't wait to see who was saving your life.
3 down. 3 to go.
"Shit!" The guy behind you yelled. "Bro, where did that come from?! Where did it come from!"
"Over here!" She gleefully cheered!
The guy with his hold on you swung you around to the right as he tried to find her. "Fire!" He commanded the last two guys. "But-" "Do it!" You attempted to shout no, but it was too late. The two guys took some steps forward and started firing their guns. Silenced, of course. But as their bullets were fired in the direction they thought the girl was, from the corner of your eye, you saw her run across the street to your side of the road.
You tried your best to get a better look at her but failed. The last thing you saw was purple and a ponytail bouncing back and forth.
"Stop!" The one behind you, who you were now calling Dudley (Even though this was certainly not his name.), yelled. "Go check it out, bro." "You go." "I'm holding the hostage, bro!" You rolled your eyes and sighed. One of the three gave you a look but scoffed. "Fine! I'll check it out."
He began to walk forward and cross the street. "Anything?" Dudley asked. The one near the shot-out car was about to respond when he bent down. "Hey! Bro, it looks like she left an arrow-" As he grabbed it, it shocked him, sending him to the ground convulsing.
4 down. 2 to go.
"Fuck this!" The other grunt said as he took off running. Unknowingly to right where she was. So, as he was too busy yelling back at Dudley, the girl dressed in a purple superhero suit with her bow and arrow stepped out from behind a parked car and tripped him with it. He crashed into the sidewalk, and as if she had done it a thousand times before, she twirled her body around and pulled out an arrow, sending it right towards you.
Wait towards you?
Towards you?!
You tried your best to move out of the way! But the last tracksuit guy kept his hold on you; besides, it was too late. The arrow made contact!
Your eyes closed when it happened, but a second later, they were open. You weren't shot! Right? "Oh shit!" The girl from down the block yelled before she took off running towards you. "Don't move! Don't move!"
You were held hostage and witnessed a single woman take out six guys like an Avenger. You most certainly were not leaving.
When she finally made it in front of you. Your breath hitched. She was even more gorgeous up close. Now you could make put the details of her face. Her jaw still sharp, but her lips looked soft like pillows. She had a scratch on her chin and a bandaid on her left eyebrow. Her eyes were a mix of grey and blue. They briefly darted at you before she passed right by you. Wait...
You turned your body as she stopped two feet behind you. "Oh no, no, no!" She put a hand to her head and looked down to the ground. You looked down as well and couldn't believe your eyes.
"I didn't mean to pick that arrow, I promise! I don't even know why I carry it! I mean, what's the point of labeling these arrows if I'm not looking at which one I pick!" She rambled as you couldn't fathom what you were looking at. Sure, you heard the stories of Scott Lang. You went to see Rogers: The Musical. But in front of you on the sidewalk, you were looking at a couple-inch-tall Dudley, and you couldn't believe it.
You pushed your finger into him, knocking Dudley over.
"Hey, don't do that." The girl scolded you, making you look up at her. "He just held me hostage. Are you serious?" She dropped her mouth and closed it again. "I mean, you're not wrong, but now he's.. well.. that.." She looked back down to the ground. "What should we do?" She asked aloud. "We?!" You lifted your eyebrows to her, making her snap her head back to you. "Yeah. I was saving your life!"
"Well, I didn't ask you to use the shrinking arrow!"
"I didn't mean to!" She whined and looked back down at Dudley. "Wait, where is he?!" You looked back down and squatted, but you didn't see him either. "Quick check your shoes." She frantically looked at you. "I didn't step on him!"
"Check them!" She responded, checking hers. You rolled your eyes and checked.
"He's not here." You replied as you looked down the street. "Ummm.." The ponytail-wearing girl looked where you looked. Running under street lights was a rat that looked like it might be a little too big for its size. "You don't think-"
"No!" She quickly replied and turned her head. "I saved you. End of story." She waited for you to agree. "Okay. You saved me." You said as Kate pulled out her phone. "I'm reporting this. The police should be here soon." You didn't really hear here as your eyes traveled back to the rat. Further away. It's not smiling.. is it?
"Are you hurt?" You looked back at her. "Huh?" She smiled and took a step closer. "I asked if you were hurt. It looks like they didn't rough you up, but it's always nice to check." She smiled at you again, this time showing off her pearly whites. Fuck she's cute. Like really cute. Oh wait, it's now your turn to talk... "Fine, think, I am." You closed your eyes and let out a frustrated sigh, missing the lifesaver scrunching her nose as she laughed. "Sorry. I meant to say I think I am fine." You opened your eyes just in time to see her nod as her eyes looked you over.
Was she checking you out?
"Good." She replied with a nod, and she was about to say something else when: "You have pretty eyes." Excuse me?! Why did you say that?! What the fuck is wrong with you?!?
The archer seemed to be surprised by your statement and blushed. Hard! "Well, thank you. I must say, usually, people thank me or offer to buy me pizza, but this is nice, too." She laughed, breaking the nervous air you made happen. "I'm so sorry!" You groaned "Yes. Thank you for saving me, and I'm sorry for saying what I said. Not that it's not true. You do have pretty eyes. And your smile is great! Plus, I'm in love with your hair- But I didn't mean to say it aloud. It was just for me. But that doesn't mean-"
"Kate Bishop." She stopped you with two words while smiling. Holding out her hand. "What?" You questioned.
"Hi. I'm Kate Bishop. 23. I just saved your life, and this is our first time talking." She made a gesture to her extended hand. You sighed, relieved, and shook her slightly rough but still soft hand. "Thank you for saving my life, Kate Bishop. I'm Y/N Y/L/N. 25." Kate smiled as she felt your hand in hers. Soft. She thought.
"It was an honor to save such a beautiful lady with even prettier eyes," Kate said, making you blush, and a butterfly get pregnant in your stomach. "Do you flirt with all the people you save?" You questioned, still shaking her hand. Kate responded with a shake of the head. "First time."
"Then I am honored." You couldn't stop the smile that crawled onto your face as she dropped your hand. And neither could Kate watching you. "So, are you sure you're all good? No scratches or anything?" Kate asked, looking only into your eyes. "I'm all good. Now." You said.
"Do you live around here?" She asked. "Bold of you." Kate rolled her eyes. "I'm asking because I want to ensure you get home safely."
"Sureee." You said but lifted your hand and pointed to your building. "Right there." Kate looked at it and didn't like it, but not everyone could live in their mom's penthouse apartment after their own apartment was set on fire. "I'll walk you." Kate put a hand on your backside and started moving the two of you along. Passing the knocked-out guy on the sidewalk.
"Police should be here soon." She said when she saw you look at the guy.
"Okay." You replied as her hand rested now fully against you. This was nice, and your body couldn't help but remind you. Having someone care for you and touch you...
"Kate?" You asked as you were now getting closer to your place. "Do you do this often? The Vigilante thing?" Kate nodded immediately. "Practically all the time." She beamed. "I'm still new, but I was trained by Clint! You know Hawkeye!?" She enthusiastically proclaimed.
"Clint Barton trained you?!" You couldn't believe it. "Yep! Check it out!" She dropped your hand and pulled out her phone. On her Lock Screen was a picture of her and Clint with a golden retriever. "Oh my God! Holy shit! That's amazing!" A part of you wanted to say this was fake and that there's no way, but she did take out six guys and make it seem like fun, so you'd believe her regardless. Plus, she flirted with you. And checked you out!
"So, do you have a cool nickname? Wait, are you an Avenger?!" You stopped in front of your building and turned to Kate with all seriousness. "Are you?!" Kate did one of those yes/no faces. "Kind of. It's a grey area considering the Avengers aren't like a proper thing anymore, but yeah, I guess I am." She nodded and smiled. You smiled back. "That's so cool." You said.
Kate looked from your eyes to your lips and back to your eyes. You both noticed. "You know..." She cleared her throat. "I could send you some pics of Clint and me if you want?" She asked, knowing what the answer would be.
"Oh yeah?" You caught on. "Yeah.. and maybe then I'd have your number." Kate bit her bottom lip before you agreed. "Having the number of the person who saved my life would be important. You know, in case anything like this were to happen again." You spoke as Kate put her number into your phone before sending herself a text. "Well, I hope nothing like this happens again," Kate said, handing you your phone before she continued. "I mean, I would save you, of course, but I wouldn't want you to get hurt."
That warmed your heart in more ways than one.
So, with pink cheeks, you turned to look at your building. You were about to walk up the steps when you stopped yourself. "You know.." Kate looked at you with peaked interest. "The police haven't come by yet, and we both know how dangerous this area can be.." Kate lightly nodded. "Plus, I'm enjoying getting to know the archer who saved me. So maybe we should keep walking.. together."
Kate smiled at you and took your hand in hers. "I know a safer place we can walk to."
"Lead the way."
Kate smiled and started pulling you further away from your place just as cop cars went speeding by the two of you.
"Thank you." You spoke as the flashing blue and red lights became a dot. "For saving me and all that." You flustered. "It's no problem. I would've done it anyways, but it helps that you're pretty and..." Kate trails off in thought before her eyes widen. "Maybe tonight you'll get lucky."
That made you laugh in a mixture of shock and nervousness.
"What!?" You exclaimed as your cheeks went from pink to red. "What?" Kate looked at you as if she said nothing wrong. "What did you say?" You asked.
"I said maybe tonight you'll get to meet Lucky."
She most certainly did not.
Right?
"Lucky?!" You asked. Kate released your hand and pulled out her phone again, showing you the Lock Screen. She pointed with her thumb at the golden retriever. "Lucky." You nodded and retook her hand once the phone was put away.
"So we're going to your place?"
That made Kate blush and realize she would have to say something sooner rather than later.
"Well... yeah. It's way safer, and I figured we wouldn't want to stop talking anytime soon, so why not.." Kate sheepishly looked at you, but all she saw were joy-filled eyes. "I'd like that if I can make one request."
"Okay?" That made Kate nervous. "I want a kiss. Like in the movies. Cliche."
Kate squeezed your hand and stopped. Now that made you nervous. "I mean, unless I'm totally reading the signs wrong." You sputtered. "In which case. I'm joking. This was an attempt to wanting more from life, and it was a joke at the same time somehow, so please igno-"
Kate kissed you to shut you up and because the signs were right.
From the moment Kate ran up to you after shrinking that guy, she had never seen a girl more beautiful. And let's remember she fought the Black Widow's sister. Her not-so-subtle flirting, along with your flustering, had made Kate's stomach do flips.
So kissing you was the easiest decision she made all night. Well, that and saving your life.
When Kate's pink lips left yours, you knew you were never leaving New York.

Dog Walker - Kate Bishop
Warnings: Cuteness overload, very short, did it while very sleepy and didn't develop it to its fullest, english isn't my first language.
Summary: You are a dog walker with little interest in anyone with fewer than four feet. Your new client, the beautiful owner of a goofy, Golden Retriever, changes all of that when you begin to bond over your loveable new charge. (The prompt is from servicescape.com, I adapted it.)
Word count: 795.
Tumblr media
There were several jobs Y/n could be doing, admittedly, but truthfully, she would be miserable and last less than a year in any job she had to deal with a human.
Spend most of her day walking cute puppies? It was delightful. Not only was the exercise of the day, she got paid for walking dogs and playing with them. Sometimes she had to pick up some poop, an obvious downside that always scrunched up her nose and let out the most disgusted sounds; various times the dogs had pissed on her legs, intentionally or not. However, by the end of the day, her bank account was substantial (with unexpected but very welcome tips); Y/n was happier and had exercised enough to be considered healthy. A win-win situation, she thought.
It's not like Y/n hated humans so severely she didn't talk to them, friends and family do exist. The difference is that she would rather be with the angels with no wings that don't make judgemental questions about why a twenty-four-year-old wants to work walking dogs.
She had gotten a job walking Lucky, a cute golden retriever that lacked one of his eyes, for an hour. The owner, Kate Bishop, said she would wait downstairs so Y/n didn't have to go up a flight of stairs just for the cuddly little fellow. And as the dog walker neared the building, her breath got stuck in her throat for a few seconds.
Surprise, surprise Kate Bishop is a cute raven-haired woman in her early twenties. Black hair in a tight ponytail, a grey plaid overcoat topped a purple sweater alongside black boots and jeans. Y/n hated how good she looked in purple, it was her favorite color and she would remember Kate for a few weeks after this.
"Hi, I'm here for this cute little guy." Y/n used every ounce of strength in her to move forward and talk to the pretty girl, pointing to the Golden that was now curiously looking at her.
Kate's eyebrows shot up at the sound of a feminine voice next to her and she turned her head to meet the other person, taking a while to process Y/n's gorgeous facial structure before clearing her throat and smiling. "You must be Y/n!"
"Yup, that's me." Y/n nodded, smiling right back and directing her eyes onto the other woman's, making her realize the deep blue color. "You must be Kate Bishop."
"The one and probably not the only one." She then raised Lucky's leash to Y/n. "I'm so relieved someone with that many recommendations got to walk with him; I feel sorry for living in an apartment and leaving him cooped up all day."
"I'm sure you do the best you can, and for what's worth, he seems close to you," Y/n said as she observed Lucky kept sitting right next to his owner. "He didn't jump on me yet."
It wasn't rare for some dogs to stay put, yet it was Y/n's first time seeing a Golden Retriever not immediately jumping on her.
"Just wait." Kate's voice sounded amused, almost like a promise that we would, anytime. "Sorry to cut our conversation short, I can't be late. But I'll see you in an hour?"
"Yes, of course. See you later." Y/n nodded before looking at Lucky. "Let's go, handsome."
Lucky was a cute dog and not very difficult to take care of. He didn't go pissing or pooping everywhere, obeyed orders, and even played a few games with Y/n in the park. By the time they returned, Kate was already outside with her eyes shining as she looked at the dog.
"Pizza dog! How was your walk with the pretty lady?"
Needless to say, Y/n's cheeks burned with the praise, even if it came out without her actually meaning that.
"We played so much in the park. Oh, by the way, he already did his needs there, so you'll be good for a while." The dog walker spoke, looking at Kate. "And this sneaky guy totally kissed me on the lips."
Kate gasped before looking at him. "Lucky, you traitor!"
"Completely my fault, I'm irresistible." It was supposed to be a joke, but with the way Kate looked up from him and smirked, there was no chance the burning on Y/n's face wasn't appearing.
"I can see the appeal." She mumbled, voice a little low and raspy before she turned into a complete mess while saying the following words. "Hm, I've been meaning to ask, can I... get your number?"
Y/n felt absolutely giddy.
"Yes, yes you can."
So it was not like Y/n hated humans, but four-legged little guys were better, after all, if it wasn't for Lucky, the Pizza Dog, she would have never met her favorite human.

You had been at it for nearly an hour, watching Kate's ass as she lifted and went back down on your strap, tight pussy swallowing it up so well. Each time she went up, a thicker sheen of her wetness slicked over it. Kate began going faster, searching for relief, but you grabbed her ass quickly to stop her.
"Did I say you could speed up?" You asked snappily, digging your fingertips into the soft doughy cheeks. Kate whimpered and shook her head. "Fuck me slowly like a good little bunny, or I'll make you stop completely."
Kate continued upward, doing exactly as you said. Her dark hair flowed over her soft back, almost begging for you to tug it, flip her over, fuck her mercilessly, but no, this view was too damn gorgeous. Through her whines, she weaved the word "daddy" over and over.
"Please let me cum. I'm a good bunny." She pleaded. The painfully slow pace was to keep her from release.
"I guess you've earned it, haven't you?" You asked rhetorically. "Cum for me, then, and don't forget to tell me how thankful you are."
In response to your permission, Kate started picking up her pace, quickly rutting the fake cock into her cunt, causing her ass cheeks to clap together. The pitiful whines turned to groans of pleasure as she inched closer to relief.
"T-thank y-y-ou," She cried just before she started to cum. Her legs shook, and her body quaked over you, finally reaching purchase after denial for so long. She hunched forward and held your knees to steady herself as she came down from her high.
"Good girl." You praised, watching as the cock slipped out of her glistening hole. "Now let me taste you."

A good day of profits, yes indeed. Your life continued as always, the small changes made before (thanks to the inspiration and advice of a warlord) have improved your existence. You had gained more muscle mass and resistance, now people called you "The light of the east blue" and not "The shadow" and that fascinated you. You never thought that so much satisfaction would come from helping the poor survive (and making the government angry, of course)
It was so fun to see the humiliated faces of the men who chased you after being defeated by a woman. Your wanted posters were still scattered all over the island, the reward on your head was very large but you didn't give it any importance, they would never catch you alive, you had learned a lot and evolved. Besides, it was flattering to see your face everywhere, they had even brought out the good side of your face.
You walked happily around the island strutting and swinging your hips like a cat. You already expected all eyes on you and you appreciated the audience. The people around you looked at you satisfied, happy, proud. You were his salvation. You stopped in front of a rewards sign. Your face was shown in all its glory, you put your hands on your hips and smiled widely.
"Even my nose is correct"
You walked safely home, waving your hair while you felt all the eyes behind your back. When you entered your humble abode, you took off your heavy sword and took off your hat. As you hung it on the coat rack, you quietly resisted when you saw Mihawk's wide-brimmed hat. You still hadn't returned it to him. You were planning to keep it for a while longer, so he would have to. look for you instead of you looking for him. The game of cat and mouse was fun for you and you had taken a liking to it.
You sighed tiredly and were about to lie down comfortably on the couch when a knock came on your door. Grumbling you jumped up and went to open the door. Oh surprise! Some uniformed men with unfriendly faces had stopped in front of the entrance. They were taller than you and looked angry. Those of the government.
"Excuse me miss, are you y/n y/l?"-One of them cleared his throat
You tried to hide your surprise by crossing one leg in front of the other and resting one arm on the door frame, how quickly they had discovered your name. Of course you didn't tell them the truth.
"Sorry, I don't know who you're talking about, you must have the wrong person"
You were about to close the door when one of them stopped it by placing his palm on the wood.
"I don't think so. Maybe we should try one more time, shall we? Are you the one they call The Light of East Blue formerly nicknamed The Shadow?"
Shit. They knew, they weren't genuinely asking, they had found you, they knew exactly who you were and they just wanted you to confirm it. You could see a flash of evil amusement pass through their eyes and it infuriated you, they were treating you like a poor devil. But you weren't stupid
"Gentlemen, with all due respect, I think it's not the right time to chat now, why don't you come later?"
Again you made an attempt to close the door but they kicked it with so much force that you almost lost your balance and fell. Staggering, you backed away in a state of alert. Now were they coming to break into your own house? That never. The two men approached slowly with sickly smiles, believing themselves to be the hunters and you the prey, poor idiots, they must have understood for a long time that it was the other way around. Your eyes scanned your entire room and when they found your sword you looked back at them and cautiously approached your weapon. With a quick and accurate movement you grabbed your trusty sword and threatened them, brandishing it in front of them, you moved your sword from side to side to make them move away. They angrily retreated and you took the opportunity to push them and run between the two of them.
You ran at full speed trying to lose sight of them. At a safe distance you turned your head and saw that other men had joined the chase. The people around were booing the government and cheering you. This undoubtedly gave you the strength to continue running to the beach. Your feet flew in the sand although the men behind you still did not give up. Suddenly you saw something from afar that made your blood run cold, or rather someone's. The famous warlord stood with his Yoru sword, appearing to be talking to someone through an intercom in his ear. With satisfaction you noticed that his dark, slightly curly hair was waving in the wind, you celebrated that the hat you stole from him was the only one he had because his new appearance didn't look bad on him at all.
Dracule had turned as cannons continued to fire and sent the sand flying behind him. As he did so, he saw you running and raised an eyebrow curiously when he noticed that some men were chasing you.
"Well, well. What trouble have you gotten yourself into now?"-he thought quietly
Mihawk tightened his grip on his sword and raised it to his shoulder. You hadn't stopped running but you were getting closer to him. The closer you got, the stronger the explosions became and you had to crouch down slightly, covering your head so they wouldn't shoot you. You arrived agitatedly next to him and looked at him from below, when he had his hat on you were intimidated by looking at him that way since it made him look taller than he is, but now you simply licked your lower lip and gave him a mocking, shit-eating smile. He stooped slightly to see you better and tilted his head.
"What happened now?"-he said tired
You feigned innocence "What? I was just in my abode calmly resting when these ruffians appeared in front of my entrance"-You pointed with a pout at the men who were approaching.
The warlord looked up at them and growled softly
"I see… good luck with that"
He turned to leave with more important matters to do when you, offended and indignant, grabbed his arm and roughly forced him to look at you again. You were no longer afraid of him getting angry, you knew that physical contact was not his thing. Dracule focused his gaze on you again and his eyes twinkled at you. You didn't remove your hand from his arm yet. It had been a long time since your last meeting, you still remember the tickle of his jaw against your skin, his whispering voice in your ear. For weeks you tried to suppress that annoying tickling that appeared in your belly when you thought about him, at that moment or when you saw him.
"You're not going anywhere, Warlord, or have you already forgotten that you rebelled against them too? I don't think they'll be very happy to let you go"
Mihawk growled lowly, looking at the government men and then looking at you. You were right. They would never leave him alone again, and all to help you. But could he complain? No, deep down Dracule was entertained, finally something that took him out of his boring life.
"Fine, I'll help you one more time, little bird. But you owe me one" -he said, getting into an attack position by your side
You smiled satisfied, having gotten what you wanted, you always have. Now the men were getting closer and closer and when he was only two meters away from you, you and Dracule grabbed your weapons tightly and began to fight. You had to admit that Mihawk was an excellent swordsman and he didn't wear the name warlord in vain. Back to back he quickly finished off the men who were coming at him, his height protected you and he made sure that no one touched you, despite knowing how to defend yourself alone. When one of them came dangerously close to you, Mihawk with a wide movement of his arm passed his great sword over you while you crouched down. Yoru's blade sliced through the man's torso. Exhausted they looked around, the panorama was devastating. Fallen bodies everywhere, it seemed like the end of an arduous civil war.
You put your hands on your hips and closed your eyes, smiling contentedly. Dracule watched you carefully, memorizing your features as if he wanted to remember them later. It's been a long time since he saw you. Suddenly his deep voice broke the silence.
"I noticed you haven't brought my hat. Do you plan on keeping it longer?"-he said sarcastically
You looked at him mockingly. "Maybe, is there a problem with that? So I can continue admiring your beautiful curls in the wind"-you said with a shrug
You started to walk away from the beach towards the grass and Dracule rolled his eyes. Following you closely as if it were your shadow. He wasn't going to leave you so quickly now that he found you again.
"Are you some kind of vulture or why are you following me so closely?"
When you passed by a palm tree Mihawk took a step forward and stood next to you, unsheathing his sword and placing it in front of you with his arm extended to the right, stopping you. You looked at him irritated.
"I really would like my hat back, my dear"
"I'm sorry, that's not going to be possible, I realized that I like the perfume it has" - you said, smiling mischievously, Mihawk's smell was like that of grapes with a mixture of sandalwood.
You turned in front of the palm tree to go in the opposite direction when Mihawk crashed his yoru again against the trunk, preventing you from passing. You slammed the heel of your boot on the ground in anger and drew your sword.
"Alright if you want it that way"
Dracule, unlike you, seemed entertained by this new game, he realized that provoking you in that way had something…delicious. Now you two were facing each other with the palm tree in between the two of you. You raised your sword trying to cut him in the face when he was faster and gave you a light spank with the non-sharp part of his sword. The surprise was more than the pain and you opened your mouth and eyes as wide as you could while you brought your hands to your sore butt. You almost noticed Dracule's facial muscles trembling slightly trying to suppress a smile perhaps. Outraged, you ran towards another palm tree but the warlord did the same thing again, only this time the blow was a little stronger. You squealed, closing your eyes as you caressed your buttocks, surely now you would have a nice red mark.
"You are a rude pervert!"
"And you are stubborn"-he said calmly
You lunged at him and finally your sword collided with his. You fought with all your fury and great efforts while he simply moved his wrist and dodged the edge of your sword, it was like child's play for him. His arrogant attitude made your blood boil even more. At one point you brought your wrist forward and he grabbed it, put his head under it and spun you around until you crashed into his chest. You tried to get away but the arm Mihawk was holding you was against your back, only your other free hand was left which was now resting on Dracule's naked torso. He was breathing noisily through his nose from the effort. Your gaze lingered on his pecs for a second, trying to process what was happening. Again those annoying tickles like fluttering butterflies appeared in your belly. You looked up and noticed that Mihawk was looking at you. In fact, he hadn't stopped looking at you, so he also noticed how you were looking at his bare chest.
"You've come this far darling, now I'll ask you one more time. Give me the hat back now, please"
His deep voice resonated in his ribcage, it was funny how despite him now being under control his manners were not demanding and he asked for things please like a gentleman. His honey eyes piercing yours, his deep and manly voice, his soft and elegant gestures, his way of asking for things being calm and not rude. Damn. You could have melted right there if it weren't for him holding you tightly against his warm skin. You hated him and that stupid feeling that you tried to ignore but now you knew it was love. You tried to maintain your composure
"Fine was just playing, you bitter old man"
He loosened his grip and you finally separated from him like a hot breaststroke. You headed towards your house with him behind you. The entire way you avoided eye contact. When you arrived he stood at the entrance watching everything, afraid to interrupt your home. To tell the truth, its dark appearance made a strange contrast to your house with light walls and a warm appearance. You grabbed his hat from the rack and walked towards him. You caressed the fabric and the feather lovingly one last time and handed it to him. Dracule placed it on his head solemnly, stroking the wide black brim. When he looked up his eyes this time saw you softer.
"Anyone would think you fell in love with my hat"-he said raising an eyebrow
and not only with the hat
You rolled your eyes, smiling in amusement, and gently pushed him away.
"Ok you have what you wanted now go away and don't bother"
Dracule turned to leave and as he did so his black cape fluttered like a flag in the wind, so elegant. You slammed the door and sighing, you slid your back along the wood until you fell into a sitting position. What had all that been about? Did he realize the dangerous game he was playing? You put your hands to your hair, combing it back and trying to process what you experienced a few seconds ago. You shook your head, trying in vain to suppress all those feelings you had for the god of war that were increasing more and more like a giant snowflake rolling downhill, an avalanche of emotions and thoughts that you couldn't control. His naked torso was still stuck in your eyes as if you were seeing it right now. What would the rest of his body look like without clothes?
"Ok enough, I better visit my mother to distract myself"
You stood up and went to your room to get a large backpack where you would put everything you needed. Since you had become a thief and stole for the poor, your mother now lived much better. Many would say that it is selfish because you are helping someone in your family and not a stranger, but only God knows the bad times that both of them went through years ago. Although now she could buy her own things, you always brought her something as a gift, whether it was food or something else. You decided to wrap a couple of cookies and put them in your backpack. You started walking towards his house, people as you passed greeted you as if you were a rock star, you simply smiled and nodded back at them. Your mother's house was quite far away but you were used to walking so much so when you arrived you began to contemplate its facade. Painted white with two stories, the house was definitely beautiful. Your mother had been in charge of planting many flowers to give color.
"Mom! I'm here!!"-You screamed putting your hands around your mouth.
Your mother opened the door and ran towards you to hug you. The two merged into a warm embrace as if they were one.
"Honey, it's good to see you! I was missing your visits."-she said with a slight loving reproach.
"I know, I know. But my job is not easy…"
"Don't worry, come in and let's talk better inside"
Inside the big house was filled with plants too, hanging pots, tiny cacti, pothos and ferns, etc. And you loved it like that, it gave more life and purity to the home. You both sat on a soft sofa, you handed her the cookies and she thanked you tenderly. They spent the hours chatting like the old days when the two of you were alone at home and she taught you how to cook, knit, or paint. It's like all these years had never passed, everything was better with her and she made you feel safe and happy.
You looked at the wall clock "Oh, I'm sorry but I have to go now."
Your mother tilted her head a little sadly but then she got up and grabbing you by the cheeks gave you a loud kiss on the head.
"It's a shame sweetheart but I understand. Just come visit me more often when you can, okay? Don't forget it"
You nodded vigorously and she walked you out. Before you left she grabbed your wrist and held you for a moment longer.
"Please honey, take good care of yourself and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger, I want you to be safe. And remember that no matter what you do, I love you and I'm proud of you."
You felt your eyes begin to water, everything you did was for your mother and for her to tell you that was the best gift of life. You hated that they saw you cry so you looked away and wiped your tears with the back of your hand.
"Thanks mom, I love you too"
You walked away from the house and walking at a brisk pace you went to your house. When you arrived you felt fuller and happier, your mother always had that effect on you. You took off your boots and changed your clothes into something more comfortable. You chose a wide beige shirt and short brown pants. You realized that you were a little tired so you stretched like a cat and let yourself fall exhausted into the big chair to take a nap. And without realizing it you dreamed of Mihawk
Two hours later you woke up suddenly and you didn't know why. As in your dreams, you heard some dull, muffled and distant knocks. The knocks were insistent and were starting to tire you out, someone was knocking on the door. Annoyed because someone interrupted your nap, you got up and opened the door abruptly.
"WHAT?!"
A smiling face with brown eyes appeared before you, with fiery red locks falling on his forehead. He was wearing a navy blue shirt and you noticed that he was missing an arm. He had a slight smell of alcohol and his gaze ran over you from top to bottom until he stopped for a few seconds on your shirt that had opened and revealed your bra a little. You rolled your eyes and snorted which caught his attention and he quickly looked back into your eyes.
"You have 6 seconds to tell me who you are and what you are doing in my house"-you said bluntly
He cleared his throat "Hello doll, sorry for bothering you, my name is Shanks." He bowed slightly, winking.
Brilliant. another sycophant, you thought.
"I came to ask you something… Are you the new Robin Hood walking around these parts?"
You laughed sarcastically, Robin Hood… yeah, sure.
"I don't know what they told you or how you found me, but just so you know, they call me "The Light of East Blue," not Robin Hood"
"Sure babe, whatever you say"
Shanks knew very well how he had found you, to tell the truth it was not difficult to keep track of you. You were strutting around like a peacock. Also, by chance he had seen you talking to Mihawk near your house once and he was very curious about you, especially to know what your relationship with Dracule is. Your patience was running out and you started drumming your fingers on the door frame.
"Ok, ok I'll be brief. I like your style, I think you do noble deeds and you could be a great collaboration for my crew."
Shanks had to be joking. You worked alone and there was no chance you would join his crew or any other. Besides, you had the feeling that he hadn't come just for that reason, because of the way he smiled at you and how he seemed to eat you with his eyes. No, you were definitely better off alone.
"Ha! Shanks, right? Look, I work alone, okay? I don't need a crew or a pirate ship." You slowly got closer to him to intimidate him. "And believe me, I already know how men get in the presence of a girl and I don't need of that daily dose of idiocy in my life"
Your face was now closer to his. Shanks, far from being offended or angry, widened his smile, looking at you playfully.
"More girls should have your courage and toughness, I like it. Are you sure you don't want to come with us? We wouldn't need more feminine intuition."
You sighed rolling your eyes “NO!”
You walked into your house and slammed the door in his face. The redhead stood there for a few more seconds and then started laughing fun, turning around.
"We'll see each other again, then. I'm sure," he said quietly.
DAYS AFTER
You were walking calmly on the island, cooling off with the fresh breeze and smiling enthusiastically as usual. You walked through the stores looking at the clothes and jewelry in the windows, rubies, emeralds, silks and linen. You were about to enter a store when a thin girl with purple hair and a backpack stopped you a little abruptly. You turned around startled and frowning. The girl looked at you and seemed worried.
"Sorry to interrupt you but you're Y/N right?"
You looked at her somewhat surprised, almost no one knew your real name. You nodded confused.
The girl let out a sigh of relief "Oh thank God I found you, your mother asked me to call you urgently"
Your intrigue grew even more, how was it possible that she knew your mother? And what had happened to her? The girl noticed your confusion and hurried to say
"I'm Suni, her maid, she hired me a month ago. But now she's seriously ill and I don't know what she has, you have to help her soon!"
A whirlwind of emotions crossed your entire being and confusion gave way to panic. How had your mother gotten sick if a few days ago she was fine when you went to visit her? Why did he never mention Suni, had he forgotten? You couldn't waste time with questions so you ran with her to your mom's house. Your heart was beating fast and you feared the worst. When they both arrived you saw the house a few meters away and felt a little relief. When suddenly a headache invaded you and your vision blurred until it became black and you fell flat to the ground. Suni had hit you from behind with a bottle that he had taken out of his backpack. He smiled satisfied as he looked at you unconscious on the floor.
"You already have her?"-a voice behind her asked
A member of the government approached at a sure and fast pace, anxious.
"Yes, it was easier than it seems. It turns out that our little thief has a sensitive heart. Now pay me what you owe me"
The man paid without even looking at her, he only had eyes for you. They had finally caught you and they wouldn't let you escape. The man called his comrades and between six men they lifted you into the air and put you on a boat without being seen. Luckily, almost no one lived in that part of the island.
...
You woke up on a cold, wet floor and with a severe headache that almost made you nauseous. You slowly opened your eyes and had to get used to the darkness, you weren't sure where you were or what had happened to you, you only remembered being about to enter your mother's house and then that unbearable pain that left you faint. Suni… sure, Suni. That bitch set you up, but why?
Very slowly you sat up and realized that your hands were tied tightly with a rope, luckily they had not gagged you but you assumed it was because you were in a place where no one could hear you. Suddenly you heard sounds of splashing water and turned your head to see. In a round window you could see the sea, you were on a damn boat
You sat up with difficulty to see outside. The salty breeze hit you squarely and gave you the strength to wake up and get into action. You were about to come up with a plan when you heard footsteps approaching. A governor approached your cage and placed a hand on the bars to open the cell. You froze in place waiting for the moment to attack.
When the man entered you approached quickly but he stopped you by taking a gun out of his pocket.
"Don't even try, dear" He said while pointing at you
You stepped back in resignation as he smirked. You hated it
"Why the fuck did you lock me in here?"-you spat out the words like they were poison
"Simple, you were causing us a lot of problems especially when you started allying with Mihawk. But that's over"-he said playing with the gun
You approached again with a bitter smile. "You think you're very virile, don't you? Locking up a woman, believing that this way you'll gain more power, what did they offer you in exchange for my head? Money, a higher position? They wouldn't give you that even if I You're just another pawn in this chain, an idiot who delights in the inferiority of others, I feel sorry for you. You're just a miserable son of a-!"
A loud crack was heard throughout the cell and reverberated. The son of a bitch had slapped you. You fell to the ground with a pitiful moan, feeling like your lip had been split. You licked it and felt that iron taste.
"I'm not the one who's tied up, do yourself a favor and shut your fucking mouth."
The man spit on the ground and left to lock you up again. You felt alone and tears fell towards your cheeks without being able to stop them. You thought about many things but above all about Mihawk, you wanted him to come rescue you. You no longer cared about all those stupid feelings you had for him, because they weren't stupid. They made you feel good, loved and safe. You promised yourself that if you came out of this alive you would confess your love to him.
...
Dracule had gone out as always to do his job, kill. But he thought he felt a little lonely and realized it was because you weren't there. He would never admit it but his games and teasing towards you had a deeper meaning than just making you angry. He was amused when you challenged him but over time he realized that he had also fallen in love. Love…was it possible to feel that? Was it possible for someone like him to love? With you everything was possible.
With his Yoru on his waist he walked the beach looking for you, it was strange that you weren't turning around or running away from someone. Suddenly he saw someone but unfortunately it was not who he wanted to see. Shanks came running agitated and disheveled towards his friend.
"What do you want now Shanks? I'm not going to drink with you this time."
"It's Y/N! She's in danger, I saw how the government took her away!"-he said breathlessly
So the pirate hurriedly explained how he had seen Y/N and a girl in the market. He followed them and saw when they beat her and took her away. Dracule's eyes seemed to flash and turn yellower as his hand tightened on the hilt of his sword until his knuckles turned white. He turned around and with long steps walked away from there.
"Wait! Where are you going?"-Shanks shouted.
Mihawk without turning, said "I'm going to save her"
...
You were still in your cage racking your brain thinking about an idea to escape from there, you couldn't take it anymore. From time to time some men would approach your cell to whistle at you or laugh in your face. Suddenly you saw a loose screw in a wall and started rubbing the ropes to untie the ropes. It took you several tries but you got it. Just in time when a uniformed member of that ship came to bring you food. You pretended to still be tied and approached, hunched over a little. When he opened the cell you got up and kicked him to run away.
You felt him shouting orders to catch you but you didn't hear him, you just ran towards the deck, eager to get out of there. When you came out you saw a large number of men surrounding you, some holding guns, you decided to take the risk and fight with all your strength.
There were too many of them but you managed not to get hit. What you didn't take into account was that you felt the fatigue of being locked up and your strength was leaving you. Suddenly while you were fighting with an admiral you felt a gunshot and a burning sensation in your arm. With a grimace of pain you first looked at your bleeding arm, the bullet had grazed you but still cut you, and then you looked back. The man who had locked you up was holding the gun towards you.
"She's mine"
They fought, although it didn't last long. He was stronger and soon with a blow to your jaw and belly he left you lying on the ground. You felt your body burn and you held back the tears of pain that wanted to appear in your eyes. You crawled as best you could on the ground to get away from him.
"That's it, crawl like the bitch you are. You know, you were right, I love feeling superior to the weakest"-He laughed as he kicked your legs, making you scream in pain.
"Don't worry, I'll spare you the pain, it'll just be a quick death" He said sarcastically as he prepared to shoot.
You closed your eyes in fear and your body tense as you waited for the shot. but that never came, instead a strong shake made the ship shake, someone was firing cannons. With great effort you propped yourself up on your elbows and saw Mihawk's ship in the distance. You sobbed in relief.
The ship got closer and closer until it soon collided with the other and Dracule jumped towards where you were. You were feeling very sore so you could only pick up a few things, like how Mihawk seemed angrier than usual as he moved frantically and killed the men mercilessly. When he had finished he approached you with a genuinely concerned face, you've never seen him like this.
"M-mihawk...?"-you said almost without strength
He crouched down to your height. "Shh, don't say anything. Let's get out of here."
He picked you up from the ground and you complained about the pain, he tried to be as delicate as possible and taking you to the wedding reception he walked away from there so he could leave you in his castle. Your vision became blurry again and you became unconscious.
...
When you woke up you noticed a soft, pleasant warmth. You opened your eyes and noticed that you were in Mihawk's castle and that heat was from the fireplace. Dracule was sitting right in front of you, you smiled shyly and wanted to sit up but a sharp pain in your abdomen made the air escape from your lungs and you fell back into the chair. He approached, afraid that you had hurt yourself, and put his hand under your neck.
"Don't move, you still need to rest."
You looked down at your body and noticed that your shirt was gone and a large band on your abdomen was pressing against your skin. On your arm there was also a tight white band to stop the blood. You instinctively touched your lip and noticed that it was no longer bleeding.
"I called a doctor myself to treat you, he said that your injuries are not that serious and you will be fine."
You looked at him and suddenly remembered everything you had been through. All the accumulated nerves and tension were triggered and came out in the form of crying. Without realizing it you began to sob bitterly. Mihawk was worried and wiped away your tears, holding your cheek with his hand.
"Darling, what's wrong?"
You cried harder as you held on to his hand. How would you tell him that you loved him in a state like that? When you realized that you were about to die, you thought about him, how much you loved him and how much you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him. And now he had been so nice to you, as if he were someone else. You really felt that he cared about you and also felt love.
"Mihawk, I… I don't know where to start. Something like this had never happened to me, I- I felt afraid, very afraid. I thought I was going to die and the only thing I thought about was you" you felt your voice break "Thinking about you gave me hope, you were my anchor so I wouldn't give up and I realized… that I don't want to live without you, I love you."
Since you couldn't stop sobbing, Dracule approached you and kissed you on the lips. At first it was a sweet and tender kiss but soon you two realized that it was not enough, it was not enough to show all the love and desire that you had been suppressing so he placed a hand behind your neck and deepened the kiss. . You gasped in surprise when you felt his tongue run through your mouth but you gladly let him do it. Mihawk rested his knees on the cushions of the chair, cornering you while he raised your thighs and you surrounded his waist with your legs. Your hands surrounded his neck and he began to kiss your jaw and run his lips and his facial hair along your neck, tickling you.
"I didn't realize how much I loved you either until I saw you lying there, helpless" He whispered against your skin "All these games were starting to take their toll on me, you've cast a spell on me angel"
His words and his whispered voice were beginning to cause that tickling in your tummy that you already knew with the addition of a throbbing in your groin.
"Mihawk I-"
His mouth was now kissing your collarbones near your chest and making you sigh, you wanted more. You cautiously raised your hips until you bumped against his pelvis, wanting some friction as your hands were now in his hair. Mihawk kissed you again, sucking and biting your lower lip. Suddenly he got too close to your wounded belly and made you moan in pain. Startled slightly, he moved away from you a little, looking at you.
"Don't worry, it wasn't your fault, I'm fine."-You comforted him by stroking his jaw when you saw him so worried.
He nodded in relief and grabbed your hand to kiss your knuckles.
"Rest now my love, there will be time to enjoy the two of us"
You smiled a little blushing and he left you alone to recover. You never thought something like this could happen to you, or to him. Love love love. YES, that was it and you liked it that way. I resisted you thinking that at first they couldn't stand each other, and now… well only time will tell, but you were sure that this was the beginning of something beautiful.
...
That afternoon you went to visit your mother as you usually did. Now you were chatting with her in the same chair as always.
"Oh honey, the letters you sent me are very nice but you finally appear here!"-she laughed
Yes, it had been weeks since Mihawk let you stay in his castle, since you couldn't go out anywhere he suggested you write letters to your mother and he would send them himself. That's how you started telling your mother about your experience in the big castle, your relationship with Mihawk and what had happened to you. Until you recovered and were able to visit her like now.
"Well… what did you think? Did you read them all?"
"Of course yes! I admit that I was very scared when I read about the kidnapping, but it was lovely to know that they rescued you and left you in a castle!" She lowered her voice and looked at you knowingly. "Above all, I found the letters where you named Mihawk very interesting."
"Mom!"
You looked away blushing and embarrassed. In your letters you had told him what Dracule was like, but not what others could know about him but something deeper, what he was like inside. Your relationship with him had blossomed, you could say that you were already a formal couple. And your mother seemed happy about it. Of course you never clarified your intimate encounters with him, the way he touched you and made you sigh with pleasure.
"Well, if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to the castle, he's waiting for me for lunch."
"I understand love, I won't keep you anymore"
After a hug you said goodbye to her and ran towards the castle. Now you lived with him. You decided that after everything you went through you couldn't be away from him for a minute, ever again. You continued doing your job and his, sometimes separately or fighting together, that had not changed. When you arrived he greeted you with a small smile and a passionate kiss.
"Just in time, my angel"
"Always"
They both entered the castle holding hands, happy. As they say, the sun always comes out after the storm, right?

Frost covered window - Kate Bishop
Tumblr media
You'd been on a walk, out to get some coffee with your girlfriend Kate by your side, listening as she mumbled on about her latest mission with Clint, and her struggles to house-train lucky, despite having had the dog for over a year now. You were beginning to think such a thing was a hopeless task when the dog had gained such common habits, but Kate was determined to make it work. There was pure love in her heart, and when she changed the subject, broaching the topic of going shopping with you—something you hadn't done together in a while—you could hear the smile playing between her words. It was bright, and when you looked at her, the flash of her teeth and the sweet, reassuring shine in her eye was all it took to convince you to agree. But for now, you were getting coffee, so shopping would have to wait.
Or so you thought. Walking down the wintering streets of New York was no new task to you, but you'd never taken the deepest of time to glance into many of the shop windows. There was one store, however, that had stolen your heart long before any other had the chance when you first moved here, and that was a small retail warehouse with the cutest plushies in the window.
Some were regular stuffed animals, teddy bears, and fluffy dogs that parents would buy their children in the place of a real living pet for Christmas, but they weren't the things that stole your heart. The deep desire you held for the store was due to one thing and one thing only. The Squishmallows that sat in the shop window, all different colours, animals, objects, and sizes. You were absolutely obsessed with the idea of owning one, but one of the plushies, in particular, drew your eyes to it each time you passed the window. It had been there for weeks, the cutest thing you had ever seen, and you were desperate for it. So desperate in fact that you stop in the middle of the street once you reach the store, Kate walking on ahead of you before she realises that she's left you behind.
When she backtracks, standing back at your side with an amused smile, you're snapped out of the trace that the store window had put you in. "Sorry," you mumble taking Kate's hand, "let's go."
You move to talk a step forward, to keep walking toward your trusted coffee shop, when Kate pulls you back to her side. "You want one, don't you?" Her smile is wide as she asks the question, and you don't know if the cold causes the red tint to your cheeks, or if it is in fact, an embarrassed blush.
"No, I was just looking." You tug on her hand again, though your gaze travels back to the window where your eyes lock on that one Squishmallow, staring back at you in the hopes that you will buy it this time. After every passing of the store, it calls to you, that singular plushie, begging you to take it home.
"Which one?" Kate's voice comes again, and you turn back to her, pretending not to long for the thing in the window as much as you truly are.
"What'd you mean?" She's still smiling and as you say it you watch Kate's gaze flicker between you and the window full of toys.
She pulls you closer to the store, an arm around your waist as you both face the glass, looking through its frosted exterior. "Which one do you want?" Her voice is genuine and not mocking at all like you thought it might be. When you look at her, she's eyeing the toys closely, as if examining which one would be best for you.
You give in, and point to the Squishmallow in the corner, the one that had been catching your eye for more than a few weeks. You couldn't believe it hadn't sold yet with how cute it was.
"That one there?" Kate points too as she says it, stepping forward to get a closer look and bringing you with her, arm still around your waist. "It is pretty adorable," She turns her gaze to you at last, her smile still present, "Just like you."
The line is so cheesy that it makes you laugh, but before you can respond Kate is dragging you into the store, the dinging of the entryway bell alerting the man behind the counter of your appearance. He's old, wrinkles covering his face like a crumpled piece of paper or perhaps a well-loved map. He seems kind and smiles as you head over to the toys in the window.
"Kate, no." You try to pull your girlfriend back as she reaches for the toy you'd been ogling previously but Kate's stronger than you are, taking the soft thing in her arms before you can even think to leave the shop.
"You want it?" She takes your hand, placing it on the toy and waiting for your reaction, and as much as you hate people spending money on you, the feeling of the comforting plushie, combined with its cuteness is tempting. You smile when your fingers meet its soft fabric and instantly Kate knows the answer is yes. She brings it up to the counter without a second thought, smiling at the old man.
"We'll take this one, please." He grins back at her, darting his eyes to you and scrunching his nose in approval.
"About time, I've seen you eyeing this cute thing up for about a month now, I kept it on hold just for you."
His statement is alarming and both yours and Kate's eyes widen, though for different reasons. "You've kept this on hold for me this whole time?" Your voice sounds just as shocked as you feel, but Kate buts in before the man can answer, her eyes on you and a frown resting heavily upon her features.
"You've wanted this for a month and didn't tell me? I could have got it ages ago if you'd asked."
All you can do is shrug in response and the old man at the counter lets out a raspy laugh, from the cold air outside or his age, you don't know. "Well, you're getting it now and that's what counts." He rings up the item and hands it back to you as Kate pays, and you thank him profusely for putting the toy on hold. That explains why such a sweet thing hadn't been sold earlier at least, and when you leave the shop, Squishmallow in your arms and a smile on your face, Kate pulls you in for a kiss. It's short and sweet, but it warms you up all the same.
"Thank you." You whisper when you've pulled back from her lips, red swarming your cheeks again. "You're the best girlfriend ever."
Kate lets out a laugh, pulling you a little closer, the Squishmallow between you. "That's all you babe, but I've got to ask the question," The tone in her voice has become serious, and the expression on her face has fallen to become the same, and just as you begin to stress, she speaks again. "What are you going to name it?" She looks down at the plush between your bodies and you kiss her again, thinking of possible answers in your head as you do so. You'll get coffee later and sit and talk about all the things you could call your new prize, and eventually, you'll choose one together. Kate will smile at every option you put forward, her grin widening every time you'll squeeze the toy before taking a sip of your drink. It's been a great morning, and the day can only get better from here.
