Mr. President, for several centuries, my kingdom has ruled India with a stick and carrot. When we had a particular problem with someone, one solution we would try is to make him a maharaja. That's kind of a regional king. We would pay him off with an annual tribute, and in return, he would be loyal to the crown.

LEO

Lord Marbury, under our Constitution, our President is not empowered to create maharajas.

MARBURY

Yes. Thank you for clearing that up, Leo. Having been educated at Cambridge and the Sorbonne, I am, as you know, exceedingly stupid.

BARTLET

John, please.

MARBURY

You've been paying the world off since the industrial age. Foreign aid, during the Cold War was you paying dictators to be on your side. To this very day, you pay Korea not to develop nuclear weapons.

A computer industry, and for that, they require an infrastructure, and that is what you can give them.

I know that the fandom is mostly female because it's an otome game, but are there any queers in the fandom? And Obey Me is comforting to you?

I started the game before I knew about my identity and while I was still a minor trying to deal with the whole repressed, Christian BS + religious trauma, and Obey Me really helped me accept myself and feel alive. I mean, they're just some demons (+ plus non-demoms) who do not have any care for sexuality or a gender presentation and are so unhinged themselves that they would accept any type of MC that's thrown their way. They might be written for a "female gaze," but the fandom is completely accepting and very nice to people regardless of how you present or identify.

So, I'm curious if any queers (yes, it can be gender, sexuality, romantic preference, or a mixture of the above) find comfort in this game too?

genuinely I think one of the most pressing calls for Christians (namely Protestant Christians) today is to stop underestimating the power of beauty

visual beauty, beauty in word, beauty in sound, beauty in story

we have ceded beauty for the past 70 years to the atheistic world and people of all beliefs are realizing that world has failed to carry that standard. people are realizing their daily lives are starved of beauty--especially natural beauty--so they are turning to the entities which recognize its power. entities like paganism, witchcraft, ancestor worship, the New Age. if they are drawn to Christianity (not necessarily believing it), they are more likely to attend a Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox mass.

humans need beauty because humans need God, and beauty belongs to God. which means the church should be the standard-bearer of beauty in this world.

if a church can afford it, they should prioritize building a beautiful church, even if that means it will be smaller or less trendy.

if a church has skilled musicians in their midst, they should prioritize using those musicians in worship, even if it means the style of the music changes.

the church should always prioritize hymns and spiritual songs which exemplify goodness, truth, and beauty in their composition and lyrics, even if it means newcomers don't understand every line yet.

all these forms of beauty should reflect the beauty of the story of the Gospel.

Prompt 8 - Tidy

They’d fallen asleep in each other's arms again. James woke with a smile on his face. Regulus wouldn’t be as happy when he woke up, but James was determined to enjoy this little pocket of peace. He looked down at Regulus, snuggled up against him. His hair was messier than James had ever seen. James wanted so badly to run his fingers through the bird's nest of curls, but he knew if he moved, Regulus would wake up, and then he’d leave. To keep himself from reaching out, he focused on Regulus’s features, his eyes greedily drinking them in. His face looked so soft when he slept. His scowl was completely gone, and his lips opened into a little o as he breathed in and out. His eyelids fluttered and then opened, blinking hard as he took in where he was. James sighed internally as the spell was broken and reality crept back in.

“Hi,” Regulus murmured sleepily. “What time is it?” James rolled and checked the clock that had appeared on the bedside table. 

“Erm, almost eight I think,” He said, squinting at the clock instead of getting his glasses. Regulus sighed and pushed up on James’s chest. 

“Shit!” He exclaimed. “It’s nine,” He scrambled out of the bed and hurriedly collected his clothes and put them on. James watched him from the bed with a dopey smile on his face. Even dressing in a rush, Regulus looked so neat and tidy. It was hard to believe they were yesterday's rumpled clothing. 

“Will I see you tonight?” James asked, in no hurry to leave the bed. He didn’t have quidditch practice today and his first lesson wasn’t for another hour. 

Regulus looked up, his scowl firmly back in place. 

“I don’t think that’s a good idea. If I don’t sleep in my own bed my friends are going to be more insufferable than usual,” James felt the smile fall from his face. 

“Yeah, you’re probably right,” He got up then, no longer enjoying being in their bed all alone. He pulled his clothes on and looked exactly like he’d out on yesterday's clothes. 

“I’m sorry,” Regulus said by the door, his hand on the handle ready to open it.

“It’s fine, love,” James knew, his smile barely made it to his eyes. 

“Maybe we can have another swimming lesson tomorrow?” Regulus suggested a touch, hopefully. James’s smile grew. 

“Yeah, love, that sounds perfect,” He swooped in and kissed a sweet, soft kiss to Regulus’s lips and stood back so he could leave the room. Their room. 

Regulus opened the door with a small, happy smile on his face, and all hell broke loose.

For the ask game, an au where Sabine and Ezra are Kanan and Heras ages and vise versa. Sabezra is now spectres one and two and Kanera is specters 5 and 6

At first I was like hmmm tricky but fun! And then I started writing it and now OH BOY THE POTENTIAL have a snippet:

“Are we sure this is a good idea?”

Ezra glanced up at Sabine. The Mandalorian woman had her arms folded, a frown twisting her face. “What?”

“Hera going to Shantipole.”

Ezra shrugged, sitting up. “Kanan thinks it’s a good idea.”

“Kanan’s a kid with a crush.”

Snickering, Ezra said, “Fair enough. But you and I both know Hera’s the best pilot around, even at fifteen. She can handle this new fighter, whatever it is.”

Sabine sighed. “Yeah. I guess you’re right.” She hesitated, studying him. “You’re planning to get ready to do the run if we don’t get back in time, aren’t you?”

“...yeah,” Ezra admitted. “The people of Ibaar need our help. And we need to be as ready as possible to help them. But you’ll be back in time.”

Scowling, Sabine said, “I don’t like this. What if we’re not.”

“Then it’s a good thing we have Rex as backup.”

“Not sure that’s a good thing, Ezra.”

Waving a dismissive hand, Ezra said, “We also have Chopper. And Kanan’s getting pretty good on the cannons of the Ghost. Honestly, the hardest part of this is gonna be convincing Hera to leave the ship.” Despite the fact that the Ghost was, technically, Sabine’s, Hera had developed an attachment far more quickly than anyone had expected.

Sabine grinned a little, but it faded. “Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone.”

Ezra shrugged. “Come back quickly, then.”

They held each other’s gazes for a moment, then Sabine nodded. “Deal.”
