A/N: Yes, hello, I know I’ve been quiet for a while now. Between health problems, hyper fixations, and the death of a cat I loved dearly, let’s just say I’ve been having a tough time lately. But I’m back! Hopefully I’ll get back to regularly posting soon.

It had all started by you calling him pretty. It was meant to be joking, as you had never actually seen his face, but that genuinely surprised and bashful look in his eyes prevented you from taking it back. His hands fidgeting in front of him as you tried to find the words to apologize for perhaps making him uncomfortable or awkward when he suddenly spoke.

“Tat es weh, als du vom Himmel gefallen bist?” He asked in his native tongue, scratching at his cheek through the thick fabric of his mask, his eyes meeting yours, and you could just barely make out the fact that his pupils were blown wide when he looked at you.

“What?” You asked dumbly. Even if ypu understood German, you were too dumbfounded by his sudden words that you didn’t even understand what he said.

“Tat es weh, als du vom Himmel gefallen bist?” He asks again, leaning in, invading your personal space so he could get a closer look at your eyes. “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”

A shocked laugh left you, but you regretted it when you saw his head lower a bit, averting his eyes from your face. He thought you were laughing at him.

“Sorry, but I crawled my way up from hell.” You tell him, giving a wink when he seems to straighten, his body signaling that he’s nervous yet excited as he fidgets with his thick gloves, picking at the frayed seams of them.

“Explains why you’re so hot.” He says, his voice dropping a few octaves, a pleasant rumble in your ears. “Speaking of heat, is it hot in here or is it just you?”

That one earned him another chuckle and you could tell he was smiling now by the way the creases around his eyes crinkled, almost making it look like he was squinting.

“I think it’s actually just you.” You tell him, boldly poking the center of his chest, not expecting him to scoop up your hand with his own, gently cradling it as he brings it up to where his lips should be, kissing your knuckles through the fabric of his mask.

“No, it’s definitely you.” He says, pleased by the way you start to crumble at the edges, becoming a bit flustered by his words. It was all so cheesy but…..you kinda liked it when it was coming from him.

“Listen here, big guy. If you’re planning on sleeping alone tonight then you better stop now.” You playfully warn, feeling a shiver run down your spine at the way his eyes widen and narrow, a determination setting in them as he reaches out to brush his hand along yours, linking your pinkies on top of the bar.

“It’s cold out tonight, maybe we should huddle together to keep warm.” He practically purrs, leaning in closer, amused when you push at his face, then tug him outside by the hood of his jacket.

I know well, that Konig is from Austria and German language is a bit different from Austrian. The only reason, I'm doing this list for German language instead of Austrian: I know German well enough to personally check every phrase on my list. I live in southern Germany since 2019 and understand written Austrian, but would not venture to make a similar list for phrases in Austrian.

These phrases are not headcanons - just useful helpers for my fellow ficwriters!

I`ve tried to keep this list SFW, so there is no really kinky stuff or any swear words. But if you guys are interested - I can try to bring such a naughty list together as well.

Neither English nor German are my first languages, so there's a possibility of a mistake always.

(very) Ground rules

All nouns, names (and nicknames) are always capitalized.

Here are a few useful letters, so that you don't search for them on your keyboard: ä, ö, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü.

"my/your + masculine noun" = mein/dein + noun or name (e.g. Mein Horangi)

"my/your + feminine noun" = meine/deine + noun or name (e.g. Meine Josephine)

"chen" is a diminutive suffix (We'll need that with pet names).

Since I’m a romance guy this was my fave episode in a while. As usual, Fern steals the show. Her pouty faces are the cutest thing ever and I found her getting upset about Stark “forgetting” her birthday to be an extremely realistic reaction from any girl. Especially not wanting to explain why she was mad 😂

In the end I’m glad everything worked out thanks to Sein’s advice like he said, people won’t know how you feel unless you tell them. Not just for the birthday present, but also for Fern’s budding feelings towards stark. One of my fave ships 🙏🏾

I like how Fern and Stark’s trip to pick out a present is contrasted with Himmel and Frieren’s. Even the scene where they make up is right in front of Himmel’s statue. You could tell that Frieren saw the similarities and really wanted to make sure they didn’t miss out on that opportunity

Speaking of Frieren, can’t get over how cute she looked searching for the ring Himmel gave her. That must mean so much to her especially with him being gone. She didn’t want to hold the party up from leaving, but Fern could read between the lines. The new lost and found spell really came in handy there.

The scene of Himmel and Frieren picking out the ring was everything 😩 “eternal love” is such a fitting way to sum up their relationship. Heavy emphasis on eternal

I love how the structure of the series mirrors Frieren’s own internal journey regarding Himmel—he’s introduced as this guy who dies immediately after we barely get to know him, and you’re kinda like “ok whatever, I guess he’s dead lol.” But then as Frieren reminisces throughout the story and we see the flashbacks, we begin to fall in love and realize what a great and kind person Himmel was alongside Frieren, which makes it feel all the more personal and real to the reader, and allows us to identify and empathize with Frieren intimately. Because we are Frieren, discovering and grieving this amazing person who was gone all too soon.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 22 Review - Intermission

The end of the first day exam means it’s an intermission episode. Frieren, Fern and Stark are reunited and have some fun together…and by fun, that means appeasing Fern’s bad mood by eating food. Yeah, they spend their break eating at a restaurant Frieren once ate at with her old party eighty years ago.

Not only does Frieren’s party have fun with their leisure time, the other exam participants have their fun too. It seems that friendships have been formed after the first exam with Denken’s team forming an unlikely friendship; I find the grandfather-granddaughter relationship between Denken and Laufen adorable. Richter seems like a chill guy when he’s off mage duty as he runs a magic tool repair shop. Despite Richter’s protests on not wanting to spend time with Denken, he does so. He even takes him to the restaurant that Denken really wanted to go to. I do like that Denken’s so chill and wise. He tells Richter that being a mage means being willing to mingle with others without regrets. When they saw Frieden’s group in the restaurant, he said to leave them alone to enjoy their meal. He’s so cool. I want to know more about him.

Ubel and Land develops an odd friendship too with Ubel seemingly being intrigued by Land but he could care less about her. It seems that Ubel’s magic is to be able to copy another person’s magic as she was able to copy Wirbel’s Sorganeil to bind Land. Ubel’s thought process is very unique as she thinks about murder and violence, but knows when to hold back because of empathy. I do feel like Ubel likes him. They’re constantly seen together in this episode, so who knows if the writers will push this ship. I find it quite intriguing.

Kanne and Lawine are still their usual self, but seeing the latter all dolled up was a nice sight to behold. Lawine has three older brothers who spoil her rotten. Seeing her mom join in on dressing her up felt like seeing my mom wanting to dress me up in nice feminine clothes. If you listen carefully, the music used during the rather romantic moment between the two ladies is the music played when Stark and Fern danced together in Episode 15. I chuckled when the music cut off just as the music was about to get to the highlight as Lawine pulls Kanne’s pigtails as always. I ship them as much as I ship Stark and Fern and Frieren and Himmel. Kanne even did the kneeling thing that Stark and Himmel did. Other than that, it was nice to see them hanging out with Frieren and Fern. They don’t have to be enemies in this moment of peace. They’re grateful towards Frieren for helping them pass and it’s nice to see Frieren reminisce about how helping someone can impact them, even if it’s just small gestures.

Wirbel and Scharf seem to be close friends. What’s even funnier is that they develop an odd friendship…with Stark of all people. While Stark was a bit uncomfortable being surrounded by girls, Wirbel came in at the right moment to take him away. It did look like he was hitting on him. I do wonder if Fern will have to worry about her potential love rivals as she’s gonna have to fend off both male and female suitors for Stark in the future. Stark does attract male attention, surprisingly.

The scenes with the hero’s party was nice! Seeing Frieren reminisce about the food she ate from the past and how kind actions can be instilled in people’s memories so that no one would be forgotten. I just feel like Frieren is learning more about people and it’s so nice to see.

The second day exam will start next episode and it’ll be proctored by Sense. She is notorious for not letting anyone pass the exams she proctored in the past four years. I do wonder what will happen this time around. Will she let people pass this time around? I can’t wait to see what the second exam has to offer. Which interactions were your favorite?

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 1 - Lots To Take In

Bit of a crossroads here with Frieren for me. I'm a huge fan of Satiou's work, and I love Madhouse when they're at their best. But I'm rather critical of some of the aspects of Frieren and it's somewhat overblown popularity. That said, there wasn't any way I was going to miss out on this insane 2 hour special episode, and it's left me with a lot to talk about! Considering the insane length of 2 hours though, I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

Alright, first things first, it's just downright beautiful. The environment art is nothing short of incredible and is a huge upgrade over the manga. People talk about Frieren's art being "beautiful", and I can agree that the characters and some of the environments can be really pretty, but I never really thought of them in the way others did. But with the anime, I see it now. The incredible beauty on display, especially with the dedication to detail and beauty with interiors and buildings.

Next on the list is colors, or I guess direction (?) as Saitou really likes using the sky to apply negative space for monologuing with characters. A really interesting idea that works great, but one that I was surprised to see considering how little we see of Saitou's interest/penchant for faceless characters. Of course, you'll see faceless background characters but never any of the leads.

How about animation, then? It's interesting. It's not really anything that will make you marvel unless you're looking for it. The big moments are there from time to time, but by and far the focus is on providing detail for everything, even the smallest moments. A little seed rat running around, or the splash from a shot hitting a puddle. Character acting benefits from this detail a great deal, and is the most important piece in the sense of animation. Just look at this sequence. Incredibly simple, but also incredibly important as it gives viewers something to understand the characters by. It's not just the words of Himmel that are extravagant, it's his movements as well. Heiter isn't just an alcoholic, but the kind of guy that struggles to be serious. Then there's Eisen and Frieren, both of which are denoted by their distant and stiff interaction during the conversation. It's a piece that was sorely missing from the manga, the ability to connect with these characters in the present, as a viewer. To better understand their personality and get more time to feel out how they act.

Time, that's a good segue. The pacing in this special is phenomenal. I will always, always talk about how newer mangaka tend to try and rush things to get their points across, attempting to speed along to deliver the punchline or reveal. Frieren is somewhat similar in that regard as the manga wastes no time going through the motions. Here though, we have 4 episodes worth of content, or a little over an hour and a half. That covers the first volume and 3 pages at most. To put it in perspective, most anime will adapt about 5 or 6 volumes of manga in a 12 episode season. At Frieren's current pace, it'll adapt 3 volumes in 12 episodes worth of content. And that's what it needs, the time and space the explore itself, to further flesh out, examine, and understand the world and its characters. A great example is Himmel's funeral. It removes the stone-faced Frieren crying scene and replaces it with something far more drawn out, something far deeper. It's not the fact that Himmel died that upsets Frieren, it's the fact that he's gone and she can't learn anything more about him. The fact that he is buried in the ground and will not be able to answer her questions or spend more time with her. It's a far stronger and more emotional depiction of the sequence than the manga.

However, not everything is as perfect as I wished for it to be. The past is the main focus of Frieren, though I suppose its intended goal is to highlight the importance of the present through the past, but the manga's approach denies that facet of the narrative. It's flashback central where it uses Frieren's previous journey to contextualize and explain everything.

And this is where one of the best changes actually happens. Heiter recants the story of finding a young Fern all alone and on her own, where he talks about how it was Himmel that inspired him to take her in. In the manga, it launches into a flashback where Heiter idealizes Himmel, but I'm so very glad that the staff behind the sequence understood the potential better. Instead of the flashback of Himmel, it focuses on Heiter's self-deprecation using Himmel as a comparison. How who he is is weaker than Himmel. And that because of that, he feels the need to try and be more like him now that he's gone. It's not "the immortal Himmel is the greatest person ever", it's "the man that was better than me in every way is gone now. I feel worse for it, so I want to follow in his footsteps.". Also, very cool little piece of direction that draws viewers towards the conclusion that Heiter himself detests his own drinking habits (and that Fern is most likely why he stopped drinking).

Like I said earlier though, this is both the best change and an outlier. The further in the story continues, the more it normalizes towards the manga. The pacing is still great, but the flashbacks increase in frequency and duration past this point. Which is disappointing because of what the past is.

It's the past. It's immutable, impossible to change or experience once more. It's ever distant and fleeting, but equally so close and memorable. The amount of flashbacks ruins the delicacy of that past. It's no longer something lost, no longer something that cannot be seen again. And it feels like a waste. What's the point in the past being the past if it's featured so often in the present?

Perhaps the most frustrating example comes from episode 3 where Frieren and Fern are having a fancy dinner and musing over what to choose for dessert. Fern makes an assumption that Himmel had made in the past, so we launch into a flashback about Frieren not knowing people. The sentiment behind the story is valid and important, but the execution is painful.

The words overlap, the sentiment and importance does as well. Why then, would you not explore the potential of layering past over present to have Frieren address Fern as well as Himmel to show how she's growing from her past and current experiences?

To summarize in broad terms, the inclusion of the past isn't bold enough. It's plain, and that plainness is, well, plain to see. It drags things down and weighs on viewers and the flow of the story (not to be confused with pace).

And that's where I end my commentary. Madhouse and Saitou are doing some truly incredible visual work, and showing they have the potential and ability to take the manga and make everything better. However, at times they lack the boldness and confidence to tackle some tougher concepts. We've got a whole lot of time with this series though so I'm very excited to see what they attempt to do with it.

Pavel hatte sich in den Schatten gesetzt, lehnte am festen Stamm der großen Eiche und las ein Buch. Beide genossen die Stille und auch, wenn sie nicht miteinander redeten, fühlte sich keiner von ihnen allein. Es war unüblich, dass sich nur zwei der insgesamt vierzig Burschen im Innenhof befanden, doch bis auf die beiden waren alle ausgeflogen. Als Strafe, dass sie sich am Vorabend rausgeschlichen hatten, durften sie an dem Ausflug in die Stadt nicht teilhaben, doch der Ältere der beiden konnte sich Schlimmeres vorstellen. Welch ein Hochgenuss es war, inmitten all der Geräusche in der warmen Sommersonne in den Himmel zu schauen, während die Blätter der großen Eiche über ihm Schattenspiele auf ihn warfen, den Wind im Gesicht zu spüren und die Augen geschlossen zu haben. Das Leben hatte nicht sonderlich viel zu bieten, aber Momente wie diese erinnerten ihn stets daran, wie schön die Banalitäten des Alltags sein konnten. Das Adoptiert werden war für beide Jungs in die Ferne gerückt. Solange sie einander hatten konnte es sogar unter der vermeintlichen Tyrannei von Mother Penguin schön sein. Zwei andere Nonnen und ein Priester waren ebenfalls hier geblieben, um ein Auge auf die Jungs zu haben, doch keiner von ihnen hatte sich innerhalb der letzten Stunden blicken lassen. Es war ein ungewöhnlich ruhiger Sonntagnachmittag.

"Your time's up", meldete sich Pavel irgendwann und Elijah öffnete ein Auge, sah zu dem Jüngeren hoch, der ihm in der Sonne stand. Er gähnte ausgiebig und kratzte sich verschlafen am Hinterkopf. In seinen Augenwinkeln klebte Schlaf, was grotesk wirkte, wenn man die Uhrzeit beachtete. All seine Bewegungen waren träge, aber das machte die Sonne nunmal. Er sah sich um und bettete seinen Kopf wieder auf seinen Arm, beide Augen wieder geschlossen. "They must've taken down the sign with the 10 minute rule", erwiderte er und konnte sich ein Lächeln nicht verkneifen. Einen Teufel würde er tun und diesen Komfort aufgeben. "There was never a sign in the first place. We've had a verbal agreement, Eli, there's no need for a sign." "Hm, can't remember I agreed on anything. I'm more of a sign guy." "We made a deal. 10 minutes each! That's why you went first!" Elijah sah zu wortlos zu Pavel hoch und machte sich einen Spaß daraus ihn zu ärgern. Kurzerhand stieg der Jüngere ebenfalls in die Hängematte und Elijah zog die Augenbrauen zusammen. "Don't?!" "Just move your fat ass!" Elijah hielt ihm einen Fuß ins Gesicht, woraufhin sich Pavels Mimik änderte und er das Gesicht verzog. "Take a shower, you stink like you died!" Der Brünette grinste breiter und musterte Pavel, der Mühe hatte eine angenehme Position in der Hängematte zu finden. In einem Moment der Unaufmerksamkeit nahm Elijah das Buch an sich und lehnte sich wieder zurück. "Give that back!" Elijah las die Zeilen des Buches quer, ehe er breiter auflächelte und zu seinem Gegenüber sah, den er mit seinem Fuß von sich weghielt. "If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger. What is that? Was that book written before fun was invested? You like in love or something?" "No..." "Damn, Pavel! I'm impressed, thought you gonna end up with one of the nuns here", stellte Elijah mit größtem Amüsement fest und sein Grinsen ging über beide Ohren. "Just give me the damn book back!", stritt der Jüngere vehement ab und schüttelte den Kopf, während er sich herüber beugte und dem Älteren das Buch wieder abnahm. "Now move!" Pavels Gesicht wurde rot, während er sich mühselig in der Hängematte arrangierte und weiterlas.

Auch, wenn keiner von ihnen in einer wirklich angenehmen Position lag, wurde es langsam wieder still zwischen den beiden. Irgendwann ging ein Mädchen im Alter der beiden durch den Innenhof. Sie folgte ihren Eltern, die von dem Priester über das Gelände geführt wurden. Vermutlich Sponsoren, denn sie sahen nicht so aus, als würden sie hier nach einem Kind suchen, was eine gute Partie für ihre Familie darstellte. Elijah musterte sie und trat Pavel leicht, dass auch er seine Aufmerksamkeit ihr widmete. Dann verschwanden sie wieder im Haus. Wäre der Ältere aufgestanden, um ihr hinterher zu gehen, hätte er seinen Platz in der Hängematte verloren. Die Damenwelt musste also noch warten. Er bettete seinen Kopf wieder auf seine Arme und schloss die Augen erneut.  Dann schwiegen sie wieder. Für die Bedeutung und den Wert, den Elijah der Zeit beimaß war es nicht wichtig, ob die beiden still waren, sich kabbelten, oder ob sie ernstere Gespräche miteinander führten. Die Stunden und Minuten hatten für Elijah stets die gleiche Bedeutung, denn die Erinnerungen bewahrte er sich stets und schrieb sie abends nieder. Er söhnte sich mit der Zeit aus, die den beiden blieb. Das war das Wichtigste.

"You wanna get married someday?", brach Pavel dann irgendwann die Stille zwischen den beiden, ließ das Buch sinken und sah zu seinem Gegenüber, der seine Augen wieder geschlossen hatte. "I'm more into girls, sorry Pavel", lächelte Elijah auf und sah zu seinem einzigen Freund, der ihm gegen den Arm trat und seinen Kopf schüttelte. "I'm serious..." "Never really gave it a thought, but I think so? Everyone gets married, would be weird to deliberately not get married. You?" "Hm, I don't know... Do you think I'd be weird if I didn't get married?" "What, to like a woman?" Jetzt öffnete Elijah die Augen und sah zu Pavel gegenüber, neigte seinen Kopf leicht seitlich und zog seine Augenbrauen zusammen. Er ärgerte Pavel gerne, weil es kaum jemanden gab, der ihm fantastische Comebacks lieferte, wie er es tat, aber jetzt war er still geblieben. Irgendwas hatte sich im Blick seines Gegenübers geändert und er konnte nicht wirklich benennen was. Er wusste nicht, ob es Unsicherheit war, oder ob ihn da wirklich etwas Tieferes bewegte. Um den Jüngeren nicht zu verunsichern, antwortete Eli recht gelassen, lehnte sich wieder zurück und schloss seine Augen. "I'm kidding. I don't think you'd be weird. It's probably for the better. Heard most people are pretty unhappy in marriage." "Really?" "Yeah. Imagine having to share a bed for the rest of your life, or having some girl telling you, you have to shower because you smell like you died." Elijah schüttelte sich. "Nah. Now that you mention it, maybe you're my wife and I'm yours, because you too smell like you died and you should take a shower, too." Beide lächelten still und schwiegen kurz, ehe der Blick des Brünetten in Richtung der Tür ging. Eine der Nonnen betrat den Innenhof, ging auf die beiden Jungs zu und tadelte sie sogleich, dass die Hängematte nicht darauf ausgelegt war, dass sie zwei Halbstarke aushalten würde. "Elijah, come with me, please. There's someone who wants to see you."

Seine Wange schmerzte. Könne er sich selbst betrachten hätte er die roten Striemen gesehen, die die strenge Hand des Priesters hinterlassen hatten. Ein älteres Paar hatte das Waisenhaus aufgesucht. Sie arbeiteten in einem Zirkus, der die Sommer über durch die Lande zog. We wanted to have children for years, hatten sie gesagt, We'd love an active boy for our little family. Zu Anfang hatte Elijah aufrecht und in präsentabler Haltung auf dem Stuhl gesessen, während er den Erwachsenen zuhörte, wie sie miteinander redeten. So sehr er sich wünschte, er könne endlich weg von hier, umso mehr betrübte ihn der Gedanke, dass er mit diesen Menschen nach Hause gehen solle. Er ertrug den Gedanken nicht Pavel hier alleine zu lassen, insbesondere nicht im Sommer. So könne er ihn nicht einmal besuchen. "You've put shame upon this orphanage, Elijah. You're never going to find a family if you're behaving like that", hatte Father Gregory den Jungen ermahnt. Er kam aus dem Kopfschütteln gar nicht mehr heraus, woraufhin Elijah ihn still mit dem Straßenhund verglich, der sich oftmals auf dem Gelände herum trieb und  immer so seltsam mit seinem Kopf wackelte. "You think this is funny?!", fuhr der Erwachsene den Jungen an und Elijah schwieg. Wer weiß welche Bestrafung ihm, bis auf die Tracht Prügel und keinem Abendessen, noch blühen würde.  "Hey loser", rief Elijah über den Platz des Innenhofes. Auch, wenn Elijah die Worte des Priesters getroffen hatten, so kämpfte sich der Schein, den er Pavel gegenüber wahren wollte, immer wieder nach oben, so wie Öl in Wasser. Wenn er eine Disziplin beherrschte, dann war es gute Miene zum bösen Spiel zu machen.  Der Jüngere hatte es sich in der Hängematte bequem gemacht, das Buch mit dem Buchrücken nach oben auf seinen Brustkorb gelegt, der sich hob und sank. Er öffnete ein Auge, schloss es dann aber wieder, als der Ältere über ihm stand. "Your time's up." "They must've taken down the sign with the 10 minute rule", erwiderte Pavel nonchalant und grinste selbstgefällig. Elijah musterte ihn, ehe er den Kopf amüsiert schüttelte und den Stoff der Hängematte griff, auf seiner Seite anhob, sodass der Jüngere recht unsanft auf den Boden fiel, ehe sich der Ältere wieder in die Hängematte legte, seine Arme unter seinen Kopf bettete und seine Augen schloss. "I was never much of a sign guy anyway."

ok so sousou no frieren (or frieren beyond journey's end (i think thats the en title)) follows ! well. frieren. she's an elf so she lives an extremely long life (also she is so autism. peak tbh creature but thats unrelated) so time is extremely inconsequential to her. so the story begins at the end of every other like, fantasy anime - the Big Bad has been defeated and the heroes are coming home and settling back into their lives. except frieren splits off from her party to go wander around and collect magic. for 50 years. so when she comes back to honor a promise to her friends that they'll all go see a meteor shower that happens once every like 50yrs, they're all Old.

and then the leader of her party, himmel, dies. (also he was lowkey in love w/ frieren but she Did Not Know and is only figuring it out as the story progresses) which kickstarts frieren's journey.

ngl i kinda forgor what she's doing overall but. she meets up with one of her other party members and stays with him for awhile while training his like. adopted?? daughter as a mage (and she becomes frieren's party member and the two travel together :3) and !!

its this very soft and sweet story. but it's also really cool and intense at times skjdghds like frieren is following the path her original party took - and making new memories along it. the first episode made me cry btw its A Lot. but its such a good series. frieren learns to care about people because she didn't and then lost someone and wishes she had tried harder. so she does. and its so cute so many of the things frieren does all come back to himmel and its just. ough. i need to chew on them.

anyway pls watch frieren its such a good anime. the op is a banger too pls listen to yuusha (srry for no subtitles/translation on that video but </3 the animation is pretty :3 frieren is the elf mage, heiter is the blonde(?) priest, i forgor the dwarf dude's name, and the blue haired guy is himmel ! i don't think you see fern or stark (frieren's current party members) in that version of the op animation tho)

ok so npd himmel thoughts :

this is mainly based on my memory which as we all know is flimsy but i believe in it enough that i think i can share le npd hc thoughts,,,

hes someone who wants to leave his mark on the world. very ambitious and on brand for a hero yes, but the way himmel goes abt it is super interesting. he intentionally delays his heros journey just to help villagers with chores or other activities that seem pretty trivial compared to defeating the king of demons, but he does it anyway. why? to be remembered.

carving his legacy in the world isnt enough. he needs to carve it into a city. a small town. a village. stone statues, gold statues. a depiction of him and his friends in every place he sets foot on.

and he always wants smth in return for his deeds, this is because he doesnt want ppl to feel like they owe him.

he is someone whos wanted to be a hero ever since he was a child. even heiter who grew up with him and didn't like him very much because of his ambition, he helped heiter and he helped him in return and theyve been friends ever since

the way he wants Frieren specifically to be the mage of his party for one selfish reason: he met her as a child when he was lost and she showed him the flower magic spell and hes OBSESSED with it and her by association. therefore, no one else is fit to be the mage of his party

general acting like the best guy ever, without rlly thinking of the consequences (the child demon incident)

lighthearted and played for laughs/jokes but the way he was like posing for so long and kept changing poses the statue maker got sick of it and so did his party

when he saw eisen was scared he comforted him in a way that had to get him involved too

anyway just the way he acts towards frieren, completely trusting her and adoring her and knowing that he will be remembered by her because he remembered her as well.
