Tis a niche of its own
Sorry there is only two female characters, I kinda pulled these off the top of my head and probably missed a ton of other candidates. Reblog with an addition if you have one!
Edit: I forgot to make this poll a week long! Once this poll ends I'll remake it with new additions depending on the results (the characters with the fewest results will be replaced with suggested characters from the notes so be sure to suggest some!) in the meantime tho plz reblog to increase sample size
This follows my own definition of what "Comic Relief" means: A character that is used as a conduit for comedy in a piece of media
Through character studies I have determined that there are 5 types of comic relief: the Character Relief, the Audience Relief, the Tone Shifter, the Butt of the Joke, and the Slapstick. Characters that identify as "Comic Relief" usually fall into one or more of these categories
Further explanation under the cut
The Character Relief refers to a character who actively makes jokes to be funny in-universe through conscious humor. Examples from this poll would be Sans and Rayla, who go out of their way to make their friends laugh
The Audience Relief refers to a character who makes the audience laugh regardless of their impact on the story. Examples from this poll would be Lapis and Gus, who are often involved in comedic bits meant for audience entertainment that aren't acknowledged by the narrative as anything unprecedented
The Tone Shifter refers to a character who makes jokes to relieve tension and shift the tone of a scene, either consciously or unconsciously. Examples from this poll would be Jay and Leo, as they both consciously make jokes about grim situations to help their friends or family feel better. Additionally, Jay would do this unconsciously before his trauma made him start doing it on purpose
The Butt of the Joke refers to a character who is made fun of by other characters in-universe, whether endearingly or not. Examples from this poll would be Dewey and Lance, who are often met with insults whenever they do something wrong or silly. The insults are usually meant to be endearing and comedic, but they can still feed into the character's possible inferiority complex. This also applies whenever a villain hits them with a sick burn*
The Slapstick refers to a character who is made fun of by the narrative and the audience like a punching bag. Examples from this poll would be Sokka and Yusuke, who are sometimes put in troubling and awkward situations as a gag for the audience's entertainment alone. These gags are not fun for the characters yet delightful to watch
Most comic relief characters can be characterized as multiples of these. For example, Jar-Jar from Star Wars is both Slapstick and Audience Relief, and even if you don't find his jokes funny that doesn't change the fact that they were written with your entertainment in mind
If you're curious how a "The Narrative's Favorite (derogatory)" character would fit into this chart, they're likely both a Butt of the Joke and a Slapstick character, making their life absolute hell. To be honest, MK from Monkie Kid is an example of a character who fits all 5 categories, but he isn't blue so he isn't in this poll
*Ok if you've ever seen Phineas and Ferb Mission Marvel let me just say MODOK is a total Butt of the Joke and my favorite line in that special is when a TV announcer calls him a "Giant Chicken Egg with a Face" and I just had to mention that omg

[The future of this BLOG]: SHOWS I'm planning on analyzing here & on YouTube
Interview with the vampire
Invincible
House of the dragon
The boys
Umbrella acadamy
Bridgerton probably (still haven't had time to watch part 2 yet)
stranger things: I have mixed feelings about reviewing it given what certain staff has said and done. I oscilate between wanting to review the final season or wanting to boycott it (especially as someone who has been part of the BDS movement for 1/2 her life). But, on one hand, It's not the fault of the underpaid (and talented) writers and staff who don't have these views. And I do believe some of the writing staff may have good intentions and want to give us a positive and powerful message to the audience about healing from childhood tr*uma. However, other members of the writing staff may just want to go down the stereotypical and popular-easy route. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the last season. If I hear the ending isn't simply another re-hashing of prior seasons and it's more like s1-2 (without the cliches of s3-4). I'd be more inclined to review it by *cough* and watching it elsewhere. Once I was logged back on to tumblr: I did have a whole draft saved about my politics since I was a kid and why I still feel so strongly about such conflicts, today . But, I shouldn't make the topic about me- and I'm not sure anyone wants to hear my life story XD. So, the big point (to my followers) is regardless of whether I chose to watch it or boycot it-
I'm not deleting the old ST content: so do what you want with it (like, reblog, add details to reblogs I didn't notice). Have fun :D !
Analyzing ST certainly helped me improve in terms of media literacy (and it'll be beneficial for the future content I make). So even if it sometimes got messy here, I do appreciate all the positives the ST blog and followers brought to me.The kind words meant a lot. For those who want to unfollow me for my political beliefs , that's totally fine. That's your prerogative. For those who want to unfollow cause again ST was pretty much my whole blog: again I TOTALLY understand and I wish you the best :). I'm not going to judge, take away, or guilt anyone, for their choice of media they like. Enjoy it (I truly mean that).
For those who continue to follow my blog . I appreciate you SO MUCH! I've been gone from this blog for such a long time cause of school (and I appreciate those who stayed and were excited to see me again). The positive words meant a lot over the years. Everyone have a lovely day. Take care of yourselves.
Sincerely, Kay
ps: I'm open to other media suggestions too so you can drop them in my message box (recent films/ shows, mini/limited series, animation, heck i'm open to comedies and foreign media too). But, analyzing them will most likely be after the shows listed above .Right now I'm focusing on my national exam and my mental health. My first video will probably be in late August or early September. My test is August 20th. Hope everyone is doing well .I'm feeling much better mentally. Hope everyone is feeling the same way :)
for my 1st video I’ll just post it to youtube . But for other videos I may make a early access patreon (like a week before the next video comes out free on youtube). Have to google how all that works (or if there's better alternatives) . Totally fine if you can't afford it (you'll get to see it for free on youtube regardless :D) . I'll be honest . I'm primarily thinking of doing it cause I need to pay off those student loans and I'm trying to hopefully move out of state in a few years. Plus, I love analyzing media anyways (so making it a part time job would be a dream come true .

Obscure Far Cry Promos and Content
I'm a big far cry fan, which means I have to make my own food in this economy. But sometimes I just want some ACTUAL canon or canon-ish or even just canon-adjacent content, y'know? It has gotten to the point I go into youtube rabbit holes or watch a remarkably below average hallmark movies for 5 minutes of an actor's screentime to hopefully hear Jason or Ajay or whoever talk. And so in these quests, I've found a couple obscure promos. Gonna compile them here for myself mostly :)
Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3 - The Voices of Insanity: Doctor Earnhardt //a live action video with Alec Earnhardt's VA
Far Cry 3 - The Voices of Insanity: Vaas //same thing but with Michael Mando
Hoyt Audition Far Cry 3 //the last part of "The Voices of Insanity" videos, couldn't find the one from Ubisoft's own account but someone else had posted it on youtube
Far Cry 3 for PS3: TV Spot
Far Cry 3 -- Island Survival Guide: Psychopaths, Drugs & Other Dangers // video narrated by Willis Huntley
Far Cry 3 -- The Savages: Vaas & Buck // this video shows a rare render of vaas with tataus on his arm!
Far Cry 3 | The Tribe: Citra & Dennis //this video has a deleted scene where Jason hallucinates the tatau snaking up his arm
Far Cry 3 -- The Tyrant: Hoyt
Far Cry 3 - Insane Edition // this is a promo done for a special edition for the game, Michael Mando probably couldn't shoot the promo himself and just voice acted, and so they used another actor and made it so the camera never sees Vaas's face.
^ There is also a survival guide titled Face Your Insanity written by post-Rook events Jason Brody as part of the Insane Edition.
Far Cry 3 | E3 2012 Step Into Insanity Trailer [NORTH AMERICA] // this has a few close-ups of Jason and Vaas switching places with each other
Far Cry 3 Interviews (via @lulu2992)
Far Cry 3 Tweets by Jeffrey Yohalem, the lead writer. (also compiled by @/lulu2992! Thanks again!)
Far Cry 4
Divya Kandala's Blog (archived on the Wayback Machine) // Divya Kandala is a fictional journalist who wrote a blog about her travels to Kyrat, her blog's basically world-building promo for FC4. You could also find the house she stayed at in Kyrat!
Far Cry 4 TV Commercial
Far Cry 4 | Kyrat Tuk Tuk Stories //this is the MOST we see ajay in third person in promo content
Far Cry 4 - CGI Trailer // this isn't exactly RARE but it took forever for me to find that clip of ajay's eyes reflecting from the kukri. plus he looks EXTREMELY caucasian which really doesn't help the rumors I've heard that they originally wanted Jason again as FC4's protag
Comedy Central Far Cry 4 Commercial feat Danny Pudi & Donald Glover
Far Cry 4 and Childish Gambino: The Collaboration | PS4, PS3 // a music video for Crawl by Childish Gambino done as a collab
Old Archive.Org link to the Far Cry 4 webpage that had a choose your own adventure campaign
^ and the youtube video to promote it
Far Cry 4 | Behind the Scene Trailer 1/3 [Europe] // developer vlogs when they visited Nepal and interviewed the ghurka that became base for Golden Path, you can see the village that resembles Banapur a lot!
Far Cry 4 Performance Capture Interview // you can see Janina Gavankar, Amita's actress doing some mocap in this
Janina Gavankar Talks Far Cry 4 - ^ and the interview with her after
World Gameplay Premiere - Walkthrough E3 2014 - Far Cry 4 // this was to showcase gameplay but they eventually took out this entire mission where you have to wingsuit to Ratu Gadhi (Yuma's fortress), which is a shame because it looked very nice.
Far Cry 5
i'll be honest, im not a fc5 girlie, so i dont usually do a lot of digging, and im pretty sure these are actually not obscure at all. but these are trailers i found that really blew it out of the park. the marketing team for 5 really went HAM
Far Cry 5: Teaser Trailer | Ubisoft //this has a peggie banging someone's head to a church bell rhythmically with the gorgeous view of Montana mountains as backdrop and i for one, find it hilarious
Far Cry 5 | The Sermon - Live Action Trailer
Far Cry 5 | The Baptism - Live Action Trailer //somebody once mentioned this one has Joseph looking like Trevor GTA and i have never quite known peace ever since. it really also shows the reality of how Joseph is actually just really Unwell, and lore that Joseph killed Pastor Jerome's daughter that never showed up in-game.
Far Cry 5: Anything Can Happen, Everything Will - Live Action TV Spot | Trailer // mixes live action and game CGI renders, pretty cool actually!
The Making of Far Cry 5 | Behind the Scenes of Ubisoft [Documentary]
Far Cry 6 Comics
not gonna put in FC6 stuff because they're actually very easy to find! lots of trailers and mocaps and interviews on youtube :) Far Cry 6 actually has a more obscure lore in their comics
Far Cry: Esperanza's Tears comic // this is a Juan-centric prequel comic that features a completely new country, lore about Far Cry universe's political landscape, and lots of cameos from 3-6's characters! very interesting read especially if you're a sucker for backstories like me
Far Cry: Rite of Passage comic // this is more popular as it features Anton telling Diego the backstories for 3-5's villains.
There is also a book titled The Official Far Cry Survival Guide written by a fictional character called Hunter Nash, who supposedly grew up with Hope County-level of a doomsday prepper dad and winds up as a journalist who travels to the locations of 3-6 and wrote how to survive each location accordingly. It's adorned with official artwork of the games and plenty of survival tips. Not much lore-wise, but cool nonetheless! it also fuels my co-workers au ideas but that's personal.
i have actually found stuff like a really old MTV show called Undressed with Gianpaolo Venuta where he uses his Jason voice for his character, and how Patrick Kwok-Choon, the new voice actor for Ajay does voice acting in Thomas the Train Engine and Paw Patrol, and an indie movie with Greg Bryk where he wears fun sunglasses like Joseph, but that's neither here nor there to the franchise, so eh. // i'll edit this post if i find more, so maybe check back sometimes!

I need to apologize I need to take a break for a while I might occasionally post something Eddsworld related but yeah going to take a break I'm a very mentally ill person and sometimes during a mental breakdowns I do some not great things mostly just cry and wish death upon myself and tell people that they deserve so much better than me which sadly I still agree with I generally don't understand why anybody wants to do with me but they do the main reason why I wanted to take a break because of my disappointment in the team on Eddsworld
I don't dislike them but there's certain attributes about the team that I'm not a big fan of me and one of my friends agree that Matt's kind of seems a little greedy now I know especially one of my fans / friends will disagree and you know what she has the right to feel that way I like Matt but he's kind of seeming like he's a little greedy with certain things but that's just me no one's truly perfect I'm not a big fan though so they did the Yootuz thing with tord like the man just wants to be left alone you probably what about the end part 1 and 2 honestly yeah it's kind of the same thing but when it comes to that at least it actually has some married to it because without tord it really would have been the end.
Anyways here's my opinion about the crew the animators no issue with really honestly I like no issue with 90% of the crew the only ones I have an issue with is really just I think I'll have an issue with Matt possibly to be fair I can judge him completely though we truly don't know what's going on behind the scenes and I guess diei because I texted him and he has never responded for like 2 weeks and it really bothers me even though he said he's busy a lot but at this point I just gave up sorry that he doesn't like me or something.
Also another issue I have is Beyond's kind of slowly going downhill like the comedies kind of stretched out and honestly that's all it's more commercialized and it's ever been which that I'm nutshell isn't bad but the marketing is like so forced it's kind of annoying and honestly like Tom's voice actor like makes a kind of worse because it's like it's like such a marketing voice it's kind of sad but you know he's a good voice actor so I can't hate him too much now with all these criticisms towards the crew do I hate Eddsworld no do I need to take a break from them yes it does not help the fact I am still grieving over my father in my mental health is slowly decreased ever since his passing and I worry that I'm going to say something wrong so I should probably take a break.
That doesn't mean I'm completely done with Eddsworld forever though I think I'm forever stuck to it call me edd head addict if you will but I think it's time for me to step down for a little bit I hope you all be okay and understand it it might not be a long break to be honest cuz my attention spans like a nutshell so I don't know I do know one thing I'll never talk any of the Eddsworld members ever again Miuns if they want to talk to me or something which we all know they don't want to. But yeah um its edd day soo yeah im tried so gn

I love you edward

Well, I think I made a mistake by putting Jordan Brookes first in the running order of my (first) Edinburgh Fringe experience. I thought it would be cool. Start the Fringe with the only person who has ever held the title of Edinburgh Fringe Festival Champion (they've changed the name of the Perrier so often, I'm just going to call it Champion as a name that's standard across eras) for more than a year. That's fun. And I very much like all his NextUp shows (I think there are four and I recommend all of them, but especially Bleed and Body of Work, both of which are also on YouTube for free), so it's a safe bet.
Unfortunately, he has set the bar way too high. I came away thinking... is there any chance all Edinburgh shows are that much better if you see them in person than on a recording? And I'm sure that helps, but that can't be the main reason why tonight was so good. I'm pretty sure tonight was amazing because Jordan Brookes has written an incredible show that no one else can live up to.
I mean, it does help that this was a rare case of me seeing a show in person. I think I might get clowning now! This wasn't a clown show or anything - I don't think, certainly more laughs came from things he said than things he did - but he did a lot of throwing his body all over the place in ways that made me laugh tonight, and that I know would not make me laugh on a recording. I've said for ages that I know my inability to "get" clowning may just be down to me watching most comedy on recordings, maybe it's only funny in the room. But to be honest, when I said that, I didn't really believe it. I really thought it was just a weird thing I don't understand. However, it turns out that people doing absurd things with their bodies is actually very funny, if they're right in front of you. Who knew? (Lots of people knew.)
Oh I've been here one evening and have already been able to play comedian spotting! I am very, very bad at recognizing faces, so I'm not going to be great at that game throughout the week. But in his show, at one point Jordan Brookes was reading a list of made-up names, and he said "Edward Hare", and I thought, "Isn't Eddy Hare one of the guys in Crizards?" Later on some people came out to do background dancing during the show, and it was really funny, but I kept being distracted by thinking "Is the guy on the right that guy from Crizards, or do I just think that because I heard his name earlier?" At the end of the show, the backup dancers were outside giving out flyers to their own shows, and the guy I recognized gave me one that confirmed he was Eddy Hare from Crizards, so score one against my face blindness there.
More significantly, throughout the show, I kept seeing this one guy in the audience and thinking "Is that Jin Hao Li or am I a racist?" I'm pleased to say that after the show, I saw a woman go up to him, I heard her call him "Jin" and tell him she was a fan of his comedy. Score two points against my face blindness in one night! I've seen one Fringe show ever, but I've already watched one comedy show while sharing the audience with another comedian - one I like enough to have booked his show later in the week. That's what festivals are for (according to my previous experience of festivals, which are folk music festivals where I'll frequently see a show with one musician on stage and one in the audience, then at the next show the second musician will be on stage and the first in the audience).
Seriously though, Brookes was amazing. We walked by him on the way out, the guy in front of me told him "That was the best show I've ever seen at the Fringe." The guy who said that had the look of someone who's probably seen a lot of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe before. And I thought... it's the best show I've ever seen at the Fringe too! I know I've only seen one, but I feel like that would be true even if I'd been coming for years! It's too high a bar!
Anyway I then went for a walk through the Royal Mile and surrounding area at night, and I don't know nearly enough words to describe how incredible that was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I spent so much time in the run-up to this trip reminding myself that not everything will be as cool as it looks on the internet, real life is mundane everywhere. To try to lower my expectations so I wouldn't be disappointed. What I hadn't prepared for was the possibility that it really would be this beautiful.

Redesigning/Reimagining Hazbin's Characters-1 (Charlie)
I tried y'all, I really did, but I didn't have much to work with. Sorry about the cut off, the shoes did not go as planned.
So- How'd I do? Tell me your thoughts!
(I'll go in depth under the cut)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, so, where to begin..
Well, first, I'll start by stating the obvious.
I don't like Charlie's design. If you like it, fair enough, but it's just not working for me.
There's thr usual problem of- you guessed it- Too. Much. Red.
Tumblr media
Red eyes, red background, red details, red clothing, red cheeks, red Bang style, red under sleeves (even though the shirt is supposedly White when you look at the chest area, but then you see around her wrist and it's a dark red for no reason. I'm willing to bet that the animators just forgot which color goes where because the color palette is just red, pink, white, and black. Over and over again.
Next: I get that she's supposed to be bubbly, and happy-go-lucky, all that stuff. But to be honest, I feel like it would be more interesting if she actually wasn't that nice.
I feel like one thing that would be fascinating is the idea that she wants to help people, but she's out of touch. She's one of the most powerful things in Hell after all. She doesn't understand the point of the lower class People. Plus, she's never been out of hell, she doesn't know what Earth is like, or what heaven is like.
I feel like a version of her where she is trying to do good, but is ruthless or harsh in the way she does it, could both be entertaining- and provide character devolopement as she learns how nuanced proper care is.
Also, if she's the second / third most powerful thing in hell, she shouldn't be scared of Alastor. I don't mean that he can't be in the series or anything, I feel like there would still be plenty of uses for him. But with her being a high class royal, and as powerful as she is, she shouldn't need to rely on him for his power or his money for that matter.
I understand the idea that maybe Lucifer Cut Her Off from funding because he basically disowned her or whatever, so maybe funding could be an issue, but even so, she should not be afraid of Alastor.
I like the idea that she intimidated people into going into her hotel so she could "fix" them, not realizing that the fear of her wrath is the only thing keeping people there.
Or maybe the whole hotel thing could be an act of defiance against her father fitting, as "history repeats itself" (referencing Lucifer's defiance of God in biblical lore)
Perhaps she does good things, but isn't all that nice to begin with. But she attempts to be friendly and relatable without understanding how to ACTUALLY relate to or approach others.
How does all of this tie into my design of her?
A few things:
1. Viv said at some point that Charlie was meant to look like a porcelain doll, which... She doesn't look like at all. (I do like her new ponytail. But other than that I don't like the design.)
To me, she just looks like Ellen DeGeneres with long hair and clown makeup.
Tumblr media
Don't believe me? Look:
Tumblr media
So, I made her more doll-like. But it wasn't enough. It was too simple.
Then, it hit me: in a lot of movies with demons or ghosts, oftentimes a doll gets possessed by said demon/ghost.
I'm not even afraid of dolls personally, but I know a lot of people who are
Tumblr media
So What if, Charlie did the same? Maybe her true form is something really scary, so in an attempt to come across as more approachable, she has some sort of doll-like shell? (But, unbeknownst to her, most people are very afraid of dolls. So it does very little to actually help. I think that's some decent comedy potential.
Plus, imagine her having stiff or janky movements, like she doesn't actually fit that well in her body.
It's all appearances
2. The horns.
I actually kind of liked her weird demonic form, at least I liked the horns and the moving hair, but since I decided not to give her a crown, I gave her those weird 4 horns with decorative string tied between them, as a way to make it appear *similar* to a crown. Plus as a reference to the whole 'demonic' thing
I kind of used Sofia from "Harmony and Horror" as a reference. (Btw, great analogue horror series on YouTube, highly recommend it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. I did make Charlie's hair a bit darker, but just a little. That was in reference to part of Lucifer's lore, which said that when he fell from heaven, not only did his feathery angel wings burn away into bat wings, but his once golden hair burned into a dark red. So I decided that for Charlie, her hair is darker, but since she's trying to do good, it turns lighter.
But yeah, I'm honestly not sure about her outfit, I'm probably going to experiment with that in the future. But overall I'm okay with how this turned out.
It took me a few times, as you can see here:

LOOKING FOR ATTACK ON TITAN LITERATE-ADVANCE LITERATE RP PARTNERS [OCs welcomed]
I'm Kri, in my early 20s, in the CET (GMT+1) timezone, literate to advance literate, 1500~ keystrokes, 300~ words, third person perspective, past tense, only use Discord and absolutely love to dive in details and characters' psychology. I'm an enthusiastic and hyper writer who might annoy you with headcanons, plot-relatable clips, ideas and memes so I'm not for the weak hearts ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
We might be a good match if:
You're around my age or older (20+ y.o.).
You are not interested in smut-centered roleplays. I'm okay as long as the smut isn't more than a 70/3O plot to smut ratio.
You're active: I don't expect fast replies but I'd appreciate if you can at least send one/two replies every two/three days. Of course, I completely understand if you'll be busy, just tell me in advance.
You can write multiple characters and multiple couples: my style of writing evolves around many characters, since it's a nice way to insert drama and chaos. We'll have our main characters in a main couple, but I also like to include a secondary couple or more. It can be considered as doubling, if you'd like, but maybe it's closer to mumu, since I prefer the ships to be written in the same story rather than having a complete different rp.
You like to mix different genres: romance is a must for me; it will always be there either as the main plot or subplot, but I also love to include many other genres, such as action, thriller, psychological, drama, fluff, angst, gore, fantasy, even comedy.
You're okay with mature and dark themes (dead dove: do not eat): I'm not going to write sugar coated stories, I like to write and explore many themes and they include possibly disturbing ones. I don't want to traumatize anyone, so, if you want to write with me, be prepared. I do not have triggers, although my only objections are adult x minor ships and incest. You may talk with me about your triggers and I'll gladly respect them.
You are open to both canonverse and AUs: I personally prefer AUs (alternative universes), since I believe they allow more freedom and creativity. Examples could be medieval, royalty, knights, monsters, ghosts, gangsters, professional hitmen, mafia, car racers.
You can write multiple rps: we all know how hard it is to find the right people with whom we enjoy writing, so I'd be very down to write multiple stories with you if we truly click and get along well. I like to make friends out of my partners, so we can write a lot and to our hearts' content.
You'll match my energy and don't mind OOC (out of character) chatting: like I said earlier, I get very excited and will most likely send you random stuff related to the story for fun and I love it when people can match my energy and spam me with content. It helps me keep my interest up and also gets me emotionally attached to our story. Moreover, I would really appreciate if you could be honest with me. I wish for both of us to enjoy the story we are writing so if you lost interest, if you want to change/drop it, please let me know instead of ghosting me.
Ships I'm interested writing
Only mxf ships. In bold are the characters I'll write. If both are in bold, it means I can write either of them. ♡ = prefered (but I like them all).
Ships as main couple:
Pieck Finger x Jean Kirstein/Kirschtein
Pieck Finger x Levi Ackerman (I know it's not a common ship, but I'm kinda curious about them 'cause, you know, they almost think alike, they both care deeply for their comrades, she is tactic smart, he is action-oriented, and they are both shorties lol. So if you'd like, we can try)
Pieck Finger x Zeke Yeager (also as side couple)
Pieck Finger x male Hange/Hanji Zoe
♡ Nanaba x Mike Zacharias (also as side couple)
♡ f!OC x Levi Ackerman
f!OC x Jean Kirstein
♡ f!OC x Mike Zacharias
♡ f!OC x Furlan Church (also as side couple)
Ships as side couple:
Erwin Smith x f!OC
Kenny Ackerman x f!OC
Zeke Yeager x f!OC
Eren Yeager x f!OC
Mikasa Ackerman x Eren Yeager
Mikasa Ackerman x Jean Kirstein
Reiner Braun x f!OC
Reiner Braun x Historia
Reiner Braun x Annie Leonart
Bertholdt Hoover x f!OC
Bertholdt Hoover x Annie Leonart
Porco Galliard x f!OC
Porco Galliard x Pieck Finger
Nile Dock x Marie / f!OC
Petra x Oruo
Please keep in mind I do want my main character to be a female. My secondary and side characters can be of any gender. I'm open to any ship if you want to write an OC. Those listed are the ones I'm most confident writing, anyway you just need to ask. I'll put as much effort in the side/secondary couple as the main couple so I'm not going to cast your ship aside because I love including many characters and see different dynamics. And I just recently found out this thing is called mumu (multi-muse) lol.
Ok, I'll stop here and thank you for reading this long post! If you're interested feel free to dm me, if you've got any questions I'll gladly enlight you. I look forward to meet you! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧

always wanted to make one of those 'day in the life' posts so here u go!
TW/CW: Tattoo needles, mild blood/mentioning of blood
ima be honest with you, sometimes those 'day in the life' reels on tiktok n junk annoy the piss out of me because they seem so disingenuous, but that's honest to god probably just my executive dysfunction being salty because there's no way in HELL i'm gonna be on some 'grind' where i'm getting up at 6 am to make smoothies and do a workout before i have to go to actual work, i can't with that and i struggle to fathom anyone else doing that consistently LMAO (but i know there are and y'all are a different breed, i wouldn't be able to do it LOL)
like i literally get up anywhere between 30-10 minutes before i gotta catch the bus to go to work-

(understand that i can only get away with doing this because the bus stop is LITERALLY RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY HOUSE LMAOOO i could also just as easily walk , work is about 15-20 minutes away, but like... i don't wanna when i could just sleep in for another 15-20 minutes LOL)
Tumblr media
most of my mornings consist of battling with myself to get out of bed until the last possible minute and then hoping the bus isn't early so i don't miss it on account of my own executive dysfunction, paired with timmy's because i'm a canadian hoser, buds.
i'm actually pretty hyped though for that apartment move at the start of april because as soon as we've moved, we'll be even CLOSER to my work to the point i won't even have to catch the bus anymore, you can literally see the new place out my work window. watch me find ways to still be late for work LMAO
anyways. i got off kinda easy today because NORMALLY i have to get up earlier as most of the time my appointments start at 1 PM, but I only had one appointment today and we had booked it for 3 so I got to sleep in a bit longer <3 This was the design I had made up for them (a sternum piece):
Tumblr media
but then it turned out i had completely neglected the one change they wanted, which was to make the middle flower a lotus flower. thank god for my ipad, having the ability to change up designs on the go was half the reason I bought it ~
Tumblr media
easy fix uwu
as for the setup, my tattoo setup is pretty simple, the machine isn't actually ready to go yet but i usually set that up after the stencil is applied to give the stencil time to sit and dry (and i don't like having nothing to do while i wait):
Tumblr media
(the actual machine once it's wrapped):
Tumblr media
it was a full kitchen in the shop today meaning me, my boss, and my two other coworkers who work in the open area were all working and having a good time. one of my other coworkers wasn't in today but they work in a separate private room so the main area itself was full. sometimes i'll come in and i can tell who was in first based on what's playing on the TV. if it's documentaries or reruns of old comedy shows (like the Office) I know it's my boss, if it's reality TV then I know it's L, and if it's music from Spotify then it's usually my other coworker S.
It was S today :' )
Tumblr media
here's the actual stencil on the skin! my client is an old pal who i've tattooed a couple times and was thankfully okay with me taking pics and posting these ~ (haha, no female presenting nipples here, tumblr!)
Tumblr media
as you can probably see I had to take a marker to the tail and redraw it so it would go around the belly button, originally the stencil went right thru it and wouldn't have looked good
but guess what? didn't matter anyways because the fucking stencil wouLDN'T FUCKING STICK. like, as soon as I started working on it, I realized it was gonna be one of those stencils, the kind that wipe away INSTANTLY. I think it was a combination of just the placement (backs and sternums don't tend to hold as well) as well as her skin type (not all skin types hold onto stencils and ink equally) and the fact that it was hotter in the shop than it usually is which amounted to a bit of sweat (esp in the belly area where things tend to be a lot warmer) which resulted in the stencil not holding in the slightest. y'all it was STRESSFUL and even after I tried to re-apply the stencil again as best as I could (with the tattoo already in progress and the old stencil pretty much gone) it STILL wouldn't hold, so I essentially had to bloodline the whole thing (i.e. line it in so lightly and quickly just to get SOMETHING visible in there after the stencil disappeared. half the lines weren't even genuine lines, just the tiniest faintest impressions that mostly consisted of blood, but still better than nothing).
eventually my coworkers had all clocked out for the day so i was the last one standing, meaning I got control over the Spotify >:D
Tumblr media
(and played pretty much the exact same music my coworker would have because we have the exact same tastes in music lmao)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so this is where i had to re-stencil because the original stencil i had put on was wiping away like crazy, but then the second stencil ended up being just as shitty. like you can see where i had to put the lines in 'good enough' near the top because even the shoddy stencil redo was GONE as i was working on it, and it created this sort of cyclical problem where i couldn't just not wipe while i worked because that would result in there being ink anywhere so i couldn't see what i was doing... but then i would wipe to clean it up and poof stencil gone. it was a nightmare and stressed me out but big thanks to my client for understanding and trusting the process <3
because even tattoos are allowed to have an ugly stage before they look good ~
Tumblr media
all in all i'm pretty happy with how it came out in the end, the process definitely didn't go as smoothly as i had initially hoped and i would have liked to spend more time on the actual lining process in the beginning, but i had to rush that shit. thankfully as soon as that foundation was laid, it gave me time to just go in and tighten up those lines, a lot of this ended up being freehand compared to what i had planned on doing :' )
(the best part is this client has two lil' dermals just an inch or so above the tattoo that the snake's face and tongue line up perfectly with, it's adorable haha)
either way, that was my day at the shop, i was the last one there so it was on me to settle the debit/credit machine, set the alarms and have everything ready for another day tomorrow!
Tumblr media
very appropriate music for the last track of the day lmao and our shop pet, Smaug, poked his head out to say hello!
Tumblr media
for the most part, a good day! aside from that stupid stencil giving me a hard time, it was still pretty chill, came out to be a 3 hour day, I showed up around 2:30, my appointment started at 3 and we were all done by 5:30, left just in time to go pick up some sushi takeout and catch the next bus home <3
Tumblr media
(have I ever shown my face on my Tumblr before??? if not, here's me!)
My job's pretty cool. Still have to deal with a lot of "typical bullshit" esp when it comes to communicating with clients and setting up appointments as well as tattoo-unique bullshit like dealing with squirmers or crappy stencils or not being able to have a social life without people pestering me for free work, but it's the best job I could ever ask for especially in this particular location. The husband and wife duo who run the place are super sweet but have their shit together well, they run a tight ship and it means I don't have anything to worry about besides setting up my appointments and tattooing. It took a lot of fighting over the course of years to finally end up in a comfortable place, and many times I almost gave up, but it was worth it because now I'm in a great place that pays well and I get to do what I love.
But I'm still pretty eager to get home most days lol So I grabbed my sushi, caught the bus, and made it home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was about 6:25 when I landed and because of Daylight Savings, it's still very light out. It does so much for my mental health to leave work and have it still be sunny, the ✨ seasonal depression ✨ is gone and all I have to worry about now is ✨ regular depression ✨ And it's gonna be even better once we move to the new place because it's on a ground floor and has windows aplenty, loads of natural light (compared to the gross basement we live in rn).
But until then, this is what I come home to (~ ̄▽ ̄)~
Tumblr media
I will now spend the next 6-8 hours playing FF XIV, watching my shows, and working on Rekindled and Time Gate, pretty much all at the same time or at least jumping between. Usually I'll have something playing on rerun on the TV in the background (so something I don't have to pay attention to, like reruns of the Office or Bob's Burgers or w/e I'm feeling that day) and then I'll be listening to music in my headphones or - if I want to engage with something that isn't a rerun - I'll put on a Youtube video that's easy to listen to and absorb without having to look directly at. Sometimes it's speedrun documentaries, sometimes it's GameGrumps compilations, just depends on what I'm feeling and what shows up in my recommended that day LOL Yes , it might seem 'pointless' to have a show playing in the background while also listening to music, but it's sorta just there as a presence and idk, it brings my ADHD brain comfort lol
If you don't believe me that this is the level of multitasking that I'm at, the other day I made a call to Nintendo Support to help my husband get back into his account and I did it while running dungeons in FF XIV, yaaaaay ADHD! My brain needs constant stimulation to function! ╰(‵□′)╯
(and yes, I'm usually joined by Psuwis - it's Maliseet for 'cat' - who's very needy for my attention as soon as I get home lol)
This is how I spend most of my evenings, and even entire days if I'm not in the shop (and my schedule's pretty flexible, sometimes I'm at the shop 5 days a week, other times I might only work 2 or 3 days, it just depends on how busy my bookings are). My husband is actually probably just getting off work rn so he'll likely be home by the time I'm wrapping up this post lmao
Tumblr media
Supper!
Tumblr media
I actually worked on Rekindled pretty much all day yesterday, so now the episode's almost done already, it's coming along nicely! I'm hoping to have it done tonight or tomorrow so that I can have it ready for Saturday when I'm away on my trip (and maybe get a headstart on Ep 12 so that we can have a new episode next weekend as well during my apartment move!)
Tumblr media
Anyone in my follows play FF XIV? Currently working on my Astrologian, it's pretty fun! You can find me (Pym Thras'rala) in Hyperion if you ever wanna party up sometime!
Tumblr media
That's pretty much it! Not really anything super crazy or exciting to show, my life's pretty routine and that's how I like it. A lot of my social life is online nowadays but I do make time to go out and hang out with IRL pals as well. If this were done on a Friday most of what I'd be doing is hanging out down at the bar with pals LMAO
So yeah! hope you enjoyed this lil' self-indulgent "talk about myself for 20 minutes" post ( ̄︶ ̄)↗ If anything I hope it offers some kind of solidarity to the other pals out there who need 27390572309 forms of stimulation to get through the day LMAO
(also not recommending anyone live the way i do, my back hurts, my sleep schedule is fucked and my brain is fried(*゜ー゜*)let's all hold each other accountable and remember to check our postures, stand up and stretch every hour, and stay hydrated <3 ).

the last of us 1x06: kin
surprisingly don't think i have a ton to say about this ep of the last of us but i feel like i should continue posting for posterity at this point lol. (eta: i said that, then started writing my thoughts, and wrote a gazillion words anyway.)
side note: any canadians watching on crave? isn't it fucking terrible. trash service
anyway: 1x06!
continuing to enjoy joel and ellie a lot. the further we get into the show i think the more they've come into the roles and evolved into their own versions of the characters, which is fine. good even. i think bella ramsey and pedro pascal have very fun chemistry together, and i think bella carries the comedy beats really well, which means i've been enjoying seeing more and more of those. i also really like those scenes because they feel familiar without being complete retreads of the game dialogue (which inherently invites me to make comparisons on delivery, etc)
so this joel is much more openly vulnerable. i think this change works to go with what we've seen in the show so far and places where the show is presumably going. and, i'll be honest, i find show joel a much more likable character. 🤷🏼‍♀️
the "not my daughter" scene hit differently... tbh i think it hit less, but not really through any fault of the show's, if that makes sense. it's just one where beat by beat i know the words as delivered by troy and ashley and my brain is super imposing them
loved the opening with the Indigenous couple, they were so funny, and the idea of florence seeing joel puffed up like an angry bird and identifying zero threat and making him soup lmfaoooooo hkghlkg. honestly w game joel i don't think that would work, lol, but w show joel it did. such a funny way to use the map easter egg, and the "there are firefly people?" followed by the couple laughing at their own joke killed me lol
also loved ellie's indignation about how they probably don't know anything because they're "a thousand" and they don't even know the fireflies, who are probably a total nonentity outside select QZs. extreme kid energy. they haven't even HEARD of paw patrol can you believe it. what do they know. also, congrats to them escaping joel and ellie mostly unscathed... minus a rabbit. (rude, ellie.)
show maria was great idc. imo game maria is not much of a character, so the show had plenty of room to expand, and i liked how they did it. i see some people reacting badly to her skepticism of joel and forgiveness of tommy, but we also don't really know what exactly she's been told by tommy. maria being pregnant is also a more solid reason for why tommy can't take ellie than we got in the game.
i can't really evaluate tommy or maria as characters without factoring in part 2 and at this point there's enough difference that who knows where the show will go with tommy and maria in s2, so, it's all kinda fair game imo
the university scene felt a bit rushed but i guess there really isn't that much to do there when you're not rearranging dumpsters and killing infected. it was the first time the show felt notably rushed to me, and i suspect that feeling will get worse in the back third of the show. ah well.
joel's injury and the fight felt anticlimatic compared to the big action set piece of the game, BUT i think it worked much better in context (joel's explicit fears in this ep becoming manifest), and also, game joel's injury is sooooooooooo ludicrous and video game it just wouldn't work on tv lmao. i kind of wish we'd seen ellie land any of her shots on those guys, but i have my theories as to why we didn't. tbd
misc other thoughts:
diva cup scene... excellent. was worried about those musty tampons.
SALLY FUCKIN' RIDE lmaoooooo ellie. u lesbian. ilu
like everyone i was beyonce.gif DINA?!?!?!? in the cafeteria scene. 100% that was dina, there's no way it wasn't. it might not be the final cast actress (i can see them not wanting to cast a major role so far in advance for a cameo, and they have a time skip to justify any appearance changes), but as a character that was surely meant to be dina. ellie that's ur WOMAN
we're 10000% getting some other cameos in the finale. i'm ready 👀👀👀👀👀
lastly: can't wait for this weekend's episode. the one i've most anticipated. left behind DLC my beloved...

Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64)
First time?: Yes.
CBFD has been on my backlog for like ten years and a couple days ago I was like "fuck it. Why not now?"
I knew certain things about the game already, like the blood, poop, and swearing. I also knew how the game ended, though that honestly just made me more interested to play it to see how that came about.
First impressions, I'll be honest, weren't good. The controls took a while to get used to. They weren't as tight as something like Super Mario 64, nor do you have quite as many ways to manipulate your momentum as something like Banjo-Kazooie. It feels weighty and slippery, and fall damage seems to happen at much shorter heights than you'd think. It doesn't help that your main attack, the frying pan, is fairly slow with less range than it looks.
Fortunately, the game isn't really about the platforming so much. There's platforming segments, but really the game feels more like a linear puzzle-adventure that happens to use platforming mechanics simply as your means of navigating around the world. Instead of the progression being locked behind collectibles like some other platformers of the time, I would say Conker is a more story-driven platformer. Events that happen in the game's plot are the main thing that drive progression.
The game's tone and humor are the main selling points of the game, and as the M-rating suggests, there's a lot of toilet humor, black comedy, and swearing. Often, there'd be a joke that felt too mean-spirited to laugh at, or something particularly cruel that you had to do to progress. Also, the gross-out humor got to be a little much (there are TWO whole levels made of poop). At the same time, the dialogue is almost entirely improv, and there were a few moments that I thought were actually funny.
The visuals and soundtrack are both gorgeous. Given that this was one of the latest N64 games, Rare had gotten quite good at making levels look detailed and aesthetically pleasing. And the soundtrack by Robin Beanland is fantastic; the overworld theme is infectious and I was actually taken aback by how beautiful the Uga Buga theme was and how hard Rock Solid goes.
Final thoughts before going into spoilers: I think the game really won me over by the end and I think the last three or four chapters are were the game is at its strongest. It's definitely an interesting game, and I think even if the subject matter doesn't interest you, it's worth experiencing at least once. Fortunately, the game is so story-driven that you could get 90% of the experience from a cutscene compilation on YouTube (95% if you watch a Let's Play).
Spoilers below the cut.
The last three levels are what sold me on the game, and where I feel like the game used its Mature rating to something actually mature.
The Count Batula level is dripping with spooky atmosphere, the zombies are actually genuinely scary to fight (well, at first. Once you get to the point where you don't actually have to kill them and you realize you can always outrun them…).
The War level is also genuinely unsettling, in a very different way. The whole thing is an homage to Saving Private Ryan, but played mostly straight, showing the horrors of war in the context of cute fuzzy animals. The difficulty of this chapter, frustrating as it can be, just helps sell the idea of fighting for your life behind enemy lines. I finished this chapter right before bed and it actually made me uneasy trying to fall asleep. It's going to stick with me, I think.
Side note; I love Rodent so much. He's adorable and I was so happy when he survived.
And also, gotta talk about the downer ending. For all the asinine things that happen in this game, having Conker lose the one person he cares about most, have the opportunity to bring her back, and getting so caught up in a power trip that he forgets to do so and now has to live with his regret for the rest of his life despite getting everything he's ever wanted. I love a good phyrric victory ending and somehow this goofy game about an alcoholic squirrel sells it for me.
To recap: I went into the game not even sure if I wanted to finish it but came out of the experience really liking it. I'm glad I finally decided to play it. I don't know if I'll play it again.

Quick Thoughts - Mob Psycho 100
This wasn't how I really intended to start this blog, it's not something I planned or even something I was really that desperate to do, but as this blog was created for me to post my analysis and thoughts on the things I watch or read or... consume, and my partner and I just so happened to have finished Mob Psycho 100 - I figured I'd post my thoughts.
This isn't a full analysis. For one I didn't take any notes (something I'm going to make an active habit of doing when I do start my proper analyzing of things - I'm tired of forgetting my points - and I also never really intended to pick apart the series. These are just my thoughts. That being said - I'll go ahead and share them now:
Tumblr media
(Image from IMBD.Com https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5897304/)
Why'd I watch it:
I started watching Mob Psycho 100 because my partner wanted to watch it. It's not a series I'd have picked out for myself. I've been semi-aware of it since the days where One Punch Man was the big thing on the anime block, and vaguely knew a similarly-toned thing by the same creator (at this point I had no idea it was a webcomic) existed, but it wasn't grabbing my interest. No particular reason, it simply didn't grab me.
If we fast forward toward the later part of 2022, my partner's other partner got access to the Funimation streaming service and shared it with us. This provided us a chance we hadn't had in a while - the ability to watch fresh anime on demand.
I won't go into the story of why or how or when, but for a few years, our consumption of fresh anime content had been shrinking. We were mostly re-watching older shows, occasionally dipping our toes into something new-ish if we could get it on blu-ray or DVD. Sometimes we'd watch a Netflix series like Aggretsuko but our viewing habits had really dried up. There's lots of reasons why - none of them were that we didn't like anime anymore, and none of them are worth going into. To be honest, I've spent too long on this part already. Let's just skip to the part where I say that my partner asked me if I'd like to watch Mob Psycho with her.
(And yes - if you've kept a track of the dates and you're thinking:
"Hmmm, wait a minute... later 2022, a new interest in Mob Psycho... THAT MUST MEAN--"
The timing wasn't coincidental, but I don't think that was the only reason my partner wanted to watch the show. Even if it was, who cares? People should watch things because they want to watch them for whatever reason!)
Anyway - The series is described as being an "Action Comedy Supernatural" series by Wikipedia, and is also what I like to call "Shounen-Ajacent" - It might not strictly be a shounen anime, but it's sitting close enough to the crowd that fans of one will likely have some degree of interest with the other. My partner is a shounen fan, and so, with the series being up her ally, she wanted me to come along and experience it with her.
I will admit, I was my usual grouchy self about it to start with - Anyone who knows me will tell you, and I must admit, that trying to get me to try something new I haven't picked out myself is like pulling teeth. It's a habit I'm trying to break.
Now that we've discussed why I watched it, we can talk about what I thought.

STORY:
I've seen Mob Psycho called a deconstruction of the typical "super powered school kid" anime, and I think that's an excellent way of putting it. I won't dwell too much on this, because - again, I didn't prepare myself for a full analysis of the show - but it's worth noting that this goofy, funny, and for the most part, pretty upbeat series is a "deconstruction". The word tends to get thrown around as a substitute for "edgy and violent" in a lot of circles, so it's good to remember that, no - "deconstruction" just means taking apart a typical premise and examining it in other ways.
With that being said - Mob Psycho has a solidly founded story , which is focused on the personal journeys of it's characters. Although there are antagonistic forces, and the plot does deal with them in impressively paced arcs, there's no real "quest" that runs through the show. The heroes are not on a journey to bring down an evil empire (although that does, more or less, wind up happening). Indeed, oftentimes the series feels like a slice-of-life style show, with the twist that the character(s) we're following happen to have some pretty atypical lives. There's episodes about typical school issues, like graduation or finding the kind of club activity that suits you mixed in with some monster-of-the-week style plots and Reigan shenanigans.
Neatly slotted in between these "daily lives of middle school psychic boys" style episodes are a few arcs, consisting of batches of episodes where the tone shifts - most often to be somewhat more in-line with a typical shounen style anime - and this is where the big fights and visually stunning action sequences fit in. There's a lot of hype around these, and it's very well justified. The loose style of the animation looks incredible in such fluid motion, and - although the style of fighting isn't any different from most "battle manga" style series with lots of explosions, energy auras, mixed in with some "special techniques" that ultimately boil down to "energy attack" or "super powered punch" - it doesn't feel repetitive because the characters react and engage with the fight in less conventional ways; oftentimes being well aware of the expected outcome and defying or subverting it. Since our main character is already the strongest psychic around, a lot of the fun comes from watching him be bombarded by a DBZ Style villain, complete with named techniques and appropriate ranting, only for him to shrug off the attack and counter with a blank expression and minimal effort.
This approach will likely not be a surprise to you if you have seen any of One Punch Man. It's obvious the author (who I believe goes by "One") likes this kind of subversion. It's carried out well, and manages to keep most action oriented scenes entertaining. There are a few more standard fights - characters going back and forth, making actual efforts - sprinkled in here and there for characters that aren't Mob as well.
While the action and big fights are well done, they're solidly not the focus of the story, and probably my favorite thing about the series overall though is how consistent it remains throughout. See, it's not uncommon in series, especially those with multiple seasons, to change as they go on, and in the process, "lose" a small part of their early identity. Stories are supposed to progress, of course, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about how, for many different reasons, the series is markedly different at the start compared to the end. Things like Early Installment Weirdness or a shift in the setting. Maybe it's injecting more fight scenes, or maybe it's a setting that just vanishes from the plot, or maybe the characters act a little different (and not in the "proper character development" kind of way, I mean in the "the writers decided they wished they'd made things this way from the start" kind of way)
Mob Psycho doesn't do that. The story is solidly the same story - essentially a wacky "growing up" adventure - all the way through. While the status quo does change, it does so very naturally, and as a result of the characters actions. It's very careful to balance it's tone, so the action doesn't overshadow the comedy and the comedy doesn't overshadow the drama. It's all very well used, following eye-catchingly gorgeous fights up with breather episodes, and mixing in closer examination of characters gradually as it goes.
Honestly, I think it would have been very easy for the anime to tip in the direction of more standard shounen fare. As it got more popular, I wouldn't have been surprised if things boiled down to the standard "series of wacky episodes at the start -> transition into a super dramatic fight arc -> goofy resolution as credits role -> escalate the threat next season" formula many anime wind up taking. This approach surely would have stagnated its characters into their well defined roles, and inadvertently prevented any meaningful growth, but it doesn't do that. Although there's a fair bit of "serial escalation" from the first to the second season, especially in terms of antagonists, the third season dials it back to focus on the individual characters, introducing new conflicts not through a bigger bad, but by capitalizing on previously established personal arcs and goals.
At this point, any further story discussion is going to be about the characters anyway, so I might as well dive into that section.

CHARACTERS:
There's definitely more to say about the story, but this is already longer than I planned it to be (good lord, if this is a quick take, what the hell is it going to look like when i do a full analysis?), I'll say that for the most part, baring a few hiccups here and there, the story is a solid one. A story is nothing without it's characters anyway, so I'm going to talk about them next.
This show has a lot of characters. Like a lot. While it's roster isn't as extensive as some of the longer running Shounen like Bleach or One Piece, it's still got quite a big cast, all the more notable because the show does go out of its way to check in on many of them, even after they've finished up their roles in the plot.
I'm not going to break them down one by one - again, this analysis has gone on for way too long already, and I'I'm not going to break them down one by one - again, this analysis has gone on for way too long already, and I probably wouldn't do a full character breakdown even if I was. There's simply too many of them.
I will say I think Mob/Shigeo is a great lead - Unlike a lot of anime characters, who despite being in school, will act and be treated more-or-less as though they were adults - he very much acts his age, regardless of his almost infinite powers. The recurrent theme of the series - that what makes you special doesn't make you better than others, nor does it necessarily make your life easier - is nicely encapsulated within Mob. All the telekinesis in the world won't help him overcome his natural social anxiety, won't help him talk to the girl he likes, and won't help him become "popular". (Although, he winds up being pretty popular anyway without realizing).
This is balanced well by Reigan - A character who's almost Mob's exact opposite in terms of character traits. He's a fully grown adult, who's close to 30 (a rarity in anime), he's naturally confident and charismatic, and he more-or-less can achieve just about everything Mob wants to, but can't - but he lacks not only any kind of supernatural power, but any kind of real "talent". He's not a genius, or a super athlete, or wise beyond what you'd expect of someone of his age. Beyond being a good con-artist, he's supremely "normal"
Better analysts than me have gone into deeper details about how these two characters play off each other well, learning and growing from each other, becoming better people because of the other, but also are not reliant on each other. The two characters are walking individual paths that happen to be side by side. It's entirely possible to split them up and continue to have them develop - and the show does in fact do this for a time, providing some really interesting insight, especially to Reigan.
As I mentioned, there are a lot of other characters, most of whom feel like a very lighthearted takes on common tropes or characters. There's Ritsu, Mob's brother and the shows version of the "super talented student council guy". Dimple, the show's frequent comic relief/semi-sorta-reformed-but-not-really evil spirit (who has an incredible arc come right out of nowhere in the third season). Teruki, who in any other anime would be a Vegeta/Sasuke/Kaiba style rival, but this series quickly turns into a kind of friendly foil for both Mob and Ritsu. Tome, who I'm pretty sure is a gentle parody of Haruhi Suzumiya with her interest in telepathy and aliens and her slack-off club members. Serizawa, the ex-villain who becomes another apprentice to Reigan and parallels Mob in many ways. The Body Improvement Club members, the most wholesome bodybuilders you ever met. The evil organization Claw, it's evil leader, his rebellious son, it's elite Quirky Miniboss Squad, it's 7th Division and their Quirky Miniboss Squad. The other Psychic KIds, who're really a bunch of useless wimps, but none-the-less try as hard as they can. The list goes on and on. Like I said. There are a lot.
Which is where I probably have to confess that - AND THIS IS SIMPLY ME PERSONALLY (for the love of the gods, please don't tear out my throat) - I didn't really have a favorite, or get overly attached to any of these characters. None of them are bad, per se, they're all doubtless fun to watch, but none of them really grab me in such a way that I'd miss them if the show wrote them out.
This is where my experience of the series differs from a lot of others, in that I don't feel super strongly about how amazing these characters are. Mob and Reigan are fantastic, but neither of them inspires the typical fan response of "HE MUST BE PROTECTED" (for Mob) or "OMG MARRY ME BABYGIRL!" (for Reigan) in me. It's really a "me" thing, I certainly see why people do find these characters very compelling, especially as I imagine a lot of people really can relate to that awkwardness that Mob endures. It might just be that, even though my own school experience had a few similarities, I don't feel quite so invested in the life of someone like Mob. Again, he's not a bad character, he's written very well, I personally just don't connect with him, or feel especially compelled by his story.
I do relate to Reigan a bit though. As a nearly 30 year old guy, who often feels like he's somehow gotten himself over his head despite appearing somewhat successful, there were a couple of times I found myself thinking "same dude, same." He's probably my favorite character overall. It helps that he's hilarious and steals every scene he's in.

OVERALL:
Like I said at the start, I probably wouldn't have picked this series to watch on my own. It's one of those ones where, if my Partner hadn't asked, I'd have never watched a single episode. That being said, I'm absolutely glad I did watch it. Not only did it allow me to experience all the great points I mentioned above, but I'm positive in years to come, this series will be regarded as one of the greats, getting referenced and parodied in many works to come. It's always good to be aware of the stuff that becomes ingrained into the collective pop-culture memory, because it'll enhance your experience.
I want to rate the series a:
7/10
Overall, with my own personal enjoyment being closer to a:
6.5/10
Just because I didn't as invested in it as others. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it though!
As I said, in years to come, I'm quite positive that Mob Psycho 100 will absolutely be regarded as one of those "cultural touchstones" of the anime community, which means it's worth checking out for that fact alone. Should I revisit the series, I'd be interested to see if I was more invested in the characters the second time around. We'll have to wait and see.
WOW! This really got away from me! I wanted to post my thoughts, but as I wrote, I just couldn't stop! I'm going to be watching an old favorite of mine soon and hope to do a proper analysis. Break down the series and what I think of it, and see if I still love it.
Hopefully these'll be a bit shorter in the future - I think the long stuff should be reserved for my actual analyzing.
Anyway!
That's that!

Radhika Apte is, yet again, amazing. Though, much like Monica, O My Darling and Raat Akeli Hai, I can't really say I enjoyed this movie as a whole.
I do love the premise of the movie. I think where the movie goes wrong, though, is not knowing what exactly what it wants to be. Serious spy movies are obviously plentiful, and even 'comedic' spy movies can be funny if done right (Get Smart; Johnny English) - aka, they go all-in on the comedy. Where this one struggles, though, is that it keeps trying to toe the line between both genres. And that just leads to a lot of things that don't fit, and a lot of random storylines that don't really ever get resolved.
There are scenes that really belong in a funny movie - the 'Rangeela' that plays whenever the character enters the movie, much like that overhead voice in Hera Pheri; the scenes where she's training herself to be a spy (well, mostly just doing James Bond-type montages in the house); Rangeela's many, many get-ups (which are, admittedly, a lot of fun); the scene(s) with the parents, the father who can't see and the mother who apparently randomly can't remember things, including who her husband is.
But then you've got the opposite extreme - the turncoat (a storyline that shows up out of the blue, unprompted, for a second before never being a thing again); the death of ALL of their other agents (despite this killer not having apparently killed any guys before); her two real fight scenes (on the street; in the basement); the obvious backdrop of women's rights/empowerment; the typical male character that her husband is played out as.
And like, it's just doesn't mesh together well because you're never sure if this movie is supposed to be funny (if it is, that beginning with *that* intense of a death scene really doesn't fit) or serious (if it is, how do you justify the idea of a secret agent that they're unwilling to give any training to?). And speaking of which - that beginning death scene was probably *too much* - like, showing him going back and forth made me feel sick, and they weren't even really showing much gore/blood (and you only heard the violence, didn't see it). It was just ... a lot.
And then, when all is said and done ... well, no. Before that. The whole thing of everything happens and then, when he's like "this evidence won't stick and I'll be out in four hours" (which is probably very valid), the answer being "everyone else leave and I'll beat him up" - like, what?! I mean, just logistically, what if he'd won? Then he'd be going free, doing the same - probably in another town - and you'd have lost a serial killer. But all the cops and agents just walk away, and she initially even sends all the other women away too (and, if we're being honest - yes, they have numbers, but none of them are killers as he is). I know she wasn't trained again as an agent, but that was a very, very stupid decision.
And, then, the end. Where Rangeela is essentially just like "this cover is over; time for a new mission" and they leave: um, what about her son? That wasn't a cover, that was her son. Sure, she left her husband and that was initially meant to be a cover, but how do you just say "it was a cover" as if she didn't have a son? Like, fine, if she has no attachment or whatever (though, it definitely seems throughout the movie as if she does), but how does he get to make that call? Isn't that exactly what this movie is like speaking out against?
I think a lot can be inferred about people, if we're being honest, by their reactions to her husband and his words/actions. Like, sure they have the 'extreme' version in the villain, but like, the husband here is the typical mindset of person that you usually see: things like "just a housewife," and his getting upset that she's dreaming about being like James Bond and not about him getting a promotion, and his anger about being asked to take his kid to school one day, and his total bullshit about "you went to school so I cheated on you," and his anger at her about talking to a neighbor when the son does something stupid, and his anger when she signs up for the program (and only passively relenting - but not really, given the cheating - when his mom essentially emotionally blackmails him into relenting)... it's just present everywhere. Which, honestly, kudos to the team behind the movie for doing it so well - it's just a mindset that so many people have, or have grown up with, that sometimes they don't even realize it. Him finally figuring it out is very much an extreme, of course (movie), but unfortunately, a lot of people don't figure it out.
But as much as the 'extreme' version in this movie is the actual bad guy (and deservedly so, because that entire thought process is sick and disgusting and needs to be eliminated), this passive person who perpetuates this cycle at home is maybe just as much of a threat. Unfortunately, in the swapping back-and-forth between comedy and serious thriller, the movie sort of bungles this message and loses it amidst everything else. Which is sad, because I think that is a message that really needs to be heard.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
ANIMATION LOVERS!
So. Let's talk about
FINAL SPACE
Specifically, let's talk about Final Space season 4!
.
.
.
.
Synopsis: Final Space is an epic animated sci-fi comedy about a spaceman named Gary who is working off a prison sentence and makes a mysterious new alien friend, Mooncake, that he immediately bonds with.
While it sounds happy and light-hearted, you won't think that way halfway through season 1.
Final Space is in danger of not getting a season 4. Not a lot of people have been watching as of late. So why should you care?
.
Found Family
Final Space has one of the most glaring examples of found family I've seen in a while other than Steven Universe of course. We go from one man in solitary confinement to him having, quite literally, a family that he would die for (barely any are related by blood).
The Animation/Art
The animation in this show is incredible. Actually incredible. You can tell that a lot of time, effort, and money was put into everything.
Tumblr media
The Main Character/Theme
Tumblr media
Gary Goodspeed is the main character. As I said earlier, we meet him while he is spending time in solitary confinement. I won't say why but he was sentenced for 5 years in a space station with only robots to keep him company.
His time alone made him one of the most caring, selfless, and bravest individuals. It's also why he gains new friends (family) quickly. Not to mention he didn't have the best upbringing so I guarantee he will be your favorite character.
Tumblr media
The theme of the show is simple: Loneliness. Many characters are unwillingly forced into situations where they have no one to rely on but themselves. How does being alone change a person? How will they act when their actions drive everyone away? How will they act when they meet the person who made them alone in the first place?
Tumblr media
It Gets Darker After Season 1
And I mean darker. Season 1 is mainly just the introduction. Meeting characters and establishing relationships. The first season was mainly focused on comedy but you will cry on the 6th episode. You have been warned.
While there is a villain in season one, the main villain gets really introduced in the second season. And it's not some corny, comic-relief, easily-defeated bad guy. They're brutal. There's no rhyme or reason for the chaos. That's all I'm gonna say.
Tumblr media
Olan Rogers
Olan Rogers is the creator of Final Space. He also voices the main character, Gary Goodspeed. He's a really sweet guy and he actually interacts with people who watch the show. He incorporates his own experiences into the theme and he's also working on getting LGBTQ+ rep into the show! He's new to this and he's doing a fantastic job so I just really hope he knows how much we love this show and him.
.
I'll be honest here: I'll will literally be devastated if this show gets cancelled. Too many shows are being cancelled (animated AND live-action) and I just need it to stop. I need shows to distract me from real life and they're taking it away.
So I'm fighting. I'm fighting for the chance to escape reality. This isn't the first show I'm advocating for and it damn sure won't be the last.
I'm tagging a lot of fandoms.
P.S. For those who watch The Owl House, the season 3 finale of Final Space airs the same day as The Owl House season 2 premiere (June 12th). It would mean the world to me if you all could show some love for Final Space.
.
Some other shows I'm fighting for:
Prodigal Son (Live action)
Glitch Techs (Animated)

Chortle headlines, anyone?
Tumblr media
This is hilarious to me, because I remember that episode of Question Team. I think it was filmed during Acaster's sort of lost years, between Cold Lasagne and Heckler's Welcome, when he quit social media and almost quit stand-up. He did this round on Question Team that, to be really honest, I didn't even find all that funny (I did enjoy a lot of Question Team, but it could be hit or miss as it changed every round, and I thought James' was a bit of a miss). But James got so excited during it, he kept repeating that he'd stopped enjoying comedy but this was great, it was the most fun he'd had doing comedy in ages. I kept thinking that the obvious assumption is he's saying that for a joke, doing a bit on a panel show, but it he was so committed to it, and it was so accurate to other stuff that Acaster was saying around that time (talking in interviews about being disillusioned with stand-up), that I wondered if he maybe he did actually mean it.
...Apparently he meant it. Enough to base a whole new show on it. Good for him, I guess. I don't intend to watch but I hope everyone involved has a good time.
Tumblr media
Two pieces of great news, I look forward to the release of both these things. If anyone has not yet watched Cunk on Britain/Earth, go fix that immediately.
Tumblr media
The sight of this picture (plus names beside it, since Fern Brady isn't in the picture) is the first thing that has ever, in my entire life, made me even slightly interested in watching a food-based TV show. Not interested enough so I actually will watch it, but still. Someone let me know if Adam Hills starts yelling at DO'D to take a cow apart at any point, and then I'll tune in.
Tumblr media
Frankie mentioned in his latest newsletter that he'd be starting a podcast soon. I got excited about that, because I think The Promethiad is the best thing Frankie Boyle's ever done; I think he works best just on his own, talking into a recording device. So I did experience a very brief split second of disappointment when I saw the promised podcast is not that, it's a chat-based thing. Then I remembered that Susie McCabe is the best, and it can never be bad news if Frankie Boyle and Susie McCabe are going to talk to each other about anything at all and record that conversation. I also like that, as stated in the body of that article, it won't have any format points or anything. Just talking.
I like Christopher MacArthur-Boyd too. I recently watched his special and was slightly disappointed by the first half as I'd read a lot about how funny he was and thought it didn't quite meet expectations, but then the second half was better, and I think if I'd gone in with normal expectations I'd have thought it was great. Also, I think he might be one of those people whom I liked better than his comedy. As in, I didn't absolutely love his stand-up special, but I did really like him, just his general approach to things, so I'd be happy to listen to him talk some more about stuff.
I have already subscribed the podcast, first episode's supposed to be out next week.
Tumblr media
You won't get me this time, Chortle, I will not be fooled again. It happened like four times in 2022-2023 that I'd see something about Jonathan Pie, think "Oh this looks interesting, someone known for being a creative and angry political comedian but I'd never heard of it before, I must look this guy up", then I do and remember it's Andrew Doyle from GB News, and then I forget about it and get interested again the next time I see it. Not this time! Go away!
Tumblr media
I so often hear jokes making fun of "comedian wins major award for show in which said comedian complains about getting canceled". I hear those jokes so often than I should be sick of them by now, I should consider them trite and overdone. But I don't think they can get overdone when the absurdly over-the-top thing they're making fun of keeps unironically happening. Guess we'll have to keep the jokes going for a while longer.
Tumblr media
Hello Edinburgh I am an artist may I have cheap accommodation?
Genuinely, though, this seems like a very good thing. Good for them. Also, I booked my Edinburgh accommodation in November and got pretty lucky to find a place at a fairly reasonable price, compared to the stuff I've read about how overpriced accomodation during the Edinburgh Festival is (not as cheap as the prices quoted in that article, but still, not bad).
There were also a bunch of headlines about Elis James and John Robins doing some new thing that I don't understand, I wish they would go the way of Frankie Boyle and just record themselves talking with no plan.

hi seven hope you're doing well <3
just saw your little tag rant about fics dealing with disabilities and if I'm being honest I don't really know a lot about it but I do kind of understand your point there? Of course I won't be able to relate to this as much as you or other disabled people like you do but I would really like to gain more understanding about it, about disabilities and such experiences in general and fics have always been a good way to open more windows of knowledge for me. which is why I've come to you. to ask you which fics, in your opinion, have dealt with disabilities in a proper, realistic way, to put it in the perspective of your tags?
hope the point got across and i didn't phrase anything the wrong/offending way! if i did I genuinely apologize I really didn't mean it I'm just bad at interactions. but yeah I'm asking for fic recs here, if it's not bother to you? also sorry this got so long heh. <3
Hi, thank you for coming by with a great question! Nothing about it comes off as disrespectful because you're here for information, and I'm happy to help. I'll link the tag post referenced in the ask for context.
Under the cut is an explanation of disability representation and my thoughts. Because I went overboard in my explanation, the fic rec is in a separate post ➡ HERE ⬅
- Disability representation and why it's so, so important -
In order to answer this question, I think it's necessary to put more context to the purpose of what I was trying to say and to help educate more people. As a Deaf person, I have a lot of experience and passion for this sort of issue.
Disability representation in media -- film, theater, books, or in this case, fanfiction -- has been historically misconstrued for years by the entertainment industry (1, 2, 3). Able-bodied people (people who don't have a disability, often known as ableds) both contribute to and encourage ableist beliefs and stereotypes by creating and consuming these pieces of media without a second thought to who these stories are about (x)
25% of the United States population is disabled, and I'm positive that this large percentage can be applied in theory to the rest of the world. Every single group of people, every single country, every single culture has a population of disabled people. There are also disabled people who have more than one marginalized identity (race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, social status, language barrier, or more than one disability!) This overlap of identities acts as a double-whammy of society knocking you down even more within the system. Disabled people also do not have equal rights, despite what the ADA (1990, x) wants you to think.
Representation is so important because we want people to be able to consume media and recognize parts of themselves within the stories, to be able to say, "Hey, that's me!", and to have a more diverse storytelling pool for audiences to consume. The world is diverse, so why shouldn't stories be diverse, too?
Accurate rep is even more important (1, 2). Going off the previous paragraph, we want viewers to recognize stories that are not over-the-top, that are not portrayed by actors who are abled in real life, and that simply do not view disability as a bad thing to be fixed. As an example, I'll point you to some films where hearing actors played Deaf characters and were portrayed poorly, and where Deaf actors cinched a role (Bad: Hush, Shape of Water. Good/Better: West Wing, Children of a Lesser God, CODA). This miscasting also happens to blind characters (In The Dark and Daredevil), and autistic characters (Music). Another good piece is Special on Netflix, a semi-autobiographical comedy about cerebral palsy with the author as the lead role.
- "Which fics, in your opinion, have dealt with disabilities in a proper, realistic way?" -
The main fic rec you're looking for is HERE, but I still wanted to address this question without overshadowing the rec itself.
The rec itself isn't 100% perfect, and there's a notable difference in the number of fics by disabled writers compared to abled writers. This may be because these stories have not been written yet, or are not given enough attention, or the writer has not disclosed their disability as freely as another writer would. If more disabled people were involved in fandom and wished to write, then stories would feel much more authentic and offer unique perspectives when applied to a character's life. Disabled writers, we need you!
I'll be honest; I never bothered to read or seek out these stories myself in the past because the ones I tried to give a chance were consistently inaccurate so I stopped caring. It sucks because it's a big part of my experience and I'd love to see it done right in fic.
The reason for my avoidance and call-out is the constant glorification and inaccuracy of the diagnoses by both writers and fandom. I get it, fics are fictional, but when people try to portray a real-life condition in a misleading way, and that piece of content gets a much larger audience than content created by disabled people, disabled readers feel misunderstood. It leads to sensationalism and the "savior complex" view of disabled bodies as "less-than" unless someone else enters their life; they are only thought of as undeserving of love until someone else "fixes" them or "helps" them.
Again, I am not trying to say that everyone should stop writing disabled characters. I am saying that we need more authenticity in these stories, and especially we need to uplift stories told by disabled people; their experiences, their stories. If an abled writer wants to create a disabled story, they need to consult people who have those disabilities and work closely with them to make sure their characterization is accurate, respectful, and realistic without dehumanizing or glorifying anything. On the other hand, we can't control the audience's response after the work gets published (which is another layer to this issue). I think if we begin at the writer's level, we can do good work in recognizing privileges and marginalized experiences in a way that is not gleaned over or taken directly from a "disability 101" course.
I hope this explanation helped you in some way and that you learned something new!
