Ooh what about a Snow White Spider au where he was instead Raised by the animals of Pandora. Idk how he would have gotten separated from everyone but just love the idea of a Jungle Book, Mowgli situation. Just a little baby feral(even more so here)Eywa blessed Spider. 💕💕
TW - pregnancy, childbirth, death, etc. sorta did that here but she only adopts him when he was 8. so it would be a little different right form the get go, and by get go, I mean right after he was born.
lets say that paz tried to flee when she found out about the suicide mission to attack hometree and wanted nothing to do with it, maybe she finally came to her sense and fleed to eywa, to jake and the few other humans on the na'vi side, hoping for some sort of asylum. maybe she just wanted her son to have a chance. maybe she was just fleeing to flee, self-preservation overriding any sort of thought or logic. whatever the case, she flees out into the forest, hoping, praying, begging whoever will listen to save her child.
eywa listens. maybe for her sake, maybe for the childs, maybe just out of curiosity. but she listens.
she watches Paz struggle to birth her child, screaming "it's too early" all the while. eywa can feel her fear, can tell she's scared and doesn't know what to do. she watches as paz gives her all into it and still teeter on the verge of failure, of killing herself and her child, and assists her, connecting to the women through her roots. paz would think she was tripping, but really it was just eywa, one mother helping another.
when the baby is finally born, which was no easy task, even for the Great Mother herself, paz worries he won't be able to breathe. but eywa already had it handled. spider cries, loud, beautiful cries, drawing the attention of all the flora and fauna in the area. a viperwolf watching the pair from a ridge, not lurking a target, but rather curious of the small thing wrapped in his mother's arms. paz wants to scare it away but finds herself too weak to do so, and then a surge of clam fills her, Eywa telling her it will all be ok.
paz can feel herself dying, some complication or another, she was a high-risk pregnancy to begin with, and she had just delivered early in the middle of the damn forest after running god knows how many miles. while she would rather not die, leaving her premature son alone in these woods, she isn't surprised. instinct makes her want to beg, but as she slumps against the mossy tree trunk she propped herself against, she feels oddly ok with it. again, for the record, does not want to die, but she has this gut feeling her baby will be ok.
she wraps him in her military-issue jacket and holds him for as long as she can. she brushes a finger over his little nose and lets him hold onto her little finger with his entire tiny hand. she prays for her child, despite never having been religious. when she feels herself being on the last few steps of the stairway to heaven, she places spider next to her, so she doesn't risk dropping him.
the las thting she see's is that viperwolf approaching her, calmly, looking back to her cubs half hidden don't he ridge she stood on before. they look each other in the eye, and paz knows, against all rational thought, the way a mother knows, somehow, some way, things will be fine. she lets go, she goes to eywa, leaving her son behind. she was right. eywa was gonna look out for the little one.
~~~
spider was hidden away from the war by viperwolves; they were best inept for handling him so young, so tiny. they hid him in their burrows, amongst their other young, and the whole pack would watch after him. they made sure he was clean and fed, much like Lupa had Romulus and Remus back in old earth tales (an old roman/italian myth, look it up). even as he began to walk and explore, they kept him well away from the na'vi, upon eywa's orders. spider wouldn't be safe there, not yet at least, not till he could hold his own. he wouldn't be accepted, not in a way that would be any good for him. so she would keep him out in the forests, away from anyone who could think of hurting him.
he was raised by all the creatures of the forest how to survive, how to stalk pray and hunt, how to find shelter, how to find clean water. he picked up habits of each creature.
he kept to packs like viperwolves, but hunted alone like thanators. he was closely bonded to the herds of titanothere's that roamed the woods and learn to be a gentle 'giant'.he got his speed and agility from slintsh, watching how they raced through the tree tops with grace, learning to copy them, if even at a fraction of the speed.
once she accepted spider would have to be aware of other na'vi, for his sake, she started connecting to him, not for comfort, but to teach him. she started teaching him language and songs (not of the creatures he considered family, but of the na'vi themselves). she taught him most basic concepts in the form she had taken to appear visible to the child. she told him of his mother, how she was a good women, at least in the end, how she was a good person caught up i bad thing. they talked about what they meant, what spider felt that it meant about her. he didn't know. he wanted to hate her, for his his Mother, for hurting pandora, but also pity, because she was forced, in some ways. he would meet her one day, when he was ready, Eywa knew the day was coming, as he asked more and more questions. that was ok, little bird had to fly the nest one day. even if she hated the idea.
spider was aware of the world out there, was allowed to venture towards it, around 13 or so, but he chose to be cautious. Eywa said there was nothing to fear, not now at least, but he didn't want to approach this unknown world. he did venture closer, stalking up in the trees and watching hunters go about their days, children playing. one day he met kiri, who kept his secret after many desperate pleas. she called him odd, said the way he walked, almost bipedal was strange, and the way he made sounds rather than words more often, or how he didn't know what fire was. spider said that was the way things should be done. she didn't disagree, just smiled at him, copying his actions every now and then.
spider had a lot of little quirks. he tipped and chirped and almost barked, imitating to the best of his ability the sounds of the creatures that raised him. he could walk 'normally' but found it easier to crouch and use his hands. he didn't hunt with a knife or a bow and arrow, instead used primitive stones and teeth, long shards of bone, and ate his foods raw. his skin was rough, not only from the sun and heavy use, but because he caked himself with dirt to make it more durable, avoid sunburn and bugs, and to better blend in. not to mention his naturally primitive way of living; sleeping up in the highest branches of trees, with nothing but the loincloth eywa forced him to make and start wearing when he was first capable of doing so.
thats not to mention he shock when he named most animals in his territory, when he was friendly with all fo them, when he could ride the apex predator of the forest and considered vipewolves to be his family.
when kiri would leave, promsing to tell no one, he would go to eywa and ask about the na'vi. she would share stories with him, even have him meet ancestors, like tsu'tey and eytukan, who he really liked. he also met kiri's mom, grace, another human. she taught him a lot about who he was, what it meant that he was human; but she also shared her fascination, a human boy raised by 'wolves', was the greatest of revelations.
one day spider would venture into the village, after months of getting to know kiri and eventually lo'ak and finally neteyam before he got ratted out by a hunter sent to find out where he children of the chief were hiding away. he would stand in front of jake and tell him Eywa was his mother, just like the viperwolves and the titantheres, and a woman named paz who was a good person and did bad things without knowing just how bad they were. jake would stare in shock at this wild child with golden hair and dirt roughened skin, would listen to his stories, follow him out into the woods and find they were all true. spider would refuse to stay in the village, but would quickly take to his new life; the boy who came and left as he pleased, who was the marker of a whole new chapter of the na'vi people.
As long as you can remember, Neteyam Sully has always been the person closest to you, covering your back every time you created trouble in the Omatikaya clan or got into trouble with your own family. Fortunately your parents trusted Neteyam blindly, after all he was the son of the Olo'eykte and as he grew up, his reputation grew with him, making him worthy of the trust of the whole clan. You could consider him your best friend, who understood and appreciated your rebellious spirit and so contrasted with his, creating a perfect balance in your relationship, as one gave the other what one lacked.
When you were younger it seemed easier to see you only as friends, but when you came of age you found it difficult to see Neteyam only as a friend. You had to admit that he had become a handsome Na'vi, an excellent warrior and probably the definition of perfection in the flesh, always teasing him about things like "You are Eywa’s favorite" and similar phrases. It was a fact that Neteyam excelled at everything he experimented with, so much so that he was the first Na'vi of his group to complete his Iknimaya on the first try, so you assumed he was perfect at everything. You never tried to make him understand your true feelings, intimidated by the fact that he would probably reject you and drive you away, ruining a friendship that lasted for years. So you arrived at the age of twenty with a huge crush on your best friend, watching in silence as the young Na'vi attached to him and flirted to become his companion and one day Tsahìk. You were heartened that he never told you about a particular girl, so you weren’t afraid to lose him yet, not wanting to realize that one day it’ll be too late to come out.
"Yn? Why are you so thoughtful?" Neteyam asked you as you walked through the forest, to reach your secret place where you two spent most of your time. "Mh? A-Ah, nothing, I was just seeing if there were fruits around to collect and take with us" You replied, smiling at the Na'vi near you, trying to drive away all the thoughts that haunted your mind. "Are you sure? If you need to talk to me about something, here I am, you know ma Tanhì" His sweet and caring voice was just one of many curses that didn't help your arduous feat of not thinking of him as a possible partner, but only as a childhood friend. "Yes" you hissed, forcing a smile and then turning away from him, bringing it back on the path before you. You kept walking for a few minutes and then you stopped because of Neteyam who got stuck in his footsteps. You looked at him worried, thinking that he had stepped on a poisonous animal that created paralysis or something like this, but then he turned to you with an embarrassed and shy look. "Ma Tanhì… can I ask you something?" he asked nervously, while scratching the back of his neck, noticing a slight veil of redness on his cheeks. "Umh… yes, tell me" you answered, approaching him, trying to figure out what question might embarrass him this way. "How do you get a girl?" The question hit you directly where it would hurt you most. "I-I mean, I’m asking you because you’re my only female friend, and I know asking Kiri would be the same as being mocked by all my siblings, and my mom isn’t the type to make that clear, saying things like 'follow your heart' or 'be yourself', so… I was hoping to hear it from you," he continued shyly.
At that moment all your beliefs collapsed like a house of cards, realizing that it was now too late even to mention that you had a crush on him. You didn’t react right away, your heart weighed so much that it crushed your lungs, taking away your ability to speak. After a few seconds you began to laugh, hiding your pain behind this action, hoping that Neteyam would not notice from your eyes that you were hurt. "The mighty warrior Neteyam, son of the Olo'eyktan and golden boy of the Omatikaya clan does not know how to get a girl? Really?" You asked ironically, knowing perfectly well that every girl in the clan would fall at his feet with a simple smile or greeting. "Neteyam, knowing you, you’ll just need to introduce yourself to this girl and she’ll be at your feet." your voice was a little tougher but sincere. You started walking in the forest followed by Neteyam who was trying to keep your quick step. "Let’s say she’s not like the other girls, this girl probably doesn’t even see me… Or if she does, she doesn’t do it the way I would" Unknowingly Neteyam was stabbing your heart repeatedly with those words. "Neteyam, c'mon. All the village women have a crush on you, you are the ideal type of all, so I doubt that 'this girl' doesn't see you as you would like" You snort while moving the plants to walk, feeling the look of Neteyam burn on your back and then sigh. "I’m telling you, that’s it. Y/n, you’re my…best friend, help me. Please, I promise I’ll cover you with your parents when you run off in the middle of the night, whatever you want" his desperate voice made you laugh, having never heard he beg like this.
"And you’ll have to take Tuk and my little sister Popiti out whenever they want. Plus, you will accompany me and Kiri to collect beads and objects in the forest" You turned to him suddenly, finding him a few inches away from your body. backing up because of the short distance between your bodies. "All right, will you help me?" he lowered his voice quietly, looking you in the eye while waiting for your answer. "Yes… Tell me about this girl." You back off before you start walking again, trying to calm your heart that was starting to run in your chest. Your tone was slightly cold, you didn’t really want to hear him talk about his crush, but as his friend you couldn’t even back out, not after he was always there for you. "Well, she’s… you know…" he began in a dreamy, excited tone, following the direction you were taking. "Perfect. There’s not much else to describe her with. She’s different from all the girls I’ve ever met, she’s kind, caring, and she loves being with kids. I know she’s a rebellious spirit and she likes to make things. is perfect, then her hair-" you stopped him before he could continue to describe her and go into pseudo-romantic details like the smell of her hair or the sound of her laughing. "That’s enough, I could throw up if you started listing the physical characteristics too" Neteyam laughed embarrassedly, remaining behind you. "Have you already come out? Or have you at least made her think you’re interested?" Your voice became slightly gloomy, and then stopped once you arrived at your secret place.
The place was lovely, you had found it as children and from that day had become your place, there was a small waterfall that created a kind of crystalline lake that connected to a small river hidden by high plains and thick nature. You and Neteyam sat on the grass to talk more comfortably. "No, I don’t know how to tell her or make her understand… I thought it would be easier, but every time I try, she doesn’t understand it or she starts laughing thinking that maybe I’m joking" he sighed heavily, and then he looks up to the sky. "And how did you 'try'?" Your eyes met his, trying to help him in some way, even if you would have preferred to do the opposite. You still had to realize that Neteyam could fail in something as easy as courtship. "Lo'ak told me to show interest, to be empathetic and to be myself, but all this I already did. My mother said that showing myself confident would be attractive, but I’m confident and direct in words, and showing respect." Neteyam dropped on his back and snorted, clearly frustrated by the situation, which you also noticed from the nervous oscillation of his tail "'Teyam, I know no one more respectful than you, as I said, you would be the perfect mate for any girl in the village." You admitted looking at the guy who was now lying next to you, unable to look away from his sculpted body, following every line of his body, enchanted by how his chest rose and lowered with every breath.
"Then what do I do… Why doesn’t she understand? It’s obvious that I’m doing something wrong in the courtship, ma Tanhì" his head turned towards you, looking at you while you were sitting and watching him, making him blush slightly. "Maybe start complimenting her, girls love that. Put your hand in her hair when you talk to her, like moving a strand behind her ear, looking for physical contact makes understand your intentions, especially by the way you do it. Oh! Make her laugh, if you can make her laugh, surely you have done most of the work" your voice was bitter in your throat, you were hating giving that kind of advice knowing that he would use them with who knows who. Neteyam as he watched you listening attentively and taking mental notes of what you advised him. " And be attentive to the details, what interests her etc… if you remember important events in her life or what she loves to do, it is a clear sign of interest. Plus if you have common interests, could you do it together, for example, she likes hunting?" he looked at you enchanted for a few seconds, then nodded and said "Yeah, she likes it" his voice lowered slightly, as he looked at you, hoping that you would understand. "Well, you can ask her to hunt with you. You’re a great hunter, you’ll definitely impress her. And then… umh, I don’t know, maybe be present in her days, even with a greeting, maybe looking for her look or bringing her something you know she might like. And be direct, let her know that you like her, maybe you take her and tell her, you create the right atmosphere… yeah, you know… things like that" You looked away from Neteyam’s, feeling a strong twinge in your heart that made it hard to speak again, feeling as if I had helped him get away from you. "What if she doesn’t understand it? she’s a good friend, and I don’t know if she’ll reciprocate" You clenched your jaw, maybe understanding who that girl was. Your mutual friend had been acting weird with you for weeks, and Neteyam was acting strangely the same way. Now all the dots were connecting in your mind. " He will understand, if you will be directed with there is another way. If it is not a skxawng. In case you make yourself heard and give her special attentions." You said with clenched teeth, unable to hide the annoyance anymore.
"Ma Tanhì," he whispered, approaching you, sitting again just to lay two fingers under your chin, turning your face towards him. Your noses brushed lightly as his eyes rolled down your lips. "And as actions?… what should I do?" his hoarse voice struck you in a strange way the back and the lower abdomen. "U-umh… Maybe you should… w-well" The breath died in your throat, going to create a knot that pushed down all the words that were going to come out of your lips. " Hmm? I should what, ma Tanhi?" your noses rubbed against each other again, and for a few seconds you deluded yourself that he wanted to kiss you, perhaps failing to realize what was happening. His eyes returned to yours, making you feel a flock of Sturmbeest in your belly. "L-like… kissing her" You whispered with a thread of voice, while his free hand went to move behind your ear some strands of hair, then caress your cheek with his thumb. You swallowed loudly, noticing how Neteyam’s eyes seemed so concentrated in yours, leaving you amazed. "Should I?" His words made you take a deep breath, feeling suddenly weak. "You should…" Neteyam’s smile caught your eyes, staring at his opened lips, which received a mischievous smirk. "Yes, I should."
Suddenly a strong heat hit your body, causing your heart to pump as much blood as possible into your veins as your cheeks burned. Neteyam’s lips met yours, his hands moved from your face to hold the sides of your neck, pressing the thumbs on your jaw. You stood by that unexpected approach, and then only realized it when Neteyam’s tongue pounded against your lips and welcomed it into your mouth. You felt his sweet taste because of the fruit that you both had eaten just before walking into the forest, you moaning in his lips trying to break away from the passionate kiss to catch your breath. Neteyam bit your lip, pulling it with his fangs, now moving his hands between your hair and around your waist, pressing your head against his lips making you groan as your flickering fingers grazed the hard skin of his abdomen. His warm skin contracting under your fingers, as if you were made of pure fire, so much so that when you felt more confident of yourself and your body, you sat on top of him. Your legs tied to his pelvis, squeezing him to you as he did to your body, shuddering when his hand that was once on his waist was now climbing up your bare back, making you arch your body like a cat. You trembled when he came off your lips with a snap that accompanied the sound of the waterfall shattering against the surface of the water, making you pant and gasp to regain the air you had lost. Your red face and half-closed eyes while Neteyam pressed your fingertips on your body.
You feared, for a second, that everything would be over after that kiss and that the embarrassment would lead you two to stay away, but your fears were swept away when you tried to get up from his legs and Neteyam prevented you, starting to kiss your jaw. In silence your bodies were calling each other, you felt the pressure of his whole being against you and new electric shocks hit your back. His soft, moist lips drew wet kisses on your jaw, starting to bite and suck down your neck as your head bent backwards, keeping your eyes half closed. His tongue was even more raw with your already sensitive neck, rough and greedy explored every inch of your skin, occasionally pressing his canines, panting raucously as he savored you. Letting sweet moans come out of your throat in despair as your fingers crawled into his braids, seeking comfort. The curious and hungry eyes of Neteyam studied your skin, feeling contentment in feeling the trembling and shivers he caused you, enjoying your heavy breaths and the noises you made to contain the moans, as if you could be ashamed of something he was trying to hear with such desperation. Your back gently collided against the grass when Neteyam stretched you under him, sliding his lips down your body, as his fingers gently removed the braided top that covered your breasts, as if to give you time to stop him if you wanted. Your eyes rolled backwards as his rough tongue collided against your nipple, and his hand crept in agonizing slowly between your legs, caressing it. You bit your lip violently when you felt the gentle and circular movements of his thumb on your clitoris, feeling the chills come down and hit right where Neteyam was playing with his fingers.
The red cheeks began to burn on your face, as you carried a hand to your mouth to force you not to let him hear your stifled moans, even if your hot body betrayed you. A smothered scream of pleasure instinctively came out of your lips when Neteyam’s fingers slid very easily into you. You suddenly felt airless, your eyes wide open and your body trembling, eager to hear what else he had in store for you. Neteyam’s hoarse laugh made your tail stand on end behind you, while the tip of your head swelled because of excitation, making you blush even more. "No need to be embarrassed, it’s normal that you like this, ma Tanhì" he whispered against your skin, making you arch your back again because of his rough pumping on your breasts. "Shh, baby, just… enjoy the moment and let me hear how much you like it" Neteyam’s voice was getting lower and slower, more sensual, knowing that you would like this. Swallow loudly when Neteyam made his way up to your thighs, leaving behind a trail of burning wet kisses, accompanying his movements with his fingers firmly inside you, which continued to move as if they were waves, making your legs tremble. Your sensitive breasts made you shudder because of the light breeze and saliva that the boy had left on the tip, and when you lowered your head to look for his eyes, you found him blowing against the bundle of nerves that yearned to be satisfied. You once again felt his tongue but this time he was working through your needy folds, loving the way one of his muscles could make you feel all that ecstasy. You whined as your hands went to clench the soft grass to find a foothold to release the frustration of too much pleasure, dropping your head backwards, hoping to muffle as much as possible your desperate moans. Neteyam looked for your face, eager to notice the impatience of your eyes and watch your face become a mess just for him, with the aim of giving you as much pleasure as possible, wanting to feel you up to bring you orgasm. He started savoring your intimacy, tickling your folds with the tip of your tongue, making you grunt as you clenched your teeth. When he started sucking, you felt something break in you, you couldn’t even cover your mouth as you groaned his name without shame, watching as he was focused on feeding on your excitement. Your hand again found place in his hair, pulling them and accompanying his movements as he gave you pleasure. "Look how wet you are for me, you wanted me so badly?" Neteyam said with sensual voice, between a lick and a lukewarm breath to make you shiver and whimping.
Your legs began to feel tired and heavy around his cheeks, trying to close together to stop feeling that tingling and flickering caused by too much pleasure. Neteyam wrapped his big hands around your thighs, opening them wider, locking them as much as possible against the ground below as his fingers sank into your soft flesh. His jaw continued to move between your legs with a heartbreaking rhythm that went from slow and gentle to rude and fast, making your walls tighten around his wet muscle. Neteyam broke away from you when he felt that your intimacy was wet enough not to make you feel pain when he slips inside you. His eyes peered at your body beneath him, still trembling and sensitive, touching your already sweaty skin, worshipping how you writhed and gasped under him. You could only take courage later, drawing him to your lips after your fingers hooked to the necklace on his neck. You tasted your own intrinsic moods in your best friend’s saliva as you embraced his body between your legs, rubbing his covered intimacy with your naked, feeling him grunting in your mouth. You smiled as you felt him vulnerable above you, taking advantage of that moment to put yourself on top of him, your back arched toward him to allow you to continue the kiss that was giving relief to both of you. You began to rub yourself on his still-covered sex, feeling pleasure when his throbbing muscle found space in your heat, moaning with pleasure, as your hands on his chest could feel the contractions and chills running through his body as well.
"Hmhm, I know something you’d like to try." Neteyam said as he wrapped his hands around your bare hips, observing the red and purple spots that covered your body. "What?" you whispered in response, as you detached yourself from his lips, observing him with ardent desire. One of his hands came up on your face, placing three fingers on your jaw and thumb on your lips, caressing your soft mouth, and then gently tapping on it. "Open." he ordered. His eyes following your every move, worshipping the way you obeyed him by opening your mouth and taking his thumb in your mouth, without breaking eye contact. You instinctively began to lick and suck his finger greedily, whining as you felt the slightly salty taste against your tongue. "Good girl, you already understood" Neteyam continued, as his hand on his side began to explore every inch of your body with desire. The Na'vi lowered you to the height of his loincloth and you smiled before taking your face away from where Neteyam was leading you, back on his face, sliding his salivated thumb out of his mouth. "Hmhm, here I decide, 'Teyam" you whispered to his ear, noticing with the corner of your eye his jaw contracted as your fingers find their way under his loincloth, just after picking up some of your moods still dripping from your intimacy, wrapping your phalanges around his needy manhood. You heard him growl after panting because of your touch, his chest rising and the frustrated breath of his nostrils against your neck, making you smile for the effect you had on him. Your hand began to slide up and down his erection with gradual speed, you felt his hoarse and rough groans against your skin, his hands clasping your thighs and his breathless breaths. Your lips went to tease the shell of his ear, leaving some magnate kisses or slight licks. When you felt quite satisfied with how he was also pining under you, you lowered yourself making sure you kept eye contact. Your hand went to move and later rip off his loincloth; Neteyam bit his lip and then groaned deeply when your mouth wrapped around his glans, starting to tease the tip with your tongue. Your head slid along his entire length to completely conceal it, immediately moving the head with greed, making him hiss and wince under you. The vein of his penis pulsed incessantly against the inside of your cheek, as he bit his lip and carried a hand to collect your hair in a tight vise.You felt his erection collide several times against the deepest point of your throat, letting you fuck your mouth by Neteyam, before breaking off with tears of pleasure sliding on your face. Your lips swollen and reddened, covered with drool as you tried to start breathing regularly sent him into ecstasy.
The pre-cum that came out of Neteyam’s sex illuminated your lips, making him turn on more to the vision of you with swollen and dirty lips of him. He took you by the hair and carried you back under him, and then he opened your legs and slid inside you with a facility that you would not have expected. You moaned breathlessly as his hips collided with yours in that way, carrying your hands against his back, beginning to scratch and tighten his skin with need. Your cheeks reddened that welcomed other lukewarm tears, your legs tight around his pelvis and the strong heat that at each push accumulated inside you. His tail wrapped around your heel, holding you still due to spasms of pleasure. Neteyam’s hoarse groans did not delay in striking your ears, as he held you by the hips, caressing your trembling thighs and twitching at each of his lunges. Your sweaty bodies colliding with every little movement, making you more hot and eager to consume you. Your lips met once again, growling at each other every time Neteyam pushed against your G-spot, your willows stirring each other’s hormones still stuck in your mouths. You bit his lips when he began to push and grind inside you shamelessly, growling at him before whining, making him excite even more as he purposely struck where your walls held him tighter due to sensitivity. You felt Neteyam’s body stiffen and twitching above you just before reaching orgasm and pouring out of you in time, then carrying two fingers inside you and starting to pump until you reach your peak shortly after him.
You whimpered loudly after the strong orgasm that mercilessly hit you; your heavy, sore thighs as your orgasm crashed into him and hot splashes of your cum poured over his hand. He gasped entranced, stunned by the lust and how your body looked so soft and relaxed after cumming. You took long deep breaths, looking at the green leaves so far away from you because of the trees too high, the sun that lightly struck the place where you were made you return to reality. You blush when Neteyam lays next to you, looking up at him too.
"Well, then…" He started, while you recovered with your hand the pieces of clothes to cover yourself again, hoping that you both would turn a blind eye. "Hmm…" You whine while avoiding his gaze with all your heart. "Do you think after all this, you realize I have a crush on you? If even this way you don’t understand that I like you, I don’t know what other kind of attention to give you to make it clear" he said casually. You shuddered and looked at him in shock. "Excuse you?" you whispered not really wanting to understand the meaning of his words. "I say, did you understand that you are the girl I was trying to conquer?" Your eyes met and you swallowed. "I don’t know how to ask you more directly than that, and don’t think I’m not afraid to ruin our friendship. But I like you, not just aesthetically, i love every part of you. I’ve been trying to make you understand this for six years, not that I didn’t like you as a child…" His voice was slightly shaky, as you watched him in silence, trying to figure out how to respond. "You never let me know…" you whispered as you blushed. Neteyam laughed and led you to lean on his chest, wrapping your body with arms "You really are a skxawng, ma Tanhì. I’m supposed to be teaching you. But how to figure out that someone has a crush on you." You hit him blushing while hiding your face on his chest. "Yeah, yeah, lessons from a guy who doesn’t even know how to come out and only does it after having sex with his crush. The great Karyu, Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk'itan" You teased him and then got pinched on the hips by his hands. "Not that you ever noticed I’ve had a crush on you for ages." Neteyam looked at you perplexed, and you couldn’t contain the laughter.
"See? Other than 'lessons'. You’re more Skxawng than I am, ma 'Teyam."
meet cute (lo’ak x gn!metkayina!reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: first atwow oneshot!! please let me know what you think! requests are open and i hope we all have some fun here! not proofread because i run on no sleep (1.1k)
The first thought that enters your brain when it regains consciousness is, Eywa give me the power to remain friends with this girl.
You groggily whisper curses as your best friend, Tsireya, shakes you awake. She says your name again and aggressively shakes you three more times before she stops, letting silence engulf your marui pod. You feel yourself getting dragged to where you know the edge is and groan. You pull yourself up in a swift movement, not wanting a repeat of the morning splash incident.
“I’m up, I’m up,” You put your hand up in surrender, slightly towering over your best friend.
Tsireya wastes no time. She immediately takes hold of your hand and drags you away from your pod.
“I haven’t even eate–” You interrupt yourself with a yelp when you’re forced to a stop.
Tsireya shoves a fish your way, “Come! You need to meet the newcomers!” You take note of your best friend’s excited look before you redirect your gaze towards the fish.
“Okay, first of all, this is no longer warm, what am I supposed to do with this? Second–”
“It would still be warm if you actually woke up on time.”
“–Newcomers? Anyone interesting?” You ignore her previous statement and resort to giving her a teasing look.
Your best friend lets out an exasperated sigh before a playful smile graces her lips, “Well. . . I personally didn’t find anyone interesting,” She winks your way, “But you might.”
You furrow your eyebrows and stop walking, turning around to face her again. You catch sight of the shit-eating grin she has on her face. You put a hand up on front of you defensively, opening your mouth to let out a complaint but it dies down.
Tsireya gives you a knowing look, you let out another sigh, “elaborate?”
She urges you two to start walking again before she speaks, “They are forest people.”
Once again, you come to a stop. Your best friend chuckles at your dazed expression before taking hold of your hand and dragging you, forcing you to walk by her side.
“You told me that your father came from the forest,” Her voice gets softer, it always does when your conversations decide to dip its toes in unfamiliar waters.
She takes note of your hesitance and continues, “If you don’t want to, it’s alright, I won’t force you,” She bites back a grin, lightening up the conversation as she does,“I don’t think you’ll find their youngest boy that terrible looking though.”
She shoves you playfully before calling her ilu, she sends one last wink your way–an invitation to follow, and the option to eat along–before jumping in the water.
After quickly weighing your options, you decide to take a quick walk to your shore. It’s not officially yours, it’s more of an unspoken tradition amongst the Metkayina; if a Na’vi is seen habitually hanging around a specific area for a long enough time, it unofficially becomes their spot.
It’s why your steps come to a halt once you spot a Na’vi in your territory. You can only see his back but it’s evident with the hue of his skin that this must be one of the newcomers that your best friend was blabbing about just a few minutes ago.
You walk silently towards him, only stopping once you’re directly behind him. While waiting for him to take notice of your presence, you realise that he has a pile of wood and is most likely about to start a fire. You move your gaze to his left and spot his day’s hunt.
Your mouth twitches as it fights an internal battle; wait for him to notice or speak your mind.
“Not bad for a newcomer,” He turns to face you and lets out a high-pitched scream. You smile at the image of the newcomer flailing his arms theatrically.
Once he’s calmed down, you’re able to take his face in. You tilt your head to the side in curiosity. Your examination is interrupted when he coughs, the tint on his face making his embarrassment known.
“Hi?” He says, voice significantly deeper than it was a minute ago.
You bend down to his level and bring your face closer to his before you stand back up, “I didn’t know people of the forest inked their body the same way we do.”
“We don’t?”
He stands up, now towering over you. He offers a hand, “Lo’ak”
You say your name and quickly shake his hand before staring up again at him in wonder,
“But you have markings on your face?”
His ears flatten and you realise you have spoken without thought. You try to think of how you could possibly lighten the situation and resort to helping him cook his day’s hunt.
You go around him, crouching down to light the campfire, motioning for him to help as well. He sits cross legged and works on cleaning the rest of the fish.
Still unsatisfied with the comment that seems to have left him unsettled, you cough, quickly getting his attention. “It suits you,” you continue, “the markings I mean, it makes your face look nice.”
Lo’ak looks at you in shock before looking down, you catch his bashful smile–fangs and all–the sight of it making your own lips twitch,
He straightens his back, “Thank you,” he coughs again, “We must hurry, if my family starts cooking before I finish then this would be wasted.”
You glance at the fish and the basket he has on the side, “They do not know that you are preparing a meal?”
“No, I didn’t even know I’d catch this many.” He says sheepishly.
You nod, looking up at the sky and taking note of the time. Lunch would usually be eaten in 4 hours, but considering they were newcomers performing activities their bodies aren’t used to, it’s better to make haste. The two of you begin to put the fish on the campfire
“It is your first time hunting here.” You comment, catching his gaze to see if your guess was correct.
Lo’ak  nods enthusiastically, “Yes. I’ve caught fish before though, back in the forest,” he makes a figure with his hands, using them theatrically, “We don’t use nets like you do though, since we catch them in rivers, we use our bows instead.”
You smile at his story, moving fish from the campfire to the basket as you do, “You did well for a first catch,” you commend, smiling when he shoots a grin your way.
“I don’t think I saw you when we first arrived?” It seems it was his turn to question you.
“You make it a habit to look at everyone?” You ask him playfully.
He furrows the ink above his eyes in thought, “No, not really,” he smiles at you, “You would definitely catch my eye though.”
His comment brings a smile to your face, you decide not to comment and instead answer his previous comment. “I was busy,” he tilts his head, “sleeping.”
Lo’ak throws his head back in laughter, “You and I will get along well.”
You both smile at the promise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The reefs of Pandora were more than breathtaking. The reef amazed you with its diversity, with its wide range of different colors, as well as many types of creatures living there. Having been Metkayina, you have been taught to look beyond the mundane. Water was both life and death, so to immerse yourself in this very specific kind of relationship with it was indispensable.
It was not anticipated that newcomers would arrive, especially forest people, Omaticaya. With Tsireya's assignment to show the newcomers their new home, you also took part in this task. Truthfully, you were curious about this new family that was about to settle among Metkayina. As opposed to your clan - their hands were slimmer and less muscular; their tails had funny fur covering the tips, and they had thinner legs. There was no doubt in your mind that they would have difficulty adapting to your environment.
Nevertheless, within a few weeks, the Sully family made great progress - they learned to ride ilu and how to fish, and Jake Sully's youngest son even developed an unusual relationship with Payakan, a tulkun outcast.
Sunset came in its boldest blaze, as if Eywa had painted rainbow-flames across the evening sky. You were coated in a light mist of salty air from the ocean breeze, blowing gently towards the shore. Sitting on the sand with Tsireya and Lo'ak, who grew closer to the two of you, you watched the eclipse coming across the sky; throughout the area, beautiful turquoise and violet hues began to appear.
"The thought of Payakan choosing you still baffles me," Tsireya whispered to Lo'ak.
With a single nod, you also glanced at the young Omaticaya. "Tsireya's right. It seems to me that Eywa has something great planned for you, Lo'ak."
As he listened to both of your words, young Omaticaya nodded his head occasionally; some of his braids moved back and forth as he did. "I still don't understand why your clan refuses to accept Payakan's innocence."
There was an exchange of glances between you and Tsireya.
Taking a moment to calm herself, Tsireyspoke. "Loak," she started gently, "You know he is the one responsible for those deaths, according to the Tulkun Way."
"It's unfair," he replied, shrugging within his arms as he traced shapes in the sand with one of his fingers.
As if to ease his anger and sorrow, she placed her palm on his shoulder and whispered, "This is how it is, Lo'ak."
After letting out a deep sigh, the young man got up. "Even though I understand, I find it highly unfair that he must pay for the rest of his life for fighting against sawtute." When Lo’ak had finished speaking, he walked along the shoreline alone, leaving you and Tsireya behind.
Tsireya looked after Lo’ak while he walked away. "He's so upset. I don't know how to cheer him up."
You got up and dusted the sand crystals off your legs, saying "I'll try to speak with him once more."
Tsireya nodded in acknowledgement. "I think it's worth a try. Just remember to be gentle."
"I always am," you laughed and hugged your best friend before attempting to locate Lo'ak.
_________________
Not long afterwards, you spotted him petting his ilu while sitting on a wooden pier, almost outside the village. You watched him from a distance for a while. Tsireya was right - he was extremely upset over the situation with his spirit brother. As you were considering leaving him alone there so he could collect his thoughts and find his inner peace again, he spotted you out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head to you and laughed lightly, "Have you ever been told how bad you are at sneaking up on people?"
As you approached him, you spread your arms wide. "Too many times, actually," you replied with a shrug. As you sat beside him, you rubbed your hands together and put your legs in the water. "Lo'ak, listen, I know that..."
"I appreciate both you and Tsireya's efforts to comfort me, but..." He paused to rub his temple. "It's not that easy, I'm sure you understand my point of view."
While you gazed at Lo'ak's sadness written on his face, you said, "I understand, even though it might sound foolish. I truly understand how you feel."
A hollow look crossed his face as he watched the horizon, asking, "Do you really?"
“Sran, Lo’ak. Oel ngati kameie.”
Lo'ak looked directly at your face bathed in the last rays of the setting sun after he stopped petting his ilu's head. The way he stared at your huge eyes made it seem as if he was trying to glean every little sparkle from them. There was an obvious attempt to express a thought, but he could not find the appropriate words to do so, so he continued looking at your face, moving his gaze from your eyes to your cheekbones and lips. “Listen…”
With your palm raised, you signaled him to remain silent. While your palm rested on his chest, your eyes were never taken away from his. "Listen to me now, please. The tulkuns were violent creatures who fought among themselves for territory and revenge during the time of the First Songs, one of the earliest recollections of Na'vi history. This way of life was eventually abandoned by the tulkuns, who adopted a pacifistic philosophy in which killing is strictly forbidden, even if it is justified, as in self-defense cases. Thus, any tulkun who acts against the Tulkun Way and kills is outcast from the tulkuns. The tulkuns and my clan share a close relationship, as you might have heard, so any outcast tulkuns are rejected by us as well. It is nonetheless my strong belief that Payakan will have an opportunity to make amends, sooner nor later."
Lo'ak held his breath without even realizing it as his eyes widened. As you spoke in a reassuring tone, Lo'ak's heart calmed a little; the belief you had that Payakan could atone eased Lo'ak's soul as well. "Do you really think it would happen, Y/N?"
“Yes.” Lo'ak grew quiet as he thought once again about everything you had said. Having anxious thoughts was like riding an ikran around the village over and over again, faster and faster - it was more than pointless, so the young Omaticaya decided to push them out of his mind. In view of the beautiful eclipse that swept over the world, Lo'ak raised his head up, letting a quiet sigh out. "I strongly believe that Eywa knows... That Eywa knows he was innocent and tried to fight back after his mother and friends were killed."
Initially hesitantly, you took his five-finger palm in yours and squeezed it tightly, smiling at him. "Would you be kind enough to smile for me, Lo'ak? I don't like it... I mean, my clan don't like it when our guests are sad."
Observing your face as carefully as he could, he tilted his head to one side, considering your words. "Do they really worry about me or is it you who are concerned?" He mused.
Oh! There were moments when you wished you weren't so sensitive, that you could conceal your emotions more easily; within an instant, your cheeks were rosy and your hidden emotions were evident to everyone around. Those yellowish eyes of his were fixed on you; they were the most beautiful and understanding you've ever seen. “Lo’ak…” You started, but he touched your cheek, he rubbed his thumb against your skin, making you hold back your breath and nuzzle against his palm a tiny bit.
"Oeru lu fpom. I'm glad I met you. My family is so fortunate to have you and Tsireya as friends. You seem like such a sweet person," he complimented.
You whispered, "Oh, stop it" but his closeness had an unusual influence on you; your heart pounded as if you were being chased by akula, your skin was hot, and your pupils dilated. "I like you too, Lo'ak," you whispered back.
Suddenly Lo'ak leaned forward and gently placed his lips against yours, without a thought in his mind.
Initially, you blinked, surprised, but soon lost yourself in the sensation. Despite being messy and uncertain, his kiss was sweet and full of promises of a better tomorrow. During the kiss, you were at your most pure and vulnerable selves. There were a million loving thoughts condensed into one moment in that kiss. His lips tasted like the sweetest nectar you've ever tasted. Immediately after the kiss was broken, you looked into his eyes hesitantly, just like he did. “Lo’ak…”
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have kissed you," he apologized, gathering his composure as he rose from the pier.
"No, no, Lo'ak!" You blinked and got up as well, following him.
Lo'ak's ilu put his head over the surface of the water to observe the situation.
“I'm so sorry, I have no idea what I was guided by. I didn't want to sully your honor," he said, getting from the pier to the sandy beach.
"Lo'ak!" you yelled as you tried to stop him.
The young Omaticaya took no notice at all and tried to walk away as quickly as he could.
"Lo'ak te Suli Tsyeyk’itan!" You shouted after him.
It was only that that made him pause and look back at you.
As you approached him, you shook your head in disbelief. Observing him with your bluish eyes, you asked, "You kissed me and now you are running away? You, the one who survived meeting with Payakan alone? What is it that you are afraid of?”
As he avoided your gaze, Lo’ak whispered, "Rejection. Rejection is what I fear most."
You took a hold of his palms, squeezing them, fixing your eyes on his face. "Please, hear me out, Lo'ak. I need you to know that you matter. Not only to me, but to the fate of this planet. You need to acknowledge your worth. Be confident. Start feeling the difference you actually make," you reached out and touched his cheek lightly, your other hand was put to his chest. “As I told you before, oel ngati kameie. The confidence and certainty you feel about your own self is what I want to see from you, for I admire you, my dear. And about the kiss... Your belief that you sullied my honor is terribly misguided,” you chuckled lightly, blushing yet again.
"I thought you didn't like it," Lo'ak replied, licking his lips as they became so dry he could no longer bear the feeling.
"I've been kissed a few times before," you told him openly, "but none have been as heartwarming and perfect as yours." You could see the gratitude within the sparkles of joy in his eyes.
"Look at that! I didn't know my little bro is such a skilled kisser!" Suddenly, a vibrant tone came from behind, and you saw no one else but Neteyam, Lo'ak's older brother, approaching you.
Your anger about Neteyam destroying the moment full of trust and thrill made you grin at him a little too wryly. "Neteyam."
As Lo'ak asked, his tone was filled with anger, "What are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here? It's well after the eclipse, and mother is worried about you," the older brother explained with a shrug. “Come on, let’s get you back home.”
Upon seeing his brother's smug grin, Lo'ak rolled his eyes and requested, "Just give us a minute."
When Neteyam walked away into the substantial distance, Lo'ak focused on you again. "I was wondering if you would like to hang out tomorrow? We might go to Payakan.”
"I think I'll be able to join you if you help me with fishing and net weaving," you told him with a smile, but deep inside you were really more than thrilled by the thought of spending more time with Lo’ak.
"You got it!" He smiled eagerly, and kissed you again, harder this time.
The actions of Lo'ak had not gone unnoticed by Neteyam, who whistled a few times. "Well, well, look at you, kiddos! It might be a good idea for me to tell mother to start preparing for your wedding, bro. Love is in the air!”
"Lay off of him, Neteyam," you warned as you leaned closer to him, "Or I'll have to open up about what I saw a few days ago."
In an instant, Neteyam stopped grinning; his eyes narrowed, turning into tiny gaps. "Don't you dare, Y/N."
Lo'ak exclaimed, "Hey, I wanna know!"
A smirk danced around your lips as you looked hardly at Neteyam and said, "Your older brother was making out with Tsireya."
Lo'ak chuckled loudly and opened his eyes wider. "Knew it! I saw you staring at her. Look at you, bro, you aren't wasting your time."
After shaking his head and groaning loudly, Neteyam turned and walked away, gesturing at Lo'ak to follow.
Lo'ak kissed your cheek briefly. "See you tomorrow!" He bid you farewell as he chased after his brother, lining up with him shortly after.
While watching him leave, your heart raced within your chest. There was no doubt in your mind that the best was yet to come.
Includes: neteyam, loak, kiri, aonung
Tumblr media
Neteyam;
Tumblr media
He would be so cute bro
Little glances, asking you to fly w hik often, that type cute stuff
You guys have probably been friends for a good amount of time so nobody thinks anything of it
ALWAYS close to you
I mean ALWAYS.
Sitting beside you during meals, sharing an ikran with you, having a sleeping mat near yours, etc.
He would show you the cool places his dad tells him about
He would be super scared to confess
He can handle his dad getting disappointed in him, but not you.
His tail would swish around you
His siblings make it SO OBVIOUS smh
Like stop exposing him or he is boutta burst
You know that FOUL side eye he has?
Yeah, he gives that to anyone that has any romantic interest in you
Scaring them away
Still doesn't confess tho... pussy
He would muster up the courage to confess if he gets signals you like him back
Would be SO SURPRISED when you kiss him
He's an idiot
Lo'ak;
Tumblr media
Hoe tries to impress you so hard 😭
Like you are NOT iron man you needa chill
"Look [name]!! I got a gun!!" Get back into the air before either I or someone else shoots you.
He always find the coolest stuff to give to you
Like in awa'atlu you go out swimming and he somehow finds the most ethereal, best looking shell you could imagine
Like... how?
He wouldn't really think you'd like him, in his mind he is the least important out of his family.
His dad is Toruk Makto, his mother is palulukan Makto, his brother is future Olo'eyktan, his sister is literally eywas daughter, and we'll tuk is a child.
He so wrong tho!!
Since he has his dad's features, he would subtly try and get you to call his dad attractive.
Ur getting dragged into his mischief.
You've ended up hanging upside down on a vine from a large tree multiple times.
Neteyam saves u tho 🙏🙏
You would have to confess bro
Or like you would both "confess" by just kissing?? Idk man
Kiri would be holder of gossip from BOTH of you
She's sick of it fr
So happy when you finally get together so she doesn't have to deal w ur pining
Kiri;
Tumblr media
She's so introverted aw it is imagine her having a crush on you??
She would barely be able to talk to you.
If you guys were already close before she started liking you, than she's even more warm n clingy but drill a little flustered
How could you like someone like her? She's the weirdest out of her family
That's what goes through her mind
She's such a starer.
MAKE HER A FLOWER CROWN DHSHDVEHSU
She would enjoy doing your hair since hers is quite short
Would make sure she is the one tending to you when you're hurt
You love it too
If you're an extrovert, she admires your outgoingness and how easy it is for anyone to talk to you.
If yours introverted, she enjoys having you to herself most times because you usually aren't hanging out with others
Whoever is taller is always teasing the short one
Would confess through writing
Maybe a letter, or even writing something subtly on something she makes/gives to you
Ao'nung;
Tumblr media
Bullies you.
All I really have to say
Hard-core makes fun of you
Doesn't attack you in ways he knows will actually hurt tho
Bro is always staring at you
If you catch him and ask why he will literally be so defensive
"I wasn't staring at your fish face!" We literally look almost the same but alr...
Would get so flustered if you were to help out with his family
It's so cute
Begs his sister to make him sound cool to you
UR NOT GONNA SOUND COOL IF UR STILL HARDCORE BULLYING ME BRO
Would whisper something that suggests he likes you in your ear
Probably something about kissing
If you reciprocate the actions than he'll confess after
He's a big meanie
2.7k words, no warnings.
Y/n being captain of the ship known as Lo'ak and Tsireya.
lowdown-
When Y/N, and the sullys first reach the reef, a boy catches her eye, and she does her best to catch his attention. She doesn't believe he likes her back, and she thinks it's ridiculous that she's so whipped for this boy. He seems to have no interest in her.
since this is part one theres no angst yet
pt 2 here pt 3 pt 4
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N. that is what those close to you know you as. The ones that you were not close to knew you as the seventh toruk makto. The youngest ever to get chosen by the leonopteryx, the child like kiri, so in tune with nature, but with the dangerous side, as well as the soft side. You only knew one thing in life. The forest was part of you and you were part of it.
You were disappointed that you had to leave the forest. You were in love with it, the forest was part of you and you were part of it. you were so so upset about leaving it, but where your family goes, so does you. Sullys stick together. You and kiri were both quite similar in the idea that you were quite in tune with Eywa. However, you both were slightly different. She choose to be quiet and she was more calm, and would walk away from anyone picking a fight.
You were the opposite, always jumping in head first and thinking about your consequences after. You were more likely to get into a fight than Kiri since she was a lot more calm and collected. At a young age you seemed to be in more touch with the animal life of Pandora while Kiri was enamoured by everything. But you didn't relly mind and quite often disappeared into the foliage of the forests with her. Your father did not seem to worry about you that often but you definitely knew he loved you, from the times when he'd asked you What'd you'd seen and done in a day after you dragged Kiri away from the trees back to your clan.
One particular day when you were about 6 or 7, you had Kiri has gotten separated from Neteyam, spider and lo'ak on one of your trips, and not too soon after you had lost Kiri too. You didn't worry, because you knew you'd find your way back to the rest no matter what in the end. You were very very curious then, and quite often gave your parents heart attacks. At the time, there were rumours of a thanator being pregnant, as it did not happen that often, and when pregnant, they would do their best to remain hidden. The thanator, had been roaming around the outskirts of the forest, near the clan.
The people were scared of the thanator, even if your mother was one of the only people to ever have 'trained' one, the people were obviously still wary. It seems even though your siblings were aware of this, they still deemed it a good idea to go and travel into the forest themselves. Well, anyway you guys got separated, and you didn't think too much of it. You were sitting on the forest floor, petting and stroking a baby viper-wolf, who were playing with some other cubs.
Suddenly, they stopped yapping at each other and froze, giving a small, quick hiss before getting up and running away. You looked in the direction that they were running away from and saw her. The thanator was so beautiful. Some part of your body was telling you to run, but the stronger, bigger part of you was telling you she wouldn't hurt you and you had nothing to worry about. So, you stood up, cautiously walked up to her and gave your hand for her to smell you like a dog would, and she licks your palm. You just chill with her for awhile before asking her to help guide you back, but she actually does, which leads you to believe she can understand you.
And from that day onwards you would constantly sneak off into the woods to find the pregnant thanator which you named ta'éki. This carried on for several years till you were roughly about 12, at this point your entire family knew but they knew she wouldn't hurt you. ( i believe with my heart that when Thanators are pregnant they will remain pregnant for years until they believe someone other than them can take care of their baby, and that they also take a very long time to grow up, roughly 25 years to get up to the size of the one neytiri rode) You had bonded really well with ta'éki.
one day, you ran to meet her at the pool and noticed how her pregnancy stomach was gone, and she was with a tiny baby Thanator. at this point you understood her so well and you basically were able to speak to animals in the first place, and she asked you to bond with the baby. When you connected tsaheylu you instantly knew this would be a moment you would remember forever. You decided that moment her name would be ta'heyla. You did basically everything together from then on.
Once it was time for you to bond with a mountain banshee for you to become accepted as an adult, you had gone up with kiri and neteyam. For some reason, you didn't feel like you would meet your banshee there, So you told your father that and he allowed you to explore while your sister and brother claimed their banshees. In the distance, you could hear the whoops of excitement from neteyam ( you assume) successfully bonding with his banshee.
You don't mind it too much, and were climbing up some vines on the hallelujah mountains to explore some more by yourself. you hear some soft clicking noises, and something compels you to follow it and you come across a giant leonopteryx.
You instantly stumble over your own feet, and fall onto your butt. but, due to the fact she did not pounce, you knew it might have been okay to approach her. so, you did. without really considering if anything could go wrong. But you just casually asked her to be your friend, and voila! you were the 7th Toruk Makto. Avarin was a strangely coloured leonopteryx, but there was no doubt that she wasn't one. Her colours were various shades of blue and black.
Obviously people were slightly confused how a great leonopteryx ( you named her Avarin, because it just seemed appropriate) had chosen a 12 year old girl, a child. But you just didn't really care and just kind of did your own thing.
You ended up being known very well throughout your clan for your affiliation with especially dangerous animals, and you suppose that spread throughout the rest of pandora as well. Your brothers were jealous, especially lo'ak as he wanted one too. Avarin was quite wary among anyone other than you and your family, so she preferred to stay quite away from your camp, but always seemed to know when you needed her.Several years later, the sky people came back.
They hunted and hunted in the forest, searching for your father and your family, wishing to extract their revenge, which was why your father was adamant that you were not to visit the forest again, after neteyam, lo'ak, kiri and Tuk were intercepted while you were off flying with Avarin, having left the mic at home since it distracted you and made you uncomfortable.
You kind of blamed yourself for that, since you could have helped, but they managed to be okay, even though spider was taken away. since then, you had to obey, these people were really dangerous. But you could not leave your family behind, those ones in the forest, the ones you grew up with.
So, the day before you left, you ran into the forest while your parents were busy arguing to find ta'éki and ta'heyla. But ta'éki was nowhere in sight in your usual meeting spot, but Ta'heyla, the baby thanator was. And then you knew that the sky people were the reason for the disappearance of ta'éki. So, you did the only thing you could think of, you told ta'heyla everything would be fine and that you would take care of her. So, as you packed your things, you had ta'heyla curled by your foot.
You had worked for several hours trying to convince your father to allow you to bring her, and you genuinely hoped that the metkayina clan would not worry too much about her, as you knew she would not hurt anyone as long as you were present. At this age, she was the size of a medium grown tiger from earth, but you knew you would be able to bring her with you as you knew Avarin, your leonopteryx would be able to carry her.
The flight was getting exhausting for you. Avarin was a smooth flyer but several hours of sitting on a saddle no matter how smooth the flight is would get tiring real quick. Ta'heyla was on the back with you having been strapped down with some ropes you had to fashion as quickly as you could.
Soon, the waters became clearer, and you were able to see the beautiful clean water, with all these different beautiful fish and various animals swimming about. You really really wanted to take a break and touch the clear water, since you've never swam in the ocean before, the urge was really really strong, and you knew you would get along with all the creatures really well.
you shot a look to kiri, conveying what you thought of the sights with just a look. She was flying beside you, but you noticed her banshee looked slightly uncomfortable with the Avarin so close, even though hers knew it was okay.
Finally, You had reached the Metkayina clan. houses on top of the water, connected to mangroves, so many of them, with children splashing in the water and yells of happiness and joy. As the shadow of Avarin passed over them, everything quieted down, there were some screams, but the company of mountain banshees next to your leonopteryx made them not panic, because that was something that did not happen often.
You landed at the centre, and your family around you. You stepped off and helped your baby Ta'heyla down, opting to stand next to kiri, since she and you were the closest in the family.
Avarin, uncomfortable with the crowd around you pointing their spears, took off, giving a slight hiss. The people stumbled back, most likely unused to a leonopteryx of that size.
"coward!" you yelled after her, with her only giving you a light squawk. Kiri laughed at you and with that you turned around, to face the Metkayina clan, those who were in control of your future now. For some reason, your heart starts thumping, with your tail flicking back and forth, and you look around, wondering what is causing that. You spot two teenage boys making their way towards you.
From behind, they scrutinise yours and kiri's tails, laughing at it. " look at that! is that supposed to be a tail?" One of them, the taller one grabs your tail, you flush, and pull it out of his grasp, flicking your tail against his back and he lets out a squeak. Kiri covers her mouth with her hand to hide her laugh.
In the end, 'cause after ronal picks on kiri, you stepped in front of her and stopped paying attention, preferring to keep an eye out for everyone else. So, when the boy who pulled you tail is introduced as the son of Tonowari and Ronal, you flick him an interested look, finally taking in his looks. you have to admit, he's quite attractive and maybe he'll be nicer from now on. Tonowari raises the question of your thanator, and you're quick to reply. "she won't harm anyone, she's never harmed anyone in her entire life. It will be okay. I will be responsible" Your sister is quick to back you up, following your brothers and tuk. "very well, i will hold you to that." Tonowari says. You bow, glad that you are able to keep her with you.
Fast forward to your first lesson. Breathing. Tsireya saw to it that Ao'nung helped you, since he had been your tormentor. It was very very quick, but you seemed very intrigued by him. He was quick, strong, intelligent. everything you wanted in a mate. But he viewed you as untrue na'vi, and you wanted to change that. So, you did your best to prove yourself to him. For some reason, you knew that you were going to end up together, even if he was quick to ridicule you and your siblings. It seems that everyone else was quick to catch on, too.
with his hand on your abdomen, just resting under the line of your top, his hand seemed to sear into you, so warm and inviting, a contrast to his cold behaviour. The water was cold, which caused you to shiver. breathe in from your stomach, and hold it as long as possible, The way of water has no beginning and no end. Our hearts beat in the womb of the world. The sea is your home, before your birth and after your death." You turn to him, eyebrows quirked, you watch as they dive in. You follow, and so does lo'ak neteyam, kiri and tuk.
You open your eyes underwater, having a clear membrane cover your eyes, much like the metkayina, which allowed you to see clearly underwater. and oh eywa. What a sight. The clear water was so mesmerising. The fishes swimming by without being afraid, the beautiful corals, and more, Ao'nung; he looked so beautiful underwater, so in tune with the environment and the current underwater moving his hair back and forth. You didn't want to stare too long, so you changed your sight and looked towards Tsireya. She makes some hand movements, and you guess that she's asking for you to swim with them.
Your siblings, lungs bursting head back up for air, and you watch Ao'nung turn to Tsireya and ask what's wrong with them. You feel very protective, and swim back up to check on them. Once you are back above water, you look through the water and see Rotxo, who has been quiet the entire time, make hand movements to Ao'nung saying "those guys are bad divers." Tsireya interjects with "stop. they're learning" and they too, swim back up.
"are you alright?" Tsireya asks.
Tuk whines; " you're too fast, wait for us"
Ao'nung comes to the surface and jeers. "You are not good divers. Maybe good at swinging through trees, but…"
but thankfully, Tsireya hits him on the head, you're thankful because you really don't like it when he talks bad about you, and you think you really should not be interested in him.
Neteyam speaks up for the first time, "Come on bro. We don't speak this finger talk, you guys. We don't know what you're saying."
Tsireya says, " I will teach you." and you send Neteyam a smirk, laughing at Lo'ak's expression, like she said he wouldn't teach her.
Tsireya turns to Ao'nung " you will help Y/N, she is faster than them and understands quicker, once you are done, you may help me with tuk." You hear Ao'nung let out a groan, and you can't help but feel a little bit squashed.
So, you head back to the Marui, and sit on the side, he turns to you and says. "look, you are seem to understand better than your brothers that are slow, but you do not know all the hand signs, so-" He is interrupted by Ta'heyla running up to you and jumping on you. She's quite big, but you don't seem to mind it too much.
"what is that-" Ao'nung asks, cautiously putting his hand out, for what? you're not sure.
"seems like we can both teach each other some things, so let's be civil, yeah?" You turn to him, noticing his caution, you give him a shrug, and he tries to ignore it, but he definitely saw it.
"shut it forest girl" he smiles, and goes back to the lesson, and oh eywa, does your heart thump at that smile. Like Tsireya, he has dimples and oh eywa, what a pretty thing.
You ask him to discard the lesson, wishing to know more about his culture, and you can't help but watch enamoured as he describes the traditions of the Metkayina clan, not at the lesson, but at him, the way he talks and moves his hands around, it seems you're already whipped.
Hi, I'm curious if you have any theories about Avatar 3 and any thoughts about Ash Navis? What could they be like and will Quaritch really join them?
I wouldn’t say I have hard theories based on a ton of set leaks or anything but I have things in mind that I think could happen that would be interesting to me.
So I’ve heard the Ash clan is made up of Na’vi exiles from various clans. Basically it’s ✨Space Australia ✨. I think it’d be really cool to see them have a blended culture from all those other tribes along with seeing what there land looks like. It’d have to be pretty brutal if you’re sending exiles there. It’s confirmed that it’s a volcanic land so made those volcanoes regularly erupt (and could you imagine the lava maybe changing colors or being like something you’d see through heat glasses. It’d be so cool) I think other tribes are gatherers and don’t really do farming so maybe the ash clan have to grow plants to survive “manipulating” Eywa’s creation. Maybe there’s even deadlier animals then what we’ve seen or variations of animals we have seen that are adapted to the ash lands. All in all I think the ash clan will be brutal with a more feral relationship with the land and Eywa then the other tribes.
Something I’d find interesting for Quaritch would be if he tried to become Toruk Makto. I find it unlikely that there’s only one Toruk. The one we see in the first Avatar would at least have to have a mate so the species doesn’t die out. So Quaritch could become a dark Toruk Makto (could you imagine the fight him and Jake would have!) like a false prophet that some tribes actually get behind. I don’t think the ash clans leader Verang would fall for him though. I think it’s more likely that they use each other. I don’t think they’ll be romantic either.
The title the seed barrier has always had me speculating even though that’s apparently not the title anymore. But I’ve wondered what these seeds could be and what if it’s literally like a seed of Eywa that the humans could take back to earth to heal it? I think that’d be cool. According to the avatar survival guide (which I’m not even sure is canon) Pandoran plants have been taken to earth and there are even cults of eywa on earth. I love this concept so much and would love to see this expanded upon though I don’t think it will be. But all that’s to say there’s all ready Pandoran flora on earth and support for the na’vi, so you could have allies on Earth that would get the seeds planted. I’d love to see more of Earth in general but I’d like to see something done to actually save the planet. I think that’d be the best solution for the humans and the Na’vi. First you’d have to defeat the R.D.A because they are poison for everyone but their investors. There’s no way a human settlement on Pandora run by the R.D.A would ever be sustainable obviously not for Pandora but even for the humans. They’d be slaves to a company, your everything would be dependent on them and it’s not like you could just leave when you can’t breathe the air.
I think we’ll see more of Earth through Jake and Quaritch’s memories and maybe that’ll create sympathy from Eywa that leads to the creation of these earth healing seeds. You’re definitely not giving these to the R.D.A because they would just exploit it. They’d probably have to hijack a ship and send a human they trust (not Spider! I would hate to see him leave Pandora) to get the job done. They’d link up with the Na’vi loyalists on Earth and save the planet. This is more an overall theory though not just a third movie theory.
This isn’t really a theory and I’m sure everyone has heard the set leaks by now but Spider having a near death experience with Kiri healing him and Spider gaining the ability to breathe Pandora’s air afterwards is basically already canon to me.
I would like to see Neteyam resurrected in some way. I don’t think he’d be flesh and blood resurrected though I’d be so happy if he was. I think, if Eywa is an actual god ( and I think she is) and not a more scientifically explainable collective consciousness then maybe with the building threat Eywa decides she needs more spiritual help and turns characters we know into minor gods. I think I’d be cool to see Neteyam as like an earth god with his spirt creating earthquakes that wreak the R.D.A during battle. I would want this for Tsu’tey and maybe even Sylwanin too. I think this is totally not going to happen but I really like the idea.
I do think Grace will be resurrected in her Avatar body. I had the thought a few weeks back of, could they just hook graces avatar body back up to the tree of souls? ‘Cause her soul is with Eywa, maybe her soul just needed more help getting to her avatar body when she was you know- dying. But Kiri basically being Eywa’s avatar is probably strong enough to shepherd her mother’s soul into her na’vi body. I actually think this is pretty likely because I feel like just keeping Graces body around creates a narrative need to do something with it. No body but Grace can drive it so I think it’s only logical for her to be resurrected.
Those are my major theories/thoughts! Thank you for the question. I’d love to hear what everyone else thinks 💙
Existentialism ahhhh
I have to go off on an existential tangent about nier, james cameron’s avatar and the bible. I have a hard time putting my thoughts it into words, but the Avatars are an existential nightmare. … AND SPOILERS OF COURSE
Ok so, in the original NIER there are to “good” guys called replicants fighting the “bad” guys called gestalt (german for shades, shapes, ghosts) and in the end it turns out that the gestalten are the souls of the humans in the project gestalt where the soul was separated from the body due to the white chlorination syndrome (WCS) caused by the white gunk from the drakengard universe. And the replicants are replicates of the human bodies, who lost their soul. The soul should be fused back with the replicant body, but it took so long that the replicants gained consciousness and developed personalities independently of their soul and started to build their own civilization with culture.  Also, in Nier Automata the Machines sent by the aliens (please bear with me) gained consciousness and started to form communities, without a gooey brain. So that poses the question in james camerons avatar: Will the avatars become sentient without being taken over by their human drivers? I was always complaining that it’s not really explained how the mind controlling of the avatars works. We know that the avatar is unconscious when Jake is not controlling it, but the Avatar cannot lie there for 12 hours without breathing because then the organs would fail due to the lack of oxygen. We don’t know if the na’vi are also using oxygen for their electron transport chain in the mitochondria but they breath something in the air that used to generate ATP and fuel their bodies, which means JAKES AVATAR HAS TO BREATH BY ITSELF when he’s not taking over, meaning the hind brain for motor functions must be active. And brains have spontaneous neural activity, so I imagine the Avatars, should be able to use their brain on their own without their human controlling them. I mean it also takes us humans some years to gain consciousness after our brain has formed during fetal development. Ok, I just want to say: I think the Avatars built by humans should be able to gain consciousness on their own, you know, like the replicants in NIER do… Also, my other pet peeve is that jake just controls the Avatar of his dead twin brother. So, it’s not really him and at the end of the movie it’s just jakes soul in the body of his brother. On a side note, identical twins are genetic copies but are of course their own person. So even though their brain formed with the exact identical genetic code, they are different people. So, I would discard the argument, that Avatars are “just lifeless copies” of their human, because they are at best twins, but because of the na’vi dna I would say, they are their na’vi brother.  This brings up a lot of moral and ethical questions, which I will also ignore because it’s a scifi movie.  Buuuuut it also brings up and interesting moral and existential dilemma for miles quaritch who dies in the first movie but was “resurrected as an Avatar” with the memories of the old human. So, we have an Avatar, who is significantly younger than his old self, with the life experience of a 50-year-old and memories of a human body now in a Avatar body. That would be super confusing. And if the humans are able to transfer memories and a personality into an Avatar, who says, they don’t change anything to optimize him, or make him more loyal? Why should the Recom Miles Quaritch fight for something his old self died doing? Why isn’t he having an identity crisis?  Anyway, also Kiri is Jesus and Grace is Mary. When grace died in the first movie, she was sent to eywa (god) but did not return. We don’t know if there is a baby daddy at the human base, but because kiri is so connected to eywa, I think that graces avatar body hat the same immaculate conception with eywa, like mary did with god and out comes jesus kiri, a conscious Avatar birthed by another Avatar. Ok so long story short: I think Avatars can consciousness which is an absolute nightmare in the context of the movies. Thank you for listening, I just had to get that off my chest and please ignore the typing mistakes :’)
Only memories now
This is my second Avatar one-shot, hope you guys enjoy it Focused on Lo’ak and Jake reflecting on Neteyam’s death
There had been no rest for Lo'ak's mind these past few days, his thoughts completely on his brother. Guilt weighed heavily on his heart, as if anything he did wrong, even if he was warned not to, would lead to Neteyam's death.
Not being able to sleep, he decided to get up and look for Payakan, maybe leaving the house a little or talking to his friend would help at least distract his mind at the moment.
Along the way, he met someone he didn't expect to find. His father sitting by the sea, alone, clearly devastated. Lo'ak hesitated a bit before approaching, not wanting to disturb him. Not having much to do, he decided to just sit next to his father, waiting for him to say something first.
-Couldn't you sleep too, son? - Jake asked him, removing the boy's fear of approaching completely.
-No, I just can't stop thinking about him - Lo'ak confessed, after sitting down - I keep blaming myself, I keep thinking that if I wasn't so stubborn and had listened to him more often, he would be here with us now ...
He ended up crying next, unable to hold back the tears, his father offered him a hand on his shoulder, letting him cry in silence.
-Blaming yourself has no use, you know that whether you asked or not, he would do anything to keep you safe, he was like that... - Jake tried to console him - I know what it's like to go through that...
"I understand, you lost one of your children," Lo'ak murmured back, thinking he understood everything.
-No, that's not what I meant - his father clarified, softly - it hurts to lose my son, but I know what it's like to lose a brother...
-Did you have a brother? You never told us that - Lo'ak understood, although he was surprised by the new information.
-I lost him very quickly and then I came here, there was too much going on and I don't think I had time to process everything, to go through the grieving process in the right way - Jake said, taken by memories of that time.
-What happened? You fought? - Lo'ak wanted to know.
-We were very close when we were kids, Tommy and I, we were born together, you know? We were twins - the father continued to tell - but after I joined the army we drifted apart, he didn't agree with my decision, and he also had different interests from mine, he was a scientist, one of Norm's best friends.
-Norm knew him? - the information surprised the boy even more.
-Yes, they would come here together, not me - Jake paused, sighing before continuing - they killed him simply to get his money, such a stupid reason to do something so cruel, when they warned me, he was already dead, and there was nothing I could do, I decided to come here and you know the rest of the story, but there's a part of me that regrets it, that blames itself for not having time with him, for not looking for him sooner, it's something I can never fix and I'm going to have to deal with it. Just like your mother, losing her sister wasn't in her control either.
-Is Ronal right after all? - Lo'ak reflected aloud, after hearing all this - Eywa has abandoned us and we are a family of unlucky strangers?
-No, son, I don't think so - Jake looked at him firmly, with patience and pity - I consider myself the luckiest guy to have you, what brought me here was a tragedy, I know, but I like to think that was Tommy's final act to see me happy, I would never find someone like your mother on Earth and I would never have you, I wouldn't trade you for anything.
-I know, Dad - the boy nodded, knowing that Jake spoke the truth, having seen all the sacrifice he had made for the good of the family.
-There are things that are not under our control, like thesky people come back and we have to move, and Neteyam dies - before continuing, he sighed again, having difficulty mentioning him - but we still have one another, we are building a home here, at least I can see how hard you are trying...
-I wouldn't have Payakan's friendship if we didn't come here - Lo'ak pondered, understanding what his father meant - or Tsireya, or everyone else, somehow  everyone ended up accepting us.
-I understand - Jake managed to smile - when they destroyed the Home Tree I felt useless, an outcast, that I would never be able to regain the trust of the people who adopted me, and even after everything, they still remember where I came from when they look at me, this is a battle we will never stop fighting.
-Having to prove myself the rest of my life because you were born human- his son replied, with bitterness in his voice.
-Yeah, that's right, but at least here, with the Metkayina, things are better, aren't they? - Jake tried to show him a little hope.
-Yes, they are - Lo'ak managed to smile, a small smile still, and full of nostalgia for Neteyam, but happy to be having that moment with his father.
-Let's be thankful for that then - His dad decided - Eywa is on our side, and most importantly, she is with your brother.
"Yes," the boy replied quietly.
-We will celebrate Neteyam forever, he will never die in our hearts, let's keep the good memories alive- his father advised.
-I miss him bothering me, we talked at the end of the day... - Lo'ak commented.
-I miss him too, how he was noble, brave, kind to all of us, the way he smiled when he got excited... - It was Jake's turn to allow himself to cry now.
"He will live on in our hearts," Lo'ak had the nerve to finally say.
Courage pushed him a little further and the boy hugged his father. It was almost as if Neteyam was there, making sure they looked after each other in his absence.
----
A/N.: That was my second idea for an Avatar one-shot, inspired by the new movie. I need more moments like that with Jake and Lo'ak in the next movie.
I don't see it talked about enough (outside of Song of the Banshees) but the whole thing with the recoms kinda brings up a philosophical conversation about the nature of cloning in terms of identity, and whether Quaritch is really Quaritch.
Like he has the memories, but they aren't his, are they?
There do seem to be some key differences between Colonel Miles Quaritch the human, and Miles Quaritch the recom.
Like from the source material that I can find, human Quaritch didn't really seem to care all that much about his kid, and we kinda see that when he first wakes up as he doesn't seem to ask about Spider at all. You'd think a parent, knowing that how that war ended, would want to know about the fate of their child.
But then, when the recom's come across the kids and Quaritch realizes it's Spider, you start to see the change. It's slow at first but even in the beginning, he does things that I'm not 100% the old human Quaritch would have done. The big one for be is that he doesn't push Spider to give up the Sully's and respects Spider's loyalty to them, and frankly, I don't think human!Quaritch would have.
Bringing Spider along is also interesting for me because sure it serves a purpose, but it's also relatively risky. Tracker in the mask aside, Spider could have easily led them into a veritable death trap.
Then we have that clip, the one with Spider ducking under Miles' arms and him smiling at Spider when he does it. The body language (something I'm usually shit at reading because of autism) reminds me of a father finding amusement in something their kid did.
It's all the little things that add up for me that don't match up with the Quaritch from the first movie.
Giving Spider the dog tags. I have family who served and giving someone their dog tags is not a small thing. (One family member used their dog tags to propose to their partner after their last tour.)
That first time in the interrogation room (where he gives him the dog tags) it's obvious that Quaritch is being mindful of his strength when grabbing Spider and once Spider 'calms down' a bit, he makes an effort to be non-threatening.
Spider is with them for months, and not only does he still dress and act like a na'vi, he still has his blue stripes. Quaritch doesn't make him dress in human clothes, doesn't correct his behaviour in regard to the climbing/crouching, and someone had to either get the paint for Spider or let him gather it himself, and then help him apply it.
Quaritch burns the villages instead of killing any of the metkayina. He planned to -he was going to- but he didn't because Spider begged him not to.
watching the premade identity the RDA created devolve and fade away, slowly being replaced by who we know as recom quaritch was so interesting and well done, even if by chance, not intentional.
they are clearly 2 different people, human and recom quaritch, with the 'identity' that makes up the recom when he first wakes up, "the puppet" as I typically dub it, being the transition between the two.
spider was the breaking point, he broke through the haze, caused recom quaritch to form contradicting memories, thoughts, opinions to the "puppet" identity, compromising him.
I think spider also 'woke up' some memories in recom quaritch. I think with the uploaded memories, they put emphasis on certain things, things that would help make a better "puppet" or toy soldier. I think they would make other memories dormant, not wanting to risk wiping them completely which could raise alarm, even in the best made soldier, he is still conscious. I think seeing his son, woke up some of those fonder memories, ones not of war times, and it started a domino effect.
we start to see him act more "human" he stops acting so cold and detached, the anger dials back a bit when he has moments to back away form his mission, he has empathy and mercy.
he connects to eywa's creatures (his ikran) and claims her the way any other na'vi would, he proves himself worthy. he shows mercy to the metkayina. he shows true care and love for his son.
he makes so many risks to keep spider at his side, as he flip-flops between 'identities' as if both sides are fighting for control. even if its a subconscious battle, it's clear he's devolving.
he is truly having the most classic clone crisis, "to be or not to be", fight or obey, do whats right and risk it all or let it happen and stay numb.
A Voltron: Avatar AU again but I might actually turn it into a fic on AO3 at some point.
Quick thing: Adam is Na'vi while Shiro is an avatar. Also this little one shot will take place before the two mate or well it'll be like the scene where Adam is trying to get Shiro to mate someone but nothing explicit will be written.
.
.
.
.
Shiro was eating breakfast before he had to return back to his avatar body. Shiro found being in his avatar body to be more freeing. Plus he got to be near Adam when he's in his avatar body. Shiro found himself getting closer to the Na'vi, his friends told him that he might want to back off since Adam is promised to another. Yet Shiro couldn't find himself to.
.
.
Shiro smiled when he woke up in his hammock, his smile grew when he saw that Adam was sitting in it while waiting for him to wake up. Shiro slowly sat up, his eyes focused on Adam. "Hey." Shiro looked Adam over. Adam looked at him and gave a smile.
Adam grabbed Shiros arm and stood up. "Let's go for a ride." Adam said. Shiro hummed. Adam pulled the avatar up. Shiro noticed that Adam's tail was swaying back and forth. Shiro grinned. "Let's make it a race." Shiro watched as Adam's smile widened. That's when Adam pulled Shiro out of the hammock. Shiro felt his smile grow even though he didn't think it was possible.
.
.
Shiro and Adam took their Ikrans out for a short ride, Adam ending up beating him to a floating mountain with perfect ease. Shiro didn't care though because Adam looked so happy that he won. However they didn't stay at the mountain for long because Adam wanted to take Shiro someplace and talk to him. That made Shiro nervous but he ignored it and followed the Na'vi.
.
.
Shiro followed close behind Adam as the shorter male led him through a bunch of trees. Shiro recognized them as spirit trees, a way for you to talk to loved ones who passed on. Shiro didn't understand why Adam was taking him here but Shiro hoped that it was for reasons more intimate than bad.
"Why did you bring me here?" Shiro asked. Adam had his back facing him as a seed of Eywa landed in his hands. "Many wish to mate with you." Adam's voice sounded bitter, as if he didn't like the fact that many wanted to be with Shiro. Shiro frowned slightly. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Shiro stared at Adam. His eyes looking over Adam once more.
"It truly depends on who you mate with. If you want I can help you find your best suitable mate." Adam guided the seed of Ewya to fly with the others. Shiro hummed. "I'd like that." Shiro took a step closer to Adam. "Theres Merla, she's a lovely healer. She knows how to hunt as well." Shiro watched as Adam's tail flicked.
"I'm not interested in Merla or women." Shiro watched as Adam's ears twitched. "Well there's Astrophel, he's a lovely hunter as well. He leads most of them in fact and your personalities would go well together." Shiro hummed. "You're right." He noticed how Adam's tail flicked again. Shiro walked closer to Adam.
"However I don't want Astrophel. In fact I already have someone in mind who I wish to be my mate." Shiro put his hand on Adam's lower back. Adam looked at Shiro. Shiro noticed how his eyes looked over his face. "Who? I'm sure they wish to be your mate as well." Adam met Shiros eye. Shiro smiled.
"You have to answer my question first." Shiro glanced at Adam's lips. "Go ahead." Adam gave Shiro a small nod. Shiro was nervous to ask but he had to. He had to ask before it was to late and he lost his chance. "Do you want to be my mate?" Shiro kept his voice quiet. Shiro looked over Adam once more. He saw how Adam's ears twitched and how his tail flicked. However that didn't answer his question. "Yes." Adam put a hand on Shiros arm.
.
The two were now facing each other. They were both holding their braids. Their queues were exposed. "It is similar to bonding with your Ikran. We connect our queues together and we'll be bonded for life." Adam looked at Shiro. Shiro nodded. Shiro and Adam brought their queues together and they met in the middle. The tendrils interlocked on they touched. Shiro kept his eyes on Adam. It felt as though Shiro could feel every part of Adam without touching him. It was odd and created a need to actually touch the other male. Shiro dropped his braid in order to pull Adam close and into his lap.
Shiro noticed that Adam dropped his braid as well in favor of holding onto him. Shiro looked at Adam's face before pulling him into a kiss that Adam gladly returned. Shiro kept his hands on Adam as the kiss turned into something more.
A place in the world
So, here you have it guys! Neteyam x Oc story first chapter, I hope you enjoy!
If there was one word that defined Lay'ti, according to her own conception of how she saw herself, it was confusion. First, she had a huge responsibility since she was a child, but the day she would assume that responsibility, no matter how much she grew up and was older now, it seemed to never come. Growing up dealing with that idea confused her.
Second, every young Omaticaya had to become a hunter to be part of the people effectively. Though well schooled by one of the best warriors and hunters in the tribe, she had barely survived her ritual in the Hallelujah Mountains. She had scars on her arm from her ikran bites to prove it. It had been a fight she didn't think she would survive, but here she was, alive, part of the people, truly, even if she wasn't the most prodigious of hunters.
What made Lay'ti feel really useful was cooking and learning how to be tsahik directly from Mo'at, whom she greatly admired, the two had created a strong connection since Lay'ti was just a child, for more than a reason.
The young woman remembered seeing the confused Olo'eyktan, looking at her, and at the boy beside her, his son. A ten-year-old Neteyam, silent, as embarrassed as she was. Glancing up, she saw Jake staring at her parents.
-You must forgive me for what I'm going to say, but that seems strange, forced to me - he said with all possible caution - she's just a child, they're children, it seems unfair to me to take that decision out of their lives.
-Ma'Jake, it's tradition, for them it would be an honor to be part of our family, and I feel that this is Eywa's will - Neytiri, the leader's wife tried to appease him, explaining as best she could - if it comforts you in some way, they can grow together, let's make sure that at least a friendship exists between the two, so that when the moment of union comes, it will be more pleasant for both of them.
Not having much to go on, Jake just nodded, finishing making the deal with Mignah and Tupi, Lay'ti's parents. The girl in question was confused.
She looked at Neteyam one last time lostly, not having much idea what was going on, leaving with her parents.
-What happened? Why was Olo'eyktan so angry with us? she wanted to know as she reached her own familiar space.
-He wasn't angry with you, it's just that since he didn't grow up as a Na'vi it's difficult to understand our customs - her mother explained, as gently as possible.
-I hope this doesn't happen again - her father murmured, worried - but the deal is done, that's what matters.
-What deal? What's happening? - the girl wanted to know.
-My little Lay'ti, listen to me carefully - Tupi bent down to her height, stroking her hair - our family has been blessed, you will be the wife of an Olo'eyktan one day, tsahik of the Omaticaya people, when Neteyam is leader.
-You mean I'm going to marry him? But I don't even know him well, I know who he is, but he's not my friend - Lay'ti protested, processing as much as her 9 year old mind could understand of the whole situation.
-You have the same concerns as the Olo'eyktan, now I understand - her mother smiled, understanding - for that, my dear, you'll have to be friends with Neteyam, it's good that you're together, to get to know each other better.
-I understand - Lay'ti lowered her head, still processing what all this could mean.
Her child's mind simplified everything to one simple thing, she would be friends with Neteyam now.
It wasn't hard to sympathize with the Sully children, for one thing, they weren't boring at all, with their up and down games, competitions and teasing each other that was quite amusing. Neteyam made a point of including her in the group, he always called her to play, told how he was becoming a better fisherman with his father's lessons, about the things he found interesting about the sky people. Thus, Lay'ti grew up with the Sully children being her friends, and especially, the oldest of them, as a fulfillment of the mission that had been given to her.
The biggest confusion Lay'ti had witnessed so far had started on an ordinary day.
-Hey! Good Morning! - Neteyam took her out of her chores, separating some herbs she had picked earlier.
-Good morning, I see you, how are you? - She looked at him quickly, waiting for his answer, ready to hear it.
-I'm okay, I'm going hunting, I intend to catch a huge yarik and after that, ask you a favor - he proposed in a noble way, without seeming provocative, as Lo'ak always was, it was one of the things that Lay'ti admired on the eldest.
-You can ask, if I can do it for you - she smiled, waiting for him to complete his idea.
-I'll bring the meat straight to you, you can leave a separate part for me, I mean, for us - he explained himself, looking slightly embarrassed - you know I love your spice.
-Oh, really? All this because of that? - Lay'ti i ended up laughing and patting him on the arm - y'all say I cook well and all, but really, an Omaticaya who isn't that good a hunter is a bit of a shame, don't you think?
-Don't worry - Neteyam clicked his tongue and shook his head - you're good at other things, which are also important for our people, and don't worry, tsahiks have occupations more similar to the ones you already do.
The mention of her future position made both of them shiver in the brief moment. It was common for him to joke about what made him nervous, to use humor to deal with difficult things, but the truth is that he found the engagement arranged between them embarrassing. He knew that one day he would have to get married, but losing the right to choose who he wanted before he could even do that was confusing, strange. When that kind of rebuttal filled his head, Neteyam made a point of recalling what had become a mantra since he had become fully aware of the situation.
"You were born to be Olo'eyktan, it is tradition that your wife is chosen from an early age, this is your duty as the future leader of the Omaticaya". After all that seriousness, he added a thought of relief like "you could marry someone far worse than Lay'ti, at least she's nice."
After recapitulating all of that, he sighed, returning to the present moment.
-Yes, I think so - Lay'ti replied quietly, with her own reservations about the matter - I think you'd better go soon, I don't want to have to cook your yerik so late, good luck on the hunt.
-Thank you-he thanked and giving his intended one last greeting, turned his back on her, ready to face what was to come in the forest that he loved so much.
