How do you stay cool in such a hot area? I live a state over and it’s hot as hell. These summers have turned me into an inside person😅

dressing for the heat!! i exclusively wear oversized t shirts, cotton bras, and shorts that keep me from chafing during the summer. it’s not cute at all but when it’s 105° outside—or even just 96°—it’s necessary. hats, sunscreen, and getting your hair off the back of your neck also really helps. i can’t wear my hair down during the summer loll. if you’re going to be outside for an even longer amount of time, cover your skin to protect it. long sleeved “fishing shirts” that are breathable REALLY help. wear nothing form fitting (traps sweat close to your skin and may not dry), go for loose jeans if you have them.

staying hydrated is also incredibly important. i have one of those big insulated cups bc ice water on demand keeps me sane outside lol. cold water like that also lowers your body temperature, which is great if you’re overheating

but other than that…. honestly, you just get used to it. spend some time in a shady place with some good wind!!! acclimate yourself! i was outside for ~3hrs yesterday after the temp started to go down bc it was only 94° and it felt AWESOME with the wind blowing… now. when it’s stagnant that’s literally killer and you should be in some shade at least

Oh I haven’t thought of this. Oh good god this’ll be great.

Keep in mind Chuuya’s a ginger. His skin is more susceptible to burning, if I recall. Not to mention he has several pounds of feathers attached to him, so he’s bound to overheat.

Unless he’s wearing something revealing, and in the summer, he does a lot, he doesn’t go out during the hottest times of the day or someone will soon find a melted Chuuya popsicle on the floor.

But let’s be honest it would be HILARIOUS if Chuuya was flying around with Dazai on the beach or something and got sunburned once. I’d get a kick out of writing/reading that one.

Okay, so my younger sister has anxiety and therefore a psychiatric Service Dog. He is certified and trained, and has had experience going to restaurants. However, he is young, so while he follows rules, doesn’t chase others, and doesn’t make noise/disturb, he tends to sit by us instead of laying at our feet (just his comfort level).

We are currently on vacation in Northern Wisconsin, and visited a restaurant called Maiden Lakes Supper Club. While there, once we were seated and had ordered, I noticed a balding man side-eyeing us. He soon came over while our dog was sitting behind us, by the wall. He immediately told us that he had never seen a service dog “that didn’t just lay down at the owner’s feet and didn’t eat”. He was extremely critical and as soon as we said that he was staying by us and was still in training, he stormed off without giving us his name. We were incredibly upset - our dog was obedient, quiet, and stayed underneath our table, even when the waitresses came by.

We spoke with him afterwards, and he stated that as the owner, he was simply trying to protect the place. From the incorrigible beast of murder and mayhem known as the “service dog”. Now from what we’ve heard he was the manager, not the owner, but regardless we were furious with his behavior. If you or someone you know has a service dog and lives near Wisconsin or is planning on visiting, please turn them away from Maiden Lakes Supper Club! However, all of the food and other waitstaff were wonderful.

I am going to go love our dog severely while seething in my chair. Hope you all have better experiences with your service animals! Also, PLEASE don’t put fake service dog vests on your animal. It’s incredibly illegal and hurts the treatment and reputation of trained service dogs. Thank you for respecting our animals!
