So I got surprise billed ridiculous amounts for just refills on medications on two separate visits. while not having insurance and still jobless outside of commission work and streaming when well.
(Image ID in Alt and in Read More/Keep Reading.)
I can DM for proof.
My Goal is 400 USD. I have savings that total roughly about 25% of my goal. However, my savings and earnings from streaming has been towards a new computer due to mine beginning to fail. That is a separate issue and can see about getting help for a replacement unlike medical as of late. I can also confirm my medication will be paid for due to those I live with. So this is JUST a pair of bills, one being during August as I had no access to emergency funds outside of medications.
I have roughly 3 months (90 days) to see if Medicaid will be approved with the help of a social worker I am in contact with. However, I am worried they will not cover my bills due to being ONLY refills and not emergencies.
I will take coffees on Ko-fi alongside for those that are more on my artist front of social media. I would really appreciate being supported through reblogging my commissions sales and streaming posts on @kinshipguild as well. I stream my art, doodles, gaming and more. I have been working back into streaming regularly alongside.
ID: Image is a commissions sale page for Kinship's drawings. Everything (that is not an example, the title, and the current fursona of Kinship) is black-red, to grey red, peach, yellow and white in varying gradient points. At the top left is a rainbow title that says "Kinship's Commissions" with dark red text underneath reading "All drawings are 50% off! Sketch, Lined, and Rendered! Sale Ends Sept 3rd!" overlayed onto a peach to yellow and white gradient Screen Asset.
The bottom left is a currently single headed hydra fursona that has a big grin and is waving with their left hand. They have 3 sets of horns, short curly blond hair, a small blond soul patch on their chin, and pale purple-ish blue skin. Their wings and tails are mostly off screen. They appear to be shaky and has their right eye closed and squinting their left eye, as well as sweating and looking stressed.
To the right top to bottom, is the examples for Bust to Full Body drawings! There are 3 rows each with the original prices slashed out with a red line and the new prices right below each price. Top row are sketches of UWUMachina (No Mech, Our OC) and Hand Of The King (Dead Cells) with the prices listed between them, the new prices being 15USD to 30USD. Second row is the same character pair but now lined and colored with prices at 25USD to 75USD. The final row is the pair now fully rendered without backgrounds, priced at 32.5USD to 75USD. Below the rows is a double sided arrowed line that is labeled "Bust" to the left and "Full Body" to the right in all caps. Right behind the line and rendered examples is a peachscaled Desk Table.
The background is a black-red, to grey red to dark peach variant of an original and Undertale styled Battle Background. End of ID.

Sorry guys, turns out the data that I originally posted is quite inaccurate, for the actual list just look at this image instead:
Sourced from here: https://archiveofourown.org/chapters/158271001
The AO3 ship stats dropped, so here's the list of the top 100! (All the data below this text is incredibly inaccurate, btw.)

Considering this is a hellaverse account, I'm gonna point out all the HB and HH entries on this list:
9th place: Huskerdust, Angel Dust/Husk with 5657 works gained this year, with 6452 works in total.
12th place: Radioapple, Alastor/Lucifer with 5287 works gained this year and in total.
13th place: Chaggie, Charlie/Vaggie with 5282 works gained this year, with 7082 in total.
26th place: Stolitz, Blitz/Stolas with 3615 works gained this year, with 6221 works in total.
33rd place: Radiostatic (or whatever you all are calling it these days, idk man), Alastor/Vox with 2918 works gained this year and in total.
51st place: Staticmoth, Valentino/Vox with 2208 works gained this year, with 2775 in total.
63rd place: Fizzmodeus, Fizzarolli/Asmodeus with 2029 works gained this year and in total.
Provided that I haven't been an idiot and missed something, that appears to be all the hellaverse entries on the list for 2024!
Stats sourced from here:

Hello!! I hope you're having a good day ^^ I came across your post about writing non-linearly on Notion and I'm excited to try it out because the advice resonated with me! Though, I'm really new to using the app and, if possible, need help with how to do this part: 'where every scene is a separate table entry and the scene is written in the page inside that entry.' ;v;
Hello! Thank you so much for messaging!!! Since that post about writing non-linearly (linked for context) blew up roughly ten thousand times as much as anything I've ever posted, I've been kind of meaning to make a followup post explaining more about how I use Notion for writing non-linearly, but, you know, ADHD, so I haven't done it yet. XD In the meantime, I'll post a couple screenshots of my current long fic with some explanations! I'd make this post shorter, but I'm unable to not be Chatty. XD (just ask my poor readers how long my author notes are...) (There is a phone app as well which syncs with the desktop/browser versions, but I work predominantly in the desktop app so that's what I'm gonna be showing)
(the table keeps going off the right side of the image but it's a bunch of unimportant stuff tbh) So this is more complicated than what you'll probably start with because I'm Normal and add a bunch of details that you might not need depending on what you're doing. For example, my fic switches POVs so I have a column for tracking that, and my fic follows a canon timeline so I have a column for dates so I can keep track of them, and I also made columns for things like if a scene had spoilers or certain content readers may want to avoid, which they can access in my spoiler and content guide for the fic. (As I said, I'm Normal.) I also do some complicated stuff using Status and estimated wordcount stuff to get an idea of how long I predict the content to be, but again, not necessary. Anyway, you don't need any of that. For the purposes of this explanation, we're just gonna look at the columns I have called Name, Order, and Status. (And one called Part, but we'll get into that later) Columns in Notion have different types, such as Text, Numbers, Select, Date, etc, so make sure to use the type that works best for the purpose of each column! For example, here I'm using Select for Character POVs, Number for Order and WC (wordcount), and Text for the In-Game Date. Okay let's get into it! Name is a column that comes in a Notion table by default, and you can't get rid of it (which drives me up the wall for some purposes but works totally fine for what we're doing here). As you can see on the scene I've labeled 'roll call', if you hover over a Name entry, a little button called 'Open' appears, which you click on to open the document that's inside the table. That's all default, you don't have to set anything up for it. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like when I click the one titled 'I will be anything for you' (I've scrolled down in the screenshot so you can see the text, but all the data fields also appear at the top of the page)
(This view is called 'side peek' meaning the document opens on one side and you can still see the table under it on the left, which is what mine defaults to. But you can set it to 'center peek' or 'full page' as well.) All my scenes have their own entry like this! Note that I've said scenes, not chapters. I decide the chapters later by combining the scenes in whatever combination feels right, which means I can often decide in advance where my chapter endings will be. This helps me consciously give most of my endings more impact than I was usually able to do when I tried to write linearly. So hopefully that gives you an idea of what I mean by writing inside the table and treating the table as a living outline. The 'Status' column is also pretty straightforward, and might require a little setup for whatever your needs are. This is another default column type Notion has which is similar to a Select but has a few more specialized features. This is how mine is set up:
(I don't actually use 'Done', idk why I left it there. Probably I should replace it with 'Posted' and use that instead of the checkmark on the far left? whatever, don't let anyone tell you I'm organized. XDD)
Pretty straightforward, it just lets me see easily what's complete and what still needs work. (You'll notice there's no status for editing, because like I mentioned in my other post, I don't ever sit down to consciously edit, I just let it happen as I reread) Obviously tailor this to your own needs! The Order column is sneakily important, because this is what makes it easy for me to keep the scenes organized. I set the Sort on the table to use the Order to keep the scene ordered chronologically. When I make the initial list of scenes I know the fic will have, I give all of them a whole number to put them in order of events. Then as I write and come up with new scene ideas, the new scenes get a number with a decimal point to put them in the spot they fit in the timeline. (you can't see it here, but some of them have a decimal three or four digits deep, lol). Technically you can drag them to the correct spot manually, but if you ever create another View in your table (you can see I have eight Views in this one, they're right under the title) it won't keep your sorting in the new View and you'll hate yourself when it jumbles all your scenes. XD (And if you get more comfortable with Notion, you probably will at some point desire to make more Views) The Part column isn't necessary, but I found that as the fic grew longer, I was naturally separating the scenes into different points along the timeline by changes in status quo, etc. (ex. "this is before they go overseas" "this is after they speak for the first time", stuff like that) in my mind. To make it easier to decide where to place new scenes in the timeline, I formalized this into Parts, which initially I named with short summaries of the current status quo, and later changed to actual titles because I decided it would be cool to actually use them in the fic itself. Since it's not in the screenshots above, here's what the dropdown for it looks like:
(I've blocked some of the titles out for spoiler reasons)
Basically I only mention the Parts thing because I found it was a useful organizational tool for me and I was naturally doing it in my head anyway. Anyway, I could keep talking about this for a really long time because I love Notion (don't get me started on how I use toggle blocks for hiding content I've edited out without deleting it) but that should be enough to get started and I should really, you know, not make this another insanely long post. XDD And if anybody is curious about how the final results look, the fic can be found here.

This is prompted by your most recent substack about fame, because my point is extremely tangential, I'm putting it here.
It's interesting to have seen the internet go through many stages. From the newsgroups/BBS era, to internet forums, to blogs, to social media, and how the respective environments shaped things.
In the early days, it's very much a group thing, some people became Big Name posters, pseudonymous, but still a group thing. The blog era was more personal, but still something made by someone who's just a person, even if not literally pseudonymous. Also, still text based, a lot of it even often. Social media changed that, with it's focus on follower counts on one hand and to snippets of text (twitter) or images (insta), and even though it's social media-ness is debatable, video (insta, youtube). The semi-anonymous nature however, was completely lost by now.
The doing it because you enjoyed it, or whatever, also recedes into the background because this is where monetization really takes off. The deleterious effects of the interaction between monetization and follower counts (notability) need no introduction, but painting with broad strokes, make something appeal as broad as possible deepens the flattening effect a medium like video already has, the visual aspects often being more important than the messages. It also has a much higher barrier to entry. Spinning up your own blog is cheap, text takes only a tiny amount data. Video is not. It's expensive to make (especially if you want slick videos), expensive to serve, so it's predisposed to big, single platforms that can leverage economies of scale.
The natural result is that you have a few people with big audiences, instead of many people with small audiences. If audiences is even the right word for that. If I'm talking about say, some TV show on my blog, and someone responds, it's a fairly equal conversation. More between peers, of sorts, just two people talking about something they share. As opposed to a Youtuber who makes a video about it with 100,000s of viewers. Because there are so many fewer voices, you lose the breadth of conversation too, narrowing to a small range of popular topics, and the distinction between You, and You as Your Brand gets eroded.
It's kinda notable in the autism sphere. Blogs where people talk about their experiences, how they dealt or didn't deal with things, have fallen off. Twitter came and went, and now there's Youtube and insta, where everything gets simplified down to a few slides or a 10 minute video about only the most basic aspects. Which is just... sad. I wouldn't have known that autistic burnout is a Thing many people struggle with if not for a blog post a friend came across and shared one day.
There was a comment from someone, a while ago, about how they used to have ASMR videos on, until they were able to get out into nature, and their desire for those videos completely disappeared. We're all very deprived. Of social contact, foremost. The pandemic poured gasoline on an already smoldering fire I feel. Latching onto someone 'famous' in a surrogate of social contact & context, like that person with their ASMR videos, feels like an understandable (though not good) outcome of that, which brings with it very regrettable excesses.
I think this is all pretty much a correct analysis, thank you! Though I would qualify that we have shifted away from the period of the Youtube mega content creator a social media ecosystem of intimate-seeming connections with smaller influencers, these days. Think of your Twitch streamers with a dedicated base of like 50-200 viewers per stream (and a Discord and a Patreon that supports them), the fitness Instagrams that sell meal plans online, the tarot witches and activist influencers offering one on one sessions, etc. Those communities can be more niche, but they still offer the illusion of a connection -- and if anything, that illusion is more strong because the creator is a "micro" famous person, and can take time to interact closely with fans here and there. We might already be heading out of that period of social media, though, especially with the disintegration of Twitter and the slow death of Meta's apps, too. I don't know what comes next but I hope we are due for a reappraisal of all of this, and the norms surrounding it.

WIP Wednesday: It's hard to be practical and pragmatic in this galaxy

If you've read The Hand of Thrawn Duology, you will know that Mara's search for Jorj Car'das results in data on how to get to a planet called Exocron. Since it's all a retcon, Zahn handwaves it with about three lines of set up in a dialogue exchange between Karrde and Lando while Mara is on Nirauan.
But she had to get that information somehow, so here's my supposition about how the journey to Exocron began, with information pulled from The Darkstryder Campaign- Kathol Outback via Wook.
“You found something then.” Karrde sounded relieved if still nonplussed as he grabbed two datapads off his desk. He handed one to me as I stood up holding one of the datacards.
Ghent continued to wriggle uncomfortably. He mumbled about things being impossible as Karrde and I pulled up the records.
What he’d found was a collection of star charts and entries in historical records, and also references in other texts: mythologies, religious ceremonies, folk tales.
I felt my brows knit together as Karrde continued to ask questions and Ghent only grew more flustered.
Then I stumbled across a verse, a holographic image that had clearly started life as vellum or nerf hide. The quatrain looked ancient.
I read aloud,
“The coveted haven of the precious vessel, In celestial realms of treach’rous spectro, None alight without doubtful wrestle –”
“– on the hidden world of Exo”
I glanced up at Karrde as he cut me off to finish the fabled verse. He looked at me, bemused, “it’s the Cothian Rubei”
“Kriff. We’re at a total dead end.” I flopped down on Karrde’s sofa next to Ghent, “Sithspawn. Two years and all we come up with is a crikking mythical planet!”
“Car’das was a philosophical sort,” Karrde mused, rubbing his chin.
“Deamos Na Coth wasn’t a philosopher, he was a madcap spiritualist.”
“Says the Jedi.”
“I’m not a Jedi!”
“Fine, you just use the Force sometimes.”
“That’s right, and don’t you forget it.”
“Mara, do you really think it’s impossible there’s some unexplored planet out there that resembles the lush green paradise of Exo?”
I stared down at the star charts and historical accounts in my hands. I’d read the stories of the expeditions to find Exo. They’d been led by a philosopher named Deamos-Na Coth in pre-Imperial times. The planet was supposed to be incredibly beautiful, a paradise available to those who knew where to seek it.
Most of the expeditions had been disasters with few ships ever returning. Those that were recovered had clearly been raided by bloodthirsty pirates and slavers, or had become sites of bitter mutinies. Most ships had disappeared forever, lost somewhere between the stars. It had been presented to me as foolish to try to find a mythical planet when there was a beautiful, glorious Empire to serve.
“Of course it’s possible." I conceded, "there’s any number of planets that could match that description: Naboo, Yavin, even Endor if your paradise includes Ewoks, but that’s the thing. He could be anywhere now.”
“Ghent’s digging seems to point to Kathol.”
“Oh of course, the Kathol Rift, where comms get inexplicably jammed, pilots go mad and pirates lie in wait to scavenge over the wreckage.”
“You don’t need to go in there, just pay a visit to the Kathol Republic and see what you can find out about the area.”
“You’re starting to sound desperate, Karrde.”
“You know I wouldn’t dare trust anyone else with this.”
I frowned. “I know.”

Magatsu derp-a-derp and the PS2 version
I'm even using a screenshot from the PS2 version gasp
When going through Yomotsu Hirasaka, Izanami speaks of her 3 chosen ones and says one of them gave himself up to something other than the truth, and magatsu corrupted his awakened power. Of course, we know this is referring to Adachi since well his dungeon is called "Magatsu" Inaba and his Persona is called "Magatsu" Izanagi. Magatsu is like saying disaster - it's referring to the icky stuff Izanagi picks up while he's in Yomi and later washes off and turns into gods named Ohomagatsuhi and Yasomagatsuhi. (My personal favorite is calling it Bad Vibes; this is why I'm not allowed to do anything.)
I think it gives the image that Adachi, like the protagonist, started with an Izanagi Persona, and, much like how your party members Personas evolve, Adachi's Izanagi became Dark and Edgy because of his own bullshit. Go figure.
But, hold on - in the PS2 version, you didn't actually know that Adachi's Persona was called Magatsu Izanagi lol. I think you'd still associate this line with Adachi because his dungeon is called "Magatsu" Inaba, but what about his Persona? When you fight Adachi, it only has his name on the analyze screen. He never calls Magatsu Izanagi by name when he uses skills, etc. It wasn't a Persona you could fuse, and there was no compendium entry.
Afaik, the only way you'd know Magatsu Izanagi's name was by going through the disc data where it had placeholder data as a Persona under the Fool Arcana with Soejima's un-rendered art, but I can't imagine a ton of people were capable of doing this:
There is also an unused voice line of Adachi saying Magatsu Izanagi, though it's unknown why it isn't used in the PS2 game.
Later, when the Design Works was released some 6mo after the game first came out, it also included Magatsu Izanagi's name, and I imagine that's where most Japanese fans picked up the name from:
Kinda strange to think about now that people do know its name and its included in Golden and all. φ(゜▽゜*)♪
When it comes to the English version, magatsu was seemingly translated as "evil". To be honest, I wonder if the localizers knew the >implications, or even knew what Adachi's Persona's name was supposed to be at the time? Based on an old interview, they had less time to work on P4 than P3 (even tho P4 had 1.5x the amt of text), so it does feel like a detail that would easily slip by.

Analyzing Invention: Jan-Aug 2024
We are now two-thirds through 2024. Each week, a new challenge has appeared as part of the Inventor's Fair, a Magic: the Gathering card design contest blog here on Tumblr.
For the uninitiated, each week, a design challenge is announced on the blog and members of the community create cards meeting the design specifications. At the end of the week, a few winners and runner-ups are selected from the submission.
So let's take a look at some of the trends so far this year - January through August.
Art. Katerina of Myra's Marvels. Illustrated by Gaboleps
The Contests
Through August, there have been 33 contests: 11 being led by @abelzumi, 10 being led by @spooky-bard, and the rest led by an assortment of judges (Note: there were 6 contest in which the judge didn't identify themselves).
Throughout these 33 contests, there have been 723 entries, spread over 110 unique participants. Of those participants, there have been 17 who have submitted at least 17 submissions (50+% participation). A special shout-out to @nine-effing-hells for their 33 submissions.
On average, there have been 22 participants per contest, with the highest being Common Wonders (30 participants) and the lowest being a tie between My Better Half, War Never* Changes and Spoiled for Choice (16 participants).
Fig. 1 - Line Graph of the Number of Entries Per Contest. Blue dots represent the number of entries for a contest, and the green line represents the 3-contest average.
The Submissions
As previously mentioned, there have been 723 unique entries (some of which had multiple designs, such as all the ones submitted for My Better Half).
In previous evaluations, we looked at all sorts of data: such as card types, mana value, and rarities. While prepping for this iteration, I asked what folks would like to see. The request: let's see some color breakdowns. So let's deep-dive!
Starting off, let's look at general color identities. If they are at least partial in the color, they'll be included here. In order:
Black: 232
Blue: 224
Red: 215
White: 211
Green: 156
Most of the colors are pretty close in the number of entries, except poor ol' green. This is the same from what we saw in the January-April update as well. (The order then was almost the exact same, with just blue and black swapping places).
The pattern is similar when we look at solely mono color entries, with Blue and Red swapping places:
Black: 91
Red: 87
Blue: 83
White: 80
Green: 55
Fig. 2 - Image of Kermit the Frog, with text saying "It's not easy bein' green".
Now let's dip into a well we haven't before: multi-color entries!
Based on our general color tendencies, you might think Dimir (blue-black) OR Rakdos (black-red) would be in the top spot. And while they do make a good showing (at #2 and #4 respectively), the top spot might surprise you:
Orzhov (W B): 35
Dimir (U B): 34
Izzet (U R): 30
Rakdos (B R): 26
Azorius (W U): 24
Boros (R W): 23
Simic (G U): 22
Gruul (R G): 20
Selesnya (G W): 16
Golgari (B G): 13
Unsurprisingly, all 4 green guilds were lowest on the list. I was surprised that Golgari was lowest though, with the general black designs being the most prominent.
For three colors, most of the 10 options are fairly close, between 3 and 5 entries each. The slight stand-out was Abzan (W B G) with 6. There has been only a single 4-color design, Atraxa's Command designed by @khyrberos (g w u b), and four 5-color designs.
There have also been 35 colorless cards designed. I'll give a note here on lands - since we are looking a color identity and not mana cost, many lands are in a color bucket, not just here in colorless land.
Well, that about sums things up for this time around. It's always cool to see everyone's submissions each week as part of the @inventors-fair! Y'all are awesome, and I can't wait to see what designs you come up with through the end of the year. And maybe, just maybe, think about adding some green :).
