I’m re-reading six of crows right now and Inej sneaks up behind a guard
“Please,” he moaned. “I-“
“I like it when men beg,” she said “But this isn’t the time for it”
I LOVE HER WITH ALL MY HEART

I love Inej Ghafa SO MUCH because she's proof you don't have to be a bitch to be a badass.
She's kind and compassionate and warm, while simultaneously being deadly and skilled and intimidating. The fact that she's written that way and very well received within the fandom makes me SO HAPPY.
Too often I see writers making their female characters mean and aggressive just to show that they're "strong". And I love that Inej is the exception to that.

controversial opinion but inej ghafa is literally terrifying and (obviously) such a queen.
like she literally held a stadwatch guard at knifepoint after creeping up on him and whispered (I don’t remember the exact quote) “I like it when men beg, but nows not the time” like??? Queen?????
And the end of the crooked kingdom where she cuts pekka rollins after threatening him, and switched alby’s toy lion with a crow?? Fucking terrifying?????
My love for inej knows no bounds and she is undeniably a powerful and scary woman

I absolutely adore that Kanej has the outward appearance of being a deep but reserved relationship when it's actually Kaz loving her absolutely ferally with no self control when it comes to her safety/well being and Inej demanding respect and honesty from him at the risk of scaring him off like the queen she is

makes me feral to remember that inej ghafa got her happy ending by reuniting with her parents and getting her own ship to enact her justice to make sure no one was ever hurt like she was again. and then it cuts to the epilogue where pekka rollins - who was gaslit into believing his son had been buried alive by kaz brekker - has his heart almost cut out by her as she threatens him to never come back to ketterdam.

Captain Ghafa headcannons
Kaz and Inej write letters to each other but the letters are in code and Inej rolls her eyes the first time Kaz suggests it but she secretly enjoys spending hours decoding Kaz’s letters
Inej calls the really young female crew members meja which means daughter in suli
They have a cat onboard which they name Sankt Nikolai because he protects the crew from mice
They have drinking contests
Inej and sturmhound are besties but absolute rivals in trickery
Sometimes the infamous DirtyHands Joins Captain Ghafa in her sea voyages
Sometimes Inej sneaks up on her crew just to scare them and she laughs every time
When the young men hit on or flirt with Inej and the other girls in the crew Specht gives the men a very stern talking to
When the children inejs rescues are struggling to sleep or having a panic attack Inej calms them down with suli folktales

i really don’t know what we did to deserve amita and freddy. their eyes in that last scene in the sanctuary, kaz’s breathing catching as he realizes what inej is telling him, the pain in inej’s eyes when kaz retracts his hand, kaz’s face crumpling as he lets go of that spark of hope when inej leaves and the dirtyhands face, his mask, going up again when she is out of that door. i am on my knees
