Why does my toddler keep climbing on everything?⁣ ⁣ It’s part of the ORIENTATION schema!⁣ They are learning about spatial awareness, force, weight, and the abilities of their body. They are building gross-motor skills and developing risk taking skills that will actually help prevent injuries as they get older. ⁣ ⁣ “So I just let them climb the 6 foot high bookshelf? Ok 😳?!”⁣ ⁣ No! There is actually developmental benefits to most of what children do everyday, all day. It’s just hard for a lot of adults to see that learning because it looks like mess and trouble to us. So in this case, you can provide opportunities for safe climbing. Children who are focused on the Positioning schema also tend to enjoy positioning other items so collections of things like blocks, peg people, little logs, even stuffies. They also tend to enjoy boxes as this schema is often combined with the Enveloping and/or Enclosing schemas, as well. ⁣ ⁣ If they are climbing to jump off, they may be more focused on the Trajectory schema so you can provide safe opportunities for jumping off and onto things, and safe items to throw. Warning, hard blocks are not always the best toy for a child focused on the trajectory schema so try to provide things that can be thrown instead of constantly trying to stop throwing.⁣ ⁣ 5 items that support these schemas that you can find around the house⁣ 1. Cardboard boxes, big and small⁣ 2. Rolled up socks 3. Pillows⁣ 4. Laundry baskets⁣ 5. Small towels⁣ ⁣ Want to learn more about toddlers? ✨Parenting with Spirit Guides✨ What does it actually mean when I say doing this parenting thing with my spirit guides? 😊 It’s like having someone by your side (who’s always on your side), ready to point out to you - to help you figure out that problem you’ve been facing in your day. They point out little things, and some big things. It brings you back to your awareness of yourself, and your surroundings. Telling you how and what to focus your attention on to find your answer. I need help with my children, teaching them how to stop playing with their iPad. I find myself yelling in frustration, and then I’m reminded to understand them, and guided to say the words that will encourage them to stop on their own. We teach them the how, the why. And then we leave it to them to consider it themselves. This is what it’s like having our spirit guides with us. ❤️ If you have questions, I can channel them answers. The last round was so empowering, it felt so good to find answers and help the parents to see their children and themselves better. 👏👏👏 The last free session is on Thursday 3 Nov, 11am AEST. It will be recorded and replay up for a limited time. Private sessions are also available if there are questions that you want answered in a personal space. Please ask to discuss. Please DM me or comment “Yes please” for an invitation. ❤️ #raisingconfidentkids #raisingconfidentchildren #gentleparenting #consciousparenting #intuitiveparenting #respecfulparenting #parenting #parentingkids #confidenceinkids #parentingguide #selfloveinkids #parentingwithspiritguides (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkRzbFdp6nl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Easter a few years ago in #nampaidaho . It was gorgeous! Who's going with me? 🙋‍♀️ #goals #dreams . Hopefully not a #triggerpost , how does everyone feel about kissing your kids/grandkids on the lips? I always thought it seemed weird and inappropriate but when this pic showed up in my feed I was reminded that in that pure, beautiful moment as a mother, it felt natural. 🤷‍♀️💓 . #kissyourkids #lipkiss #yesorno #weirdornot #naturalornot #norgoodnorbad #nomoremomshaming #dowhatfeelsright #inyourheart #higherselfhealing #5dforparents #5dforteachers #5dforrelationships #intuitiveparenting #heartcentered #loveandlogic #balancedchild #curriculum #school #tba #thejoysofchildhood #findyourinnerchild #innocentlove #puremotherdaughterlove (at Nampa, Idaho) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNy14KjlQq_/?igshid=zle0reehgh76

“Your child does not need a “happy mom.” They need a REAL parent. One with a range of emotions. One that feels comfortable to express those emotions and then models how to process those emotions, without guilt or shame. Grant yourself the same grace and forgiveness you give your child. You both deserve to be human.” J. Milburn Edited to clarify: this quote is not meant to be interpreted as “be miserable all the time.” Personally, through therapy I have learned that the pursuit of eternal happiness is futile and often leaves us unfulfilled. It also glorifies this concept that a purely happy life is attainable and it is not. There will always be ups and downs. The more children see that these ups and downs are normal and healthy ways to cope with them, the more emotionally intelligent they will become. For me, I am so much happier now that I’ve stopped trying to be happier all the time. It’s about authenticity and emotional intelligence, not advocating for living unhappily. #responsiveparenting #peacefulparenting #peacefulparent #gentleparent #gentleparenting #attachmentparenting #attachment #attachmenttheory #motherhood #parenthood #childdevelopment #childdevelopmentspecialist #parenting #parent #childhood #momlife #familytime #closefamily #intuitiveparenting #instinctualparenting #mindfulparenting #mindfulmama #parentmentalhealth #mamasmentalhealth #realparenting #realparents https://www.instagram.com/p/CPLMT_RHyIq/?utm_medium=tumblr

✨Parenting with Spirit Guides II✨ best thing about pickup is hearing their stories about the day, seeing and listening to what they’ve made. I ask what inspired them, what they were thinking and how it makes me feel - happy or cheerful. rarely do I say how proud I am. (I am super proud by the way!) ✨ why I don’t say I’m proud - I want to encourage them to create, explore and play for themselves, that does not involve my opinion. We want them to do because they’re interested or curious about it. this then translates into an adult who creates and decides based on their own thoughts and opinions. not someone who seeks approval to feel that it’s a success. This is one of the many reasons why I parent with my Spirit Guides. So that I know better. And I can do better. This is a message from my Spirit Guides: “We understand that you may think that guiding your children to find their purpose in life is simple. It isn’t easy, but if you throw it all at them - a chance to study well, learn all that they can, ballet, play the piano and martial arts. All of these will set them up on a path for success. But in actual fact, it is the little things that will set them up. How they react in the face of disappointment, how do they attempt to fit into a new environment and find their own space. How will they decide on a new adventure, what new experiences should they choose. What shall they learn? All of these are very important life skills that a child should learn to grow in them. As these are the life skills that will guide them through life. What you do when you face challenges determines who you are. And you would want the same for your children. This is why you learn to do better. To guide them well. This is why you are here. We are complete.” I’m having one more free session on Thursday, 3 Nov 2022 11am AWST. If you find the answers to be useful, I’d appreciate a testimonial. It will be replayed for the week. Please DM me for an invitation. 😊 #raisingconfidentkids #gentleparenting #consciousparenting #intuitiveparenting #respecfulparenting #parenting #parentingkids #confidenceinkids #parentingguide #parentingwithspiritguides (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkNtAFDpD4o/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

We are all experiencing a level of trauma right now. Even if you feel like you are doing well. You are coping well with a global trauma. Something that changes the world so significantly, in such a short time, can be scary. This may be helpful for those who are wondering how to support our children during this time: “When you are a parent of a traumatized child, I think the natural instinct is to protect them from the world. However, this will only reinforce the message that the world is a place to be feared. Instead of surrounding your child with anxiety, fear, worry and doubt, surround them with support, a sense of security and unconditional love and acceptance. When a child knows they are safe at home, they can begin to feel safe in the world again.” J. “Although being a parent is the greatest joy of my life, if I must be completely honest, it is so much harder than I ever thought it would be. I thought it would come naturally, because I had always longed for the day I got to become someone’s mom. But what I realized was, I was so detached from my own inner voice, my own needs, that it was next to impossible to understand what my child needed from me. I had to reconnect with my inner child before I could make sense of, or have the strength to really dive into motherhood. But when I did, I became the person I was always meant to be.” J.
