gd one of the Worst Posts ive read on a tumblr blog of an ostensible leftist was some Absolute Cunt (slurways, insult, not compliment) who was mocking that reddit post about the irish teenager who greets other gaelic irish in gaelic and encourages them to learn their own language and shames them if they get mad at her for speaking irsih in ireland. the op was like ummmm so your just being confusing on purpose to preserve some white language 🙄 (op was white i am almost certain) . like do you think that about all violently supressed indigenous languages or just the ones you think you can get away with denigrating

James Hook’s story (part 2)

James arrived at Neverland at the age of 25. He was a brilliant and handsome young man, good with ladies and good with his crew. His men were particular interesting people, coming from all the globe: Starkey was his second in comand, Billy Jukes with tattoos all over his body, Nigeriano a big man from Africa, Cecco the italian swordman and more. There were all kind of ages and cultures: the youngest one was only eighteen when they entered in Neverland and his name was Louis, a little boy from a french mother and a turkish father; the oldest one was 60 yrs old and it was the nostrome mr Smeelinght, called by every one mr Smee, he was from Ireland and his nose was always red for the much drinking. The Jolly Roger was know for his two great doctors, not afraid of the strange blood of the captain: dr. Markus Wolf, a 40 yrs old man from Germany, and dr. Julian Devorak, a younger doctor at the same age of James, with the particularity of his heigth (6’2 feets) and his eyepack. None knew where he came from but he was a great doctor. It’s best to come back to our story... When the Jolly Roger arrived at Neverland, all the crew’s men understood that on the island it was somenthing different. In need of supplies and wood for some kind of repair, James split his crew and went to explore the strange island. The forest was full of tall trees and esotic animals, more like the Carribean islands, but the air was different and some sort of magic was all around of them. James have the sensation that he was kinda followed but he thought that was just his immagination tricking him. But it wasn’t his immagination: a little boy dressed only in leaves and cobwebs was following the group. The crew unknow of the following danger continued the exploration and a lovely sound catches their ears: music, so melodic and calming was calling them into the forest. They followed enchanted by such sound, arriving at a plain surrounded by trees with a spring in the middle of it. All around where strange creatures dancing and singing: pans, fairies and lovely ladies dressed in withe and silver with blonde or red hair. The crew was stunned by that vision and enter more in the plain. James had eyes only for one figure: a beautiful woman with long raven hair and amethyst eyes, pale skin, and on her head a crown of flowers and shrubbery. Near her there was a pan with deer horns and golden eyes. The woman smiled and came closer to James that felt the urge to bow to her. “Welcome strangers to Tír na nÓg, or like the humans like to call it Neverland.” James at that words smiled wild: they found not the fountain but the island of Youth. In english folk was called Avalon, in irsih Tír na nÓg and in a more religiuos way The Heaven on earth. The creatures offered them food, wine and lovely songs. The half crew was happy and tried to convice their captain to call their mates. James waved a hand to calm them down and to enjoy the beauty of the moment. The crew wasn’t aware of his growing greed inside his soul. He wanted to undersand more about the island and started to talk with the fair lady. Her name was Titania queen of the Faeries and the hybrid near her was her husband, King Oberon. Titania explained to the young pirate how the island work, and that the spring contained itself the water of knowlege and youth. James wanted to drink but Titania stop him talking about the fact that the water was to strong for such innocent mind like the human ones and it could be dangerous to drink it. But James wouldn’t listen, and when the night falls and everyone was asleep he steal a silver cup and took some water in it. He was almost drinking it but was stopped by the young boy who followed them in the morning. He gave the allarm and black dogs of the Queen tried to catch James and his mates which terrified run back to the ship. But such insult to the Faeries was enough for a punishment and the little boy was sent to do such job. The boy’s name was Peter Pan and he had the hability to fly. He challenged James to fight...

I don’t own the story of Peter Pan but I’m trying to write somenthing that explain how Hook arrived and why he lost his hand. Hope you like it and soon will come the third part ❤️

Hey! I’m Irish and Samhain was the name of the festival for the celts, before it became Halloween. If you give it a quick google you’ll find plenty of evidence to back that up! Language is fairly versatile, words have plenty of different meanings :)

Not really though.

I’m an fluent Irish speaker who’s studied mythology and the history of the Irsih language and there are no “Celtic” festivals. There are countries with Celtic languages (Irish, Scottish Gaidhlig, Welsh, Bretan, etc.) all of which have different if sometimes similar festivals. Oíche Shamhna isn’t a Celtic festival it’s a Gaelic festival (Ireland and Scotland). 

lol a “quick google” might give you all sorts of mystical Celtic reconstructionist bollox but it doesn’t change the language.
