June Empties.

This has been a very strange month- had Covid halfway through it & that week was like a fever dream. Empties wise, there isn't much new.

Got the usual suspects- the same face sunscreen, eye primer & hyaluronic acid. However there's 4 which I haven't reviewed & 3 of them were new to me.

Burt's Bees Orange Blossom & Pistachio lip butter:

This was lovely to use. My lips get dry really easily & it helped fix that. Used this in the morning & at night & I used it whilst 'slugging' my lips. The smell reminded me of Terry's Chocolate Orange & it tasted nice too.

Elf Skin Superhydrate Gel Moisturiser:

I was originally looking for the gel moisturiser that I have mentioned on here before at TK Maxx & came across this instead. I have used Elf Makeup before but never their skin care range. This was a pleasure to use- it's perfect for summer as its so lightweight, it's superhydrating & it left my skin feeling super soft. I was gutted to find out it's been discontinued, but I decided to another gel moisturiser by Elf, which is so far brilliant. There is also no scent to this one & it doesn't pill up either.

Soap & Glory Fresh As Fig Refreshing Body Wash:

Its no secret that I love Soap & Glory products. This is limited edition for 2024 & it has a nice fresh floral and fruity scent. It lathers up well, & doesn't dry out your skin.

Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion:

I have used this for years. It's kind to skin, doesn't leave it feeling tight, cleanses well...there isn't really that much to say about it.

And that's it for another month. I seem to possibly have more empties for July, so we'll see.

June of doom 2 - "I'm worried about you"

Infection | Protective | Confession (not the romantic kind though so idk if it counts)

"I'm disappointed in you, Hero." Superhero's voice, which was usually so rich and warm, was tired and rough. Hero tried to ignore the sting they felt in their chest. Instead they cleared their throat and avoided eye contact, their gaze roaming around the abandoned warehouse Superhero dragged them into.

"I can't imagine why," they fixed their eyes on a crack on the wall, "I save your sorry ass and this is the thanks I get. So typical of you."

Superhero ignored the blatant disrespect. "You deliberately disobeyed my orders."

"What orders?" Hero scoffed.

"You were supposed to stay put." Their superior's voice echoed loudly, a grating voice in Hero's ears. "Your orders were clear. You were to wait for my fucking signal. You were to stay hidden. You were not to attract attention to yourself. You were never supposed to be in the field. Not in this particular mission."

"Why?" Hero couldn't help huffing out a humourless laugh. "Because of Supervillain?"

"YES, BECAUSE OF SUPERVILLAIN!"

Hero flinched. Both they and Superhero were surprised by the sudden outburst. The usual perfect image that Superhero so carefully maintained, even when it was just the two of them, was broken. In front of Hero stood a trembling figure, from anger or fear, they did not know, with disheveled hair and tired, red eyes, possibly from all the sleepless nights. Their tall figure, usually held straight, towered over Hero, who just now noticed how big and intimidating their mentor actually was.

They stood like that for a few moments that seemed to last for eternity, until Superhero realized how harshly they were breathing. They leaned back and ran a hand through uncombed hair, not meeting Hero in the eye.

Hero's mouth felt dry. "Why..." they croaked, their throat suddenly tight, "Why are you..."

"Hm?"

"Why are you like this?" Superhero raised an eyebrow. Their eyes widened slightly at Hero's teary eyes. Hero gulped and continued, their voice wavering. "Why are you pretending you're worried about me?"

"I am worried about you!" Superhero looked like Hero was being the unreasonable one here. It pissed them off. "Hero, I'm... I'm always worried about you."

"Don't give me that crap!" Hero shouted, their face hot and their tears even hotter. Superhero looked shocked. That only pissed them off more. "You were not worried when you trained me until my bones broke and my ribs cracked. You weren't worried when you abandoned me on my first ever mission, leaving me to face Villain alone. You weren't worried when I left on countless missions where I came back with my spirit shattered and with blood on my hands." They took a shaky breath, locking eyes with their usually aloof superior, who had a very strange look on their face. "And you're certainly not worried about me now."

Hero took a small defiant step forward and Superhero a smaller step back. "Admit it." Hero spat with venom. "The only thing you're worried about is your pride."

They panted, feeling big fat droplets of tears on their face. Superhero was eerily silent, with a very odd look on their eyes. Then...

"Is that what you really think of me," their voice was so broken, Hero thought they were imagining it, "Hero?"

Hero blinked. Superhero continued. "Hero I... I care about you. All those things I did, I did it to prepare you for all the dangers this job comes with."

"Then why never show it!?" Hero's voice cracked.

"To protect you!" Superhero sounded both desperate and authoritative. "If I went with you on your first mission it would've attracted more dangerous criminals than what you're facing right now! Criminals that want to get to me! I had to keep you at arms length at all times, less some spy or villain noticed I was starting to care about you!"

Hero only stared shocked as their mentor's eyes filled with tears. Superhero. Crying. Because of them.

"Hero," Superhero looked like a normal civilian then, so small despite their size, so vulnerable, "Hero, you're like a..." their voice trailed off. Hero waited.

"You're like family to me."

And Hero couldn't take it anymore. Their breath hitched as they hunched forward, tears blurring their vision as they sobbed. They felt a warm, gentle hand on their shoulder.

"Whatever I did, all those times I went too rough on you, all those time I ignored you or abandoned you, just know, Hero," Superhero's free hand cradled Hero's cheek, wiping their tears with a thumb. Their face was as teary as Hero's. "I never meant to hurt you."

They slowly wrapped their arms around the smaller hero, hesitantly and when Hero moved closer they held them tight against their chest, stroking their back slowly. Hero's body shuddered and convulsed at every sob they let out, hands clasping tight their mentor's shirt. "I'm sorry." They heard Superhero whisper in their ear, their voice raw. "Please, please, forgive me."

Hero chocked. Superhero's hold on them tightened. "Please."

They stayed like that for a while. Hero was positive their mentor's shirt was sogged with their tears by now. How embarrassing.

"You two are so cute." A cold voice was heard behind Superhero suddenly. Both heroes tensed.

Hero's heart pounded wildly and they felt Superhero tighten their hold before releasing them from their hug. They straightened their back and kept both hands on Hero's shoulders instead. Their face was back to their usually stoic and guarded one, as if they were not crying just a second ago. It was concerning how fast they managed that.

"Supervillain." Superhero greeted, their voice betraying nothing. They gave Hero's shoulders a small squeeze before turning their back on them, facing Supervillain. "It's not like you to lurk around abandoned warehouses."

"There's always a first time for everything, honey." Supervillain's voice drawled in a playful manner, but Hero could've sworn they heard something else in their voice. Bitterness? Superhero didn't answer, keeping Hero behind them.

Hero wiped their remaining tears quickly, stepping slightly beside Hero so they could see their enemy. Supervillain caught their eye and grinned. Hero refused to flinch. How long have they been there? Hero wondered, hands turned to fists.

"So..." Supervillain turned their predatory gaze towards Superhero. "Hero's like family to you, huh?"

Wild Kratts Live - Experience & Thoughts

Just came back from Wild Kratts Live 2.0: Activate Creature Power today. After over a decade of YouTube bootlegs and being on the outside looking in, I managed to finally score a ticket to the live show in Saint Louis. The 9 month-wait was both very long and very short at the same time, but it’s was worth it in the end.

I managed to record a lot, and I do mean a LOT of the footage, but not only are the recordings not in the best quality, but there are too many of them, of too varying length to compress them all into this one post. So much like with the Mufasa: The Lion King live-blog here’s just an assortment of thoughts of mine. Below the cut

During the brief period before the show started and during the interval, there were a lot of slideshows containing creature facts and merch. During that slideshow, there was a bunch of background tracks from the main series playing which was cathartic as hell. This was the closest I’d ever get to actually hearing a few HQ tracks without isolating them. Again, I couldn’t record them because there was no way I could get it in perfect quality, one of those, you HAD to be there things.

There were a lot of kids at the show wearing WK shirts and vest, it was so sweet. One kid was even holding a plushie of Zooboomafoo (yes THAT Zooboomafoo). I obviously thought of that Adam Sandler meme (you probably know which one given this scenario I’m enlisting) but it was above all else, genuinely heartwarming seeing so many kids and their families coming to see this show. Even if I’m not in the show’s target audience anymore, it’s not lost to me just how well this show connects with kids. It makes it even more disheartening given how PBS is being defunded in the new presidency, because that’s over a decade and a half’s worth of this show’s progressive education and interaction at stake (that being said, hearing the news of PBS suing the Trump administration on the SAME weekend that WK live came out was nothing short of cathartic).

On a side-note, I noticed some teens my age who were also at the show. And someone from the other post mentioned it but I managed to meet @doink-boink there as well in person. We just so happened to go to the show happening in the same theater on the same weekend at the same time, and after communicating on our socials, we easily took advantage of that opportunity to see each other. It was amazing. We were both in awe at what we saw and somewhat processing the reality thereof. Utter joy. I was still trying to process the whole thing during the car ride home, but… yeah it happened. And I love it.

The basic story is that Chris and Martin want to activate their Creature Powers, especially Cheetah Powers in front of the audience, but loose their discs in the tall grass. So they miniaturize down to find them. But they have to use their Creature Powers to save their discs from the Zachbots, who were sent by Zach to find and destroy the discs. Sounds like a typical episode, but they make the most out of this seemingly basic premise to make it off-the-wall fun. The best I can describe WK live is like a live action remake of a WK episode, and ironically so much better than Disney or Dreamworks’ live-action remakes lmao. The Kratt Brothers jump out of the animation in their typical “What If?!” fashion and they act the hell out of their roles, if that’s not a sign of how much advantage they take of the work they’re dealing with, I don’t know what is.

There were a lot of moments in the show where animation from the series proper was recycled, but I didn’t mind. It honestly felt like I was watching a clip show, really enticing. At the same time, there were a lot of animation pieces designed specifically for the live show, such as the bits with the crew, the cutaways featuring Zach, the scene with the mini Kratt brothers returning to the Miniaturizer and the activation sequences.

Oh yeah THE ACTIVATION SEQUENCES. They are FUCKING AWESOME. They’re very lengthy and detailed, the meta explanation is to give the actors time to get into their physical IRL suits. But still, it is awesome. Seeing it in person was ethereal. The shots of the arms, legs, chest, and head transforming into the suit, the full background score, and the shading is everything I’ve wanted to see in a theatrical-esque Wild Kratts production. I hope they do something like this for the actual feature film!

Lots of funny moments in the show that genuinely made me laugh out loud. Martin getting chased by a bee that wants to steal his lollipop, Chris catching him in his Mantis Suit, Martin hiding in his boot, it was just funny as shit. The running gag where Zach bumps into the camera especially got me. Also everyone in the audience (largely kids) were booing Zach EVERY time he appeared, it was so hilarious.

Even in all of the silly fun stuff, they still manage to be educational about animals and tie it into the plot, both with and without callbacks to the series proper. It was just, nice. This is definitely something that I would’ve absolutely adored at the age of 9 when the live show originally came out. I’m 19 and I STILL find it charming.

There’s a lot in the live show that outright inspires elements in episodes of the series proper. During the activation sequences, there’s a spinner that points to the animal of which the suit is activating upon. This is shown in both S6 and S7. When the brothers collect and show their Creature Power Discs, there’s an animated slideshow of the brothers in their suits next to the animals, in a similar manner to that in the Halloween special (minus the actual disc). And of course, there’s a Creature Power Suit malfunction that connects the Kratt Brothers together in a rattlesnake body, not unlike their Cat-Dog Power Suit in the S6 finale. It’s the good shit.

One thing that confused me is where [in-universe] the Kratt Brothers were. Because they activate Praying Mantis, Rattlesnake, Hermit Crab, and Cheetah Powers, by touching those animals. Cheetahs, Mantis, and even Hermit Crabs do live in Africa, but Rattlesnakes only live in the Americas. I read they’re an invasive species in South Africa, but that still doesn’t add up. Probably thinking too much about this, am I?

I was screaming like a banshee every time the audience cheered, no regrets.

I also sang the theme song when it was playing, ALSO no regrets!

And now for the part where some of you are probably waiting for. For those who don’t know, at the end of each live show, the Kratt Brothers make announcements about episodes of Wild Kratts that are currently in production around the time of said show; The number of episodes they are making, the animals featuring in those episodes, and the Creature Power Suits that’ll appear. This was what I was arguably excited for the most, mainly because, according to animator Ryan Hopkins, and a current.org article, the ongoing 7th season of Wild Kratts is a 20-episode season that’ll conclude in 2025 bring the overall series to 178 episodes.

Anyways, at the end of the live show, Chris and Martin announced that they are currently finishing up four new episodes, including the Season 7 finale that’ll premiere on PBS Kids. The final four episodes of the season will feature the fish-eating loon, the African leopard, the tree frog, and the armadillo, with Creature Power Suits based on those respective animals. I was aware of the leopard, armadillo, and loon episode from bootlegs of previous shows, but the tree frog one surprised me. I recognized those animals from Go Diego Go, so seeing them in Wild Kratts will be really sweet. I hope it’s red-eyed.

Also, someone in the Discord server mentioned this, but the primary cause for endangerment to tree frogs is habitat loss via poaching. This could be a good way to bring Rex back after his absence from the double-episodes. Include him as a villain out to destroy the tree frogs’ habitat, only to have the Kratts and Paisley stop him, then give him actual closure, either have him remain a solo villain, or redeem himself and join Paisley. Once again, Paisley’s betrayal opens up a lot of loose ends and story potential (the two main factors being the fate of Rex, and the eventual face-off between Zach, Donita & Gourmand vs. Paisley). I’m hoping that the arc is wrapped up before the finale, in order to give time for a new ‘status quo’ with S8. Crossing my fingers!!

Also, Martin Kratt gave information in a previous interview surrounding the armadillo episode, in which Chris and Martin compete against Zach Varmitech in a bowling competition, using their Creature Power Suits. Which is already a funny premise. I anticipate this episode a lot because there’s a lot of interesting things about armadillos, the biggest and most relevant is how they’re migrating to midwestern North America due to climate change. They’re not considered an invasive species and can perfectly co-exist with the flora and fauna of their new environments, but their main threat is cars and vehicles, as many have been found dead on the road. I don’t fully expect them to dive that deep into it, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they touched upon that subject manner a bit, maybe in the live-action segments.

I know the whole “Wild Kratts fan/viewer-to-avid-online-furry-pipeline” joke is one that’s been repeated verbatim and is one of the top 5 popular online talking points when it comes to this show, both from ongoing viewers and from people who haven’t interacted with the show in years (and tbf, I don’t mind that joke much cause c’mon) - but the Creature Power Suits that the IRL brothers wear would make FANTASTIC cosplays. The day that they sell the toy Creature Power Vest and Suits in adult size is the day the earth SHAKES.

Two weeks ago, the VIP tickets for the May 28-June 1 tour were on giveaway. I obviously entered my name but didn’t get the email so I didn’t win the raffle. Sucks, but it was still fun.

I'm confused you know since Cheritz says, its based your day 1 to ending choices, some players says only last day choices matters but you see, I got Henri's Healing Heart (weird since I remember choosing options about June) first but I actually skip day 21-29. I was on day 20 bedtime and time travel to day 30 bedtime... I time travel back to day 21 and continue to play. This time I got the Love triangle. As for the comedian? I simply redid day 30 and choose different options.

As for June, first I got Love Coach. (Probably because I kept on choosing options about Henri?). Redid day 60 and got Painting Debut. Redid day 60 again, this time I got Digital Artist.

I have just finish squeeing over your June x Pharma posts and I have to ask,

What is your take on Pharma in the tfp verse and his relationship with Ratchet?

I haven't rewatch tfp in awhile but I think I remember tfp Ratchet has very rosie glasses on when it comes to life before the war

I'm low-key digging them, too.

Overall, I do like the idea that TFP Pharma and Ratchet have a similar flavor relationship like in IDW. Down to Pharma yearning for the old ambulance.

Big difference is that Pharma does have a more stable support system in TFP before the civil war, so he has true friends that heckle at his taste, especially since they can see that Pharma is far more into the relationship than Ratchet is.

If we're talking about the idea where June Darby got isekai'd into TFP from a different Earth, then it would take them over a solid decade to actually go on a date.

Slow-burn in human standpoint, but downright infatuation by Cybertronian.

Not only emphasizes the cultural divide, but also highlights June's newfound agelessness and their continous efforts to figure out Elsewhere and what they want if they can't go back home. Especially since Elsewhere has its own quirks when it comes to time.

When Ratchet and Pharma meet up again in that verse... it would turn messy after the initial joy.

Pharma is essentially stranded in a dead zone with no way out. He was declared MIA, presumed dead. Not only is he alive, but he's well-treated. He has a job with housing, fuel, and a very close approximation to his favorite smokes. He has leisure and rest. This Pharma never went to Delphi, nor was he hunted down. Instead, he got thrown into an organization that deals with a wide variety of magical and supernatural entities. He hasn't seen another Cybertronian in ages, especially since Pharma primarily works in an area that constantly warps time and space, so his bio-signal was never picked up by the initial survivors of the Ark.

Pharma is basically an example of Rip Van Wrinkle/"he stolen by the faeries" cautionary tale.

Ratchet and Pharma often think about Cybertron but have opposite feelings about the Golden Age, and neither of them are quiet about said feelings. And that will rip out very raw emotions.

We're quite literally LESS than three days away from Chapters 3 & 4, so here's a little bit of a weird route retrospective from yours truly lol

I tend not to watch anything related to the weird route, and I just remembered WHY I don't, because I recently watched Snapcube play through Deltarune and then the weird route.

I could never fucking do it because Kris and Noelle'a little adventure in Cyber City and the fun they have and the fact that they slowly start reconnecting after so long? Yeah that shit is my FAVOURITE part of chapter 2.

I love all the memories of their childhood they reminisce on. I love how Kris teaches Noelle how to ACT, and dress up in silly costumes!

I love how they can joke around with each other. Like Kris teases her with the "No triple trucies" joke, and they can ask Noelle for dog treats and howl like a dog. If you check the Berdly statue over and over again Kris supposedly looks at it from all angles just to mess with Noelle playfully.

Noelle also jokes around with Kris back, suggesting the dog treat and telling them to "stay". If you leave the mouse puzzle room over and over again, she calls them "Merry Krismas", a cute nickname that Rudy uses in both chapters. (I swear if it turns out that the whole holiday family including Dess and even Mayor Holiday calls them that I'm gonna explode-)

They also have quiet moments, it feels like they know each other better than anyone, they used to go exploring, had a fear/fascination with ICEE.

And even outside chapter 2, Noelle always offers Kris pencils, helps them with their homework, even took out time to get stuff ready to help them. Kris in Cyber City, does tease her a lot, but protects her from Queen everytime, usually without our input.

And there's more sad interactions that aren't weird route exclusive. There's the whole December puzzle, and the fact that out of everyone, so far, Noelle is the only one who notices something off about Kris lately...

Even in a normal route, you can accidently almost zap Noelle with the puzzle, and upon trying to prank them back, thinking it was a joke, Kris is VISIBLY upset. Because of you, Kris could have gotten Noelle hurt.

There's MANY dynamics between characters in future chapters that I'm excited to see develop, like Kris and Susie's whole thing and how the player will shake it up, or how Kris starts to treat Ralsei as they uncover more of the truth.

But no doubt my favourite is seeing Noelle and Kris reconnecting, after supposedly... everything in their lives went to shit. After Dess disappearing, and Kris' parents divorcing.

I so badly want them to be close friends again cause it's so sweet and my favourite dynamic in Deltarune so far.

That's why the weird route is hard for me to watch. Even after everything that happens, Noelle still realises that something is wrong, that's there's something... a voice unlike Kris', talking to her.

Kris knows now that Noelle is scared of them... and that's no doubt gonna mess with them.

Kris calls for help... but nobody came.

Until you whisper Noelle's name...
