Inverse Mermaid Tourism
I've wanted to experiment with my work for a while, so I made characters and put them into photos I found online. I'll try my best to cite the images properly!

So I just found the original script of Gunpowder Milkshake and the fact that Scarlet and Anna May were so explicitly gay in it but it was all cut makes me so sad/angry.
I do understand why in the final version Anna May didn't forgive Scarlet so quickly. I think in that short amount of time it makes more sense for her to stay bitter a bit longer as she did in the movie but lord WE COULD'VE HAD A NECK KISS

I really hope we will still get that sequel and this last scene will be part of it. We deserve explicit ScarletMay 🥺 we deserve to see them kiss
Link to full script here
Image IDs under the cut
[Image ID 1: SCARLET: There’s a pretty good chance they’ll shoot me on sight.
EVA: I’m willing to take that chance.
SCARLET: I’m serious.
EVA: Ma, they’re your oldest friends. More than that, in some cases.
SCARLET: (heartbroken) I don’t think we’re friends anymore.]
[Image ID 2: Anna May, rifle in hand, is about to climb in the passenger seat. Scarlet walks over to her. Anna May looks away.
SCARLET: I have to go help her.
ANNA MAY: And you need my permission?
SCARLET: I can’t bail on her again.
ANNA MAY: Why? You’ve gotten pretty good at it.
SCARLET: I thought I was doing the right thing. For her.
Anna May lets out a breath, letting go of fifteen years of anger. She turns to Scarlet.
ANNA MAY: You were doing the right thing.
SCARLET: (surprised) What?
ANNA MAY: I mean look at this place. That’s no way to raise a kid.
Scarlet is overwhelmed. There are so many things she wants to tell Anna May.
SCARLET: I missed you.
ANNA MAY: (in a good way) Oh, fudge you.
SCARLET: Fudge you.
Anna May takes Scarlet’s hand.
ANNA MAY: Just meet us at the diner. Come back in one piece, OK? Both of you.
Scarlet nods and lets go of Anna May’s hand. She takes one last look at Emily and turns away.
ANNA MAY (CONT’D): Wait.
Anna May pulls an ornate wooden box from the van. She hands it to Scarlet.
ANNA MAY (CONT’D): I kept the girls ready for you.
Scarlet opens the box. Inside it sit TWO BEAUTIFUL IDENTICAL HANDGUNS. White, etched with floral engravings. A gorgeous song starts playing. DAUGHTER’s YOUTH. It’s the only thing we hear as -
A SLOW MOTION SEQUENCE BEGINS]
[Image ID 3: INT. THE CABIN’S LIVING ROOM - MORNING WE FOLLOW Eva as she walks downstairs. She peeks into the living room and sees:
Anna May sits at a table, reading a book. Scarlet walks out of the kitchen. One hand in a splint, the other holding a cup of coffee. She walks over to Anna May and hugs her from behind. They move together to music coming from a nearby radio. Scarlet kisses Anna May’s neck.
EVA: Will you two get a room?
The two women laugh.
SCARLET: Oh, please. You’ve seen worse.
FLORENCE (O.S.): God knows I have.]

Cyanide Poisoning
A librarian in his thirties gets hired on Sunday, but his life ends on Saturday... That is because of the ink he has been consuming unintentionally during his shifts. And with each day passing, he becomes more and more colorblind, and if that isn't enough a monster is chasing him. Throughout the week, these encounters become more common... Foreshadowing for how they died from cyanide poisoning (title drop!) due to overconsumption of ink, which been triggering hallucinations.
This ink has been found throughout the entire digestive track, with his organs being stained black, but strangely only his eye color changed in his appearance. This, was the autopsy report summary.

played the best game of blood on the clocktower yesterday and i'm still giddy thinking about it
#i'm not gonna post the screenshot of the grim but trust me when i say it was GOOD#the main things with the script were 1. leviathan and 2. the possibility of heretic#i was so nervous bc i was the assassin and i didn't know who the rest of the evils were bc of poppygrower#day 1 a player comes out publicly as leviathan. we call their bet and nominate them for exe and get the votes to do it#he panics and nominate someone else. who turns out to be the virgin. so her ability activates and he dies.#im already relieved about this bc it means the good team has wasted their one non-evil execution. and then the storyteller comes to me#and tells me who my evil team is. because that player was the poppygrower doing an absolute chaos play#so day 2 i talk to my fellow minion. hes the mastermind. theres also a scarlet woman on the script. i realize i need to push the sw world#bc if they get the demon on day 5 and we go to day 6 without evil winning the good team will know its bc of a mastermind#so i start pushing for executing on day 4 so if town does get the demon town doesnt know what kind of day 5 they have#id already hardclaimed artist to the virgin b4 i got the bluffs. someone else is already claiming artist so we both look sus#i use my assassin ability that night to kill someone who claimed balloonist/amne bc i dont want to risk the balloonist learning the demon#day 3 the actual artist comes out and has info that points to one of 3 people including my demon. i say IM the artist saving my ability#but it turns out someone else is an invest whos seen me as assassin#day 4 i realize that absolutely no one trusts me. so i decide to try to use it to my advantage by doublebluffing them#i tell town that ive used my artist ability to find out that theres no scarlet woman in play so we shouldnt execute today#no one believes me so they set their sights on my demon#my fellow minion pretends to slayer shot the demon and im worried that he gave himself away as evil#but it turns out that the mutant had been claiming librarian and lying that the other minion WAS the mutant#so everyone still thought the other minion was good. so even though the town executed the demon we went for another day#day 5 i tell everyone that we must be in a mastermind world and we shouldnt execute. no one believes me.#town ends up nominating someone and i dont totally get their reasoning but it goes through. and evil wins :D#this wall of text makes NO sense if you havent played blood on the clocktower lol

well. I definitely implied (borderline stated) the author of the book was a dumbass, so we shall see whether my professor takes that as me implying HE’S a dumbass for making the assignment. It’s not the first time I’ve written an essay aggressively disagreeing with the prompt the entire time but it’s been a while
Im fine writing this essay saying “this book is corporate propaganda but also really bad at it” even though that isnt the prompt, the problem is idk how to do that without implicitly or explicitly calling my professor a dumbass
#also tragically held back by the page limit#i couldnt even bring up how the author provided a script to use to peer pressure/bully people who criticise the book#and that you can see it in action on goodreads#i had SO many more great criticisms that i couldnt get to :(#ecdysing#moss goes to school#lets see how soon i get this grade back#because also never forget this program is kind of a joke#like i was talking with one of the librarians about it yesterday who went through it too#and she said all the same things i am feeling

Cult AU but König's always been devoted to you, even at a young age.
Whereas the rest of the children would be picking at the dirt looking for worms or playing with a ball, König would find himself in the library, reading over the Script—the holy book of the cult, like their cursed version of the Bible—and memorizing every word. He looked up to you, their Lord and Savior, the holiest of deities, picking their little community as your main followers.
He wants to become close to you, wants to become your most devoted follower. Instead of choosing to become a hunter or a nurse or a farmer or a cook or a seamstress or a librarian or whatever other role there is, instead of choosing to become a guard, which should've been the most obvious choice for someone like him—already such a big kid, with the potential to become an even bigger and stronger guard—he chooses to become a Disciple, the closest connection they have to you, the ones who work with the Priest to keep the community in line and their devotion strong.
This leads to König becoming an outcast in the community, getting teased and bullied, shunned by his own family who find it embarrassing for someone as big as him to be a disciple. Which is usually an honor, but not when everyone was expecting you to be a guard. But König doesn't care if he's shunned and an outcast, not when he loves devoting all his teenhood and adulthood worshipping you, spending every second that isn't spent on rereading the Script or eating or using the restroom, to worship you. On his hands and knees, kneeling at the Holy Statue within the temple, slipping between German and English in his prayers, hoping for your attention.
It's this hope that becomes a reality when you appear before him, replacing the Holy Statue with your Holy appearance. You're as gorgeous as the Script describes you, perhaps even more, and König nearly passes out from how stunned he is.
You tell him you've been watching over his community for a while, but that he stood out amongst the rest. That you've never experienced such devotion before, and can't help but wonder how far he'll go.
There's no hesitation when König tells you there's no limitation to his devotion. He'll do whatever you want, no matter how cruel or weird it is; he wants to please you, he wants to make you happy.
Which is how König ends up between your thighs, sucking on your dick, and shit, it's fucking huge. You're already bigger than he is, being a God and all, even in your human form. So your cock is bigger than his literal thigh, than his forearm. He struggles to take it into his mouth, but makes it up by literally worshipping it. Kissing your cockhead, along the length, licking it, sucking on your firm balls—it's dirty and nasty, and it goes against everything a disciple isn't supposed to do, but fuck, if his Holiness commands him to do it, König's not one to turn it down.
Eventually, you have König bent over on his arms and knees, ass in the air. His own cock dangles between his legs, dripping at the tip. You stretch him open with your fingers, and it has him squirming and crying out, the first time he's ever done something like this. Eventually, you push your cock in, and König probably passes out, just to come back to consciousness to feel you fucking him.
König's literally crazy so he'd be babbling for more and half-slurred words you can't comprehend. He'd cum so many times before you even give him your first load, and it's only through your powers that you keep him awake and going, up until you cum inside of him. He'd be thanking you through a flushed and teary eyed face, strands of his auburn hair falling in front of his face.
You pull out, uncaring of how your cum streams after his puffy and stretched him. You aren't kind, you aren't nice, not by nature, but you hold off from being cruel and will him back into his original appearance, without the hand bruises on his skin or the cuts making him bleed, less flushed than before. König's disappointed he won't have any gifts from your interaction, hoping to have the cuts scar over, but you soothe him by telling him you'll ask for him soon again.
Despite you cleaning him over, König leaves the temple on trembling legs, with a limp. He avoids everyone's concern and comments, and probably goes back to his little cottage, where he'll probably coo over the cum leaking from his hole, over his puffy hole, eagerly awaiting for your next call.

sophia charlotte merriweather . . . small-town dr.
SOPHIE MERRIWEATHER IS MOVING BACK HOME.
she told herself that she never would. well, actually, that's a lie. she knew she would eventually. she figured that, someday, she would bore herself out of her life in california and move back to silver springs, vermont, to raise her kids or something. she didn't expect to being moving home now at 26. her parents aren't even here anymore - her old house sold as they went to live in florida for the last 4 years of "having a kid at home". so she's not technically home. she's living in this really tiny apartment above sally's diner and very particularly chose not to tell anyone she's back, except for her co-workers at the silver springs public library. you know, miss diane, the children's librarian before sophie, set this whole thing up for her. the lady practically raised her, and when she sent the offer for her to move back, she had to take it! she had to!
everything was going great the first day - she made friends with a very talkative toddler named louise who was very interested in talking about miss diane, until her dad came in. which, sure, would've been totally fine if her dad wasn't leo nash. her best-friend throughout high school before he just decided to stop talking to her when she went to college, sending these stupid silver springs postcards once a month instead. which she may-or-may-not keep underneath her bed in a shoebox full of stuff he's given her over the years. she figured he had moved away once his address changed to his parents' house instead of his own apartment, but what she didn't expect was a 4-year-old bundle of joy that apparently treats the library like her own kingdom.
to make it worse, he's just as hot as he was when they were teenagers, now with muscles and a mustache and just the slightly grown-out hair that she wants to run her fingers through. and he wants to be friends. so does "lulu".
what has she gotten herself into?
silver springs children's librarian. born 01/29/1998. 5 foot 9. silver springs → pasadena → silver springs. 26, aquarius, alleged ambivert. enfp, 6w7, so/sx.

i’m curious what your opinion is on the finer points of the case mentioned in the JSTOR post you reblogged earlier. the two sources in the post say that JSTOR didn’t press charges against him and had already settled with him by the time he killed himself. from what i read on wikipedia, the concern seems to be that JSTOR complied with a subpoena, which i don’t believe they have a choice to ignore? if anything it seems like the us government had reason to want him dead for wikileaks and public court records reasons, so they took a terms of use violation and blew it up into a dozen federal crimes.
is there more context i should be aware of? i have no particular affection or malice for JSTOR but the sources i found don’t exactly implicate the database or its employees in murder.
That's from page 175 of this document. This line: "The activity noted is outright theft and may merit a call with university counsel, and even the local police, to ensure not only that the activity has stopped but that - e.g. the visiting scholar who left - isn't leaving with a hard drive containing our database" is where I think the culpability starts.
If someone is downloading 1000s of articles (what seems like reasonable threshold for us to take action), what's wrong with us - or the university in collaboration with us - alerting the cyber-crimes division of law enforcement and initiating an investigation, having cop search dorm room and try to retrieve any hard drive that contains our content, etc. Our content is extraordinarily valuable and hard to replicate by the sweat of one's brow, but can be duplicated by savvy hackers and who knows what they want to do with the content?
Page 379: "Does the university contact law enforcement? Would they be willing to do so in this instance?
From page 1296:
I think the important thing to note here is that JSTOR had worked with MIT and had plans in place to prevent future similar downloads, but remained focused on identifying the person responsible for the downloads and ensuring that their data was deleted.
"I might just be irked because I am up dealing with this person on a Sunday night, but I am starting to feel like they need to get a hold of this situation right away or we need to offer to send them some help (read FBI).
And there it is. Page 3093 of the document.
JSTOR can hem and haw about it all they want, but you can't un-call the cops.
MIT was working with JSTOR on preventing future incidents of pirating, but JSTOR repeatedly said that they weren't going to let it go, that it was unacceptable to drop the issue, that they were going to continue to pursue the pirate.
You can scroll through the document and see the JSTOR tech department and abuse team talking about Swartz as a script kiddie, and a hacker. You can see someone talking about how this was real theft - making the comparison to stealing books even while admitting that piracy doesn't close others out of access.
You can see the thread starts with a joke about punching someone in the face for hacking their system, and includes the tech team ominously considering whether they should threaten the MIT librarians with the FBI.
There's something really important to note here which I don't think that people who aren't PRETTY DEEP into hackery shit aren't aware of: US law enforcement is absolutely rabidly feral about prosecuting hackers. People may be more aware of this now because of Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden (and perhaps a bit on tumblr because of maia arson crimew), but people who work in tech and who are in infosec - like the people joking about calling the FBI in these emails - would be aware of the bonkers disproportionate punishments faced by hackers. And knowing that, they kept pushing and pushing and pushing for identification of the hacker. They kept digging with MIT, they kept saying that simply preventing future incidents wasn't enough.
Early in the exchange someone from JSTOR asked "what's wrong with us - or the university in collaboration with us - alerting the cyber-crimes division of law enforcement and initiating an investigation, having cop search dorm room and try to retrieve any hard drive that contains our content, etc." and the answer is what happened to Aaron Swartz.
It is absolute bullshit for JSTOR to say "we arrived at a solution privately and didn't want to press charges" after law enforcement has gotten involved with a hacking case, especially one where they're talking about "real theft" and are attempting to quantify and emphasize the amount that was "stolen" from them.
The *public* may believe that private individuals or institutions are the ones who "press charges" but that's simply not the case. It's prosecutors who decide whether or not to go ahead with charges; they do it based on what cases they think they can win and what their office's perspective is on the crime. When you hear about people choosing to press charges it simply means that they decided to tell the prosecutor they wanted the case to go forward. It's up to the prosecutor whether or not that happens.
And the tech team at JSTOR had to know that law enforcement wasn't just going to wag a finger at an academic hacker.
There's a parallel here that happens sometimes when people have their identities stolen by their parents. If you mom takes out a credit card in your name, that's identity theft. That's fraud. That's illegal. If you reach the age of 25 and realize that your credit is ruined because your mom has been defaulting on cards in your name, you've got two choices to fix that: one is to accept the debt and pay it off and build up credit, and the other is to report the identity theft - which will end up with your mom in prison for a decade or so. Ruin your own personal finances, or your mom goes to jail for ruining your finances. So if you find out that your mom stole your identity you can't just call the cops to pressure her into transferring the debt to her name or something. That's not an option. The cops are not a threat to wave over people, they are not a way to get people to fall in line or act right. They aren't someone you can send to a college student's dorm room to retrieve a hard drive and have the matter drop.
When you call the cops on someone you are sending the full force of the law after them, and the full force of the law falls really heavily on hackers, and how heavy that blow can be is something that the JSTOR team must have been aware of when they were making snide comments about calling the FBI because they were frustrated with the noncommittal responses they were getting from librarians.
Ultimately it was the carceral state that killed Aaron Swartz, but they would not have been involved if JSTOR didn't think that what he did constituted theft.
Taking an *EVEN LARGER* step back from that, the idea that information can be owned and locked behind a paywall is what killed Aaron Swartz, someone who fought for information to be free.
Like. JSTOR is a licensing company. At the end of the day, cute social media posts and all, they're the same as the RIAA and ASCAB. They exist to extract a fee from people attempting to access information.
Aaron Swartz and all that he stood for are an existential threat to their core function.
Are JSTOR's hands as dirty as the federal prosecutors? Absolutely not. But they operate on a model that puts them in opposition to open information activists and it ended up with a hammer falling on Aaron Swartz that they dropped.

Weekend in Paris Watch-Along
A summary of everything talked about in the Weekend in Paris watch-along, video here, with Dean Devlin, John Rogers, Aldis Hodge, Christian Kane, and interviewer Brittany Catallo.
Under the cut because it is long.
First question: how do you feel the latest season of Leverage: Redemption is relevant to audiences?
John: [sarcastic outrage] How is a show about evil oligarchs relevant!? I can’t-!
Everyone laughed, and Dean said Leverage was always a show that predicts the future, like The Simpsons, and he specifically mentioned The Mile High Job when Hardison hacks the plane remotely, and The Jailhouse Job which was about the prison industrial complex. At the time of writing those episodes, neither of those things had been done/talked about yet, but soon after the episodes aired both of those things became major news stories.
Dean said the difference this season was that Leverage was actually meeting the current moment, but in the show the good guys win.
John interjected that the good guys can still win! The only time anything is guaranteed is if you give up and accept it will just happen, otherwise the future is always unwritten.
Aldis: So basically Leverage is laying out the blueprint? We just need someone out there to follow it?
John: No! Do not send John Rogers to a foreign prison because you were inspired by something on Leverage!
Q: What can viewers expect this season coming off of last season?
Dean talked about how this season they got to see a whole new side of some of the characters, and get to explore some interesting arcs. He noted that we will be going deep into Parker’s character this season.
John said it’s an advantage of having a show that’s gone on this long, we’ve gone on a journey with them, and the actors give some really nice character work.
John then explained that they chose Paris because they were shooting most of their exterior shots in Belgrade, which is where The Librarians: The Next Chapter is shot.
The intro shot of the team moving throughout the hallway was all one shot that didn't cut, and the cast managed to get it in two takes because they practiced a lot. Everyone had a great time filming it, even if it was stressful knowing one small mess-up would make everybody start over.
When they wrote the scene they didn't have the set yet, and after John turned in the script to director Marc Roskin, Marc called John and said "this is impossible", to which John responded "yes! And that’s what makes it cool!
It was a lot of exposition dump, but John knows Aldis is the best at it and could do it, which allowed them to use Hardison as the anchor character for that scene.
They talked about how everyone had to race around the set, specifically mentioning Beth scrambling to the top to hang through the vent.
The set itself wasn't as big as it looks, it was a big T that they digitally extended and shot well.
John: The room was like “so it’s Scooby Doo” and I was very hurt, I was like “No, it’s a challenging heist sequence built around an impossible bit of geometry!” And the writer’s room was like “No, it's the Scooby Doo door bit, we all know what you’re doing.”
John pointed out how these characters are now all peers, in comparison to the original show, which means Hardison can give Sophie crap about her relationships in a loving way.
He also pointed out how everyone else is distracted by personal stuff, but Eliot is the only one who stays on mission.
The shot of the team running out of the auction house and into the van was a reference to The Long Goodbye Job.
John: You know, I don’t think many fans will catch it, but we’re basically giving them a horrible flashback to the most traumatic moment of their life.
Aldis: You got the wrong audience for that on this show, because they watch everything.
Dean loved that they went from this long, beautiful one-er to the best action scene they've ever shot.
They were able to film the whole car chase downtown in the center of Belgrade.
The idea of the episode opening in the middle of a busted con was something John wanted to do since the original run of the show but never got to do.
Christian came up with the bit of Eliot recognizing and lamenting the waste of expensive flour.
Christian and John talked for a bit about shooting the fight scenes, and Christian said fight scenes are like a dance, it's less about the violence as it is about working with your scene partners.
John learned from Jackie Chan to shoot fights along a fight line, which helps avoid having the fights all be close up shots of punches. He also makes sure to write Eliot fight scenes with fluidity in mind, because Eliot fights to control the space, not to win.
Aldis shot his line in the van ("how was your first day at school?") in New Orleans six months after Christian shot his reaction outside the van in Belgrade.
When coming up with the bad guys for the episode, one of the Amazon execs said "you may have made them too evil," to which John replied "there's no such thing."
Q: What is the significance of Eliot getting seriously injured in this? What was the motivation behind that?
John wanted to make sure there was adequate build to Hardison's speech later, and talked about how Eliot can take a beating and keep working, and has taken a beating for ten years, but sometimes it's taken for granted. Eliot can handle business while injured, but it's a reminder that he's not bulletproof, and it gives the audience a visual and physical reminder of it for the end of the episode.
Hardison and Parker's waiter uniforms reminded Dean of the Season 1 finale of getting the Davids.
Aldis mentioned he gets nostalgia when thinking about where they started, how far they've all come since then, they had a good time and he misses that time.
John said that the bad guy of the week (Arizona Mike) was an example of the banality of evil. He's a generally likeable, smiley guy who has no idea he's a monster.
Sophie's alias Violet Cesario is a character from 12th Night, which is a clue that Sophie made the alias because she takes names from Shakespeare.
They needed the team to make fun of Harry's beard to explain why it was shaved by the end of the episode. John enjoyed writing Sophie giving him crap for it without even seeing it.
Q: Where did the evil water stealing hot sauce salesman come from?
John said that people always focus on Big Crime when writing, but there's a million mid-level evil dudes out there. The bad guy was based on a certain type of farming in California (which John won't name so he doesn't get sued), but no one ever goes directly into water, they get into it through other means. People have an idea in their head of secret office buildings in Vienna and backroom deals, but there's a lot of mid-level millionaires making people miserable for their own money.
Q: How much of yourself is in these characters, and how much have the characters influenced you?
Aldis said that he's part of Hardison more than Hardison is part of him. Since they've been filming Leverage for so long it allowed them to influence their characters more, especially when Redemption started they got to help plan the maturation of their characters and where they would be ten years later. His performance of his characters is made more natural when he puts some of himself in it, and being able to help build the characters helps with that as well.
Dean pointed out that Aldis filmed several TV shows and movies at the same time as Redemption, and mentioned how he would fly out on his days off just to be in a few scenes. Aldis' other commitments were much darker and more tense. Dean asked Aldis what it was like to come and be this happy character for a week?
Aldis: It was like a vacation.
Aldis continued and said that he enjoys his other work, but being able to come back and work on Leverage is a gift. Leverage is just fun, and gives him nostalgia for where they started, and it gives a strange sense of "we're really doing this?" Because he rarely gets to play a character with so much history, and it's a very different experience at this point in his career, but it's a joy to do.
In response to the earlier question, Christian said that a lot of himself has bled into Eliot, and a lot of Eliot has bled into him. Christian helped create Eliot, and Eliot lives inside Christian's body in a way no other character does. Christian didn't know it when he started, but Eliot is the character he came to Hollywood to play. He wanted a role that had action and heart, and said that the bad guy is usually more fun to play, which makes Eliot great because he is both the good and the bad guy. He doesn't feel like he goes to work, it feels like he's showing up to have fun.
John talked about how on a lot of shows, actors just show up to read the lines given to them and that's it, but on Leverage it's more like a jazz band, and the actors know how to play an instrument that the writers don't know. They give the actors the score but encourage them to make it their own. Over the years the writers have learned how to write to the actor's rhythms as well, and all of that helps sell the characters. This has also kept the characters from getting stagnant after 15 years because they're not just characters that live in the writer's heads, they come from the actors as well which lets them grow and breathe.
Christian can’t imagine what it was like to read the Leverage pilot for the first time, because when he thinks about it now he pictures the actors as their characters. They've worked together so long that at this point he knows how Aldis will improv a line.
The line "the law just sucks, now get in the hole" might be one of the darkest lines on the show, according to John.
Q: What was it like to work in New Orleans? How does that setting affect how the show is now?
Dean said they went to New Orleans because he'd had a great experience filming one of the Librarian movies there, and it made sense for them. The only original art form ever made in the US is jazz music, and it came from New Orleans. It was important to put the show in a place that is culturally so important to America, but is also such a huge place for art and corruption and bad guys and people who fight for good guys.
John knew Aldis and Beth would be able to sell the Eyes Wide Shut bit, and could make it creepy and weird, so he just wrote the bare bones script and let them have fun with it. Beth specifically did it as "this is Parker's idea of sexy", and he loved that because he never could've come up with it.
Dean asked Aldis what it was like to film the conversation between Parker and Hardison about wanting to do something different.
Aldis said it was a really important scene, because they've had so many years together and understand each other so well, they're very aware of the weight of what they'll miss together. It juxtaposes well with the previous scene where they worked together really well. They know they make each other better, but what does it mean for Hardison if his heart isn't in it anymore?
John mentioned that the technique of backtracking money laundering accounts is real.
John then talked about how they wanted to write Parker and Hardison, because they didn't want to do the typical shocked significant other plot line. When you love characters and love people you don't want anything to change, but life is change and the world changes all the time. Change is natural and it isn't bad, but it's okay to recognize that some people need to get off the train at different stops, but you still love them and are still with them. It was the same conversation they were having with the fans through the show. You don't have to abandon each other or stop loving each other just because people are doing different things.
Dean interjected to mention how much he likes how Christian played Eliot not wanting to be in this house, with these people, doing this con, all while injured.
John's favorite version of Eliot is when he's annoyed. They missed it earlier but the exchange between Sophie and Eliot ("Oh, sorry, I was focused on the terrorists!") was one of his favorites.
John: Eliot tough and scary is fine, but my favorite thing is when Eliot is annoyed with everybody.
Aldis: Everybody tunes in to watch him get annoyed.
Christian added that he loves acting annoyed, and Aldis is his favorite scene partner for that.
For Harry's scene at the fence with the tanker, everything past the fence was CGI, it was really just an abandoned golf course behind the building.
Q: How do you see comedy and its role in Leverage?
John said a big part of it was because he and Chris Downey started in sitcoms, and they didn't know any rules about "don't mix comedy with drama", so they decided why not have the corny flashbacks and the cool drama. Back when the show started it was hard to get the execs on board, they didn't really understand the tone, but they got it eventually. All the actors can hit jokes, and if you have actors that can hit jokes, give your actors jokes!
Dean said when they filmed the pilot he didn't know how funny Christian could be until the IT guy, and didn't know how good at improv Aldis was until they filmed.
John loved Harry's side-con here. It's not important, it's just a B-plot, he's having fun, we don't have time or that, it’s whatever you want it to be!
Christian's favorite scenario on set was when Eliot and Hardison were dressed up as cops (The Morning After Job), everything in the car and with the call they responded to was so much fun.
John said that episode was a Chris Downey episode, he wanted the comedy of them working together and told John to make the plot work.
John gave credit to Gina, how she masterminded the hell out of the episode, we get to see how terrifying Sophie can be.
The fight with Eliot, Hardison, and the giant security guard was John's vision. He wanted the Cap/Bucky/Iron Man fight from Civil War, and finally got to write that sequence. Two guys fighting in sync, as a pair, who have known each other for 15 years, and know their rhythms.
Christian said it's hard to coordinate a fight like that, but he and Aldis have worked together so long that they figured it out.
Dean loved that Hardison really went all in on the Vulcan neck pinch thing.
John: Hardison believes the Vulcan neck thing is gonna work, and Parker believes it's gonna work, and that’s what love is.
The interviewer asked a question about how Christian does his stunts, and he confirmed he does all his own fights, and as many stunts as John and Dean allow him to.
Brittany: Legally?
John: No! No, no, past that!
Dean hates that Christian does his own stunt. He'll tell Christian not to do something, and then get dailies of Christian doing that thing.
John: And then I get footage of Aldis and Beth running on top of trains! (The Big Bang Job)
Christian told a story of when they worked on The Office Job and were filming the scene on the roof. They had crash pads down, and after they were done filming Christian just jumped onto it without telling anybody. A few seconds later, Aldis followed.
John facepalmed at that story.
Q: Did you work with a lot of the same crew for this season as past Leverage Redemption season?
Dean said they have a lot of the same crew and appreciate it because it’s a great crew.
John said the key to making a good show is hiring smart people who are good at their job, and then getting the hell out of their way. Dean very rarely harshes anyone's insane idea and lets everyone work collaboratively.
John also noted that Breanna and Becky (Harry's daughter) are now best friends. If they had more episodes the two would've had a whole adventure together.
It was also fun to write Hardison giving Breanna the big brother talk, while Parker's in the background like "tell her about the bomb!" and Hardison shushes her because he knows if Nana finds out he told Breanna about a bomb he'd be in trouble.
They shot the end of episode 1, the end of episode 3, and the last scene of the season finale all within a day and a half of each other because they wanted Aldis to be there.
Dean said he loves the pretzels bit, and John talked about how it started as a one-off thing that was just there, but then it became a thing in the show and in the fandom and now it's a whole callback and shorthand for their relationship.
John talked about the ending scene, and how he didn't want Hardison to just bail, he needed to have an honest conversation with Parker.
It was Gina's idea for Sophie to be dating again, and it comes up several times throughout the season.
John liked the way Christian and Aldis played their conversation, of two guys who care about each other and aren't very good at emotions but still have to talk about emotional things.
John repeated that Eliot isn't looking for redemption, he knows he's damned and he's accepted it. It's hard for Eliot to accept or process that other people see him differently.
Christian chimed in that Eliot's redemption is getting other people to a place where they can be redeemed. They can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and even if he's stuck in the tunnel forever as long as everyone else gets out then he doesn't need to.
Q: Is that something we’re going to see more of this season? Exploring everyone finding their own version of redemption?
Christian said his role is more in the background, he's talking people off the ledge, he's giving Hardison advice, he's talking to Sophie, making sure Harry doesn't screw up. Eliot is especially protective of Harry because he's not as far along as the others, and is really trying to give him a leg up out of the darkness.
Dean talked about how it was very important to them that they never betrayed the truth of Parker and Hardison's relationship.
John mentioned that the actors found that relationship. He hates writing backstory and tends to slow-play relationships, because once you get into a relationship it becomes a soap opera and you start screwing with the relationship in order to get stories, so that's why they waited until season 5 of the first run to get Parker and Hardison together. They don't want to mess with their relationship now to get stories, and it was interesting to write about a mature relationship because everyone knows they're not going to break up. He knows you can't screw with such a central relationship for cheap drama.
John: They're in this complicated, emotional relationship, with them and Eliot—however you want to define it—and they are going to die together.
That was the end of the episode! Dean reminded everyone that a new episode will drop every Thursday for the next 7 weeks, and thanked the fandom for supporting it, as the fans are the only reason they got to come back.
Q: Any hint for what we can expect this season?
Christian said there are some great character arcs coming up. He especially loved the second episode.
Dean pointed out how they've made over 100 episodes of Leverage now, and the thing that most surprised him this season is that they're still doing things they've never done before, he's shocked they can still find new places to go, and says that some episodes this season are completely wild.
John said all the writers loved being back with these characters, and we're going to see some unexpected but not unbelievable turns from the characters as they expose their vulnerable side. We'll explore a bit more for the newer characters, and Breanna especially is going to be great.

official stranger things scripts publishing this fall!!
have folks talked about this??? probably yes but idk if it's been officially announced? it's starting to populate on retail sites including penguin random house and edelweiss (which is for librarians/booksellers/book professionals) etc
(PRH link) (edelweiss link)
Season 1 - Sept. 2, 2025 Season 2 - Sept. 2, 2025 Season 3 - Oct. 7, 2025 Season 4 - Nov. 4, 2025
the release dates set it up to perfectly hype up (and capitalize on) season 5's release in nov/dec. granted, it being unofficial for now means those on-sale dates could change.
the other obvious note is that i'm sure these versions have been edited and scrubbed for anything spoilery or any juicy crumbs, lol. still cool to have the official scripts for every episode, though.
disclaimer bc of my involvement in the dustin experiment: i'm not involved in this at all, have no insider knowledge, am speculating and commenting as a fan etc etc.

scribbled hearts.
premise. alhaitham learns to stop falling asleep in places that aren't his bed the hard way. (alternatively, in which the librarian doesn't follow the script to wake sleeping beauty.)
Kaveh finds Alhaitham furiously scrubbing his face in the bathroom.
At first, he's absolutely ecstatic. For all that Alhaitham refuses to practice skincare, he's never gotten a zit on his face. An earth-shattering revelation to Kaveh, who maintains a strict nightly skincare routine—he's never gone to sleep without a moisturizing facemask. It's not the most infuriating thing about his roommate, but it annoys him that a guy who only washes his face in the morning has clearer skin than he does.
Is this it? Is Alhaitham receiving retribution at last? Is he finally suffering the consequences of his carelessness?!
But when Kaveh cranes his neck to get a better look at Alhaitham's face, he doesn't see any of the sort.
“Dude...” Kaveh can't even laugh due to sheer incredulity, staring at Alhaitham with a pitying look. Alhaitham thinks it would be less irritating if he just laughed in his face. “Did a third-grader pick on you?”
Alhaitham grits his teeth, wiping the remnants of ink on his face. He's mostly gotten rid of the sparkly anime eyes you drew over his eyelids, but it still looks like a fading black eye. The blush lines on his cheeks are a work in progress, but they'll disappear with some effort.
“They have the maturity of one, at least.”
Alhaitham has met his fair share of librarians—there's the stern, no-nonsense kind he's gotten forehead flicks from every time he's caught dozing off on his thesis paper; the introverted bookish type who stutters as they nervously but firmly tell him off for hogging all the books a certain class needs for a report; the motherly sort who smuggles him coffee in his all-nighters when he looks like death itself...
And then there's you.
Cheekier than his brat of a roommate, you somehow manage to annoy him like nobody else can. He'd rather have you scold him for treating the library as a second bedroom than clip ribbons to his hair whenever you catch him sleeping. Hell, he'd take a skull-shattering forehead flick over doodles on his face any day. But even if he preaches his troubles to anyone willing to listen, they're never sympathetic.
Because for some reason, you're never like this to anyone else.
If anyone at campus were asked to describe you, they'll say you're a model student. Scholarly, courteous, standing tall with dignified grace; you're the perfect picture of a goody-two-shoes. Nothing like the childish brat who terrorizes his nap schedule on a daily basis.
People who have a vendetta against him is nothing new. What he doesn't understand, however, is what he did to be the object of your wrath.
“Maybe [Name] likes you. Kind of like how boys bully the girl they like,” is the ridiculous answer Kaveh gives him, dropping those words like they weigh nothing with a nonchalant shrug. Alhaitham would think it more likely for the reverse to be true; your insistence to dedicate your time into ruining his day is nothing short of admiration—surely a testament to just how much you hate him.
...Okay, so maybe Alhaitham could guess a few things for why. There's been a handful of times (read: it happens at least thrice a week) he kept you stationed at the library longer than you had to be because he fell asleep until closing hours, and he has a tendency to forget returning the materials he borrows for his thesis to the library...
So. Perhaps this was a consequence of his actions after all.
He argues that there are far more mature methods to resolve this issue, though.
Alhaitham stares at the crudely drawn portrait scrawled on his arm, deeply unimpressed. Although he's not one to boast about his looks, he's rather sure he isn't as much of an eyesore as you drew him to be, his nose an exaggerated point (a literal triangle) and his lips wide open as he drools, dangerously close to the rectangles he guesses are supposed to be books. Don't sleep on the reference books!! You'll get drool all over them >:(, reads the scribbled letters beside the portrait, an angry face scrawled haphazardly next to them.
(Still, by the corner of his eye, he spots a cup of his usual order of coffee, a neon pink sticky note pasted on the lid: Wake up and finish your report quickly, I have a show to catch at 8 :>
It would be easier to hate you if being bratty is all there is to your personality, really.)
You scribble all over your notes.
It's a fact Alhaitham has known about you since long ago. Everything else about you is neat and orderly, but every page of your notebook has some sort of doodle on the corners. They range from meticulous side-profiles of whoever sits beside you that day to meaningless hearts and smiley faces akin to what a five-year-old child might make.
If you've chosen to be more artistic for the doodles you draw all over him, perhaps Alhaitham might not mind as much. It's unfortunate you much rather prefer drawing exaggerated tear streaks on his face.
“I'm quite certain this is a form of harassment,” Alhaitham grumbles, rubbing his face with makeup remover. As pointless as it is to express his woes to the cause of said woes, he finds himself seated before the reception desk to keep you company anyway. “I don't understand why you're still doing this.”
“It's a punishment for falling asleep and keeping me holed up in here to guard the library until it closes,” you drone, fixing the library cards. “And yet you still refuse to stop. Is it really so hard to go to the dormitory instead?”
Alhaitham shrugs. A sigh inevitably escapes your lips.
Eventually, you run out of stupid things to draw on his skin whenever you catch him sleeping.
You start to write your shopping list on his arm instead.
“Why on earth would you need three cartons of eggs?” Alhaitham leans against the desk you're stationed at, reading the bulletpoints on his skin.
Eventually, Alhaitham gets used to scrubbing off your vandalism too. It's his personal brand of skincare.
“They're on sale today,” you reply, signing the papers requesting new stocks of books. “And I was planning on baking, so it's better I have plenty of ingredients for trial and error.”
“Sounds heavy,” he hums, eyes scanning the rest of your list. “Want me to come with?”
At that, your pen stops moving. “...Why?”
“I need to buy cereal.”
(No he doesn't. Kaveh went on a grocery run yesterday.)
“Sure, I guess...?” It's an unexpected development, but you wouldn't turn away an extra pair of hands. “Should we get going, then?”
“Yeah.”
You raise an eyebrow. “...But you didn't borrow a book today yet. Aren't you getting anything first?”
Alhaitham looks around. “The book I wanted isn't here, so I suppose I still have to wait a few days for it.”
“What is it?” You click your pen, reaching for your notepad. (You already have one of those, Alhaitham seriously sees no point in you writing down your grocery list on his arm.) “I'll tell you when it gets returned.”
“...No, it's fine. Let's go, the eggs you wanted might be all gone if we take our time getting there.”
You jolt up in alarm, slinging your bag over your shoulder. “You're right, we should hurry!”
For all it's worth, you're pretty gullible.
“You're still keeping that up?”
Alhaitham looks up from his laptop, fingers halting in their movement. “What do you mean?”
Kaveh scrunches his nose, pointing at the scribbles on his palm. “Your weird mating ritual. Can't you two communicate like normal people?”
Alhaitham glances at the mess you've made of his arm, full of little messages and doodles you wrote back and forth to each other during Biology period. Alhaitham had been, perhaps for the first time, not feeling drowsy. Regardless, you've taken to treating his skin as paper (“Save the trees,” you told him once, ignoring the disbelieving expression on his face), and Alhaitham has already accepted that you won't stop doing it as long as you still find it amusing.
“We do talk. Normally.”
“And if you do, why are you still doing... that.”
Alhaitham doesn't have anything to say to that. He did think it was inconvenient to wash all the messages off, and there are far more practical modes of communication.
But for some reason, he can't find it in himself to say that he outright dislikes it.
And maybe he traces the shapes you draw on his skin, in the private confines of his room where no one can see him. Maybe he admires the smooth strokes of your penmanship, the adorable curls of your letters, the bubbly font that always makes him chuckle because it's just so like you.
There are hearts sometimes, or even flowers when you feel like drawing something more detailed. The ugly sketches of him sleeping are somewhat annoying, but he still finds himself endeared. Though some things are appallingly inaccurate—you've done his nose a horrible injustice more than once—he notices the correct placement of beauty marks on his face, the sharp edges of his eyes, the meticulous dimple that faintly appears when he smiles.
A thrill runs through him when he thinks of you paying attention to him, more than you've ever given anyone else.
And, well. Alhaitham's certain he's been doing plenty of that for you.
“Don't you think you're being unfair?”
You pause in your typing, averting your eyes from the computer monitor to glance at Alhaitham. “Unfair in what, exactly?”
He mindlessly spins a pen with his fingers, staring at the blank canvas that was your arm compared to the sketchbook you've made out of his. “You're the only one who writes on me.”
“What, you want to write your shopping list on me for a change?” you arch up an eyebrow, unperturbed. “I thought you said it was impractical.”
“I never said I wanted to write my shopping list.”
“What else would you write, then?”
Alhaitham reaches for your arm. “Give me your hand.”
You blink, not quite unwilling yet confused all the same. You offer your hand and he uncaps his pen, scribbling on your palm. You've never been on the receiving end of this little game, so you're not sure what to expect from him.
“There.” Satisfied, he lets go and stands up. “I'm going home for the day. Good luck with the rest of your shift.”
“See you tomorrow, I guess...?” you wave at him in farewell, but he's quick to spring on his feet and dart out the door. “What's his deal...”
You turn over your hand, seeing a string of numbers written in neat font.
“Oh.”
Alhaitham feels silly for anticipating a text like some lovestruck teenage girl who exchanged numbers with her crush.
The blinking cursor on his blank essay document almost looks mocking, and as time passes by, the only word he's managed to type out is “The.” Even so, his attention is completely locked on his phone, devoid of any notifications.
If it weren't for Kaveh being nosy the other day, he wouldn't have gotten the idea of giving you his number. He did think something had to change, but he didn't know how to get there. But now that he's gotten this far, he can expect a little bit, right?
At last, his phone chimes its long awaited notification. Alhaitham is quick to ditch his laptop and shuts it closed, reaching for his phone where it sits on his desk. He swears he's never typed his password so fast before in his life.
Unfortunately, the text he's been anticipating for a good portion of the day is nothing but a disappointment.
Unknown number: eggs milk whipping cream flour
Unknown number: baking powder cocoa powder vanilla extract sugar
What was he expecting anyway?
He sighs and leans back on his chair, solemly pushing his laptop open. He doubts this message requires a response back.
Another notification lights his phone.
This time, Alhaitham doesn't even have the energy to unlock his screen. He squints at the notification preview.
Unknown number: wanna come over when I finish baking the souffles?
He doesn't quite drop his phone in shock, but it's a near thing.
You: I'll go carry the groceries too.
Unknown number: thanks! 💖

Most Idiotic Mate | Cassian x Fem!Reader
Cassian Appreciation Week: Day 7 - Free Day (Mating Bond) @cassianappreciationweek
Summary: Cassian is very sheepish around you but he’s even more protective. What happens when you go to the Summer Court with him? (Requested by anon here and here)
Warnings: misogyny (not from Cass), protective bat (Cass), canon level violence, lmk if anything was forgotten…
graphics by @tsunami-of-tears
You were the soft, quiet, ray of sunshine librarian that Cassian couldn’t get enough of. Anytime he wanted a new book on war strategies or tactics, you were happy to find them for him. It was, after all, your specialty.
You came to the library of the House of Wind after the temple near Illyria was attacked. Luckily, no one got hurt, but it resulted in hundreds of important scripts and scrolls being burned. Rhys, as the good High Lord he was, offered you a position at the library to be their dedicated War Researcher.
You weren’t a priestess, and you certainly weren’t as traumatized as the others were, but the House of Wind library was your home. And yet, you tended to leave the library often to go find more books or research in Velaris. Or even in other courts. Only with Cassian’s protection, of course.
So, when you decided to go to the Summer Court to find a specific strategy in the technique you were researching, Cassian insisted on coming.
For him, it was making sure you were safe. Making sure his mate was safe.
Azriel loved to tease him on how "lovesick" he was with you. But nobody but Cass knew about the bond. Not even you. He didn't think he, a big, brutish warrior would be good enough for you, the quiet, shy, happy librarian. It wasn't fair when you looked at him with such adoration every time he stepped up to protect you. To guard you at the other courts. It was almost like you knew about the bond and didn't tell him. Like he didn't tell you.
You, on the other hand, couldn't be more oblivious to Cassian's affections. You loved Cassian. You were in love with him. But you didn't want to ruin the friendship you had. Who would come with you to visit courts if it did? You loved Az and Rhys, but they weren't Cassian. They didn't make you laugh with their sarcastic comments. They didn't growl at any male who looked at you the wrong way. While some females may have found it overprotective or possessive, you found it endearing. He was making sure you were well protected under his arm, surrounded by his wings.
Soon, you walked onto the roof of the House of Wind, clad in your normal attire for the summer court. Loose fitting pants and tunic, clad in Summer Court white with glints of Night Court teal. Your hair was braided back as you met Mor, who would winnow you both to Summer Court. Azriel was standing beside her, quietly chatting with her.
Cassian was decked in his Illyrian armor, all 7 Siphons on display, when he came through the stairwell. As they always were when you were going to another court.
Mor and Az watched as Cassian tucked in his wings, lowering himself towards you in greeting. "Are you ready to go to the Summer Court?" He asked.
You smiled up at him, nodding happily. "I am," you said softly. "I can't wait to find this book. I think you're going to like it too, once I finish reading it. And then we could compare notes." You said happily. "Or we could read it together!"
Azriel held back a laugh as a blush crept up Cassian's cheeks.
"Oh.. Uh.. Yeah, yeah that would be great." He said.
Azriel coughed, glancing over to Mor. Cassian, one of the deadliest Illyrian warriors, was making himself smaller, blushing, and stumbling over his words. For you. It was endearing, but it was going on so much now that Mor and Az had a plan.
"The Prince would love to see (Y/N) while you're both there. You should stop by the palace in Adriata." Mor said. "Tarquin? You remember him. He's the nephew of Nostrus."
"Me?" You asked, wrapping your arms around yourself. You were no stranger to meeting princes or High Lords. Rhys valued your opinion on war tactics and had you sit in on calls and diplomatic meetings. But it was always surprising when one of them requested for you.
"He said something about a private dinner." Azriel said.
"With me?" You asked again, looking up at Cassian. "I-I don't know if Rhys would approve of a private dinner." You said, looking back to Mor.
"You won't be alone. I'll be there with you." Cassian said, setting a light hand on your shoulder.
You let out a sigh and smiled. "I hope Prince Tarquin is okay with that." You said squeezed Cassian's hand.
"Can we go now? The library there closes early and I don't want to waste a minute." You said.
Mor stepped up offering her hand to you.
"Better hope Tarquin doesn't make a move before you, brother." Azriel whispered to Cassian before winnowing away.
Cassian glared at the spot Azriel was just in before turning to Mor. "Let's go."
You found your book and about five more that you wanted to bring back to Velaris. As you were making your way to the palace, you saw Tarquin approached Cassian and you.
"Lady (Y/N), it's a pleasure to see you again." Tarquin said, kissing your hand.
Heat gathered on your neck and you prayed he couldn't see. You stepped closer to Cassian, the familiar warmth of his body bringing comfort to you. "You as well, Prince Tarquin." You said.
"I'm just going to give these to Mor so she can bring them back to the Night Court... and then we will meet you for dinner." You said.
"We?" He asked.
"Cassian... will be joining. If that's okay." You said, shifting on your feet.
"Oh... that is fine." He said.
"Cass, I'm gonna go meet Mor in that cafe over there. Stay here." You said, squeezing his arm before you walked over to the cafe.
You waited for Mor as you stood with your books, glancing around. You knew Cassian was still watching you through the window. As you looked over to give him a smile, you missed the male that strode up to your side. "Do you need help with those?" He asked.
You jumped slightly, then looked over to the male. "Oh.. no, thank you." You said and shook your head. "I'm just waiting for a friend." You said.
"Isn't that what they all say?" He asked.
"Who... they?" You asked.
"You females. You just want to be left alone do you lie." He said.
"I'm- I'm not lying... sir." You said, taking a step back. "My friend is coming to pick these up." You said.
"Sir? I quite like that." He said, taking a step towards you. His hand came to your arm, causing your stomach to roll.
"Take your hand off me." You said.
"Why? What are you going to do?" He asked, stepping closer to you as his other hand came to your other arm.
"Let go of me." You said again.
"Or what?"
"The lady said to take your hands off." Cassian growled, one of his daggers immediately at the male's neck.
If the male was phased by a knife at his neck, he didn't let on. "Piss off, she's mine." He said.
"Let her go before I slice your neck." Cassian said.
He could smell your fear, smell the terror as you watched the male's eyes darken.
In an instant, the male winnowed out of Cassian's grasp to behind him, his sword now out in the middle of the cafe.
You stepped back, hitting your back against the window. The books fell from your arms as you watched Cassian draw his sword, a shield of red being put up around you.
"Get her out of here." Cassian growled. That's when you noticed Tarquin standing next to you.
"General, you should stand down." He said.
"You want to fight?" Cassian asked the male. He only growled in return.
"Come on," Tarquin said, motioning for you to follow him. You kept your eyes on Cassian as Tarquin escorted you out of the cafe.
"Wait." You said and paused, watching as Cassian and the male began to fight. The other patrons scrambled out when the male started to use his magic.
"Cassian!" You yelled when he threw out his magic, causing the building to rumble.
Tarquin held you back, holding onto your arm. "If you go any closer, you could get hurt." He said.
Tears began to build in your eyes as you felt the ground shake again. Something in your gut pulled you to him, needed him to be safe. Needed him to stop fighting.
A sob left your lips as the building finally gave way. "Cassian!" A primal scream left your throat, causing your knees to buckle as the building crashed around him.
You ran towards it, shaking out of Tarquin's grip to go find him. That's when it snapped. When you felt the bond tugging you closer to him, under the rubble. Your knees scrapped as you slid on top of it, digging the loose parts out.
You sobbed as your fingers tore, trying to find him. You felt the bond, felt it pulling you towards him. He wasn't dead. He couldn't be. Not when you felt a tug back. When you felt a sense of calm wash over you that he sent down the bond. Suddenly, just a few steps away from where you were digging, a red light shot out of the rubble.
You let out a sob of relief as Cassian emerged from it, dust covering his face and body. You crawled over to him and wrapped your arms around him. "Cassian! Don't do that ever again." You sobbed, burying your face in his neck.
You felt his chuckle as he pulled you close to him. You thought the worse when you only felt one arm wrap around your waist.
You pulled back, more tears falling from your eyes when you noticed he had all six of your books in his other arm. "I couldn't forget these." He said.
You laughed, hitting his arm as more tears streamed down your face. "I have the most idiotic mate in the world." You teased.
Cassian's eyes widened, searching yours. "You know?" He asked.
"The second the building fell..." You whispered.
"Gods... I love you." He whispered back, pulling your waist closer to him as he pressed his lips against yours passionately.
"You two are gross." You heard Rhys's voice ring out behind you.
"And you're banned from the Summer Court until further notice." Tarquin said, crossing his arms. "Please leave."
You pulled back, love shining in your eyes as they stayed on Cassian. "I think my mate deserves a well cooked meal for bringing down a building for me." You said.
"Don't encourage him." Mor said, helping you two out of the rubble. You were now both covered in dust, and a little bit of blood. But you didn't care. Cassian was your mate. And you absolutely loved the lengths he would go to so you were safe.
Cassian would take all the teasing in the world from the rest of his family if it meant you would look at him like you were now. With that same adoration in your eyes... but more. With pure love in your eyes. He would bring down the whole of Prythian just to see that look another time.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed! I love expanding my ACOTAR list of characters. And I have one more one-shot I’ll be posting today as well!

that final loop in Star Trek Discovery is soo good
Mudd has been resetting the past 30 minutes dozens of times, trying to work his way incrementally towards taking over the ship. The loop device I guess only exists within the loop because it disappears when they exit the loop. Within seconds of exiting the loop, they reveal important info to him and muscle memory kicks in, he was going to press the button on the device to reset the loop but it's gone!
one problem with the trope of short closed timeloops is that there is no post script and the characters go through the stages of it soo effectively that no one has ever wanted to return to a loop once they escape it. Even in shows with good strong continuity where the writers are otherwise very good at referencing previous episodes (Stargate SG1, The Librarians) there is no discussion of the loops once they end
so it's incredible to me that Discovery had a very short loop (only 30 minutes!), put TWO characters in it, neither character is a POV character for the show, AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT (WHICH ARE ALL INCREDIBLY RARE FOR TIMELOOPS) they did something i've never seen before which is have a character leave the loop and then want to go back into it!
I've described the main problem with Groundhog Day as that no one who was working on it had seen Groundhog Day, which is to say that a lot of issues with it could have been avoided if the people involved had a greater understanding of what they were creating. I've also described Palm Springs as being very good because it has both seen and fully understood Groundhog Day. P much every post-Groundhog Day timeloop can be judged on a spectrum of how much it seems like the writers have only seen Groundhog Day at some point vs having truly understood Groundhog Day
For Star Trek Discovery, it's evident that the writers have seen and understood Groundhog Day AND seen & understood groundhog day loops as done by other shows/movies, because they did sooooo much that is extremely rarely seen in timeloops and they did stuff that i've never seen before in the context of a timeloop.
There are other timeloops in other Star Treks, and they go back to pre-the Groundhog Day movie, and it's clear that the people who worked on Discovery love and respect previous Star Treks so they've definitely seen every previous loop done by Trek. Which means I guess those are next on my list to watch
#timeloop project#star trek discovery#i am soooooooooo impressed with what they were able to pull off
