The low hum of Penacony's industrial district echoed around you, the staccato rhythm of machines matching the pace of your thoughts. You leaned on the cane in your hand, its polished wood a stark contrast to the soot-covered metal around you. As much as you despised this city, its chaos offered one thing: anonymity. But as your magenta and cyan-eyed companion sauntered into your lab, grinning like a man who’d just rolled a winning hand, anonymity was no longer an option.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the Architect of Revolution,” Aventurine teased, leaning casually against your workbench. His glasses caught the dim light, making his smile even more maddening. “I heard rumors, but I didn’t think even you would risk your name for this. Creating miracles in the slums while dodging the IPC’s gaze? Bold.”
Your jaw tightened as you placed your notes down. "And yet here you are. What’s your game this time, Aventurine? Here to gloat? Or to use my work as another one of your high-stakes gambles?"
His grin faltered for the briefest moment. “Why not both?” He pulled a gold chip from his pocket, flipping it between his fingers. “I know what you’re trying to do, [Name]. Reinvent life, strip it of its flaws, make the world… fairer. It’s noble. Impossible, but noble.”
You turned sharply, the familiar ache in your leg forcing you to adjust your stance. “Impossible is your specialty, isn’t it? You wouldn’t be here unless you saw an angle to exploit.”
Aventurine’s expression softened, his usual flamboyance replaced by something quieter. “Exploiting you? No. I admire you, actually. You’ve taken the cards fate dealt you and reshuffled the deck. But… I’m worried you’ll bet everything and lose yourself in the process. Believe me, I know how that feels.”
You stared at him, searching for mockery but finding none. The mask he wore, the calculated charm, cracked just enough to reveal something raw underneath. Despite yourself, you laughed bitterly. “Coming from the man who’d gamble his soul on a coin toss?”
His grin returned, but it was tinged with regret. “Touché. But if you’re risking it all, maybe let me play too. Two minds like ours? We could rewrite the rules together.”
Tumblr media
The vast dome of the Intelligentsia Guild library stretched above you, its vaulted ceiling painted with constellations of knowledge. Rows of books and holographic interfaces surrounded you, but your focus was on the intricate mechanism before you—a device meant to stabilize organic matter during transformation. It was your life's work, but even now, it felt incomplete.
“Your equations lack elegance,” a voice called from behind. You turned, finding Ratio standing there, arms crossed, his hair catching the soft glow of the library's lights. His eyes were sharp as ever.
You leaned on your cane, raising an eyebrow. “If you’re here to critique, Dr. Ratio, don’t bother. Elegance is secondary to functionality.”
He stepped closer, examining the device with a critical eye. “Functionality without elegance is like a star that doesn’t shine. It works, but it doesn’t inspire.” He glanced at you. “Your mind is exceptional. Why settle for mediocrity?”
You frowned, turning back to your notes. “Because inspiration doesn’t save lives. This will.”
Ratio’s gaze softened, though his tone remained precise. “And yet, your obsession with saving lives blinds you to the consequences. I’ve read your research, [Name]. You want to fix the flaws in humanity, but at what cost? How much of yourself will you sacrifice before you realize perfection doesn’t exist?”
You slammed your hand on the table, the frustration boiling over. “You think I don’t know that? I’ve lived my entire life shackled by imperfection—my body, my past, this broken world. I’m not chasing perfection. I’m chasing freedom.”
Silence fell between you, broken only by the faint hum of machinery. Ratio sighed, stepping closer. “Freedom is a worthy pursuit. But even the greatest minds need a foundation, someone to steady them when they falter.” He placed a hand on your shoulder, his touch surprisingly gentle. “Let me be that for you.”
For a moment, you allowed yourself to believe him, to imagine a partnership that didn’t end in betrayal or loss. “If you’re offering your help,” you said quietly, “be prepared to see the worst of me.”
Ratio smiled faintly. “I wouldn’t expect anything less.”
Tumblr media
The lab was cold, the sterile white walls reflecting the icy demeanor of its sole occupant. Ruan Mei stood at the far end, her eyes fixed on a series of holographic projections detailing the evolution of a new species she’d been cultivating. She didn’t look up as you entered, though you knew she’d registered your presence.
“You’re late,” she said, her voice as cool as the lab’s atmosphere. “I thought precision was important to you.”
Leaning on your cane, you gave a faint smirk. “And I thought warmth was important to life, yet here we are.”
Her gaze flicked toward you, a faint twitch of her lips betraying amusement. “Touché. What brings you here, [Name]? Surely you have more pressing experiments than interrupting mine.”
You moved to the workstation beside hers, placing your prototype on the surface. “I need your insight. The molecular structure is stable, but the integration process fails every time. I thought… maybe you’d see something I don’t.”
She studied you for a long moment, her usually impassive face betraying a hint of curiosity. “You’re admitting you need help? That’s… unexpected.”
You chuckled, though the sound was bitter. “Even I have limits, Ruan Mei. I just hate that I’m reminded of them so often.”
She stepped closer, her hands brushing over the device. “Limits are what define us. They’re also what drive us to innovate.” Her eyes met yours, and for a moment, you saw something other than cold intellect—a flicker of understanding, even kinship. “You remind me of myself, in a way. Always chasing something… unattainable.”
“Perfection?” you asked quietly.
“Meaning,” she corrected. Her voice softened, and she turned back to the device. “Let me help you, [Name]. Not because I think you’ll succeed, but because I want to see what happens when two flawed minds work together.”
You hesitated, the weight of her words settling over you. “Fair enough,” you said finally. “But don’t expect me to share credit.”
She smirked faintly. “I wouldn’t dream of it.”
Tumblr media
The dim light of the mechanized workshop cast long shadows across the intricate gears and cogs spread across your desk. The soft, rhythmic tick of the clock overhead was your only companion as you tinkered with the device before you. The design was elegant but flawed, its energy distribution uneven, its purpose incomplete. You sighed, leaning heavily on your cane, the ache in your leg a familiar reminder of your own imperfections.
A voice interrupted the quiet. Smooth, refined, and tinged with amusement. “You’re going to wear yourself out, [Name]. Even the greatest minds require rest.”
You didn’t look up. “Rest doesn’t bring progress, Screwllum.”
He stepped into the light, his polished frame catching the glow of your desk lamp. His cape swayed as he moved, and his hat tilted slightly, casting a shadow over his glowing eyes. His presence was commanding yet unintrusive, like a puzzle piece slipping perfectly into place.
Screwllum examined your work with a calculating gaze. “You’ve overcompensated for the energy loss in the auxiliary channels. It’s elegant but redundant.” He paused, his head tilting slightly. “Much like your insistence on bearing every burden alone.”
You bristled, gripping your cane tighter. “And what would you know about burdens, Screwllum? You, with your perfectly crafted design and flawless movements.”
He knelt beside you, his mechanical hand tracing the device’s intricate patterns. “More than you might think. Perfection is an illusion, [Name]. One I’ve spent lifetimes chasing. But in my pursuit, I’ve come to realize something.” He glanced up at you, his cyan gaze piercing. “It’s the flaws that make the design meaningful.”
Your jaw tightened. “Meaning doesn’t solve problems. It doesn’t make the world better.”
“Perhaps not,” he admitted, standing gracefully. “But neither does burning yourself out in isolation. Let me help. Together, we might find a solution even you couldn’t imagine alone.”
For a moment, you hesitated. The pride that kept you locked in your solitude warred with the small, desperate part of you that longed for understanding. Finally, you stepped aside, gesturing to the device. “If you think you can improve it, be my guest.”
Screwllum smiled, a faint flicker of light in his expression. “Consider it a collaboration.”
And as his mechanical hands worked alongside yours, for the first time in a long while, the weight on your shoulders felt just a little lighter.
Tumblr media
The faint light of the workshop filled the room, its ever-expanding landscapes swirling in holographic projections around you. You leaned on your cane, staring at the interface with a mixture of awe and frustration. The calculations refused to align, their inconsistencies gnawing at your mind like an itch you couldn’t scratch.
“Fascinating,” a voice drawled behind you. “Even someone as brilliant as you can stumble.”
You turned sharply, finding Herta lounging against the doorway, her arms crossed and a bemused smile playing on her lips. Her eyes sparkled with mischief, and her hair framed a face that seemed untouched by the years. She looked entirely too amused by your struggle.
“I wasn’t aware I’d invited an audience,” you said dryly, adjusting your stance to ease the ache in your leg. “To what do I owe the pleasure, Madam Herta?”
She sauntered closer, her dress swishing around her ankles. “I heard rumors that the infamous [Name] was working on something groundbreaking. Naturally, I had to see if they were true.” Her gaze flicked to the calculations on your screen. “And I must say, I’m not disappointed.”
You frowned, turning back to the interface. “If you’re here to gloat, save it. I don’t have time for games.”
“Gloat?” she repeated, feigning offense. “I would never. I’m simply curious. You’re like a puzzle, [Name]. A broken masterpiece trying to make the world whole. It’s… endearing.”
Your grip on your cane tightened. “Spare me the poetry, Herta. If you have something useful to contribute, say it. Otherwise—”
“Otherwise what?” she interrupted, stepping closer. Her voice softened, losing its playful edge. “You’ll keep pushing yourself until there’s nothing left? Don’t pretend I don’t see the parallels, [Name]. You’re chasing perfection just like I did. And it will cost you.”
You glared at her, the anger bubbling up despite the quiet truth of her words. “What would you have me do, then? Abandon my work? Watch people suffer because I wasn’t strong enough to finish what I started?”
“No,” she said simply. “I’d have you remember that genius doesn’t mean isolation. Even the brightest stars shine brighter with others around them.” She placed a hand on your shoulder, her touch unexpectedly gentle. “Let me help you, [Name]. Not because I think you need it, but because I want to see what someone like you can achieve when they’re not carrying the weight of the world alone.”
You stared at her, searching for the mockery you’d expected but finding none. Slowly, you nodded. “Fine. But don’t get in my way.”
Herta smiled, a glimmer of triumph in her eyes. “I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Would you be able to write something ot7 based on how they would be in an arranged marriage (both consenting to the marriage but just maybe not super happy about it at first or maybe they are but are awkward or however you want to do it.) Maybe like a head cannon? I really love the ones that you’ve written. Maybe some angst, some fluff, cuteness, smut. It’s okay if you can’t. I look forward to reading your work in the future either way!
💌 Reply:
Hi there! 💜 Thank you so much for this brilliant request... OT7 arranged marriage? YES, my brain is already spinning with drama, reluctant pining, and chaotic bonding moments. I’ll dive into angsty tensions (looking at you, Yoongi), awkward fluff (Jin’s "worldwide handsome" wedding meltdowns), and eventual OT7 devotion... ahhh my head!!!. I hope you like it... it’s been a blast to write! Thank you for inspiring this chaos! 🖤
NOTE:IMPORTANT! Due to Tumblr’s persistent "processing error" (RIP my sanity), I couldn’t post the full OT7 arranged marriage headcanons in one go without the draft self-destructing, so I split it up not wanting to not post...
THIS POST = Hyung Line (Namjoon, Jin, Yoongi, Hobi
Maknae Line (Jimin, Taehyung, Jungkook) in extra post
Apologies for the hassle! Blame Tumblr’s coding demons, not your sleep depreeved girl that tried to get help from tumblr support for almsot three days (RIP)

You: “Still cheesy.” Hobi (grinning through tears): “But you love it.”
Final

Can. Can you please do #11 with the Fang AU?
11. "Just keep breathing. In and out. You're doing great." (Minor warning for blood and injury).
Hamato Leonardo knew himself to be a turtle of many enviable talents. Out-of-this-world charisma, rugged good looks, hilarious, a tactical mind, and a resourceful field medic. The whole package. Except, he was not a scientist. He'd never had the patience or the attention span for fiddly formulas, obsessive note-taking, and tedious repetition needed for an experiment to be successful. As the team’s leader and face man, Leo thrived in the gray, mixing information and spontaneity, tweaking and twisting to ensure the outcome he wanted came to pass. Science was Donnie's world. His egg-headed twin thrived in black and white; relying on repetition, craved clearly defined variables, delighting in percentiles and predictability. That was what balanced them in the end, what made them tick as twins. Brainiac and face man, street smarts and book smarts, innovation and invention.
And maybe that was why he was struggling now, sitting hunched over his secret pile of medical books, scowling as he compared them to the ones April had brought from the library. Squinting at tiny, cramped print as his head pounded, forcing eyes crusted from lack of sleep to open to absorb the paragraphs detailing anatomy, herpetology, and epidemiology, alongside pictures that were various degrees of uselessness. This was Donnie’s world, and maybe he would have enjoyed this torment. Maybe, his twin could make sense of these "viral counts" and "impact percentiles ". Maybe, if his twin weren't strapped to the bed behind him, delirious and writhing in pain, they could have already fixed whatever this thing was.
"Shell," Leo groaned, throwing down his pencil as one hand rose to rub his tired eyes.
He was going to get crow's feet and fine lines from glaring at these useless books, things he could (loudly) tolerate if they were to result in a solution to whatever plaguing their purple brother. But they hadn’t so far. Days of effort, nights of burning well past the midnight oil, and all he had to show for his efforts was a splitting headache and a massive collection of unwashed tea mugs. None of Donnie's symptoms matched with anything detailed in the textbooks, or CDC and WHO websites. Given the creepy level of the lab they'd wreaked, it wasn’t truly that surprising, even if it was frustrating. There was, shockingly, not a lot of published research on mutants, let alone their illnesses or immune systems. But, illnesses didn't just come out of nowhere! He didn't need a fancy piece of paper or a Donnie-level IQ to know that. Whatever was ailing Donnie had to be documented somewhere. But he was a field medic for pizza's sake! He knew how to set bones, sew up cuts, and head off infections. Not cellular biology!
Throwing his hands up in defeat, he slouched back into his desk chair. Maybe Mikey was right. Maybe it was time to call in Draxum, much as Leo would rather eat a bucket of nails or light fire to all his limited-edition JJ comics than say it out loud. Mad scientist psycho or not, the Yokai understood a lot more than Leo did, in this one area anyway. And while they were at it, maybe they’d been looking at things all wrong. If a science-based solution wasn’t available, maybe a mystic solution could help? It would be the most delicious kind of irony, given Donnie’s historic skepticism of anything mystical or magical. Maybe their father could take a trip to the mystic library, or they could send one of the Casey’s to Witch Town. So long as they didn't drop Donnie's name in any conversations it would probably be...
A pained snarl cut through his thoughts, and he whirled the chair around to find Donnie bucking against his restraints, head thrown back in a terrible arc as he gasped for air.
"Whoa! Easy D!" Leo exclaimed, jumping out of his seat to reach for the oxygen mask and tank that April and Casey Jr had kindly "liberated" from April's school following the Krang invasion. "Just keep breathing Dontron, in and out."
His twin hissed in response, pants deepening to a guttural growl as Leo approached and attempted to press the mask over Donnie's nose and mouth.
"Come on man, you're doing great. This is going to help you do even better, so chill out a little and I'll-"
Faster than lightning Donnie struck, neck muscles stretched and strained as he ducked around the mask and sunk his teeth deep into the flesh of Leo's forearm.
"OW!" Leo yelled, the oxygen mask slipping from his fingers as they spasmed open in shock. "Dee, let go!"
Donatello snarled in reply, sharp teeth sinking and shredding as his jaws clamped down on Leo's limb.
"Get OFF!" Leo bellowed, jamming the thumb of his free hand into the pressure point just behind the soft shell’s jaw. It took way longer than it should have for Donatello’s teeth to release him, too many long, painful seconds before Leo could pull his arm away and stumble back a step from the bed, cradling his injured limb close. Torn flesh burned against the open air, pain licking out from fingertip to elbow while small crimson streams braided into rivers as they raced across his skin to follow gravity to the floor.
“What the shell?!” Leo snapped, free hand clamping down over the injury as he stumbled towards the cabinet that held their stock of bandages.
Donnie hissed again in reply, and Leo had to fight the urge to cringe away from the way his blood smeared across his brothers lips and chin, the way it painted his sharp teeth when said lips peeled back in a snarl. Dark eyes followed every jerky move as he fumbled with trying to disinfect and wrap the wound with one hand, breaths hitching as the pain in his arm built, creeping like the most agonizing ivy towards his shoulder. Slitted predator pupils zeroed in one the…wait…Donnie didn’t have slitted pupils. None of them did. Their eyes had always been human…
“What the…”
He didn’t get the chance to finish the sentence. Between one breath and the next the pain exploded, lancing up his neck and spearing deep into his chest. His jaw snapped shut around a cry as every nerve in his body seemed to simultaneously go up in flames, numb and useless legs folding like a house of cards as he hit the concrete floor of the med bay. He tried to break his fall, but his body failed to respond to any desperate command his brain tried to send. He tried to call for help, or maybe just scream, but his lungs couldn’t pull in the air he needed. He was trapped, a silently writhing vessel slowly filling up with pain.

hi! Saw the inbox was open, and wondering if I could slide in with a rise donnie boy x readerone-shot..
So essentially- donnie is STEM smart right? What if- what if reader was the opposite, like lit/history smart? Like, reads a lot, and almost never puts there book down, even when people talk to them (puts it down for donnie and gives him their full attention tho-) knows a lot about almost any point in history and adores archeology. (The only thing they understand when donnie goes science mode is biology.)
And so what if- what if reader, who's oblivious to almost everything and is a huge hopeless romantic bc of ✨️books✨️, decides to try and come up with ideas to ask donnie out in a more STEM way? But like, before they can donnie sees the list and is just like "smh ur math is atrocious/aff" and then fluffy stuff yaknow??
Lol sorry, went on a tangent. Anywhizzle, love ur writing! Don't forget to take a break, stretch and get some food and water if you need to!Have a good morning/evening/night!!! :))
U + Me = Date?
(this took a minute, but it’s such a fun and sweet request that I had a wonderful time with! Tysm, and please make sure that you’re taking care of yourself as well! Enjoy! Request guidelines are located here btw) Word Count: 2371
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everything on earth has a niche, a designated function it gets to act out, a role it gets to fill. The Cape May Warbler, Bay-Breasted Warbler, and Yellow-Rumped Warbler have the top middle and bottom of a spruce tree to eat in, respectively. Humanity has its niche of expansion, whether it be out through the globe or up in towering metropolises.
If you had to specify your niche, it would just about have to be reading. Now, of course your life is filled with numerous aspirations, but your multifarious interests can all be classified under your affinity for books.
Any form of literature, thrillers, epics, romance novels, they all did it for you, enveloped the entirety of your attention in an immersive world.
That was without a doubt: they entertained you.
At least, they made you feel inspired to do things, take action in your personal life, possibly commit to confessing certain feelings to a certain softshell turtle. Actually committing to the bit, though, was a completely different story.
In the extensive library you had under your belt, there were many a meet cute and innovative confession. However, just because it worked out in literature, it didn’t mean that you could actually do it. What if it ended up weird or cringe or downright friendship shattering?
The status quo was comfortable, subsisting off of shared time in your turtle-in-question’s lab, the two of you simultaneously performing your own tasks. You would sit and enrich yourself with a book, Donnie would tinker until he had something that piqued his interest, which happened rather frequently, and your attention would suddenly be on him. It was simple. It worked. Taking action could complicate things.
So, your inspiration remained squandered by doubt, an inkling of hope staying concealed internally.
At least, inspiration wouldn’t make anything occur unprompted, and, luckily, that nudge came swiftly.
Earlier, as you were straight chilling in a cozy bean bag chair in the lair’s living room, you saw Donnie enter the room out of your peripheral vision. However, he only seemed like a purple blur because your attention was on the thick, dense book sitting on your lap. The cover was of a similar slickness and feel to that of a textbook, the size was as well, but this read was solely for entertainment. The content could practically be summed up as history of the entire world, i guess but fleshed out with more anecdotes and primary sources.
You had been soaking in a finely written excerpt entailing early hominid tool use, accompanied by an image of a related artifact, when you felt a presence leaning over your shoulder. You opted to continue your train of thought through the lines until you heard a familiar timbre clear its throat behind you. With a sigh, you placed a finger on your spot and faced one Donatello.
“Something the matter?” You blinked slowly.
“Oh, nothing,” he shrugged, expression seeming intentionally cool, “just checking out the book choice for today.”
You lifted the book from your lap to display the contents to him.
His eyes skimmed over the page before he grinned slightly. “Ah, prehistoric archaeology? I could dig it.”
You pursed your lips, trying to keep your thought from spilling out of your mouth before ultimately giving in to your amusing whims. “Leo ahh humor.”
Donnie gaped. “Gasp, you wound me. I rescind my statement and shall not be partaking in any archaeological reading-slash-discussion with you.”
“I’m just messing around, ‘Tello. I can dabble in some crude wordplay.”
“Crude?”
“Crude. Heck, I’d bargain to say that was more archaic than the sector of human history I’m in right now, and they don’t even have wheels.”
He raised a curious brow, visibly less offended. You could work with that.
“Rather intriguing. Care to join me?” You patted the ample space on the bean bag next to you.
Curiously, he stared at you, then the space you were offering, and back, before slipping beside you.
“Care to enlighten me on this subject?” he parried, and with a grin, you were off, describing the main theme of the page, the early development of primates and humans, as well as outside archaeological examples that you knew of, the whole nine yards.
As you rambled on, you locked eyes with him occasionally, and his eyes were intrigued saucers every time you did. It made something in your brain click.
He played along with your banter. He was sitting right beside you, absorbing your words so vehemently and genuinely and ohmigosh this guy of all people wouldn’t judge you for trying something that could be weird. Heck, he’s a fanatic of oddities, anything mystic or scientific, so if he didn’t like you asking him out, at the very least he’d admire the effort. So, you were inspired to try something, finally take some action.
You were going for it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You set to work on your asking-out endeavor as soon as you arrived home.
At first you tried looking at STEM-related pickup lines.
Sardonically, of course. You wanted something that got your point across without seeming too vulnerable, something you could play off in the scenario you got completely and irrevocably rejected.
“I less than three you… That’s not that bad,” you scrolled through the results of your search, perched at your kitchen table.
You only made it down the list to ‘the square root of all my fantasies is you’ until you actually needed to call it quits on that route. There was a fine line between being intentionally corny and the monstrosity that was that line.
So you took the next completely logical leap: concocting a page full of intricate mathematical and scientific questions, the answers of which spelled out an encrypted message.
It was the sane thing to do.
4  1  20 5          20 15 13  15  18  18 15 23 ?
D  A  T  E          T   O   M   O   R   R  O  W ?
You scribbled the message on a scrap piece of paper. You entertained the idea of writing a whole sentence, but just these two words covered the gist clearly and concisely. Plus, coming up with questions for only two words was enough to melt your brain.
“Limit as x approaches sixteen of the square root of x… equals… yeah, four. That works,” you mumbled. “One down,” you sucked in a deep breath, “eleven to go. Crud.”
The next few hours blended together aimlessly, riddled with just about every mathematical scenario you could conjure up. Sure, derivatives and Planck’s Constant and the unit circle (the bane of your existence) were all ambitious topics to have on the totally inconspicuous worksheet, but, to quote a phrase, go big or go home. When in Rome also works.
By the time you reached ungodly hours in the night, you had curated a functional way to surprise and ask out your best friend. With your brain oozing out of your ears, you put the paper somewhere safe and collapsed face down on your bed.
You would have mentally prepared yourself to give him the paper tomorrow if not for the calculus-derived headache already splitting your mind.
Instead, you immediately dozed off.
You could deal with the minutiae of tomorrow… tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day when you waltzed into the lair, he was conveniently seated at the desk in his lab.
“Heya D! I come bearing gifts.” You presented him with the paper as coolly as you could, keeping all the panic and nerves internal, and took up the chair beside him.
“A calculus sheet?” He grinned. “You shouldn’t have.”
After a moment of looking at it, however, his eyes dimmed and smile lessened. “...You shouldn’t have.”
You faltered. “Oh, gosh, is it that bad?”
“Which letter corresponds with negative one?”
“What?” you exclaimed. “Oh nononono no, I checked my math like five times, it’s not even possible-”
“The derivative of cosine theta is negative sine theta. Not positive. Simple mistake, really. It was a valiant effort of- whatever you were trying to do.”
You blinked, smacked your lips. Well, that was the end of that. You would just take your leave and move out of the city and change your name and never feel anything again. Easy.
“Just forget I did anything, forget this paper exists- like, what paper even?” You reached for the sheet of paper only for him to use the mechanical extensions on his battle shell to hold it out of your reach.
“No, my interest is piqued,” he smirked. You could almost feel the mischievousness emanating from him. “I will gladly continue, if you do not mind.”
You complied and sat stiffly, anxiously glancing about the lab, until you saw him pick up a utensil and start marking on the paper.
“Are you correcting it with a pen? Are you seriously grading this right now?” you muttered. You weren’t mad, just thoroughly panicked.
He stopped writing momentarily. “What? No, not grading, per say. This is just how I’m deciphering this.”
You knew that tone and you knew that was a lie.
“I- ugh,” you flopped your head down on his desk and closed your eyes. “Just tell me when you’re done fixing it. I spent a needlessly long amount of time on this just for it to be terrible.”
He didn’t deny that it was terrible, though you excused that to him being busy and hopefully not him agreeing.
Although, with how quickly his pen was scratching marks on the page, the latter seemed more feasible.
You focused on taking deep, steadying breaths, relaxing to the sounds of the busy pen until it suddenly stopped.
Lifting your head from its place, you saw he had completely stilled, staring at the paper with wide eyes and upturned lips.
“What? Did you spot another comically egregious mistake?” you mumbled, halfway intrigued.
He took another few seconds to answer you. “Something like that.” And with that nothingness of an answer, he started writing again, much more fervently.
“Okay then.” You went to put your head down again before he slammed the paper down before you.
“Boom! Here is the revised and finalized version of the worksheet,” he grinned.
You narrowed your eyes at the comments about your inability to include units, corrections on when something was supposed to be negative, but the markings at the bottom of the page were what caught your attention the most.
When you looked at the corner of the page, you saw an odd combination of zeros and ones.
01101111 01101000 00100000 01111001 01100101 01110011 00100000 01110000 01101100 01100101 01100001 01110011 01100101
“Actually, what is this?” You gestured to the code.
“It’s my response.”
“And you had to put it in binary?”
“You’re the one who wanted to talk in codes.” He sounded frustratingly nonchalant.
“Yeah, but-” you considered asking him to directly tell you, but maybe this was slightly less nerve wracking. Ripping off the bandaid be darned, you took the coward’s way out and pulled out your phone. “Man, I let you get away with way too much stuff. Has this interaction not dragged on painstakingly enough?”
“The greater the hardship, the greater the reward,” he commented with a shrug.
That pleasant surprise of a response made you copy the ones and zeros faster into the binary decoding website you’d searched up.
Just as you had everything in and your finger steadied over the button that would tell you what he was saying, you hesitated, steadied yourself with a deep breath, and hit it.
Nothing could have prepared you for the rush of adrenaline and euphoria that washed over you at seeing his answer.
“Ohmigosh, you’re serious?! Because you cannot be joking like this, Donatello.”
“As the plague.” One of his hands rested on his chest, the other was in the air as if taking an oath.
“Haha, yes!” you cheered, spinning the desk chair you were in. The late night and headache had paid off, and it felt great!
“So, where am I accompanying you tomorrow?” He mused.
Immediately, you paused. You’d only spent time thinking about the part where you ask him out, not the actual going out part.
“Where? Uhh, I hadn’t really gotten to that point of the planning stage.”
“You were too focused on biffing a math paper to actually plan out its intended purpose?”
“Yeah, not my brightest decision, nor my best work. It was a rather dumb decision on my behalf.”
“You are a dum-dum, but just because of how needlessly complex you made this, not because of your mathematical errors.”
“I genuinely don’t know if I should take offense to that or not.”
“Maybe you should be thinking about where we’re going tomorrow? Just a thought.”
You clicked your tongue. “Fine, uhh coffee?”
“A little trite for a first date, no?” Donnie propped his elbow up on the desk and rested his chin on his hand, smiling widely.
“Okay then, coffee and we go to the library?”
“Don’t we normally do that anyway? What about it makes it a ‘da-”
“Donnie, I am running on fumes from making the erroneous atrocity that is that worksheet last night. If you don’t have any suggestions, coffee at the library works. If you have a contribution, go right ahead.” You put your hands up in surrender.
Donnie’s smugness faded slightly and he lightly nudged your elbow. “Coffee at the library sounds great. And for what it’s worth, I appreciate that you tried to do something innovative. It was truly a highly admirable effort.”
“Thanks, D.”
“Of course.  But from now on, let’s leave the math to the professionals.”
There it was again: the sass.
“Oh, that’s a low blow.” You shook your head, still smiling.
“A low blow would be mentioning how you confused the natural logarithm for a standard logarithm. You see, when you have e to the power of…”
The corrections and banter flourished on from there, the both of you giggling and getting mockingly, lightheartedly angry with each other.
Despite your interests in different subjects, the two of you understood each other. It was wonderful to have a partner that you could be niche with wherever and whenever.
It was almost worth all the math and science it took to get there.
(I actually made inconspicuous math worksheet that reader made for Donnie, and it is linked HERE!)
The archivists I spoke to were confident that much less government data will be permanently lost than was initially feared. But they also saw little reason for complacency. “What we don’t know is how much material has been changed,” Mark Graham, the director of the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, told me. His team is tabulating how many dot-gov pages with certain keywords have been modified or deleted; in the lead are “health policy,” “World Health Organization,” and “systemic racism.” Their backups are foundational to many of the more recent efforts to archive the federal web. But they’re also closer to “snapshots” than functional substitutes: What use is an archived F.D.A. finding aid if it’s been disconnected from back-end data, and doctors without coding skills can’t use it to research clinical trials?
“It’s a lot easier for the archival community to say, ‘Yeah, we have a bunch of data,’ than it is to say, ‘Yeah, we’re hosting a bunch of server-side applications that will help you navigate the data,’ ” Jack Cushman, the director of Harvard Law School’s Library Innovation Lab, told me. Last month, his organization released a backup of the more than three hundred thousand data sets hosted by data.gov. (At least three thousand of the originals have been removed.) They’re also working on open-source tools to make all this data navigable.
Last week, the guerrilla archiving movement reached an important milestone, when restoredCDC.org went online. It’s a replica of the health agency’s pre-Trump website based on backups from r/DataHoarder—one that’s fully functional, with a reconstructed back end and interactive tools. But fresh challenges loom. Librarians and data hoarders have been able to save only publicly available records; restricted ones, such as the D.O.J.’s National Database of Police Misconduct—or the internal records being shredded by employees of U.S.A.I.D.—may be gone for good.
Monday, March 3, 2025
I finished Moby Dick on Friday, and I decided to read some of the classic literary novels discussed in my American Lit course that we studied but didn't read. That may put me behind on my 2025 TBR, but that's okay if I don't get to all of them by the end of the year.
Friday and this weekend were busy. School work on Friday was longer than typical, so I had no extra time that evening to post since I was also finishing up Melville's novel and completed three hours of volunteer work plus dance. Saturday was more laid back with dance and an unofficial Girl Scout meeting to finish up our Voice for Animals badge. I had the evening free, but I spent that reading and catching up with family. I miss regular family game nights, so when we can have them, I enjoy them. Then Sunday was church, an official Girl Scout meeting to finish up our Social Innovator badge for the Seniors, and then more free time, which turned into a spa evening again for me. There was also piano practice sprinkled in through the weekend, Duolingo (I'm focused on French over Spanish right now), and starting The Great Gatsby. It's a lot shorter than I imagined it would be, so I should be finishing it up within a couple of days, three at most.🦄
Tasks Completed:
Algebra 2 - Completed worksheet on applications of rationals
American Literature - Vocabulary quiz (100%) + copied new vocabulary terms + read about confessional poetry + read about Sylvia Plath + read "Morning Song" + answered discussion questions about the poem + read "Blackberrying" + answered critical thinking questions about the poem
Spanish 3 - Reviewed more food vocabulary
Bible 2 - Read Psalms 24, 25, an 26
Early American History - Read about humanitarian reforms + read about Dorothea Dix + answered study guide questions
Earth Science with Lab - Read about observing the night sky + read through stargazing terminology + read about constellations
Art Appreciation - Read about Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin + completed daily critiquing assignment on The Silver Goblet by Chardin
Khan Academy - Completed U.S. History Unit 4: Lessons 3.1-3.2, 3.4, and 3.6
Duolingo - Studied for approximately 15 minutes (Spanish + French + Chinese) + completed daily quests
Piano - Practiced for two hours
Reading - Read pages 75-101 of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Chores - Cleaned my bathroom + cleaned windows in my bedroom and in the study + laundered bedding
In this post, I'll be covering the Foxbury Institute!
Similar to the University of Britechester, it's mostly the same but also opting out of one of the dormitories to give more space for Foxbury students to hang out on campus.
More details about the lots and clubs below the cut!
Tumblr media
☕ Community Lots
The two community lots will be the Foxbury Commons and the Foxbury Community Space!
Here, the Foxbury Commons are "connected" to the dormitory building lot instead of being on the lot they were before. I've never built a Community Space lot before and don't regret doing a three-in-one lot yet, so likely I'll stick with it!
I feel like it matches the very contemporary/progressive vibe that the Foxbury Institute has where students can really change how their campus looks through voting. Also think it'll be fun to give students access to all of the cool maker stuff from the Eco Lifestyle pack, those items really meld well with the Foxbury Institute's vibe, and what I imagine their students would be into...
🏠 Residential Lots
Just like with the UBrite Spirit Housing, the Foxbury Spirit Housing will be home to the Foxbury Institute student organization leaders! They'll have their own in-house robotics lab, research library, and of course private bedrooms & bathrooms!
📚 Foxbury Student Organizations & Clubs
There will also be a whole slew of new clubs for Sims to be a part of!
Foxbury Academic Staff
Foxbury Student Leaders
Foxbury Soccer Team
Foxbury ESports Team
Student Organization Clubs (Foxbury Bot Savants, Foxbury Braniacs, and Foxbury Spirit Squad)
🌱 Architectural Style: Greenwashing! Yippee!
I imagine the super innovative Foxbury Institute does have students in their distinguished programs who are passionate about the environment and whatnot, but I want the campus itself to be ironically contemporary and greenwashed. Lots of wood, green roofs, green walls, and super innovative outdoor green floors (also known as lawns)!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But definitely making it very contemporary and taking some inspiration from some of the new architectural projects in Copenhagen. These will probably be pretty difficult to actually design in The Sims 4, but looking forward to getting out of my comfort zone with the types of builds I do!
💭 Let me know your thoughts in the replies below!
Champion bio: Corina Veraza
From a young age, ▇▇▇▇▇ loved plants. Unfortunately, in the harsh environment of Zaun, plants would be killed by toxins concentrated in the soil before they even had a chance to take root, surviving only in costly greenhouses.
▇▇ heard rumors that the Chem-Baron who governed the area had built a massive underground greenhouse in their territory. Driven by curiosity and hope, she ventured near their domain. After passing layers of steel walls and terrifying weaponry, she found the high-load sewage and gas filtration systems operating non-stop. These energy-consuming machines ran day and night, likely plunging countless Zaunite civilians into misery—just to add a touch of green to the Baron’s residence. Realizing this filled the young girl with uncontrollable rage.
After the expedition, an obsession took root and sprouted in her heart: she would cover the land of Zaun with flowers—flowers that could grow freely without the need for greenhouses, to be shared with everyone.
Born into a humble Zaunite family, ▇▇ knew she might never afford the luxury of flowers and plants. She made a secret vow: first, she needed power, and power would bring her money. She had to take a path no one else would think of and defeat these factory-minded Barons at their own game. She donned her glasses and began studying relentlessly, working part-time jobs to save up for tuition. Eventually, she rose above her peers and was granted a rare exception: an admission to Piltover University.
She entered the best laboratory in the School of Biology, only to discover that it had suffered from budget cuts for years. Though Piltover, the City of Progress, praised innovation, it only funded research that could generate immediate value. Engineers and machinists thrived, while biologists were left in outdated labs with scarce materials. It was said that someone had once ventured into the mountains to capture rare living specimens themselves because the school refused to fund the expedition—and nearly died doing so.
But such difficulties did not deter her. She cherished the opportunity to study, devouring literature in the library and even studying history and the methods of political elites in her spare time. Most of her hours were spent in the lab, tirelessly operating creaking robotic arms and rusted microscopes, single-mindedly advancing her research.
Five years later, she finally succeeded. From a sample of Zaun's gray miasma, ▇▇ cultivated a mutant strain that could thrive on toxins. Not only could this strain convert chemical waste in the soil and air into nourishment, it also grew at astonishing speeds, allowing hybridization results to be observed in no time. Once fully developed, the mutant would bloom into purple-red flowers—exotically beautiful amidst the green haze. She was mesmerized, spending the entire night in the lab. She believed this was the prototype of her life's dream and proudly called it her Magnum Opus.
Just a few more generations of propagation and she could stabilize its traits, turning her dream into reality. But she was out of materials. She decided to publish some preliminary results—carefully omitting the full scope of her research—to attract more funding. Her work was groundbreaking and quickly became the talk of the academic world. Countless investors extended offers.
But the glory didn't last. Some people, sensing danger in both her paper and her identity as a Zaunite, raised alarms. The university released a statement accusing her of violating bioethics, locked down her lab, and confiscated all her work. The research would be safely continued by more trustworthy scholars. Her student status was also revoked.
She had planned to leave quietly after completing her research, but she hadn't anticipated the arrogance and cruelty of Piltover's elites. The next day, the charred body of ▇▇▇▇▇ was found inside the sealed lab. The entire space had burned down. All notes and specimens turned to ash. Only a warped, melted pair of glasses remained identifiable among the ruins.
Three years later, a new Chem-Baroness rose to power in Zaun—Corina Veraza. Her influence expanded rapidly. It was said she built labs and gardens aboveground, where mysterious flowers thrived in the toxic air and poisoned soil. These flowers absorbed poison and released venomous pollen. Their rapid growth allowed them to silently lay in ambush on a rival’s path, bringing death before anyone realized it.
Corina won battle after battle, claiming more and more territory. When not fighting, she stayed by her flowers in the lab, not speaking to anyone for days. The blooms in her garden grew ever more stunning—and ever more deadly. Though the garden was open to all, no one dared approach it. No one but her ever came out alive.
Whether it was power that changed her, or the toxic pollen that rewired her nervous system, no one could say. But Corina's ambition had long mutated into a pathological obsession with vengeance and crime. She began provoking other Chem-Barons just to cruelly kill them. Traces of pollen were found at multiple murder scenes in Piltover University. Once, on a whim, she vanished from her lab, leaving her bewildered thugs behind—only to infiltrate the Piltover police for years, just to lure Caitlyn into a carefully pre-set trap, watching with glee as the sheriff and her team were toyed with.
By the time her name topped Piltover's most-wanted list, Corina's left arm had completely rotted from long-term toxin exposure. Unbothered, she replaced it with a mechanical prosthetic on her own—and dove right back into hybridizing and modifying again. No one knows what deadly creation this criminal genius will unleash tomorrow.
Original Chinese version below
可瑞娜·瓦拉撒
▇▇·▇自小喜爱植物,可惜在祖安恶劣的环境中,植物会在生根发芽之前被土壤中富集的毒素杀死,因此只能在昂贵的温室中生长。
▇▇听闻管辖此地的炼金男爵在属地内搭建了巨大的地下温室,于是冒险接近男爵的领地,果真在被层层叠叠的钢墙和可怖的武器的保护后找到了高负荷运转的污水和气体处理装置。这样高消耗的机械日夜不停地运作,不知将多少祖安平民的生活置入了水深火热之中,而这只是为了给男爵的屋子增添一抹绿色——年纪轻轻的她想到这点,便陷入无法遏制的怒火。
冒险结束后,一个执念在她心底生根发芽:她要在祖安的土地上种满花朵,要让它们不依赖温室自由生长,同所有人共享。
▇▇来自一个普通的祖安家庭,或许一生与价格不菲的花草树木无缘。她暗自定下计划:首先她需要权力,权力则能带来金钱。她必须剑走偏锋,在没人能想到的领域打败这群满脑子只有工厂和争斗的男爵。她戴上眼镜,没日没夜地苦读,学习之余四处打工筹备学费。终于,她在祖安的学生中脱颖而出,被皮城大学破格录取。
她如愿进入生物学院最好的实验室,却得知他们已经经费紧缺了很多年。进步之城崇尚创新,却只重视能立刻创造价值的研究,机械、工程学研究员在此地如鱼得水,生物学家们却只能忍受老旧的实验室和短缺的材料,听说曾有人由于学院不批准经费,只得亲自出发抓捕罕见兽类的活体样本,险些葬身在山岭里。
这样的困难没有阻挡▇▇的脚步。她无比珍惜深造的机会,在图书馆读遍相关文献,还抽空学习了各个地区的历史,研究政坛名人的方法手段。剩余的时间,她几乎住在实验室,操作嘎吱作响的机械臂和早已生锈的老式显微镜,一心一意推进自己的研究。
五年后,▇▇终于在祖安灰瘴的样本中培养出了可以依赖毒气生长的变异体。变异体不仅能将土壤和空气中的化工废物化为己用,还具备生长速度极快的优良特性,能在很短的时间内迅速看到杂交结果。变异体发育完全后,便会开出紫红色花朵,在绿色的瘴气中无比妖艳美丽。▇▇几乎被这花朵摄去了心神,在实验室待了一整晚。她认定这便是她一生追求的目标的原型世代,满怀自豪地将其称为“旷世巨作(Magnum Opus)”。
旷世之花再进行数代繁衍便能稳定性状,将她的梦想变为现实,手头的材料却已经见底。她只能试着将早期的过程产物发表,试图在不披露研究全貌的同时赢得更多的资助。她的成果无疑是划时代的,很快成为了学界的焦点,无数投资人向她抛出橄榄枝。
可惜好景不长,有人敏锐地在她的论文中和她祖安人的身份上嗅到了“危险”的味道。学院立刻发布声明,她的研究有违生物伦理,将封锁她的实验室并没收所有成果,将其交由另一批值得信任的研究员继续推进,她的学籍也被吊销。
▇▇原本打算完成研究就自行离开学院,未曾想皮城人的高高在上与卑劣手段让自己提前在此失去了立足之地。第二天,心灰意冷的▇▇·▇的尸体在被封锁的实验室中被发现,全身重度烧伤,整个实验室的笔记与标本也一同化成了灰,现场唯一可以辨识的是在高温下熔化变形的眼镜残骸。
三年后,名为可瑞娜·瓦拉撒的炼金男爵在祖安崛起,权力版图迅速扩张。听说她在地上修建了实验室与花园,没人知道这些花朵是如何在有毒的空气与土壤中生存的。她的花朵汲取毒物,再生出剧毒的花粉,极快的生长速度让它们能悄无声息地提前埋伏在对手的必经之路,不知不觉间将他们置于死地。
可瑞娜屡战屡胜,不断扩大自己的领地。不战斗的时候,可瑞娜在实验室里与她的花朵寸步不离,数日不与人交流,花园中的花也一天比一天更加美艳且致命。她的花园对所有人开放,却没人胆敢接近,因为除她以外的所有人都无法活着从其中离开。
不知是权力改变了她,还是有毒的花粉也重塑了她的神经构造,她对权力的野心逐渐转变为对报复和犯罪的病态偏执。可瑞娜开始频繁地挑衅其他男爵,将其撩拨一番后残忍杀害;皮城学院的多起谋杀案现场都发现了花粉的痕迹;她还曾一时兴起,抛下实验室和摸不着头脑的手下们,在皮城警局潜伏数年,只为将凯特琳引入自己早已布置好的陷阱,欣赏警长与手下们被戏耍后的滑稽模样。
可瑞娜的大名登上皮城最高通缉令的时候,她的左臂也在长年累月的毒素作用下彻底腐烂。她不以为意,亲自将黑紫的手臂用机械义肢替换,接着再次投身于新一轮的杂交与改造。没有人知道,这位犯罪天才明天又会拿出怎样的致命创造。
