It's crazy to me that the most popular fictional character of the turn of the century England was a rational to a fault detective. While at the same time, the most popular fictional character in France happened to be a gentlemen thief. That's just too on the nose. It's the kind of detail you would come up with to differentiate the culture of two fictional kingdoms in some fantasy novel, not an actual historical fact.

If there's any justice in the world, we'll someday see a full on adaptation of Arsene Lupin vs. Sherlock Holmes, er, I mean Herlock Sholmes.

Sherlock Holmes vs Arsène Lupin, 1910 Translation

As promised, here are links to the 1910 "Sherlock Holmes vs Arsène Lupin" comic, in the original Portuguese, English translation, and also blank versions, for anyone who wants to translate it into other languages! If anyone can translate it into French, I know the creator of Arsenelupingc.free.fr is on the lookout for a French edition :)

Unfortunately translating something into French is currently beyond my skillset, lol.

Like I said in a post yesterday, this is more of a Sherlock Holmes comic than an Arsène Lupin comic; Arsène is more of a lazy, clumsy parody of himself, but I think that's fair considering how Sherlock was treated in the novels X'D

Wait I have a better idea: "Arsene Lupin vs. Herlock Sholmes changed to Sherlock Holmes" where everything is the same except Holmes and Watson have their actual canon personalities, instead of the contemptible asshole and toadying weenie that Sholmes and Wilson were.

A mini-event during summer 2024!

The mini-event will take place on AUGUST 25TH. The theme of the event will be BEACH.

Have you ever explored the video game side of Holmes? Have a favorite?

Not extensively? When I was a kid I spent untold hours playing the first few Frogwares Holmes games and I remember of that lot The Awakened really spooked me out, which is unsurprising given it's a crossover with the Cthulhu Mythos, but aside from that I can't think of any other Holmes games that jump out?
