yall wanna know how badly they fucked up my minecraft migration?

while moving some files around to unfuck my storage issues i have discovered that my minecraft authentication lives SOMEWHERE in my local files. on my pc.

as in

if i log in to literally ANY OTHER DEVICE

if I utilize ANY other minecraft launcher (for modded minecraft presets, for example)

it's missing whatever MYSTERIOUS authentication file is in here:

that tells microsoft that yes, I DO have the game key, I DID purchase the game in 2020 legitimately, PLEASE let me play the game as my established fockinorb handle

because if I dont, it logs me in as my default microsoft xbox account and asks me to buy the game.

'mia why don't you just go to your settings when you're logged in as fockinorb and fix that'

oh you mean this???

yeah that takes me to the exact same default ass microsoft xbox account that thinks I don't own the game

that mojang fockinorb account goes nowhere

My solution when someone asks for help about troubleshooting windows

Of course it's a Microsoft update

These updates have been a crapshoot since Windows 98. I can't remember how many times I've had to unfuck a computer.

If you have Windows 11, please turn off the Recall feature unless you have Bitlocker on your computer. This is because it takes screenshots of your PC and stores them in such a way that the screenshots could be stolen and passwords etc. taken. (It can be encrypted automatically by Bitlocker, so if you do have that enabled, turning Recall off is optional). If you want to turn off Recall, please do the following:

Please open "Settings".

Next, please click on "Privacy & Security".

Select the "Recall & Snapshots" page.

Turn off the “Save snapshots” toggle switch.

Do this for every account on the computer (the setting is saved per account).

This will completely turn off the Recall option on the account. If you use Windows 10 or earlier, you can put your feet up and relax - Recall isn't available on these operating systems. Obviously, it's a non-issue on non-Windows computers too.

Turns out, Microsoft fucked me over

Hello folks of Tumblr. Tonight comes a bit of an emergency. I did a routine restart of my PC as per usual when suddenly I get a blue screen demanding a bitlocker key. This computer is my moms old computer which she sold me around about 2 years ago and she does not remember the sign in for the microsoft account the pc used. With no money to buy a new computer and no computer to download a new OS on to factory reset the PC I have no computer.

This means no writing or digital artwork for the foreseeable future. Work on the computer is my only source of income right now, meaning I have no means of saving for a new computer until somewhere hires me (considering every place has turned me down after mentioning I'm trans, I doubt I'm getting a job anytime soon)

I do not know what to do since I cannot create art, make content, or play any of my games. I would ask for support from y'all, but I don't think I could handle begging pathetically to y'all for money. I'll include my Cashapp handle anyways in case anyone wants to help in any way, but I do not expect it.

Im sorry this happened. I wish I had a solution that would allow me to go back to making art... but Microsoft told me to go fuck myself. Next computer I get will be a Linux!

Anyways, see y'all around and pray to gods I can start making art again soon

windows/linux rant

unrelated to SMT or anything on my blog currently I guess...

I keep seeing the "prep for windows 11" thing show up on my computer, and it upsets me every time that you have to have a microsoft account to install it.

windows 10 reaches end of support next year~~

I hope by then the computer I"m using will actually let me run linux on it instead of an outdated windows os....

I want to run linux on this machine so bad but whenever I try to install it, it seems to install fine and dandy

and then it won't boot

I've snooped around in the BIOS, disabled the "smart startup" or "secure startup" or whatever else I thought was borking the boot for linux.

but it still won't boot~~~

and sadly i've got games on here that only work on windows anyway.

I'd much rather be able to stay relatively safe online and maintain an OS, than play the games I bought on steam....

something is preventing linux from booting on this machine, it upsets me when I think about it, and it upsets me more when I try to install linux and it goes fine, but then doesn't boot

cause I have to take the time to reinstall windows again.....

why computer? why won't you let linux boot? what do I need to do to you to have linux actually boot? I don't understand...

running an ASUS ROG Stryx gaming pc that I bought on impulse years ago. so you'd think linux mint would boot just fine, right??

"windows just works" you bought a whole new plug n play pc instead of upgrading from a legacy mb to one that supports uefi, converting your system disk from mbr to gpt via cmd, enabling tpm, then booting the install media didnt you
