Hot take, Ghost may at first may not be able to handle it but the people who say he would leave you alone and let you fend for yourself? Wrong. Look at that man’s home life and growing up, he knows how bad it can get and will never let you slip that far down. He loves you and he’s gonna put in effort.

Ghost isn’t a stranger to mental illness, he’s in the military and has his own that he would never admit openly. However, sprinkle in neurodivergence and he’s kinda stumped.

You infodump him alot about your interests, like a ridiculous amount but he genuinely enjoys it and finds it relaxing to see you so passionate about something.

God help the asshole who interrupts you and asks “who cares?” Bc ghost is gonna stand up quicker than anyone realizes and fucking grabs the dude by the collar and shakes him around. He is extremely protective already but any blatant disrespect??? He absolutely will not stand for it.

Stimming is fun because he lets you grab his hands and mess with his fingers, tracing your fingers across his along with tracing his tattoo. He finds it soothing and will glare at anyone who side eyes you.

He likes when you both lay in bed, with you playing with his dog tags when you lay on his chest. It’s his favorite thing in the entire world and will blush if you bring it up.

He finds himself repeating back your phrases that you take from the internet, he doesn’t even realize he’s quoting some trend bc he doesn’t use social media.

In return you start to repeat HIM and now it’s an echo chamber. Why the fuck are you developing the Manchester accent now and why does it sound so authentic-

One of the best people to be around when you’re having a depressive episode, while he won’t make you talk, he won’t let you wallow by yourself. It isn’t a strange sight for Ghost to be in your room and just sit in your proximity. He’ll hold you if you want and tell you shitty puns but if not, that’s fine.

He knows your tells and when you start to get anxious or overwhelmed and will subtly press some kind of body part of his to yours, helping you ground yourself. It’s not strange to see him sit next to you everywhere with his legs spread out, his thigh up against yours while he talks to Soap.

He doesn’t take it to heart when you start to get snappy or bitter, he acknowledges that it’s the illness and will stare at you til you’re done and then ask if you want to go somewhere.

On days where you won’t leave your bed, he’ll make sure to bring you easy meals and water to make sure you’re at least taken care of before he leaves for the gym. Kissing you on your forehead and telling you to call if you need anything.

Ghost fucking spoils you, will buy you anything your little heart desires even if you have the money yourself. Bro will go on Etsy and find things he think you’d like and will buy it for you

He doesn’t understand the obsession with these fictional characters but hey if they make you happy

Ghost is your person, the one you go to when you’re feeling good and the one you go to when you’re at your lowest and he doesn’t care which one you’re feeling, he loves being that person for you. It makes him feel loved and important in ways he hasn’t felt in a very long time, if not ever.

You apologize so often about being a burden and he’ll always gently shake you by your shoulders and will remind you that “I would not be doing this if I didn’t want to, yeah? You’re my partner. We’re a team sweetheart. You’ll never be too much for me.”

Seven Years Too Soon by NightFuchia. Basically what if a much younger Sonic accidentally set Shadow free from Prison Island. It has awesome characterization and happens to be one of my favorite stories. The rest of Team Sonic is also present

Brotherhood's Twist by @/drawloverlala even though I don't think it counts entirely as Au but it still sort of does. Unbreakable Bond ageswitch due to Zeti's meddling.

Passion's @sonic-tangled-au . I love it! So very much. The lore and backstories are so good.

Noonui's World Restored in Imbalanced Chaos au. Extremely engaging and good. Has a bunch of world building and fun concepts and lore.

Sonic's Super Totally Awesome Mixtape, though it seems to be discontinued, I'm not sure. It's pretty good so far! Takes place in the movie verse.

@brainworms-all-night-long is working on a Dreamtale Au which I'm hyped for. The tag in use is 'dreamtale and sonic tomfoolery'.

@/the-starlight-project comic is pretty good too. Mystery! And emotions. So many emotions ough.

The Fair Folk by Irritable_Fabulamancer, this fic is one of my favorites! Team Sonic as Fae my beloved! I love fae AUs.

On that note, if you're alright wanting to read a Fae!AU which is pretty much a sonadow fic, there is also I don't believe in fairy tales [but I believe in you and me]. Fantasy and Fae! Satbk inspired, another one that had me hooked.

My Arms Are Blue by thekyuubivixen and its unofficial, fan-continuation (My Arms Are Blue! Final Four Edition) by PlaystationPassenger. The story doesn't completely count as an AU but I'm recommending them anyway cuz they're really really good and has that watching your own show from different dimension trope. It's also hilarious and fun.

Burning Arrow, Wildfire Heart by Taranea is SatSR novelisation AU with Sonic's other friends present too, it's pretty fun. Not very accurate regarding the desert but it's a good read and I come back to reread it often. Must read in my opinion. Just don't dare use it as guide for desert travel or you'll be shriveled up in the sand somewhere

This fic. Read it, I will not elaborate this one. Just trust me :]

And don't miss out on @shadofiredragon's Legends Never Die fic. It's a future fic! And an awesome one. I won't spoil much but it is so good. She also has lots of fun AUs in the works.

Down the Foxhole series by MoonlitNightin. Sonic Prime AU series which is great! Tails' pov. The Shatterverses have their own Sonics. Engaging and great.

Feel free to check out @/Son1c's 10verse and other AUs. Those are some pretty great ones. Love the different lore and variants given to the Shatterverses in 10verse.

Spirit of the Wind by TrenchCoatGecko. Satbk inspired fantasy au. Sonamy, has focus on magic and lore and other characters as well.

The Buzzsaw Dillemma by redpenship. I haven't personally read it myself but I've heard many good things about it, especially it's world building.

Incomplete and won't be updated anymore but if you haven't read them yet, DO NOT miss out on Ghosts of the Future and The Murder of Me fancomics by Evan Stanley (spiritsonic) and Gigi Deutrix (gigi-D) respectively. They're a must read. Both are available on DeviantArt.

The Heart of a Monster comic, @/the-heart-of-a-monster. It's in progress and updates regularly. Unleashed retelling, really really good with some extra lore and everyone involved.

Sometimes the Picket Fence isn’t Perfect and Sharp Edges (Sonic Prime AU) series by @/skimmingthesurfaces. I'm holding off the first one to read later, like that one book you've been saving so I'm not sure if it completely counts as an AU, still putting it in recs, and the second one is intriguing so far. I have heard a lot of good thing about the Picket Fence series.

Dark Boom by Smash50. The entirety of Team Dark in the Sonic Boom universe. Alongside it, there's also Boomtober by the same author.

It Always Snows by the 24th by Selendred had me hooked even though it's a oneshot. Great au and would love to see it explored more.

No One said I Wish by SylWritesStuff. One of my fav stories from the Sonic Platonic Fairytale Week event. It's really funny.

Sonic Phantom Forces (SPF) au comic. Sonic Forces au, blue boy gets taken away but not in the way you think, pretty cool story so far. It's in-progress and available on both Tumblr and DeviantArt. @/spfau

If Black Doom tried to be a better father by Tirainy. Don't take this one seriously. It's pure comedy and I love every second of it. Shadow is having a time for sure XD.

Silent Talkers by @brainworms-all-night-long. Takes place in the Prime Bros verse, feels intensified, all the good ones. A must read, trust me.

The Sonic Project by SconnieSA. Rated M but it's a pretty awesome AU and the rating is due to more serious themes and uncensored language in some parts. Highly recommending this one

Survivor's Resolve by DC111. Not entirely an AU but I must rec this fic it's so good and doea havs some AU vibes.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Attorney of Law by thedraconicwerewolf. Ace Attorney type AU with Sonic and Tails as main characters. Not too adventurous but very very fun and interesting and still managed to keep Sonic in character. Though it has a sequel started, I only rec the main story, not the sequal as it seems to be abandoned and isn't needed to be read like them cliffhanger stories.

beLIEve by Meow21. I have only read snippets from this, waiting for this story to continue but it seems to be discontinued. Felt like an epic story too and deserves to be recommended.

Sonic and the Golden Journey. Sonic gets thrown in another storybook, this time it's a children's classic fairytale. Short but very comedic and fun. Go read it.

Tales of a Samurai. I am begging you to read this one, please it's so good. Also by Taranea.

Wonderful and it's sequal Sanctuary by Inflamore for some Unbreakable Bond angst. (Kindly ignore the obliviousness of earlier ff.net for not knowing the meaning of certain symbols, there's nothing of the sort in story, trust me.)

Regrets by MazzyBooks. A high school au of sorts. Sonic centric with some heavy angst. I'm not kidding about the angst part, trust me. It had me hooked from the first chapter though and I believe it deserves a rec.

You need the cracks (to let the light shine through) by king.needlemouse. Istg this is the most underrated thing I've ever come across, it's one of my absolute favorite fics which I can never forget. Do read it.

Within this Nightmare by sonicfan1990. Sonic get transported to an alternate universe which has gone post apocalyptic and his counterpart in that universe has been dead. Pretty great story, lots of angst and everything.

I was walking towards Rei’s room, going past a milliard of certificates, ribbons, and medals with her name. Even though she’s only been playing for only two years, the coaches and other instructors never failed to recognize her skill, Which I am happy about. All her hard work had paid off, all those late-night practices, she deserved everything that was coming for her. 

I knocked first then entered, she was watching an old taping of a soccer match of a team I didn’t know. She paused the video and looked over at me. She’s a really big fan of PXG along with other teams, she mostly kept tabs on Julien Loki, Michael Kaiser, and well, Rin itoshi. 

“What is it, Mom?” 

I sat down on her bed while hiding something behind my back. 

“So you remember when I told you that my boss’ son played for manshine city?” 

“Yeah!!??! Reo Mikage is so cool!! And!! They’re playing league soon too!! I’m excited to watch their match!! They're playing against PXG right?!?!?!”

“Yeah, they’re playing against PXG on Friday. Then I pulled out the plane tickets along with the tickets for the match, which were VIP as paid by my boss, he’s just so proud of his son you know?

She was sitting up now, so starstruck at the news I just gave her. Then she suddenly hugged me.

I smiled and hugged her back, after a few minutes of quiet, she suddenly got out of my arms and started jumping. 

“I can’t believe that I’m gonna watch the La Liga match!!” 

She was jumping and screaming all over her room, then she started rambling about what she was gonna wear, she even asked me if she could a PXG or a Manshine Jersey. 

Right now I’m not even worried if I was gonna be in the same place as Rin, I was just glad that she’s happy

In the end, she got a PXG shirt, My boss seemed to be unbothered by it, I think. We weren’t sitting with them though, Somehow the organizers got our tickets mixed up because instead of us watching from the VIP upper box, we were now seated at the front row, so very near the PXG players. Faith maybe? I don’t know, but Rei was really happy with the mixed up. I was wearing some jeans with a fitted turtle neck sweater with sneakers. I wore a hat that covered my red hair, and I wore sunglasses and a face mask. Good thing it was cold enough here. I am still very nervous about seeing Rin, only because I wouldn’t know what to say to him, or how I should react. 

I’ve made scenarios at night about meeting him before, but now that the possibility of meeting him was close to 100 was nerve-wracking. Meanwhile, Rei was buzzing with excitement, I mean who wouldn’t? She was gonna see her favorite football players play right in front of her.

I watched as people filled in the seats, then after a few minutes the opening ceremony started. They said some stuff, then the players started coming out, Rei was squealing happily beside me while standing on her seat, while I was holding her so she wouldn’t fall. 

The more players that were coming out the more my anxiety was getting worse. Then he came into the light, I had to remove my sunglasses so that I could see him more clearly. Seeing him in person was different from seeing him on a screen. 

He hasn’t changed much, apart from his physique, he was still the same rin I fell in and out of love with. His hair was a little longer, his face looked more mature, and his under-lashes reminded me of Rei’s. As they lined up to sing the national anthem of their respective countries I put my sunglasses back on. We stood up to pay respects, and after the ceremony, the game immediately started. 

Since we were near the bench of PXG, they were walking towards us, I kept my head low but Rei on the other hand was standing up on her seat to get a good look at the players. 

“Mama! Can you carry me for a bit?? I just wanna see the players please” 

At first, I wanted to refuse, but I can’t. So I stood up, took her in my arms and we stood near the railings. I kept my head lowered, my face still covered by my mask and my hair covered with the scarf. Meanwhile, rei’s red hair was standing out, while I looked like someone who was allergic to the sun. 

People around us started cheering and calling out the names of the players, which meant they were in front of us, Rei started calling out for Loki, Rin along with the other players. I took a peak and saw the players standing in front of us, they were waiting for the ref to give them the signal to go into the playing field. 

My heart was beating hard, he was right there in front of me. 

“Itoshi!! Loki!!!” Rei screamed their names, at first I didn’t think that they would look, but they did. Much to my luck. I met eyes with Rin. Rei was waving at them, and Loki waved back. Meanwhile, rin on the other hand was just staring at us, he looked like he was trying to remember something. I looked away, turning my head to the side not wanting to lock eyes with him anymore. Who knew a simple action would have the biggest impact on him? 

At that moment you turned your head, and his eyes were met with your red hair, his world stopped spinning. Then he looked at the kid you were holding, She had the same color of hair, but has eyes just like his, she even had the same under-lashes as his. Then everything from the last time you two met up came flooding in, He didn’t know what to think, his mind was blank as he just stared at the kid you were holding. Then he thought, ‘Is she mine? Did she get pregnant? Is that why I haven’t heard from her after all these years?’  Like a miracle, you turned your head back to him, his eyes were wide, he didn’t want to make assumptions but a part of him was hoping that it would be you. 

He didn’t have enough time to think about you two anymore because Loki tapped his shoulder saying that it was game time. He shook his head after looking at you two one last time. Then ran off to the field following his teammates, he tried his best to clear his head, but you were just plaguing his head again.

hi! bit of a random question, but how do you view hecatia's and junko's relationship? I've seen a lot of different takes over the years (some completely domestic, basically-married ones, versions where the border between their friendship and something else is more blurry, etc) and I'm always curious about other people's preferences for them specifically since it's a pretty popular ship

Thank you for the ask! I don’t really get to talk about shipping on this blog too often even though I do enjoy it so I'm grateful for the opportunity. My preferred take of junheca is honestly just to take Hecatia’s LoLK bio at face value and expand upon that. In other words, the core of this relationship - and what makes it fun to me - is that Hecatia thinks Junko’s grudge is the coolest thing in the world and thus goes along with her schemes. The bio essentially makes it sound like work as a tag team: Junko has the ideas and Hecatia has the means. It’s simple, but it’s a setup which has a lot of potential. I see it as an abstract fascination which gradually turns into love on Hecatia’s end. I actually don’t have quite as clear of an image of the relationship’s development on Junko’s side. Perhaps it could be interesting if she didn’t quite realize what sort of feelings she is developing but simultaneously kept pushing her scheme further and further into a direction which requires more direct involvement from Hecatia. In any case, Hecatia’s bio highlights it didn’t take them much time to realize they work well together so I like to think it was love at first sight in some capacity even though it was combined with other feelings. Many of my other preferences regarding junheca basically just extend what can be gathered from Hecatia’s bio to other spheres of activity. I generally think Hecatia is more affectionate, for instance.

I don’t mind domestic portrayals, but I do admit that for me the appeal comes in part from the way they are both involved in the plot of LoLK so that’s not my absolute favorite. Granted, coming up with scenarios where they are working on some sort of plan together is much more troublesome, so it’s not surprising that’s not exactly a common fanwork premise.

As far as I can tell, highlighting Hecatia’s fascination with Junko’s endeavors is pretty rare in fanworks. It’s not uncommon for people to portray her as concerned over Junko’s grudge or outright trying to dissuade her from it - I will admit I’m not a huge fan of that and do not fully grasp where it came from. Not from the game, that’s for sure; and what few reappearances Junko and Hecatia got since do not really point into that direction either.

seventymilestobabylon is a jack of all trades. Whether it be angst, fluff, smut, action, humor, emotional highs and lows – they manage to be fantastic at all of it. Reasons why I love it: I love everything about this fic. Tony patching Steve up, drinking hot cocoa, Steve wearing a goddamn Hagrid coat, it's all great. I especially love how they manage to misconstrue everything about each other's intentions, even when they're telepathically linked. We stan a lovable train-wreck ship. This fic is amazing, and I really hope you give it a shot, if you haven't read it already!

Bring Him Home

Pairing: Steve/Tony, Sam/Bucky Rating: E Words: 13,769 Tags: Fix-it, Post-CA:CW, Flip Phone

Summary: Tony misses Steve very badly after the Accords. Some days he deals with it better than other days. (a fic featuring the booty call flip phone, minor kidnappings, and time jumps between chapters because the election has been happening and my brain has been too mush to make a proper plot)

Reasons why I love it: Steve just plays a whole fucking symphony on my heartstrings in this one. He's so vulnerable and sad and I just want to wrap him in a thousand blankets, Christ. Luckily Tony is there for him when he needs it the most. I love how this fic manages to wrap up the whole Civil War drama without any extensive focus on the politics, it's really refreshing. And the dialogue is amazing. I love this fic, and I bet you will too, so give it a shot!

Reasons why I love it: Oh my god, Steve's merry band of Young Avengers are the cutest. Joyce Rumlow is such a genius idea as the neighborhood Karen, and I love how Steve sticks to his friendly demeanor always, committed to doing things the right way. Plus, the entire Stony plot going on parallel to the neighborhood drama is so fucking good, it makes me grin like an idiot. This fic is amazing, and I highly encourage you to read it!

So glad I am not the only going completely feral over the next 911 episode 🤣🤣 I love reading the tags on my latest 911 gifset. We're all dying.

It's like my perfect whump episode scenario if I'm honest. Whumpee is severely injured due to an accident/environmental situation, team stunned and nearly unable to help them, incredibly worried teammates, cpr needed, ambulance ride, hospital stay, intubation, team sitting by whumpees bedside, actually seeing the team worried and freaking out. I was so mad we didn't see worried team in the hospital after Bucks leg was crushed in 2x18. Though the rescue scene is my favorite scene in the whole show. Possibly my favorite scene ever or at least top 5.

So yeah, if there's also actual fallout in the next few episode it may just kill me. If we see Buck waking up confused and having memory issues (or even better, having memory issues for the rest of the season) or having headaches, muscle pain, hearing issues etc. Overprotective 118 fam. Bobby being a panicky dad. Any of that and I will die I will DIE.

I cannot wait til Monday. I cannot wait to see what the actual episode brings! I am very excited!

• Parties are not his thing, but gosh, when I hear the music, he joined Leo to be the center of the track

• he danced with anyone who wanted to dance next to him, it didn't matter that he was a mutant

• he was so shy and afraid to dance at first, he didn't want his size to be an obstacle

• But when they called him to "Take down the boyfriend" taking the role of the tower, he was flattered

I am very here for this vampire AU and neck/throat appreciation/biting. hello again anon! yay boston!! absolutely one of my favorite cities. i am home now and even though i love home i am missing it already. just a lovely place to spend a lovely long weekend with lovely friends (whom i also miss already 😭😭😭). i am, i'm sorry to tell you, anti-boston sports (me being an east coaster NOT from boston, i feel like this shouldn't be a surprise), but y'all do always seem have a handful of players i love anyway, and even i must admit fenway is one of the most fun ballparks i've ever been to. the bruins sadly were not in town, but we went to the bc vs. denver game on saturday, and on sunday we schlepped out to worcester for a railers game, and both of those were very fun 💞

but onto the more important topic: our beloved rat boy. a concept related to your original ask i am currently mulling over is one where they are Totally Just Frenemies Who Occasionally Sleep Together (they used to be rivals who occasionally slept together but leon is not going to call anyone who plays in florida a "rival") which means that matthew can fuck whoever he wants. and does. and tells leon all about it while they hook up, and for some reason comes out of these hookups looking like leon tried to eat him alive. perhaps he will need to invest in a tshirt that he hasn't mutilated so that he can talk to the media in the days afterward without showing off all the teeth-shaped bruises he seems to have acquired. surely this all means nothing. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

That being said I do love the idea of a Ethan/Chris/Heisenberg three way lmaoo. 👀👀 And damn do I love a down bad pining Chris Redfield. While I don't think Chris/Karl is compatible in any in character or healthy sense, the idea of both of them tag teaming Ethan is my favorite. Chris being sappy and whipped as hell for Ethan and trying to "treat him nice" while Karl practically hate fucks/ roughly handles Ethan like the brat he really is, is my fave contrast haha. What are your thoughts on the dynamic? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Sorry to burst your bubble, anon, but the key point of that footnote about my fic-in-progress was the bit that came after it ‒ "but only if you take 'threeway' to mean 'an argument that rapidly devolves into violence.'" If you're looking for actual threesome action (romantic or sexual), I'm afraid you won't be finding it with this one.

It is likely to be about as close to Ethan/Chris-fic as you'll ever see from me (hence the joke) ‒ and if you're up for seeing Chris and Heisenberg fight over Ethan's loyalties (or possibly just over Ethan) while Ethan himself stands in the middle trying to figure out how the fuck this is his life, then this may be more your speed! But as much as I enjoy the image of Chris and Heisenberg fighting over Ethan, to get me into Chris/Ethan otherwise, we'd have to start by taking Chris at face value as the horrifically violent, confusing, trainwreck of a character he actually is in RE8 (occasional 180 into overly-earnest dude who just cares so much about Ethan a bonus, provided it's not overplayed). And that just doesn't seem to be the side of his character most of fandom seems to want to engage with.

Now, if you want to hear my thoughts on the possibilities of Ethan/Heisenberg/Mia ‒ that I could go on about!
