I've seen ppl say that it's okay to know that your 3d will conform soon. But ppl always say to affirm that the 3d has conformed INSTANTLY (like, the SECOND you affirmed/decided to have something) because doing the former could unknowingly put you in a state of WAITING for your 3d to conform, & constantly pushing your manifestation into the future. BUT THEN AGAIN, ppl will say that "the 3d always gives you results INSTANTLY, BUT that the results aren't visible to our eyes yet because they're "still within the realm of the unseen" (which i think just means imagination/the 4d, the thoughts of other ppl, etc).

So my question is: WHICH IS IT THEN?

Because I KNOW, instant manifestation is possible, 'cause you can materialize $1billion in your bank account or revise a drastic appearance change in seconds, but I just don't understand what exactly these ppl mean by "you're results are always instant. you just can't see them in your 3d right now".

(idk, maybe I need to stop reading just EVERY & ALL blogs 'cause even though most of the info is the same, maybe I'm just getting confused by how differently everyone explains it😭)

I was thinking of making a post like this so i am very glad you asked :)

firstly let’s talk about the instantaneous aspect:

The difference is internally vs externally. Internally is instantaneous, and externally (3d) can be instantaneous but people tend to be too busy looking for the desire and thereby internalising not having it. Thus 3D also will reflect not having it. The 3D will instantly start bringing it you though.

If you order a package from (some place far away) and cannot see the package in your hands rn you don’t start saying ‘it isn’t mine’, you know it is yours and on its way to you. Whether you focus on it being yours, or it being on the way to you doesn’t matter, both ways you know it is yours.

Essentially as soon as you decide you have your desire, or start affirming for it, you have your desire internally. Since the 3D is a reflection of your internal world, your dominant thoughts / assumptions, it instantly starts to manifest physically, bringing your desire - understand that your desire can come about in all kinds of ways (the unfolding) . Mountains will move if they need to for. Honestly as soon as you internalise the decision that you manifest instantly - you can. But if the way you ‘try’ to manifest instantly is by saying your affirmation then looking everywhere in your 3D for it, you aren’t understanding manifestation. it’ll come to you - literally in seconds - but looking for it is what is gonna make it not manifest, because looking for it is just reaffirming the dominant thought / state or identity of you not having it. Like seriously just let it come to you, it will.

do not allow the 3d to tell you what you can and cannot have, since it is only a mirror of you.

Now this is what feeds into the idea of ‘waiting reaffirming you don’t have it’

Yes, if you sit around waiting, staring at your phone for the text from your sp and only thinking about how it isn’t there - you are reaffirming you don’t have it. I personally do not believe this is the same thing as using “i will receive” (or just future tense affirmations) as long as you claim you have it internally, or you are saturating your mind with the knowing it is becoming yours. (this really depends on if you’re more of a states / feeler person or robotic affirmations person) at the end of the day in both scenarios the only thing preventing you from not manifesting the outcome you want (you receiving your desire) is telling yourself it’s not / never will be yours. Whether that is because you don’t see it right now or because of how you value(d) yourself in relation to your desire whatever.

So quick answer: I will be/have vs i am/have both work unless you’re gonna overcomplicate it in your mind and say they don’t. I think there are benefits to saying *desire* manifested instantly etc as your affirmation because it’ll saturate your brain with the idea that the 3D conforms instantly which is good :)

This being said, don’t demonize coaches who give example affirmations etc following a certain method/ affirmation type. Coaches / loass content creators typically are only gonna give you advice based on what worked for them, and usually if they find something that works they’ll stick with it yk, so their advice is biased to their success. And that is FINE but other methods / affirmations still work :)

Since LoAss is so broad and works for people in so many different ways (states, affirmations, visualisation, scripting) some loa coaches / cc are going to give cookie cutter routines etc to follow based on their success. As a result you may find clashing advice to follow when it gets down to specifics of different coaches’ methods. This does NOT mean that one does work and one doesn’t, they BOTH work. Just take a step back and bring it back to the basics. Avoid overconsumption.

What works?

- saturating your mind either with a state of being/ identity or affirmations

- Knowing you validate the 3D, it does not validate you

What is the only must?

- Persistance

So to summarise + a bit more

internal manifestation is instant, 3D will reflect that unless you start waivering / returning to previous dominant thought / state of being / identity that you don’t have your desire. As soon as you make the decision the you have your desire, 3D reality is working on bringing it to you so that it can reflect you correctly, until your desire is in your hands you do NOT take anything in the 3D as a sign of you not having it.

You don’t have to affirm that your desire manifests instantly - just saying you have it or are getting it doesn’t push it away - but it certainly won’t hurt :)

Try not to get too caught up on the specifics on how 10 different coaches manifest, most people don’t follow the exact same way of doing it, the thing that remains the same is some type of internal saturation. Manifestation is broad and there are so many methods to help you saturate your mind so just cause person A likes affirming “i love my blue porsche”, person B likes affirming “i am receiving a blue porsche 911 cayenne” and person C hates affirming but enjoys visualising themselves driving the porsche and embodying the feeling of having it, doesn’t mean any of them are doing it wrong, it just means they all found what works for them.

Not to sound like every manifestation blog ever but there comes a time when it’s time to stop reading/overconsuming and to start just applying. The world is your oyster as long as you allow yourself to believe it to be true.

This is just a looong thought on skating and technique...I am sure not everyone will agree with me but does that matter to me? We can agree to disagree bc neither you nor me are judges or the ISU 🤷

No matter what you think about Shoma's jumps especially the "beloved" 4F some ppl get so worked up about today again for the 544373th time in Shoma's career but truly besides skating fans who love the technical side of it and ppl who need something to complain about anyway imo most fans and casual watchers don't really care about technique. And why is that? Because most ppl can't tell jumps apart anyway, because most ppl are not interested in whether it's "perfect" technique or not, and as for Shoma because Shoma had a brilliant clean skate, because Shoma is drawing ppl in with his performance and not with his jumps and bc Shoma definetly deserved 1st place with a margin today. So really what's all the fuss about?

Some haters make it sound like Shoma getting high scores with his skate is the end of skating. I never in my entire fandom experience saw anyone say "oh Shoma or many other skaters with similar problem does not have perfect technique I am torn away by the sport because of it"...ppl come for the pretty, for the performance to the music, and yes jumps are cool and all but this is not what makes ppl stay in the fandom or get attached to skaters! Am I wrong?

Shoma is right when he said that the emphasis nowadays is too much on jumps and skating isn't this popular anymore in the world and he wants to put more emphasis on the artistry because artistic performances draw ppl to the sport. Frankly skaters not making it through their programs without falls or skate without emotion won't help making skating more popular. In the 6.0 system no one cared for the "right" technique of the jumps or underrotations it was all about the performance and if you landed your jumps. I don't pretend to understand the 6.0 system and I also don't want it back bc this system is fairer but tbh technique even today is really not the most important part of this sport imo. If some are keen on perfect technique then let's make a jumping contest and grade who has the best technique?

Ask yourself when you watched skating for the first time, did you care for the technical part or for the artistry? Did you like a skater because of their performance first or because of their technical stuff? Could you tell the jumps apart? Could you see what is UR and not? I for sure did neither know nor cared about anything technial. Did it make you NOT watch the sport bc someone had a "bad" technique? I guess not.

Ofc it's still a sport and jumps are an important part of it and ofc you have to evaluate them in a way and yes admittedly scoring is very controversial a lot of times and ISU needs reforms and more accountability of judges BUT it doesn't mean the wrong ppl win. Do I agree on all scores Shoma or anyone else gets? No I don't, but anyone seeing the protocols sees that judges aren't exactly agreeing on everything either. There is still a lot of subjectivity and anyone denying the subjective part is delusional, but there are rules in place and Shoma is neither breaking any rules nor does he judge himself and tbh if ISU would have put an emphasis on jumping technique they would never have validated Shoma's 4F in the first place bc it's not like he was never jumping it like this, tbh it actually was even much worse. This is Shoma's 9th season and the 9th season Shoma's 4F was ratified as such...for me at this point the same and same and same discussions about technique are really the least important part of skating...and it looks like ISU thinks just the same oops

So how about enjoying ice ART skating! Like the German word "Eiskunstlauf" puts the emphasis on ART in skating and I think the full package with artistry and jumps is more important than perfect technique.

And Shoma has the full package. He has the difficulty, he has the jumps even if not with "perfect" technique, he emotes to the audience, he makes ppl feel and get attached to skating, he has great deep edges, skates at lightning speed, he's a king at upper body movement and so much more. He is a brilliant skater and ppl who fail to see it just miss out on a wonderful skater. No one says Shoma's perfect but for me personally he comes pretty close. 😌

gabriel in regards to classes-he definitely prioritizes them. honestly if he had less abysmal habits and less of a habit of thinking too hard about his answers he could be better off. no doubt like hes a Good Stufent and he does well but he stresses himself out along w really (jnrealistic) high expectations he holds himself up to. def the gifted kid growing up. A and B student. sometimes a c writhes its way in there.

in regards to people- he loooooooves helping people. he loves hearing the Ohhhhh of a sudden understanding of a concept that he got to explain. very friendly and well liked but not wholly Cared about..hes used a lot just for his smarts, and like outside of helping tutor other folks theres not a lot going on socially. except for communication btwn him and his uncles(which i like to picture are the councillors. very religious family. like Crazy religious.)gabriel probably has some internalized homo/transphobia somewhere in there but he has an arc about that.

mirage and her classes - Makes half assed attempts to study in my mind, she puts her mind to it, pulls out a textbook reviews her notes etc … eventually grows bored, experiences the autism frustration of not having completed a task, and ends up in a nihilistic spiral while I Think listening to music. or texting a friend. she wouldnt admit it but music is a passion of hers. Dont tell anyone but i like to think she daydreams abiut starting a band.

mirage and her social life - she probably has a small circle of friends that are just a total fucking tar pit. she stands where she stands and they disagree sometimes but in the end none of this matters and we might as well hang out after class. actually do you wanna skip next period? etc. shes hard to get along with just because shes so horribly negative but i dont think shes outright rude. maybe has a passive aggressive or underlying tone but i dont think she means it. because none of it matters.

v2 and classes - very hard worker! vigilant and pays attention. snaps at you if youre distracting her. her bag is a bit of a total fucking mess but she’,ll get those papers after the test.( never gets the papers). She gets particularly pissed when people take their sweet sweet time moving around campus. she knows just what to say to get an extended deadline if shed ever need it. i think she has very organized notebooks themselves but again. bags a mess. dorm’s a mess. i think shed find a way to get a single dorm.

v2 and people - gets along relatively well, makes some MEAN small talk and fantastic at making a deal. no close friends though, primarily just acquaintances she waves at and asks how theyre doing.. thats about it. tries to have fun on her own.

v1 in classes - THIS FUCKING GUY. i cannot decide whether it would have straight A’s on accident or straight F’s while knowing the material SCARILY well. what i do know is it would never take notes it would never study its living a life and having fun. not a frat boy or anything tho i dont grt those vibes.

v1 with people - i dont think it has friends though on account kf It Doesnt Really Talk and a lot of other mchines dont bother to Bother with a guy who refuses to really talk. unintentionally rude somehow. creeps ppl out with the unbroken eye contact even as its doing an intensive task. verrrry expressive with bodylang though as if youve got the patience you can get a crazy convo going. like its unintentionally rude but i think its well meaning. unless if its v2. they happened to go to the same college and they have a sibling rivalry. if these two have no friends then theyve got eachother. to bully and tease.

hi sorry just speaking up on account of fun personal knowledge regarding the ask sayinng ypu should get a typewriter and your tags on said post . my personal favorite beginner level typewriters are smith-coronas, theyre user-friendly and relatively easy to maintain in my eyes. id honestly recommend looking for an electric rather than a manual for your first typewriter - its very different from writing on a modern day computer keyboard, and electrics do a relatively good job of easing you in . the keyboards are more similar to your blocky, 90s-tech keyboards you see out in the wild . my first electric was a smith-corona coronet super12 and honestly its one of the best typewriters i own; the quality is stellar, shes comfortable with me, she actually Likes Being Typed on .

manual typewriters are beasts. theyre often angry if you are not the owner theyve always known (speaking of this - a good place to look for typewriters are estate sales . usually you're lookjng at 20-50usd for a functional typewriter at an estate sale, compared to 100+ at an antique shop or online). but yes manual typewriters are angry creatures . they fight you on everything. my first manual was a hermes3000 in a light powder blue and honestly this typewriter does not like me i think. most typewriters you find out in the wild are going to need a little work - new ribbon, a nice deep clean - but will be relatively functional (esp, again, at estate sales. ppl dont usually keep broken shit). manuals are fussy and will probably want a little more out of you . my hermes needs a full realignment and more than a few of the keys stick . not optimal for your first typewriter .

most importantly - and something they dont tell you when you first start using typewriters, cough - manuals take A LOT OF FORCE TO PRESS THE KEYS. more than you are expecting. it is not like your hp or your mac or dell or alienware or whatever - you have to WORK to type on a manual. i was typing with just my index fingers for the first few months i owned my hermes because i physically couldn't 1) get a feel for the keyboard and 2) press down on the keys comfortably with my other fingers. it hurt after a little while .

that being said, owning a manual is an extremely fun little knickknack to show off. double points if its functional and you actually put it to some use . typewriters are one of those things that get better the more you use them ; you kind of have to break them in, and more use means theyre easier to work with. electrics are similar but are often more forgiving . all this to say that a manual is worth it if youre willing to make the commitment. theyre fun to use . make you feel like a 1940s office worker .

as far as actually writing goes, all manuals and early electrics are not going to have any sort of backspace functionality. honestly i think its rlly helped with being deliberate about what words im using. you can get correction tape (obviously) but it feels a little bit different . i think it helps with just getting ideas onto paper concisely .

no matter what kind of typewriter you get (if any at all) the most important thing is going to be the user manual, whether you actually have the original paper copy or a scanned version youve found online. understanding your typewriter is like reading a recipe. its important to know what each button does and how to use it . if you grew up learning typing on a computer you do not know how to use a typewriter ; youll be able to type but probably not much more . instructions are your best friend . your typewriter is an animal .

typewriters need a little more love in the world . i highly recommend looking around at garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores if youre interested in owning or using one, theyre honestly such an efficient and modernly-under-appreciated piece of technology that really revolutionized the world . thanks for allowing me to ramble i hope this isnt too unwanted

oh this is so informational thank you!! I know next to nothing about typewriters except what they look like and that they make the nice clicky noises. I don't know if I'll ever get one, but if I do it's not gonna be for a few years just because money + I'd wanna set that up and have a nice space for it once I'm living in my own place, and atm I'm still in the 'post college graduate living with parents' phase of my life.

that's really good to know about electric vs manual typewriters though!! I'd probably get an electric for my first one because I rely so heavily on my typing speed. typing stuff on my laptop is muscle memory at this point so I'd be very annoyed if my typing was super heavily impaired on a typewriter. I do know the manual ones take a lot more effort to push down. I've encountered them at antique stores before and have tried to type a tiny bit and it's definitely a challenge

Ok I need to vent about "LIKES DO NOTHING" discourse because I have had Thoughts for months now.

These are just feelings without much coherent thought put into them so lmk if I get something wrong. (LONG POST WARNING)

I'm gonna start by saying that I agree with the message that's INTENDED to be spread. Letting people know that reblogs are an important and essential part of Tumblr's ecosystem is good! Tumblr not having (much of, anyway) an algorithm is an important part to emphasize to newcomers of the website. And I know *why* people prefer getting reblogs to likes on their art purely from an exposure angle: reblogs expose the art to more people, who will themselves maybe like it and reblog it to more people.

That being said, the way people act about likes is... genuinely bothersome to me. There's a really fucking weird framing of likes as literally The Worst Thing Ever. Like you're a complete and utter monster for having the gall to show appreciation for their work. And all that really does is make ppl feel guilty about how they curate their blog. "Why would they not reblog the work then, if they like it???" Well there's many reasons! They might not want to share nsfw content to their followers. They might not want to spoil their followers with fanart of the latest episode of a show. They might have specific criteria for reblogging! Maybe they have a family member following them, and they don't want to be outed for liking queer stuff! I don't think anyone particularly owes anyone an explanation for liking only.

"Why not use a side blog to reblog then, if any of the above apply?" Because that blog won't have the followers of that other blog? Why would you want someone to reblog from a dummy account, if that account has nearly nobody following them? That would be defeating the purpose of the reblog in the first place; all you'd get out of it is an extra Note, which makes it functionally indistinguishable from a like.

Now I want to focus on the one thing that annoys me the most about the framing of this discourse: the idea that people only like because they think it'll boost the engagement. This is why I think people say ridiculous stuff like "likes do nothing". Well, let me tell you something. C'mere real close.

LIKES ARE FOR LIKING THINGS.

It's in the NAME! People "like" things to show their appreciation for a piece of art/meme/etc! I highly doubt that people who only like art do so with the delusion that what they actually help the artist get more exposure, even on other social media websites. The average layperson leaves a like to show they enjoyed a post. That's it. They don't think about The Algorithm, they just see post and hit like. That's how people act on other social media websites, and I'd wager even a good chunk of "old-hat" Tumblr users do this too.

Are they in the wrong for doing that? Well I think that varies from person to person, but I personally appreciate any interaction on an art post. Sure, reblogs get more eyes on things, and that's highly valuable to get even more likes, so I absolutely do love getting reblogs, but I'm not about to get mad at every single person who likes without reblogs. I also just think that's a very unhealthy attitude to have about art in general, which leads me to my next point:

The internet as a whole just... sucks for artists. It's an annoying and unfortunate truth, but this feeling of "oh my work doesn't get nearly enough attention as I wish it did"? I've experienced it everywhere I posted content to. Whether that was DeviantArt or Twitter or w/e, it's always been the same thing. I don't tend to accrue a lot of followers for the work I do in general, and that means that my content will only get a handful of engagements, if any at all. And I know a lot of other artists face that issue, and it's because of a very simple fact: THERE IS SO MUCH ART ONLINE. Fact of the matter is, you're gonna be fighting against others for exposure, and luck is basically the only real way people can break out of that initial circle.

And on a similar lane: fanart and memes just get more interaction as a whole because they are more "shareable". Memes are just easy to share because they're funny and very accessible to most people. Fanart isn't as accessible, but it still has a potential audience if your follower base has enough fans in it, or if you're friends with ppl who like similar things to that work. But original art just doesn't have as much of a shareability. You'd think they would be more accessible by virtue of not being tied to a fandom... but because it's not tied to something people can easily search, original art gets decimated in the interactions department, unless you have a pre-existing fanbase.

I don't think this is a problem with an easy solution. And I certainly don't think shaming people is going to be the way, tbh.

But wouldn't this be all the more reason to push back and demand that people to reblog and not just like? Well... on to my next point: The Internet at large has rarely looked kindly upon those who beg for attention and interactions. People literally make fun of calls to actions on YouTube, after all. So I fear people are going to turn on people who post things like "reblogs > likes" and whatnot. I've already noticed a good amount of people beginning to get actively mad towards this sort of attitude, and passive-aggressive polls that are like "do YOU support our reblogs in blue????". I don't think this aggressive reblog shaming trend is going to end well IMO.

But reblogs are the life source of Tumblr, right? If people don't want to reblog... then won't that kill the site? Well... I guess that's the tricky spot: for artists that need commissions to make a living, there's a genuine reason for wanting art to be shared. Exposure translates to commissions for them. And if they can't get exposure, they'll have to turn towards other means of making a living. And if a lot of artists have to stop making art or leave Tumblr... then yeah that would suck for the site. Like, don't get me wrong, as annoyed as I am towards how weirdly petty these posts are, I understand why they're made. And I'm all for encouraging more support to artists, but this ain't it y'all.

So how can we promote supporting artists without shaming? Well... here's some suggestions:

Let's stop this weird culture around shaming likes. This isn't getting anywhere and it's only gonna make people turn away from interacting with art at all. Can you imagine if YouTubers started getting angry at people who don't leave a like or subscribe? Like, genuinely making passive aggressive posts and videos about them? That would be wack, right? So let's not be like that.

Second, I think that emphasizing the GOOD that reblogs can do should be encouraged. Examples: "Reblogs get more eyes on art! If you really like an artist's content, reblog it and it might lead to that artist getting more followers! If you reblog, you're doing your part in helping an artist get exposure!" People want to feel like they're doing a good thing, so help them see the good that reblogging does, rather than lecturing on the evils of not doing so.

Third... do your part! Go look for artists who don't have a lot of interactions, and reblog their work! Spending your energy interacting with fellow artists, making connections, and supporting each other's work is going to do so much more in the long run than trying to fight a losing battle with General Internet Apathy. Besides, a reblog from asspissballs69 isn't going to have nearly as much of an impact as a reblog from someone who actually has a following. Tumblr doesn't have algorithms, but follower counts do still matter even if we can't see them.

Fourth, if we wish to actually change the hearts and minds of "Serial Likers", we need to actually understand why people like in the first place. One point I can think of is that people who come in from other social media may be afraid to spam their followers with things they like. I think that's absolutely an aspect of Tumblr that doesn't really carry over as well to other websites, and putting more emphasis on that should be done. Personally, this was my biggest obstacle to embracing reblogging fanart. So I think having more empathy and understanding of the issue, and addressing concerns these people may have would go a long way in helping us make the case for reblogging.

I guess im just bothered that when youre born an called a woman youre then constantly told to shut upforever,but when the opposite is true youre constantly encouraged to speak up.Youre ridiculed for not doing it, but to me thats different than being hurt or even killed FOR doing it. I know some people epxerience that without being born & assigned women, but for those of us who are this is literally a universal experience. You are fucking made to be a fucking sex robot and a servant and an agreeable nodding nothing whose opinions dont matter and nothing else. You are TRAINED in social cues and spend your whole life noticing every little thing and forcibly keeping all your opinions inside. Everyone should be lifting our voices up!!! Trans people should be screaming up at the sky not at others to keep their voices down!!

This literally makes me want to scream. Women are not treated better than men. Why would trans men be treated better than trans women? Where are you seeing that, where??? That’s not the fucking way to move our community forward or to connect as individulas. And Guess what?? Trans women don’t even want it!!!

TME is a term that trans women made for VERY SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES. It can be applied to SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES which require a very nuanced and exact language. I may be fucked up for saying this but There are times when trans mascs and butches face a speciifc, different type of transphobia to trans women, too. And they deserve a space to talk about it, too, while still DEFENDING trans fems from terfs. This seems fucking obvious to me. when its white ppl it all pales against transphobic racism anyway.

And that’s the long and short of it, bc trans women arent the ones I see taking about TME. They arent the ones actively claiming they have worse epxeriences with gender and dysphoria. Thats all like cute Nonbinary transmascs typically who are white telling me my experience was a lot easier than others in my community. And to me thats a part of this fucked up socialization--always talk youself down, and hold others like you accountable for reaching beyond their capacity. Discovering you're attracted to the opposite sex in such an extremely homophobic environment isn't easy for anyone. Thank the fucking gods lgb people in my country understand this so there's less to no intracommunity issues the way other countries (specifically Western countries) do.

This is why I get so angry when people speak about bisexuals in a condescending way without giving 2 minutes to think about how this would be affecting a person who lives in that kind of environment. Something that really annoyed me in season 2 episode of Euphoria is when Jules get jealous of Rue and Elliott because she thinks Rue has a crush on him. I look back a episode 7 (I think it was) and think to myself "Jules, Rue just having a crush on someone is 1000x better than having sex with them like you did with Anna" like literally in the s1 finale while Jules does rue's makeup she talks about her weekend and straight up talks about Anna and says her kissing and biting her felt amazing you can tell Rue is uncomfortable and Jules just continues to talk about her and it's like she doesn't give a shit about Rue (i guess since Rue is really chill and she saw how happy it made Jules and didn't want to say anything) If this had been reversed Jules would probably get all jealous and shit with Rue but it'd be more obvious. I don't feel sympathy for Jules when she cries in bathroom (bitch that's how you made Rue feel and she didn't do anything yet). I'm really hoping they do bring Anna back, especially since Jules think she and Rue would get along well together, if they brought Anna back and Rue wasn't okay around her and Jules realizes that and what she did was shitty I think that would redeem her a little (or if Rue just straight up called her out on it)

Okay there isn’t really a question in here 😭, but I’m guessing you wanted my take ? It’s long! So buckle up. (And like yours my answer is opinion based and heavily based on how I interpreted their actions )

The general consensus seems to be what you just said, “Jules can’t be upset because she suspects rue likes someone else because she liked multiple people last season and even had sex with one.” Jules is not her manic pixie dream girl and ppl hate it bc she was written as one in the first half and refused to do the job.

I disagree, and when I say this I don’t mean Jules is “right” or “wrong”, I just find the whole topic to lack any actual depth. It’s just more “you should’ve been the perfect girl for her despite what you were going through” discourse. (Again, this doesn’t mean I wasn’t also irritated or thought she had the right to do anything, when Jules was doing all this, I was livid pretty sure I have a post abt it i specifically mean ppl acknowledge it and in the same breath treat her reaction as a intentionally malice normal action for her). In short what you said makes perfect sense at surface level, if my friend randomly told me abt this relationship, I'd 100% agree with this take irl. But this is a story and we actually get to know everything and because of that, although I agree with the initial thought I don’t actually find it to be a valid reason to deny her something like jealousy over this situation.

So season one we ALL know Rue is head over heels for Jules, she’s our main character we see everything she does and feels most of the time. We empathize with her more because ultimately this show is made to shed light on rue and the stuff she struggles with, we don’t want to see her as someone capable of being flawed beyond being addicted to drugs. We all want her to make amends, we want her to have the girl she wants, we want her to enjoy her life, and even when she relapses we don’t want anyone shitting on her for it. We’re set up to be on her side no matter what. She’s an unreliable narrator, the way you and a lot of people feel abt Jules doing that in season two stems from us adopting Rues feelings and world view from season one. In season one we see her obsession with Jules, we see how much warmth and love and good intention is behind it , but in my opinion that’s why Jules seemed extra insensitive season one. We think she’s this manipulative person for “ignoring rues feelings” when it was actually shown to us again and again that Jules was always hesitant and not sure about this relationship WITH GOOD REASON but Rue is the one who doesn’t care. She just wanted her and we all thought

“well why can’t she have her they’re close enough.”

Immediately after they meet Jules started talking to Tyler for like a month or two and was at that time very clearly not going to date Rue, still Rue was in love with her. Rue liking Jules in silence while she lives her life shouldn’t count. And I only bring up Tyler to make the point that jules didn’t blatantly shrug her off for half a season, Rue just ignored the relationship Jules was building with someone else and so did we because we knew it was Nate and ultimately not going to happen. Jules had no obligation to Rue’s one sided feelings at that point. Even when Rue kissed her Jules is shocked (and still very much in to Tyler like she had been from the start)

After the festival is where it got confusing , they kiss each other and once again the audience assumes the role of rue and assumes this is now a thing. That’s what I thought as well and I still find it pretty confusing, if I was Rue I would assume the same thing. But like Ali pointed out, they never spoke about it, they were both not communicating feelings to each other after the festival. Rue legit tells her mom they’re a thing while Jules shys away from this with her dad because she had no clue I’d she wants that. Yes at that point they both knew they liked each other and it’s revealed Jules has been considering the possibility for a little bit in her episode but Jules still did not owe Rue a relationship. We all wanted a relationship but that doesn’t mean she’s wrong and horrible for not wanting one with Rue who had been a confusing weight on her chest since they met.

The second Jules meets this girl she gains a best friend and like Jules states she had never even been that close to a girl before. Their relationship was something very new for her, she didn’t take Rue as a love interest at first meanwhile we took everything she did as romantic or flirting because Rue is our lens’s and she liked her. But to Jules Rue was just this person she felt really comfortable and close with, she let her take her nudes for ffs. Then halfway through when rue finally kisses her she realizes oh...I have a crush on a girl. It’s always been a little more than platonic hasn’t it ? . She packs that up for whatever reason and still goes to see Tyler that night.

I like to think she does that because again it’s a very new realization and Tyler is already established, & easy to understand with no complex feelings. she chooses the relationship she built over what could be confused feelings for having the friendship she always dreamed of. (But she knows somewhere in there that yeah she does like rue like that). After the shit Nate pulled the last thing anyone including rue should have thought was “okay let’s hop in a relationship with rue who is in love with you” 💀. That relationship would not have helped or fixed her rue would be the only one benefiting from the romance. And it wouldn’t last long bc Jules was not okay.

Anyways, who gives a fuck about Anna ? 😭 let’s be serious. Jules Actually gets emotionally manipulated (which everyone claims she did to rue) + even more cruel shit and shuts off and leaves town. She meets a girl who feels like a happier and stable Rue(this is opinion based. Her telling rue later anna reminded her of rue is why I think we’re supposed to view her as a version of rue) , goes to a club drugged out and has jumping visions between , Stress free Rue and Nate hooking up with her. She’s clearly not okay about Tyler and is trying to free herself by moving on with someone else, that person just can’t be the real rue because the real rue isn’t okay , she can’t tell the real rue anything and she has to keep the real rue alive and well. She can’t do that as a girlfriend because again Tyler is a fresh wound and she doesn’t want to be that to anyone right now and also rue is a lot to handle just as a friend. but if she makes herself unavailable although she does like rue maybe a better time will Come. So yeah she hooks up with Anna, and yeah she tells Rue, and she also admits for the first time that she loves rue as well. She spends the whole season finale subtly begging for rue to be the rue she saw in Anna. This is a story we’re supposed to read in to shit so I believe Jules behavior in the last episode is her trying to make rue into the version of her she saw in Anna. Jules legit comes home with this new love and gives Rue a makeover to make her a little more like the girl she met over the weekend. The version she can ask to run away with her to the city and party because that Rue isn’t anxiety ridden or severely depressed or struggling to stay clean because whether she does or doesn’t is dependent on Jules being mentally sound enough to I dunno not ask her to do exactly this.

The whole Jules and Anna thing to me at first read as exactly what you’re saying. Then I thought on it some more after the special episodes and realized well it’s not really that is it. It’s not simply “I love you and Anna” it’s more so “I love Anna because I love you and she is what I wished you could be but you’re the real thing. I want you, Rue Bennett, to kiss me”

Does that mean all is forgiven and that wasn’t confusing as fuck emotionally? No it just means all in all Jules telling Rue (who she never expressed interest in being in a relationship with Vice versa) about it doesn’t get to be hung out to dry because Rue wanted to date her while she was clearly interested in other people. Nobody gets to hold It against her that she sought out relationships and one night stands with other people while Rue liked her and she knew bc she was SINGLE and simply did not pick Rue it doesn’t matter that she liked her back she still did not pick her romantically. To be fair Rue is supposed to be unreliable and we see that because Jules was actually very clear abt how she felt in some of her scenes. Specifically when Lexi tells her rue is happy because of her Jules asks her to not repeat that. She doesn’t want that on her plate. When she picks rue up and states she’s not trying to be friends with someone who’s trying to kill themselves. She’s repeatedly setting that boundary even though we know she wants to cross it because she loves her and Everytime she gets too close (the pool, the station, the kiss after the festival) she’s never in her right mind and the next day she steps back for her sanity. And if a simple let’s not cross that line isn’t enough, her reasons for pulling a will they won’t they are. She loves rue, but rue comes with a lot of convoluted emotions she will constantly be sorting through. And they’re not the simple teenage things either.

I know I’m saying it a lot but RUE IS UNRELIABLE, she is the one to say Jules is jealous , but Jules in her own words says the reason she feels weird about Elliot is because of how rue acted when they were introduced( I know she said rue has a crush on him but we hear her say in an episode preview that it’s actually because she thinks Eliot is not telling her something...I rather go with what actually came out of Jules mouth in her own scene with someone rather than what rue remembers bc evidently, Rue remembers things how she wants to). But if we use the crush line, Jules saw him the night they reconnected and rue was clearly using, she doesn’t know if he was someone rue got intimate with and now doesn’t want to tell her. Rue would act the same way if she had met Anna (she actually does feel this way bc of what she said in the car) and BOTH ARE VALID, they can’t be wrong for being jealous of ppl their partner had something with when they weren’t together and that person is still around 😭. You’re gonna feel a way no matter what even if one told you up front about it while you smiled and the other tried to hide it behind their back.

Jules doesn’t need to be redeemed, last time I spoke about her and the things she did season one I said if she acknowledged it and apologized that’s redemption enough, she does apologize for the train station to rue and she sheds a lot of light on her season one actions all in one episode. She’s not a villain , and she did her part to make amends. Rue is never gonna apologize for placing her sobriety on her, placing them in a unspoken relationship Jules isn’t ready to get in to. But that’s because rue is still actively going through the wringer and Every time she’s done and back to her right state of mind, she does apologize and attempt to make amends. She hasn’t been okay since we met her because staying clean is not the only thing weighing her down mentally. This season is her outward spiral and how she will redeem herself Jules’s spiral is over and she’s righted her wrongs.

i'm really glad you asked me about this bc it gives me the chance to say something that's been on my mind a lot lately:

it literally doesn't matter what chris says.

it literally doesn't matter. they do these interviews and the actors and producers give what are essentially their headcanons in answer to questions that have not been answered in the text but until those answers become text? they aren't real.

the only things that are real are 1) the actual, textual scenes and 2) your interpretation of them. you know that whole thing about how ten people can see the same thing and describe it ten different ways? that is so true and it applies here. your perspective on the scene is not less valid than someone else's. not even chris's.

chris said, off the cuff, in response to a question he presumably did not prepare remarks to answer, that he thinks elliot is figuring it out right now. does that mean that the actual canon character of elliot literally never thought he might be in love with olivia before now? does it mean that he's never been allowed to be in love with her before and he's figuring out what that means now? does that mean that he's figuring out how to be in love with her?

it's open to interpretation bestie!

what chris and mariska and the writers and producers think the characters are feeling, what they think their motivations are, inform what canon becomes. but again, until those thoughts become text, they are only one interpretation.

i throw a couple of phrases around here all loosey-goosey and i wanna talk about two of them you may have heard me use before. the first is "word of god". word of god refers to statements made by people with power in connection to the show. some fans treat those statements as "word of god", that is, as immutable truth that cannot be questioned and must be taken into account when viewing/analyzing a piece of media. some fans need word of god, want that affirmation that their perspective is the Correct(tm) one. and i understand it! we want to believe the creators are on our side, that our vision of what we think the show is and what it's trying to do is what's gonna happen.

i am not one of those people. i am interested in what they have to say but if i disagree with them i do not think that i have lost something, or that i am wrong bc the creators don't agree. i think we all have our headcanons and mine are as valid as anyone else's.

the second thing you'll hear me say a lot is "the author is dead". this is an actual theory of literary criticism that argues we should separate the work from the context of the author's identity and intentions. whatever an author intends, their work can have multiple meanings, perhaps even some meanings they didn't intend at all.

when i engage with a piece of media, i am engaging with what has been done on screen, and what i interpret from it. it doesn't matter if the producers and writers don't think elliot was in love with olivia, or think he didn't know he was; i've seen fault. whether it was intentional or not elliot's behavior in that episode can be interpreted as him being all too keenly aware of that love, and being afraid of it. that's how i interpret it. no one else, not even chris, saying otherwise will deter me from believing it.

so does elliot love olivia? how long has he known he does? does he deserve her?

well, lev would care - he’d be so excited and asking for kuroo to get him your autograph but yaku would just be like ‘you don’t actually believe him, do you? 🙄’

so yeah, yaku would convince lev and yamamoto that you were just a figment of kuroo’s imagination

even thoUGH YAKU KNEW YOU WERE A REAL PERSON BC HE HAD MET YOU BEFORE AND  HE KNEW THAT YOU WERE DATING KUROO AIREBVKZGA he just loved annoying kuroo <3

and he did the job well bc kuroo was definitely annoyed

he’d be waving his phone around, desperately trying to show lev and yamamoto the selfies he took with you but they’d just be like 😑

then he finally convinced you to come visit him at practise to put an end to his humiliation

so you appeared one day and kuroo was so hyped

but not as hyped as yamamoto

he has hot-ppl senses which tingled when you entered the room so he was the first to greet you while kuroo was sitting setting up the nets

he was literally all over you

and kuroo was not here for it

and lev is just so awed, ‘(y/n) is real???’

for a moment he thought he was dreaming too until kenma purposefully hit him with a ball

‘put me down, tetsurō.’ you groaned, folding your arms over your chest

he obeyed, gently setting you down on your feet before pecking your lips, ‘ok, well, i should probably get back to practise now - train hard so hopefully one day i can be as good as you.’ he joked, teasingly emphasising the ‘you’.

you playfully punched his arm before turning on your heels to head out, ‘you wish!’

although he’ll always joke about how amazing you are in comparison to him but he genuinely admires you 🤩

Kōtarō Bokuto

he hypes you up to his team constantly

they’ve literally never even met you and they are being asked all these questions from bokuto lol

‘hey onaga, did you see (y/n) at their nationals game the other day?’

onage flinched upon being jump-scared by his captain, then choked out a little white lie, ‘uh yeahhh.’

bokuto’s face lit up, ‘great! they were so amazing during the third set, weren’t they? what was your favourite part?’

onaga froze, ‘uhh- oh, i think i hear anahori calling me to help him practise his sets! gotta go.’ then he proceeded to bolt off

bokuto shrugged it  off at first as he shouldn’t complain bc a teammate dropped a conversation to continue training with anahori - i mean, onaga came to volleyball club to practise so he wasn’t obligated to make conversation with bokuto

but while he was saying his goodbyes to everyone as they left the gym to go home, it hit him-

‘bye, komi! buh-bye, washio! and goooodbyeeee, konoha.’ bokuto let out a relived sigh as he had now finished saying his partings which meant he could lock the gym then go home, ‘wait-- ANAHORI DIDN’T EVEN COME TO PRACTISE TODAY! ONAGA!’

bokuto was deeply disheartened that his own teammate would lie to him - to get out of a conversation about you, no less

he just wanted them all to love you as much as he does

like..he’s your biggest fan!!!

he’d show up to all of your games wearing your jersey and some of the eagle-eyed press would try talk to him

they’d interview him about his own affair or about the MSBY Black Jackals but he genuinely has no interest in talking about that bc today is your day and he is here to support you

sakusa decked atsumu after he joked about having covid-

the interview shoved and waved a microphone in bokuto’s face while he just stared at them blankly like ◉_◉

after a while bokuto stuffed a handful of popcorn in his mouth and chuckled, ‘don’t know! but the game is about to begin, shhh!-’ he hushed the interviewer, instinctively swatting the microphone away as he stood up in the stands to cheer for you, ‘WOOOO! GO, (Y/N)!’  

then he turned to the interviewer who stood frozen with a dumbfounded look on his face, ‘THAT’S MY LOVERRRR!’ he screamed into the microphone so loudly that all the press naturally backed off

and please do the same for him when the press approach you at his games 🙏

Shinsuke Kita

ofc he dates a volleyball player player-

he is such an ushijima

he is ushijima if he wasn’t left-handed

he doesn’t really brag about you too often at practise but he feels so proud when you win a game then he comes to practise the next day and his teammates tell him to pass on a congratulations

also he always comes to your games

no matter how minor or how large

you’d think you could both bond a lot over volleyball and you did that in the beginning

but over time - especially when you started playing volleyball professionally - you found other things to bond over and saved volleyball for work

he probably runs a (y/n) stan page AEIVBARTBV

AND YOU’D NEVER GUESS

like he is literally a rice farmer- you are under the impression that he doesn’t even know what facebook is

and he’s good at selling the act too

‘did you see the picture of us i posted on my instagram?--’ you asked, taking another spoonful of your cereal

then as soon as you exit the room, he’ll log onto his (y/n) twitter stan account

anyway he ALWAYS tries to ensure that the first thing you eat after a big game is something that he cooks

and if you go out with your team to eat after a game to celebrate a victory, he’ll try at act sweet but he’s lowkey shady tbh

‘congratulations on your victory, (y/n). and to many more’ he lifted his glass and so did you

but just as you were about to take a sip, kita interjected, ‘but that is going to be difficult if you keep filling your body with junk rather than healthy, organi--’

again, when you and oikawa first started dating, volleyball was one of the only things y’all talked about

but now that you were both doing it professionally, it was basically banned in your home

well, the the game itself wasn’t banned but i mean, why would you do something all day then come back to talk about it more?

you both might adore volleyball but everything has it’s limits lol

anyway, oikawa is another one that is extra af when they come to your games

he probably makes a sign and paints his face in your team colours

and when you come out onto the court, he’ll blow you a kiss and if you don’t blow one back he’ll be so offended lmao

bc he always makes a big deal out blowing you a kiss or winking at you as soon as he steps out onto the court

it’s basically a thing he does for good luck at this point

also, if there are ever ppl trying to take pictures of y’all in public- oikawa is the first to make a big show for them

like he’s all up on you 

he’ll dip you then push his lips against you for a passionate kiss, in front of the ppl and they always go fkn crazy

he thinks he is like..Beyoncé famous...which he is not

please humble him 

but nicely 

but y’all only get attention around summertime when you are frequently playing big games 

like if oikawa leaves the house a week you competed in a big game- he’ll literally get swamped with ppl asking about you 

but contrarily, if you both leave the house in winter literally no one would even spare you a glance

on a RARE occasion, someone might sneakily snap a photo but that’s it

so you get the best of both worlds :))

also, if you’re an ace and he’s ever feeling down, if you ask him to set for you for a bit and you compliment one/all of his sets, he’ll literally feel so much better 

Kiyoomi Sakusa 

sometimes you both come back from a rough day at work, slump on the couch and watch TV together

after showering, changing, dinner etc

he’s not nna come anywhere near you if he thinks there is a chance he might be stinky from practise 

he turned on the TV and it just so happened to be on an Live volleyball game in some language that neither of you understood

he’d snake his arms around your shoulders and pull you close to his chest, satisfied by your synced breathing 

he’d press a single kiss against your jaw before shifting his attention onto the channel

you’d lay there in his arms, both of you seeming content in each other’s presence while watching the game

in reality though, neither of you were actually absorbing anything that was happening on the court - you were just staring blankly at the TV

the TV simply served as background noise to your cuddling

tbh he was way more interested in hearing the sound of your heart beat peacefully against his chest 

after a while, if he gets bored, he might finally break the silence by inquiring about your day

but if he doesn’t, you’d probably end up falling asleep in his arms, forcing him to sleep on the couch bc he’s doesn’t want to risk moving and waking you up 🥺

anyway, he’s another one that likes to save volleyball for work then leave it by the door as soon as you step inside the house 

but he’s not as uptight about it as oikawa or kita

like he’ll happily put on a volleyball match for you guys to watch if he thinks the player’s techniques are impressive

also, if the weather is nice, if you ask him to come out and practise with you for a bit and he’ll say yes 🤠

but actually 🤔 now that is think about it, if you guys had a pool in your back garden sakusa would definitely make the most of it

you’ll humbly ask him spike for you on a nice sunny day and he’ll be like

‘volleyball? really? we bought this expensive ass house with a pool which we can only use 4 out the 365.25 days of the year and you want to play volleyball? don’t you do that like..every work day.’

Touch starved/ hurt reader - hcs or scenarios the turtles? Reader super cool regarding friendship, like funny and open etc etc, but if someone tries to do anything that implies a bit more regarding romantic stuff they are kinda like oop- no. Reader is kinda jumpy and just freezes when someone’s they like does any kind of affection ( blushes a lot, try to run away and avoid those situations) people have taken them for granted which has make them a bit cold and defensive in that area- they want to be more affectionate ( which they know deep down it’s what they crave) but it’s kinda they are a scared / angry cat? Please, hope this makes sense, thank you

( also regarding looks and gender I think you can go with they/them so everyone can see a look but if themselfs in the scenario, and if you are going to any kind of skin ship, make the reader extremely defensive over their arms and tummy pls, I do love hugs but if anyone touches my hips I’ll try to get away so fast omg sbbtjfjdkdksn and I will just close off momentarily, I absolutely hate it, I’m more on the heavy side ( talk and chubby ) and if anyone’s touches the “giggly” parts I get extremely upset ( because of how ppl havemade fun of it over the years) and I think the boys would be very “??? What?” To that reaction cuz they didn’t think it was some thing bad to have? Okay first of all I love you and I would die for you. You are a perfect human being and there is literally no one else like you. Your body does a damn good job of keeping all of your organs in place and that's what matters. If anyone tells you different you rock their absolute shit.

So obviously there's some widespread confusion once Casey gets tossed into the mix

All Mikey had done was reach behind him and snag you by the waist to pull you over

The words "and this is my best friend, y/n" never got the chance to leave his mouth

He was definitely not expecting you to squeak out in protest and scramble away from him as fast as humanly possible

Your face was burning red and you were clutching your sides, desperately trying not to bare your teeth in defence

Mikey couldn't help but feel heartbroken

You sent Casey an unenthusiastic wave before turning on your heel and basically running out

You threw around compliments like you were playing hot potato and for whatever reason you'd always find someway to playfully flirt with him

But the second one of his brothers suggested something other than the innocent friendship the two of you had you would shut down completely

And coincidentally those types of comments were made at the most inconvenient times

Nothing screamed awkward more than you going stone cold and standoffish over a piece of pie

Bubbly and excited one moment, tossing around those positive affirmations to your favorite people

And staring murderously at an inanimate object the next

You were like an unsolvable rubix cube to him

But he was determined to figure you out

You didn't appear to be busy, just sitting on the haphazard bunk in your makeshift area with a book in your lap

The others had gone out on patrol and you weren't sure where Splinter was at that particular moment which left you and Donnie holding down the lair until they got back

Look, Raph knows a thing or two about being self conscious

out of all of his brothers he's the one who worries about his appearance the most

but you- holy shit he thinks you're the most amazing, perfect human in the world

so when he finds out that you hate being touched and that thinking about relationships makes your skin crawl he doesn't know whether to genuinely cry for you or punch someone in the mouth

both is okay

You'd always been very bold with your words and sometimes you'd even joke that you couldn't even tell when you were flirting with him

it just slipped out

and hearing that even though you could pull that off as easy as breathing and compliment all of them endlessly but you struggled to be comfortable in your own body?

that was a lot to unpack in one sitting

but the longer he sat with you and listened to you talk him through it the more he understood

sure, it was horrible

and he wouldn't likely stop thinking about hurting the people who'd done this to you (there'd be too many to count)

but you had a way of making him understand things

it was his favorite thing about you

"Uh- you know y/n, I uh- personally I think you look great. Like- all the time."

he'd done enough listening and reading to know how society treated people who it thought was different

and he hated that you'd had to experience that for most of your life

when it came down to it and he saw that you had become particularly hard on yourself he took it upon himself to check in with you

that's how you'd started meditating with him

and you'd found it quite relaxing if you were completely honest

Leo told you that meditation was the best way to connect with your body and understand it

you hoped that in time you would understand what he meant by that

but the positive affirmations were doing something, so you'd take it

he'd always encourage you when you couldn't yourself

and always jump to your defense when the others got a little to out of bounds with their words

you still would noticeably flinch when touched without warning

they were all working with that

and he still found himself saddened that you'd recoil back into your protective walls if anyone mentioned anything inherently romantic

but you were coming around

and he was endlessly proud of you for that

No one ever talks about how no matter how many people tell you that you’re a good writer, it’s hard to believe them when other ppl get hundreds of likes and reblogs and you arent. It still sucks …. And it’s discouraging af.😓

God, yes, I feel you, Anon. It can be really hard to feel worthy as a writer when you don't feel like you're getting the recognition you want, whether you're writing for a rarepair or OC-centric work or your work just isn't getting the visibility you had hoped (like in the case for super popular pairings or fandoms where fics can so quickly be drowned out by a constant stream of new works being posted). It kind of feels like a "damned if you do, and damned if you don't" situation, and that sucks. And comparison is such a dangerous trap that we all fall into, too. There's this quote that says "comparison is the thief of joy" and god, if that ain't the truth. I've caught myself comparing my writing (and many other non-fanfic-related things) to others on multiple occasions and it never feels good. At the end of the day, though, I think what we always have to remind ourselves of is why we write. We're telling the stories that we want to tell and that make us happy. If nothing else, we should write for ourselves first and foremost. I think when we try to shift our focus to making ourselves happy and not worrying about what other people think, then writing in fandom spaces like this can be a much healthier and more enjoyable experience. I know that still doesn't really take the sting away from not getting the recognition you want with your writing, but it's also good to remember that there may be a lot of people who don't speak up about how much they love your work, whether they're shy to comment or they don't have accounts on whatever site you post on and are just checking in and along for the ride or something. Someone out there may adore your work but never say anything for one reason or another, and your work may even be helping someone immensely to get through hard times, either as a way to cope or a happy distraction. There are plenty of reasons why people may not reach out, but it can help to remind yourself that there's bound to be at least one person out there who reads your work and loves it immensely and finds great joy and comfort in the things that you share, even if they don't speak up about it themselves.
