#FixTF2 Masterpost: Important Information Regarding the Movement
As promised, here is a comprehensive post about the #FixTF2 movement, the issues it tries to bring up and where to find more information and follow developments.
It is now day 7 of the protest with no response form Valve. Either this is them trying to wait for this to blow over or waiting for the signatures of the petition to be printed out and brought to their office, or they are still preparing a proper response to the movement. Regardless, this protest is still ongoing.
❓What's going on with TF2?❓
I'm sure everyone and their grandma knows by now, but TF2's most popular game mode, Casual, has been plagued by bots for several years by now. This is in fact not the first attempted protest and you may have heard of the one conducted two years ago named #SaveTF2. The movement wrested a response from Valve, which since the first protest has earned infamy and a status as a blatant lie among the game's players.
Tumblr media
However, this task has seemingly been abandoned entirely. The last time in recent memory with no bots was when the game upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, which seemed to break the bots for a while. This was something the bothosters remedied a few days later, and no steps to remove them from the game has been made ever since.
It is worth mentioning that TF2 has had updates to battle the bot issue many times after #SaveTF2. They did indeed move to make TF2 a bot-free game for a while.
❓Why is this even bad?❓
Now, this might seem like a non-problem; TF2 is a video game and no more than that. People could simply move on and play similar games, like Overwatch, Paladins, Splatoon, etc. This would certainly be an easy solution but this has roots much deeper than simply playing a game.
For one, this game has been around for about 17 years by now. Ancient by FPS standards, but that the game is still played and talked about to this day stands as a testament to the love and passion the playerbase and general fandom has for it. The playerbase is loyal, the potential for content is seemingly endless and many are willing to pay money for the game. And therein lies some issues.
TF2 has millions of dollars invested in it by the playerbase. Loot boxes, MvM tickets and any sale made in the community market all gives Valve a steady and reliable revenue stream. This is significant, because you will have to make the assumption that this money will come back to sustain the game from imploding in on itself and remain functional. In the case with MvM, the PvE mode (that has not been updated in QUITE a while), the chances of receiving valuable loot from the missions is actually so small that there is no way to feasibly make any of your money back.
Additionally, any content updates added to the game every event (Summer Update, Scream Fortress and Smissmass) is community made. This means Valve picks and chooses cosmetics, emotes, unusual effects, warpaints and maps made by fans in the workshop.
Tumblr media
While the creators of these items are compensated for their work, Valve naturally profits from these content updates.
In shorter terms: Valve profits off a game that has been in a near-unplayable state for more than 5 years by doing next to nothing.
And that isn't even the end of it. This is just the general negligence of Valve. It gets a lot uglier when delving into the punishable crimes conducted by the bothosters.
This video by TheWhat Show talks about this in depth, focusing on a particularly important case that involves MegaScatterBomb, who was harassed, doxxed, impersonated and swatted for trying to develop a working anti-cheat for casual.
youtube
This video is also in a document form for those who would rather read.
A more recent development with the bots has been their blatant advertising and promotion of CSAM, which you may better know as CP.
After #FixTF2 started, bots have been found spamming links in text chat that they claim is CSAM, while micspamming disturbing audio into the voice chat that is either edited to sound like or is legitimately CSAM. Valve has yet to respond to these reports, but good amount of players on Twitter/X have already started notifying FBI about this situation.
Another thing worth noting is that the bothosters have actively attempted to take down the petition website by DDoSing it and by filing a fake DMCA claim, both which are punishable crimes.
So to summarize:
It is wholly unsafe to play the game due to the bothosters and their willingness to commit crimes in the name of ruining the game experience.
Valve is profiting from keeping this broken product running, yet refuses to put any meaningful effort into fixing the bot problem.
The community actively contributes to the game by designing cosmetics and maps, and while they are compensated for their work, Valve are the ones who profit the most from their contributions.
Real people have been and are being harmed by the bot problem, and as far as we are aware, no one has been held accountable.
This is wholly unacceptable, both from a professional and unprofessional standpoint. If Valve fancies themselves a corporation worth using money on, their choice to simply ignore the problem speaks volumes of their priorities.
As Valve is releasing their new game Deadlock, there are serious concerns about the security of this game. TF2 is far from the only game that has bot/cheater problems. CS2 has had a similar problem for a long while as well and there is a clip of a Chinese bot farm that has been going around and which has even breached into the #FixTF2 movement.
❓What should we do?❓
Sign the petition while it is still up. At the time of this post, the petition has reached 270k+ signatures. The website has more general information as well.
Add to the #FixTF2 tag on mainly Twitter/X. Tag your posts with it, retweet and like posts in the tag and put the focus on the bots and ONLY the bots. One of the issues of the last movement, #SaveTF2, was that it wasn't focused enough on any particular problem and Valve could get away with making no promises. So, post clips, fanart and rants to your heart's content, so long it is specifically about the bots.
Watch youtube videos with #FixTF2 as the subject. Here are some good places to start:
youtube
youtube
4. Boycott any transactions in TF2. While Weezy was against this method in his video above, he has since changed his opinion. It has been established that Valve is very unlikely to shut down TF2, since the TF2 community market has millions of dollars invested in it and shutting down TF2 would render all items useless, thereby fully taking away any and all investments any players have put into the game. This would not just be devastating to the general economy of Valve's marketplaces, but a huge blow to their reputation if they want to remain reliable in the eyes of consumers.
5. Don't interact directly with bothosters. This includes harassment and any attempts at doxxing/swatting. These individuals are bigoted and some are even criminals. They have no remorse for their actions and talking to them would be a fruitless endeavor. Refrain from mentioning their names/aliases, as they are fond of attention and are getting just about enough of it since #FixTF2 started.
6. Don't give up.
❓Where can I keep up with any news?❓
Here are accounts to start with if you want to follow any important proceedings regarding #FixTF2:
Weezy (One of the biggest voices for #FixTF2 and spearhead of the protest):
Weezy's Youtube Channel
Weezy's Twitter
TheWhat Show (Similar to Weezy, outspoken supporter and spearhead):
TheWhat's Youtube Channel
TheWhat's Twitter
Shork (Outspoken supporter and generally active in the fandom)
Shork's Twitter
MegaScatterBomb (Creator of the TF2 cheater database and attempting to make a working anti-cheat for casual)
Mega's Youtube

Hey there lovelies. I hope your Monday wasn't too crazy! I'm gonna keep it short tonight because I am nodding off.
I know sometimes we do things when we're not feeling very well that we regret. I know sometimes we get so far progress wise, but then we revert a little bit because the day was just too much. Sometimes we even say or do things that hurt others, even if we don't mean to, but it happens.
Just remember lovelies that that doesn't make you a bad person.
We all make mistakes. We are all human, and none of us are infallible.
You are going through so much. You are dealing with the stressors of the day, of the week, of the year, of the country, of the global climate, hell you're dealing with the stressors of keeping you and your loved ones fed, and clothed and sheltered, or maybe you're dealing with a physical ailment.
Whatever it is, you're dealing with A LOT. We all have bad days.
Making mistakes is how we grow. Give yourself some grace lovelies, you deserve grace too.
Anyway, that's enough out of me, goodnight crew, I hope your dreams are sweet, and your rest is full.

CROWN PRINCESS LENDS TIARAS, GOWNS TO SPECIAL EXHIBIT
If you've ever wanted to get a closer look at what's inside Crown Princess Anya's closet, then boy, we've got great news for you!
Her Royal Highness has loaned pieces from her most unforgettable looks to the Brindleton Museum of Fashion and the Arts including three tiaras, some select pieces of jewellery, and over ten dresses and gowns!
The exhibition, entitled "The Crown Princess at 30," will open to the public next week, but HRH dropped by for a special sneak peek earlier today.
Tumblr media
The Crown Princess looked beautiful in a sleeveless pleated dress in a bright pink hue, which she paired with nude court shoes and a matching clutch.
During the private tour, HRH was heard saying it felt "weird" seeing all her dresses propped up on mannequins, some even placed behind glass. A staff member shares:
"She was actually laughing about how it all felt so weird for her to see them on display. She even joked about making sure that a secret stain remained hidden in one of the dresses that she wore to a banquet. Apparently, a wayward sauce-covered meatball fell from her fork and on to the dress. She got down and showed us the stain, but it's okay because it was completely hidden from view."
Tumblr media
The exhibit isn't just to show off Crown Princess Anya's fabulous wardrobe - it's also for a great cause. All the proceeds of the ticket sales will benefit three of HRH's charities, including Clothed, a non-profit that focuses on providing clothing to children and teens in need.
The exhibit is also highly guarded thanks to some of HRH's jewels on display including three of her personal tiaras. Included in the exhibition is her latest headpiece that she debuted during her most recent birthday portrait, said to be a present from her dad, Prince Jacques. While the tiara appeared as an all-diamond piece in the portrait, it's displayed with a large sapphire centre stone, proving earlier speculations about its versatility to be correct. The Crown Princess revealed that the set came with three interchangeable centre stones: a diamond, a sapphire, and a ruby - all of which can be worn as individual brooches.
Tumblr media
Another tiara on display is The Stafford Tiara, which was an 18th birthday present from the Stafford Royal Family. Princess Mary of Stafford is Crown Princess Anya's godmother, and is a good friend of Queen Emilia. The magnificent tiara features graduating swirls of diamonds, set in white gold. The Crown Princess herself singled out the tiara as her "favourite" during the visit:
"She happily shared us stories about the tiaras she lent for the display, but she specifically said that she loved the Stafford Tiara and that it was her favourite. It's one of her first tiaras and she said that it fit her head just right, and it didn't give her headaches because it wasn't too heavy. Apparently, certain tiaras fit certain heads better, and the Stafford sits just right."
Tumblr media
Seeing as we don't exactly have multiple tiaras at our disposal and we're also not invited to events that call for one, we're going to have to take HRH's word for it.
The exhibit will last for only a month, so better grab a ticket and check it out - especially if you're a royal fashion enthusiast!

I honestly wish I had less to say about this broad, but here we are.
It would seem that very few people are as of yet willing to pay for the rambling mess that is Gen’s Bookclub this time around, because suddenly they are offering 10 lucky winners a meet-and-greet. This wasn’t mentioned in her first post about the event on 9/6 but in her plea post yesterday it was a dangled carrot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you head to the link in bio, you will confirm that, yes the tickets are $30 for a moderated conversation in which you may be removed at any time and the meet and greets are a last-ditch effort add-on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gen’s video tries to tug on your heartstrings by reminding you that a portion of the ticket proceeds go to the non-profit organization, Reading is Fundamental. Nowhere on the website or IG posts have I been able to find an actual percentage listed. Reading may be fundamental, but apparently transparency is not. So that’s neat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a final Hail Mary, Gen rattles off some statistics that, because they were coming out of her mouth, warranted some fact-checking. She says that 43% of Americans are functionally illiterate, but I don’t find that same stat anywhere either. It kinda seems like she flubbed this one:
Tumblr media
But I also found that the definition of “functionally illiterate” is reading below a 5th grade reading level and when you raise the bar to 6th grade, 54% of Americans fall short. That number IS staggering, but it’s still incredibly irritating that Gen is this incompetent and careless when she’s asking people to spend money on her. I got this from a bare minimum google search.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, what’s my issue here? It’s this: if you care about literacy rates in the US then donate directly to a charity or volunteer at your local library but do not spend money to watch this twit embarrass herself or help Charlie Capen, who is at the helm of Momentus, build his resume. (Jared should also be embarrassed for contributing to this, to be honest.) She is not selfless either. She could throw money at any charity of her choosing, but instead they are charging fans to watch an interview and a PORTION of the proceeds go to charity. Genevieve is someone who centers herself in every issue she “cares” about and continues to get lifted up as a hero. Fuck. That.
You don’t need a middle man to put good into the world. And that’s all Genevieve will ever be.

I thought the Aviation Award was a joke so had to research it myself ...
Harry must have been pretty upset about being left out of the Sandhurst book to shell out money for this award.
Wikipedia describes the living legends of aviation as a "paid for" award and the website has a "myshopify.com" extension. Per the website, the "Living Legends of Aviation are remarkable people of extraordinary accomplishment in aviation including: entrepreneurs, innovators, industry leaders, astronauts, record breakers, pilots who have become celebrities and celebrities who have become pilots. The Legends meet yearly to recognize and honor individuals that have made significant contributions in aviation." I bolded the part that Just Harry the Celebrity formerly known as Prince must be eligible under. The website has no ticket or sponsorship pricing information or names of the hosting committee or board. Presumably winners will at least buy a table or two at a minimum.
Charity Navigator, a non-profit rating website, gives the group behind the award a 2 out of 4 stars. The information on the Kitty Hawk Air Academy website is from 2015/16. there is no information about the board of directors, management or any financial information. the contact information for the organization shows a Colorado address but the event is in Beverly Hills. I'm confused as to how a charity that can't even keep its website up to date has a fundraiser in another state in one of the swankiest zip codes?
Will be interesting to see if Kiddie Hawk is listed as a grantee in Archwell's 2023 or 2024 filings.

so, you want to get rich quick?
to get rich quick anon, here’s some hypothetical strategies (I DO NOT ENDORSE WHAT I SAY BELOW). I’ll assume for the sake of this that you aren’t an artist or skinmaker, most of your FR friends are in the same class of “wealth” in dragon capitalism, and you likely have a couple thousand gems in your vault. (Also assuming normal non conquest push non NOTN profiteering hours). You unfortunately need to be rich first to get richer and also have very thick skin when it comes to haggling and various unethical things.
mildly unethical but not illegal: 1) scout out the sales/auctions threads, and underbid for dragons (low digits are a good place to start. see 7 digit dragons. better than g1s for ROI, but buyer’s market is kinda scuffed, this is a patience game) or find liquidating threads and pick up as many high value easy to liquidate things for as low as possible. buy them in bulk and people will be more likely to knock the price down.
2) sell sell sell. anything in your hoard or pair that isn’t being used and is easy to sell, get rid of it. hibden items are a hassle but some of the low tier unlock items can fetch quite the price. do your research and don’t waste time trying to sell every little thing, but have as much different stuff listed on the AH as possible. don’t overlist items, do corner the market on single piece apparel items that are a little fancy (find them on the MP during discount price)
illegal, try at your own risk: with multis: 1) get an earth multi for dom discount, convert your gems to treasure @1:1000, then buy a ton of gene scrolls to sell on the AH. DO RESEARCH FIRST ON WHAT THE BEST MARGINS ARE FOR FLIPPING. this is probably the single easiest way to make money on fr period.
2) use your dailies to gather for specific hibden items, don’t sell all at once because you’ll inflate the market and the price goes down, but trickle in a couple listings at a time.
3) buy multiple spare inventory crates and sell them later.
scams and frauds (please don’t do any of these i would be very sad):
1) get involved in dominance, trickle funds from battles or other organizations into your own coffers, or run events and hold onto a portion of the proceeds. fudge spreadsheets. it helps to be integrated into in flight events.
2) run scam raffles with middle-high ticket items, nothing super expensive, but decently interesting. (nothing over a couple kg for your grand prize as anything higher than that attracts more interest than you’d like.). make it legit, and you can have smaller prizes that you actually hand out, but the big ticket prize is never distributed. (multis will help increase legitimacy, just use common sense.)
3) literally just RMT if you have spare dollars to throw into the void. it helps to have “connections.”
4) reconsider your decisions. this is a game, and what you have will never be enough if you compare it to others.
FR is not a job, it is not an obligation, and “getting rich quick” will always come at the expense of others. you’re just as likely to be banned or found obnoxious for this kind of stuff.
tldr: crime pays but at what cost lol

Hiiiii :)
I just saw you on my feed talking about the show „Under the bridge“ which I started and am totally obsessed with because I love lily Gladstone and ✨butch women✨ but on a more serious note I wanted to ask if you are maybe personally a fan of Lily ? Because just like I said I’m a fan of her and I have been following her for 3 years now and with the on going situation about the met gala, her playing a cop in this show.. and not really speaking up about Palestine the way I expected, makes me kinda sad and uncomfortable. I know celebrity worship is not positive in any way but I always liked her acting and also the way she seems to be when not on camera. I know I can’t say much about her because I don’t know her personally but I said to myself kind of ironically before the met began „I‘m gonna stop supporting everyone who will be there“ but I kinda meant it and seeing lily there made me sad knowing that she would be willing to pay 75k for this sh!t is not it for me. Idk maybe I‘m overreacting I‘m just not really happy about what‘s happening lately when I thought some celebs actually stand on the right side but it turns out most don‘t care one bit about others and us the working class ofc.
Could you maybe tell me your thoughts on this ?
To start off I don't really keep up with the met gala/celebrities in general and I haven't heard of any specific controversies with the met gala this year? All I really know about it is that it's a fundraiser for the costume section of the met museum and she was there this year. so even if she did pay for the ticket the money goes directly to that non-profit cause. Take this with a grain of salt though because I really don't put any effort into keeping up with events like these. maybe i should but i'm just not particularly interested :) anyway this is quite long so i will put the rest under a cut.
as for her playing a cop- i think it's a good thing- her character occupies such a nuanced space; she's queer, a first nations woman adopted into a white cop family. yes she's a cop as well, but she's also a victim to that institution in a lot of the same ways reena was, and i think it makes for a great plot where she's forced to reckon with the institution she's a part of even though she is a marginalized woman in many ways. (i dont want to cite any specific things from the show because i don't really want to spoil anyone since the newest episode came out only yesterday, but there are several parallels between her and reena.)
As for her activism, with celebrities in general i don't necessarily look to them for moral guidelines. that isn't to say that i support any celebrities in any way with heinous views, but i'm also not keeping tabs on everything a celebrity who's work i enjoy has said about x y z issue. while i, too would imagine that she is sympathetic towards palestinians, i think it's not really fair to expect lily to take on every single issue concerning indigenous people around the world, seeing as indigenous people in north america alone are still in a shitty position (in terms of mmiw, threats to their land, mental health crises, natural disasters, and these are issues off the top of my head.) i think i also hold this opinion because i am a pretty privileged white woman and i think it would be beyond hypocritical to point at lily and go "you're not being a good activist for palestinians even though you're indigenous yourself!!" and this goes beyond whether i think of myself as a good activist or not. i also think that since she's really just 'broken through,' she doesnt want/maybe has been told not to rock the boat in that way in order to protect her future career, though i honestly dont know. it's not an excuse for not speaking out, but it's just something that came across my mind. again, take this all with a grain of salt.

Griner, the June WNBA Cares Community Assist Award recipient, is the second consecutive Mercury player to win the honor. Mercury forward Brianna Turner received the award last season.
Since rejoining the Mercury in February 2023 after being wrongfully detained in Russia, Griner has focused on two service initiatives: Bring Our Families Home (BOFH), a campaign comprised of families of Americans held hostage or wrongfully detained overseas that advocates to spread awareness about their cases and safe return home; and the BG Heart & Sole Shoe Drive, which supports unhoused individuals in the Phoenix community.
Throughout the 2023 WNBA season, Griner teamed up with BOFH to tell the stories of wrongfully detained Americans abroad. The campaign launched in April with the unveiling of a mural at the Mercury’s home arena, Footprint Center, that featured the face of Griner and more than a dozen detained individuals. The 30-foot-wide painting features a QR code that directs to www.BringOurFamiliesHome.org, educating fans about the mission and how to get involved.
Griner and the Mercury hosted families and friends of wrongful detainees at Mercury games in Phoenix and around the country when the team visited other markets, and incorporated in-game PSAs and social media content to keep the names and stories of those detained top-of-mind. Additionally, the BOFH logo was affixed to the Mercury’s home court the entire 2023 season.
As part of the partnership with BOFH, the Mercury set up a letter-writing station at every regular season home game for fans to draft handwritten notes of hope and encouragement to those detained and calls for action to elected officials to continue to work to bring individuals home. Other WNBA teams also participated in the letter-writing campaign at their home games against Phoenix.
Griner founded the BG Heart & Sole Shoe Drive in 2016 to provide new and lightly used shoes to unhoused individuals in the Phoenix metro area. In partnership with the non-profit Phoenix Rescue Mission, Griner’s initiative collected and distributed nearly 3,000 pairs of shoes this season, in addition to other necessary items such as shirts, backpacks, hats and hygiene products.
Additional highlights of Griner’s efforts in the community during the 2023 WNBA season are included below:
BOFH awareness for families: The Mercury content team, on behalf of Griner, elevated the voices of families of several currently detained individuals including family of Zack Shahin, Emad Shargi (returned home in September 2023), Morad Tahbaz (returned home in September 2023), Luke Denman, Austin Tice, Eyvin Hernandez and Alexandra Forseth (co-founder of BOFH campaign).
BG’s Heart & Sole Shoe Drive: Before Phoenix’s first home game of the season, a Mercury season-ticket holder inspired by Griner’s commitment donated 452 pairs of shoes that had been collected in the offseason. On May 26, Griner participated in the first shoe distribution of the season, at a soup kitchen in downtown Phoenix. On Sept. 6, the Mercury hosted its second distribution event at the St. Vincent de Paul Washington Street Shelter in south Phoenix.
The WNBA Cares Community Assist Award is awarded monthly during the season to the player who best reflects the WNBA’s passion to make a difference in the community. In recognition of Griner’s commitment to the community throughout the 2023 WNBA season, the WNBA will donate $20,000 to be split among charities of Griner’s choice: Bring our Families Home and Phoenix Rescue Mission.

I've also been constantly thinking about trying to "run" an anarchist theatre. Just an event space which is upheld by donations and other non-profit products. Probably the usual stuff, literature, pins, posters, art, etc. The theatre space being free to use by anyone, though it would probably have to be booked in. I'd probably have film screenings on specific days of the week, theatre, open mics, concerts, comedy, slam poetry, lectures and so much more. Though, would I charge for tickets? It seems a bit silly to do so but I'd have to keep the lights on and I doubt donations and sales would suffice. Though I suppose they would be included in the sales, who knows. I'd honestly like everything to be free but I don't think that's possible in our current ecosystem and anarchism doesn't say no to barter. Humans will barter regardless of government. If that's represented by currency, it's representative bartering. But who the fuck knows? I'm not well versed enough in the topic to make these sorts of decisions. I just want to run a community space which is open to all.
Perhaps, it would be closer to a pay what you can system, instead of a decided price. I'll dwell on it.

Broadway is coming to Santa Monica. Jenna Ushkowitz (“Glee”) and Merle Dandridge (“The Last of Us,” “Station 19”) are teaming up and gathering their singer friends to raise money for Harvest Home L.A., a non-profit for unhoused pregnant women.
“Jenna, Merle, and Friends: A Night of Song” will feature pop and Broadway tunes performed by Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family”), Cheyenne Jackson (“American Horror Story”), Katie Lowes (“Scandal”), Kevin McHale (“Glee”), Austin McKenzie (“Spring Awakening”), Adam Shapiro (“Never Have I Ever”), Tracie Thoms (“9-1-1”), Carly Thomas Smith (“Rent”) and Kim Dawson (“Sing Off”).
The evening takes place on April 21 at The Eli & Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica.
“As a new mother, I felt compelled to support and serve other mothers in need within my local community,” Ushkowitz said in statement Thursday. “Some wonderful friends, who are also moms, introduced me to Harvest Home. The organization’s mission and dedicated work resonated deeply with me. And I feel privileged to contribute a small part in the work they do.”
Dandridge added, “The women at Harvest Home are a constant inspiration. The courage, the spirit, and the joy that erupts while embarking on motherhood during the toughest of circumstances…well, it puts the enormous heart-capacity and ferocious fire of being a woman on full display.”
Musical direction will be by Seth Rudetsky (Disaster! The Musical) and James Wesley (Stars in the House), with staging by Lee Martino (Les Girls). “Jenna, Merle and Friends” is being hosted in partnership with Rudetsky and Wesley’s Your Kids, Our Kids organization.
Since launching in 1985, Harvest Home has provided housing and support to more than 650 families, transforming the lives of unhoused pregnant women and their children through programs designed to empower and equip residents during the critical periods of pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum bonding.
“We are so grateful to Jenna and Merle for coming together with their friends to amplify the experience of unhoused pregnant mothers who are working to end generational homelessness for their families,” Harvest Home executive director Sarah Wilson said. “This event will not just raise awareness and funds, but honors capable and resilient women who are too often marginalized.”
Pre-sale tickets are currently available for purchase with general ticket sales starting Feb. 19. Go to www.harvesthomela.org/benefitconcert.

Vidiots, 4884 Eagle Rock Blvd, Los Angeles (Eagle Rock), CA 90041
Tumblr media
Welcome back, Vidiots and Eagle Theatre. Vidiots was once the best video rental store on the West Side of LA; two women founded it in 1985 and ran it for three decades. Vidiots was known as a place to find foreign, cult, and alternative films. The store closed in 2017 and put the titles in storage.
They’ve relaunched as a non-profit in the old movie theater of Eagle Rock (once known as the Yosemite Theatre, then the Eagle Theatre). The new space is a video rental store (they carry DVDs and BluRay discs, including many hard to find titles) combined with a 271 seat movie theater with screenings and special program. There’s also a community and event space, snack bar (popcorn, candy, soda), and bar (serving alcoholic drinks).
This month they’re showing movies like The Big Lebowski, The Princess Bride, ET, Wings of Desire, and His Girl Friday. General admission tickets are $12 with discounts for seniors, students, and the military. You can book your ticket online (there’s a $1 processing fee per ticket).  The seats are old but in good condition and there’s a drink holder and a good amount of legroom. They don’t show as many previews/trailers before the main attraction.
Video rentals are $3 for non-members and $2 for members. The staff and volunteers are very helpful. They claim to 60,000 titles, more than the streaming services offer.
5 out of 5 stars
