Weird to me that Save and Quit has become less and less of a video game industry standard, replaced with "Are you sure? All unsaved progress will be lost."
My cynical assumption for this phenomenon is that it makes the psychological barrier of quitting a bit higher thereby increasing playtime which leads to etc etc etc.
I want to be clear I have no particular insight beyond I miss save and quit, but I'm sick of going 'did I save?' to myself after having just saved and I feel like at minimum tacking on a system that suppresses that warning if there's no unsaved progress isn't an unreasonable ask.

Wheelchair users are moving.
Whether it's self propelling in a manual wheelchair, using the controls on a power chair, driving a mobility scooter? Wheelchair users are moving.
I've been on a tough journey today. Realising that my manual wheelchair isn't enough. But yknow what I noticed?
My ableism towards power chair users.
You see I thought that a power chair user wasn't really moving, the chair was. Until I pictured myself using that tool.
Why did it have to take my realisation that a power chair would help ME for me to see power chair users in a different light?
I was separating the chair from the user, even when I started using my own manual wheelchair. I saw power chairs as inherently different from manual chairs.
This even manifested in how I think about my own movement. Instead of moving, I thought about self propelling as "moving myself". That wording frames different forms of movement as lesser than others.
They are not.
Society has told us that walking is the only acceptable form of movement. It is not.
However you need to move, you should move. Whether you are on your feet, pushing wheels, or pressing buttons or using a joystick, you are moving. You are making those movements happen, no matter what way you're making the wheels go round.
Wheelchair users move. Just like everyone else.

Neopronouns user + neurogender culture is wanting to add au/auti/autis/autis/autiself and neu/neuro/neuros/neuros/neuroself to your pronouns and have people use them for you in real life. But you’re scared you’ll be accused of faking your autism because no *real* autistic would actually want to associated with their autism to the point that they make it their pronouns. *Real* autistics hide themselves.

downloaded the five calls app just now. for those who don't know what that is, its an app that lists current bills being discussed in congress, provides phone numbers for each congress person representing you/your area, and a script for what to say once you're on the phone.
im nervous about calling people, so i will probably make a phone call after hours to ensure i don't need to speak to a human.

also while im talking about doordash i think that the weird prevailing hatred of doordash drivers thats predicated on how "theyre rude and only shove their phone in our faces without talking to us" is like. ok well 90% of the doordash drivers we get speak very little english and are honestly on tighter deadlines than we are so maybe there is a reason they dont want to chitchat

it is a little annoying when people focus more on curly’s reaction than jimmy’s action. like i think at this point curly is getting more heat than jimmy.
it’s also annoying bc you can tell that jimmy will abuse and manipulate pretty much anyone around him to stay the perfect martyr. a victim. someone so put upon and in need of pity.
curly puts on a strong face but i’m not convinced that he isn’t a victim, too. maybe what jimmy does to him isn’t physical at first, but the manipulation remains. i think that curly’s “inaction” is more careful calculation— what will he be able to do realistically to ensure that 1. anya is safe 2. the crew is safe 3. they get their job completed 4. they get *paid* for their work. also, they are in space and have nowhere to escape to, they are isolated, and need to survive at least 240+ more days. he knows anya specifically really needs that money, and if they lose a big chunk of it due to whatever pony express views as a failing (which has been demonstrated to be pretty much every little thing), then what she went through will be “for nothing” so to speak. killing jimmy would likely result in more problems, not the least of which being a likely pay cut, and the fact that jimmy is co-pilot and may be needed in a technical emergency, even if he is a deplorable person. imprisoning him could also result in fines, and i imagine the main difficulty is sorting out the logistics of that for those 240+ more days. add in the fact that curly is not sleeping (and the already only get 5 hours of allotted sleep time) and actively having psychosis…. well.
unfortunately curly makes a grave miscalculation in what jimmy is willing to do. especially when he finds out that anya is pregnant.
make no mistake—i don’t think that curly’s actions were perfect by any means, i don’t think he acted fast enough or decisively enough, but i don’t think he was thinking of protecting jimmy, even if he said to jimmy’s face that they would figure it out and everything would be fine. when you’re facing down with a dangerous person, you will often placate to keep the situation de-escalated. outright fighting would be financially and physically risky.
i also don’t think it’s babying curly to think about the position that he’s in mentally, and as a manager AND as a friend (especially to anya). he fucked it up, though, absolutely. and we see the end result of that. i think that’s part of what makes it such a tragedy.
