Here’s the Aether Exhaustion Fic!!! I know it took forever, but I think it was really worth the wait!!

I did make it Xiao x Aether (just majorly hinted at, neither of them really make any moves) so I hope that’s okay? If not, I can always try again when I get more energy! (Aether x Xiao is just my go-to)

Aether dragged himself through the weeds of Liyues fields.

He just had to deal with 2 commissions of fighting, and two of incompetent citizens. And he didn’t want to be mean; he really wanted to help people. He loved helping people, but sometimes… it was just too much.

So, after his legs started to burn, he sat himself against a rock to rest.

Just breath… it’ll be okay… He told himself.

He was close to believing that, if it hadn’t been for the Hilichurls that started to gather around in the field.

“Noooo… no no no!” He muttered, frustrated.

He was tired- oh so absolutely tired.

But of course he had a job to do. A duty to the citizens of these nations.

He gathered the strength to pull himself up, and hold his sword steady in his hands.

The Hilichurls then noticed him- growling and hissing as they did.

“Hya!” He called out, sending a whirlwind towards the Hilichurls, knocking some of them back.

“Just- die!” He grunted, slashing others with his sword.

They lunged and one lit their fire stick, taking a moment before barreling towards him.

The fire just barely touched him, burning his shoulder- yet he didn’t have the time to heal himself before another threw a rock at him.

He sighed, slouching over as he turned his head to look at the Hilichurl that hit him.

“Really?” He asked, before slashing that one down too.

As he started to get better, a roar erupted from behind him.

“Fuck-” He muttered, turning to see the Mitachurl behind him.

“Come on! Please! Just leave me alone- I’m so tired!” He yelled, practically begging.

He felt his body slowling down- he didn’t know just how much more he could take.

The Mitachurl let out a thundering roar, then charged towards him.

He collapsed, holding his head in his hands, unable to even think clearly.

“Im so exhausted…” He murmured, shaking his head.

Wind began to whirl around him- the air keeping the monsters away.

“I'm so sick and tired of this!” He yelled, the wind got harsher and faster.

The ground started to shake and grow orange-hued glowing spikes.

“Just leave me alone! I can't take this anymore! I work all day- I protect everyone! But what's left for me!? Who’s gonna help me!? Huh!?” He screamed, letting all of his frustrations out onto the monsters.

And as the final Hilichurl laid dead at his feet, he fell to the ground once more, his body truly giving out.

“All I wanted… was to find my sister… All I've ever wanted… was to find my sister…” He cried, feeling the tears streaming down his face.

As his eyes blurred with tears, and his body hit the ground, he could only imagine a warm comfort, a body enveloping him in a much needed hug… or was he not imagining it?

The next time he woke up, he was in a familiar place. Wangshu Inn. The midday sun shone into the room, making him feel awake. Though he couldn't really ignore the striking pain in his right leg, and the pressure pain in his left.

“Aether!” He heard a voice call out.

He wiped his eyes, trying to wipe the last bit of sleep from his eyes. He recognized the voice, and he smiled.

“Paimon…” He said, exhausted.

“Oh thank the Archons, you’re alright! Paimon was so worried! You know, Paimon was scared you weren’t gonna wake up, but luckily-!” Paimon (obviously) couldn’t stop talking (or worrying).

“I wasn’t going to let anything happen to him, Paimon.” Another familiar voice said, coming over from the balcony.

Aether looked over and lo-and-behold; Adeptus Xiao. He was sitting on the railing, looking over at the two of them.

“You saved me?” Aether asked, in a bit of disbelief.

“Yes, why wouldn’t I?” He asked, walking towards the injured blond.

“I just… I didn’t call for you…” He muttered, slightly surprised by the kindness of the usually stoic Adeptus.

“You didn’t need to.”

Aether smiled (and slightly blushed), as he began to examine his wounds.

There was silence.

“Paimons gonna let you two speak! Paimon needs food~!” She giggled, then floated off to the dining area.

More… silence.

“Thank you…” Aether said, eventually.

“No need to thank me. I only did what I needed to do.” Xiao said truthfully.

“I um- I’ll find a way to pay you back…” Aether said, “It might take a bit though… These wounds seem pretty bad.” He laughed a bit,

“Why… why would you need to pay me back?” Xiao asked.

“I- uh… just thought- well, you know, you helped me so… I need to help you?” Aether tried to piece the parts together.

Xiao looked at him- he looked upset.

“Wh-what?” Aether asked, concerned as Xiao took a seat on the end of his bed.

“I saved you because I wanted to,” Xiao stated, then he got a brilliant idea, “But if you insist on paying me back… I want you to relax for a couple of days. Not just for your wounds, but for yourself in general.”

Aether's eyes got wide.

“I- I can't do that! I’ve got commissions and requests to complete! I mean, once I can get some food in my system, I’ll be just fine!” Aether said, smiling awkwardly as he tried to convince his friend.

Xiao clearly wasn’t having it.

“You mortals think you are capable of everything in the world…” Xiao sighed.

Aether frowned.

“But you aren’t.” He continued, “And you'll do more harm than good if you don't realize that.”

Xiao’s face was stern, but his voice was softer than Aether had ever heard it before.

“Okay… fine…” Aether gave in, “We can relax, but just for a bit.”

Xiao seemed pleased with this.

“Good, would you like me to help you replace your bandages before we leave?” He asked.

Aether looked confused, “We’re leaving?”

“I actually wanted to take you to one of my favorite places to relax… if that's alright…”

Xiao had meant for it to sound like a comforting suggestion, or even a cheerful one, but it didn’t exactly come off that way. He wasn’t ever good at this stuff, even when he was with… the other friends…

Aethers face got pinker, and he seemed to get flustered but still smiled brightly, “O-oh! Yeah, um, of course, we can do that!”

Xiao felt his face get hot, seeing the blond smile like that.

“Good…” He murmured, looking away to hide his face.

“And yes, I could use some help with these wounds.” Aether replied.

So, Xiao started to help Aether re-bandage himself, making sure to wrap him up nicely.

“Is that alright?” He asked, bandaging where he had gotten burned.

“Yeah, that's- uh, that's fine…” Aether stuttered, his face was a sunsettia red color.

Xiao didn’t know why he was so flustered, till he realized just how close their faces were to each other.

He quickly but carefully finished taking care of the wound, and once he was done, he helped the boy stand.

“There, how do you feel?” He asked Aether.

“Hmm… Hungry…” Aether groaned playfully.

“Oh, right, we should go get you some food then.” Xiao said, holding his hand out for Aether to take it.

Aether took it carefully and they began to walk. His legs didn’t hurt too much, but enough for him to need help.

As they made their way down to the dining area of the Inn, they saw Paimon talking to the chef.

“Oh! Aether, Xiao! Paimon was just about to order her second round of lunch, what do you guys want?” She asked as she floated over.

“Your… second round?” Xiao asked, concerned.

“Don’t worry, this is normal for Paimon.” Aether told his friend, “I’ll have… Tianshu Meat, please.” He asked with a smile.

“Great! What about you, Xiao? Do you want anything?” Paimon asked.

“Oh, I… I don’t-” Xiao attempted to answer for himself.

“He’ll have some Almond Tofu.” Aether smiled.

“Huh?” Xiao asked, looking at him as Paimon floated back towards the chef.

“I know you like it, and you can consider it as some payback… for your help…” Aether told him softly.

“Right… okay.” Xiao agreed.

Whatever made him feel better, he's fine with.

So, the two of them sat at a table, and Paimon soon joined them, along with a feast of breakfast foods.

“And- this is supposed to be your second round of food?” Xiao asked.

“Don't try to think about it too long, I still don't even know how Paimon can eat this much…” Aether whispered to him as they watched Paimon pick each dish off as if they were the Millelith fighting hilichurls.

So, the two of them ate quietly while Paimon did all the talking.

Soon they all finished (including Paimon who was now stuffed). The chef then came over to collect the dishes.

“Oh, here! I’ll help!” Aether offered, attempting to stand on his own to grab the plates.

As he tried to stand, his right leg gave out under him and he fell back into his seat- wait seats don't have arms and body heat-

As he realized what or who he fell onto, he started to apologize.

“Sorry-! I shouldn’t have tried to stand- Im so sorry-” He freaked, transferring back to his own seat.

“Aether, it's okay. You fell, I caught you. It's alright.” Xiao told him gently.

“Wow Xiao! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you that comforting!” Paimon mused, smirking a bit.

“Paimon! I-it wasn’t that big of a deal!” Aether blushed.

“Okay! Okay!” Paimon backed off, “Anyway, Paimon will go help with the dishes.”

As Paimon grabbed some plates and floated off, Aether was left very confused.

Since when has Paimon ever wanted to help with physical labor? (carrying things can't be very difficult for her, but still, she was helping nonetheless)

He then realized it was the second time she had left him alone with Xiao.

“So… what other things must I do to complete your request of relaxing?” Aether asked curiously.

Xiao thought for a moment.

“We’ll… if it didn’t bother you too much, we could go to a resting place that I like…?” He posed the question, waiting for Aethers reaction.

“Oh! Yeah, sure! I’d love to see where you hang out when you aren’t here or out battling!” Aether seemed delighted to know more about the Yaksha.

Xiao felt a smile dance on his lips, but he pushed the urge away. He instead focused on how Aether could go from being so happy and bright, to being saddened and in despair. It… made him feel things towards the blond… Things he hadn’t felt in such a long time.

He could barely say that he had friends, and even less so people closer than that. But people like Morax and Aether… made it different.

They were both people that could be close to him without his karma taking effect, and had helped him in many ways. He was forever grateful for them, but was scared to open to them any more than that.

Yet when he saw them smile, or laugh, or be kind to him and share in their comfort… It felt good. He enjoyed it and that scared him.

He was pulled from his thoughts when he heard Aether calling his name.

“Xiaoo~?” The blond called out in front of him.

“Hm? Sorry- must’ve… got lost in my head…” He muttered, turning to face Aether.

“It's alright! Now, about that place?” Aether beamed.

“Oh, yeah, it's just on the coast of Guili Plains. Pretty nice. If we get going now, we’ll reach there by the evening’s end.” Xiao told him.

“Great!” Aether went to stand again, but Xiao was able to steady him before he collapsed again.

“Ah- right. Haha…” He laughed nervously, holding into Xiaos forearm tightly as he steadied himself, putting less pressure on his right leg (It was hurt worse).

Soon enough, Paimon came back from the kitchen.

“Oh! Are you two going somewhere?” Paimon asked.

“Actually, yes! Do you wanna come with us? We are going to relax. Well- I’m relaxing as per Xiao’s request.” Aether explained.

As Aether said this, Paimon seemed to get awfully tired.

“Oh wow!” She yawned, “Paimon’s really starting to feel tired! All that food has definitely caused this… Paimon will stay here and sleep! You two can go off and have fun!”

She then turned to Xiao specifically and said, “Have Aether back before Midnight or Paimon will be very upset with you!”

Xiao looked a little nervous, which surprised Aether. How could he look anything other than brooding and upset? And even more so; how could Paimon make Xiao nervous?

“Okay, okay, Paimon, we’ll stay safe. Now go get your greatly deserved nap.” Aether giggled, being dramatic.

So, Paimon floated off and Xiao and Aether left Wangshu Inn. Aether got a wonderful idea as they began to near the bridge that departed from the Inn.

“Oh! Xiao! Could you pick that flower for me?” He asked, pointing to a Silk Flower bush. “I would, but my legs really hurt.”

It wasn’t really a lie, but it would help him.

“Oh… sure.” Xiao agreed, “I don’t really know why you would want such a plain looking-“

Xiao bent down to pick the flower, when suddenly- Aether jumped onto his back. Xiao managed to stay steady enough to get a hold of Aether's legs.

“A-Aether?” He exclaimed out with a bit of panic and a sigh.

“Sorry! Is this okay?” He asked, leaning over his shoulder to look at him.

Xiao felt his face heat up once more.

What is happening to me? He thought to himself.

As they both got stabilized, Xiao gave him the picked Silk Flower.

“Yeah, it’s alright. Here, the flower you wanted…” He said, handing Aether the flower.

Aether took the flower, then neatly nestled it into Xiao's hair.

“There!” Aether smiled.

Why… why is he making my heart beat so fast? Am I dying? What’s going on?…

“Um- y-yeah… how about we get going?” Xiao asked, looking straight ahead.

“Onward!” Aether smiled, pointing towards the bridge.

The walk was nice, they talked and laughed and even got to watch the sky change from blue to orange, to pink and yellow.

As they got to the shore, sitting under a nearby tree, Xiao couldn’t help but feel… so calm…

“It’s so pretty~!” Aether was mesmerized by the view.

Meanwhile, Xiao was mesmerized by him.

He caught himself staring at the blond, admiring his hair, his eye and clothes. For some reason, he was so enamored by him. Things he had never felt before were rising to the surface, and as Aether looked at him, he couldn’t look away this time.

“Are you alright Xiao?” Aether asked, cocking his head slightly.

“Yeah… I am…” Xiao murmured, allowing himself to smile.

He felt warm.

Aether smiled back, and scooted himself closer to Xiao, which surprised the dark haired boy.

Aether then laid his head on Xiaos shoulder, which wasn't too uncomfortable.

“Thank you, Xiao...” Aether whispered, looking out to the water, “…for today, I mean.”

Xiao looked down at the blond, then back at the gleaming water too.

And as he rested his head onto Aethers, he whispered, “of course… you deserved it.”

Their hands moved to hold each other, and for once, both of them could breath and feel free.

Whb nobles reacting to their ship coming true

When Paimon finds out that you're in a relationship with Satan, he squeels. He's not one to rub salt on the wounds of others (not often at least), but he would make a few posts goating about being right all along. Starts making plans for the wedding since that's the only reasonable step forward. Whenever you're not with Satan, you're with Paimon on a self-care/gossip day. He's very happy that his wingman act wasn't in vaine.

Eligos throws a party and he invites the entirety of Hell over. He has no decency, he would spam all the shipping forums with photos of you and Mammon. Don't bother reporting it for spam, he has 500 alt accounts. He personally sews you and Mammon's clothes for the party. The costumes look like that of people getting married, but Eligos doesn't see what the problem is. He gets into a fist fight with everyone that disaggred with him on the forums. Bimet is in the back betting on who wins the fist fight.

Foras' squeel is so high pichted that Hades will get noise complaints from Naberius about it. He is very happy to say the least. He will turn invisible and spy on you and Leviathan being cute together like a proud father. The relationship between you and his king is like his personal child, and he can't wait to watch it grow further. Finally mod Jjok has a free day without any complaints of doxxing.

When Amon gets the news, he's not even surprised. He always was under the impression that you and Beelzebub were dating (that's why he didn't persue you himself) so this is old news to him. Would invite himself to all your dates with Beelzebub so he can protect the two of you... as in get free food and be near his king. He'll be a lot more energetic after the fact, so much so that he might make a few visits to the people that still ship you with anyone else. After all, they are going against Avisos' one law, they must be punished in some way.

Gamigin gets so excited that he starts screaming and crying. Might even puke from excitement. He is the happiest out of all of the shippers. Finally, his brother Lucifer found someone that loves him as much as he loves them. This is the happiest day of his life and he can't stop crying while hugging the two of you. Would start calling you sibling MC and invite you to all the communal dinners in Paradise Lost. Would insist you call him and everyone in the country brother or sister. You're now part of the Paradise Lost familly and you'll be treated as such.

How long did it take Paimon to get used Aether and everyone else being open with their relationships across Teyvat?

It really didn’t take her much time at all because before the idea was attempted, Paimon could clearly see Aether felt alone and pretty down on himself in a way that was clearly him getting inside his own head. But after seeing him be able to form more deeper, intimate connections with a person, Paimon was really relieved that Aether looked calmer and happier as a person. She understands that somethings can’t always be discussed with her.

After Liyue she watched closely how his mood would change around certain people they met and would even ask for his opinion about individuals. As long as Aether doesn’t look like a clown and nobody treats him poorly then she approves of his conduct. Paimon will not tolerate consistent instances of him being wrapped around a person’s finger. She thinks he’s too cool to not have someone smitten back a bit. She is both wingman and the type of sassy little sister to say “If you hurt him then you deal with me!”

His partners find it cute, yet a little concerning because she didn’t say that in the third person. Paimon only gets a little grumpy during the “courting” period and the first few weeks because he’s always out and dates typically means a lunch or dinner at a place she probably would love to go to.

“...i’m sorry, what?” aether asks, not believing what the oni had just asked him as paimon’s mouth opens agape. in all honesty, when itto had asked the traveler to help him with something, he expected that he’ll be hunting more onikabutos,

but this? this is much more than just onikabutos.

itto scratches the back of his head with a nervous chuckle, hues of red are visible on his face. “w-well uh, you see… this is sorta like, my first time and i really, really don’t want to mess things up, and you’re the only person who i can talk to about this – could you help me ask y/n out on a date to the festival?”

aether blinked a few times.

“...y/n? you mean the y/n kamisato?”

it’s not the fact that itto somehow fell in love with you, the second sibling of the kamisato clan, that surprised the honorary knight. it’s the fact that someone could make the arataki itto become a flustered mess that surprised him.

itto nods in response, his smile reaches up to his eyes from you being mentioned. “yes. you’re the only person i can think of who knows them a lot and i think it’d be great if you help me, y’know, like a wingman?”

“what do we get in return?” paimon asks, crossing her arms.

“..a treat from me?” itto said hesitantly. although the way he said it was doubtful, aether paid no mind to it. if there’s one thing he knows about itto, he’s quite a genuine person. so when he says he’ll treat aether and paimon in a hesitant tone, it’s not because he’s hesitant on treating them, but because of the fact he isn’t sure if he has the finance for it.

oh well, free food is free food.

paimon could care less as well, her eyes brightening from itto’s response. “say no more! we’ll make sure you’ll ask y/n in no time!” she exclaims, flying around the oni happily, who sighed in relief.

“you have my thanks, sunshine! when can we do it?”

aether and paimon immediately shoot each other a look. now that they think about it, it seems as though the universe is on itto’s side. they were basically done with everything they had to do for the day and are free to do whatever they want… not to mention the fact that thoma told them you’re free from your duties in the clan as well when they had asked how you and ayaka are.

the traveler’s mouth twitches up. “how do you feel about today?”

it didn’t take long for aether and paimon to find you in inazuma city.

however, what took long was them helping itto practice asking you out on a date. if traveler could earn a mora each time the oni brushes his hair profusely before continuing to practice, he would’ve been possibly richer than diluc ragnvindr himself.

it’s sort of endearing, to be quite frank. the oni claimed that he’s your bestest friend in the whole world and will be the bestest boyfriend you’ll ever get, only to instantly turn into a blushing mess when he realized what he just said.

now that they both think about the ridiculous number of times when itto messed his confession up, only celestia can tell if itto could pull this off.

when they spotted you eating at shimura’s restaurant, they instantly gesture itto to quickly come up to you and ask you out, immediately hiding behind the building that’s not too far away from where you are and allow them to listen to your conversation.

“h..hey y/n!” itto called, causing you to look away from your food and turn to itto’s direction with brightened eyes.

“oh, hey itto, it’s good to see you!” you ask, stopping yourself from eating your meal first when you spotted the oni. “are you here to eat dinner as well?”

he froze for a moment. this is not what he practiced with traveler and paimon at all!

“uh, n.. no– i mean, yes?”

hearing “yes” as his response caused you to excitedly gestured to him to sit down on the empty stool-chair that’s next to yours. “you can sit next to me if you want? i was starting to eat.” you said.

in panic, itto turns around to where aether and paimon are hiding, causing them to panic as well and motion him to do what you asked. they honestly didn’t care how certain onlookers noticed the honorary knight’s presence, eyeing them strangely at the sight of him and paimon hiding behind the building.

“thanks, i uh, appreciate it..?” itto spoke, sitting down next to you. wait, is his hair okay? did he put in enough perfume or did he put in too much? crap, what was he supposed to say again?!

“it’s no problem, really. it’s always better to eat food with someone instead of eating alone, right?” you replied with a small laugh, causing itto to laugh harder out of awkwardness.

it truly amazes aether how you didn’t shoot itto a strange look from his reactions, but it’s safe to say he and paimon knew things would not go well, especially since itto looks like he’s about to have a bean allergy attack.

itto then clears his throat, wiping his hands on his lap nervously. “so uh, y/n,”

you gave him a curious look on your face. “yes?”

“i was lying, actually. i-i didn’t really come here to eat dinner, i’m here to uh, tell you something..” he said, scratching the back of his head.

your expression immediately changes to concern. “oh dear, did something happen? you can tell me anything, i’m your bestest friend, after all!”

ouch, he did not just get friend-zoned!

itto chuckles nervously. should he really shoot it? what if you only see him as truly a friend and not something more unlike how he sees you?

he glances once more at the traveler's direction, and the blonde-haired man doesn't hesitate to profusely gesture to him to continue as paimon gives him a thumbs-up in encouragement.

he then remembers what they told him before he was sent away to where you are.

“if you feel a lot nervous and can’t find yourself to do it, then all of our efforts are a waste!” paimon replied when itto had asked them what happens if he can’t do it. “i’m sure y/n will accept it, you’re a great guy!”

aether nods in agreement, giving the tall man an encouraging pat on the back. “paimon’s right, i’m sure y/n wouldn’t reject you. who would even reject the number one oni?” he said, trying not to show the cringe look on his face when he called itto the number one oni.

nevertheless, it didn’t matter to itto if aether cringed from such title. it was enough to make him feel confident. sunshine is right, the oni thought. i am the number one oni! i can do this!

itto immediately looks back at you, who’s still staring at him in concern.

“well uhm, i know this might sound like a surprise, but i just wanted to ask if you’d uh…”

you tilt your head, raising an eyebrow in confusion. “if i’d…?”

itto feels his cheeks warming up. no, he can’t yield to his nervousness! he needs to get it together!

“i-if you’d uh… uhhh…”

someone is killing him now.

aether immediately gives himself a face-palm. out of all the times itto could’ve stumbled over his words, it had to be the time when he’s actually going to confess!

paimon lets out an irritated noise. “that’s it! i’ll do this myself–”

before the honorary knight’s companion could even take one move forward, the two instantly heard you laughing, causing aether and paimon to freeze.

it’s safe to say that itto copied the same reaction. why are you laughing? does he look that humiliating–?!

“i’m sorry! i’m sorry for laughing!” you said, trying to refrain yourself from laughing. “it took you long enough to actually ask me out to go to that festival.”

“...w-wait, you knew?!” itto exclaims, paying no mind to how some people passing by gave him a strange look for his loud outburst. “how?! i didn’t even say anything – can you read minds?”

you laughed once more, wiping a small tear from your eye. “itto, i was in uyuu restaurant when you told the traveler about it. all of you were quite loud enough for me to overhear from another room.” you explained.

itto could tell his ears turned redder. how embarrassing, you knew all along because of his loud mouth!

you then pat his shoulder. “you really didn’t have to practice for the whole morning and afternoon just for me. i’d still accept your offer even if you’re just stuttering the whole time.” you said reassuringly.

his heart fluttered. he praises the gods above for letting him meet a person like you. however, his lovestruck expression immediately falls when he realizes what you also had just said.

Gamigin would be the best wingman. The type of guy to prepare the most romantic dinner for you and Lucifer. He's the top Luci x MC shipper, he gets into ship wars with any other noble. “It’s nice to meet you too!” He tried to ignore the way his heart stuttered at your smile. “What’s your name?”

“I’m (Y/N), Klee’s older sibling.”

“Oh! She talks a lot about you.”

“Only good things, I hope!” You giggle, and he nods.

“You’re here for vacation, right? How long are you staying?” He could feel Paimon’s eyes on him.

Klee brightened. “Yeah! (Y/N) and I are staying for a whole week! We’re gonna do all the cool Liyue things!”

“I wanted to come during the Moonchase festival, but everything kind of got in the way.” You explained. “This was the earliest we could’ve come.”

“Oh. That makes sense. The Lantern Rite is only a month or two away, though!”

“Oh…” Clearly, you hadn’t known about it. “Maybe next year, then!”

“Maybe.” An idea came to him, one that he knew Paimon would have mixed feelings about. “Paimon and I come here a lot. We’re constantly going between Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma. Maybe we can show you around, if you want!”

You didn’t get a chance to respond over Klee’s cheers, and so settled for a nod.

“Do you want to meet for breakfast tomorrow?”

“Oh, can we, (Y/N)?” Klee asked, hugging you.

You laughed. “Sure. We’d love to.”

“What was that about, mister?” Paimon asked once they got to their room.

“What was what?”

“That deal!” That, and Paimon had seen the way Aether looked at you. She could not wait to absolutely destroy him over it. She’d been oddly silent the entire conversation, watching him flounder. “And you were blushing. Paimon saw you blush.”

“I wasn’t blushing!”

“Yes you were.”

“No I wasn’t! And I just wanted to be helpful! Klee is a friend of mine!”

“Suuuuuree. Paimon knows it’s more than that.” But she dropped the subject. It was getting late, and she curled up under one of the blankets as Aether went to the window. She couldn’t see what he was doing, but she could’ve sworn the tips of his ears were pink.

The next week went astoundingly well. Every morning, you and Klee would meet with Aether and Paimon for breakfast, and then they’d take you out on some activity. You seemed to crave Aether’s presence, which scared you. The two of you grew closer each day, and that seemed to give you butterflies even more than the prospect of taking Klee to go cliff diving. You did not take her cliff diving, by the way.

The last day had arrived, and it was time for goodbyes. Klee seemed to be whispering something to Paimon, which you knew better than to trust.

Still, you stood with Aether awkwardly. You weren’t sure if you were to give him a hug or something, and you felt heat rising in your face as you tried and failed to think of anything to say that would sound too wrong or too right.

Klee exchanged a glance with Paimon. They really had gone downhill. She looked up at you with a face that she thought said “if you don’t do it, I will” but really looked like she was waiting for you.

You looked like you wanted to say something, but you weren’t.

So she did.

“Aether? Will you date my sibling?”

Both you and Aether turned to her in shock.

But Aether, who was always thinking something, she was sure, answered her as soon as he could.

“Of- of course! If they’re willing, that is…” his blush deepened, and he was staring at you, not Klee.

It was all you could do to nod shyly, and the relief on his face was enough to propel you into his arms.

You hugged him close, certain nothing bad could come of this.

I sometimes forget how flirty the traveller is and not like, with romantic Intent but catch them throwing a pick up line in casual conversation and when Paimon is like CAN YOU STOP she’s just staring at her guide and companion like :) also, she gets involved in so much either because paimon wants to do it or she gets roped into it by outside forces, and would, 100%, do stupid shit like kissing booth, writing love letters, being ultimate wingman or ultimate cockblock; she’s a free spirit, and paimon really brings this out of her more and more, very much helping her put her distress to rest on a day to day basis where it feels she really is just travelling a new world like she would with her brother.

There was more to the contract than a gnosis and test of Liyue. It seemed like a simple deal five hundred years ago: so long as Morax never had a soulmate, the Tsaritsa would never harm Liyue and she would not get his gnosis. But the moment he gained a soulmate, all that belonged to him was forfeit. He thought the deal left Liyue safe—he'd lived thousands of years without a soulmate. The Tsaritsa would be dead and gone by the time she'd have a chance to collect.

Five hundred years later, Childe appears in Liyue, Zhongli gains a soulmate mark, and everything falls apart.

Notes: I CANNOT BELIEVE I SLEPT ON THIS FIC FOR SO LONG. Read it and I mean it! I admitted initially steered clear of this fic because I wasn’t comforted with a soulmate tartali fic pre-Osial but this fic is actually post-Ostial *facepalm* The writing is phenomenal and Aevas does some beautiful worldbuilding that you typically don’t see in Genshin Impact fics. I love the dynamic between Childe and Zhongli here and the angst is real. The author writes the two as very human characters who makes mistakes, etc. and notably Zhongli struggles with the concept of Childe as his soulmate (who understandably is upset by the rejection when he realizes). They get better though. Also very plotty. A+ writing.

He ultimately uses that time to bully Morax into confronting his immortal neuroses, to make Aether and Paimon suffer, and to figure out how to get that ginger boy Morax has his eye on to make a move already.

Notes: Very lighthearted, humor-filled fic. Love how Azhdaha is so flippant. Interactions with Zhongli and Childe are pure gold.

Notes: This is a Soul Eater AU with some college/university AU vibes (?) but you don’t really need to know much about the anime. It’s a cute AU and I love the premise. Light angst but otherwise, it’s a pretty semi-plotty fic. Easter egg Kaeya and Diluc though.

It’s an apt description, given that most of the time, wannabe-Archons have to go through dozens of tests with nothing as their reference, relying solely on their wit and strength and hoping it would be enough. At least, until they survive the end of the whole game—and they might not have to undergo a painful reincarnation which feels like a hundred bones being stitched together again.

On his seventh game, Childe Tartaglia reincarnates this time in the body of a young man.

Damn, he thinks, looking down at his thin body, his slightly calloused fingers. This won’t be good when facing the other Hydro Decisions.

Notes: This is sort of a classic amnesia fic. I particularly really liked the way that Kaeya was written in this. I feel like the author did a really good job nailing his character and they have a way of capturing the subtle things.

Notes: Shortword, Kaeya gets auctioned off. Diluc makes impulsive (but good) decisions and scores himself a Date but displays an inability to do Date Planning. Venti deserves a pat on the back. Very sweet.

It explores the aftermath of the Osial Incident and how Zhongli and Childe reconnect. Platonically...though I guess it can be read romantically.

Childe pulls (? on accident or on purpose, I can not tell) the equivalent of leaving the jacket in the car post-date to get date to call for the second date. Also, the author has a gift for like...writing angst...without writing angst? Like the whole fic is like brimming with everything that the characters aren’t saying but the thoughts aren’t necessarily written out BUT YOU KNOW THOSE DUMBFUCKS ARE JUST LIKE. BRIMMING WITH FEELS?

But Zhongli whispers, his low voice rooted in the back of Childe’s mind. “Changsun, the merchant, who is never too Mora-enthralled to turn away a needy child. There’s Tiantian—she will allow anyone to join the Adventurer’s Guild—she knows what it is to be desperate.”

Childe ducks away from them and hurries out over the bridge. It’s a warm, sunny day, the kind he would have complained about, whining about his delicate Snezhnayan skin. “It’ll burn, or worse, freckle. Would you still like me if I was freckled?”

Then Zhongli would say, “The people of Liyue will remember your sacrifice.” And he would wrinkle his nose.

Notes: The author has a way with perfectly balancing angst with humor in a way that makes you cackle. There’s a lot of feels in this one. Zhongli tries communicating--Childe runs away a lot. There’s a lot of love for Liyue in this one.
