Edit: this went a lot further than I expected so I feel like I should reinforce the fact that I firmly believe they’re all autistic (or have ADHD). It’s not just these three. They’re all my little ND babies.

okay but what if cap stims with morse code, like s-o-s or army ranks or tank models or something, when he gets overwhelmed. pat notices first and it doesnt happen often, but he slowly gets the others to pay attention too, and they start doing their best to wrap things up or accommodate him whenever he starts tapping, but one time they’re too blatant about it and cap is weirded out like “what are you doing” and theyre like “oh well, we were just going to go away because you started- yknow-” and he’s freaking out and insisting he’s fine and doesnt know what theyre talking about, but pat calms him down and explains that they’ve noticed him tapping morse code when things are too loud or a plan gets changed or something and they’ve tried to work around him and give him an out, a chance to leave, and he gets really emotional because he was trying so hard to hide it but instead of berating him for it, they all want to accommodate him and anyway family family family

so for the past couple weeks at uni i have been wearing an outfit inspired by each of the bbc ghosts ghosts! i actually have had the time of my life putting these together, i’m so so excited to finally be able to post these!!

my favourite little details are ummm mary’s period-accurate (men’s) shirt i already had made, cap’s aeroplane cufflinks from my grandfather, pat’s arrow necklace, and julian’s buttplug-reminiscient and vodka earrings :>

robin; unfortunately you can’t see it under my (fake) fur scarf, but the necklace there is a real wallaby rib!!

humphrey; idk something a little ironic probably about the cross necklace. that ring is a little locket one which i thought fit the Plotting vibes... would have poison in it if only he knew what was going on.

mary; this one is the closest to historically accurate! the shirt is a men’s one and is based on a pattern from 1580-1600, and i handsewed it entirely!!! it’s made from linen. also love the little waterwheel house necklace :)

kitty; the pearly earrings are from the versailles gift shop website and are based on some that marie antoinette wore i believe. late 1700s tease.

thomas; the waistcoat is also handmade by me, though not period accurate or handsewn. was what i wore for my grade 12 formal lol.

cap; the army pants are real modern australian army ones i got from the op shop LOL. again the cufflinks are sooo cute and my grandfather’s, i wish i knew when they were from but they so give idk. war vibes.

pat; the scout patches are the welcome to night vale ones!!

julian; definitely my favourite outfit, though i’m pleased with all of them!! the cologne is 4711 and i wore it bc it’s my only cologne and it makes me feel sooo masc. also i wish julian would wear a miniskirt.

This could 100% be similar to other peoples’ ideas, but I propose a ghosts high school au in which the inhabitants of button house are part of a history club

They’re all really passionate about learning about their specific time period, and considering me, who’d have guessed that I’m saying it’s a special interest for some of them

Robin, Mary, Humphrey, Kitty, Thomas, and Fanny are all seniors, Captain, Pat, and Julian are juniors, and Allison is a freshman

Aside from Julian, Fanny, and Pat, people think the group is kind of weird, so they don’t really interact with them a lot

Allison and Mike have been dating since like 7th grade and they both just moved to this school from the smaller of the two middle schools on the other side of town

Mike isn’t in the club, but loves hearing about their shenanigans

Their full names are Robin Stone, Mary Vernon, Humphrey Bone, Kitty Bellamy, Thomas Thorne, Steph Button, Laurie or Captain Gunn (everyone is missing out on the comedic genius of giving Cap the surname Gunn), Pat Butcher, and Jules Fawcett (I stole a couple of these from here: https://images.app.goo.gl/52CwxSMMdEnXi2mMA )

Some headcanons about the crew:

Robin started the club

He originally called it the paleontology club and started it with his brother who graduated

After this, he and Mary who were already friends made it into a history club where she added her knowledge of Middle Ages and the witch trials

Mary is pyrophobic and Robin can be something of a pyromaniac

People should really know not to date Thomas by now

He will write you poems, but he will also be the most overbearing guy you have ever seen

Captain’s pretty much grown up around army people, so his interest in history probably started the earliest of everyone

From kindergarten to now, he could often be seen reading something about ww2 or the army

Mary, Humphrey, Pat, and Captain are autistic (I go back and forth on everyone else lmao)

Only Humphrey is diagnosed

Mary wears eye makeup, but she always forgets and rubs her eyes, smudging it all over her face

Humphrey has severe dyspraxia

For several years now, Captain has not been seen without a fidget toy in hand for longer than 10 minutes

Thomas keeps a note book in the breast pocket of his button up

Mary’s other special interest is Mori kei, cooking, and various crafty stuff

Julian is infamous for the time him and several other students were caught having sex together on school grounds and got suspended

Fanny’s on the speech and debate team and she’s in triple advanced math

Robin’s actually really good with people and strategy type stuff, but he’s never been good at school

Robin’s favorite class is astronomy

Allison is Fanny’s 2nd cousin in law

Cap and Fanny grew up in really stifling, high-pressure environments, and can sometimes have trouble understanding the perspectives of those who didn’t

They sort of bonded over this shared experience

Even if Kitty’s older than him, Captain sometimes takes a sort of mentor role with her because her parents never really let her learn how to do things and he’s very street smart

They don’t really have a club leader, but Pat tends to run activities and Cap coordinates keeping the club alive and raising funds for their yearly after school field trip to the local museum

Thomas and Humphrey are on the soccer team

The archetype of 'Very Silly Very Eldritch Man' is perhaps my favourite of all time, so this was inevitable. Like :

As a character, he falls into a category just adjacent to fae [magic-y, lots of eldritch traits that you only notice out of the corner of your eye, will make you to play silly games for your soul, Odd and Unusual In Nature] which is just. Like <3 that was always one of my favourite things about DW, even as a kid, and specifically The Doctor?

Like The Doctor’s gonna outlast humanity no matter what, that’s inevitable with what they are, but that isn’t the point, and that doesn’t change the interest/adoration/love that they've got for Humanity now :)

Even after they’re all gone, The Doctor’s always gonna have their hope, and The Toymaker’s always gonna have their games :) They both have a certain love for humanity, even if it’s in different ways, and with very, very different motivations attached. <- I don’t know if this makes sense. It is almost 1 am. Runs away like an animal crossing villager. Immortal Beings who find a way to love the Mortal will always make my heart go soupy.

TLDR. he is so particularly silly and tragic in a way that makes my brain. Go goopy. Also he must be so very touch starved and I want him to cling to me like a baby sloth :)

NO BUT <333 AAAAA PATRICK BUTCHER MY LOVE. Where do I even begin with this wonderful wonderful man.

He gave a child a bow and arrow and didn’t see how that’d go wrong. He has the sweetest smile. He misses being able to eat food so much. His voice reaches a pitch that could rival a dog-whistle when he’s angry. He’s the shortest of the cast. He just wanted to say hello. When he was dying and in pain, he made himself stay calm and happy because even worse than dying was the idea of scaring the kids. He’s even autistic.

I have to believe that this man was bred in a lab in Yorkshire to make my brain turn inside out, in some sort of long-term assassination attempt. He calls his wife petal for heavensakes, there was never a hope of me not falling madly in love. that entire flashback scene had me making goosenoises. he is such a delight. Pat do you want a little kiss on your moustache. Pat we could get ghost married. Hey where are you going-
