Lapidot headcanons because I love and miss them:

Peridot loves telling Lapis about complex mathematical equations or facts about space and Lapis just grins and hopes Peridot can't tell she doesn't know what tf she's talking about

After the tragic death of Pumpkin, they raise a family of squash and gourds that Steven brought to life for them

Neither are big on public displays of affection, but when it's just the two of them at the barn, they're never not touching each other

Both are autistic AF, but on completely opposite ends of the spectrum and often clash with each other's traits

Lapis enjoys sleeping from time to time and whenever she does, Peridot doesn't leave her side until she wakes up

You would think that Lapis is the big spoon ... That is incorrect. (Although Peridot occasionally insists to be the little spoon and her Lapis will gladly oblige)

Neither eat food except for Lapis when Steven comes over with lunch

When they aren't with each other, Peridot is usually hanging out with Amethyst and Bismuth, and Lapis is either getting alone time or she's with Steven or Pearl

Peridot hates her hair being messed with and immediately fixes it if it becomes disheveled (Lapis knows this and messes up Peri's hair any chance she can get just to hear her make angry gremlin noises)

Lapis "I woke up like this" Lazuli couldn't care less about how her hair looks (because it changes every episode fjemrnwkf) but only allows Peridot to touch it

Amethyst introduced them to cannabis consumption and although Peridot refuses to indulge in it, Lapis absolutely has a bong in the upper loft of the barn that she uses to calm herself when the PTSD attacks are especially bad

Lapis goes through periods where she doesn't want to be touched by anyone, including Peridot, but will always compromise with holding hands or sitting close to her depending on the day

Kissing is a very new thing for them both, since they witnessed Ruby and Sapphire do it at their wedding and on other occasions and wanted to give it a try for themselves. At first they're a little awkward about it, but they get the hang of it after a while and really start to enjoy it

Lapis asked Bismuth to make Peridot a special helmet that can be worn at all times because she was worried that Peridot would crack her gem with how much her clumsy ass constantly trips and falls on her face, but Peridot hates wearing it, especially if the other crystal gems are around, and compromises to only wear it in battle or training since it actually does provide adequate protection

Peridot wears boxer briefs and lame gamer boy graphic T-shirts, Lapis wears pajama bottoms and steals said lame gamer boy graphic T-shirts when Peridot isn't using them

Lapis swears like a sailor whereas Peridot is only legally allowed to say "CLOD!" And "DIRT BOMB!"

Every once in a while, they'll make each other Meep-Morp when the other is sad or had a bad day

When Peridot doesn't have access to metal so she can levitate, Lapis will carry her like a back pack or hug her close to her body like she's protecting a fine loaf of bread

Sometimes Lapis will leave little love notes on Peridot's tape recorder between log dates

After taking advice and lessons from Steven, Peridot becomes a master of healthy coping mechanisms and helps Lapis through her hard PTSD days

Peridot never lies or withholds information again after Lapis took the barn to the moon because she knows her lack of communication drove Lapis away and doesn't want to lose her a second time around

Garnet often invites Peridot and Lapis for double dates and will unfuse so Ruby and Peridot can geek out together over the reboot of Camp Pining Hearts: Wild West! while their blue gfs (wives) quietly and happily tune in

I’ve got loooots of human AU hcs but I assume you mean OG hcs so I’ll name those!! (these are just some off the top of my head new ones spawn all the time and there’s like a LOTTT)

-peridot is basically autistic cuz Rebecca basically said all the gems are neurodivergent coded, & Lapis totally has depression and PTSD that she’s recovering from (peridot being a big help)

-Because of some tweets from peri’s twitter acc during alone at sea, after the episode’s events when lapis came home peridot like comforted herr and they watched some CPH after or smth. I wrote a one shot about it actuallyy as a comfort one time while listening to rain by motty or smth

-Peridot has totally had some meltdowns or panic attacks over silly overthinking that Lapis calmed her down from by just being there or like making her touch grass

-they totally make each other touch grass when lapis is being lazy or peri’s like working on something or being an iPad kid

-lapis ‘spent time’ with peridot alot through the big alpha ball spectrometer projector shiny sparkly hallucinogenic ahh ancient artifact modern pond ball when she left

-and peri would like go in the bath to have water because it reminded her of lapis

-they go on silly little dates offscreen, they probably travel a bit (mini road trip arcs??) and have went to Funland together like once and then probably got banned lmao

-they literally learned what romance and love was from CPH and like the internet

-they don’t fuse (or fuse like laater or at their own pace) bc they believe that you don’t need to fuse to have a beautiful wonderful croissantful relationship

-lapis has totally flown peridot sometime when she felt like it. At least once, bc I saw one of the covers for the comics and idk where it was but lapis was flying peri snd it was adorableeee

-they were considering getting married for the fun of it because ruby and sapphire did it but they never really learned what it was and then they saw Connie and Steven and were like okay maybe not

-this one is a little far fetched but what if peridot saw MLP FIM and like how powerful they were and was like ‘I WANNA MAKE FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE SO I CAN GET POWERFUL NYEHEHEHE’ and that’s the reason she was suddenly like I gotta make friends with lapis (among others lol)

Hey so I've been thinking of this about Steven Universe was wondering if it was confirmed and I just missed it or not

So remember in A Single Pale Rose when steven went inside Pearl's pearl for the first time and we see all of the items she has categorised? When she goes into the 'S' section we see multiple of the spears she uses. I thought gems just kinda make their weapons on the spot? Like I don't think Amethyst's gem has hundreds of whips in it. And Pearl's were never made to fight, just to be an accessory to higher gems, therefore may not have been given a weapon like how we never see Sapphire or Peridot with a weapon (they both have powers like ice, future vision and ferrokinesis but not an actual weapom) And we also know Bismuth made weapons for the crystal gems since the before the war, is there a chance that Pearl's doesn't actually have a weapon of her own and that her sword/ spear are simply weapons that Bismuth made that she has hundreds of all kept in her pearl for her to pull out? I know it's unlikely but it's a cute idea <3

She didn’t use to curse, but after living with Peridot long enough, Peri’s foul mouth kinda rubbed off on her. Now she curses fairly casually, though not around Steven, obviously, Pearl made sure of that.

hi hi! do you have any things that non little people should be aware of when headcannoning/ drawing a character with dwarfism? is there anything that would be offensive to do when it comes to headcannon?

Hello! Whether head-cannoning or drawing people with dwarfism, a major thing to keep in mind is anatomy - it's something that a lot of artists get wrong because they usually pull from fantasy "dwarves" vs. dwarfs with the actual disability. You need to do your research when drawing us, and it's important to note it when head-cannoning.

Since I'm in love with Steven Universe right now (despite it's issues), here's an example on how to discern if a character is likely a little person, and not simply a small character.

Consider: Peridot.

She's about the height of Steven (who we know to be 13 and 4 feet tall), however the rules of the world tell us that the (alien) Gems are sized relative to their stones.

"This height is indicative of my rarity and importance!" - Period Season 3 Episode 9

So though she is short and petite, she is not a little person. (Though you could by all means still headcannon her as such)

Sadie Miller on the other hand, is human and also around Steven's size despite being five years older than him. She's a good foot shorter than her peers and is depicted using stools multiple times throughout the show. She is very clearly a little person, despite it never coming up in conversation.

I personally like to draw a clear line when headcannoning between characters that are simply small for artistic/world reasons vs. characters that actually seem to have dwarfism.

When it comes to drawing them, it's important to actively choose which type of dwarfism they have (there are hundreds of types, including skeletal dysplasia) and ensure that their anatomy is on point.

Headcannon that after era 3 started, Peridot made a discord server for all the other peridots to join and all of their usernames would be something like "Peridot 54498, Peridot 46723, Peridot 12995" And also Steven would be there

Would peridot listen to marina? In that one interview shelby said that she’d listen to like Adele and I feel like they have similarities like kinda—in some ways like they’re both very vocal. And I feel like she would listen to marina like the family jewels is literally greenqbidqbifwhiefbef I just like—guys. Does this make sense?

I also think Lapis knows how to do it right, but likes laughing at watching Peridot struggle
