War Of The Gods [Closed Starter]
@inkdreamt [Continued]
Zeus walked over to Diana, stood by her side, and touched her shoulder. "No, Diana, that was all you. The Master Bolt is a powerful weapon; even someone as strong as me can still be surprised. But since it's my primary weapon and I've always gone into battle with I'm used to it, but it can still knock me back, and you, being my daughter by blood, inherited that strength even if not all of it has fully awakened, though you will get there" Zeus said as he smiled. "Don't be hard on yourself; with proper training and guidance, you will be a force to be reckoned with but for the right cause, protecting the innocent and punishing those that would do them harm."

The Subcategories of Fantasy
As an author who loves Fantasy, I wanted to help my fellow writers understand all of the different elements that fantasy can fall under, ranging from the well-known to the specific. I figured that doing so could help other writers like myself understand exactly what sort of story they’re writing, and how these stories differ from one another. I’ll also be giving examples of these types of stories, as well as my own thoughts on the different genres at the end.
What is Fantasy?
Fantasy in its simplest term, is any form of media that diverges from the mundane reality of our ordinary everyday world in one facet or another. A story does not need to have magic, or dragons, or princesses to be called a fantasy story. While those are common motifs, in truth, all it takes to be considered fantasy is to not adhere to the real world in one form or another. Good Omens is a fantasy story, despite having no dragons or princesses anywhere. A Song of Ice and Fire has dragons and princesses, but magic is scarce and seldom ever seen. The Song of the Sea has a lot of magic, but a lot fewer dragons.
MEDIEVAL FANTASY
The story takes place in a fantastical world of the author’s design with a medieval or renaissance inspired setting, world view, and/or political structure. Renaissance Fantasy doesn’t really tend to exist on its own, so any setting with Renaissance aspects tends to just get lumped in with Medieval Fantasy. I don’t even really need to explain this one to you. It’s the most common subgenre of fantasy. A medieval fantasy does not have to be set in the real medieval period of Earth’s history, but rather, a medieval fantasy is any story set in a fantastical world that makes use of a medieval-based society as its setting.
HISTORICAL FANTASY
This is a story in which fantastical elements are included in real world historical settings. This is any historical setting where there’s a King of England but also a dragon or trolls to deal with. There’s almost this sort of unspoken rule that any story set in Ancient Greece will inevitably be Historical Fantasy. Arthurian Fantasy, Mythology Fantasy, and Fable Fantasy could all be considered subcategories of Historical Fantasy, since most instances of these genres would be classified as Historical Fantasy, though there are exceptions. As an example, Once Upon a Time and the Fables comics series are both Fable Fantasies, but are not Historical Fantasy. Likewise, Rick Riordian’s Percy Jackson-verse is clearly Mythology Fantasy, but is not Historical Fantasy. Classic examples of Historical Fantasy would include tales like Beowulf, The Journey to the West, and Robin Hood. It’s worth mentioning that technically, a story is not Historical Fantasy if it’s set in the era it was written in. However, the Illiad was set in Mycenaean Greece, Robin Hood’s rivalry with Prince John was a later addition to the folklore, and most Arthurian mythos was penned long after the supposed real world figure might have lived and died. But, any story set in a contemporary modernity, such as Percy Jackson, will eventually become Historical Fiction as time moves forward, though it clearly was not written to be that way.
MYTHOLOGY FANTASY
Angels, Demons, Gods, the Underworld, mythological heroes, this is a supercategory that encompasses everything from The Chronicles of Narnia to Supernatural, as well as Good Omens, American Gods, Sandman, Rise of the Guardians, Percy Jackson, Paradise Lost, Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, Smite: Battleground of the Gods, Teen Titans, Dante’s Inferno, and Lore Olympus. Some people get squeemish about lumping Judeo-Christian ideologies in with Mythology (even though it is a mythology) such that the Christian sub-category sometimes gets called Religious Fantasy or Bible Fantasy. But regardless, this is the category for any sort of fantastical work in which supernatural forces are at work. Some divide this section differently. For instance, some will say that since faeries are part of Irish mythology that faeries count as part of mythology fantasy, while others will argue that this is more for the religious aspect of fantasy, with things like vampires and faeries relegated to a subcategory of more generic fantasy creatures.
ARTHURIAN FANTASY
The story revolves around Arthurian mythos. Whether it’s set in the real world of Britain, a fantasy counterpart to Britain, or in some author-created setting, King Arthur is still King Arthur. Sometimes, though very rarely, Arthurian stories have little to no magic, fusing this subgenre with Historical Fiction and not Historical Fantasy. While Arthurian mythos has evolved over the years, the big players are practically household names. Most people are unfamiliar with Sir Galehaut and Sir Dinadin, but almost everyone recognizes Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin, and all the other big players in Arthurian folklore. However, Arthurian myth effectively spans the entire breadth of the Medieval Period, first being mentioned in the Annaels Cambriae which places Arthur in 6th Century Britain, and his stories continued to be written until Le Mort d’Arthur in 1485. Keep in mind, the Medieval Period is from 476 - 1500, and Arthurian mythos spans about 800-900 of those 1,024 years. Due to his story spanning so much time, many elements of Arthur’s story have been forgotten or quietly put aside over time. Try to tell someone that Arthur put every newborn born in the month of may on a boat and sank it to prevent the prophecy of Mordred from coming true, and you’ll probably get a bunch of horrified looks from people who swear up and down that the Good King Arthur would never do anything so cruel. Even other elements shifted around. Ask who mordred’s parents are, and you could argue Arthur, Morgan le Fey, Morgause, Anna, King Lot, and more. Depending on how deep down the rabbit hole you’re willing to go, you can read stories of King Arthur fighting his nephew Oberon for control of Fairyland. Arthurian mythos, like mythology fantasy, tends to get the curbside drive-by approach. People repeat the elements they’ve heard a million times, while never dusting off any of the lesser known elements that would give the story a breath of fresh air.
FABLE FANTASY
Technically, all Arthurian Fantasy falls under this umbrella. Fable Fantasy is the genre term for fantasy based on fables, folk tales, and folkloric figures. Robin Hood, Reynard the Fox, Fairy Tales, Mother Goose, Baba Yaga, if it has persisted through generations of storytelling, and has had a lasting impact on the cultures that know the story, it can be considered a Fable Fantasy. Any story that pulls from these elements can likewise be considered Fable Fantasy because they are pulling from these fabled origins. So, a retelling of Beauty and the Beast is a Fable Fantasy... unless the storytelling has twisted the story so much that it’s no longer in the Fantasy genre. For more variations of this genre, well-known pop culture characters, much like Robin Hood and Fairytale characters, can be considered Fable Fantasy. So, Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, Santa Claus, the Grim Reaper, Peter Pan, the Phantom of the Opera, the Wizard of Oz, and other commonly retold folk characters can be thought of as more contemporary Fable fantasies. As such, both Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera can be considered Fable Fantasy musicals, as well as the more obvious Into the Woods. Once Upon a Time and the Fable comic series are both modern Fable Fantasy stories. Not all Fable Fantasy narratives are retellings of classic folktales. Peter Rabbit, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and The Wizard of Oz have all become widely considered folkloric staples, despite being written in the 19th and 20th centuries. Over the Garden Wall, a Cartoon Network miniseries from 2014, is considered to be a modern fairy tale, despite not being an adaptation of any other story, but instead using the tropes and ideas common to traditional old-school fairy tales. When they enter the public domain, I suspect that Dr. Seuss’ characters will likewise be effectively Fable Fantasy, well-known characters that see use and reuse over and over again in other media. Shrek and Disenchantment take a satirical approach to Fable Fantasy, poking fun of Disney and other fairytale narratives and tropes.
HISTORICAL ROMANTICISM
This setting often goes hand-in-hand with Arthurian Fantasy and Fairy Tales. This is any story that romanticizes and glorifies life in a historical setting. Popular variants include Medieval Romanticism, stories which romanticize medieval settings, Victorian Romanticism or Edwardian Romanticism, for stories that romanticize the time period between 1837-1913, and Period Romanticism, which is more of a blanket term that glorifies the eras popular with Period movies, namely, the 19th century, but sometimes earlier as well. Full of handsome princes, fair damsels, large palace-like castles, and knightly codes of honor, historically inaccurrate period gowns, debutante balls, and steamy Jane Austen-style love affairs, this story paints the past with the most optimistic and flattering image possible. Everything is flowery, poetic, and awe-inspiring. This is the type of setting Sansa Stark thought she was in at the start of A Game of Thrones before G.R.R Martin pulled the rug out from under her and revealed Westeros to be a Cynical Low Fantasy. By the very virtue of the company’s child-friendly marketing, Most Disney movies, and by extension, most movies set in the past aimed at children can likewise be categorized as Historical Romanticism, as they brush the darker side of history under the rug. The Princess Bride, Bridgerton, Don Bluth’s Anastasia, and most versions of Robin Hood and Arthurian mythos fall into this category. For contrast, Downton Abbey is not Edwardian Romanticism even though it tries to make life in the 1910s look glamorous, it’s also not afraid to blatantly point out the economic and socio-political issues that were going in in the world at the time. Downton Abbey does not sugar coat the darker side of history, and can therefore not be considered Historical Romanticism.
HISTORICAL CYNICISM
The exact opposite, Historical Cynicism is the name I give to settings that use the trope “The Dung Ages”. Like Historical Romanticism, the most popular variant of this category is Medieval Cynicism. These settings seek to make life in historical time periods look as miserable and depressing as possible. They are designed to make life seem bleak, undesirable, and disgusting. Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Disenchantment take a comedic approach to this, while A Song of Ice and Fire gives a more Epic Fantasy take. Sweeney Todd makes life in Victorian London look positively putrid, and that’s without the cannibalism subplot. The Witcher games seem to merge Medieval Cynicism with Dark Fantasy and Horror Fantasy. This subgenre hinges on Dark Fantasy, but the two are distinct from one another. Expect plenty of plagues, muted color pallets, a cruel aristocracy that enjoys crushing the lower classes under its heel, and mud or dung on everything.
HIGH FANTASY
Magic and fantastical elements are abound in this setting. Expect wizards, dragons, fantastical races, and more. Very frequently overlaps with Epic Fantasy, though they are different. The Lord of the Rings is classic High Fantasy. Most Dungeons & Dragons settings are also High Fantasy, as is The Legend of Zelda. Avatar: the Last Airbender is a High Fantasy Wuxia show, though Legend of Korra veers more toward Historical Fantasy, Steampunk, and Magitech Fantasy with its 1920s Shanghai meets New York City hub location of Republic City. The Elder Scrolls is also a High Fantasy, with plenty of elven races, the Beast Races, and star signs that actually impact those born under them. Each province has its own sort of vibe or subgenre, with High Rock being more Medieval Romanticism while Skyrim is more Dark Fantasy or Medieval Cynicism, but as a whole, Tamriel falls under the High Fantasy umbrella.
LOW FANTASY
A medieval setting where magic and fantastical elements are rare, if not nonexistent. A Song of Ice and Fire is an excellent example. Magic is real and does exist, but it only rarely comes into play. Magic is extremely scarce, and most people one might meet are humans. Even the sight of someone casting the simplest spell is so rare in Westeros that it’s practically unheard of, and the few supernatural elements that do exist in the setting live far out into the wilderness, rarely being seen by people. It’s quite rare to find completely fictional fantasy settings with no magic whatsoever, but they do exist.
EPIC FANTASY
This is any fantasy story on an epic scale. I’m talking well over 50+ named characters. A Song of Ice and Fire, The Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings, all of these are Epic Fantasy. Yes, these stories usually end up with long book series and a lot of words behind them, but I am defining a genre, not a reading level. Epic Fantasy is about scope, not page length. Common sights in Epic Fantasy are grand battles, multiple POVs, world-spanning events, extremely high stakes, very powerful players in the narrative, and The Final Battle Between Good and Evil.
QUEST FANTASY
Any fantasy work which is primarily driven by The Epic Quest. Often overlaps with Chosen One narratives. Lord of the Rings, Eragon, The Legend of Zelda, Avatar: the Last Airbender, and the Percy Jackson books are all examples of Quest Fantasy. The bulk of the narrative is centered on The Journey and the trouble the heroes run into along the way, or are otherwise all about The Adventure, not the destination. Our band of heroes have a goal given to them and the story is focused on following the heroes on their journey. However, this is not strictly a Chosen One category. The Legend of Korra is a Chosen One Fantasy, but is not a Quest Fantasy because Korra’s main objective changes every season. Percy Jackson toes the line due to the Oracle’s prophecies, but I wouldn’t call him a Chosen One because his birth wasn’t written in the stars or anything. He just happens to be a child of Poseidon and at the center of the story. If you switched him out for Nico di Angelo or Jason Grace, the story is still functional. In Lord of the Rings, Aragorn is the True King, but Frodo is the protagonist, so I wouldn’t call Lord of the Rings a Chosen One Fantasy either. This can also tip into other genres. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a Quest Fantasy. The entire premise of the movie is Arthur and his knights questing for the Holy Grail. Likewise, The Princess Bride is all about Wesley’s quest to rescue Princess Buttercup from Prince Humperdink. Treasure Planet is a steampunk quest fantasy telling the story of Jim’s search for Flint’s treasure, where the journey there is the bulk of the story. Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas is a quest fantasy with elements of Historical Fantasy and Mythology Fantasy all about Sinbad’s perilous voyage to the edge of the world to save his friend’s life.
DARK FANTASY
It’s like normal Fantasy, but bleaker and darker. The Witcher and Skyrim are good examples of Dark Fantasy, where monsters roam the wilderness, and people live in fear of the unknown beyond the safety of their villages. The general tone is more cynical, desolate, or hopeless. Some Dark Fantasy is more about just being gloomy or creepy. The movies Labyrinth and Dark Crystal are two good examples of a Dark Fantasy that’s less bleak as they are weird, yet still dark. The Black Cauldron is a perfect example of a Dark Fantasy with a dreary and macabre aesthetic paired with a genuinely horrifying necromancer villain. Pan’s Labyrinth is another good example of a Dark Fantasy. Over the Garden Wall and A Tale so Dark and Grimm are both Dark Fantasy stories as well as Fable Fantasies, reveling in the darker aspects of Grimm fairy tales.
HORROR FANTASY
It’s like Dark Fantasy, but scarier. Expect there to be horrifying monsters unlike any seen on earth. Your protagonist is probably either hunting or being hunted by something horrible. Either a monster is trying to kill them, the world is trying to kill them, the gods or demons are trying to kill them, or magic is trying to kill them. Again, The Witcher is a great example of Horror Fantasy. Geralt is a hunter of monsters, and often fights things like Werewolves, ghouls, wraiths, and lesheys. Red Riding Hood (2011) is a great example of a vaguely medieval Horror Fantasy. Depending on where you stop the line at what’s horror, what’s fantasy, and what’s Horror Fantasy, you could justify just about anything as Horror Fantasy. From The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim with its undead Draugr and vampire clans, to Resident Evil VII with its vampires, or even certain Scooby-Doo! media (though Scooby-Doo! is certainly on the mild end of horror.)
PARANORMAL FANTASY
Unlike Dark Fantasy or Horror Fantasy, Paranormal Fantasy takes horror elements and spins them to be more romantic. This is where you’d slot in romantic or atmospheric ghost stories. Tales of witches and vampires in a macabre setting where they’re not the villains. The Addams Family fits the Paranormal Fantasy, as does Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow, The Phantom of the Opera, Hotel Transylvania, most Scooby-Doo! media, Beetlejuice, the Halloweentown movies, The Nightmare Before Christmas, or Hocus Pocus. Basically, if it could be a child-friendly Halloween story, or was made by Tim Burton, it’s probably Gothic Fantasy. I guess you could also call this Monster Fantasy, Gothic Fantasy, or Spooky Fantasy.
CONTMPORARY FANTASY
The setting is medieval with castles and princesses, but there’ll also be modern conveniences or nods to pop culture in the land and setting. Dave the Barbarian is a good example of this. The royal family are all barbarians (which basically just means vague warriors that wear fur loincloths), but then they also have malls, and Dave made a megaphone out of a squirrel, some string, and a megaphone. Shrek does this too, especially in Far Far Away with nods to Starbucks and Burger King, among other modern franchises. Disenchantment also uses this as a basis for comedy. Typically, Contemporary Fantasy only uses modern conveniences in a medieval setting as more or less sight gags, punchlines, or to poke fun of corporations and consumerism. These are also the fantasy stories most likely to reexamine tropes and shine a critical light on the genre, whether by showing the farm-boy turned king being royally inept, the mental issues caused by locking the princess in a tower for years of her life, or how quickly princesses married the first man that came along without so much as a conversation beforehand.
URBAN FANTASY
The wizard has a smartphone, the prince has a Grindr, and the city watch patrol the streets on motorcycles. A standard fantasy world has come to the modern age, with skyscrapers, internet, cars, and cellphones. The familiar world gives the audience a firmer foot to ground themselves in this sort of story, compared to something set in the past, but it has its own hurdles. Namely, a modern world still needs a rich history. You also need a story that can’t be solved with a gun and an internet connection. Urban Fantasy is a very broad genre, from Hidden World Fantasy like Percy Jackson or Harry Potter, to Merged World Fantasy like RWBY. There’s also some head scratchers like the Warriors Cats books. It’s definitely Urban Fantasy. A cat society living in the forest is a fantasy, and the story is set in our modern contemporary world. But labeling the series beyond Urban Fantasy is where it gets tricky. Isekai borders on Urban Fantasy, as the magical overlaps with the modern world. The Magic Treehouse and the Arthur Spiderwick Chronicles are two great examples of Urban Fantasy in children’s literature. Goosebumps is Urban Horror Fantasy.
ISEKAI FANTASY
These are stories in which an ordinary human (or group of humans) are transported to another world in order to learn a lesson, grow, and come back home wiser, stronger, and ready to face the problems they ran away from. The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan and Wendy, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, as well as movies like Stardust, Coraline, and Spirited Away, or TV shows like Over the Garden Wall, The Owl House, and Amphibia are all prime examples of this type of story. The Chronicles of Narnia is an excellent example because as the series goes on, the older Pevensee children stop needing to go back to Narnia. By Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Peter and Susan have learned all they need to from the other world, and don’t go back, leaving only Edmund and Lucy to go with their cousin instead. Because their arcs are over, they have no reason to return.
ROMANCE FANTASY
It’s a romance novel with supernatural elements. Usually, it’s a human falling in love with something inhuman, which we often call Paranormal Romance. However, this can also include stories of a fairy falling in love with a dwarf, so there’s a wider net here. This isn’t just a story with a romantic subplot, this is your Romeo and Juliet type love stories. Your Beauty and the Beast retellings. The romance is the main plot, and the supernatural elements simply make the romance more exciting or the problems of the couple more entangled in cultural baggage. Obviously, Twilight is a popular example, as is The Cruel Prince, The Captive Prince, and Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay.
MAGITECH FANTASY
This is when a fantasy setting has magic-powered technology. The guardians and Divine Beasts from Breath of the Wild are a fantastic example of Magitech in a medieval fantasy setting, as are the steam-powered automatons of the Dwemmer in The Elder Scrolls. The Legend of Korra sort of fits here. The world of Avatar has advanced to include airplanes, cars, and radios, none of which are powered directly by bending, but benders do work in power plants, performing lightning bending to generate electricity. It’s certainly a middle ground between steampunk and magitech fantasy. However, the world doesn’t have to necessarily include technology, any setting where magic is a power source for anything can work. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is a great example of Magitech Fantasy. Eco is a natural magical resource that give magical powers and effects. So, having doors that open when exposed to the electrical energy of blue eco makes sense. And while it’s never stated, Jak II has many automatic doors in Haven City that may very well run on an electric power grid fueled by blue eco veins. But eco largely gets dropped in the sequel games in favor of guns, though the guns themselves may actually be powered by eco as well. So it’s hard to say. RWBY surprisingly fits into Magitech Fantasy. Like Eco, Dust is a magical natural resource that can be used to create magical effects. The world is full of airships, shape-changing weapons, bullets and other weapons being infused with dust to give them magical effects, and Penny, a definitely real girl.
GASLAMP FANTASY
This is what happens when Steampunk has just enough fantasy elements to land in the Fantasy section. Gaslamp Fantasy is any fantasy story set in the era of gaslamps, while still incorporating fantastical elements. Dracula, Springheel Jack, Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Sherlock Holmes vs Dracula, basically, as long as it’s set in a Victorian setting and has supernatural elements, it counts as Gaslamp Fantasy. However, it’s definitely one of the less popular subgeneres, and I couldn’t really name any others.
WUXIA
A fantasy setting that focuses more on East Asian history, folklore, and mythology to craft its setting. Wuxia is a broad term, including everything from Spirited Away to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Dragonball. However, often times in fantasy, European-inspired regions are complicated and diverse, while Asian-inspired regions are homogenizing, if not orientalist. We can differentiate Irish, Scottish, and Welsh folklore from English, but somehow, not treating all Asian cultures like they’re the same is too taxing for some writers. So, if you’re going to tackle writing Wuxia Fantasy, do your homework, try to make the cultures thorough and intricate, and don’t profess yourself an expert on another person’s culture if you’re not Asian yourself.

Meet the Heroes of Disney Heroes (Part 1)
Hey there folks!
If any of you have checked out my Archive of Our Own account lately, you've probably seen "The Great Fanfic Showcase".
It was what the name suggested. A showcase for some of my upcoming fanfics.
And among those upcoming fics, one of them was a name that you've definitely hear me mention before plenty of times.
That name is.....
youtube
Yep!
I'm making an actual fanfiction series based on the short-lived Disney franchise!
This has been an idea for mine's for the last five years.
But it ended up always getting pushed to the back for the sake of a more interesting concept.
But now, I'm finally ready to tackle it!
Especially since I'm unfortunately cancelling Disney Mirrorverse: The Series, due to my winding interest in the game, and more notably of all, the recent announcement of its impending shut down this December.
As for what the series would be about.....
The story goes like this: Hades, being fed up with his constant losses, decided to form an alliance of various fellow Disney villains, in the hopes of helping him achieve his goals of overthrowing Zeus and The Olympians, finally claiming Mount Olympus for himself and rule the cosmos.
And in return, he's helping them achieve their goals as well.
Merlin, thanks to his foresight, foresaw this plan and in response to this, with the help of Mickey Mouse, forms an alliance of the greatest heroes in the Disney-Verse.
The alliance itself consists of the heroes from: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, The Sword in the Stone, The Jungle Book, Robin Hood, The Rescuers, The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, The Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, Meet the Robinsons, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana, Raya and the Stupid-Ass, Unfunny, Annoying-Ass Dragon, and Wish.
And so to promote the series, I've decided to a start a multi-part series, introducing each of the heroes (in chronological order by their respective films).
Also, if you're wondering when the series will premiere, it'll be during the holiday season.
And one last thing.
My ideal art-style for this series would be done by ArtFrenzyBoris.
His art-style just screams action! And it given that this series gonna be pretty action heavy, this is just a match made in heaven.
In addition to that, his style is just incredibly expressive. And I always love seeing art-styles allowing their characters to be as lively as possible.
I'd honestly kill to see any of the Disney characters in this style.
Plus, let's be real, Sisu would look FAR better in this series than she does in her usual style.
But enough jabs. Let's talk about our heroes, starting with....

Cut off is here because this is a long post and nobody wants to scroll past it.
Joan
Full name: Ioana, goes by Joan (no surname)
Fandom: The Old Guard (2020)
Faceclaim: Isidora Goreshter
Their main tags: Joan, Joan vibes
Fics/blurbs available: the Joan ‘verse (AO3), her post of origin, Nile dreams of her, home after a bad day, her relationship with the rest of the guard, Joan learns she’s immortal
Character bio/premise: Joan (born Ioana) died in an earthquake in the 1400s, in what would one day be Romania, and somehow did not stay dead. The Old Guard (then made up of Andy, Joe, Nicky and Quynh) were there in the aftermath, trying to help, and because Joan met them before they could dream of each other, she doesn’t know they’re immortal like her, and they don’t know she’s a new immortal. Some 400 years later, Joan stumbles upon a newly immortal Booker and despite befriending each other for a brief time, once again they part ways without realizing what the other is.
After roughly 600 years of immortality, Joan is living a comfortable but lonely life, still unaware there are others like her. At least, until she dreams about Nile getting slashed through the throat. The dreams refuse to go away, and Joan manages to track down the young woman - and in the process, finds out not only is there another immortal like her, there’s a whole group of them, and all of them know each other. In an AU where Booker didn’t betray the team, most of her story is just her and the guard getting to know each other, trying to figure out how to make this new dynamic work, and Joan finding a place after centuries of not having anyone.
Joan is aroace.
Hestia
Full name: Hestia
Fandom: Thor movies, MCU
Faceclaim: Freida Pinto
Their tags: Hestia, Hestia and Thor (for shipping purposes)
Fics/blurbs available: first post explaining her concept, Light, however sorry they are (AO3), I thought you were mine, Hestia and her relationship with the Odinson boys, “what if” episode au, Loki series meets What If AU Hestia, what Hestia thinks of the avengers, Hestia is kidnapped
Character bio/premise: Based on the goddess from Greek mythology, Hestia is the eldest daughter and princess of Olympus, another alien civilization like Asgard. The eldest daughter, but not the ruler, Hestia has taken care of the kingdom in her own way - tending to the fires and protecting the home and family - ever since they overthrew their tyrannical and abusive father centuries ago and created a kingdom of peace and prosperity - with the exception of their rivalry with Asgard. In an attempt to avoid war between their kingdoms, Odin and Zeus arrange a marriage between Thor and Hestia. While both of them range from reluctant but willing to outright reluctant, they are married and Hestia comes to live on Asgard. She is quiet and some would say "meek" or "weak", and no one expects her to get along with the brash and bold Prince Thor. Surprisingly, her calm demeanor and hidden strength makes it easy to form a friendship with him.
While dealing with culture clashes and coming to understand her new home and her new family, Hestia and Thor become friends, and then (slowly for Hestia, very quickly for Thor) fall in love. They remain happily married for centuries - up until the events of Thor 1 take place, followed by the rest of the MCU, making their lives a whole lot more complicated.
Hestia is asexual biromantic.
Marianne
Full name: Marianne Ouellet (maiden name/preferred name), Marianne Schulman (legal name)
Fandom: X-Men prequels (First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse) (Dark Phoenix does not exist on this blog)
Faceclaim: Clemence Poesy
Their tags: Marianne, Marianne Ouellet
Fics/blurbs available: Ethereal (AO3), a little fic about her and her husband, full character profile, text post edits, a little ‘cover’ I made for the fic
Character bio/premise: Born in 1931 in Montreal, moving to the States when she was 19, a single mother to a happy 12-year-old, widow of five years, and owner of a local used bookstore for 12 years, Marianne lives a hectic but normal life. She keeps her store running, her son safe and happy, and is happy to "mom friend" the kids around the neighbourhood. It's a normal existence - up until Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr basically break into her store, tell her they know she has telekinesis, and ask her to save the world with them and other mutants like her.
While she initially refuses their offer, she later changes her mind, needing to keep her son safe. When she joins the other mutants, she finds herself joining a community she didn't know she needed, becoming the unofficial Team Mom of the group, and facing emotional issues she had pushed down for years.
Marianne is bisexual.
Kris
Full name: Kristina Maria Stark
Fandom: Iron Man movies, MCU (canon divergent after Avengers)
Faceclaim: Olivia Cooke (young Olivia Cooke - I've had her so long, I've seen her faceclaim age with her)
Their tags: Kris, Kris Stark, scarlet girlfriends (for shipping purposes)
Fics/blurbs available: an ask explaining her character, “You saved my life” wandaxkris fic, short krisxwanda fic, “what if” episode au, what Kris thinks of the avengers, Kris vs Alicent Hightower venn diagram
Character bio/premise: As the beloved daughter of Tony Stark and heiress to Stark Industries, Kris basically has everything she could ever want, and she loves it. Until she and her dad get kidnapped by terrorists and are trapped in a cave for three months. After returning home, forever changed by the experience, her dad wants to go out and make sure Stark Industry weapons are wiped from the planet, while Kris just wants to forget it ever happened and return to her normal life. It takes being terrorized by her honourary grandfather and her father creating a supersuit and becoming a public superhero to realize that their lives are never getting back to normal. It takes her father nearly dying less than a year later for Kris to take up the mantle as another superhero, pushing her life as far from normal as it gets.
Kris is a lesbian and dating Wanda.
Rose
Full name: Rose, codename Venom
Fandom: Power Rangers: Jungle Fury
Faceclaim: Brittany O’Grady
Their tags: Rose
Fics/blurbs available: a whole post I made about her premise, her choice of animal, her having a breakdown, what happens in Ghost of a Chance (AO3)
Character bio/premise: 10,000 years ago, Rose - abandoned as a child, then abused and tormented by her Pai Zhuq master - chooses to join the evil Dai Shi, wanting revenge on humanity for the pain she’s suffered. She’s made into a double agent, spying on the humans for Dai Shi. It goes well, until the war is won by the Pai Zhuq and Dai Shi is sealed away. To keep her safe, Dai Shi turns Rose to stone, and she waits for 10,000 years before he returns and tasks her with being a double agent once more, this time spying on the power rangers who threaten his attempts to take over the world.
It’s supposed to be an easy mission. She sews discord in the group, avoids getting too close, and reports back to her Lord with information to destroy the rangers. But slowly, the safety and kindness of her fake life starts to feel more welcoming than the cruelty she had accepted before, and Rose suddenly finds herself at a crossroads - to choose revenge and a life she’s been told is the only one she deserves, or her new friends and a life she thinks she actually deserves.
Ryoko
Full name: Ryoko
Fandom: Original content
Faceclaim: no official one yet, but either Li Bingbing or Fan Bingbing would be good, as both have roles with white hair (The Forbidden Kingdom and The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom respectively)
Their tags: Ryoko, Ryoko and Ten, Ten and Ryoko (relationship tags)
Fics/blurbs available: human vs god appearance, commissioned art!, Forgotten, Never Stopped, All Trussed Up, Traveling Companion, Ryoko and Ten being silly, Ryoko’s healing abilities, Ryoko’s immortality, kidnapped (humor), NFWMB, Ryoko needs to sleep, Ten is insecure and Ryoko’s a good friend
Character bio/premise: Ryoko was a human woman once - about 10,000 years ago. When she discovered how to achieve immortality, though, she chased after it and became the first god in her world - the god of war, fire, death and the sun. Many others followed in her footsteps, and for thousands of years, they all ruled the world as a pantheon, with her as their ruler, the Queen of the Heavens. Flashfoward to present day, millennia later, and she’s the only god left in the world after she killed the rest of them. She wanders the world, alone as she has been for centuries now. At least, until she meets Ten, who wants to be a god and knows she’s the only one who can help him achieve his goal. Although she knows it didn’t end well last time, she finally agrees to help Ten, thinking that by helping them, she’ll be able to find a way to end her own immortality. The two of them set out on an adventure and despite her best efforts, she becomes too close to Ten, despite knowing she’s using them for her own selfish purpose.
Ten
Full name: Ten (no last name as of yet)
Fandom: Original content
Faceclaim: None yet, if you have any suggestions let me know!
Their tags: Ten, Ryoko and Ten,Ten and Ryoko (relationship tags)
Fics/blurbs available: Traveling companion, premise, goals and some background of their world, Never Stopped, All Trussed Up, grudges, piccrew appearance, Ten is a history nerd and Ryoko is unhelpful, Ryoko and Ten being silly, Ten is insecure and Ryoko’s a good friend
Character bio/premise: Uses he/they pronouns. Raised in a small farming town, and the eldest living child of five, Ten was always told by his parents - and everyone else outside of his siblings - he would never amount to anything, that he was a waste of space. Desperate to prove everyone wrong, they moved to the city to find work and support their family while also trying to find ways to achieve more, to learn and study their passion - history and legends of the world - and become more than what they are. Eventually, he crosses paths with The legendary icon of their world, the only living god - Ryoko, queen of the heavens. Knowing this is the only way they can prove everyone wrong, they convince her to show them how to achieve godhood, and to their surprise, she agrees. They set out on a grand journey together, and despite all the terrifying legends of her and her own personality, Ten finds himself growing closer to the woman, unaware of the secrets she’s hiding from him.
Ten is nb and uses he/they pronouns.
Cara
Full name: Cara Anderson (chosen name), Carina Alvarez (legal name)
Fandom: MCU (canon divergent after Avengers)
Faceclaim: Odette Annable
Their tags: Cara, Cara Anderson, my sister’s ocs
Fics/blurbs available: None
Character bio/premise: Raised by HYDRA to be an assassin, Cara never knew anything but abuse and cruelty, except for the love of her twin, Quinn. That all ended when she realized just how fucked up HYDRA was and made plans to run away with Quinn. Those plans came to an end when SHIELD attacked their HYDRA facilities and Quinn died in the attack. Grieving, but ready to leave HYDRA behind, Cara agrees to join SHIELD (not knowing HYDRA and SHIELD are one and the same) and become an agent for them after being given a second chance by Clint Barton, as well as Natasha Romanoff, Nick Fury, and Maria Ross (who would eventually become her best friend). Years go by and she’s definitely one of their best agents, although she still has a lot of unprocessed trauma and anger. Things get a little better when she finds a family with the Avengers. Things get a lot better when she meets Sam Wilson, whose good heart and entire character is a bright spot in her stormy life.
Cara is bisexual.
Valerie
Full name: Valerie Jenkins
Fandom: MCU (canon divergent after Avengers)
Faceclaim: Amanda Seyfried
Their tags: Valerie, my sister’s ocs
Fics/blurbs available: None
Character bio/premise: Valerie is just a kid when her parents die and she’s sent to live with her aunt. She’s still just a kid when her aunt is in a car accident and ends up in a coma and Valerie is sent to live in foster care, before running away and living on the streets. She’s still just a kid when she discovers she’s a mutant with the ability to control metal. For years she lives as a drifter, but eventually she’s able to get off the streets and make ends meet as a waitress in NYC - up until aliens attack. Using her powers to fight, she’s discovered by the Avengers and SHIELD and recruited, and ends up living in the Avengers tower with the rest of them. After years of not having anyone, she’s finally found herself a space space and a family - a family that gets even bigger when the Maximoff twins show up and she finds herself growing closer to Pietro.

GENERAL.
NAMES:
Bet'anya Agriosa ( Atlantean goddess of Wrath, Misery & the Hunt ) ; also called 'Bethany'
previous life as Bathymaas ( Egyptian goddess of Justice)
in her modern reincarnated verse she goes by 'Bethania Al-Galal'
NICKNAMES: Bet, Beth, Princess of Thebes DOB: June 25, 9527 B.C PHYSICAL FEATURES: thick dark hair, golden-green eyes, tawny skin, lean-athletic build HEIGHT: 5ft 6in tall PARENTS: Symfora & Set FC: Dina Denoire LANGUAGES SPOKEN: Egyptian/Arabic, Atlantean , Greek, Latin , English, French BACKGROUND:
Bet'anya / Bethany is the reincarnation of Bathymaas, an Egyptian goddess of justice, though for millennia she had no memory of that life after losing her love Aricles. Reborn now as an Atlantean goddess she and other gods of the Atlantean Pantheon are tasked with finding a god named Apostolos. Along the way however while in mortal form ( a blind young woman) she falls in love with the young handsome peasant soldier named Hector, who she much later discovers is actually the General Prince Styxx of Didymos, Commander of the Stygian Omada. The same young man who she waged war against when he warred against her city-state of Atlantis unknowing that he was her beloved Hector.
She eventually learned of Styxx's identity and told him that she was Set's daughter, but did not tell him she was a goddess. She planned to give up her godhood and live as a mortal with him as she was pregnant with their child, but just before their wedding, another Atlantean goddess- Apollymi , mother to the hunted Apostolos, obliterated the entire Atlantean pantheon in rage of what was done to her son.
Bethany and the other Atlantean gods existed as non-sentient statues in the island of Katoteros, the Atlantean equivalent of Olympus, for eleven thousand years. Bethany and Styxx's son was miraculously spared by Apollymi, and the child was placed in another woman to be delivered and raised.
The Atlantean gods were eventually reawakened but Bethany was not because both halves of her heart were missing. Her father, Set, had removed and hidden one half after Aricles died and Bathymaas went on a vengeful rampage; the other half died and was reborn with Styxx. The jealous greek goddess Leto had now stolen Set's half and used this to summon Bathymaas and trick her into killing Styxx. When Styxx was reborn yet again, now with his Chthonian powers that were denied to him at birth, the couple was finally reunited and Bethany was whole. They delightedly discovered their son had survived and was still alive going by the name Urian and later their second son, Aricles, was born just nine months later.
Modern /Reincarnation verse:
In which Bethany (refer to main bio) did die in the attack on the Atlantean gods and was later reborn in modern as Bethania Al-Galal. Set once again fathered her with an especially bright Egyptian-Greek historian woman who had no idea that her one night stand had been with an Egyptian god. Bethania is doted on by her mother and her step-father who loves her dearly as his own tragedy however seems forever destined to haunt all her lives as she loses both her parents in a terrible train crash in her late teens. Determined to continue their work, Bethania goes on to become an archeologist in the cut throat world of antiquities in Egypt.
One day, however, she found herself pick pocketed by a young boy who stole a small artifact off her person, she managed to catch up to him trying to sell it to a vendor in exchange for food. Moved by the state of him and his clear desperation for food she pays him for her own artifact and buys him food to eat. The eight year old, Gale Urian Peters, eventually confesses that he ran away from an orphanage, that his parents, an English man and Greek mother, had been murdered and that he had no other family. Knowing just what that was like she offers him a job as her assistant with room, board, food and pay and he delightedly accepts.
They immediately become exceptionally close and quickly slip into that of mother & son, referring to each other as such. Now Bethania (26) with her right hand & son , Gale (10), are one of Egypt's best upcoming archeologists earning more than plenty of rivals and enemies in every corner of Cairo with how eerie both are able to discover ancient sites with relative ease.

in honor of femslash february do you have any super horny gay book recs for mE?
Of COURSE!!!!! I hope you don't mind me posting this in honor of Femslash! February!!!!
I shall recommend:
Queen Takes Rose by Katee Robert. A modern Sleeping Beauty retelling! With BDSM and sex club antics! Maleficent and Aurora fall in love! I believe this is available in audio form and uhhhhhhh Kate Robert is typically............ Very explicit. The entire world of this series is a bunch of Disney retellings in which the villains and the villains fall in love, and everyone is bi and everyone is kinky.
If you don't mind a bit of mff throupledom, The Sea Witch, also by Katee Robert, is an Ariel/Ursula/Eric romance. Her throuples are always FULLY involved, so it's not this thing where all of the attention is on the guy. The women are together.
Additionally, from what I remember Jasmine and Megara fuck in Desperate Measures (which is a Jafar/Jasmine book) and Aurora and Belle fuck in The Beast (which is a Gaston/Beast/Belle book).
I don't think it'll be out in time for Femslash February (Goodreads says it's due March 1, womp womp) but she also has a novella coming out in her Dark Olympus series, which is a modern Greek mythology verse. It's called Stone Heart, and it's gonna be Calypso/Medusa.
One thing I think you'll also kinda appreciate about Katee Robert is that she's discussed at length the fact that she gets constant requests to write m/m (sole m/m; again, the men are always together in her mmf throuple books) from people suggesting that w/w is gross. And she's like "fuck you, I'll just write more w/w then".
I would also recommend The Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics, which is a looooooovely and romaaaantic and hooot f/f historical romance. A widow is left with this French astronomy text after her husband dies, and who is to translate it but a hot lady academic???
Waite also wrote The Care and Feeding of Waspish Widows, which is another f/f historical romance about a bitchy widow and a lady beekeper who is there to fix her bee problem, and maybe other problems as well. I think there's a third book published in this series (called Feminine Pursuits) but I don't know as much about it.
Erica Ridley's latest historical romance is The Perks of Loving A Wallflower, which is about a gender-nonconforming grifter named Thomasina or Tommy for short romances a bluestocking she's been pining for. There's a priceless manuscript involved, and a lot of like "oh I thought you were a man, you aren't, THANK GOD".
Cat Sebastian wrote A Little Light Mischief, another f/f historical romance about a scheming lady's maid who's trying to do right and not fuck around anymore, but oh no, there's this hot prim and proper lady tempting her off the righteous path!!!
How To Find A Princess by Alyssa Cole is an Anastasia retelling except!!! Dimitri and Anastasia are both women!!!! Basically, one heroine is the lost heir to a fictional African nation, and the other one is the investigator sent to retrieve~ her. But what else shall she retrieve? Is it? In fact? Her pussy?
Also I just found out that there's a resource called The Lesbrary, so that should help. Happy Femslash February!!!

Gaston, Hercules, and Snow White 💕
Gaston:
He inherited the tavern from his father. In fact he inherited a lot from his father. He always looked up to his dad's strength and masculinity and emulated it. When he was younger, people would always remark on how much alike they were.
However, that being said, Gaston's dad wasn't a very attractive man. He was kind of plain, actually. But Gaston's mother was absolutely beautiful with dark hair, sharp features, and vibrant eyes. He takes after her beauty, and she definitely talked him up when he was younger.
Along those same lines, his dad was able to woo his mother, the most beautiful woman in the village, and Gaston won't stand for anything less than what his father had. That's why he only has eyes for Belle: because she's the most beautiful girl in town and he won't accept anything less.
The fact that Belle doesn't want him only makes him want her more - it's like she's an elusive prey for him and her resistance entices his hunter instinct even though it frustrates him.
Unlike the live action movie, I don't think the animated Gaston has ever been outside of the village aside from the occasional hunting trips. He was born and raised in the village, as was his father and his father before him. He's not a worldly sort, and because he fit perfectly within the simple conservative values of the village, he never had any drive to leave.
Hercules:
If Hades hadn't turned him mortal as a child or if he hadn't given up godhood to remain with Meg, he would have been the most powerful of all the Olympians, strong enough to rule the entire universe.
Along those same lines though, he would have been very arrogant and might have become the next Cronus if he'd been raised on Mount Olympus. Growing on Earth with Amphitryon and Alcmene was what taught him humility, gentleness, kindness, and hard work. He became a true hero because of the values his mortal parents taught him.
Herc was always kind of embarrassed by his humble origins after he found out he was the son of Zeus. It took him a while to really appreciate the good life he had with Amphitryon and Alcmene. He had to make peace with his "farm boy" past, and that helped him learn humility even amongst obtaining wealth and fame across all of Greece.
He had never been with a woman before he met Meg and was always kind of intimidated by women growing up despite his obvious good looks. She was his first time, and they didn't have sex until after the events of the movie. The fact that Hercules waited and was more interested in her than her body was one of the big things that Meg fell for when she met Herc because that was 100% not the case in any of her past relationships.
But that being said, he is bisexual and is into guys too. One of his gay lovers from mythology, Hylas, exists in this verse. They were a couple when Hercules was at the Prometheus Academy and they reconnected during the Zero to Hero montage. Hades paid off some water nymphs to abduct Hylas while he and Herc were traveling together and fighting monsters. Hercules thinks Hylas died, but Hades still has Hylas locked away to use against Herc later.
Snow White:
Snow White has a sort of innate magic of her own. She’s not a full fledged witch nor does she have a fairy godmother, but she does have sort of a supernatural optimism and light that comes along with her being the Fairest One of All that guides her to where she needs to be and allows her to touch the hearts of those around her.
She has ties to Greek mythology in some form. Between her “death” at the beginning of Fall and “rebirth” in the spring when she receives love’s first kiss, her story parallels Persephone’s. And then consider her unwavering hope and light even amongst the abject darkness and evil of Grimhilde trying to cloud her light away and how that’s very similar to the story of Pandora’s box. Perhaps her bloodline can be traced back to Persephone or Pandora.
Her closest friend amongst the other princesses is Aurora, and the two of them bonded at first over their shared experiences being put under a sleeping curse. They write to each other often, and when they do get together, they love to sing and dance together. Snow is captivated by how beautiful Aurora’s voice and often asks her to sing for the Dwarfs.
Though Snow White loves the Dwarfs all equally, she has a special relationship with Grumpy. The fact that he didn’t like her right away I think made her very determined to win him over because she could tell that he needed her more than the other six. She softened his heart and made him love life again, and he’s never forgotten that. He’ll defend Snow until his dying day.
She keeps the mirrors in her castle covered when not in use. The various courtiers all think it’s because she’s so modest, but the actual reason is that she remembers Grimhilde’s mirror and once snuck in when the spirit of the mirror appeared. It terrified her and she doesn’t want to risk the spirit or Grimhilde watching her from the great beyond.

@inkdreamt
Zeus walked into Diana's bedroom and arched a brow. Before him was a disgruntled daughter who was having her fixed up by her mother. "Someone looks grumpy," Zeus teased as he gently poked his daughter in the nose. "Hera, might I remind you that our daughter is a little girl, not a porcelain doll"
Hera rolled her eyes as she continued to fix Diana's hair. "Well, she is royalty, Zeus, can't have her running around like she just fell out of a tree from the training, and let's face it, you know nothing about appearances when it comes to women," Hera chuckled. "Don't pout, Diana, I'm almost done. Princesses don't pout."

SGE x PJO AU: wiki pages
PART I: Hester
Okay, so hm, before we start.
Warning: some minor cursing, as well as spoilers for all percy jackson and the olympians, heroes of olympus and school for good and evil books. Basic knowledge of the main plot points is heavily recommended.
Now that that’s out of the way, an unnecessary note:
I was unsure on how to structure this au, as I was originally going through the events of the novels book by book, but turns out that made the posts way too long (longer than they already are) and more like a mini-fic than an au post, so, for now, we’re sticking to a character-based wiki-like structure, one at a time.
This is obviously an au, so while we'll follow loosely the events of the riordan-verse, there's many tweaks, so it's easier to follow if you're familiar with the canon material but hopefully, I'll be able to answer any questions y'all might have.
I just might do mini-fic posts or write a one-shot or two, but that takes a while so maybe tell me if you’d be interested in that, because as usual, I am fueled by validation.
This is so goddamn self-indulgent.
Hester Ravenswood
Daughter of Nemesis
Occupation: Head counselor of cabin 19 / High school student.
Early years: Used to live with her father, until he tragically died in a mysterious factory fire when she was 10.
It is unknown how Hester got to camp, aside from the vague explanation she gives to Sophie and Agatha: she ran away from an orphanage and her mother guided her to Camp Half-Blood using dreams. She arrived at camp in the same night as Chaddick Edwards, and witnessed his death at Half-Blood Hill.
Camp years: Hester used to be a year-round camper at cabin 11. Since Nemesis didn’t have an actual cabin at the time, Hester was placed there, as per camp tradition, and while she often flaunted her parentage, she never got officially claimed.
Within her first year, Hester dueled an older, unnamed demigod for a bunk bed at cabin 11. She wins the duel, but ends up with a bad reputation as a “shady back-stabber” around camp, due to her use of a hidden knife to win. The bottom bed of said bunk used to be always empty, despite Hermes’ cabin being very crowded, until Agatha’s arrival a few years later.
Hester is the third member of the quest to retrieve Zeus’ lighting bolt, alongside newcomers Agatha and Sophie.
The following summer, she runs away from camp with Sophie Martin to help on the quest for the golden fleece.
Later that year, she participates in the mission to retrieve Yara and Willam Thomas from Westover Hall.
During the quest to rescue Artemis, Hester is absent due to being given another quest by oracle/camp director August Sader: scouting the labyrinth.
Next summer she leads the quest to find Daedalus, but after the incident in Hephaestus’ forges, she chooses to remain at camp to prepare for Kronos’ invasion, as well as aiding Dot Nottingham with Anadil Bloodbrook’s recovery after her time wandering by herself in the labyrinth.
A year later, Hester and Agatha blow up the Princess Andromeda cruise together, and she is heavily involved in the events leading to and during the Battle of Manhattan. Hester and Anadil are responsible for convincing a few minor gods, including Hester’s mother, to betray Kronos and help the campers fight off his army once Kronos cuts off connection between himself (alongside Sophie, Agatha and Yara) and his army to get to Olympus.
Post-war, she attends school alongside Dot Nottingham. It’s unknown what she plans to do after graduating, though it’s implied she might have to retake the year, as she often skipped classes to look for Agatha with Sophie. In one of those missions, Nemesis guides Hester to rescue Nicola Saylor, bringing her to Camp Half-Blood.
Currently: Hester is one of the seven demigods of the prophecy, and is abord the Argo II, headed towards Camp Jupiter.
Connections:
Dot Nottingham
While Hester mostly kept to herself during her first years at Camp Half-Blood, she has a secret soft spot for Dot, as she once overheard the girl standing up for her against Beatrix Jolie.
She is the one that teaches Dot how to use a dagger.
Every year, Dot offerers to house Hester for the school year, and every year she refuses, until after the Battle of Manhattan, when she accepts the invitation.
Agatha Schwartz
Hester and Agatha become friends shortly after her arrival, alongside Sophie, at Camp Half-Blood, when Hester claims to be impressed by Agatha’s confrontation with Aric Lesso, which seemed to freak every other camper out.
Through the years, Hester develops a not-so-one-sided crush on her, leading to a, rather messy, undefined romantic relationship between them after Hester kissed Agatha at Mount Saint Helens, but the two decide they are better off as friends after the Battle of Manhattan.
Hester is greatly distraught by Agatha’s disappearance after the war and feels horribly guilty for ignoring Agatha’s attempts to contact her prior to it due to remaining pettiness post-break-up.
Sophie Martin
Off to a bad start upon meeting, the two become tentative friends during the quest to retrieve the lightning bolt, and they even manage to join forces to aid Agatha, Hort Scourie and Aric Lesso on their quest for the golden fleece.
However, Hester quickly grows suspicious that Sophie might be a spy for Rafal at camp. Once she hears that this accusation was proven true, during the quest to rescue Artemis, it causes an irreversible shift in their mostly playful previous dynamic, even though Sophie changes sides again after Rafal betrays her trust at Mount Tamalpais. The peak of their animosity is at their duel after “Agatha’s funeral”, in which Hester nearly strangles Sophie with her whip while blinded by grief, only stopping due to interference from Agatha herself.
Thankfully, things seem to have smoothed over between them after Sophie stabs, and sucessfully kills, Rafal in the Gods’ Throne Room, "ending” the Battle of Manhattan by keeping Kronos from destroying Olympus.
Sophie and Hester grow closer during Agatha’s disappearance, often meeting up for search missions whenever one of them believes to have a lead on their friend’s whereabouts.
Anadil Bloodbrook
Hester first meets Anadil during her first mission an the labyrinth, in which she manages to convince Anadil to help her escape Kronos’ forces, but isn’t able to take her along, feeling horrible guilt, believing Anadil to have been killed.
Once she learns that Anadil managed to escape and is actually alive, having been wandering through the maze on her own for months, Hester vows to save her, stepping down and handing over the quest for Daedalus to Agatha.
Hester manages to find Anadil, whose mind appears fragmented after so long in the labyrinth, and begs Dot to help her find a solution. The daughter of Dionysus eventually does, combining her mild influence over madness with Reena Shazabah’s healing talents as a daughter of Apollo.
Anadil and Hester keep in touch often after that, becoming very close friends and formulating a plan to secretly recruit minor gods and their children back to the olympian side.
The two of them start dating officially a few weeks after the end of the war and are currently still together.
Nemesis
Hester is contacted by her mother more often than most demigods, probably due to Nemesis status as a minor goddess. Nemesis offers to help Hester on occasion, but Hester always stresses that her mother is anything but kind; no help from her ever comes free of charge.
August Sader
Despite making a few jokes about the oracle’s host being past his prime, Hester shows a deep respect for the camp director, even if she doesn’t always agree with his tatics.
Reena Shazabah
Hester’s active dislike for Beatrix during her first few summers at camp lead to her passive dislike of all of the daughter of Aphrodite’s friends and flings, including Reena, but they eventually become friends and, after Reena aids Dot in healing Anadil’s mind, the two of them can often be spotted training together at the arena.
Rafal
While they were in the same cabin and Rafal was one of the few campers that didn’t avoid her, Hester tells Agatha she does not trust him.
Once Rafal reveals himself as Kronos’ son, offering Hester a spot in his army, due to her being a child of a minor goddess, she tells him to “get fucked” and stabs him in the arm with her dagger, establishing their dynamic for the rest of the war.
Nicola Saylor
Hester is initially resentful of Nicola, for her presence reminded Hester of her own failure to find Agatha, but once the roman girl reveals that Agatha was most likely stuck at Camp Jupiter without her memories, Hester starts acting less hostile towards her.
Yara Thomas
Hester is part of the rescue party that retrieves Yara and her brother Willan.
At first the two seemed to get along, but after Yara joins the Hunters their friendship sours, as Hester has a very strong disdain for the group.
However, they start talking again during the Battle of Manhattan and grow closer once Yara offers to try and track down Agatha once she goes missing.
The current status of their friendship is unknown, as Hester will probably be livid once she finds out Yara met amnesiac!Agatha at Camp Jupiter months prior to Nicola’s arrival at Camp Half-Blood.
Hort Scourie
She doesn’t really care much for Hort at all before he is revealed to be one of the seven, but tolerates his presence on occasion, though Hester does state that kicking his ass on the arena is one of her favorite hobbies.
Weapons and Powers: Hester is very skilled with daggers and knifes, though her weapon of choice is usually a whip given to her by her mother on a deal they made when Hester first found out she was a demigod. Whatever Hester had to give her mother to keep her end of the bargain is currently unknown.
The whip is shown to have a mind of its own, moving in fast snake-like motions that Sophie describes as “demonic”, glowing red when “awake”, but its use is rather dangerous for long periods of time, as it draws energy directly from Hester’s life force.
Hester has some sort of control over chance, being able to strike deals to tip the scales of balance in her favor, allowing her to succeed in unlikely situations, but more often than not, the price for doing so is way too high, being a last resort for her.

PJO TV Plans
So before even the first little HINT about the PJO Disney+ show, I was making plans for a Riordan-verse tv show.
So each season would have twenty episodes, with 8-9 episodes per book and in the middle, two episodes based on short stories or myths. This would allow for the actors, who would obviously be age-matching kids, to grow and still be the appropriate ages for each story.
As we would eventually run out of actual Riordan books, we would move on to Riordan Presents books. Here’s my plans! Let me know what you think and if/how i should clarify!
(Bold is Season, italic is middle/short story episodes, and strikethrough is book. I often show the extents of each episode through chapter titles or quotes found on the wiki plot summaries of each book. If using chapter title, that means it uses every chapter until the next mentioned one.)
