Hello everyone,

             My name is Megan Foley and I am a PsyD candidate with the University of Hartford looking to recruit participants for my dissertation research. I am interested in exploring different professions' perceptions of and attitudes about congregate care mental health treatment settings for adolescents, specifically focusing on licensed mental health clinicians with experience in those settings and caseworkers with the Department of Children and Families. A large part of my training has been in acute care settings with youth and their families, and I feel passionately about working to identify ways to help the different players in our mental health care system collaborate effectively. For this study, I am specifically looking to speak with professionals licensed and working in the New England region as well as NY and NJ.

Participation in this study would entail a brief questionnaire online through Qualtrics and a 30-45 minute semi-structured interview over Zoom that would be scheduled at your convenience. Further details on eligibility and the participation process can be found in the attached flyers.

Hello everyone!

My name is Amina and I am a BSc Psychology with Honours student at the University of Hertfordshire. I am also the principal researcher of a study that aims to investigate whether judging category relatedness within semantic memory can be influenced by the level of typicality the items have alongside whether high versus low autistic traits have any effect on the performance of different types of processing.

I am currently taking volunteers for this online study. Any adults aged 18 to 65 can volunteer and you do not need an official Autism diagnosis to take part.

In the study, you will be given an item/ definition/ scenario at the top of your screen and will have to decide which of two following words match best to that using your keyboard. After that is completed you will be given the RAADS-14 questionnaire to complete.

It will take roughly 15 minutes to complete. However, a maximum of 30 minutes is given for the entire study to be completed including the information sheet, consent form, debrief sheet, and the “breaks” given (which are just for momentarily resting your eyes and hands), otherwise I cannot use your data. Please note that this study cannot be completed on a mobile phone or tablet, it must be done on a computer/laptop as the keyboard is required for the study’s completion.

Hi sophie (again) one really quick note, the reason i read through your ENTIRE blog is because my dissertation is on facetious disorders portrayed and influenced by social media and the likes of such- it is literally a 250 page document about people like you. It's literally a part of my research to read long-winded things like this and write about them. My livelihood revolves around this. I don't expect to see a Dr. before your name, but you can damn well expect to see it before mine.

The only reason I sent that ask and wrote a targeted post was to get a response from you. The only reason. Had some writers block lol, I needed some material 😅😅

Another note to add to the grooming part was not about LGBTQ or transgender people as I am both myself. Please do not take it as a jab to your gender identity, and I apologize if it came off that way. It was in no way meant to insult you in that regard.

First, thanks for clarifying about the use of grooming. I don't mean to suggest you did intend it as a remark about my gender identity.

But I do think it's important to note in a "you are not immune to propaganda" way. Because I think, consciously or unconsciously, anti-endos have adopted transphobic talking points.

I assume and hope that this is unconscious. That rather than looking at how conservatives have used these talking points to harm queer communities and going "yeah, we can use that talking point too with these people we don't like," this absorption and repetition of these talking points is happening on a subconscious level. In which case, I think it's important to understand where they've originated and what the history is behind them.

As well as what misusing these terms normalizes. Because repeating them does contribute to a culture that is okay with using "grooming" this way to associate people they don't like with child abusers.

Now, allow me to first commend you on starting work on your dissertation so early. Working on it at just 20 is quite impressive indeed.

Although I have to question the subject matter.

A factitious disorder is when somebody is faking a disorder or pretending to have a disorder. It seems strange that you would seek to use examples of people who do not actually have a disorder and are not claiming to.

Even if endogenic systems were lying, unless they're presenting themselves as having a disorder they weren't, they wouldn't qualify for criterion B.

If you do want to write about people who have plural experiences without having trauma or a disorder, you might want to actually read my studies and research page. I'm sure that you could find stuff there that could help you on your journey.

And if you plan on writing about tulpamancy, specifically, Dr. Samuel Veissiere's Variety of Tulpa Experiences is probably most useful in understanding the tulpamancy community and viewpoints on the practice.

I would also recommend Learning to Discern the Voices of Gods, Spirits, Tulpas, and the Dead, as it offers a great comparison between tulpamancy and other forms of non-pathological voice hearing.

I imagine that these studies are much more productive uses of your time than scrolling through over 11,000 Tumblr posts, and would look better as sources in your dissertation.

Finally, if you are committed to doing a dissertation on factitious disorder, I would highly advise learning how to spell factitious. Because it's not "facetious" disorders, and spelling it that way might look a bit awkward on your dissertation about factitious disorder.

I'm currently in my final year of a psychology degree in England and as part of that I must complete a study on a topic of my choice, involving gathering data, analysing that data and then writing an academic paper on it

My study is on the relationship between having hyperlexia in childhood, being or not being diagnosed with autism, and quality of life as an adult

The theory behind it is: there is a high percentage of hyperlexia cases amongst those with autism, so hyperlexia could be treated as a sign of autism (where it currently isn't), studies have also found that gaining an adult autism diagnosis improves quality of life for those people for various reasons - SO if we start using hyperlexia as a sign of autism, we may be able to diagnose more cases of autism early, and therefore improve the quality of life of lots of people!

If people are interested, I'd be happy to share the paper once it's finished in April/May time, regardless of the results!

I encourage you if you have autism diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or even think you don't have it - PLEASE complete the survey if you have ten minutes!

The more people I have complete the survey, the higher the quality of my research is! This topic is important to me, and so if I can get data that shows my hypotheses are right, this could be really important data (not to toot my own horn or anything)

Hello my dudes, been thinking about my dissertation for next year, one idea i have in mind is to do a study comparing results from adhd and/or autism questionnaires between those with a clinical diagnosis and those who are self-diagnosed/speculating - in order to show whether or not going undiagnosed is due to a lack of traits or a lack of resources

I have my hypothesis for what it is of course, but the subject seems interesting regardless

There's a possibility I could get published (i doubt it), if it did it could help push for better resources for the neurodivergent community here in the UK (at least that's my hope)

I'm actually starting to be of the opinion that nick is the more manipulative mastermind one out of the lot once he's suspicious or hurt enough which means Boston is in some serious dangerous waters and I can't wait to see him taste some of his own medicine right back. I was of the belief nick was going to just fall apart in Boston's scheming cunning hands before but it actually seems like he's going to use some of Bostons own tactics to put him in the uncomfortable position for once.

Something I've wondered since the trailer is that everyone eventually finds out about Boston and Top but how? Whose responsible for making Boston face those consequences? I think it genuinely might be Nick with Sands help. Which would also explain why nick is upset at sand for something he's done to Boston which makes nick feel "embarrassed" and sand is so angry when he tells nick that Boston is a shit person anyway. He clearly has the context Boston doesn't value anyone's feelings let alone nicks by next episode and that's only episode four. So what on earth is Boston going to have done by further down the line to nick that makes sand that upset?

I'm tempted to believe that because nick wants to play a long game with Boston after finding out about Top, he starts getting suckered in again and Sand, being Sand, isn't about to let that happen to his friend so he reminds Boston that nick is more inexperienced or something which causes nick to feel like he's lost a bit of the equal footing he's gained through sitting pretty and silent with Boston's manipulations to Boston's face but in reality doing things like bugging cars, snooping into his personal belongings etc. All that confidence nick has gained by being sly and now he feels stupid and inadequate again.
