the dear neighbor of mine (who is genuinely a family friend) keeps having to escalate her response to keep her reactive working bred labrador from running at our dogs when we walk by her house. First it was 'oh he comes when called' and then he didn't. and then it was 'he has an electronic 'fence' he won't cross it' until he did. then it was 'oh well i'll just grab him when you walk by' until you weren't able to and now it's escalated to 'he has an additional e-collar on that i'll zap him with when he reacts to your dogs'. like this is not working. at all. i just wonder what will be the trigger for actual containment of this dog (tie out line or fence would be acceptable as they use on their OTHER DOG) will it be your dog getting into a fight he can't win with ours as they try to calmly walk by? will it be him running out at a car or person biking and getting injured? Like he already has two separate shock collars on. you can't escalate much further without giving in and getting some goddamn containment. which is what she should have done the first time.

Imogen and Laudna (and to be fair FCG though that one felt a bit more justified given Chetney's resistance to the exercise, and also was very funny) remind me of how a friend astutely once pointed out that "I think you suck" is technically an "I statement", or how, if you're using the "When you do X, I think Y, and it makes me feel Z" format can in fact be used to say "When you don't do what I want you to, I think that's unfair, and it makes me feel like you should do everything I say."

These two dancers are among the world’s leading ballet dancers, and Houston Ballet is one of the finest companies in the US and the world. They are muscled, strong, and they do … a lot of resistance exercise.
I was in Houston back in the Spring this year, and attended the Houston Ballet - stunning performance. And there is no way a dancer could be starvation skinny, underfed and underweight, and do what these dancers do onstage, night after night. I went to the reception after the performance, and one young female dancer told me, the era of the ed dancer is decades out of date.

can i just rant abt how bad being broke all ur life fucks w ur relationship with food immensely. i dont think i have an ed necessarily i just feel like my relationship w food has been irreparably damaged cuz i either end up skipping meals to save money or when i finally have extra money to spend im not even that excited abt eating food anymore. cuz im just thinking abt how much money im "wasting" even when im trying to nourish my body :-) buying groceries, preparing and eating meals or even occasionally treating myself to takeout has become so unenjoyable for me i wish i just didnt have to eat at all haaaA

I am going to try resistance training twice a week because we lose muscle mass and bone density as we get older and it’s supposed to help with that. The problem is I hate exercising inside so it’s going to take a lot of willpower to get myself to do it. I have some workout videos, weights, and moves I already know that I can mix up. There was this Claudia Schiffer workout I used to do back in the day that taught me a lot of exercises that use body weight that I remember well. If I can manage 20 minutes twice a week that’s better than nothing at all. 20 minutes is doable. I’ll start on Sunday.
Weight today: 121.6 lb./55kg (been maintaining here happily for a long time)
Protein intake: 96g
Fiber intake: 26g

the concept of marina being frivolous and liking nonsensical, useless pretty things because she likes the idea that of being able to lose it then easily replace them after. like the whole concept of her having something so easily replaceable, and she can just get it again just as easily when she had nothing to herself before. something that she can consider hers, and it’s hers to own and hers to lose, that sense of personal autonomy and security when she lacked it before, she likes to feel that hence why she would decorate herself with so much gold and gems. she doesn’t care if she loses it - she probably loses so many all the time - but she knows it is easily replaceable and she’s capable of replacing it after.
#like something abt that so interesting to me. someone having nothing but when they grew older#and they’re now more financially stable - or at least have the means to do whatever they want - they’d just develop that frivolous habit#and they indulge every whim they have and purchase anything they want bc they couldn’t before. and they have that security (and they know#they have such security) that they can just do that i like that concept for marina#i think her motivation to be a pirate /join the lords is that. she can do whatever she wants now. she’s gonna take whatever she wants too#and she just minimizes any errors for herself bc she’s a self preserving type but she likes to exercise that freedom bc of her past#which is so different from shri’iia who actively tried to resist it meanwhile marina is like nah imma do my own thing#and i like the idea of that being marina’s motivator like she’s a pretty selfish person#which makes sense with her. selfish and self preserving and she likes to live in the moment#and she takes whatever she wants bc she can. and she does whatever she wants bc she can as well#but that want manifesting into something more noble and heroic lol#honestly I’m working out why <- she would even bother with the world saving deal when she’s a selfish character to her core#one concept I’m toying with is that she sees this as a job/gig that was given to her and she hasnt failed any she’s done and she’s not#treating this one as any different#oc: marina.
